Tottenham Hotspur have identified Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche as a 'new target' due to Man City's asking price for Savinho, according to The Independent.

Tottenham Hotspur enter the 2025/26 campaign with renewed ambition under new manager Thomas Frank, following a turbulent yet trophy-winning season. Despite finishing 17th in the Premier League last term, their lowest in nearly five decades, Spurs lifted the Europa League, ending a 41-year wait for major European silverware.

Mohammed Kudus joined from West Ham United for a fee of around £55m, while permanent deals were struck for Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso. Joao Palhinha also arrived on loan from Bayern Munich, but Spurs' business doesn't appear to be over just yet, with another attacker being targeted.

Tottenham Eyeing Akliouche as Savinho Alternative

Reporting for The Independent, journalist Miguel Delaney has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur are widening their search for attacking reinforcements, with Monaco’s Akliouche now under serious consideration as a more affordable alternative to Manchester City winger Savinho. Spurs have already submitted two offers for Savinho, but City are standing firm on their £60m valuation, a figure that has tempted Tottenham to explore alternatives.

Akliouche, who has a 'left foot made of gold' according to scout Jacek Kulig, impressed last season with seven goals and scored in Monaco’s opening win over Le Havre. The £47.5m-rated star could be seen as a natural replacement for James Maddison, who recently suffered a serious knee injury, which is likely to keep him on the sidelines for the majority of the season.

Savinho was notably absent from Pep Guardiola’s squad for the Premier League opener against Wolves, raising questions about his role this season. Despite contributing eight assists in 29 league appearances last term, Savinho faces fierce competition for minutes, with City boasting a stacked squad of wide players including Phil Foden, Jeremy Doku, Rayan Cherki, Oscar Bobb and Omar Marmoush.

With City unwilling to budge and Tottenham reluctant to meet the asking price, attention has shifted to Akliouche. The 22-year-old is a player who could naturally replace James Maddison, with the England international suffering a serious knee injury, which could keep him out for the majority of the season. Eze's future has been a topic of discussion over the last few weeks, with multiple clubs showing an interest in securing his signature. The England international had a release clause, Jacobs previously confirmed, but that expired when the 2025/2026 Premier League season got underway.

Tottenham are in the market for a new attacking midfielder, especially after James Maddison suffered a serious knee injury, which is going to keep him out for the majority of the season. Spurs appeared to be pushing for a player in this position even before Maddison's injury. The north London club were close to signing Morgan Gibbs-White, before he signed a new contract with Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham Reach Agreement With Palace for Eze

Reporting on X, Jacobs has confirmed that Tottenham have now reached an agreement in principle with Crystal Palace to sign Eze. The Eagles now need to find a replacement for Spurs to be able to formalise a deal, with Eze waiting and training as normal.

GIVEMESPORT correspondent Fabrizio Romano recently reported that Tottenham were willing to pay in the region of £60m to secure the signature of Eze, with the two parties holding fresh talks on Monday to try and get a deal over the line. Eze has informed Palace of his desire to make the switch to north London, and he now looks set to complete a move to Spurs.

Eze will likely come straight into the starting XI, with Maddison out of the picture, and play in the number 10 role under Thomas Frank. The Palace star can also be utilised out wide, so his versatility could make him a useful option for Spurs. Dejan Kulusevski is also currently on the treatment table for Tottenham, leaving them short of creative players in the middle of the park.

Former West Ham man Kudus provided a creative spark on the right-hand side of attack for Spurs at the weekend, setting up two goals. The Ghanaian international added a new dimension for Tottenham in the final third, but it appears Frank and his recruitment team are looking to bring in more bodies before the end of the summer transfer window.

The North London side continue to push for Eze’s arrival in the coming days, with a fresh round of talks between Daniel Levy and Palace chairman Steve Parish taking place on Monday.

Eze informed Palace of his desire to join Tottenham last week, with Spurs ready to offer a similar package to what they paid West Ham for Mohammed Kudus’ arrival earlier this summer.

The Lilywhites are reportedly open to offering a £55m fixed fee plus £5m in add-ons to get the deal done before the transfer window shuts on September 1.

Spurs Pushing to Sign Eberechi Eze

Romano, writing on X, revealed that Levy and Parish were in direct contact regarding a deal for Eze on Monday, with Spurs ready to propose a £60m offer.

Eze, who joined Palace from Queens Park Rangers in 2020, has been a key player for the Eagles since, making 169 appearances, scoring 40 goals and providing 28 assists.

The ‘unbelievable’ 27-year-old helped Palace lift their first major trophy with FA Cup success at Wembley last season and featured in their Community Shield victory over Liverpool earlier this month.

Eze also started in their Premier League season opener against Chelsea on Sunday, despite initial suggestions he may be left out of the matchday squad amid his ongoing transfer saga.

Tottenham are on the lookout for late attacking reinforcements following former captain Son Heung-min’s move to MLS side Los Angeles FC and James Maddison’s injury.

The England international sustained an ACL setback in a pre-season friendly earlier this month and is expected to miss six to seven months of action.

Spurs were also without first-teamers Destiny Udogie, Yves Bissouma, Radu Dragusin and Dejan Kulusevski for the 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge, with Kulusevski still recovering from a serious knee injury sustained in May.

Savinho has been linked with a move away from City, with some reports suggesting that Spurs have offered a fee in the region of £60m to prise him away from Pep Guardiola's side. The player is keen on a move to Tottenham, but the player is not breaking his relationship with Manchester City. So the player is kind of positioned like, okay, if I can go to Tottenham, I'm happy, because Thomas Frank wants to make him one of the faces of the project, because he could play on a regular basis. So Savinho would like to go to Tottenham."

It's no surprise that some people at Man City internally want Savinho to stay at the club, as he's a player already making an impact for Guardiola's side while also having plenty of potential. If Tottenham can convince City to part ways, it could be an impressive signing for Frank's side, but they might need to break the bank to secure his signature.

Savinho is capable of playing on either wing, but it doesn't solve Frank's problem with replacing Maddison. GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs has confirmed that Tottenham are also in talks to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze, and he could sign for Spurs this week, with an agreement nearly complete for the England international.

Tottenham Hotspur could look to complete a deal for Manchester City's prodigy defender Rico Lewis in the coming weeks, according to reports - with the club having fielded an enquiry to the Premier League title contenders in a bid to bring him down south.

However, City are wary of strengthening direct rivals and with Spurs having qualified for the Champions League plenty in recent years, that could see them become a tougher club to negotiate with rather than someone of Forest's ilk.

City's priority is clear, and that is keeping Lewis at the Etihad Stadium, where he has been since he was eight years old. 59 Premier League appearances by the age of 20, as well as a further 36 in other competitions, have seen him become a dependable member of the team and Pep Guardiola would be pushed to lose the homegrown star.

Spurs could see Lewis as competition for Pedro Porro, who has been linked with moves away in the past, and he can also play in holding midfield, in a similar role to fellow England youngster Archie Gray.

They are in the market for various additions, even if a deal for Lewis' City teammate Savinho doesn't appear to be happening - and with Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze in their sights, a deal may be put on the back burner until the Eagles man is brought to north London.

But Tottenham boss Thomas Frank is interested in Lewis nonetheless, and that could be a deal to look out for in the final weeks of the transfer market, with the club aiming to flex their Champions League muscles ahead of the new campaign.

And, after a solid spell in the Bundesliga, his praise has continued into his ventures abroad - seeing his debut tagged as 'exuding serenity' by French footballing critics, alongside his comparisons to Spurs legend Glenn Hoddle.

French Media React to Eric Dier Performance for Monaco

Dier lined up for Adi Hutter's side as they took on Le Havre on the opening weekend of the calendar, with Dier starting alongside Christian Mawissa in the heart of defence - and it wasn't long before they took the lead, thanks to an own goal.

But it was Dier's contribution on the hour that saw him claim a debut goal, with his header from Lamine Camara's corner beating goalkeeper Mory Diaw all ends up, to mark a solid first outing. Although Rassoul Ndiaye halved the deficit just six minutes later for Le Havre, Maghnes Akliouche wrapped up the game 15 minutes from time with a strike of his own to send Monaco top of the table on goal difference after Gameweek 1, and into the Champions League spaces.

Incidentally, Hoddle also scored on his debut for Monaco against Le Havre in a strange turn of events, but Dier's performance has received a fair share of praise. Esteemed French sporting newspaper, L'Equipe, stated that Dier was hired to bring exerpiecne and knowledge of major matches to a young squad - though he's already exuded a 'great deal of confidence and serenity' by leading a defence that was seldom-troubled by Le Havre.

Elsewhere, outlet 'Monaco Tribune' stated that it was the 'dream' Monaco debut for the English star, with Dier 'hardly putting a foot wrong at the Stade Jean Louis II, where he operated with composure, assuredness and clarity at the heart of their defence.

Although his goal drew the headlines, there were other key aspects - including his 'instrumental' passing, where he failed with just one of his 109 attempted passes, an incredible tally from the Cheltenham-born star. Also praised for his 'impeccable spatial awareness' and 'slick' scanning, that experience is exactly what Hutter will need over the course of the campaign if Monaco are to qualify for the Champions League spots again, alongside mounting a potential transfer push.

Finally, the official Ligue 1 website named it a 'perfect' debut for Dier, who is now featuring in his fourth European league at four different clubs - quite a rare feat for an England international.

Dier scored one of his three England goals in south France, albeit in Marseille, with a free-kick at EURO 2016 - and his form in France could hoist him back into the national team again, especially with Thomas Tuchel now acting as England boss, as he brought Dier to Bayern 18 months ago.

Eric Dier Bears Major Glenn Hoddle Resemblances

Dier, born in Cheltenham, moved to Portugal as a seven-year-old, coming through the ranks at Sporting as a youth player. Featuring 31 times for the capital outfit, he largely impressed on the Iberian Peninsula before moving to Tottenham in 2014, aged just 20.

He spent ten years in north London, generally being a backup centre-back for large spells of his north London stint, as well as a defensive midfielder in their golden era under Mauricio Pochettino - though, largely speaking, he wasn't rated overly-highly in England.

Even without the major accolade, that could be a huge recognition on Dier's part and quite the comparison, given the two differing viewpoints that Tottenham fans had over their separate careers in north London.

Savinho, 21, joined the club last season from French feeder club Troyes in a deal worth around £30million after excelling on loan at La Liga outfit Girona - another member of the City Football Group - in the 2023/24 campaign. Although he only scored one goal in 29 Premier League games, the youngster has a lot of talent out wide with his pace, dribbling and creativity, and that looked to have tempted Tottenham into making a move for his signature.

However, the report by Guillem Balague on X (formerly Twitter) states that City have decided to keep Savinho ahead of the upcoming campaign, despite interest from Tottenham, in what could be a huge blow for new boss Thomas Frank.

As a result, that has also 'killed' any possibility of Rodrygo moving from the Spanish capital to the Etihad Stadium. City did not make an official bid for the Brazilian star, as any move was dependent on £60million-rated Savinho leaving for north London - and so Pep Guardiola will keep the Brazilian who is already in his squad, as opposed to moving for the Los Blancos star.

Tottenham were also thought to be in the race for Rodrygo this summer, who has seen his minutes decline at the Santiago Bernabeu in recent months. Former boss Carlo Ancelotti seemingly preferred Arda Guler on the right-flank in the final few months of his time in the Spanish capital, but any deal hasn't progressed for Rodrygo on that front.

If the duo had joined, it would have transformed Tottenham into a strong creative outfit heading into the Champions League campaign, though Eze looks to be the likeliest deal for now, even with just two weeks remaining in the transfer market.

Tottenham are targeting a shock summer move for Brentford captain Nathan Collins, MailOnline journalist Mike Keegan has revealed.

The North London side have reportedly identified the 24-year-old centre-back as a potential reinforcement to their defensive options and are looking to reunite new manager Thomas Frank with the Bees’ skipper.

Manchester United and Liverpool are also rumoured to hold interest in Collins, although a deal in this transfer window remains difficult, as Brentford are highly reluctant to sell.

The Bees only handed the captain’s armband to Collins earlier this month and have no intention of parting ways amid their summer exodus, with Bryan Mbeumo, Christian Norgaard and Mark Flekken all departing.

Brentford are also expected to part ways with Yoane Wissa ahead of the deadline, with Newcastle now pushing to secure the 28-year-old Congolese international.

Tottenham Keen on Signing Nathan Collins

According to Keegan, Tottenham are on the lookout for late defensive reinforcements and Frank would be particularly keen on a reunion with Collins, whom he signed for Brentford from Wolves in 2023.

The 24-year-old Irish international demonstrated exceptional reliability last season, as he was the only outfield player to play every single minute of the Premier League campaign for his respective club, featuring in all of Brentford’s 38 games.

He has now been earmarked to play a key role for new head coach Keith Andrews, who saw former Brentford captain Norgaard depart to Arsenal for £15m earlier this summer.
