Description

Mohammed Kudus marked a key milestone in his Tottenham career with a decisive strike against Leeds United, and it might just be the spark that ignites his form for the rest of the campaign.

Mohammed Kudus opened his Tottenham account with a well-taken goal against Leeds United on Saturday, a composed finish that proved to be the match-winner.

The Ghana international has already shown why he was such a clever addition to this Tottenham side, having impressed in several cameos this season where his flair, dribbling, and tenacity have all stood out.

Kudus will now be hoping that with his first goal out of the way, more of a similar fashion will follow as he continues to settle into life under Thomas Frank at Tottenham Hotspur.

Mohammed Kudus reacts to his first Tottenham goal

Speaking to Tottenham’s official channels after the match, Mohammed Kudus took a moment to reflect on his goal and how it could pave the way for more in the coming weeks.

“It feels really good to score,” he said. “It is something I have been working on for the past months. It feels really good to score my first goal. It has opened doors for more to come.”

Mohammed Kudus was then asked about how he reacted quickest to Gudmundsson’s touch before slotting home for Tottenham. “Yes, sometimes it is not just about winning the first pass, it is the reaction to the second ball.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“When I went inside, I thought the short corner shot to the near post is something I have been practising. I am glad that it went in.

“Today’s game was less about tactics, it was about determination and who wanted it more. They were running, they were fighting for every ball and we knew that we needed to match that intensity. That is what the game was about. I think everyone stepped up for us to get the win.”

Kudus ends run of disappointing draws for Spurs

Mohammed Kudus’ match-winning strike ensured that Tottenham ended their run of consecutive league draws, having been held to just one point from fixtures against Wolves and Brighton.

The goal also brought an end to Spurs’ unwanted record of not winning any match directly after an international break since 2023, while keeping the Lilywhites firmly inside the Premier League’s top four.

Thomas Frank will be particularly pleased with his summer recruit, who made the move to Tottenham to work under the Dane and has already started to justify the faith placed in him.

Description

Luca Williams-Barnett and another Tottenham academy star have caught the eye in the Premier League 2 this month, as the club’s youth setup continues to show why the future looks increasingly bright under Thomas Frank.

Luca Williams-Barnett is one Tottenham Hotspur academy star who has been making a name for himself in the early stages of this season, with the youngster reaching several impressive milestones.

Williams-Barnett only just made his Tottenham first-team debut, coming off the bench in the North London club’s Carabao Cup encounter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Doncaster Rovers.

The teenager’s standout displays at the youth level and his potential to be a top player for Tottenham in the future also saw Spurs hand Williams-Barnett his first professional contract.

Tottenham duo Luca Williams-Barnett and Rio Kyerematen nominated for Premier League 2 award

While he did not grab a goal in his debut for Tottenham, Williams-Barnett has been steadily making waves at Under-21 level in the Premier League 2.

The youngster, alongside Rio Kyerematen, has now been nominated for the Player of the Month award in the academy division.

The midfield pair stood out all through September, driving Wayne Burnett’s side to an excellent run that has kept them third in the Premier League 2 table, with five wins from their opening six matches.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Rio Kyerematen showed his versatility by stepping up as a false nine and netting two well-taken goals, while Luca Williams-Barnett delivered a statement performance with his first Under-21 hat-trick in a thrilling 6-3 win over Leicester City on 19 September, also chipping in with an assist on the night.

Both players have now been recognised for their form, making the eight-man shortlist for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award, alongside Aaron Loupalo-Bi and Farhaan Ali-Wahid of Fulham, Joe Belmont of Brighton & Hove Albion, Andre Harriman-Annous of Arsenal, Tudor Mendel-Idowu of Ipswich Town and Romeo Akachukwu of Southampton.

Tottenham academy showing bright future under Thomas Frank

The future does indeed look rather bright for Tottenham, with several academy stars rising through the ranks. Williams-Barnett is one for the future, but so is Jun’ai Byfield, a centre-half who is also impressing down in the academy division.

Spurs also have exciting young prospects out on loan, with Vuskovic, Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear, just to name a few.

However, the main focus for the North London club is ensuring that these players reach their full potential and eventually become first-team regulars in the future.

Tottenham Hotspur head into the international break sitting in the top four of the Premier League table, following a hard-fought 2-1 win over Leeds United that capped off a solid run of form under Thomas Frank.

Goals from Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus ensured Tottenham Hotspur picked up all three points, ending a frustrating streak of failing to win their final fixture before international breaks, a run that stretched back to 2023.

The victory also brought an end to their sequence of back-to-back draws in the league, giving Frank’s men a much-needed lift heading into the pause in domestic action.

It was another display that highlighted the resilience and attacking balance Tottenham have started to develop this season, with several key performers stepping up at crucial moments.

Mohammed Kudus named in WhoScored team of the week

WhoScored has now revealed their Premier League team of the week for matchweek seven, and two Tottenham Hotspur players have earned their place in the line-up.

Mohammed Kudus was included after delivering a brilliant all-round performance, earning a rating of 8.40, the second-highest of any player in the gameweek, with Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle recording 8.46.

Kudus not only scored but also provided the assist for Mathys Tel’s opening goal, before later grabbing the winner himself to seal all three points for Tottenham.

Up front, WhoScored included Kudus’ teammate Mathys Tel, who also got himself on the scoresheet, giving Tottenham the early advantage in the first half.

It was a well-taken finish, albeit slightly deflected, but that mattered little to Tel, who finally opened his account for the season.

Both players put in impressive performances for Spurs, with Tel coming close to adding another after his effort struck the upright later on, which would have capped off a brace on the afternoon.

Peter Crouch names four reasons he really likes Mohammed Kudus at Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

Peter Crouch believes that players across the Premier League will be having sleepless nights before going up against Tottenham’s Mohammed Kudus.

While Tottenham Hotspur have been exceptional defensively this season, having conceded just five goals in their seven league games so far, the Lilywhites have perhaps not been as fluent as Thomas Frank would have wanted offensively so far.

However, one Spurs attacker has had a brilliant start to the season. Mohammed Kudus tops the Premier League charts for four key metrics, with the Ghanaian proving to be an inspired signing for the Lilywhites.

The 25-year-old got his first goal for Spurs in the win over Leeds on Sunday to go with his five assists so far this season, and he will be hoping that it is the first strike of many for the club.

Peter Crouch makes interesting observation about Mohammed Kudus at Tottenham

While it comes as no surprise that the former West Ham man is topping the charts for take-ons and assists, he is also at the top of the pile for the number of duals one.

Crouch praised Kudus’ strength and his tendency to never lose possession, and admitted that the Tottenham winger will be a nightmare to deal with for any full-back.

The former Spurs striker said about the winger to TNT Sports (04/10/25): “We were saying about him before he scored, he’s one of those players you just hate to play against if you were a full-back.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“He never seems to lose the ball, he’s so strong, he can go past people, he’s so dangerous, incredibly strong, and he was ultimately the main man.”

Kudus reveals the overriding reason behind his decision to join Spurs

To say that Tottenham fans are over the moon with Kudus would be a severe understatement.

Not only has he taken his game to new heights at N17, but the fact that he came from the club’s London rivals, West Ham, makes his success even sweeter for the Lilywhites faithful.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated last week, Kudus admitted that Frank’s appointment was the main reason behind his move to Tottenham.

The Spurs winger pointed to examples at Brentford of Frank transforming several attackers, and he hopes to do the same at N17.

Wayne Rooney says one ‘breath of fresh air’ is ready to explode at Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

Wayne Rooney has been extremely impressed by one Tottenham star this season and believes that the numbers tell a clear story that the player is on the verge of a breakout season.

There were many big positives for Thomas Frank to take from the win over Leeds, one of those being that there were excellent performances from back to front from his side.

However, the man who has been Tottenham Hotspur’s most consistent attacker this season was once again head and shoulders above the rest.

Mohammed Kudus set up Spurs’ opener via a through ball to Mathys Tel before getting on the scoresheet himself in the second period for the first time this season.

Wayne Rooney makes confident Mohammed Kudus claim for Tottenham

Rooney pointed out that even before his goal at Elland Road, the former West Ham man’s numbers suggested that he has been one of the best players on show in the Premier League this season.

Now that Kudus has scored his first goal, the Man United legend suggested that he could hit a new level over the coming weeks and months.

Rooney told BBC MOTD (04/10/25) about the 25-year-old winger: “I think he’s been a breath of fresh air, you look at the stats from the game, he’s first in everything, duels won, successful dribbles, shots, touches in the opposition box, sprints, and he’s had a real impact for Tottenham this season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“He’s got four assists this season, joint first in the Premier League; he’s by far had the most successful dribbles in the league. So, all that was missing was the goal. I think that goal today will push him on that next step. He’s been a real top signing.”

The numbers show why Kudus is not your typical winger

Kudus leads the Premier League in four key metrics, including some that were mentioned by Wayne Rooney. Interestingly, though, one of those four is a metric which you would expect a winger to be topping: the number of duals one.

The Ghana international is not just elite at bally carrying and in one-v-one situations, but he is almost impossible to dispossess, while his strength and pace allow him to make something of any long ball played in his general direction.

Tottenham supporters are growing increasingly frustrated with one experienced star after another mistake, with many now calling for a change.

Tottenham Hotspur secured a much-needed victory against Leeds United in their last Premier League outing, but they failed to keep a clean sheet.

Guglielmo Vicario was at fault for Leeds’ first goal after parrying Brenden Aaronson’s strike into the path of Noah Okafor, who slotted in from close range.

The Italian, however, sought to redeem himself with a couple of top saves in the second half, helping Tottenham secure all three points.

Tottenham fans react to Guglielmo Vicario’s latest mistake

Vicario is a good shot-stopper but has the odd mistake in him, and Tottenham fans appear to have been left frustrated with his inconsistencies.

Taking to social media, many Spurs fans did not hold back in their assessment of Vicario’s first and second-half display, where he looked solid after the restart but was culpable for the first-half error that led to a goal.

One fan said: “Tbh some of the saves Vicario has to make are because he gave the ball away from his terrible kicking.” Another added: “That first save is top quality, but again on the second one he intentionally pushes it directly into danger instead of out for a corner. He also struggles to read the flight of the ball to get good contact. Just watch good goalkeepers and you will see the issues with Vic.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

One more added: “He palms absolutely everything back out again. His clearance saves should be to the right or left to narrow the angle for any potential rebound. The ball going straight back out again merely gives the opposition a second chance 🤷.”

Another fan commented: “First one should have easily been in his hands if he was on his toes. Second one should have been collected with an open hand. If not, he should have palmed, not punched. He got lucky twice.”

Spurs fans urge Thomas Frank to give Antonin Kinsky a chance

Spurs do have a backup in 22-year-old Antonin Kinsky, but he has featured only once all season, in the Carabao Cup, where he kept a clean sheet against Doncaster Rovers.

Tottenham fans are now calling for him to replace Vicario in goal. Still commenting on social media, one said: “Good saves but he was at fault for the goal. He has made quite a few errors over the last couple of weeks. I think Kinsky should be our number one. I think he offers more with his passing range.”

Another added: “I think it is unlikely, but it is a big month for Vicario. I do not think he is bad; he is a great shot-stopper, but he does not have a great presence and his distribution is woeful. I would like to see Kinsky play more though; he has got the potential to be world class.”

While another fan said: “Yes, we need to see what he can offer.”

Brooklyn Earick reveals official Tottenham takeover bid decision after £4.5 billion rumours - Spurs Web
Description

After having his expression of interest in buying Tottenham rejected, Brooklyn Earick has now announced whether he and his consortium will make an official offer for the North London club.

Two parties that showed interest in buying a stake in Tottenham Hotspur have already ruled themselves out of the race in the past month.

The PCP group had already confirmed a few weeks ago that they would not be launching an offer for Spurs after their approach was turned down by the Lewis family last month.

Firehawk Holdings also confirmed a few days ago that they do not intend to bid for Spurs after making an initial approach at the same time as PCP.

Brooklyn Earick reveals his Tottenham plans

It emerged last week that a consortium headed by Brooklyn Earick was ready to spend a world-record fee to buy Tottenham.

Tottenham unequivocally rejected an informal expression of interest from Earick’s consortium and have maintained that the club is not for sale.

As per the UK Takeover Code, Earick’s consortium had to announce whether they intend to make an offer for Spurs by October 24, and The Telegraph’s Matt Law has now revealed that an announcement has indeed arrived.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The journalist relayed information shared with the London Stock Exchange, which announced that the American consortium will not be launching a bid for Tottenham.

The statement from LSE reads: “Further to the announcement made by the Board of Tottenham Hotspur Limited on 26 September 2025 regarding an informal expression of interest in relation to a proposal to acquire the total issued, and to be issued, share capital of the company, Mr Brooklyn Earick confirms that he does not intend to make a firm offer for the company.”

Tottenham’s board have responded to the recent announcements by Firehawk and Earick, reiterating that the club is not for sale.

Their statement reads (via Matt Law): “The board of directors of Tottenham Hotspur notes the recent announcements from the Firehawk and Mr Earick’s consortiums that they do not intend to make an offer for the club.

“The board thanks them for the constructive approach taken in the discussions with the club’s and the Lewis family’s representatives, and respecting the clear position of the Lewis family that the club is not for sale. Following the announcements made by the consortiums, the club is no longer in an offer period under the City Code on Takeovers and Mergers.”

Simon Jordan makes interesting Spurs takeover claim

While discussing the growing interest in buying Tottenham, former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan made a very interesting observation last week about telling the parties who are genuinely interested apart from pretenders.

He opined that those who signal their interest publicly, like Earick did, rather than having behind-closed-door negotiations, are seldom genuinely interested in buying the club.

However, Jordan rejected the idea that the Spurs are not for sale, insisting that every club will be sold as long as the owner’s valuation is met.

FA launch official investigation into controversial incident with Tottenham player

FA launch official investigation into controversial incident with Tottenham player - Spurs Web
Description

The Football Association are investigating what happened immediately after Mohammed Kudus’ goal for Tottenham against Leeds United on Saturday.

The win at Elland Road was a huge result for Spurs after back-to-back draws in the Premier League against Brighton and Wolves.

The result took Tottenham back into third place in the Premier League table and ensured that, after nearly two years, the Lilywhites went into an international break on the back of a win.

While it was all celebrations at the full-time whistle for the Spurs players, the clash was marred by some unfortunate crowd incidents.

FA investigating Leeds fans after Tottenham incident

According to The Mirror, the FA have now launched a probe into the conduct of the home fans at Elland Road after objects were thrown at visiting Spurs players.

The first incident saw a vape thrown at Pedro Porro as he was about to take a corner. Porro made light of the incident by pretending to smoke the wape, but the next incident was no laughing matter.

Mohammed Kudus netted what proved to be the match-winner on 57 minutes, which was the Ghanaian’s first goal for the club, and he pulled out his trademark celebration by sitting on a steward’s stool.

MORE SPURS STORIES

While the Tottenham winger was seated, a bottle appeared to be thrown in his direction by the home fans, which only narrowly missed the 25-year-old.

None of the Spurs players reacted to the projectile being thrown, but the FA have now commenced their investigation into the incident, which could lead to Leeds being hit with a significant fine.

Tottenham showed excellent game management at Elland Road

While Frank is yet to get everything right at Spurs, what is already clear is that the players have full faith in the system and know exactly what to do to manage games.

There is no sense of panic when defending slender leads, with there seemingly being a quiet sense of confidence in the Tottenham players that they can shut shop if they want to.

The Spurs stars are getting carried away by emotions during the ebbs and flows of the game, which was also evidenced by the Spurs players not reacting to having objects thrown at them.

Watch Tottenham’s Tyrese Hall make it four goals in four games for Notts County - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham youngster Tyrese Hall is on a great run of form at the moment, and the midfielder made decisive contributions once again for Notts County as they overcame Oldham Athletic on Saturday.

The 20-year-old Spurs midfielder is thought of very highly at Hotspur Way, and former Tottenham academy coach Jermain Defoe has even expressed his surprise that Hall has not made his Tottenham debut yet.

Given that Hall reportedly attracted interest from Championship clubs in the summer, it came as a bit of a surprise when Spurs decided to loan the youngster to Notts County in League Two.

As some would have expected, the Spurs academy graduate is proving to be too good for the fourth tier of English football.

Watch Tottenham’s Tyrese Hall continue his fine goalscoring form

Two weeks ago, Hall netted an impressive brace against Crawley Town, followed by a goal in the League Cup against Barnsley, and the Spurs man has continued his impressive form in front of goal.

He got Notts County’s second goal on 29 minutes in their 3-1 win at home against Oldham, with the midfielder seizing on a loose ball just inside the box and curling home impressively.

Hall then turned provider in the second half, playing striker Alassana Jatta through on goal on 49 minutes to put the game beyond the away side.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Watch Hall’s goal and assist below:

Spurs may be considering repeating Alfie Devine playbook with Hall

Not many at Tottenham would be surprised that Tyrese Hall seems to be thriving in League Two, and the club’s decision makers are now faced with a decision on what to do in January.

Two years ago, Spurs recalled Alfie Devine from his loan spell in League One with Port Vale and sent him to Plymouth Argyle in the Championship in January, in light of the midfielder proving too good for League One.

If there is an option to prematurely end Hall’s spell at Notts County, the Lilywhites would be seriously considering handing him a tougher challenge for the second half of the season.

Supercomputer predicts Tottenham’s Premier League finish after win over Leeds - Spurs Web
Description

Following Tottenham’s win at Elland Road, we take another look at the predicted final Premier League standings of Opta’s Supercomputer.

This season has been extremely unpredictable so far, and as one would expect, pundits and experts have been changing their tune about various sides after almost every game.

The predictions of Opta’s Supercomputer have been no different, with the algorithm predicting a 14th-place finish for Thomas Frank’s men before the start of the season.

Spurs have considerably moved up the predicted Premier League table in light of their impressive start to the season, with Opta backing Tottenham to finish eighth following their draw against Wolves at home.

Tottenham remain in eighth place in Opta’s predicted table

According to Opta’s latest calculations, there has been no change in Tottenham’s expected finishing position following their 2-1 win at Leeds, with the supercomputer still backing the Lilywhites to finish eighth.

However, the algorithm has revised Tottenham Hotspur’s expected points tally from 55.49 to 57.04 following the latest result.

According to the supercomputer, Spurs only have a 17.18 per cent chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Why the win over Leeds was huge for Spurs’ season

Ahead of their trip to Elland Road, Tottenham had only managed to win one of their last four matches: their 3-0 win in the Carabao Cup against Doncaster Rovers.

Amidst Spurs’ mini form slump, the critics of Thomas Frank’s approach were growing louder, with some concerned about the side’s inability to create chances with regularity.

Spurs thus desperately needed the three points against Leeds to keep the confidence high and to carry on the momentum, and the players thankfully put an end to the club’s poor record leading into international breaks.
