Description

Sam Allardyce says that Tottenham Hotspur are yet to answer a big question so far this season, despite the impressive start to Thomas Frank’s tenure at the club.

While Tottenham have certainly not been purring so far this season, they have been effective, grinding out results with great consistency.

The Lilywhites currently sit in third place in the Premier League table, boasting the second-best defensive record in the division.

Some pundits have questioned whether Tottenham create enough chances under Frank, but the Dane remains convinced that it is only a matter of time before his attack clicks into gear.

Sam Allardyce has a big concern about Tottenham under Thomas Frank

In what is developing into an extremely closely contested Premier League season, the jury is still out on what Tottenham should be aiming towards, but Spurs fans will be hoping that they can achieve Champions League qualification again.

Allardyce has said that he is unsure if this Spurs side contains enough goals to have lofty ambitions this campaign.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The former England manager said on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast: “I think Thomas Frank is brilliant at what he does. But you know, will they score enough goals? “Have they got enough goals? That’s probably one of the things that I’d be concerned about.”

Spurs’ situation in front of goal will improve very soon

Between Dominic Solanke, Randal Kolo Muani, Dejan Kulusevski, and James Maddison, a large number of goals have been left in the treatment table for Tottenham this season.

However, the situation is expected to improve very rapidly, with Solanke confirming that he will be back in the near future after successfully undergoing minor surgery on his ankle.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for a La Liga marksman who has set Spanish football alight at the start of the season, but the deal will not be easy to do.

Thomas Frank has been managing a tricky centre-forward situation at Spurs this season, with Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani currently out with injuries.

That has meant that Richarlison has had to endure a heavy workload while Mathys Tel has started two Premier League games so far.

It was reported by Fichajes last week that Tottenham may enter the market for another striker in January and have set their sights on a 21-year-old who has been doing special things in Spain at the start of the campaign.

Tottenham face roadblocks in pursuit of Karl Etta Eyong

The player in question is Levante’s Karl Etta Eyong, who has hit the limelight in La Liga, scoring five goals and providing three assists in eight league matches this term.

The report in Fichajes named Tottenham Hotspur as one of three Premier League clubs eyeing a move for the youngster, alongside Chelsea and Man United.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has now revealed that Barcelona have also entered the race for Eyong, but he has claimed that Villarreal have an option to buy back the striker, which potentially complicates a January sale.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked about the future of the Levante striker, O’Rourke told Football Insider: “It would be hard to do a deal in January. Four goals and three assists in seven La Liga appearances, that’s what’s brought Karl Etta Eyong onto the radar of the likes of Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United and now Barcelona as well.

“Villarreal have an option in there to buy him back as well. That complicates things as well. I don’t think Levante will be looking to lose him mid-way through the season, because they probably will need Eyong’s goals if they are to avoid relegation from La Liga.”

Could a Spurs striker be on his way out in January?

With Kolo Muani, Solanke, Richarlison and Tel at Frank’s disposal, signing a number nine is not likely to be high on the Dane’s priority list in January.

However, there is a possibility that one of those players could leave, and there have been rumours that Crystal Palace and other clubs are eyeing a move for Richarlison.

A centre-back, who has been linked heavily with a move to Tottenham Hotspur since the start of the summer, faces an uncertain future at his club.

It has been widely reported that Tottenham want to add to their stocks at centre-back in the January window, with several Premier League defenders on the Lilywhites’ radar.

Over the last few weeks, several sources have suggested that the Spurs might reignite their interest in a central defender whom they showed an interest in during the summer.

It has been alleged that Tottenham explored a move for Nathan Collins in the summer, but the Republic of Ireland international did not follow Thomas Frank to N17.

Spurs are expected to try again to land the Brentford captain in January, with the Tottenham head coach said to be keen to reunite with the 24-year-old.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has now confirmed that Spurs did signal an interest in the Bees star during the summer, while he also suggested Anfield as a possible destination for the player.

He adds that the centre-back’s future at Gtech Community Stadium is far from set in stone, with a move to a bigger club potentially on the cards next summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked about the reports linking Collins with a move to Spurs, O’Rourke told Football Insider: “They [Brentford] don’t want to lose Nathan Collins. As you said, there was a bit of interest in the summer from Tottenham. Liverpool were mentioned as well, as they were looking at a centre-back.

“If he continues to impress for Brentford and as he’s shown already at such a young age, he’s got those leadership qualities as well, being captain at the club, I’m sure there’ll be clubs monitoring the situation and maybe in the summertime there could be further interest in him.”

Brentford have already made a decision on Nathan Collins

While Spurs may be eyeing a move for the Irishman in the upcoming transfer window, they have been told to forget about signing the player mid-season.

This was according to a recent update by TEAMtalk, which claimed that Brentford have issued a strong ‘hands off’ message to Spurs regarding Collins.

Having already lost Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa in the summer, the West London club are not expected to entertain any offers for their key players in January.

Tottenham Hotspur could actually be undervalued amid £10 billion comparison - Spurs Web
Description

According to football finance expert Dan Plumley, ENIC’s valuation of Tottenham Hotspur may be considerably higher than what reports in the media suggest.

Tottenham rejected two approaches to buy the club last month following the exit of Daniel Levy as chairman.

Last week, Spurs unequivocally rejected an expression of takeover interest from American tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick.

Earick was required to announce his intention to bid before October 24, as per the UK Takeover Code. However, his consortium revealed on Monday evening that they will not be submitting a formal offer to buy Spurs.

The statement read: “Further to the announcement made by the Board of Tottenham Hotspur Limited on 26 September 2025 regarding an informal expression of interest in relation to a proposal to acquire the total issued, and to be issued, share capital of the company, Mr Brooklyn Earick confirms that he does not intend to make a firm offer for the company.”

ENIC’s valuation of Tottenham may be far higher than reported

It has been claimed by some sources that Tottenham are valued by their owners at £4.5 billion, which would represent a world-record takeover if such a deal were to go through.

However, Dan Plumley has said that the Lewis family may value the club far higher, potentially even double that amount, pointing to data that says that elite Premier League clubs may be undervalued by the market.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked about the takeover interest Tottenham have rejected, Plumley told Football Insider: “What we’re seeing here with Spurs is similar to Man United.

“Last summer, when people were talking about a full acquisition from Qatar, and the price was £5bn, or whatever we were landing on, there were strong rumours in the media that the Glazers have always seen £10bn as an exit strategy, as an example, because their perception is United is still undervalued.

“There is some truth in that for English football clubs. If they really start to drive revenues into different territories, and start to get their stadium operations right, as Spurs obviously are doing with all the other stuff that’s happened on.

“There is a potential whereby English football clubs’ valuations at that super elite level are arguably a little bit low.”

The Lewis family may be looking to sell Spurs to a specific profile of investor

It has been suggested by a couple of sources that the profile of any potential investor is also an important factor for ENIC in agreeing a deal.

According to reports, the Lewis family would be open to selling Tottenham to an NFL Franchise owner, which would make the club a bigger combination of sporting assets.

Tottenham will love what Portsmouth manager just said about Yang Min-hyeok - Spurs Web
Description

Portsmouth boss John Mousinho has made some very interesting comments about Tottenham’s Yang Min-hyeok after he scored in two games on the trot.

After a difficult start to life in the South Coast, the on-loan Tottenham Hotspur man is now getting game time, and he is showcasing just why many in South Korea are excited about his potential.

Yang netted his first goal for Portsmouth in the 2-2 draw against Watford last week with a fine volley.

Yang then converted another volley from almost exactly the same spot against Middlesbrough on Saturday, and this time, the goal was enough to earn his side all three points.

Portsmouth manager makes an admission about Tottenham youngster Yang Min-hyeok

The 19-year-old has now started the last three matches for the Championship side and has earned the praise of his manager following their 1-0 win over Boro.

Portsmouth boss John Mousinho admitted that the teenager needed to be eased into life at Fratton Park and remarked that he is getting better with each outing.

When asked about his considerations while easing the Spurs loanee into the side, Moushinho told BBC Sport: “Yeah, it’s about a number of things. I think patience first and foremost, we’ve spoken about that in the press, recognising that Min-hyeok has been in the country for less than a year, still learning the language, he’s been down in Portsmouth for eight weeks. It’s a baptism of fire when you come into the Championship.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“He had that exposure with QPR for January onwards. I’m not sure he started two games on the spin, so he’s started three games on the spin this week. He’s improved in every single one of those games. Thankfully, we’ve stuck with him, and I thought he was very, very impressive again today.”

Spurs fans are over the moon with Yang’s recent performances

There was no shortage of scepticism when the Lilywhites signed the South Korean last year, but he is now showing that he has no shortage of talent.

Some Spurs fans are very excited about Yang’s recent form for Portsmouth and are already dreaming of him making an impact at N17.

Tottenham have to battle Bayern Munich for defender despite overtaking Liverpool - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham are keen on adding a new centre-back to their roster in 2026, but Bayern Munich have entered the race for one of their top targets.

Marc Guehi has long been on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar, with their interest dating back to the winter window when the club submitted a bid for the Crystal Palace defender.

The winter offer was turned down by Palace, who made it clear they would not part ways with one of their key players midway through the campaign.

Despite the rejection, Thomas Frank’s side returned for the England international during the just-closed summer window, determined to strengthen their defensive options.

However, Guehi opted against a move to Spurs, making it clear that his preference was a transfer to Liverpool rather than a switch to north London.

The 25-year-old appeared close to securing that desired move to Anfield, yet the deal collapsed on deadline day as Palace failed to identify a suitable replacement before the window closed, forcing them to hold on to their star man.

It was reported last week that Tottenham have overtaken Liverpool in the race for Marc Guehi in what would be a shock twist ahead of the January window, but the Lilywhites have even more competition.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Bayern Munich and Tottenham circle Marc Guehi

Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport now reports that Bayern Munich have taken concrete steps in their pursuit of Marc Guehi.

It is believed that Sporting director Max Eberl is said to be a huge admirer of the player, and initial discussions have already taken place with his representatives regarding a potential move.

According to Plettenberg, Bayern are considering signing the defender on a free transfer in 2026, though that may depend on what happens with Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae.

The German champions are understood to be closely monitoring Guehi’s situation as his contract continues to run down.

Plettenberg shared on X: “Bayern are already looking concretely at Marc Guehi. Max Eberl is a big admirer, and initial talks with the player’s representatives have already taken place. Bayern are interested in a free transfer in 2026, but that depends on what happens with Upamecano and Kim. There is competition as Liverpool and Barcelona are seriously involved, and Real Madrid are also in the race.”

Spurs face tough competition for Guehi

Marc Guehi has been in outstanding form for Crystal Palace this season, contributing a goal and helping his side keep five clean sheets across all competitions.

His consistency and composure at the back have only enhanced his reputation, making him one of the Premier League’s most sought-after defenders.

With his contract due to expire next summer, the prospect of signing Guehi on a free has drawn significant attention from several top clubs, which could make Tottenham’s pursuit increasingly difficult.

Description

Luka Vuskovic continues his impressive loan move away from Tottenham by picking up an exciting award after just four games.

Luka Vuskovic secured a loan move from Tottenham Hotspur to newly promoted Bundesliga side Hamburg, and he has started settling into life in Germany with confidence and composure.

The Tottenham loanee did not have the easiest of starts in the German top flight, with his debut coming against Harry Kane and his Bayern Munich teammates.

Bayern were ruthless that day, putting five past Hamburg and giving the 18-year-old an early taste of how unforgiving life in the Bundesliga can be for newly promoted sides.

Tottenham’s Luka Vuskovic earns Bundesliga Rookie of the Month

Luka Vuskovic has since bounced back following the defeat against Bayern Munich and has now been named Bundesliga Rookie of the Month, marking a major personal milestone in what is shaping up to be a defining loan spell.

That blip against the German champions did not dent Vuskovic’s confidence, as the young defender helped his side to their first win in the top flight in their next league fixture, grabbing Hamburg’s opening goal since their return to the Bundesliga.

It was a well-taken strike in a 2-1 victory over FC Heidenheim, a result that seemed to spark belief throughout the team.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Since that win, Hamburg have gone on to keep two clean sheets and now sit ninth in the league table, showing steady improvement in both attack and defence.

Tottenham will be watching Vuskovic’s progress closely

Vuskovic is a young centre-back with huge potential, and Tottenham will be hoping he continues to develop and live up to expectations.

His early performances in the Bundesliga have shown that he is capable of handling the physical and tactical demands of top-level football, and if he maintains this level of form, he could soon be pushing for a place in the Tottenham first team.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are one step closer to a Premier League record that involves 43 different nations from around the world.

Tottenham Hotspur got back to winning ways after back-to-back draws in their two Premier League fixtures before their trip to Elland Road in matchweek seven.

Goals from Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus proved enough on the afternoon for Spurs, who secured a 2-1 win over the newly promoted side.

It was a fixture that saw two new faces get off the mark for Tottenham and, in the process, a major milestone was reached for the club.

Mohammed Kudus adds Ghana to Tottenham’s Premier League goalscoring nations

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Mohammed Kudus’s match-winner against Leeds on Saturday saw the number of different nationalities to score for the Lilywhites in the Premier League rise to 43.

Kudus also became the first Ghanaian to score for Spurs in the Premier League, and the 11th African player to do so since the competition began in 1992.

He is now Tottenham’s 179th different Premier League goalscorer – the highest number recorded by any club in the division.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Ghanaian’s strike also marked the newest nationality to contribute a Premier League goal for Tottenham since 2023, when Senegal’s Pape Matar Sarr scored in a 2-0 win over Manchester United in August that year.

Only Fulham have had more nationalities represented from goalscorers, although Opta have the stats down as 45 to Tottenham and 47 to the Cottagers.

Tottenham’s international goalscoring legacy

Tottenham have had numerous goal scorers from around the world over the years, but England leads the way with 881 goals from 65 different players.

South Korea, Wales, the Republic of Ireland, and Brazil complete the top five nations to have contributed the most goals for Spurs in Premier League history.

Below is a full breakdown of all the countries to have produced a Premier League goalscorer for Tottenham Hotspur:

The Dane still has injured stars that he would expect to make a return after this break, but he would also be keen for his fit players not to pick up any more injuries.

Tottenham stars called up for October internationals

With a two-week break from club football, over 30 Tottenham Hotspur players have travelled to represent their respective nations both at senior and youth level, with some featuring in friendlies and others in World Cup qualifiers.

Dominic Solanke, Randal Kolo Muani and Dejan Kulusevski Tottenham injury return timelines - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s injury woes continue as Thomas Frank waits on key stars to return after the international break.

Tottenham Hotspur have suffered just one defeat all season, a testament to Thomas Frank’s quick adaptation and the collective spirit within the team.

Their recent 2-1 victory away to Leeds United once again showcased that resolve, even as the manager was forced to make do without a host of key players.

That win came with Dominic Solanke, Dejan Kulusevski, Kota Takai, James Maddison, Yves Bissouma, Randal Kolo Muani, and Radu Dragusin all unavailable for selection, leaving Frank to piece together a side capable of grinding out results.

Tottenham await key players’ return after international break

With the international break now underway, The Standard has provided an update on the status of Tottenham’s injured players, suggesting that as many as four could be in contention to return once the break concludes.

Dominic Solanke has been managing a recurring ankle injury that has troubled him for months, with his last appearance coming in the 2-0 win over Manchester City on 23 August.

Although a brief return to training raised hopes of a swift comeback, the issue persisted, leading to minor surgery. Thomas Frank has not provided a specific timeline for Solanke’s return, noting that more clarity will come after the international period, leaving his potential return date unknown.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Still on the theme of forwards, Randal Kolo Muani’s absence has further depleted Tottenham’s attacking options. The on-loan man has only featured once so far, coming off the bench in the Champions League win over Villarreal.

The French forward has been sidelined by a dead leg that has taken longer than expected to heal, missing five straight matches.

He resumed light training before the Leeds game and, having not been called up by France for their upcoming qualifiers, he should be available for selection against Aston Villa after the break, leaving him with a potential return date of Sunday 19 October, vs Aston Villa (H).

Yves Bissouma has not played for Tottenham since May and has been out with a knee injury following disciplinary issues that saw him miss the UEFA Super Cup clash with PSG in August.

Frank revealed last month that Bissouma had only just begun running outdoors and had yet to return to group training, indicating that his comeback remains some way off.

Dejan Kulusevski, Kota Takai, James Maddison and Radu Dragusin updates

Dejan Kulusevski remains sidelined after undergoing patella surgery before the Europa League final in May, but Thomas Frank has offered optimism, saying the Swede has a “good chance” of returning before the end of 2025, which means Spurs fans could see him sometime in November/December.

Kota Takai has yet to debut for Tottenham since joining from Kawasaki Frontale in June, but has returned to full training after recovering from a plantar fascia injury. He could feature after the international break if his progress continues.

Radu Dragusin has resumed full training after an ACL injury and could also be in contention to make the squad later this month, with a return after the international break not to be ruled out.

James Maddison faces a lengthy spell out after rupturing his ACL during pre-season against Newcastle, with the midfielder not expected back until summer 2026.

Frank will be hopeful the international break allows several of his sidelined players the time needed to recover, as Tottenham look to maintain momentum in the weeks ahead.
