Tottenham are now said to be looking to do some big attacking transfer business as they look to continue their summer splurge.

Spurs have been very busy this summer, racking up a record spend of more than £235million, and they are not done there.

Sanro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke have come in on huge-money deals, but with the defence and midfield addressed, attention is now turning to the attack.

Spurs want an attacker, and maybe even two, with Roberto De Zerbi promising another 'bomba' or two in his recent address from Australia. A winger is likely to be Tottenham's priority, and they could do with a winger who can also play up top. The latest transfer claim involves a Liverpool star, and there could be more than one attacker signed.

Tottenham eyeing big Liverpool deal

Reporter Paul O'Keefe has claimed Liverpool attacker Cody Gakpo now leads Tottenham's wishlist. He posted on X: "Cody Gakpo now a leading contender as Tottenham look to add to their attacking options." O'Keefe then clarified: "As far as I understand it's in addition to Savinho."

Signing both attackers would be a huge statement from Tottenham, with Savinho likely to cost more than £60million, while Gakpo, who earns around £250,000-per-week, will be a similar price, perhaps even up to £70million.

That could mean another £120-130million investment from Tottenham, and it would take their total investments to more than £350million, but there is going to be money coming into the club. Luka Vuskovic brought in £46million, while Cristian Romero, Guglielmo Vicario and Licas Bergvall could all depart this summer. Between all four, Spurs are likely to bring in north of £175million, so their spending will be balanced, at least somewhat.

That could make an attacking double deal possible, but getting Savinho and Gakpo over the line could be a tricky prospect.

De Zerbi will love Gakpo's approach

What De Zerbi will like about Gakpo is that the Dutchman is the type of player who grabs the game by the scruff rather than shrinking in big moments. It's something Jurgen Klopp noted when he said: "He doesn't want to jump on a running train, he wants to push the train. I like that a lot."

Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up alternatives to Junior Kroupi after deciding to delay a pursuit of the Bournemouth striker.

The young French forward suffered a foot injury during pre-season with the Cherries and has undergone surgery. He's set to miss the next 3-4 months, and as a result, Spurs are reportedly set to wait until next year to move for the 20-year-old.

Roberto De Zerbi is still expected to be handed a new number nine this summer, and the club have a list of other targets. Having already forked out over £230 million on new signings, including £100m on Sandro Tonali, the transfer chiefs may be cautious about overspending with a future Kroupi pursuit in mind.

One of the names on Tottenham's list is Club Brugge's Nicolo Tresoldi, who has been talked up for a move to one of Europe's big guns this summer. He is highly sought after, and Barcna are also admirers of the German-Italian youngster.

Tresoldi has also garnered interest from Borussia Dortmund and AS Roma following an eye-catching season in the Belgian Pro League. He found the back of the net 23 times in 58 games across competitions, including in a 3-3 draw against Barca in the Champions League.

At just 21 years old, he could be a long-term acquisition for the Lilywhites while also helping add much-needed firepower to De Zerbi's squad. He is a modern centre-forward who makes deep runs and links up well with his fellow attackers.

Spurs Risking Kroupi If They Move For Tresoldi

Spurs could reap the rewards of swooping for Tresoldi, dubbed a 'Luis Suarez regen' given his potential and the need for De Zerbi to have more potency up top. Richarlison's future is uncertain, while Dominic Solanke's injury record is a concern ahead of the Italian's first full campaign in charge.

The Kroupi situation will surely be factored in, though, as moving for a young striker could jeopardise a pursuit of the 20-year-old. It's important that the higher-ups consider the knock-on effect of the German's potential arrival.

If the Lilywhites intend to move for Kroupi, signing a player of a similar age doesn't feel like the best approach. Instead, moving for a short-term experienced solution, much like Chelsea swooping for Danny Welbeck, could be the answer.

There is no mention of a fee, but it's worth noting that he cost £30 million when he arrived at the Gtech Community Stadium from Club Brugge in July 2024. Thiago, hailed as a 'sensational' frontman, has five years left on his contract, meaning a deal probably won't be cheap.

Tottenham are looking to build a team that is ready to compete quickly, and bringing in 30-year-old Watkins would undoubtedly help them to achieve that.

But considering the top target was Eli Junior Kroupi, it would be a big change in profile, which may raise some question marks. But with Kroupi's foot injury ruling him out of contention for a move until 2027 at least, it's possible that Spurs are looking at Watkins as a short-term option, before trying to bring in Kroupi in the future.

Ultimately, Watkins would be an improvement on the current striker options and would help them solve their issues, so it's one to keep an eye on.

Tottenham's attacker search could take them to City star Omar Marmoush, who could serve as an alternative to Savinho, who Spurs have eyed for much of the summer. De Zerbi spoke to Football.London this week and said: "The transfer market, it's not finished for sure, but we completed 60 per cent of our project in the transfer market. Now we have another bomba!" That next signing doesn't appear to be Marmoush, but a player does seem to be incoming.

Meanwhile, asked about the potential of signing an attacker, De Zerbi added: "I hope, but it's not finished for sure."

The same story adds that De Zerbi is a 'big admirer' of Marmoush, who is a potential target, along with Savinho. Although it will almost certainly be one or the other, given Tottenham's big spending and the fact City are not going to sell both attackers, especially not to the same team.

Marmoush joined City in 2025 from Eintracht Frankfurt on a £59million deal, and he has since scored 10 times in 37 league appearances. Marmoush is more of a central striker than Savinho, but he can also operate comfortably out wide, and that versatility is something Spurs will like, given they could do with an attacker who can cover both the wide and central positions.

City would likely ask for big money to sell Marmoush, likely to want a profit on their investment in the 27-year-old. There is also the large matter of Marmoush's wage, which is reported to be £250,000-per-week as things stand, and that will have to be matched, or perhaps even increased.

Marmoush has 'something special'

Marmoush had a particularly big impact early on in his time at City, after arriving in the January window of 2025, and Erling Haaland said of the forward last year: "He has something special. He's going to be a fantastic player for us. It's about getting to know him as soon as possible, because there are so many important games coming."

Rashford and United have cut ties completely, and thus, the player's representatives and the north-west club are looking for a solution for him this summer.

Arsenal have long been mooted as a potential suitor for the divisive winger, but talkSPORT correspondent Alex Crook doesn't believe Mikel Arteta would approve signing a player who doesn't fit into his dressing room culture at the Emirates.

Instead, Crook has revealed that he 'could see' Rashford ending up signing for the Gunners' North London rivals, Tottenham.

“I think if he goes anywhere in London, I'm keeping an eye on Tottenham," he told talkSPORT.

“I could see that deal happening. Roberto De Zerbi believes that he can get the best out of Marcus Rashford.

"When you say a cheap deal, I think probably an offer of £30million will be accepted by Manchester United, but you have to factor in he's on £325,000 a week at Old Trafford, and doesn't seem too willing to take a pay cut."

Spurs have spent big on their defence and midfield already this summer, adding the likes of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke to Roberto De Zerbi's ranks for a combined £237 million.

Thus, the Lilywhites might be looking for a market opportunity as they attempt to bolster their attack. Given Rashford could be available for as little as £30 million, Spurs would be forgiven for viewing the England international as a potential bargain signing.

However, when you factor in his enormous wage package, which Crook alluded to, then the player looks rather expensive all of a sudden. Combine this with his age and the fact that he'd likely want a lengthy contract, and the deal becomes somewhat unappealing.

Savinho would give De Zerbi plenty of options when it comes to his attack due to his versatility in the final third.

The left-winger is equally capable of playing on the right flank and he also has experience of operating as an attacking midfielder as well if required.

Savinho did make 36 appearances in all competitions for Manchester City last season, starting seven games in the Premier League and four in the Champions League.

Rafael Leao has been loosely linked with a switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, although AC Milan are likely to demand an excessive fee for the Portuguese attacker.

There are few concrete links or leads to go by, so Spurs fans may have something of a surprise in store in the coming days.

Tottenham are keen to add at least two forwards to their squad this summer, and Sancho being available on a free transfer may be appealing following a big spend during the transfer window so far.

There is confidence that Savinho will become a Spurs player in this window, but the club have now put a deadline on the deal, telling Man City they want an agreement in place before August 1st or they will move on to other targets.

Tottenham Must Get Attacking Deals Done

Tottenham knew they had a lot of business to get done in this transfer window, and they started very quickly by getting a number of deals over the line early on.

But the forward department still remains underwhelming, and Roberto De Zerbi has made it clear that he expects more arrivals before the season begins. Savinho has been the leading target, but the club simply cannot afford to sit around and wait to agree a deal when they have so much business to get done.

City won't sell easily as they have no need to, so Tottenham are smart to be looking at alternatives just in case. Sancho would be an odd alternative, considering his lack of top-level performances in recent seasons, but Spurs have him on their list, and it would be a relatively easy deal to get over the line.
