Glenn Hoddle, Harry Redknapp, Tim Sherwood: Next Tottenham manager update

Igor Tudor is facing growing pressure on his position as Tottenham Hotspur manager and now has potential replacement lining up to step into the role.

Among those interested in the position are three former Spurs managers, Glenn Hoddle, Harry Redknapp and Tim Sherwood, all of whom have publicly staked their claim.

Former scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Tottenham could be persuaded to go with an experienced option rather than sticking with Tudor.

Bringing in somebody who knows the club and has a pre-existing relationship with the supporters may be the key to galvanising the club in the coming weeks.

They are currently sitting just one point above the relegation zone, with Tudor brought in on a short-term basis, but Tottenham could be forced into a change of manager already.

Glenn Hoddle, Harry Redknapp and Tim Sherwood eye Spurs job

Brown told Football Insider on 5 March that Sam Allardyce could be a contender for Tottenham as they look towards tried and tested Premier League managers.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and with managers queuing up in an attempt to drive the club towards safety, they could be pushed into a decision.

“There’s no shortage of people putting themselves forward,” Brown told Football Insider.

“Glenn Hoddle has said he’d take on the job, Harry Redknapp has said he would be open to it, and Tim Sherwood has said the exact same thing as well.

“I’m surprised that they didn’t go with an experienced option before in terms of knowing the Premier League and how to get out of this type of situation.

“The benefit of having people like that, experienced managers who have been there before, is they know the club and they know the fans.

“It’s easy to get people on their side and pulling in the right direction when you don’t immediately have fans questioning why you’ve been brought in.

“Tottenham need a boost because at the moment they look hopeless, would somebody like Hoddle, Redknapp or Sherwood provide that? It‘s possible.

“But given the job Tudor is doing so far, I don’t think they could do much worse.”

Could Tottenham be forced to sack Igor Tudor?

Tudor’s position at Spurs is growing increasingly uncertain as he has failed to win any of his three games in charge since replacing Thomas Frank.

Spurs’ 3-1 defeat against Crystal Palace in a week where West Ham and Nottingham Forest both picked up points means they are just one point above the relegation zone.

Football Insider revealed on 6 March that Tottenham could be forced to sack Tudor and may have no choice as they drop towards the relegation zone.

Results on the pitch as well as some damning press conference quotes from the boss have seen patience grow thin, and he could soon be moved on.

With growing interest from potential replacements, Spurs are being tempted towards making a change in a last-ditch attempt to save their season.

Micky van de Ven Tottenham Transfer News: Liverpool Told 'ÂŁ70m' Price Tag

Micky van de Ven Tottenham Transfer News: Liverpool Told 'ÂŁ70m' Price Tag - Football Insider
Description

Exclusive: Liverpool told Tottenham will accept ‘£70m’ Micky van de Ven offer

Tottenham Hotspur have placed a ÂŁ70million price tag on Micky van de Ven amid interest from the likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The 24-year-old is widely expected to leave in the summer after what has been a miserable season which could end with Spurs being relegated to the Championship.

Regardless of whether they stay up, however, their likely lack of European football could force a number of key players including Van de Ven out of the door.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, there is no shortage of interest in the Netherlands international and he is expected to move on.

He is under contract in North London until 2029, but that will make little difference should he push to leave Tottenham, who are facing a difficult transfer window.

Football Insider revealed on 8 March that Liverpool are leading the race for Van de Ven and have been handed a boost by Barcelona’s financial situation.

His likely ÂŁ60-70million price tag will likely prove too steep for the Spanish giants to meet, potentially opening the door for the Reds to make a move.

With a growing likelihood that he will leave Spurs in the summer, they are hopeful of receiving a good price, but it could be impacted again if they are relegated.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Yeah, if Tottenham don’t qualify for Europe, some of their best players will be looking to play in European competition.

“It’s no surprise that other clubs are monitoring his situation. Barcelona have been strongly linked with a potential move in Spain.

“But again, there’s a few difficulties for any potential move in that respect because we know Barcelona’s ongoing financial situation.

“With three years left in his contract, you would imagine Tottenham would be looking in excess of £60million to £70million for somebody like Van de Ven.

“Real Madrid have also been linked and Liverpool have been credited with an interest in Van de Ven as well.

“If Spurs were to get relegated, you would imagine Van de Ven would be among a number of players who’d be seeking a move out of Tottenham, and that price tag might drop.

“They won’t be able to afford to keep him and the defender won’t be keen to stick around, so there are a number of clubs who will be interested.”

Tottenham could be forced to sell Archie Gray

Van de Ven is not the only Spurs star who could be on the move after what has proved to be a dismal season, with relegation still a distinct possibility.

Football Insider revealed on 1 March that Tottenham could be forced to sell Archie Gray if they suffer relegation amid growing interest in his situation.

Spurs currently sit just one point above West Ham and the relegation zone, with both the Hammers and Nottingham Forest showing more signs of improvement.

In that case, they would be unable to keep hold of their best players, and the likes of Gray could be quickly snapped up by one of Europe’s top clubs.

Bayern Munich are among those credited with an interest in the former Leeds United star and he could be lured away if Spurs’ results do no turn around.

Tottenham Takeover: Lewis Family Want To Agree Deal With 'NFL Owner'

Keith Wyness: This is who Tottenham’s owners want to agree part-takeover deal with

Tottenham Hotspur’s ownership could look into pairing up with an NFL owner to fulfil the potential of the club.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who thinks Spurs are “very attractive” to potential new investors.

Former Newcastle co-owner Amanda Staveley has been keen to buy Spurs recently, but the Lewis Family Trust do not wish to give away their majority stake.

Spurs are facing a devastating financial blow if they are relegated from the Premier League this season, with the club also needing to maximise revenue from their state-of-the-art 62,000 capacity stadium.

Tottenham deal won’t be ‘getting closed quickly’

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes the multiple revenue streams at Spurs are what would still make it attractive to investors, even in the Championship.

MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks the club could create a “sporting empire” if they teamed up with an NFL owner.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “We know that there’s a relegation battle going on right now, and that’s going to feed into people’s minds as well.

“But the strength, I suppose, of Spurs right now is they’ve got more diversified revenue streams with the new stadium, the NFL games, concerts, etc. So that still makes it very attractive.

“But if they were to go down, we all know that they have to hang on to the asset and get it back up to make it worth the sort of valuation that they think they can achieve. So all in all, it’s something that I think, you know, the company is called Tavistock that the Lewis family have.

“They’ve got other sporting assets as well. And I think they’re going to be looking long and hard, but I think they’d want somebody. I’d always imagined like an NFL owner or somebody in North America, coming together with them to try and create more of a sporting empire is the way that I would see them going rather than taking somebody coming in who really had all their eggs in one basket, if you know what I mean. So I’m afraid I don’t see this one really getting closed quickly.”

Igor Tudor facing Tottenham sack

Sources have told Football Insider that Igor Tudor is close to the sack at Spurs if results do not improve in their next three games.

Tudor was only appointed manager in February following the sacking of Thomas Frank, with the 47-year-old placed in interim charge until the end of the season.

Spurs travel to Liverpool next in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone, looking to win at Anfield for the first time since 2011.

Sources: Liverpool given Micky van de Ven encouragement as rival ‘difficulties’ emerge

Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Tottenham star Micky van de Ven as Barcelona may be forced to pull out of the race.

The 24-year-old is widely expected to leave Spurs at the end of the season after what has been a miserable season, placing a number of top clubs on alert.

Liverpool are among those keeping a close eye on his situation as Arne Slot hopes to bolster his defensive options when the summer transfer window opens.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Barcelona are also very keen on a deal, but will be limited by financial concerns.

The Spanish giants have struggled to agree big transfer fees in recent seasons and this is encouraging to Liverpool as they accelerate their transfer plans.

Liverpool set sights on Micky van de Ven deal

Football Insider revealed earlier this year that Liverpool are interested in Van de Ven as a long-term replacement for his fellow countryman Virgil van Dijk.

Tottenham’s terrible league season, which has them just one point above the relegation zone as things stand, could now see the Reds step up their interest.

Barcelona have been seen as their biggest rivals in the race and remain hopeful of agreeing a deal, but will not be able to compete financially this summer.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “It’s no surprise that other clubs are monitoring his situation.

“Barcelona have been strongly linked with a potential move in Spain, but there’s a few difficulties for any potential move because we know Barcelona’s ongoing financial situation.

“They won’t be able to get anywhere near what it would take to prise Van de Ven away.

“Real Madrid have also been linked, and Liverpool have an interest in Van de Ven as well as they look for defensive reinforcements this summer.

“They’re interested in bringing in a replacement for Ibrahima Konate or a long-term replacement for current captain Virgil van Dijk as well.

“If Spurs were to get relegated, you would imagine Van de Ven would be among a number of players who’d be seeking a move out of Tottenham.”

Could Tottenham keep hold of Van de Ven?

Despite what has been a dismal season in North London, Spurs have been hopeful of keeping hold of their best players including Van de Ven.

Contract talks were planned with the Netherlands international as they looked to reward him for his displays, but doubts are now growing about his long-term future.

Football Insider revealed on 6 March that Van de Ven is not happy at Tottenham and could push to leave in the summer, while contract talks have now stalled.

The 24-year-old was sent off as Igor Tudor’s side lost 3-1 to Crystal Palace last time out, in a new dent to their hopes of staying in the Premier League.

Should they suffer relegation, there is no chance Spurs would be able to keep hold of their best players, and Van de Ven is expected to be one of the first to leave.

‘I haven’t had it verified yet’ – Keith Wyness drops verdict on Amanda Staveley agreeing Tottenham takeover

Amanda Staveley does not have the financial strength to buy Tottenham Hotspur and fulfil the club’s potential.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes Staveley’s hopes of buying the club won’t progress any further.

Staveley, who was co-owner of Newcastle between 2021 and 2024, has funding of over ÂŁ3billion in place to buy Spurs.

The Lewis Family Trust have no intentions of a full sale of Tottenham, but could look to agree a deal to sell a minority share in the club instead.

Amanda Staveley deal ‘stalled’ over financial concerns

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – states that further development could be on the cards at Spurs in the future.

MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes the Lewis Family would not sell Spurs at £3bn.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I’d always heard, and I haven’t had it verified, but I believe there’s a lot of other land that is still owned there by Spurs around the stadium that could lead to further development, hotels and different things as well, so there could well be potential to go further.

“So I don’t think that Amanda and her husband, great people, and they did a great job at Newcastle, we know, PIF, et cetera. But I don’t think they’re quite strong enough financially for what the Lewis family would like as a partner.

“And I don’t think that the Lewis family would sell at certainly at that sort of level. So I don’t see it going that much further. I think it’s going to be stalled at the moment. It’s all in the hands of the Lewis family and deciding what they’re going to do.”

Tottenham could save ÂŁ90m on relegation

Sources have told Football Insider that Spurs could save ÂŁ90million in wages if they suffer relegation to the Championship this season.

Spurs players have relegation salary reduction clauses of up to 50% in their contracts, which would be triggered if the club loses their top flight status.

Igor Tudor lost his third straight game in interim charge against Crystal Palace last time out, leaving Spurs just a point above the relegation zone.

Exclusive: Igor Tudor close to Tottenham sack, this is how many games he’s got left

Igor Tudor is under growing threat of the sack at Tottenham Hotspur and may have just three games to turn around their fortunes before a decision is made.

Upcoming clashes against Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and especially Nottingham Forest will prove decisive for the manager and potentially for Spurs’ Premier League status.

Following their 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, the gap to the relegation zone has closed to just one point, with West Ham and Forest showing more signs of improvement.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, the “huge” defeat against Palace will be followed by three crucial fixtures.

Should Tudor fail to turn around their recent form and suffer further defeats, Tottenham will be looking for a new manager sooner than anybody expected.

Tottenham could be forced to sack Igor Tudor

Football Insider revealed on 6 March that Tottenham could be forced to sack Tudor following the Palace defeat, but remain determined to stick with him for now.

However, should he prove unable to turn around their recent form, they will be left with no choice as they scramble to achieve safety despite a precarious situation.

Results on the pitch as well as some damning press conference quotes from the boss have seen patience grow thin, and he could soon be moved on.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “They obviously brought in Igor Tudor as a bit of a firefighter to try and get Tottenham out of trouble.

“He had a tough start with his first game against North London rivals and league leaders Arsenal, they obviously lost that game, then lost to Fulham.

“As long as they’re not getting results, pressure and scrutiny is going to build on Igor Tudor.

“The Palace game was huge after West Ham closed to within a point of Tottenham, and obviously Nottingham Forest got a big point against Man City.

“They’ve got Atletico Madrid in the Champions League so it’ll be a welcome distraction away from their Premier League struggles.

“Then they go away to Liverpool and then a massive game against Nottingham Forest later in March.

“I think that’ll be a huge game for both clubs obviously down in that relegation dogfight as well. If Spurs don’t [pick up points], they’re going to find themselves in real trouble in that respect.

“Spurs ideally don’t want to have to make another managerial change, but if things don’t improve and results continue as they are, you just never know what the club might be forced into.”

Who could replace Tudor at Tottenham?

Since parting ways with Thomas Frank, plans have been put in place for a long-term replacement to follow in the summer after Tudor’s spell at the helm.

Initial plans had seen Spurs look at the likes of Niko Kovac and Marco Silva, both of whom could be available come the end of the season.

However, with relegation looming, former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Tottenham could turn to Sam Allardyce to save their blushes.

The 71-year-old last managed in 2023 when he was unable to help Leeds United avoid the drop, but he could now be a surprise contender for the Spurs job.

Allardyce is not seen as the “perfect fit” and there is recognition the fans would not be pleased, but they are in a desperate situation and could be forced into a decision.

Tottenham owners want to bring in investor with ‘really deep pockets’ after Amanda Staveley latest

Tottenham Hotspur’s ownership want to keep control of the club and only sell a minority share to a new investor.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, as former Newcastle co-owner Amanda Staveley looks to buy the club.

Staveley reportedly has over ÂŁ3billion in funding to buy Spurs through her consortium, PCP Capital Partners, but the Lewis Family Trust do not wish to relinquish their majority stake.

Spurs, who will face a financial blow if relegated from the Premier League, have made changes behind the scenes this season following the departure of former executive chairman Daniel Levy.

Lewis Family ‘interested in bringing in a partner’ at Tottenham

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – doesn’t think £3bn is enough for Staveley to buy Spurs.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes the ownership will want an investor with deeper pockets.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, I was just speaking to somebody about this yesterday, actually, and it’s interesting.

“This story has been rumbling on for a while that Amanda’s been looking at Spurs and had talks with Daniel Levy and all sorts of things. So it has been rumbling on.

“I don’t think £3billion is enough to buy control from the Lewis family. I think the Lewis family would probably be more interested in bringing in a partner and perhaps selling a minority share to get some cash in potentially.

“Or else, I think that they are looking to partner with a much stronger financial partner rather than somebody like Amanda who’s been able to raise the money together. I think they’re looking for somebody with really deep pockets to join them and maximise the value of Spurs.”

Tottenham facing ÂŁ60m loss

Sources have told Football Insider that Spurs would lose ÂŁ60million in revenue instantly if they are relegated from the Premier League.

Spurs would face a drop in broadcast and matchday revenue, and could face challenges attracting new sponsors to the club.

The north London club are hovering above the Premier League relegation zone, and could be relegated to the second tier for the first time since 1977.

‘Desperate times’: Sam Allardyce backed to take over at Tottenham after Igor Tudor twist

Sam Allardyce has been tipped for a sensational return to Premier League management as Tottenham Hotspur continue to drop towards the relegation zone.

The 71-year-old last managed in 2023 when he was unable to help Leeds United avoid the drop, but he could now be a surprise contender for the Spurs job.

Igor Tudor was appointed as the interim manager in North London, but has lost each of his two games in charge, while his press conferences have been damning.

Former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Tudor’s appointment was a shock to begin with, as the club need somebody with Premier League experience.

While Allardyce is not seen as the “perfect fit” and there is recognition the fans would not be pleased, they are in a desperate situation and Tottenham could soon change managers.

Sam Allardyce tipped to replace Igor Tudor at Tottenham

Brown told Football Insider on 4 March that Tudor could be sacked by Tottenham if their results do not improve, with their clash against Crystal Palace likely to be key.

Spurs are currently just one point outside the relegation zone after West Ham and Nottingham Forest picked up points, and could be forced into drastic action.

“I was surprised when they brought Tudor in,” Brown told Football Insider.

“He’s never managed in the Premier League and never managed a club like Tottenham, it’s a different ball game entirely.

“It sounds like a cliche, but somebody like Sam Allardyce would have been a better option short-term when they want somebody to keep them up.

“Not that he’s the perfect option or somebody Tottenham fans would be happy with, but he would keep them up and that should be their primary aim now.

“It’s crazy to have to say it, but Tottenham are fighting against relegation and they need somebody who is going to come in, make them solid and get the best out of the players.

“That’s something we’ve seen Sam, and other managers like him, do time and time again. It wouldn’t be a long-term thing, but they cannot afford to get relegated.

“I don’t think Tudor will keep them up with the way he’s been speaking and the way they’ve been playing, so they may have to go and get somebody who will.

“Desperate times call for desperate measures, and these are definitely desperate times for Spurs.”

Who will be the next Tottenham manager?

Regardless of whether he is able to keep Tottenham in the Premier League, Tudor is not expected to stay on as the manager beyond the end of the season.

As a result, Spurs have been looking at a number of big-name bosses to step in and turn around their fortunes after what has been a dismal couple of seasons.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 2 March that Niko Kovac could be an option for Tottenham, although Borussia Dortmund are determined to keep him.

The likes of Pochettino and Marco Silva are also targets for Spurs and both could be available ahead of the summer when they will be desperately searching.

Pochettino is currently managing the USA and will lead them at the World Cup, but could be available after, while Silva is out of contract at Fulham.

Tottenham Financial News: Instant ÂŁ60m+ Relegation Blow Revealed - Football Insider
Description

Exclusive: Tottenham face instant ÂŁ60m+ blow after relegation

Tottenham Hotspur will instantly lose more than ÂŁ60million in revenue if they are relegated from the Premier League this season, sources have told Football Insider.

Spurs have endured a miserable campaign to date as they currently sit 16th in the Premier League table.

Third-bottom West Ham’s 1-0 victory over Fulham and 17th-placed Nottingham Forest’s 2-2 draw against Manchester City on Wednesday (4 March) saw both of those sides pull within one point of Tottenham.

However, Igor Tudor’s side have played a game less than their relegation rivals, with Crystal Palace visiting the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (5 March).

Tottenham would face severe financial repercussions if they were to lose their Premier League status over the coming months due to the significant prize money on offer in the top flight.

Why Tottenham are facing significant revenue blow

Tottenham are in a poor run of form in the Premier League, having failed to win any of their past 10 games.

Tudor has suffered defeat in both of his matches in charge since being drafted in as Thomas Frank’s replacement until the end of the season.

Relegation would be unthinkable for a club like Tottenham, who have played in the top flight since 1978.

In terms of the financial impact, Southampton earned ÂŁ109.2m in Premier League payments after finishing bottom of the table last season.

Meanwhile, the clubs who were relegated to the Championship in 2023-24 – Sheffield United, Burnley and Luton Town – were paid £48.9m in parachute payments last season, making a £60.3m difference between the two leagues.

That is before any potential impact to commercial and matchday revenues are factored in, with a club like Tottenham having much less appeal in the second tier compared to the Premier League.

Why Tottenham are already facing commercial issue

It has already been revealed Tottenham have lost a key sponsor worth millions following their on-field struggles.

The Telegraph reported on 19 February the long-standing partner has notified the north London giants its deal will end this summer, with others believed to be weighing up whether to follow suit.

It comes as a major blow to Spurs after they have enjoyed strong commercial growth since moving into their 62,850-capacity stadium in 2019.

Deloitte’s 2026 Money League revealed Tottenham’s commercial revenue stood at £277m last season, helping them record an overall turnover of £565m.

However, relegation to the Championship would severely impact those numbers.

Tudor now has 10 games to turn the club’s form around as he looks to keep them in the Premier League this season.

‘Really scary’ – Tottenham set for ‘massive’ player exodus

Tottenham Hotspur face massive changes to their squad to prepare for life in the Championship if they are relegated from the Premier League.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, after it was revealed Spurs do have salary reduction clauses in player contracts.

The north London club face the prospect of relegation from the Premier League for the first time in their history, with Igor Tudor having lost his first two games in charge.

Tudor’s side sit just four points above the relegation zone, and Spurs would face financial challenges if they dropped into the second tier.

Tottenham must ‘rebuild their squad’ in the Championship

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – states the Championship would be “very tough” for Spurs to get out of.

MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks the club are “lucky” to have extra revenue streams to benefit from.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “You’re also going to have to rebuild your squad to do well in the Championship, because a lot of those Premiership players do not work in the Championship effectively given the heavy schedule and the type of football that’s played there.

“It’s a long battle. It’s a very, very tough season in the Championship and it takes a certain type of mindset and quality of player to get through it. So Spurs would have to reorganise, but they’re going to have to do it with a lower cost base.

“Certainly the parachute payments are only there really effectively for one or two seasons and that’s the only thing that makes a difference for you. They’re lucky they have got the other revenue streams coming from the stadium.

“Overall it’s a really scary proposition, and they will definitely need those massive player reductions to be able to keep the cost base and put together a competitive squad.”

Igor Tudor facing Tottenham pressure

Sources have told Football Insider that Tudor could leave Spurs before the end of the season if their poor run of form continues.

Performances have yet to improve alongside results in his first two games in charge, whilst Tudors’ comments in press conferences have also been concerning.

The club want to bring Mauricio Pochettino back to north London, but their managerial search in the summer will depend on whether they remain in the Premier League.
