‘I love it’ – Ally McCoist in awe of Djed Spence ‘art’ before PSG stun Tottenham

Ally McCoist was passionately praising the performance of Djed Spence in an act of brilliance against PSG before late heartbreak for Thomas Frank’s side.

Tottenham put in a resolute defensive performance against the Parisians in the UEFA Super Cup final, drawing 2-2 in normal time but ultimately lost on penalties.

Two set-piece goals put the Lilywhites into the lead as they dug deep to keep the French outfit out for 85 minutes before Kang-in Lee grabbed a goal back.

Super sub Goncalo Ramos then came on to head in a late equaliser, pushing the game to penalties as PSG went on to win.

The dogged performance included some excellent spells of individual brilliance to bring a smile to Thomas Frank’s face despite giving the lead away and losing the game.

‘That’s the art of defending’ says Ally McCoist on Spence

During the second half of the tie, former Rangers striker McCoist was waxing lyrical about a superb piece of marshalling from Spurs left-back Spence as it appeared the Premier League side would comfortably hold onto their lead.

In the 68th minute, Ibrahim Mbaye was immediately into the action off the bench, bursting down the right-hand side following a through ball from Achraf Hakimi in a decent amount of space.

The Tottenham defender then galloped back, leaning into the 17-year-old as he stumbled over, knocking the ball out for a goal kick.

Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario applauded his teammate’s work rate, running over to do a big high five celebration with the Englishman.

McCoist loved the defensive action, saying on TNT Sports in the 68th minute: “Ahh love it. I love it!

“That’s just the art of defending at its best, matching the pace and just leaning on him.

“Don’t need to be aggressive, don’t need to fly into the challenge, just get there and lean on the opponent.”

Spence still struggled despite act of defensive class

Football Insider verdict

Despite the clever defensive play, the 25-year-old really struggled against a top-class PSG side.

He lost the ball on 12 separate occasions, often stumbling on the ball as he was frequently indecisive going forward.

With Destiny Udogie still a way off first team training, the Englishman has to up his game if he has any chance of keeping the Italian out going forward.

Moreover, there is always the threat of Ben Davies filling in to offer a more experienced and smarter defensive option for Frank.

Against Bayern Munich in a 4-0 battering, the former Nottingham Forest defender struggled with the pace of Kingsley Coman and Michael Olise which doesn’t bode well for carrying over to the high octane Premier League.

Once an outcast under Antonio Conte, the versatile full-back has to be careful not to be dropped by his new manager at Spurs.

Description

Thomas Frank’s side suffered a stunning defeat in the Super Cup to PSG as Tottenham threw away a two-goal lead to lose on penalties.

Supporters had been extremely concerned during pre-season, especially following Ange Postecoglou‘s sacking, but Frank’s playing style forced the Ligue 1 champions to look a shell of their former selves for much of the game.

Micky van de Ven opened the scoring from close range, jumping on Rodrigo Bentancur’s shot off the crossbar, before Cristian Romero headed home three minutes into the second half.

However, Kang-In Lee netted in the final five minutes to breathe hope into Luis Enrique and PSG’s side, with Goncalo Ramos rescuing a draw to send the final to penalties on Wednesday, 13 August.

PSG finally claimed victory via spot-kicks at the Bluenergy Stadium.

Tottenham lift Super Cup against PSG

Guglielmo Vicario – 5

Very little for the Italian international to do against the Champions League title holders. Stayed turned on and was active when called upon. Could do nothing to stop PSG’s late comeback.

MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES

Pedro Porro – 7

Provided the assist for Romero’s header. Continued to create chances while playing a key role in thwarting PSG’s key attackers in the defensive third.

Kevin Danso – 6

Totally outshone by his centre-back partners, but with his long throws causing havoc, he was just as important in the backline.

Cristian Romero – 8

Led like a true leader, showing just why Frank has handed him the captain’s armband for the 2025/26 season. Little he could do against PSG’s comeback.

Tottenham missing James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski

Micky van de Ven – 9 – Player of the Match

Absolutely sensational. A well-taken opening goal before putting his body on the line for several blocks. A warrior when he can remain fit.

Djed Spence – 6

Up and down the left flank all night, causing issues for Achraf Hakimi. Lacked accuracy with his passes and final balls, but was defensively sound.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 7

Absolutely key for Tottenham in Yves Bissouma’s absence. Rarely put a foot wrong on the night

Joao Palhinha (Off for Gray 72′) – 6

A decent performance in Spurs colours, his first outside of pre-season in white. Lost a few battles, but as the season goes on, he’ll only get stronger.

Thomas Frank’s substitutes fail to hold on

Pape Sarr (Off for Bergvall 90′) – 3

Clearly not a like-for-like replacement for the injured James Maddison, despite scoring from the halfway line against Arsenal during pre-season. Quite disappointing.

Mohammed Kudus (Off for Tel 79′) – 8

A fine impression after arriving for big money from West Ham. Caused issues all evening for PSG’s defence, and while his end product needs improving, his effort was contagious.

Richarlison (Off for Solanke 72′) – 7

Made a couple of chances for himself, having two efforts at goal that were well saved. Ran himself into the ground and needed to be replaced.

Substitutes

Dominic Solanke (On for Richarlison 72′) – 5

Chucked his weight around but failed to offer much in the final third after coming on.

Archie Gray (On for Palhinha 72′) – 6

Helped sure up the backline, adding yet another defender to the pitch for Spurs.

Mathys Tel (On for Kudus 79′) – 6

Tried his best to defend, though arguably he did more bad than good when giving away a dangerous free-kick.

Kudus experiment and Spence’s temper: Frank’s biggest Tottenham calls for PSG clash

Kudus experiment and Spence’s temper: Frank’s biggest Tottenham calls for PSG clash - Football Insider
Description

Mohammed Kudus’ position for the PSG game tonight remains one of the key decisions for Thomas Frank amid concerns over Djed Spence’s attitude.

Europa League champions Tottenham Hotspur take on Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Supercup final later this evening.

The pair both overcame constant European failures last season to be deemed two of the best teams on the continent and will go head-to-head in the inaugural event.

PSG enter the game with technically no pre-season after their Club World Cup exploits, dramatically falling at the hands of Chelsea in the USA.

Spurs were undefeated in five pre-season games under the Dane, but a 4-0 humbling by Bayern Munich suggests there’s much more work for the Lilywhites to do ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Prior to the game, Frank has some huge calls to make when it comes to his starting XI as he looks to compete with arguably the best attack in world football.

Filling the number 10 void – Frank to play safe with Sarr or bold with Kudus

After the injuries to Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison, the Lilywhites are currently without a recognised attacking midfielder.

How the former Brentford boss decides to cope with the lack of a creator remains to be seen, especially after missing out on Jack Grealish after his move to Everton.

Under Ange Postecoglou, Pape Sarr was deployed as makeshift number 10, essentially an extra holding midfielder to put pragmatism first – extremely unlike the Australian, I know.

It was a move that worked in the Europa League final and has also been adopted by Frank during pre-season.

Considering the threat of the French side’s transitions, it would seem wise to play a bit more cautiously, yet this could lead to little attacking threat going forward.

Alternatively, a bold move to put new signing Kudus behind the striker may be a tactically astute play, albeit experimental.

Under Graham Potter at West Ham, the Ghanian frequently played up top, consistently making superb defence splitting runs in-behind.

Moreover, Richarlison or Dominic Solanke are known for their hold-up play, so the former Ajax winger could benefit from the striker’s occupying the PSG centre-backs, dragging them out of the backline and serving space on a silver platter for the number 20.

It would be a risky move to do during a major cup final, but considering Spurs’ limited options creatively, the Dane may as well give it a go.

Choosing experience over youth at left-back – the agile Spence or the dependable Davies

Whilst Destiny Udogie remains out with a knee injury, many squad predictors would envision the ex-Nottingham Forest man Spence to nail down the left-hand side.

However, in the 4-0 demolition by Bayern, the Englishman struggled to cope with both Kingsley Coman and Michael Olise, leading to his withdrawal on the 64th minute.

He dillydallied on the ball which led to the German outfit stealing possession, similar to how PSG will do with their high press.

Additionally, according to football.london (8 August), Frank watched the reaction of Spence with intent when he came off the pitch to see his reaction.

The 25-year-old walked “straight to an empty seat while expressing displeasure at either his or the team’s performance.”

The ex-Bees coach “watched him in his seat for some time before eventually turning back to the game”, as he supposedly was “glaring” at him.

This potentially suggests the Scandinavian was unhappy with his reaction which could see him dropped for tonight.

The natural left-back successor would be Davies, although the 32-year-old will likely be blown away by the speed and tenacity of Desire Doue down the right-flank.

Micky van de Ven could also step in on the left side of defence, a role he has done with a fair amount of success last season under Postecoglou.

The striker spot – continue with the goal-shy Richarlison or bring Solanke straight back into the fold

Greatly admired for his unrelenting energy and work rate, the Brazilian Richarlison is beloved to the Tottenham fans, despite not notching the goals.

He has been filling in up front in the absence of Dominic Solanke, who has been declared fit for the final after suffering with niggling injuries.

Throwing the former Bournemouth talisman into the mix straight away could be step too soon as Frank will want their prime source of goals to be ready for the start of the Premier League on the weekend.

Moreover, the game could be ideal for o pombo (the pigeon) as his superb hold-up play and defender-pulling movement should open up space in behind for the Spurs midfielders.

The Danish manager will be wanting to target the French side’s high line to release both Kudus and Brennan Johnson down the flanks.

Mathys Tel is also in with a shout to play down the middle, but I’ve not been enamoured by his performances during pre-season.

Description

Son Heung-min’s next career chapter is already up and running after his emotional departure from Tottenham Hotspur.

Son said a heartfelt goodbye to his Tottenham team-mates and supporters after his move away from North London was confirmed; the South Korean moving on after 10 seasons, 173 goals and 101 assists.

The 33-year-old’s move to MLS side LAFC saw Son turn down the riches of the Saudi Pro League, and it’s also left Thomas Frank looking to fill the massive hole left behind by his number seven’s departure.

Tottenham have a plethora of options to step up and potentially replace Son in Mathys Tel, Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert, Richarlison and Manor Solomon, but Frank may also want to look elsewhere.

Son celebrates ‘proud moment’ after immediate LAFC debut

Son’s move across the Atlantic developed at frenetic pace after he announced his intention to leave Tottenham after their pre-season friendly against Newcastle on 3 August, and he’d signed within days.

The Tottenham legend has also wasted no time in taking to the field for an LAFC side featuring Hugo Lloris, as he came on in the 61st minute of their 2-2 draw with Chicago Fire on Sunday for his debut.

Son won the penalty which Denis Bouanga struck home in the 81st minute to secure a point for Steve Cherundolo’s side, and posted on Instagram at full-time (10 August) with a message to LAFC fans.

Robbie Keane also developed legendary status at Spurs before heading to the MLS, and he sent two ‘applause’ emojis in response to Son’s post, which said: “Proud moment to make my debut. More to come!!”

Tottenham to explore options in search for ‘the next Son’

Football Insider Verdict

Former Spurs and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has told Football Insider that Leeds United are well placed to re-sign Solomon this summer, depriving Frank of another option to potentially succeed Son.

Tel is the prime candidate to act as Son’s replacement after his £30million move from Bayern Munich this summer, but he’ll need to massively improve on a return of three goals in 20 appearances last season.

Liverpool will accept £40m Tottenham offer for Harvey Elliott

Liverpool will accept £40m Tottenham offer for Harvey Elliott - Football Insider
Description

Harvey Elliott could leave Liverpool for as little as £40million this summer amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about Spurs’ attempts to sign the Liverpool playmaker.

Tottenham have a playmaking void to fill this summer after James Maddison’s ACL injury, and Elliott has emerged as one of several candidates to plug that gap as Liverpool prepare to let him leave this summer.

Elliott is highly likely to leave Anfield this summer after his lack of game-time last season and Liverpool’s club-record signing of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, with RB Leipzig currently leading the chase.

However, sources have told Football Insider that Tottenham could succeed with a £40million bid for Elliott, as Liverpool are willing to sell the 22-year-old for this amount if a buy-back clause is included.

Football Insider sources have said that this valuation jumps to £50m without a buy-back clause, but Tottenham still face a race against time to overtake the likes of RB Leipzig in the running to sign Elliott.

Elliott’s Liverpool exit ‘advanced’ as Tottenham weigh up bids

Football Insider revealed on 8 August that Tottenham see Elliott as an ideal replacement for Maddison and a realistic transfer target, particularly when compared to Eberechi Eze and Morgan Gibbs-White.

MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES

Speaking on the new Inside Track, O’Rourke stated that although Spurs are firmly behind Leipzig in the race to sign Elliott, Liverpool’s reasonable valuation of the midfielder still gives them a good chance.

“Reluctantly, Liverpool would consider letting Elliott go for the right fee”, he told Football Insider.

“There’s been talk of £40million plus a buy-back clause, or a £50million fee without a buy-back clause.

“RB Leipzig seem to be the ones leading the chase for Elliott right now, and they’ve opened talks with Liverpool to discuss a potential deal for the 22-year-old.

“If Tottenham are in the market for attacking midfielders, Harvey Elliott would be somebody who would figure high up their list.

“It could be an astute signing if they were to get him, but it does seem that other clubs are further advanced in the pursuit of Elliott, rather than Spurs.”

Tottenham to acclerate push for number 10 transfer

Maddison’s absence until next February at the earliest leaves a signifiant hole in Thomas Frank‘s side, despite the 28-year-old being reduced to a pit-part role under Ange Postecoglou at times last season.

Tottenham have identified Real Madrid’s Nico Paz as a potential alternative to Eze as Maddison’s replacement, but the Argentine doesn’t have the advantage of Premier League experience as Elliott does.

Harvey Elliott looks set to leave Liverpool this summer, but the race for his signature may have just taken an unexpected turn.

Elliott joined the Reds from Fulham in 2019, registering 15 goals and 20 assists in 147 appearances for the club since and winning a host of major trophies — including two Premier League titles.

However, the 22-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield, starting just two Premier League matches, and with Liverpool signing Florian Wirtz this summer, Elliott’s chances of regular starts have taken an even bigger hit.

London rivals West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur have been among the teams most prominently linked with a move for Elliott this summer.

RB Leipzig enter Harvey Elliott race

According to The Athletic, RB Leipzig are the latest club to make contact with Liverpool regarding Elliott.

Talks aren’t thought to be at an advanced stage yet, but there are ongoing discussions between the two clubs.

MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES

Liverpool are understood to be demanding a £40million fee plus a buyback option for Elliott, or an increased £50m fee without a buyback option.

Leipzig are on the hunt for a new attacking midfielder with Xavi Simons nearing a move to Chelsea.

Die Roten Bullen could be boosted in their negotiations with Elliott thanks to former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp’s role as Red Bull’s head of global football.

Despite his struggles last season, Elliott’s stock remains high after he notched five goals in six appearances to fire England to a second successive Under-21 European Championship title this summer — including three goals in the semi-finals and final combined, winning the Player of the Tournament award in the process.

Spurs and West Ham will have to up their efforts if they’re to secure the playmaker’s signature before Klopp exerts his influence.

Liverpool take the lead in Marc Guehi race

Liverpool have straight-up bullied Newcastle United in this summer transfer window, stealing Hugo Ekitike from under their noses and making a major push to sign Alexander Isak.

But the Reds aren’t done with the Magpies yet.

Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi is another player the two clubs have locked horns over, and just like last summer, Newcastle look set to miss out, with the player’s head turned elsewhere.

“Newcastle are looking to bring in a new defender,” former Premier League scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider.

“I know most of their focus is on a striker with the Isak situation at the moment, but they’ve been after a centre-back since last summer when they missed out on Guehi.

“They messed about with his valuation last year and that deal fell through.

“From what I hear, that interest in Guehi is still there, but he wants the Liverpool move.

“So Newcastle have been looking at other options, including Van Hecke from Brighton.“

Description

Tottenham Hotspur will look to move Yves Bissouma on this summer as they prepare a bid for an England midfielder, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what his sources have told him about Bissouma’s uncertain future in North London.

Bissouma fell behind Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Sarr in Spurs’ central midfield pecking order last term and is one of several expected to leave as part of Thomas Frank’s rebuild at Tottenham this summer.

Former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider last month that Tottenham want to at least recoup the £25million they paid Brighton for Bissouma in 2022, and are planning to accept offers for the Malian.

Football Insider sources have now said that Bissouma is highliy likely to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium despite Frank’s desire to bolster his midfield – which he wants to do by signing Conor Gallagher.

Sources have told Football Insider that Spurs are looking for options in the middle of the park regardless of Bissouma’s future, and see long-term transfer target Gallagher as a player who ticks plenty of boxes.

MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES

Conor Gallagher chase holds key to Bissouma’s future at Tottenham

Football Insider revealed on 1 August that Atletico Madrid will demand at least £40million for Tottenham to sign Gallagher this summer, with Premier League rivals Newcastle and Aston Villa also interested.

Speaking on the new Inside Track, O’Rourke said that Spurs see Gallagher as an upgrade on Bissouma ahead of next season, but it’s currently unclear if it’ll be a case of one in, one out in Tottenham‘s midfield.

“I’m not surprised that Tottenham are looking at [Gallagher] to try and bolster that midfield”, he told Football Insider.

“It seems more than likely that Yves Bissouma could be moved on, and that midfield at Tottenham is a bit light right now.

“So, they could be looking for options to strengthen it, and Conor Gallagher would tick a lot of boxes.”

Tottenham to accelerate rebuild amid Son, Maddison developments

Midfield was the area where Ange Postecoglou‘s Tottenham side were so often exposed last season, but Frank‘s permanent additions have so far been focused more on central defenders and wide attackers.

That could be set to change after James Maddison suffered an “awful” injury blow in their pre-season friendly against Newcastle, a match which also saw departing captain Son Heung-min say his goodbyes.

Description

Son Heung-min’s Tottenham Hotspur fate may have been sealed as the club enter talks to make a ‘real statement’ signing.

Son has been an incredible servant to the Lilywhites, registering 173 goals and 101 assists in 454 appearances across all competitions since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.

The South Korea international has played in three cup finals for Tottenham during that time, finally lifting his first trophy with the club as he captained them to the Europa League title last season, beating Man United 1-0.

However, Son’s performance levels dipped last season, failing to register double-figure Premier League goals for the first time since his maiden campaign in North London.

Son in line for MLS move

Son recently turned 33 and has now entered the final year of his Tottenham contract.

With that in mind, it’s no surprise to see the forward linked with a move away from the club, with Major League Soccer his most likely destination.

MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES

LAFC are understood to have already made an approach for Son, who they see as a realistic signing toward the end of the transfer window, once the player has held talks with Spurs boss Thomas Frank regarding his future.

Frank has already added Mohammed Kudus to his squad since joining from Brentford, leaving Son with an uphill battle to get into the starting line-up next season.

Tottenham pushing for sensational Rodrygo transfer

Son’s task would be made that much harder if Spurs were to complete the latest signing they’ve been rumoured with.

Former Everton and Aston Villa chief Keith Wyness recently told Football Insider that the Lilywhites have begun talks for a sensational move for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo — who is a major target of Liverpool and Arsenal this summer.

“I’ve got a funny feeling that could happen. I know that Spurs have got the ability to do it cash-wise,” said Wyness (30 July).

“This would be a real statement signing for Spurs. I know that they’ve actually started talks with Real Madrid. I don’t know how far they’ve gone, but I know there’s certainly been discussions.

“I sold a player to Real Madrid quite a long time ago, and they’re actually very easy to deal with in terms of negotiations, at least that’s what I found. They’ll have already had three or four replacements for Rodrygo in their mind. He does seem to have fallen out of favour.

“I think it could be a time where they want to maximise their valuation and spend it on new talent and refresh their squad. So there’s a chance of getting this done, and Daniel could be down there trying to get something happening.

“I think it’d be great for Spurs. I’d love to see him in the Premier League. I think with Thomas Frank as well, he’d be a great manager for him.

“The whole Spurs project is interesting. After a shaky season, I think we’re going to see a resurgence of Spurs coming back. I’m a big fan of Frank’s and how he’s going to approach things. Rodrygo would be something that would get everybody excited at the Tottenham fan base, and I think there’s a better than fair chance it could get done.”

Should Spurs, indeed, pull off this incredible transfer, it would represent a complete revitalisation of their forward line and effectively end Son’s chances of being a major contributor for them.

A move to LAFC has proven fruitful for ex-Spurs players like Gareth Bale and Hugo Lloris, so maybe now is the time for Son to follow the same path.

Son Heung-min looks set to bring his illustrious spell with Tottenham Hotspur to an end, with a timescale now set for his departure.

The South Korean forward joined the Lilywhites from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2015 and has since registered 173 goals and 101 assists in 454 appearances across all competitions.

Son has played in three cup finals for Tottenham, finally winning his first trophy with the club as he captained them to the Europa League title last season. Spurs have also finished in the Premier League top three on three occasions during his time with the club.

However, the forward’s performances did take a dip last season, with Son failing to register double-figure Premier League goals for the first time since his debut campaign in North London.

LAFC pushing for Son

Son has just one year left on his Spurs contract and recently turned 33 years old, with his prime now firmly behind him.

New boss Thomas Frank has taken steps to revitalise Tottenham’s forward line with the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United.

MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES

That will only serve to make Son’s life harder when trying to command a starting spot, and Spurs may not be done strengthening their attack this summer.

A change of scenery and a new challenge might be in order, and MLS outfit LAFC look set to offer him just that.

According to GIVEMESPORT (28 July), the Black and Gold have entered talks to sign Son, and they believe a deal is realistic toward the end of the summer window.

Spurs are also understood to be ready to sanction a deal this summer rather than at the end of his contract next year, but first, Son and Frank will meet to discuss his role in the side once the team returns to London from their pre-season tour of Asia.

Son is obligated to play in a friendly against Newcastle United on August 3 in South Korea with Spurs set to lose a large portion of commercial revenue if he doesn’t take part.

LAFC have been one of Major League Soccer’s most successful sides since their founding 10 years ago and have won an MLS Cup, US Open Cup and two Supporters’ Shields among other honours.

The likes of Gareth Bale, Olivier Giroud and Carlos Vela have called BMO Stadium home previously, while Son’s former Spurs teammate Hugo Lloris is their current No.1.

Mikey Moore nearing Rangers loan

Son isn’t the only wideman leaving Spurs this summer, with Mikey Moore also nearing an exit.

At just 17 years old, Moore is at the opposite end of his career to Son and is leaving Tottenham on loan rather than permanently.

The club left Moore, Dane Scarlett and Alfie Devine out of their Asian squad in a bid to find new opportunities.

Moore has already landed one, with the teenage winger nearing a loan switch to Scottish giants Rangers.

Moore has notched one goal and two assists in 21 appearances at senior level for Spurs across all competitions so far, and dazzled at times last season with his speed and trickery.

Hopes are high that Moore can return to become a key member of Thomas Frank’s side following his spell north of the border.

Tottenham have endured a mixed pre-season so far, beating Reading 2-0 before draws against Wycombe (2-2) and Luton (0-0). Up next for the Lilywhites is a clash in Hong Kong against arch-rivals Arsenal.

Tottenham have sent a new message to Harry Kane as the former striker sensation enjoys life with Bayern Munich.

The 32-year-old made a total of 435 appearances, scored 280 goals and notched 63 assists before finally finding a new club in the Bundesliga, where he has quickly become a star abroad.

Tottenham supporters have been hopeful of a Kane return once his time with Bayern comes to an end, but with 85 goals and 24 assists in 96 games, the England international is enjoying his time outside the country.

Thomas Frank could be about to experience a huge shift in the squad this summer, with Son Heung-min being heavily linked with the MLS, and several other stars expected to leave over the coming weeks.

Fans will forever be looking out for announcements regarding Kane’s future at Spurs, but the club’s latest post about the striker has still caught the attention of teammates and supporters.

Thomas Frank prepares for major changes

Football Insider verdict

Supporters were incredibly excited following the signing of Mohammed Kudus on a £55million deal [BBC Sport], but 17 days later, there have not been any further additions to the squad.

Target Morgan Gibbs-White has signed a new contract at Nottingham Forest shortly after Spurs’ “illegal” move for the talented playmaker, and those in North London want to see more ambition from Daniel Levy.

Despite finishing 17th in the Premier League table last season, Ange Postecoglou led the team to the Europa League title, defeating Ruben Amorim‘s Man United in the final in Bilbao.

Frank will need to build on that after being appointed this summer, and with his main experience coming with Brentford over the last few years, his arrival has been met with a mixed reception.

Football Insider understands that Bournemouth would accept £60m for Illia Zabarnyi, despite already losing Milos Kerkez, Dean Huijsen, and possibly Antoine Semenyo next.

Many fans in North London are hopeful ahead of next season, but if the new manager is to be successful, he needs multiple new additions in several areas ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
