Description

Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their summer business with a bold move for Xavi Simons, as Daniel Levy looks to pull off a hijack that could shake up the final days of the transfer window.

The British summer window is drawing to a close, and Tottenham Hotspur are still in the market, determined to secure the signing of a creative number ten who can give Thomas Frank the spark his side needs.

The Lilywhites have explored several high-profile options, with their shortlist including Premier League-proven stars such as Eberechi Eze and Morgan Gibbs-White, but those pursuits ended in disappointment as deals failed to materialise.

Attention has now shifted to Germany, where Xavi Simons has been identified as a priority target, with only a few days left before the window slams shut.

Tottenham make opening Xavi Simons bid to RB Leipzig

Florian Plettenberg has reported that Tottenham Hotspur have now made the first official move for Xavi Simons this summer.

According to the journalist, Spurs have submitted a bid for the RB Leipzig man, with the offer understood to be close to the German club’s valuation of €70 million (around £59.5 million) all-in.

Tottenham, though, face competition, as Chelsea are also monitoring Simons’ situation, yet the Blues have not tabled a bid for the 22-year-old Dutch international at this stage.

Spurs must get Simons deal over the line

Tottenham supporters will not be getting too carried away just yet, as they have seen their club miss out on transfer targets before, even at stages where deals looked completed and medicals had been booked.

It is understood that Simons is currently in London, with Tottenham planning to hold direct talks with the attacking midfielder today, which suggests there is intent to move swiftly.

Tottenham Hotspur receive a boost in their hopes of beating Chelsea to Xavi Simons in the final week of the transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons has now stepped up a level, with reports suggesting that the Dutch international is already in London.

The 22-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, with Chelsea long considered favourites for his signature, but Tottenham have now moved into a commanding position to secure the services of Simons.

For Spurs fans, who have had to watch the club struggle in their attempts to bring in a creative number ten, the latest updates point towards a potentially huge breakthrough in what has been a frustrating window.

Tottenham edge closer to Xavi Simons transfer

TBR Football are now the latest outlet to report on Xavi Simons, and they claim that Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of landing the Dutchman have received a major boost.

It has been revealed that Simons is now ready to stop waiting for Chelsea and instead focus on a move to Tottenham, which would represent a significant turning point in this transfer saga.

While Chelsea has been widely reported to have already agreed personal terms with Simons, they have shown little urgency in meeting RB Leipzig’s £60 million valuation, and their slow progress has opened the door for Spurs to push forward with the deal.

MORE SPURS STORIES

That lack of movement from Stamford Bridge has left Simons’ representatives looking at alternative options, and Tottenham are now advancing discussions, with the player himself happy to engage with the North London club.

Why Spurs desperately need Simons this summer

With Chelsea dragging their feet, this is a prime opportunity for Tottenham to finally secure a number ten who can transform their attacking play before the transfer window shuts.

The recent injuries to Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison have underlined just how vital it is that Spurs bring in a creative spark, particularly as the club prepares to compete on multiple fronts this season.

It could prove to be a perfect fit for both sides, as Xavi Simons is clearly tired of waiting around for Chelsea to act, while Tottenham should be equally tired of searching endlessly for a number ten.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Xavi Simons throughout the summer and it could now be a one-horse race to sign the RB Leipzig midfielder.

Xavi Simons has been attracting plenty of interest this summer and the reason is clear. He is a composed midfielder who is good in front of goal, crafts opportunities for his teammates and is only 22 years old.

Spurs have long been linked with the talent and a recent report suggested Tottenham could hijack Chelsea’s move for Simons after transfer talks stalled. Since then, Spurs have made an enquiry about Simons, with the player keen on a move away from Leipzig.

Further boosting Tottenham’s hopes of securing Simons, Chelsea are evaluating a move for Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez. This comes despite the fact that the Blues have been interested in Simons for some time.

Tottenham may have overtaken Chelsea in the race to sign Xavi Simons

A new report from Dom Smith of The Standard has confirmed that Chelsea are indeed working on a move for Fermín López.

However, the 22-year-old is not the only player who could make a late switch to Enzo Maresca’s team. Alejandro Garnacho is also being considered and both players are reportedly bigger priorities to Chelsea than Simons.

Garnacho is yet to make an appearance for Manchester United since he came off the bench against Tottenham in the Europa League final. Spurs have already rejected the chance to sign Garnacho this summer.

What other midfielders are Spurs linked with?

Tottenham are considering a move for Lucas Paqueta, but it would be surprising if West Ham were willing to sell two key players to their rivals in the same transfer window. On top of this, Paqueta is not pushing for a move as he is grateful to the club for standing by him when he was under investigation for match-fixing, for which he has since been cleared.

While Paqueta may be an unrealistic target at this point in time, Tottenham are considering a move for Kobbie Mainoo. The young midfielder was once viewed as the next big English talent, but his minutes at Old Trafford have been limited recently.

It has also been reported that Spurs could launch a late bid for Adrien Rabiot. The 30-year-old has been frozen out at Marseille after clashing with a teammate.

Tottenham Hotspur are now stepping up efforts to conclude a deal for Xavi Simons ahead of their London rivals, Chelsea, and RB Leipzig have now told the Lilywhites how much they would need to pay to get the transfer over the line.

With Chelsea thought to have turned their attention to Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez, Tottenham may have moved to the front of the queue to land Simons.

In fact, it emerged this morning that Simons is currently in London ahead of a potential move to Spurs, who have been assigned as the new favourites to land the Dutchman by some sources.

However, Tottenham Hotspur still have work to do to beat the Blues to the signature of the 22-year-old attacking midfielder.

RB Leipzig tell Tottenham how much to pay for Xavi Simons

Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has now taken to social media to reveal that Spurs have informed Leipzig that they are now ‘pushing’ to land the Netherlands international.

The journalist also confirms that Simons is currently in the British capital and has been released by his club to complete a late transfer.

However, Plettenberg makes it clear that Chelsea are still very much in the race to sign the player, having already agreed personal terms with the former Paris Saint-Germain man.

Leipzig are waiting for offers from both London clubs, with the Bundesliga side demanding €70m (£60.4m) for Simons.

Spurs fans will not be getting their hopes up about Simons deal

Given the way the transfer window has transpired for Tottenham so far, Spurs fans will be wary of getting excited about a potential deal for Simons.

They will feel that there is every chance that the Leipzig star ends up at Stamford Bridge, especially given that he has already approved a move to the West London club.

Description

Tottenham have been put on high alert with Xavi Simons now spotted in London, as the Dutchman’s future takes another twist just days before the transfer window closes.

Reports linking Xavi Simons with a move to Tottenham Hotspur are beginning to circulate as deadline day edges closer, and once again, the north London side find themselves right in the mix for one of Europe’s brightest young midfielders.

Tottenham, who had been linked with the Dutch international earlier in the summer, appear to have reignited their interest after missing out on a move for their previous number ten target, and the timing could hardly be more dramatic.

Simons was one of the standout performers in the Bundesliga last season with RB Leipzig, registering ten goals and seven assists, and his form has not gone unnoticed, with Chelsea also monitoring his situation closely.

Tottenham face Chelsea battle for Xavi Simons

It was reported earlier today that Simons has arrived in London to hold talks over his next move, with Tottenham heavily involved in discussions and all indications pointing towards the club’s intent to bring him to north London.

Journalist Matt Law has added further detail by revealing that while Spurs are indeed working to secure Xavi Simons, Chelsea have not stepped away from the chase.

MORE SPURS STORIES

At the moment, reports claim that the Blues are still considering their options despite having to manage outgoings before moving forward with a deal for Simons.

Chelsea have tracked the attacking midfielder for some time, but their inability to push through a deal has left the door ajar, and Tottenham are now looking to capitalise by putting themselves firmly in the frame.

Spurs must move quickly to secure Simons

With Chelsea still very much in contention, Tottenham Hotspur will need to act decisively if they are to sign Xavi Simons this summer and avoid the frustration of losing another top target to a direct rival.

Florian Plettenberg has also shared what he knows about the Simons situation, noting that Tottenham are preparing to hijack what looked set to be an imminent move to Chelsea, which has left the race wide open once again.

He explained that the Dutchman has been excused from RB Leipzig duties due to ongoing contract talks and has left Germany.

He also confirmed that Chelsea already has a full agreement in place, meaning Spurs will have to table a convincing offer quickly if they are to stand any chance. Leipzig, meanwhile, are waiting for official proposals to arrive before sanctioning a deal.

Tottenham face disasterous twist in Yves Bissouma’s transfer to Galatasaray - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s plans to sell midfielder Yves Bissouma to Galatasaray this summer have hit a massive roadblock at the last minute.

Tottenham are determined to part ways with Yves Bissouma, who has not yet managed to feature under Thomas Frank in a competitive match.

The midfielder, 28, has only a year left on his current contract and looked set for a switch to Galatasaray after reports last week suggested that the move was edging closer.

It was widely reported that personal terms had already been settled between Bissouma and Galatasaray, with the expectation that the deal would be pushed over the line quickly as the summer window ticks down.

Yves Bissouma transfer from Tottenham to Galatasaray faces major setback

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported on X on Thursday morning that all three parties involved – Tottenham Hotspur, Galatasaray and Yves Bissouma – were facing complications that could derail the midfielder’s proposed switch to Turkey.

According to his update, an agreement had been reached between Tottenham and Galatasaray for a loan move with an obligation to buy, but the transfer was in danger of collapsing despite the breakthrough.

Galatasaray were said to have concerns over potential physical issues, which created significant hesitation, with the Turkish champions reluctant to commit to a player they fear may not be fully fit and available straight away. Tavolieri concluded his report with a simple “wait and see”.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Unfortunately, the latest update from Tavolieri reveals that Bissouma’s move to Galatasaray is now off. The Turkish club have decided to move on to other targets.

When Bissouma could return to full fitness

Tottenham supporters have already expressed their farewells to Yves Bissouma, with messages ranging from those who wished him luck to those who felt his departure could not come soon enough.

The Mali international has not played a competitive game this season and was omitted from the UEFA Super Cup squad for disciplinary reasons, having reported late to training on several occasions under new manager Thomas Frank.

Tottenham are pushing hard to secure the signing of RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons, with reports suggesting the Dutch midfielder could be edging closer to a move as the club steps up their pursuit of a new number ten.

It has been setback after setback for Tottenham Hotspur, who still remain intent on finding the right player to take on the number ten role this summer.

Attention has now shifted towards RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons, with the club keen to test Leipzig’s resolve as they continue their hunt for attacking creativity.

Chelsea have tracked the Dutchman for some time, but it is now Tottenham who appear ready to firm up their interest and potentially steal a march on their London rivals.

Tottenham schedule direct talks with Xavi Simons

According to Bild, Xavi Simons is currently in London discussing his future, with interest from Premier League clubs continuing to build.

At present, it is understood that everything points towards Spurs, who have retained their interest in the midfielder, having been linked with him earlier in the window.

Reports also suggest that Tottenham have already spoken with RB Leipzig regarding a potential deal and are now due to hold direct talks with the player himself.

Chelsea competition gives Spurs an opening

Chelsea have long been admirers of Simons, but with the Blues also monitoring Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez, Tottenham sense a genuine opportunity to push through a deal.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are set to discover their fate in the UEFA Champions League as the league phase draw takes place today, with Spurs now confirmed in a specific pot ahead of the ceremony.

Tottenham Hotspur are back in the UEFA Champions League thanks to their Europa League triumph last season in Bilbao, Spain.

The Europa League winners are one of six English sides set to compete in the competition this season, marking their first appearance in Europe’s premier club competition since the 2022/23 campaign.

With the play-offs now completed, attention swiftly turns to the draw itself, which is scheduled to be conducted later today.

Tottenham placed in pot three for Champions League draw

Ahead of the draw, Tottenham Hotspur now know which pot they are set to be in this evening when the balls are rolled out.

According to ESPN, Tottenham find themselves in pot three for the UEFA Champions League draw, with Spurs and Newcastle United being the only two English clubs not to make it into pots one or two.

The pots do not really matter in the new league phase format, as Spurs will face two teams from each pot before making it into the round of 16 or playoffs, depending on where they finish in the Champions League table.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, it is worth noting that they cannot play any English side in the League phase. Here are the teams in each pot:

What this means for Spurs in the Champions League

With only a few hours left before the draw commences today, fans in the UK will be able to watch the ceremony live on UEFA’s official website and YouTube channel.

This season will also mark Tottenham’s first campaign in the new Champions League format, and Thomas Frank will be hopeful that his side can make a strong impression as they look to progress beyond the league phase.

The road ahead is never straightforward at this level, but Spurs’ return to the top table of European football is one that their supporters will embrace with genuine excitement.

Why Tottenham should never have even attempted to sign Piero Hincapie

Why Tottenham should never have even attempted to sign Piero Hincapie - Spurs Web
Description

Another player linked with a switch to Tottenham Hotspur is about to join Arsenal, but Piero Hincapie should have always been at the bottom of Spurs’ priority list.

Tottenham Hotspur have had a remarkable transfer window, but for all the wrong reasons. Time and time again, the club have been linked with a player, only for a move to never occur.

This began with the Morgan Gibbs-White ordeal. It looked certain the 25-year-old would swap the City Ground for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but instead he ended up signing a new contract at Nottingham Forest.

Next came Eberechi Eze, who joined Arsenal, despite being backed to sign for Spurs. It now seems likely that Piero Hincapie could join him at the Gunners, yet another player who was rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Fabrizio Romano reported that Tottenham sent a bid for Hincapie, which included a loan with an obligation to buy. However, Arsenal quickly stole a march on the race for the Bayer Leverkusen defender.

Tottenham should not have been pursuing Piero Hincapie

One of Tottenham’s biggest failures in the transfer window has been targeting players who only see the Europa League winners as their second choice.

Thomas Frank has already got off to a good start and he deserves a squad that gives their all. Spurs should show no interest in any player who treats the club as a safety net in the event that no other teams want them.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, there is another problem with Tottenham pursuing Hincapie and that is to do with his position. The Bayer Leverkusen man is a centre-back, a position where Spurs have already strengthened this summer with the signings of Kevin Danso and Koto Takai. On top of these, Luka Vuskovic joined up with the Tottenham first-team squad.

Despite plenty of rumours, Spurs managed to keep hold of new captain Cristian Romero, while both Ben Davies and Radu Dragusin remain at the club. In total, this leaves Tottenham with seven centre-back options, so while Hincapie would have been a luxury, he is certainly not a necessity.

Spurs have bigger needs further up the pitch

If Tottenham are to spend £50m+ in three different positions, then by all means go for another defender. However, the chances of this happening are almost impossible, particularly as Mohammed Kudus alone cost £55m.

Spurs are only likely to make one or two further signings and the main priorities have to be the left wing and attacking midfield.

Tottenham did sign Mathys Tel, but the sale of Heung-min Son cancels out that move and demands another signing. Brennan Johnson has two goals in his last two matches playing on the left, but should he really be relied on to be first-choice on his secondary wing when he was second choice last season on his primary wing?

The attacking midfield is perhaps an even greater issue. Pape Matar Sarr is in excellent form, but Tottenham need an attacker who can offer what James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski can up front.

Therefore, Spurs must abandon any pursuit of a centre-back at this point in the transfer window and just ensure the attacking positions are filled.

It is too late to be perfecting the squad across every area of the pitch. Right now, there simply needs to be at least one clear starter in every position and this is not yet true of the left wing or attacking midfield.

How to watch Tottenham vs Bournemouth in the Premier League, team news and prediction - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur return to Premier League action this weekend as Thomas Frank looks to build on a perfect start, with a tricky clash against Bournemouth set to test Spurs’ early momentum. Here’s how to watch the clash between Tottenham and Bournemouth.

Tottenham Hotspur head into the clash against Bournemouth off the back of a statement 2-0 victory over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

It was only Thomas Frank’s second win against the Spaniard in his managerial career, but it set the tone for what Spurs hope will be a season of consistency and conviction.

Two games into the campaign, Tottenham sit second in the Premier League table, boasting an impressive record of five goals scored and none conceded, a stark contrast to the frailties that plagued them last term.

Their next challenge comes against Bournemouth, who arrive with a mixed start to the season. After a heavy 4-2 defeat to Liverpool in their opener, they bounced back with a narrow but important 1-0 win over Wolves, showing they are capable of grinding out results when needed.

When and where is the game?

The clash between Tottenham and Bournemouth will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, 30 August 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 (UK time).

How to watch Tottenham vs Bournemouth in the UK

Unfortunately for Tottenham supporters, the match will not be broadcast live in the UK due to the 3 pm blackout rule. Highlights will be available later in the evening on BBC’s Match of the Day, while the club will also share key moments across their official social media channels.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham and Bournemouth team news

Tottenham are still managing several injury concerns ahead of this weekend’s encounter. Bryan Gil remains out with a knee issue, while Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison continue to be long-term absentees in midfield.

Destiny Udogie could be in line for a return after missing time with a preseason injury. Elsewhere, Kota Takai is nursing a foot problem, while Manor Solomon is recovering from his knock and is edging closer to full fitness.

Radu Dragusin is still working his way back from a cruciate ligament injury, and Yves Bissouma remains a doubt after sustaining a knock in training before the Burnley clash in gameweek one.

As for Bournemouth, they will also be without a few of their stars. Forward Enes Unal is recovering from a cruciate ligament injury and is expected back in early October, while midfielder Lewis Cook is doubtful with a knee problem, leaving their squad somewhat stretched.

Spurs Web prediction for Tottenham vs Bournemouth

Of course, so far, Thomas Frank has overseen a superb start, with Spurs looking sharp in both penalty areas, something that was sorely lacking in previous campaigns. The defence has remained resolute, while the attack has carved open chances with ease.

Bournemouth, on the other hand, still appears unsettled at the back, having lost several key defenders during the transfer window, and that vulnerability could be exposed by a Tottenham side in form.

This has all the makings of another strong result for Spurs, who may well enter the international break sitting at the summit of the Premier League table.
