The Super Swede has bagged 20 goals in his debut season at Parkhead so far and is on course for a World Cup call-up

Benjamin Nygren has been touted for a mega-bucks move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The Swedish talisman has rattled 20 goals in his debut season at Celtic Park and is chasing a league and Scottish Cup Double. Nygren - also linked with Brighton and Bournemouth - arrived last year from FC Nordsjælland in a bargain £1.2million switch.

Now, Celts stand to make a stunning profit on the 24-year-old, who is also set for a dream World Cup call-up this summer. With clubs across Europe sniffing, ex-Scotland and Chelsea star Pat Nevin reckons the midfield goal machine would be a perfect fit at struggling Spurs.

He said: "Benjamin Nygren’s numbers are really good. I think he's one in two per game goalscoring in Scotland for Celtic.

"Now, in the past that wouldn't have been so impressive because Celtic got a lot of goals and were miles better than everyone else, and it was a cruise. That's not the case now because they've had a tougher season.

"So yeah, it sounds good, he's just coming into the prime of his career. He's tall enough. He's not an out and out striker, but he'll come from slightly deeper and score goals from wide.

"So, in an underperforming Celtic in comparison to years gone by, he's had a super season.

"Many would suggest he'll get player of the season for Celtic, and that's probably enough to say, yeah, well worth taking a chance. But I don't think Spurs will be the only team interested in him. I think there'll be others."

Meanwhile Nevin reckons the Old Firm should reignite their interest in Leeds United striker Joel Piroe.

Former PSV hitman Piroe has become a bit-part player at Elland Road this season, scoring just once in 19 appearances. It's believed the 26-year-old was on Danny Rohl's radar in January, but decided to stay and fight for a regular starting place under Daniel Farke.

That hasn't worked out, and Piroe is expected to leave the club this summer. That could see Gers revive their interest, and they'd be almost certain to be at the front of any queue, given that both clubs are part of the San Francisco 49ers stable.

That would all but end any chance of Piroe pitching up at Celtic Park. But Nevin said: "Joel Piroe is a classic case of if you're lucky in the transfer market and you can get someone like him. Have a look at what he did before. Before Leeds got to the Premier League, he had a great couple of seasons before that. His goalscoring rate is fantastic.

"And it's not a fluke, it's not one off. The Championship is a phenomenal level. It's a hard competition to score goals in. Don't do it down because everyone just talks about the Premier League.

"On top of that, you're thinking, he did it with Swansea as well. Rangers have actually done well in the last year or so for goalscorers. You know, the likes of Bojan Miovski came in, did a good job, decent job for them.

"They've had injuries, but in reality he could be at least as good as anyone they've got there. So if you were Rangers, or indeed if you were Celtic, going after him would be my no-brainer for you. That's why I call him a no-brainer."

The Scotland captain is expected to join Spurs in the summer - if they avoid relegation

Out of contract Liverpool star Andy Robertson would consider a move to Celtic if Tottenham Hotspur are relegated this season.

That's according to former Scotland international Pat Nevin, who reckons that other options will be on the table outside of North London following the World Cup.

Robertson will bring the curtain down on a glittering nine years with the Reds where he has lifted every major honour possible - with reporting suggest that the 32-year-old has "verbally agreed" to join Tottenham.

Spurs showed interest in the left-back in January and Robertson appears to be open to a move, provided they avoid relegation from the Premier League.

With five games remaining, Tottenham are two points from safety and trail London neighbours West Ham.

Roberto de Zebri - who is the club's third manager of the season - is winless in his first two games in charge.

With Spurs facing the prospect of the drop, Nevin reckons the Scotland skipper could be tempted to move to his boyhood heroes if an offer comes in - or join Atletico Madrid if the Spanish giants revive their interest from last summer.

He said: “It's a big step down [the Championship], but not in terms of being too posh to play that low, but the glory that he's had so many times, that's a big call.

"There are very, very few players of that ilk and that standard that, given the opposite, and the fact that we've heard that there's a possibility of staying in the top level in Spain, or staying in top level in Scotland, or staying in the top level somewhere else, it's such a temptation."

However, the former Chelsea and Everton star conceded there could be some "joy" in playing for the struggling English giants in the second tier: "Having said that, if he went to Spurs in the Championship, the hope and likelihood is they'd win the league, or certainly get promoted, which would be a joy in itself.

"And remember, the stadium's great, and it is a phenomenal-sized club, and it might be great to be part of the rebuild, but it's not a selling point, let's be fair.

"The Championship, considering the quality of player he is coming back from the World Cup, I think there might be other options at the top level.”

Pat Nevin was speaking to Prime Casino, an online casino with a wide range of slots like Football Cash Collect Slot.

The left-back faces the prospect of playing Championship football if he pens a deal in North London

Out of contract Andy Robertson is unlikely to agree to play for Tottenham if they are relegated to the English Championship.

That is according to former Scotland international Kevin Gallacher - who reckons the 32-year-old will have plenty of options on the table.

The Scotland captain has announced he will bring the curtain down on a glittering nine years with the Reds where he has lifted every major honour possible - including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Reports suggest that the 32-year-old has "verbally agreed" to join Tottenham - who showed interest in the left-back in January - provided they avoid relegation from the Premier League.

But a winless first two games for Roberto De Zerbi, Spurs are currently a point behind West Ham with just five games left to save their season - with Nuno's sitting with a game in hand.

Gallacher reckons that Roberston won't be "anxious" to drop into the second-tier with the North London club - and would consider other options abroad if Spurs were relegated.

Discussing the left-back - who has also been touted with a move to boyhood club Celtic - Gallacher wrote for the Sunday Post: "Regarding dugout changes, there are a few people down south who to would like to see Tottenham get relegated because it would send a message that too much chopping and changing can do considerable damage.

"Football is not just a business. Spurs have been heavily linked with our own Andy Robertson, who is to leave Liverpool after nine terrific years at Anfield.

"At 32, Andy will be anxious to keep playing, but not so anxious that I would see him agreeing to sign for them if they went down to the Championship.

"If they stay up that might fit the bill, though the chance to join the raft of his young Scotland teammates who have headed for Italy would surely hold appeal.

"And likewise with any Spanish options he may have."

The Scotland captain is expected to make the switch to North London in the summer - if they avoid the drop

Out of contract Liverpool star Andy Robertson "would go to Celtic" if an offer came in with a summer switch to Tottenham in jeopardy.

The Scotland captain has announced he will bring the curtain down on a glittering nine years with the Reds where he has lifted every major honour possible - including two Premier League titles.

Reports suggest that the 32-year-old has "verbally agreed" to join Tottenham - who showed interest in the left-back in January - provided they avoid relegation from the Premier League.

After losing Roberto De Zerbi's first game in charge, Spurs are currently two points from safety with just six games left to save their season.

Should the deal fall apart, Mulgrew - who was international teammates with Robertson - reckons that the defender would jump at the chance to join the Hoops, if an offer came in.

He told talkSPORT: “I think he would go to Celtic. I don’t want to speak for him, but I’d imagine being a Celtic fan is a great opportunity for him at 32.

“He’s still got a lot to give, but I don’t think can Celtic afford to put a budget in two left backs of Kieran Tierney and Andy Robertson.

“I don’t imagine Celtic will want to pay the two left backs the biggest wages. I think if Celtic are going to put wages like that towards a player, it’ll be a forward area.”

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer - who was relegated while in charge of the Magpies in 2009 - admits he has changed his view on Spurs' fate following last weekend's loss to The Black Cats.

The Match of the Day pundit told Betfair: "I have changed my opinion on Spurs being relegated, because I look at the other clubs in and around them and how they are.

"I look at West Ham, who are fighting and scrapping. I look at Leeds, who got a great result and are fighting and scrapping. I look at Forest, who got a point and who are fighting and scrapping.

"I don't see that with Tottenham. We were looking for the manager bounce in the first game and clearly that didn't happen. It looks as if Romero's going to be out for the rest of the season, which is a blow.

"As we sit here now, Tottenham are the team that are going down because I don't see enough fight. I don't see enough attitude, I don't see enough desire to try and keep them in the Premier League, whereas the teams in and around them are showing exactly that."

Sports finance expert Professor Rob Wilson has warned Tottenham of the financial impact facing the club should they drop to the second tier of English football with the club paying out a £2.63m gross per week wage bill - the seventh highest in the Premier League.

Wilson told The i Paper: “Some other clubs could even have 90 per cent relegation clauses or agreements for players to move.

“But because Spurs have been relatively stable in the Premier League, they don’t have the clause they would need in order to properly survive.

“It’s nowhere near enough. You need a minimum 75 per cent relegation clause in order to balance your books when you go down.”

Robertson will leave Liverpool after nine years at Anfield and it looks like an emotional Parkhead homecoming is off the table

Andy Robertson as 'agreed' to join Tottenham Hotspur on a free this summer, according to a report.

The Scotland skipper is set to leave Liverpool after nine years at Anfield when his current contract expires at the end of the season.

Now Fabrizio Romano claims the former Dundee Utd star has "verbally agreed" to join Spurs - provided they avoid relegation from the English Premier League.

The North London club enqiured about signing Robertson during the January transfer window, but that was booted out by the Reds as a non-starter.

Now it's claimed that Robertson has an agreement in place to make the move to Roberto Di Zerbi's men if the Italian can keep them in the top flight.

Spurs slipped into the relegation zone thanks to West Ham's 4-0 drubbing of Wolves on Friday night.

They don't play away at Sunderland until tomorrow so could find themselves stuck there this weekend depending on they fare on Wearsaide and how other results go.

Robertson had been linked with a return to boyhood club Celtic, nearly two decades after being released as a 15-year-old.

And while he's admitted it's a move he's often thought about, Robertson revealed that there will come a point where he wouldn't want to do it and be a shadow of his former self.

He said: "Every time I watch Celtic, I consider it.

“When you watch them and see a packed Celtic Park... as a fan you always have that dream. Ideally I want to finish my career here at Liverpool. If I can stay at the top of my game, at the top of the tree my whole career, that’s the route I want to go down.

“But also, when I look at Celtic and when I was growing up, I was thinking I wanted to give them my best years. When I was at Queen’s Park I had a dream of still playing with Celtic and always dreamed of giving my best years to Celtic.

“And now I don’t want to go as a 34 or 35-year-old old guy that my uncles start hating on me because I can’t move any more! Time will tell. I’m very much a person who lives in the moment."

The loanee has impressed at Ibrox this season with the club in the midst of a scrap for the title

Rangers loanee Mikey Moore has stated he wants to make a claim for a spot in Tottenham Hotspur's plans for next seasn.

The North London giants are in the midst of a relegation scrap and have axed their second boss of the season with Igor Tudor shown the door in the midst of the crisis. Defeat to relegation rivals Nottingham Forest before the international break leaves Spurs just a point outside the drop zone.

In contrast, teenager Moore has impressed on loan in the Scottish Premiership and emerged as a key man for Rangers in their bid to land the title. Gaffer Danny Rohl has admitted he would like to work out a deal for the wonderkid to remain in Glasgow next season.

But the 18-year-old's focus next season appears to be elsewhere, as he opened up about his future to Tottenham club media. He has endured a rollercoaster campaign from Russell Martin's nightmare tenure, to being dragged into a three-way title fight with Hearts and Celtic by boss Danny Rohl.

Reflecting on his time at Ibrox so far, Moore said: "I have had a bit of everything in four-five months and now we have got a chance to go and win a title. There is a title race going on, and at my age that is what you want.

"You want to be involved in them games and be under that pressure. It has kind of been perfect for me so far.

"Hopefully in April and May we are in a good position to push for the title. There are some huge games to look forward to."

Moore then dropped a major hint that his long-term future remained with Spurs - despite uncertainty over what division the club will play in next term.

Discussing his future, the wide man said: "I just want to go back to Tottenham and hopefully get myself a place in the team.

"Obviously we have got that experience of winning that trophy in the Europa League and that's what I want to do at Tottenham. I just want to bring them special moments to the fans, really."

Mikey Moore meets dreaded Rangers scenario head on as he bares all on the key difference between Rohl and Ange

Mikey Moore meets dreaded Rangers scenario as he makes major trophy vow - Daily Record
Description

The 18-year-old has been electric during his season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur as he dreams of title glory

Upfront Mikey Moore admits not returning to Rangers next season would be a gut-punch as he vowed to do everything to help seal only a second Premiership title in 15 years.

The 18-year-old has been electric during his season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur and is a vital part of the side which is smack bang in the middle of a three-way title fight for the ages with Hearts and Celtic.

Moore is open to a return to Ibrox next season but Rangers may have to play the waiting game with Spurs locked in a relegation dogfight with the England youth international likely to be the fulcrum of any rebuild if they dropped to the Championship.

The playmaker has allowed himself to think what it would be like if he doesn't return, as he attempts to do everything in his power to make a telling impact in his side's final seven games.

Speaking to The Athletic, Moore said: "I've thought about this already. I don't know what's going to happen in the summer but if it plays out that I'm not going back it's going to be really tough as I do genuinely love the club and this city. I have made a connection with the fans. These last seven games are massive. Every second I'm on the pitch I'm going to make the most of it and leave everything on the pitch."

Moore was a fringe man for Spurs last season but got first-hand experience of what it feels like to deliver a trophy to a fanbase. And he wants to replicate that at Ibrox with Rangers three points behind leaders Hearts with 21 still to play for.

He added: "This means everything to me. Last year winning the Europa League was unbelievable but I didn't have as much of a part to play. I feel a responsibility to try and help the team lift the title. We either end it with nothing or the biggest prize you can win."

Moore has also provided a further insight into the inner workings of Ange Postecoglou and what happened before the Australian made him the youngest Premier League player in Tottenham's history when he was awarded his debut.

The former Celtic boss is hailed for his modernity but the Ibrox loanee has explained the old-school nature of his approach before receiving one of his early career highlights.

He said: "He showed trust in me by playing me and I could tell he liked me, but I never spoke to him. He just said 'you're coming on' against Man City for my debut. For my first start I found out in the meeting two hours before the game when the team was on the screen. He stays quite far away and tries to not have as much of a relationship so that when it comes down to big decisions and he has to leave people out, he doesn't have feelings.

"Obviously, a decision was made (to sack him after winning the Europa League) by the people at the top of the club but for me it was a bit of a surprise. When we won I thought he would stay and try to build on what he had done."

But it's a different story when it comes to Danny Rohl. The Rangers boss opened his doors and served his teenage prodigy a rallying message about his importance to the team.

And Moore has revealed the call to arms he was sent from Rohl before the game against Kilmarnock in October which has resulted in Moore becoming a key man in the German's 4-2-2-2 formation.

He said: "I got called into his office. He said: ‘You’re not starting but don’t worry you’re going to come on, maybe at halftime or after 55 minutes, and you’re going to make an impact today’—and I did.

“He told me I was going to be a massive player for us and, by the end of the season, be one of our best players. Those were his words. It gave me belief in myself and made me feel wanted by him. I wanted to repay that.”

The youngster – who revealed his Rangers-daft girlfriend gave him pelters in the wake of last month's Scottish Cup defeat to Celtic – has revealed a telling tweak has paid off big time.

Moore added: “I was in a hotel for over a month while I tried to sort out where to stay, so my nutrition wasn’t right. I have a big focus on that now. That’s been massive and I feel a big physical improvement. I feel a lot better. I work with someone day-to-day outside the club with my movement and my nutrition. I’ve changed my diet a lot which is big for me the way I’m built.”

And the Rangers star – beloved by fans – admits he's come a long way in Light Blue as he reflected on a day of errors under the ill-fated Russell Martin era against Hearts.

Moore was miles off it and he knows it, and he got first-hand experience of how unforgiving an arena Ibrox can be when things don't go your way. And he insists he wouldn't have it any other way.

He said: “I tried to forget about that!. That was a bad day for me. I had a disaster. I could feel the fans getting on my back. Nothing was going right for me. I could have played simpler at times and tried to get myself back in credit. Just keep it and stop doing what I was doing and giving the ball away.

“You can prepare yourself and people can try to prepare you, but once you get hit with it, it’s different. It’s something I’ve never experienced before.

“It was a tough time. I had been dragged off a few times. It was mentally tough to deal with. I could feel it from the gaffer and the fans. I didn’t want to experience too many more days like that. The difference between then and now is madness.”

The loanee has impressed this season at Ibrox while his parent club fight the drop

Tottenham Hotspur's struggles at the foot of the Premier League table won't help Rangers keep loanee Mikey Moore next season.

That's according to Ibrox legend Ian Durrant. He believes the North London club would want to keep the 18-year-old at the club if they are relegated Tottenham are in real danger of dropping out of the English top flight.

Defeat to relegation rivals Nottingham Forest last weekend leaves Spurs just a point outside the drop zone having failed to win a game since Igor Tudor was named as boss.

In contrast, teenager Moore has impressed on loan in the Scottish Premiership and emerged as a key man for Rangers in their bid to land the title.

Gaffer Danny Rohl has admitted he would like to work out a deal for the wonderkid to remain in Glasgow next season.

Former Rangers' boss and captain Barry Ferguson told the 5 Stars Podcast: "I thought on Saturday [against Aberdeen] he was great, and every time he got the ball something was going to happen, that's how I felt.

"His finish was brilliant. I like him, he just pops up in areas that he is difficult to pick up. For an 18-year-old he has been top class. Hopefully we can try our best and keep a hold of him for next season."

Durrant noted the struggles of his parent club as a factor: "It's not really helping us the way Tottenham are playing, and the way Mikey Moore is playing.

"I'm sure things will happen, but at the present moment he seems to be enjoying his football and that's part of it now.

"He is an 18-year-old with an older man's head on his shoulders. It would be great to see him next year.

"But, this year, if he was to leave and go up the road I would love for him to leave with a league winners medal. It would be great for him."

Ferguson added: "He has come up a boy and goes back a man. For me right now he is the difference maker for Rangers."

Speaking last weekend, Moore conceded his future was up in the air: "We're going to see. Obviously, I don't know what's happening with the manager and what's happening at the club at the minute.

"We'll see how the season ends, who comes in and I'm going to speak to people and just try and find the best solution for me."

The on-loan teenager dazzled again in light blue in the Premiership romp over Aberdeen at Ibrox

Mikey Moore admits the situation at troubled Tottenham could decide whether he is allowed to return to Rangers next season.

The on-loan Spurs kid has been an Ibrox sensation this season and showed again his burgeoning talents with a man of the match display in Saturday night’s 4-1 win over Aberdeen. Boss Danny Rohl admitted after that display that he’s as keen as the rest of the Gers support to see Moore back in blue next term.

But the final say on that will be made by the youngster’s Premier League parent club. And with Spurs scrapping for their lives at the wrong end of the English top-flight, the 18-year-old England under-18s cap acknowledged his own future could very well hinge on which division the North London outfit are playing in next season.

New interim boss Igor Tudor has picked up just one point from four league games in charge and now leads his side into a crucial relegation crunch against Nottingham Forest today, knowing defeat would leave his team in real danger of losing their top-flight status for the first time in 48 years.

Moore said: “Yeah, we're going to see. Obviously, I don't know what's happening with the manager and what's happening at the club at the minute. We'll see how the season ends, who comes in and I'm going to speak to people and just try and find the best solution for me.

"This loan has been unbelievable for me and if it's right for me next year, then I'd love to stay here, but we have to see what's going to happen.”

Moore was watched by Tottenham’s loan manager and former Rangers chief scout Andy Scoulding on Saturday night as he scored the second of his side’s four goals against the Dons. And he’s waiting for news on what plans his main employers have in store for him.

“Yeah, to be honest, I don't know if there's been much club-to-club contact yet, but I know that people have spoke to me and the people around me, so conversations are happening and we'll see what happens come the end of the season,” he said.

“I just want to enjoy the last seven games and obviously I've absolutely loved it up here, so we'll see what happens. The loans manager at Spurs is Andy Scolding, who used to work up here, so he was a big influence in me coming here in the first place.

“He explained to me what he feels it can help me with and I think he was completely right with everything he said. I'll speak to him, I think he was up here watching the game. I'll probably ring him after, so we'll see what he says.”

Rangers were under pressure to respond to Hearts’ win over Dundee earlier on Saturday. But they refused to buckle and swatted Stephen Robinson’s dismal Dons aside. With seven games to go, there’s no room for error but Moore says his side are growing more confident by the week.

He said: "People throughout the season have written us off many, many times. It was written off two weeks ago (after throwing away a two-goal lead in the Old Firm draw with Celtic), so it's always a chance to get back in it.

“For us, it's just building on what we've done and trying to not slip up, hopefully, and just keep picking up three points. It's a big team collective and the fans can be a massive part of that and play a big part in what we're doing.”

“Saturday was a really good team performance. We've done well to come out with the three points and I think we had the performance to go with it. I’m really happy with it and I think the gaffers are happy as well, so it's always good.”

The Light Blues ran out 4-1 winners over struggling Aberdeen at Ibrox

Danny Rohl has told the Rangers fans he’ll do everything in his power to keep Mikey Moore at Ibrox.

The on-loan Spurs winger put in a man-of-the-match display in their 4-1 victory over Aberdeen, scoring their second goal with a terrific finish. The home support sang Moore’s name and gave him a standing ovation when he was eventually subbed off by Rohl late on.

The 18-year-old has impressed since moving to Glasgow but is due to return to London in the summer. Rohl has reiterated his desire to get the youngster back to Rangers next term and admits talks have already started with the Premier League outfit.

Spurs and Moore would need to agree to a second loan stint but the German wants to make it happen. After goals from Tochi Chukwuani, Moore, Nico Raskin and James Tavernier kept them on the coat-tails of Hearts in the title race, Rohl was asked about supporters wanting Moore to stay and said: “Me as well! There’s no question mark.

“We started this week to prepare for the summer. We’re in a good position and we are very clear about what we want.

“It’s also helpful now that we have an idea of how I want to play football. We’re committed with a fantastic owner and good people around me.

"Everything goes in the right direction. We’re working hard to prepare for next season but let’s finish this one strong and successful.

“I think conversations are always there (regarding Moore). We know when Mikey performs like this, he enjoys playing for Rangers.

“The fans love him, I like him and he’s a key player. There’s a lot of good things, where we could go again together.

“But he’s still not our player so let’s work in that direction. The most important thing is to get results in our next seven games.

“He enjoys it here and he’s getting better and better.”

Rohl was delighted with his side’s dominant display against the Dons as they stayed just three points off Hearts at the top of the Premiership table.

He’s urged his players to keep performing at that level and attempt to win every one of their remaining games in the title race.

If they do that and pick up victories, the Gers gaffer is convinced they can lift the trophy.

If they win their next game at home to Dundee United, they could go top of the league before rivals Hearts and Celtic play.

Rohl said: “It was a great performance today. We spoke about getting a result and performance and we got both.

“It makes me really happy to see my team perform like this.

“We want to see goals but also clean sheets.

“The only small thing today was that we let Aberdeen back in for a short moment at 2-0.

“But in general, we played with intensity, we were aggressive and it was a good performance.

“It’s a small statement from us, especially with the goal difference.

“We’ve won our last two ‘cup finals’. Now we have seven more to go.

“We cannot influence the schedule. We just want to win the next two games before we go into the split and the final five games will be exciting.

“What’s important is that we have something to celebrate on the final match day.

“It doesn’t matter what the others are doing. If we win the seven games, we’ll win the league.”
