There was great excitement surrounding Luka Vuskovic when he linked up with the Tottenham first-team squad this summer, but he is unlikely to play a role at the club this season.

Tottenham Hotspur supporters were eager to see Luka Vuskovic in action and it is not difficult to understand why. He measures 6.3ft, scored seven goals in the Belgian Pro League last season and is only 18 years of age.

Vuskovic has already shown what he is capable of for Tottenham. He came off the bench against Reading in pre-season and within 10 minutes, the Croatian already had a goal and an assist.

However, Vuskovic has not yet made a competitive appearance for Spurs. He has been named in the Tottenham first-team squad on all three matchdays so far, but Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Kevin Danso have all been preferred to him.

Luka Vuskovic is set to join Hamburg on loan from Tottenham

Tottenham were said to be close to agreeing to allow Vuskovic to join Hamburg on loan. This came after Hamburg already agreed personal terms with Vuskovic. However, a more recent report claimed Spurs were still negotiating with the Bundesliga side.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Vuskovic will join Hamburg, the team his brother and fellow centre-back Mario plays for. However, the loan move will not allow Hamburg the chance to sign Vuskovic permanently at the end of the season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Romano’s X post read: “HSV Hamburg get green light from Tottenham for Luka Vusković to join the club on loan.

“No buy option, straight loan as seen as key part of future project at Tottenham Hotspur and huge talent.”

The move will see the defender reunited with his brother, Mario Vuskovic, who is already on the books at Hamburg but is serving a doping ban until November 2026.

Luka Vuskovic could make his Tottenham breakthrough next season

A season in the Bundesliga will do Vuskovic a world of good and he should return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as an improved player. It could be that an opportunity opens up for him at the club. Ben Davies is likely to be out of a contract by then, while Radu Dragusin would have to work very hard to change his fortunes at the club.

Rather than signing another new centre-back next summer, Tottenham could put their trust in Vuskovic and use him and Danso as their second choice central defenders.

Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race to land RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons, whose move to Chelsea has now stalled, according to a new report from Germany.

It was reported that Tottenham explored a move for Simons after missing out on Eberechi Eze, but it was suggested that it might be too late for the Lilywhites to secure the Dutchman.

That is because the 22-year-old was thought to be close to swapping the Red Bull Stadium for Stamford Bridge.

However, it now looks like Tottenham have made a late play to land the Netherlands international while Chelsea drag their heels over a deal.

This report comes from Bild, who claim that Tottenham have made contact with RB Leipzig over a potential move for Xavi Simons as they look to bolster their attacking options with James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski both nursing long-term injuries.

It is revealed that Thomas Frank’s men have now ‘entered the poker game’ to land Simons, having enquired about the attacking midfielder.

However, as of yet, the player is not close to leaving Leipzig, who are yet to receive a formal offer for the versatile attacker.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Simons has his heart set on leaving Leipzig, and the Bundesliga club are optimistic they can complete a sale before the transfer deadline, but he continues to train with Ole Werner’s side at the moment.

Why has Simons’ move to Chelsea stalled?

The attacking midfielder is said to have agreed on personal terms with Chelsea many weeks ago.

However, Chelsea are not able to make an offer for the Dutchman until they get some of the players out of the door first.

Simons has his eyes firmly set on a move to the Premier League and has hired a new agent, Ali Barat, who is well-connected in England, in order to help him make the move before the September 1 deadline.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are seemingly scrambling to get some attackers through the door before the transfer window slams shut on Monday, and they have now turned their attention to two experienced Premier League stars.

It has been widely reported that Spurs want to sign a number 10 and a winger before the transfer deadline, but Daniel Levy is quickly running out of time to deliver those signings.

If reports over recent days are to be believed, Tottenham are now launching enquiries for attackers across Europe, which may not come across to Spurs fans as a coherent transfer strategy.

It has now emerged that the Lilywhites have added two more Premier League stars to their ever-growing list of targets.

Fabrizio Romano claims Spurs are interested in Paqueta and Semenyo

This week, we have heard reports that Tottenham have turned their attention to Lucas Paqueta, who is looking for an exit route from West Ham.

This has now been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano in his latest YouTube video, where he says that over the last 24 to 48 hours, Spurs have made some calls to understand the situations of other potential targets.

One of those is Paqueta, who has now been cleared of the spot-fixing charges that have been hanging over him for the past year.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Romano reveals that Tottenham have now also enquired about a late move for Antoine Semenyo, but he admits that it is going to be difficult to get the winger out of Bournemouth at this stage of the transfer window.

He said: “Tottenham also made some calls for other players. They wanted to understand the situation of Lucas Paqueta at West Ham. Also a player they appreciate and they know very well, and was already a target, but now obviously is late in the market so it’s going to be difficult is Semenyo at Bournemouth – another name mentioned internally at Tottenham in the last 24 hours.”

Fabrizio Romano makes a prediction about Spurs’ transfer activity

While Tottenham fans are understandably becoming increasingly worried about the lack of new signings, Romano makes a prediction that will reassure the supporters.

He goes on to say in the video that Spurs will soon make ‘final decisions’ on the players they are tracking, and it will be time for them to ‘attack’ them.

Romano then adds: “Tottenham will be busy in the market. It is not over at all. They are optimistic about finding solutions. For sure, Tottenham’s movements are going to be one to watch in the final days of this crazy window.”

Tottenham interested in midfielder who rejected them in 2018 for being ‘below’ his level

Tottenham interested in midfielder who rejected them in 2018 for being ‘below’ his level - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on a French midfielder in the final stretch of the window, with fresh interest emerging in a player who once publicly declared he did not want to play for Spurs.

As each day passes, the British transfer deadline draws closer, and Tottenham Hotspur remain without any fresh additions to bolster the squad.

The club have so far completed the signings of Mohammed Kudus, Joao Palhinha and Kota Takai, who stand as the only new arrivals in what has otherwise been a quiet summer window for Spurs.

Last season’s 17th-place finish in the Premier League highlighted just how much work needed to be done. With injuries continuing to rule out important names, Tottenham are still a side that clearly requires strengthening.

Tottenham hold interest in Adrien Rabiot

A fresh report from Fabrice Hawkins on X now states that Spurs have expressed interest in Adrien Rabiot, who is also attracting attention from AC Milan and Aston Villa.

The 30-year-old Frenchman currently plays in Ligue 1 for Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille, who secured UEFA Champions League qualification last season.

According to the Hawkins report, it is understood that talks have already taken place with the midfielder’s entourage as clubs weigh up potential offers.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, despite Tottenahm being linked with a move, there appears to be no formal progress at this stage, with Marseille yet to be contacted by any of the interested sides.

Ironically, back in 2018, Rabiot turned down a move to Tottenham because he deemed them to be ‘below’ his level.

Why Rabiot may not be the right fit for Spurs

While Adrien Rabiot is undoubtedly experienced, having played for Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus at the highest level, this is not necessarily the type of signing that would excite Tottenham supporters.

Throughout the summer, Spurs have been linked with more dynamic and attacking profiles such as Eberechi Eze, Morgan Gibbs-White and Morgan Rogers, players who would bring freshness and creativity to the squad.

If Tottenham end up bypassing these exciting options and instead settle for a 30-year-old midfielder who once felt he was above joining the club, it could leave the fanbase feeling short-changed and frustrated.

Tottenham plot late transfer hijack as Chelsea stall on Xavi Simons talks - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham are set to make a late move in the transfer market, with reports suggesting the club are eyeing an ambitious Chelsea hijack.

Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of a creative midfielder has been a frustrating one this summer, with the club still scrambling to secure a number ten as the window edges towards its conclusion.

New boss Thomas Frank has already missed out on two of his preferred options, with Eberechi Eze ultimately choosing Arsenal despite Tottenham reaching an agreement of their own, leaving Spurs scrambling for alternatives.

Before that setback, Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs White was Frank’s top choice, yet a move never came to fruition, with the player deciding to commit his future at the City Ground rather than pursue a switch to north London.

Tottenham target Xavi Simons after Chelsea stall

According to CaughtOffside, Spurs’ transfer plans have taken another twist with the club now exploring the potential signing of Xavi Simons following the collapse of the Eze pursuit.

The Dutch midfielder has long been admired across Europe, and Tottenham are keen to test the waters, although Chelsea are understood to remain frontrunners to secure his signature.

Reports claim Chelsea have already reached a verbal agreement on personal terms with Simons, but delays on incomings caused by their need to sanction outgoings have created an opening, with Spurs considering a hijack as the deadline looms.

Spurs may need a quick decision on Xavi Simons

Simons impressed at RB Leipzig last season, scoring ten goals and registering seven assists across 25 Bundesliga appearances. This season, he has already opened his account, grabbing a goal and an assist.

Despite Tottenham’s clear interest, Caughtoffside adds that Spurs have so far only made enquiries into Simons’ availability, rather than tabling a concrete bid.

The Lilywhites are said to be monitoring the situation closely and gauging Leipzig’s stance, yet with time quickly running out in the British summer transfer window, Tottenham may soon be forced into action if they are serious about turning interest into a firm offer.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly stepping up their pursuit of Morgan Rogers after Aston Villa decided that they would be open to a late sale of the attacking midfielder.

It has been widely reported that Rogers has been identified as a dream signing by Tottenham after they missed out on Eberechi Eze.

It has been claimed by a number of sources that Spurs are ready to test Villa’s resolve to hold onto Rogers in the final few days of the transfer window.

According to Greame Bailey, Villa have made it clear that they would not be selling Rogers late in the transfer window, but a new update claims that the Midlands club’s stance has changed.

Aston Villa are preparing for Morgan Rogers sale amid Tottenham interest

Football Insider have now asserted that Villa are now readying themselves for the scenario of losing the 23-year-old as Spurs prepare to accelerate their efforts to land the attacking midfielder.

The report says that Tottenham are hoping to take advantage of the Midlands club’s financial problems and strike a deal for Rogers.

Unai Emery reportedly believes that he needs a bigger squad to work with in order to compete in the Premier League and Europe.

MORE SPURS STORIES

As a result, Villa could decide to cash in on the England international to fund a spending spree in the final days of the transfer window.

How much would Spurs have to pay for Rogers?

It was previously reported by The Independent that it would take a bid in excess of £80m to prise Rogers away from Villa.

That would make the former Middlesbrough man comfortably the most expensive player in Spurs’ history, a record which is currently held by Dominic Solanke, who cost £65m from Bournemouth last summer.

Como owner sets the record straight on Tottenham’s £60m bid for Nico Paz - Spurs Web
Description

Como owner Mirwan Suwarso has denied claims that the Serie A club have turned down a huge offer from Tottenham Hotspur for Nico Paz.

On Monday, it was reported that Tottenham had a €70m (£60.7m) offer rejected by Como for Paz, who was said to be keen on remaining at the Serie A club for one more season.

It was subsequently revealed that Real Madrid played a big role in Como rejecting Tottenham’s offer for Paz as Los Blancos had the right to match any accepted bid for the midfielder, as well as a buy-back clause valid for next summer.

That update came from Fabrizio Romano, who went on to explain that the La Liga giants had told the Italian side that they would compensate them in the future for rejecting the North London club’s offers.

Como owner denies receiving Tottenham offer for Nico Paz

Como owner Mirwan Suwarso has now poured cold water over these rumours, denying that any offer has arrived for the Argentina international this summer.

He also admitted that there were fears that the midfielder would return to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, but declared that the player has decided to stay.

When asked about the speculation over Paz, Suwarso told Corriere della Sera (as relayed by Sport Witness): “It’s not true that we rejected the offer. No one formalises an offer knowing that then we should send them to Real Madrid, who have the right to match.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“There was a moment when we feared Nico might return to Madrid: he grew up in Real Madrid’s youth academy and dreams of playing at the Bernabeu one day. Luckily, he stayed.”

When asked about Tottenham’s offer, Paz has said that he is focused on helping Como reach the next level.

Como boss Cesc Fabregas has also insisted that he is not worried about losing Paz in the final few days of the transfer window.

Yves Bissouma deserves our best wishes but Tottenham will be just fine without him - Spurs Web
Description

Yves Bissouma is set to depart Tottenham Hotspur after three years of struggling to justify why he was signed from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Tottenham Hotspur have signed many players over the years who are still remembered fondly for their contributions to the club. However, there are those who are only brought up when Spurs supporters reflect on how bad they were.

Yves Bissouma is a player who is unlikely to fall into either of these categories. He has never really lived up to the expectations which surrounded him three years ago, but calling him a flop would seem rather harsh.

According to the latest reports, Bissouma will switch Tottenham for Galatasaray, making the Europa League final his last ever start for the club.

Spurs supporters are divided on Bissouma as while there is a general agreement that he should be sold, some are grateful for his performances during the back end of last season. Others, however, are delighted to see him go.

Yves Bissouma has largely been underwhelming for Tottenham

Bissouma is very much a defensive midfielder. He failed to register a single goal contribution during his first two seasons at Tottenham. However, his ability to carry the ball forward under Antonio Conte got fans excited that he could be the type of player the club had been missing since the departure of Mousa Dembele.

As time went on, Bissouma looked less and less like this player and after being sent off against Luton Town early into Ange Postecoglou’s reign, he seemed to decline a lot. Inconsistency has certainly been an issue for the Malian midfielder, as while he can impress with his tackling and aggression, he has rarely had a run of consecutive solid performances.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When compared with Rodrigo Bentancur, Bissouma is usually viewed as the weaker link, and it is not just his performances on the pitch which have been problematic.

Bissouma missed the UEFA Super Cup due to disciplinary reasons and he was also suspended by Postecoglou last season for an incident involving laughing gas. If he cannot be relied on to make himself available and set an example for the younger players in the team, his days at the club were always going to be numbered.

Bissouma deserves a Spurs send off

Having said all this, Bissouma did rise to the occasion when it mattered last season.

He put in some strong displays in the Europa League knockout stages and played his part as Tottenham kept a clean sheet in the final. It is only right that Tottenham supporters wish him well as he embarks on the next chapter of his career in Turkey.

Still, Tottenham are in a good place with Joao Palhinha. He was outstanding against Manchester City and could be the more consistent pivot midfielder which Spurs have needed.

Thomas Frank would be pleased with how his early days at Tottenham Hotspur have unfolded, as he is yet to taste defeat in a competitive fixture in the Premier League since arriving in north London.

Two wins from two in the Premier League, coupled with a draw in the UEFA Super Cup final before losing out on penalties to Paris Saint-Germain, represents a strong beginning for the Dane, especially given the struggles Spurs endured last term when they finished a lowly 17th.

It is clear that this campaign will be demanding with Tottenham competing across multiple fronts, including the Carabao Cup, which proved fruitful last season as the club reached the final four of the competition.

With the tournament about to step up a gear, here is everything Spurs supporters need to know about the Carabao Cup third-round draw, including dates, ball numbers and broadcast details.

When is Tottenham’s Carabao Cup draw?

The third-round draw of the Carabao Cup will take place on the evening of Wednesday, 27 August 2025.

Sky Sports will be covering Manchester United’s second-round tie at Grimsby that evening, with an 8 pm kick-off, and the draw will follow straight after the conclusion of the match.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Carabao Cup third-round ball numbers

When will Tottenham play their Carabao Cup third-round tie?

Just as last season, the fixtures will be spread across two weeks in order to accommodate Champions League and Europa League matches.

The first round of games will be played in the week commencing 15 September 2025, while the remaining ties will take place the following week, starting 22 September 2025.

Tottenham shoot up supercomputer predicted Premier League table after Man City win - Spurs Web
Description

Two weeks can be a long time in football, and that is borne out by the predictions of Tottenham’s Opta Super Computer, which sees Spurs shoot up the Premier League table.

Coming into the season, not many neutrals and pundits considered Tottenham Hotspur as favourites to finish in the top six.

That is understandable given that the Lilywhites finished 17th last season with 22 league defeats and that a new manager had walked through the door.

In fact, just before the start of the new season, Opta’s Supercomputer predicted that Spurs would finish in 14th place, collecting an estimated 47.92 points.

Tottenham shoot up the predicted Premier League table

However, the Thomas Frank era started positively for the Lilywhites with a 3-0 win over Burnley at home, and after that result, Opta predicted that Spurs would finish 11th with 50.08 points.

Tottenham have followed that up with a statement performance against Manchester City, emerging deserved 2-0 winners.

While winning at the Etihad Stadium is not a new feeling for Spurs, the amount of defensive control they exhibited left many impressed, with the away side managing to keep Pep Guardiola’s men at arm’s length for the majority of the encounter.

MORE SPURS STORIES

That performance has seen Opta once again revise their predictions, with the SuperComputer now predicting that Tottenham will finish 8th with 55.48 points.

A crucial week of transfers is coming for Spurs

While there have been some very encouraging signs at the start of the season, there are question marks over the strength of Tottenham’s squad.

Thomas Frank has set his eyes on challenging on all four fronts, but in order to do that, the club need at least two top-class signings to arrive through the door.
