Bayern Munich braced for Harry Kane exit, Tottenham still hold a purchase clause - Spurs Web
Description

Bayern Munich may be quietly preparing for life without Harry Kane, as fresh claims suggest the Tottenham legend could look to leave earlier than expected despite his contract running until 2027.

Harry Kane has spent three seasons away from Tottenham Hotspur at Bayern Munich since his £100million sale in 2023.

The England captain is now closing in on 100 goals in a Bayern Munich shirt with 91 already scored, continuing to underline his reputation as one of the most clinical finishers in world football.

Yet there is a lingering sense that Kane still has unfinished business in England, particularly as he edged closer to Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League scoring record, but to surpass the Newcastle legend, a return to English football would be unavoidable.

Journalist reveals Bayern Munich stance on Kane’s future

Speaking to talkSport, journalist Raphael Honigstein has now shared his thoughts on Kane’s long-term future at Bayern, suggesting that the German club are already bracing itself for the possibility of a departure.

The former Tottenham striker remains under contract with Bayern Munich until 2027. However, clauses within his deal could pave the way for an earlier exit on a reduced fee should he decide that his time in Germany has run its course.

Tottenham also hold a first option clause for Kane, and while it is uncertain whether they would ever activate it, the speculation continues to grow

MORE SPURS STORIES

Honigstein said: “People in Germany do not expect Harry Kane to see out his career at Bayern necessarily. There was always a chance, and I think Bayern are braced for the possibility that he will leave perhaps slightly earlier than his contract.

“His contract runs until 2027, so one way or the other I think both he and the club need to take a view on this fairly soon, and the fact that they were pushing for somebody who can be both a backup and understudy for Kane tells its own story.”

He continued: “They looked at Sesko, they looked at Woltemade, and they ended up with Jackson on an obligation which is kind of a soft buy.

“That suggests Bayern are aware of the possibility that Kane might go in a year or two, so they need to plan for the future.

“But at the same time, he is so good that anyone who comes in, and I would put Jackson firmly in that bracket, would have to play around Kane rather than really compete.

“There is absolutely no chance that Jackson will displace Kane, he would only play alongside him, ahead of him, or step in if Kane misses a game or two. He is very much there to be the backup and maybe the eventual successor, but we are still some way off that.”

Tottenham still searching for Harry Kane replacement

Tottenham have not truly replaced Harry Kane since his exit, with new arrival Dominic Solanke yet to match the impact or numbers of the England international.

While a return to Tottenham cannot be ruled out in the future, it is unlikely to be a straightforward pursuit for the Lilywhites.

Manchester United are among the clubs that have long been linked with Kane, and Spurs would be hoping that if he ever does cut ties with Bayern Munich and return to England, it would be to the club where his career first began.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have already had a difficult decision to make in the Champions League by leaving a summer signing out. We now take a look at the Premier League rules to see if Thomas Frank’s men face similar issues with their squad domestically.

The Tottenham head coach was left in a very difficult position in naming his squad for the league phase of the Champions League due to the club’s shortage of homegrown and club-trained players.

Much to the surprise of many Tottenham fans, Mathys Tel has been left out of the Champions League squad and will play no part in the competition until January.

The others to be left out are Yves Bissouma, Kota Takai and the injured trio, Dejan Kulusevski, Radu Dragusin and James Maddison.

How is Tottenham’s Premier League squad shaping up?

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that, thankfully, Frank faces no such hard decisions when it comes to the Premier League.

With rules being different domestically than in Europe, Spurs have just 16 non-homegrown players in their squad, with the competition allowing the club to name 17.

Tottenham are helped by the fact that the club’s Under-21 players do not need to be included in the 25-man squad, which means that Tel and Kota Takai do not need to be registered in the main squad.

Description

Mikey Moore’s first start in the Scottish Premiership came in the biggest game in Rangers’ calendar, but the Tottenham teenager certainly held his own.

Moore joined Rangers on a season-long loan deal at the start of last month, with no obligation or option to buy.

Rangers boss Russel Martin has already raved about Moore, but the former Southampton head coach had been reluctant to hand starts to the 18-year-old in the first few weeks of the season.

The Spurs academy graduate finally got his first start for his new club last week, and it could not have come on a bigger stage.

Mikey Moore praised for showing in the Old Firm Derby

The teenager started on the left of a front three for Rangers as they hosted fierce rivals Celtic at the Ibrox.

Neither side could break the deadlock, with the game ending in a 0-0 draw. Moore got 72 minutes under his belt and picked up a yellow card just after the hour mark for a foul.

When the Tottenham Hotspur youngster might not have had too much joy in the final third, he was praised for the courage he showed in possession.

The Scotsman handed Moore a rating of 7 out of 10 and wrote about him: “A livewire. Didn’t look overawed despite his young years. Always wanted the ball and was brave with it, though it didn’t often come off for him.”

Last week, we covered that Will Lankshear netted his second goal for Oxford City in their 2-2 draw against Coventry City.

The 20-year-old was first to pounce on the loose ball inside the box after the free kick was parried away by the goalkeeper, showcasing his goalscoring instincts.

Description

The responsibilities of Tottenham’s new CEO, Vinai Venkatesham, have increased after Daniel Levy’s exit, and a new report has now shed light on how fundamental the former Spurs chairman was in appointing Venkatesham in the first place.

Out of the blue, Spurs announced on Thursday that Levy had stepped down from his role as executive chairman of Tottenham, a position which he has held for nearly two and a half decades.

According to reports, Levy was asked to resign rather than stepping down of his own accord, with the decision having been in the pipeline for many months.

In fact, some sources claim that the changes at the boardroom level, including the hiring of Venkatesham, were done with Levy’s exit in mind by the Lewis family.

Daniel Levy persuaded Vinai Venkatesham to join Tottenham

According to The Telegraph, Venkatesham originally turned down the offer to join as Tottenham’s CEO when he was first approached.

The 44-year-old allegedly felt that he had done all he had wished to in football during his time at the helm of Arsenal.

However, Levy did not take no as an answer and persuaded Venkatesham that a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would be the right one for him.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It would thus be fair to assume that the new Spurs CEO was shocked when the man who brought him to the club was unceremoniously sacked just a few months after his appointment.

Many Premier League clubs were not willing to deal with Levy

According to some sources, another reason for the 63-year-old’s sacking is that many Premier League clubs had grown tired of negotiating with Levy by the end of the summer.

The former Spurs chairman’s desire to win every negotiation and the exhaustive nature of the talks with him are thought to have rubbed many clubs the wrong way.

Description

A consortium represented by Amanda Staveley will continue to monitor events at Tottenham Hotspur and is not ruling out making another approach to buy the club from ENIC next year.

On Saturday, it emerged that two different consortia began talks with Tottenham regarding a takeover of the club.

The report revealed that one of them was PCP International Finance Limited, headed by former Newcastle United chief Amanda Staveley.

This was later confirmed by the North London club, with Spurs stating on Sunday that they rejected two approaches to buy a stake in the club, one from PCP and another from Firehawk Holdings Limited, led by Dr Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng.

Amanda Staveley’s consortium responds after seeing approach rejected by Tottenham

According to The Times, PCP has now said that it does not intend to make an offer for Spurs but “reserves the right under the Takeover Code to re-enter negotiations if another party makes a formal offer — or if it is invited to renew talks by the club.”

The consortium represented by Staveley will continue to monitor the events at Spurs before deciding whether to make another approach next year.

The report explains that under the Takeover Code, PCP cannot make another offer for Spurs for the next six months.

However, ENIC could invite them back to the negotiating table before that, or the six-month window could be set aside if someone else bids for Spurs.

Firehawk Holdings can make an offer soon

Meanwhile, The Times explain that Firehawk Holdings can still make a formal bid for a stake in Tottenham Hotspur within the next 28 days

The company has a social media platform, a financial services arm and a combat sports section.

Former Tottenham coach reveals how Daniel Levy sacked him the night before a game at the team hotel - Spurs Web
Description

One former Tottenham coach warns Spurs fans about the void Daniel Levy will leave, even after the chairman sacked him the night before a game.

Daniel Levy’s time at Tottenham Hotspur officially came to an end on Thursday, September 4, after it was confirmed that he had departed the club.

His departure marked the conclusion of an era that spanned more than two decades, one defined by both progress and polarising decisions.

The club have since moved quickly to restructure at board level, appointing Peter Charrington as the new non-executive chairman, while Vinai Venkatesham has stepped into the role of CEO.

Levy’s time at the helm was turbulent at times, particularly in terms of managerial appointments. No fewer than 15 different managers were dismissed during his tenure, ranging from Juande Ramos and Andre Villas-Boas to Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

Gus Poyet recalls his ruthless sacking at Tottenham

Former Tottenham assistant coach Gus Poyet has shed light on the manner in which Daniel Levy dealt with staff, revealing how he and Juande Ramos were abruptly dismissed the night before a Premier League match.

Speaking exclusively to Oddspedia as relayed by the Sun, Poyet explained how the situation unfolded. He described his relationship with Levy as professional and respectful, stressing that there had been honesty throughout his time at the club, yet he admitted the way it ended left him stunned.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Poyet recalled: “My relationship with Levy was professional, very respectful. We did not have any issues. From day one to the last, he was very honest with me. It was a little bit strange how we left.

“We were sacked the night before a game. We were at the hotel. We were ready to sleep and play a game the next day, to manage the game, and we were called down after 10 o’clock to be informed that we were leaving.

“It was quite a strange feeling leaving that hotel at 10.30 at night. Which means he was ruthless, proper. I felt miserable when I was leaving the hotel with my luggage. I was supposed to be thinking about tomorrow and going home. It was strange.

“If it was Monday morning after a game and you get a phone call from the chairman, you are thinking, oh, oh, oh… maybe we are getting the sack.

“But you have a phone call in your room. You are thinking, oh, something happened, maybe the game is called off or something else, but you would never expect to get sacked the night before a game at the hotel.”

Poyet gives verdict on Spurs without Daniel Levy

Reflecting on Tottenham’s future without Levy, Poyet admitted supporters may come to appreciate his work more than they realised at the time.

He urged fans to consider the infrastructure Levy leaves behind, while calling for patience with the new leadership.

“The real Spurs fans, the ones that go every two weeks to the magnificent new stadium – they know what he did for the club,” Poyet told Oddspedia. “They complained and they were trying to change the chairman. I think they know deep inside them that he did terrific things.

“You have to be proud when you go to the best stadium in the country. You have to be proud that your players are training in one of the best training grounds in world football. So there are plenty of things that have been done and you have to give him credit.

“Let us give the new people two or three years to see if they can really do what the fans think Daniel Levy did not do. So I would say to the fans, say thank you for what you have done and move on. Nothing else.”

Vinai Venkatesham makes exciting claim about Tottenham investment from the Lewis family - Spurs Web
Description

Amidst ongoing rumours that the Lewis family are set to inject a lot of money into Tottenham Hotspur, club CEO Vinai Venkatesham has now reassured supporters that the family know exactly what it will take for Spurs to compete for major honours.

Soon after Daniel Levy’s exit from Tottenham was confirmed last Thursday, Alasdair Gold reported that Levy’s exit may be a prelude to some investment coming into Spurs.

The Telegraph have even said that the Lewis family are ready to inject over £100m into Tottenham so that the Lilywhites can go toe-to-toe with the biggest clubs in Europe.

A number of sources over the last few days have claimed that the Lewis family want to usher in a new era at Spurs, where on-field success is prioritised.

Vinai Venkatesham reveals what the Lewis family will focus on

Tottenham’s CEO has now spoken about the big change at the top and has claimed that the Lewis family are very passionate about the club and wants to see it succeed.

Venkatesham insisted that they are laser-focused on ensuring that the team achieves success on the pitch and can compete for the biggest trophies in the game.

The Spurs chief told Tottenham’s official website: “Well, first and foremost, I know the Lewis family really well, I think it’s important for our supporters to know that they are very passionate about Tottenham Hotspur, and they are ambitious for the Club.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“And, when I talk about their ambition, what they’re really focused on is ensuring that everything we do across the complete breadth of the Club really centres back and is focused on giving our men’s team and our women’s team the best chance to be successful on the pitch over the long-term.

“So that’s their laser focus – all around being successful on the pitch. They know, of course, that we operate in a very competitive environment and that there are a number of other teams that have the exact same ambitions we have – to compete to win the biggest trophies in the game.

“So, we know it’s not easy and we know that there is hard work ahead, but that absolutely is the focus. They are also focused on stability. They know there has been lots of change at the Club and now it’s time for some calm and for some stability.

“And finally, they believe and trust in the people that we have working in the organisation. So, their model is all about empowering the people we have on the ground to deliver against the ambition they have and, of course, the ambition that we all share.”

When asked who has been involved from the family so far, Venkatesham said: “There’s been a big focus on the Club from the next generation of the family, and to talk you through the key people – the first is Viv Lewis, who is a very regular attendee at Tottenham Hotspur games and also frequently joins us on pre-season tours.

“She was with us this summer for the whole of our tour to Hong Kong and South Korea. Going forward, around the Club you’ll be seeing a bit more of her brother Charlie and also her son-in-law Nick, and the thing that ties them all together is their passion for Tottenham Hotspur and their ambition for the Club moving forward.”

Venkatesham discusses potential investment from Tottenham’s owners

The Spurs CEO also addressed the reports doing the rounds that money is now set to be injected into the club to help them compete for top players.

Some reports have said over recent days that Tottenham are set to change their transfer policy to pursue elite players, and Venkatesham has now said that the Lewis family are very well aware that investment will be needed to take the club to the top.

When asked what the change in leadership of Spurs means for investment into the club, he responded: “I need to try and answer your question without leading to a whole load of transfer war chest stories tomorrow. I think it is very fair to say that we have firm backing from the Lewis family against our ambitions to be successful on the pitch, both on the men’s side and women’s side.

“They know that’s going to require investment, and we have their firm backing. But I would also say, like all other 20 Premier League clubs, we also need to make sure that we’re cognisant and aware of the financial fair play rules, and that means we need to continue to grow our revenues, we need to continue to develop players – both from the academy and young players that we buy – we need to make sure that we’re selling players at the right time.

“We also need to make sure that every time we’re recruiting a player, we’re making smart decisions, both from a sporting perspective and a financial perspective. If you don’t do that, because of how the financial regulations work, you can find yourself in a position where you’ve got money to spend, but the regulations don’t allow you to spend it.

Description

Tottenham captain Cristian Romero may have committed his future to north London, but the £43m defender has now revealed the one club he would like to play for one day.

During the summer transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur would have been worried about losing their star defender Cristian Romero.

Atletico Madrid had shown interest and were keen to land Romero, but ultimately, a move did not materialise, with Romero staying put at Tottenham.

The Tottenham captain has now signed a new four-year deal at the club, committing himself until 2029, with his new deal set to expire when he is 31.

Cristian Romero admits he wants Belgrano return

Tottenham would hope their star centre-back sees his contract through, but Romero has now stated that he would welcome a return to his boyhood club.

Speaking to El Grafico, the Tottenham captain explained that if he were to move back to Argentina, there would be only one club for him.

He said: “If I were to return tomorrow, it will be to play for Belgrano. There is no other club, I have a lot of respect for them.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“It is the club that saw me grow up. Beyond everything that has happened, it is something personal for me to play in the club’s shirt.”

Spurs captain Romero and his Belgrano roots

Romero made four appearances for the under-20 side at Belgrano before breaking into the senior team at the age of 16, where he went on to play a further 19 games until Genoa moved for him in July 2018.

Since his £42.5m switch from Atalanta in August 2021, the Argentina international has amassed 128 appearances for Tottenham, establishing himself as one of the most reliable defenders in the Premier League.

Tottenham emerge as serious contenders to sign £44m Brighton star in January - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a move for a Brighton defender, with reports suggesting that the centre-back could be on the move in January if he fails to agree new terms at the Amex.

Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a good summer window, at least according to Ally McCoist, who highlighted his standout signing of the summer for Spurs and praised the direction the club is heading.

Yet for all the praise, there remains a sense of what might have been had Tottenham managed to get every one of their transfer targets across the line.

Savinho had been linked with a move to north London, but the Brazilian remained in Manchester City, while Spurs also sought defensive reinforcements but came up empty on deadline day.

Tottenham want Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke

According to GIVEMESPORT, Thomas Frank has been encouraged in his pursuit of Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke, with Tottenham now considered serious contenders for the Dutchman’s signature.

Tottenham had shown interest in Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake on deadline day, but their pursuit did not yield any results, while links with left-sided centre-back Piero Hincapie were denied.

Van Hecke has yet to commit to fresh terms with Brighton, leaving the door ajar for a possible exit when the January transfer window opens, with Spurs keen on his signature.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Dutchman currently earns £50,000 per week and has two years remaining on his current deal, yet Tottenham are thought to be open to a move for him after opting against pushing through a transfer in the summer.

Van Hecke could spark transfer battle

Brighton are still intent on convincing Van Hecke to sign an extension, but with the 25-year-old valued at £44 million, he is understood to be open to testing the market to see which clubs step forward with interest.

Tottenham Hotspur are keen, but they will not be alone, with several Premier League rivals monitoring his situation closely.

Tottenham gave Hamburg a bargain deal for Luka Vuskovic as loan fee is revealed - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur may not have received a huge windfall from Luka Vuskovic’s loan exit, but there are still long-term hopes pinned on the young defender’s future.

Tottenham Hotspur sanctioned a number of exits during the summer window, with some players sold and others heading out on loan to continue their development.

One of those was Luka Vuskovic, who had just returned from a two-year loan spell at Hajduk Split and Westerlo after turning 18 years old.

The Croatian centre-back had caught the eye during Tottenham’s pre-season, registering a goal and an assist against Reading, which only fuelled the belief that he has the qualities needed to grow into a top-level defender.

Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic joins Hamburg on low-cost deal

Despite those encouraging performances, Vuskovic was sent on loan to Bundesliga side Hamburg in the summer, with the move designed to secure him more playing time before pushing for a place in Tottenham’s first team.

German outlet Bild have now reported details of the switch, stating that Hamburg only paid around €1m (£850k) for the deal.

The report adds that it is not entirely clear whether this figure represents just the loan fee or both the loan fee and the player’s salary, but either way, it underlines that Hamburg has secured the Croatian on very favourable terms.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs, meanwhile, will be monitoring the youngster closely, as the expectation is for him to use this spell in Germany as a platform to prove himself before returning to compete with the likes of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven for minutes in North London.

Tottenham hope Luka Vuskovic can grow into first-team role

The young centre-back has plenty of talent, but regular football is vital, and Hamburg reportedly views him as a defender capable of leading their backline even at his age.

Vuskovic himself speaking recently, shed light on why he pushed for the loan move, making it clear that he prioritised consistent minutes over staying put at Tottenham as a rotation option.

He said: “They (Tottenham) offered me the option to stay, to play in case of injury or cup games. But I wanted consistent playing time. They have Romero and Van de Ven, two of the best centre-backs in the world right now.

“I believe in myself, but it is really hard to play next to them. I have faced them and realised I need to work harder. A lot of work and a bit of luck, and I will return.”
