Tottenham Hotspur are one of many Premier League clubs to have made an enquiry to sign an exciting Paris Saint-Germain forward, according to journalist Fabrice Hawkins.

Tottenham's transfer focus is on strengthening their attack in the remaining weeks of the summer window, having already transformed Roberto De Zerbi's defence and attack.

De Zerbi confirmed following the club's 2-0 pre-season friendly win against Auckland that he now wants to complete the attacking positions, with another couple of 'important' players wanted on top of the half-a-dozen who have already arrived through the doors at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs currently have the likes of Mathys Tel, Richarlison, Dominic Solanke and Mohammed Kudus to select from in attack, but the Italian boss wants more as he looks to lead the north London outfit up the Premier League next term.

Kudus is nearly back to full fitness having been on the sidelines since January, but it remains to be seen how match fit he will be for the start of the season after such a long absence.

Tottenham signed Randal Kolo Muani on a season-long loan deal from PSG last summer, but it ultimately failed to pay off for either the club or the player, as he ended the season with just one goal and one assist in the Premier League.

Now, Spurs are targeting another forward from the Champions League holders.

According to RMC Sport in France, Tottenham have made contact with the Ligue 1 champions in recent weeks over a deal to bring attacking sensation Ibrahim Mbaye to England.

Spurs aren't the only Premier League club to formalise their interest in the 18-year-old, with Liverpool and Manchester City also keen, along with Bundesliga duo Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.

Mbaye is seen as one of the brightest prospects to emerge from the PSG academy in years, but the club isn't necessarily ruling out a summer exit for the talented teenager.

However, they value Mbaye in excess of €50m, with the 'phenomenon' recently joining the Gestifute agency run by Jorge Mendes, who also represents other PSG players like Vitinha, Joao Neves and Warren Zaire-Emery.

Tottenham Plotting Shock Move for Former Chelsea Star

Tottenham may have added two top midfielders to their ranks in Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes already this summer, but reports in Turkey suggest they are also considering a shock move for former Chelsea star N'Golo Kante.

The Fenerbahce star may be 35 years of age and in the twilight years of his successful career, but his performances were still enough to earn him a spot in the France 2026 World Cup squad.

Kante may not have played a single minute throughout the tournament for Didier Deschamps' men, but his experience was clearly seen as vital behind the scenes.

While we know that De Zerbi does value experienced players in his squad, Kante would very much be a back-up compared to some of the other options he already has to pick from.

Nevertheless, the defensive midfielder has won the World Cup, Champions League and Premier League on two separate occasions, and would bring huge know-how to a Tottenham squad.

Tottenham returned to Hotspur Way to commence pre-season training earlier this month, although several of Roberto De Zerbi's squad members are yet to take part in the Italian's sessions due to their involvement at the World Cup.

After back-to-back 17th-placed finishes in the Premier League, the Lilywhites are desperate to get out of their rut and launch an assault on the European places again next season. De Zerbi and the Spurs hierarchy have therefore decided to go big on transfers, spending a combined £237million on Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, as well as adding free agents Martin Dubravka, Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi to their squad.

The spending isn't expected to stop there, as Tottenham push to add firepower to their attack. Eli Junior Kroupi is a major target, while they continue to be linked to Manchester City outcast Savinho.

De Zerbi will be eager to start working on his system in pre-season as he prepares for the new campaign. However, he'll have to do so without several players for the time being, with eleven members of Spurs' ensemble having participated in the World Cup.

FIFA rules stipulate that players must be given a minimum of three consecutive weeks off between seasons, so several Tottenham stars are still some way off making their returns to De Zerbi's fold.

Who is already in Tottenham pre-season training?

Thankfully for De Zerbi, his squad consists of a host of players who either didn't make the cut for their national teams or who play for countries that didn't qualify for the tournament in North America.

Non-World Cup Spurs players returned for pre-season training on July 10, and this included new goalkeeper signing Dubravka. He joined the likes of Guglielmo Vicario and Antonin Kinsky in between the sticks from day one.

Meanwhile, Tottenham's defensive department would've looked quite sparse when training commenced. The majority of Spurs' backline were in North America, with only Destiny Udogie, Ashley Phillips and young Brazilian full-back Souza there from the start.

Ben Davies would have made the cut, but he's fighting his way back from an ankle injury and isn't expected to be available until August.

Elsewhere, English trio Archie Gray, Conor Gallagher and James Maddison, none of whom were included in Thomas Tuchel's squad, returned from the outset. New signings Fernandes and Tonali will also get to enjoy a full pre-season.

Dejan Kulusevski also returned in some capacity, as did Mohammed Kudus, Richarlison, Dominic Solanke, Mathys Tel, Dane Scarlett, Mikey Moore and Manor Solomon, along with several youngsters.

Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons have also been present at Hotspur Way, as they continue their respective recoveries from ACL injuries

When Will Each World Cup Player Return to Tottenham Training?

Only two of Tottenham's World Cup stars crashed out in the group stage, and both could theoretically have already returned or be set to.

Scotland's tournament was over as early as June 24. That was over three weeks ago now, so Robertson has already joined up with his new teammates in training this week.

Rodrigo Bentancur should have also returned to training, with Uruguay having played their final match on June 27 after losing in the group stages, but Spurs have granted him extra time off.

The same is the case for Pape Matar Sarr, whose World Cup ended on July 1 when Senegal lost in dramatic circumstances to Belgium. Lucas Bergvall was in North America a day less than his Senegalese counterpart and is already be back in the fold. Kevin Danso's tournament also ended in the Round of 32, on July 2 and he too has already returned, with the duo both named in the club's pre-season tour squad out in New Zealand and Australia.

Also on the pre-season tour are Dutch duo Micky van de Ven and new signing van Hecke, joining up with their Spurs teammates this week following the Netherlands' early exit from the tournament.

Tottenham had four players reach the semi-final stage of the World Cup, all of whom may not enjoy a pre-season long enough to see them fit for the start of the real season.

All four of Marcos Senesi, Cristian Romero, Pedro Porro and Djed Spence got to the latter stages of the international competition, and thus, all four were engaged in matches until this weekend.

Giving these World Cup stars the minimum three-week rest, they'd be in line for a return on Monday, August 10 - giving them just under two weeks before the new season gets underway.

Tottenham Hotspur could make a surprise move for a former Chelsea star and it would almost certainly infuriate the Stamford Bridge faithful.

It's not unusual for players to have played for both London rivals during their careers. Gus Poyet, William Gallas, Terry Venables and Scott Parker are four of 13 who have played their football for Spurs and the Blues.

The Lilywhites appear to be open to adding a new name to that list and leave both sets of supporters stunned. Another midfielder could be added to Roberto De Zerbi's squad despite the arrivals of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

Spurs are having a busy summer and building a squad that can challenge for Europe rather than face another relegation battle like last season. While the player's ability is important, so too is his mentality, and this might have been a key reason De Zerbi wanted Andy Robertson.

Another Premier League champion is reportedly on the Lilywhites' radar as Talha Arslan of X Sports reports that they are interested in former Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante. The Frenchman is currently at Fenerbahce in the Turkish Super Lig, but speculation is growing over his future.

Kante has been rolling back the years at the age of 35 with inspired performances that earned him a place in France's World Cup squad. During his time in England, he was a revelation and arguably became one of the greatest defensive midfielders in top-flight history.

The French star won two Premier League titles, first with Leicester City and then with Chelsea. He also won the Champions League with the Blues and made 269 appearances during his time at Stamford Bridge, posting 13 goals and 16 assists.

Why Tottenham Might Want Kante

Spurs' interest is intriguing given they have already strengthened their midfield with Tonali and Fernandes. The pair cost £100 million and £85 million respectively and are set to be starters in De Zerbi's team next season.

One midfielder whose future is in doubt is Rodrigo Bentancur amid reports suggesting the club are willing to entertain offers for the Uruguayan. If he were to make way, it could lead to Kante arriving to give De Zerbi more depth.

The Italian coach might want to add more experience to his squad after the troubles that occurred last season. Kante's best years are behind him but he could prove to be a useful utility man and a hugely popular personality in the dressing room.

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to listen to offers for Uruguayan midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur this summer, according to a top Lilywhites source.

Bentancur endured a below-par 2025/26 season in North London, contributing to Spurs' dire struggles that almost led to a shock relegation to the Championship. This form has prompted Tottenham to not only commence a midfield rebuild, but also to contemplate selling the 29-year-old this summer.

The former Juventus star has been at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for four-and-a-half years now, and while he's shown glimpses of quality, he's never truly shone in a white shirt.

Despite signing a new contract last October, the North London club are now said to be open to sanctioning Bentancur's departure in this transfer window, with his future described as uncertain.

Tottenham Open to Selling Rodrigo Bentancur

Roberto De Zerbi has evidently asked the Tottenham hierarchy to reconstruct his midfield department this summer.

Sandro Tonali was acquired from Newcastle United in a £100 million deal, with the Italian expected to become the focal point of Spurs' midfield. Meanwhile, another £85 million was forked out on 21-year-old Mateus Fernandes, who is likely to form a double pivot with Tonali.

This leaves little room for Bentancur, who could ultimately be a casualty of this rebuild. He signed a contract last autumn that runs until 2029, but this might not prevent him from moving on in the coming weeks.

A credible Spurs source replied to a tweet on X this week by claiming that Tottenham will listen to offers for the player, and that his future isn't certain.

While few concrete links have emerged regarding suitors for Bentancur, his potential departure would make sense for Spurs' squad. The midfield department is currently oversized, and given the Uruguay international is the elder statesman of the group, he's the most natural option to make way.

Where Could Rodrigo Bentancur Go This Summer?

While not setting the world alight at Tottenham, Bentancur, once described by Ange Postecoglu as 'fantastic', still has plenty to offer. He's an astute possession passer, retaining the ball excellently when that's the approach his team are taking, while he's also adept in his defensive work when not asked to cover huge amounts of ground.

This profile would excel in the slower and more conservative Serie A, where teams are less physically dominant and are eager to use pragmatic possession as a defensive tool.

Thankfully for Bentancur, this is potentially where interest could arise. There have been next to no credible reports on a possible destination for the player, but given he spent time in Italy and made his name in the European nation, it wouldn't be a surprise to see teams from Serie A express interest.

The likes of Roma, Napoli and his former club Juventus could be in the mix to sign the Spurs star.

The 2026/27 Premier League season is edging ever closer and Tottenham will be looking to improve on what they did in the 2025/26 campaign.

Spurs finished just one place above the Premier League relegation zone in 17th place - the second successive season they were battling at the bottom of the table - avoiding relegation only on the final day of the campaign.

New head coach Roberto De Zerbi was the hero, coming in at the end of March as Spurs' third different head coach, to guide the Lilywhites to safety with 11 points from their final seven games.

Big changes are taking place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

The revolution in N17 is well under way, with Tottenham having made six new signings and allowed eight players to leave. Among those to have left are a number of young players, who have gone off in search of game time elsewhere, fearing they will not get it at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Luka Vuskovic, Will Lankshear and Alfie Devine are three players in that boat to have departed, with Lucas Bergvall another who could follow them, with reports that he is keen to leave. Nottingham Forest have had a £46million bid turned down, with Newcastle also understood to be interested.

One of those De Zerbi might do well to ensure does not follow suit, however, is Mikey Moore.

Still only 18 years old, the Tottenham youth product enjoyed a profitable loan spell away from the club last season, plying his trade north of the border with Rangers.

While the Glasgow giants may have fallen short in the Scottish Premiership title race, Moore impressed, playing 47 times, scoring seven goals and providing four assists.

He had his own issues, with two different managers at Ibrox last season in Russell Martin first and then Danny Rohl. And Rangers have a new boss for the forthcoming 2026/27 campaign too - Derek McInnes taking over.

Mikey Moore ready for the Premier League now

After a season in the Scottish Premiership, Moore will be looking to flex his muscle and prove he can do it in one of Europe's big leagues.

Having spent big money on bolstering the defence and midfield at Tottenham so far, De Zerbi is looking to add strength in depth to the forward line, with Spurs in talks to sign Savinho from Manchester City. That deal is likely to cost around £65million, but De Zerbi could save that money and spend it elsewhere by giving Moore a chance to shine.

Young players coming through from the academy has been a problem in the last couple of years, with Spurs only able to name a 23-man squad in Europe because they did not have enough 'club-trained' players to fill the UEFA quota.

At 18 Moore would not change that, and with Spurs not in Europe in the coming season that does not matter, but supporters love nothing more than seeing a young academy player rise through the ranks to the big stage.

And people at Spurs, past and present, believe he has what it takes to make it in the Premier League.

Ange Postecoglou was a big fan of Mikey Moore

Prior to leaving the club on loan, previous Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou described Moore as a "special player".

Postecoglou said after throwing him into a Europa League starting XI at the age of 17: "Every time we were on the ball I was willing the boys to pass it to him, because he's got that ability to go past people, which is the hardest thing to do in our game apart from scoring goals. If he's not successful, it doesn't faze him, he'll just go again."

"He's just turned 17, but even physically, he's such a strong young man. He was brilliant, but he's been brilliant every time he's played for us. For us, he's going to be a pretty special player."

James Maddison even compared him to Neymar after a win over AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League final run.

Maddison said: "I thought we had Neymar on the left wing! He is fearless, [he has] that young, fearless mentality. He's a brilliant lad, he has bags of ability. I will hopefully help him with wise words but he has all the ability and well done to him."

Moore may not be an actual new signing, but he would be like a new signing for De Zerbi, having never played under him before. Moore can show the Italian what he can do having been named in Spurs' squad for the pre-season tour of New Zealand and Australia, with games against Auckland, Sydney and Chelsea to come.

"Savinho, top choice, and talks are ongoing with Man City. I sense here finances won't be a problem, and if Man City find a replacement, the door becomes open for Savinho to depart, and that's why Tottenham are prepared to be patient."

Spurs' interest in Savinho extends back to last summer and they tried signing him during the final weeks of the transfer window. Pep Guardiola, who called him 'top class ', opted to keep the player, but a lack of game time has led to speculation over an exit this time around.

Another name on the Lilywhites' radar is Junior Kroupi, but Jacobs revealed several obstacles standing in their way:

"They like Junior Kroupi. Bournemouth want to keep hold of him. Arsenal have looked at Junior Kroupi as well. So let's see how that develops. But I don't think that's a today tomorrow type transfer saga."

Kroupi caught the eye throughout last season at Bournemouth and is one of the Premier League's most exciting forwards. But with Arsenal also admirers of the French youngster it feels a difficult deal for Spurs to do.

Savinho Could Thrive Under De Zerbi

Savinho could be an excellent addition to De Zerbi's squad, possessing pace, agility and creativity. He's not really been given enough opportunities at City, and a move does feel increasingly likely.

At just 22, he can further develop at Spurs and potentially take the left-wing starting berth for years to come. His end product needs some work, and last season he registered just one goal and two assists in 24 league games.

The fee will be important as the North Londoners will want to ensure they don't overpay given his status in City's squad. Interest in Kroupi is understandable following a breakout season but he will likely be extremely expensive and could be one to pursue next year.

Tottenham Hotspur are making progress on sales within their first-team squad after a busy summer of arrivals so far.

Tottenham and Inter in Romero Talks

According to a report by Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari, Inter Milan and Tottenham are in direct talks about a deal for Cristian Romero to return to Serie A.

The Argentine, who has been described as 'unbelievable', is '100% certain' to leave the club this summer after growing disillusioned with life in England as a result of the club's lack of competitiveness at the top level, and Spurs have already replaced him by bringing in Senesi and van Hecke.

There is an openness from all parties to get a deal done during the window, and it's understood that the player's agent and Inter's sporting director are both in Milan to thrash out the terms of a transfer.

Inter have shown a willingness to pay up to £40m for the World Cup winner, and there is total openness from the player's side about making the move to the San Siro.

Spurs are understood to be open to letting him leave for the right price, but it remains unclear if they would be willing to go that low to get him out of the door. Talks are ongoing, but there is a positive feeling between all parties that an agreement can be found soon.

Romero's Time at Spurs is Over

Nobody in north London will dispute how good of a defender Romero is, but there have been several question marks about his discipline and mindset over the last 12 months, and an exit makes the most sense for everyone involved.

Spurs have already replaced him in the window, and De Zerbi has made it clear that he only wants players who are fully committed to the cause. Inter have offered everyone a route to get the deal done, so it looks likely that it will.

£40m seems low in this market, but when you consider all the circumstances around the deal, it may be smarter for Spurs to just cut their losses and take it, rather than risk having to keep hold of someone who doesn't want to be there, and they don't want there either.

Tottenham have travelled to New Zealand for their pre-season tour, and the Italian boss was speaking in his first press conference of the summer when he was asked about the future of the talented midfielder.

De Zerbi didn't shy away from the situation, and admitted that he doesn't want any players at the club who don't want to be there, and that includes Bergvall.

"Listen, I was very clear at the start of my time in Tottenham," he said.

"I said 'Who doesn't want to stay in Tottenham, who is not happy, is not proud to stay here, has to leave'. I want proud players who are happy to stay here and to go on the pitch at Tottenham Stadium with a big motivation. If you think also in the World Cup, the motivation makes the difference. The motivation is to be happy to stay in one team."

"I have not spoken with Lucas [Bergvall] yet, I will in the next days. And we will make the best decision for the club, for Lucas, for me, for every one of us. Without problems, Lucas is a big, big talent. There will be a big competition to play because, at the end, I think we will be two players for each position. If he wants to stay, I will be happy.

"Otherwise, we have to find a new solution with Johan Lange, with Vinai (Venkatesham). It's not my business after the decision to leave (if that happens)."

Tottenham Not Done in Transfer Market

While De Zerbi has made it clear that players will be allowed to leave, he has also made it clear that he expects more arrivals before the deadline on September 1st too.

Spurs are in the market to strengthen their forward line, with Man City star Savinho the top target for the wing, while a new striker is also being considered. And the boss admitted that he wants to bring in 'important players', rather than just options to make up the numbers.

“First of all, I think it’s not finished yet, our transfer market window,” he said. “We have to finish; we have to bring another couple, maybe more, maybe not less, but a couple of players.

"I’m very happy, I’m excited to work with the new players, with the old players.

“The target now is to complete the attacking positions. We want the first target, the first level, because we have already important players. But I think to start a new project we need another couple of important players for sure.”

Roberto De Zerbi seems keen to still put his trust in youth at Tottenham Hotspur despite a busy record-breaking summer transfer window.

The Lilywhites have splashed the cash on three high-profile players, with Sandro Tonali becoming the club's record signing in a £100 million deal. A hefty £85m was spent on Mateus Fernandes, while Jan Paul van Hecke reunited with De Zerbi in a £52m deal.

Those three are set to be a major part of De Zerbi's plans to drive Spurs back into European contention next season. While there's been a big push for a rebuild, the Italian coach is still keen to turn to youth.

De Zerbi Tells Olusesi He's Staying

There has been some speculation over Callum Olusesi's future amid the 19-year-old missing out on a place in De Zerbi's 36-man squad for a pre-season tour in New Zealand. He had been linked with a permanent exit in January and Standard Sport reported that Hoffenheim and PSV Eindhoven were eyeing the English youngster.

The same outlet now claims that De Zerbi has informed Olusesi that he is part of his plans and is expected to stay and challenge for minutes. He made his Premier League and Champions League debut last season, featuring three times at senior level.

Olusesi is missing Spurs' trip to New Zealand as he recovers from an injury, but the versatile midfielder is one of several academy players who are set to compete for first-team minutes. Defender Jun’ai Byfield and Luca Williams-Barnett are also going nowhere, although the latter might not be ready for senior football.

De Zerbi's Lilywhites face Auckland FC, Sydney FC and Chelsea in the coming days during their pre-season tour. While Byfield wasn't included, Williams-Barnett was alongside new signings Tonali, Fernandes and Van Hecke.

It's understood that Brighton's recruitment team have identified Bergvall as a priority target, and they believe that they can help him develop into one of the next big stars of the Premier League, which fits perfectly into their model of transfers.

Tottenham are reluctant to lose Bergvall, however, his desire to leave and the money on offer is likely to prove too difficult to turn down. Brighton are ready to test their resolve with a mega bid, which would hijack the interest of Forest and Newcastle, who have so far been reluctant to match Spurs' valuation.

Tottenham Losing a Top Talent

Bergvall is an exceptional young midfielder, and if you told Spurs fans a few months ago that he'd be on the move this summer they likely would have been devastated.

But after seeing Fernandes and Tonali arrive, plus De Zerbi offloading a host of young talent such as Luka Vuskovic, Tynan Thompson, and Will Lankshear, then it probably isn't much of a surprise to see the ambitious talent looking to move on.

A £60m fee will soften the blow, and will undoubtedly help Spurs to strengthen the squad further in this market, but it won't change the fact that Tottenham will be losing a top talent for the future, and strengthening a Premier League rival who are keen to take their place in the table.
