Tottenham Hotspur are considering appointing former Ajax head coach Francesco Farioli as Ange Postecoglou’s successor, journalist Tom Barclay has revealed.

The Lilywhites are believed to have drawn up a four-man shortlist of potential candidates to take over in North London, including the Italian tactician, who was once praised as ‘one of the best young coaches in Europe’.

Tottenham’s former managing director of football, Fabio Paratici, is believed to be particularly keen on Farioli’s arrival ahead of his 'imminent' return to the club.

The 52-year-old Italian executive is expected to be re-hired by Spurs next month once his 18-month ban from football ends.

Tottenham Eyeing Francesco Farioli

As Ange Postecoglou’s potential successor

According to Barclay, Paratici will have an influence on who Tottenham appoint next and is believed to have earmarked Farioli as a potential candidate among others.

The Italian tactician has already confirmed his departure from Ajax after narrowly missing out on the Eredivisie title last weekend and could soon make an imminent return to management.

Farioli is a former disciple of Roberto De Zerbi, having worked with the ex-Brighton manager in the early years of his coaching career, including as a goalkeeping coach at Serie A side Sassuolo.

The 36-year-old is highly regarded for his work on a tight budget at Nice and for returning Ajax to the Champions League this season.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Farioli has won 35 of his 54 games in charge of Ajax this season.

Tottenham could sack Postecoglou even if they win the Europa League final against Manchester United on Wednesday and qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The Lilywhites have endured a dismal domestic campaign and are on course for their worst Premier League finish to date, sitting 17th with one game remaining.

Spurs have won just once in their last 11 top-flight games, a 3-1 win over bottom-placed Southampton last month.

Fabrizio Romano: 'Phenomenal' Manager Paratici Wants at Tottenham Leaves Club - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in appointing Ajax manager Francesco Farioli, and Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that he will leave Ajax with immediate effect.

Spurs could be looking for a new manager in the coming months after a disappointing season under Ange Postecoglou. The north London outfit have a chance to rescue their campaign as they face Manchester United in the Europa League final on Wednesday, but there's no guarantee Postecoglou remains in charge after that.

GIVEMESPORT sources have confirmed that Postecoglou could still be sacked even if he wins the Europa League on Wednesday. Despite their impressive league form, Spurs currently find themselves sitting in 17th position in the Premier League with one game to go.

Tottenham Target Farioli to Leave Ajax

Paratici wants him

One manager potentially in the running to replace the Australian is Farioli, with reports suggesting that Fabio Paratici is keen to bring in the young coach. Now, Romano has reported that Farioli is set to leave Ajax with immediate effect.

Farioli, described as 'phenomenal', saw his Ajax side beaten to the Eredivisie title on the final day by PSV Eindhoven at the weekend. Farioli joined Ajax back in July last year, but he now looks set to depart after just one season in charge.

It's unclear whether he's moving on due to being offered a new role elsewhere, but it's also been confirmed by Ajax that he's decided to leave. Whether Spurs now make a move remains to be seen, but it could be an ideal opportunity for them to find a Postecoglou replacement.

There might be concerns that Farioli was unable to win the league with Ajax this season, but he did take over the Dutch club in a struggling position. Ajax finished fifth last term, 35 points behind PSV, so it's safe to say he's helped steer the club back in the right direction.

Postecoglou remains in charge at Tottenham for now, but there's no guarantee we see him in the hot seat heading into the 2025/2026 campaign.

Tottenham Must Sack Ange After UEL Final and Hire 'Incredible' Manager

Description

When looking at their form in the Premier League and comparing it to their displays on the continent, it has been a contrasting season for Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites will face Manchester United in the Europa League final on Wednesday, with the winner securing a place in next season’s Champions League.

Both clubs have had startlingly similar seasons, in that both are giants of English football that, were it not for the already-relegated bottom three, would be fighting for survival. In Man United’s case, they appointed Ruben Amorim mid-campaign and he is yet to have a pre-season with the club.

Ange Postecoglou, however, has overseen Tottenham’s entire season and as a result, pressure has risen on the Australian. Postecoglou’s side have lost 21 Premier League games of the 37 they have played at the time of writing, a record that would have been unthinkable at the season’s beginning.

Postecoglou’s future at Spurs is entirely dependent on the Europa League final and whether he is able to bring an end to Spurs’ 17-year trophy drought. Even if Postecoglou wins the tournament, however, it might be time for Tottenham to part ways with their manager, regardless of whether it ends in a victory or a loss in Europe.

Spurs Should Go All In For Glasner

Austrian has worked wonders at Palace

Early in 2024, Roy Hodgson’s second stint in charge of Crystal Palace came to an end and in his place, the Eagles appointed Oliver Glasner. The Austrian had won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023, a suggestion as to the quality of manager that Palace were appointing.

Palace ended the 2023/24 season in form under Glasner, who struggled in the opening stages of his first full season in charge, having lost Joachim Andersen and more notably, Michael Olise. Soon enough, Glasner got a tune from his team once more and Palace have improved across the campaign ever since.

In his first full season, Glasner has already etched his name into Palace folklore. The manager guided his side to a 1-0 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final, giving Palace their first-ever major trophy. It also ensured that Crystal Palace would be playing in the Europa League next season, another first for the club. Glasner has been described as "incredible" for his work at Palace so far.

Spurs, in turn, must throw everything they have at Glasner to try and convince him into moving to North London. He has proven that he can handle the level of the Premier League and in just 18 months, has won a trophy, something that Spurs have failed to do for almost two decades now.

Sport Witness have reported that there has already been contact from Spurs to Glasner, who would bring with him proof that he can win silverware, which has to be the ultimate aim for Spurs. Postecoglou could, in the Europa League final, bring an end to the drought. Perhaps Glasner, though, is better suited to give Spurs a continued chance at winning major honours.

Tottenham Deal for 52-Year-Old to Join 'Imminent' - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are set to reappoint former managing director of football Fabio Paratici, with his return to North London now 'imminent', journalist Tom Barclay has reported.

The 52-year-old Italian executive is expected to take up his role next month after serving an 18-month ban for financial irregularities during his time at Juventus and will be tasked with finding a successor to Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian tactician could be sacked by Spurs even if they win the Europa League final on Wednesday, and Paratici is reportedly set to have influence over who the club may appoint next.

Paratici resigned from his role at Tottenham in April 2023 after losing an appeal in Italy against his ban, which was initially set to last 30 months.

He spent two years in North London and reportedly developed a very positive relationship with chairman Daniel Levy, who holds the 52-year-old in high regard for his work at the club.

Paratici is believed to have remained an advisor for Spurs during his time away and was responsible for welcoming a host of current first-team stars during his previous stint.

The likes of Cristian Romero, Pedro Porro, Destiny Udogie and Dejan Kulusevski were signed under the 52-year-old’s watch, as well as former manager Antonio Conte, with whom Paratici had previously worked at Juventus.

Tottenham are now heading for their worst-ever Premier League finish as they sit 17th in the table with just one game remaining.

The Lilywhites have won just once in their last 11 top-flight games, a 3-1 victory over bottom-placed Southampton, and have collected only one point from their last 18 available.

Spurs have never finished outside the Premier League’s top 15 since the competition was formed in 1992, and could still climb to 14th with a victory over Brighton in their final game.

Exclusive: Bournemouth Want to Keep £24m Star Amid Tottenham and Newcastle Links - GiveMeSport
Description

Bournemouth will look to resist any offers for Ilya Zabarnyi in the upcoming summer transfer window, with the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur all showing an interest.

Zabarnyi has enjoyed an impressive start to life in the Premier League, forming a strong partnership with Dean Huijsen in defence for the Cherries. Huijsen has taken a large percentage of the plaudits, and his displays earned him a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid ahead of the summer.

Losing both centre-backs would be a worry for Bournemouth, especially as they look to continue progressing under manager Andoni Iraola. Bournemouth currently find themselves sitting in 11th place in the Premier League table, but they could climb as high as eighth if they win their game in hand.

Bournemouth to Resist Offers for Zabarnyi

Tottenham, Newcastle, Chelsea, and Man City keen

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Bournemouth will be looking to put on a show of resistance when it comes to offers for Ukrainian defender Zabarnyi in the summer transfer window. Chelsea, Tottenham, Man City, and Newcastle are among the clubs who admire the young centre-back, but the Cherries aren't going to sell easily, especially with Huijsen departing.

Sources close to Bournemouth confirm that Huijsen's exit has radically reduced the chance of Zabarnyi heading through the exit door in the coming months. Losing both centre-backs would be a bit of a disaster for the Cherries, and it's now considered almost impossible for Zabarnyi to depart when the summer transfer window opens.

Milos Kerkez has also been linked with a departure, and it's understood that the prospect of him leaving is reasonably high. If the Hungarian left-back is sold in the next few months, that could see three of Bournemouth's starting back four leaving if Zabarnyi, who joined the club for a fee of £24m, is also offloaded.

Bournemouth are going to attempt to resist interest from the likes of Tottenham, Man City, and Newcastle, and it's no surprise. The young centre-back has played a key role under Iraola this season, and the Cherries will be desperate not to lose a large chunk of their star players.

Tottenham are reportedly in talks to sign Lille star Jonathan David, who is set to be a free agent at the end of this season, Get French Football News has revealed.

The Canadian revealed last week that he will depart from the Ligue 1 outfit at the end of the season after a five-year spell. In that time, he has established himself as one of the best centre-forwards in France.

Meanwhile, Spurs are desperate to avoid a repeat of the 2024/25 season which has seen them languishing in 17th place - just above relegation - with just one match of the season to go. They are on the lookout for new forwards, and could see David as a useful market opportunity.

Tottenham Pursuing Free Transfer for David

The attacker has a number of interested suitors

As per GFFN, Tottenham are in the race for David, alongside the likes of Aston Villa and Juventus, while Manchester United are also thought to have eyed a move for the 25-year-old.

Ben Jacobs revealed exclusively in the January transfer window that Spurs were chasing a deal for David, although a mid-season departure remained unlikely to come to fruition. The Lilywhites may well reignite their interest this summer in a free transfer.

Dubbed "one of the highest-rated strikers in the world", David has been an integral part of Lille's first-team since his arrival from Belgian side Gent in 2020. He registered a total of 25 goals and 12 assists in all competitions during the 2024/25 season, ranking as his club's top-scorer by a significant distance.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Jonathan David is Canada's all-time top-scorer with 32 goals in 61 national appearances.

Tottenham signed Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth last summer for a £65 million fee, but the Englishman could benefit from some competition at centre-forward. Richarlison could also be on his way out this summer amid links to the Saudi Pro League, and David could be a viable replacement.

5 Players Who Ruined Their Legacy at Tottenham [Ranked]

Submitted by daniel on

The five players who ruined their legacy at Tottenham have been named & ranked - in order - GiveMeSport
Description

Summary

Five players who ruined their legacy at Tottenham have been ranked.

Sol Campbell was labelled as Judas following his free trnasfer to Arsenal.

Campbell's move was not the only one that upset Spurs fans.

Tottenham is a club that, regardless of what you think of their performances on the pitch and their status off it, has an incredibly passionate fanbase. Having spent much of their history being viewed as the second-biggest club in North London, Spurs fans are very protective of their crest and those who adorn it, through thick and thin, which is why many players grow to have an affinity with the supporters and earn a cult-like status after years of hard work

Football is not a game for loyalty though. While there are rare examples, most players will leave to benefit their own careers and do not care who they hurt in the process. And for these former Spurs players, things they have done have meant that they have tarnished their legacies on the white side of North London, with some even earning legendary status before burning it to the ground.

Pat Jennings was one of the first high-profile player to make the controversial switch from Tottenham to Arsenal, crossing the fierce North London divide in 1977. Despite being a legendary figure at Spurs, manager Keith Burkinshaw believed the veteran goalkeeper was past his prime and allowed him to leave.

Jennings, however, defied expectations. He spent eight successful years at Arsenal, proving he still had plenty to offer at the top level. His crowning moment in red came in 1979, when he helped the Gunners lift the FA Cup in a dramatic final against Manchester United. For many Spurs fans, his departure was painful—not just because he left, but because he thrived with their greatest rivals after being deemed expendable. However, the fact that it wasn't solely his decision to leave the club is why his legacy isn't tarnished quite as much as other people's.

Dimitar Berbatov's departure from Tottenham Hotspur remains one of the most controversial chapters in the club’s modern history. Signed from Bayer Leverkusen for a then-record fee for a Bulgarian player, Berbatov quickly established himself as a striker of rare elegance and composure, even if he admitted years later not to have been thrilled by the prospect of moving to the club in the first place.

During his two seasons in North London, Berbatov blossomed into a top-tier talent, becoming a vital figure in Spurs’ attack. But as interest from Manchester United grew, so did tensions. Berbatov made no secret of his desire to join Sir Alex Ferguson's side, and what followed was a drawn-out and uncomfortable transfer saga. His behaviour in the final weeks—marked by detachment and an apparent loss of motivation—left a sour taste for many at the club. Dropped from the squad as the situation escalated, Berbatov ultimately sealed a £30.75 million move to Old Trafford on the final day of the 2008 summer transfer window.

To this day, Berbatov’s exit is remembered not just for its impact on the pitch, but for the manner in which it unfolded. While some Spurs supporters have long since moved on, others still view his departure as a turning point—when a beloved player openly challenged the club's authority to engineer his own exit.

As a player, Jason Cundy's Tottenham career was hardly remarkable, so it is not for that reason that he gets on the list. Nor is it that he completed a treacherous transfer away from the club. In fact, almost half the time he spent contracted at White Hart Lane, he was on loan. Instead, it is his actions towards the club after his career that have irked fans the most.

Cundy is now one of the most recognisable pundits in British football, and his radio work for talkSPORT, while entertaining, usually involves him irritating fans and acting as a wind-up merchant. And despite the fact that he played for the club, the Chelsea fan is often the first to poke fun at Spurs, usually at Jamie O'Hara's expense, which infuriates fans due to the disrespect from a former player who earned a living without doing much to inspire.

Another example of a player who decided to move on to bigger and better things. Though he is cemented as one of the best midfielders in football history, Luka Modric’s departure from Tottenham Hotspur left a bitter taste for many fans. Signed in 2008 for a then joint-club record fee of £16.5 million, he quickly evolved into a world-class playmaker, drawing attention from Europe’s elite.

As Real Madrid intensified their pursuit, Modric made his intentions clear—refusing to train in an attempt to force a move. His actions, seen by many as disrespectful and unprofessional, fractured his relationship with Spurs supporters. While his talent was undeniable, the manner of his exit overshadowed his achievements in North London. We're sure the countless medals and the Ballon d'Or sitting in his trophy cabinet can help with that.

Before his shocking switch to Arsenal, Sol Campbell was considered one of Tottenham’s finest academy products, making over 300 appearances and winning the 1999 League Cup. Spurs offered him a record-breaking contract to stay, expecting loyalty from a player they had nurtured. But after a disappointing 12th-place finish in 2000/01, Campbell chose to leave in search of Champions League football to boost his England prospects.

Though speculation linked him with a move abroad, his decision to join arch-rivals Arsenal stunned the football world and enraged Spurs fans. Leaving on a free transfer only deepened the betrayal. For many supporters, it wasn’t just a departure—it was a seismic act of disloyalty from a player they once saw as a future club legend.

Tottenham Have Advantage in Race to Sign 'Magic' Premier League Star

Tottenham Have Advantage in Race to Sign 'Magic' Premier League Star - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ahead of Arsenal and Manchester City in the race for Crystal Palace's FA Cup final hero Eberechi Eze.

Eze enjoyed the best day of his career on Saturday (May 17) when his excellent first-half strike secured the cup for the Eagles. It was the latest of many eye-catching displays from the England international this season, and they haven't gone unnoticed.

The Sun reports that Tottenham, Arsenal, and City, against whom he netted the winner, are all eyeing the 26-year-old with two years left on his contract. He's been at Selhurst Park since the summer of 2020, and while Palace have now qualified for the Europa League, he is "determined to play Champions League football".

Tottenham Frontrunners For Eze

The Lilywhites have a "strong advantage"

Tottenham appear to be in the strongest position to sign Eze this summer, although that might rest on how they fare in the Europa League final against Manchester United (May 21). A win secures Champions League football next season but a defeat means no European football altogether.

The Lilywhites, the Gunners, and the Cityzens have all expressed interest in one of the England squad that finished runners up at Euro 2024 last year. GIVEMESPORT sources indicated last month that club officials have privately accepted that Eze and Marc Guehi are likely to move this summer, and their FA Cup heroics only further increase their stock.

Eze is believed to have a £68m release clause in his contract, and the Eagles will have no say if this is triggered. The club's chairman, Steve Parish, was "shocked" at the lack of interest in the player last summer, but that will likely not be the case this time amid "absolute magic" he's produced this term.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Eberechi Eze is on the best goalscoring run of his career with four in four after his winner against Man City.

Spurs are set for a rebuild, and that's likely to come under a new manager even if Ange Postecoglou guides his men to Europa League glory. His attack has been a problem throughout the campaign, and Eze could be viewed as a long-term replacement for James Maddison.

Tottenham Offered Chance to Sign £325,000-a-Week Forward Amid Surprise U-Turn - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been offered the chance to sign Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, according to Santi Aouna of FootMercato.

It has been a disappointing season domestically for Spurs, one that has seen them lose 20 Premier League games at the time of writing. Were it not for the bottom three, who have already been condemned to the drop, Spurs would be in a genuine relegation battle, something which would’ve been unthinkable at the season’s opening.

Such form, along with exits from both domestic cups, has seen pressure mount on manager Ange Postecoglou as the season has progressed. His only saving grace thus far has been the Europa League, in which Spurs have played like a different side compared to their Premier League form.

Spurs are set to play Manchester United in the Europa League final as they hope to end their 17-year trophy drought. Unsurprisingly, however, eyes are already on the upcoming summer transfer window and it appears that the Lilywhites are keen to reinforce their attacking options.

Sane Offered To Spurs

Winger set to depart Bayern Munich

FootMercato’s Santi Aouna has reported that Leroy Sane has been “proposed to many clubs in the United Kingdom,” including Tottenham Hotspur. Though the winger had agreed terms with Bayern on a new contract, there has since been a u-turn, with no extension yet agreed. Given there is such a disparity between what both parties want, a departure is expected. Bayern, in fact, want an answer from Sane's camp about his future "before the end of the week."

Sane, who earns £325,000 per week according to Capology, has been with Bayern for five years at the time of writing, having moved to Bavaria from Manchester City back in 2020. The summer signing of Michael Olise, and the form he would go on to showcase, has only given Sane further competition at Munich, along with the likes of Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry.

In Tottenham, Sane would be moving to a club that are not only in the Premier League, a division he knows well, but one that needs some depth out wide, with it looking unlikely that Spurs sign Timo Werner on a permanent basis.

Spurs may find that Champions League qualification, should they win the Europa League, would offer them a major advantage in the race for the signature of Sane, who has been described as "world-class" by Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann. In Sane, the North London side would be signing a brilliant winger, when fit, within the prime years of his career.

Theory Emerges as Emi Martinez Left 'in Tears' After Aston Villa 2-0 Spurs - GiveMeSport
Description

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was spotted 'in tears' after the final whistle following the Premier League win over Tottenham Hotspur on Friday night.

With Unai Emery's men well in the hunt for Champions League football, the Villans picked up a vital win against Spurs. Goals from Ezri Konsa and Boubacar Kamara in the second half were enough to give the home team all three points.

This was Villa's last home game of the season, and goalkeeper Martinez was spotted crying on the pitch after the final whistle.

Martinez in Tears at Villa Park

'It looked like he was saying his farewell'

Journalist Charlie Haffenden has given his theory behind the tears, taking to social media to write:

"Emiliano Martinez was in tears for several minutes after full time, appearing to try and drink in every moment of the Villa Park atmosphere. To me, it looked like he was saying his farewell."

Journalist John Townley also picked up on the incident, writing: "Emi Martinez appeared particularly emotional after Aston Villa's final home game of the season, spending a few moments taking it all in and wiping his eyes before heading down the tunnel."

Sportsbeat's James Toney added: "A jumping Villa Park goes a little flat as Emi Martinez leaves the pitch in tears. Say. It. Ain't. So."

Martinez Linked With Saudi Move

Joan Garcia Targeted as replacement

According to recent reports, Villa are "ready to sell" Martinez with the Argentine goalkeeper linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League. Villa hold a strong relationship following Jhon Duran's £64m move to Al-Nassr in January, so a deal may well be struck.

Espanyol's Joan Garcia appears to be the club's number one choice to replace Martinez but they face stiff competition from Arsenal. The Spaniard has a £21m release clause in his contract, which the La Liga outfit are reportedly prepared to negotiate.

In light of recent events, it does seem quite likely that the Argentine leaves in the summer.
