Description

Tottenham Hotspur have already begun contract talks with another senior player after handing out extensions to Cristian Romero and Djed Spence.

While Tottenham are yet to officially sign anyone since securing Joao Palhinha on loan nearly three weeks ago, the last few days have been busy for Spurs in terms of tying down their existing stars.

Djed Spence has signed a new four-year contract, less than a year on from his last new deal, while new club captain Cristian Romero has also put pen to paper on an extension.

It has now emerged that another senior Spurs man, who is in the final year of his contract, may soon also be in line to get a new deal at the start of the Thomas Frank era.

Talks have begun over a new deal for Spurs midfielder

Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe has now revealed on the Last Word on Spurs podcast that Bentancur is next in line for an extension.

O’Keefe reveals that Thomas Frank is a big fan of the Uruguayan and that the wheels are already in motion over a new deal for the 28-year-old.

The same information has been backed by TBR Football, who say that Frank has been impressed by what he has seen of Bentancur so far and hopes that the midfielder renews his contract.

Tottenham have rejected an offer for Rodrigo Bentancur

It was reported earlier this week by a Turkish outlet that Fenerbache launched an offer of €15m (£13m) for Bentancur.

The report suggested that the bid was not enough to clinch the deal, alleging that Spurs were willing to sell the experienced midfielder for €25m (£21.6m).

However, these contract updates, along with the fact that Bentancur has been heavily involved so far this season, serve as confirmation that the former Juventus man will stay put at N17.

Tottenham plot move for 23-year-old Frenchman in case they miss out on Savinho

Tottenham plot move for 23-year-old Frenchman in case they miss out on Savinho - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have turned their attention to a Monaco attacker after their efforts to bring Savinho to North London failed.

Transfer deadline day is fewer than two weeks away and Tottenham Hotspur are looking to finalise some deals. A recent report refuted claims that Tottenham agreed a deal to sign Eberechi Eze. However, it feels like a matter of time before the move will take place.

This resolves the lack of attacking midfield depth in the Tottenham first-team squad, but there is still a shortage of quality left-wingers.

Brennan Johnson played in the position against Burnley and he managed to get on the scoresheet, but Thomas Frank will ideally want someone more suited to the role.

Spurs were hoping to land Savinho from Manchester City, but Pep Guardiola closed the door on him joining Tottenham. As a result, the North London club are considering alternative options.

Tottenham identify Maghnes Akliouche as Savinho alternative

Tottenham only have so much time to complete any further signings, so identifying new players must be done swiftly. According to the Independent, Spurs are looking at Maghnes Akliouche as a Savinho alternative.

The 23-year-old plays for AS Monaco and helped them to a third-place finish in Ligue 1 last season. He totalled five goals and 10 assists in 32 league appearances and also bagged two goals and two assists in the Champions League.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Akilouche has started the new season as he means to go on, getting a goal in Monaco’s first match of the season, which resulted in a 3-1 victory over Le Havre.

Maghnes Akilouche is not a natural left winger either

Like Johnson, Akilouche is less familiar with playing on the left wing. He is usually selected on the right or as an attacking midfielder. He could well be used in those positions in the future, but for now, he is likely to start on the left, should he make the move to North London.

Akilouche is left-footed, so while shooting may come less favourably, he should still be effective at what he does best, which is creating chances for his teammates.

What Savinho has been told by Man City about Tottenham Hotspur transfer - Spurs Web
Description

Amidst suggestions that Pep Guardiola has pulled the plug on the sale of Savinho to Tottenham, a new report has revealed what Manchester City have told the winger about a potential transfer.

Tottenham fans would be delighted with the news that Spurs have reached an agreement with Crystal Palace over Eberechi Eze.

However, those who were dreaming of a potential Eze-Savinho link-up at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season look likely to be disappointed.

This is because it has been reported over the last 24 hours that Man City have decided against cashing in on Savinho despite initially contemplating it.

It has been reported by some sources that Pep Guardiola has decided that he cannot lose Savinho, even though the player wants to make the move to N17 and Tottenham are willing to spend a club-record fee on the 21-year-old.

Journalist Greame Bailey has now backed up that claim, insisting that Guardiola is the one who intervened to stop the deal despite the City hierarchy’s willingness to sell.

He alleged that the Manchester club have now informed the former Girona man that a move to Spurs is completely out of the question this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Bailey told TBR Football: “Savinho has been informed that the deal is a non-starter. I believe it was possible, but with just a few weeks left, it is not ideal.

“Also, as we reported, Pep Guardiola did not want to lose him, and I am told that was key. The hierarchy were open to a deal, but they wouldn’t simply go against Guardiola.”

Why the Savinho development is very surprising

It has been widely reported that Savinho is very keen on joining Tottenham as he wants to play regularly ahead of next year’s World Cup.

It has been reported by several sources, including David Ornstein, that Guardiola does not stand in the way of players who want to leave City.

Description

Two Tottenham Hotspur players have made it to Troy Deeney’s Premier League Team of the Week after their starring roles in the 3-0 victory over Burnley.

Tottenham Hotspur kicked off their 2025/26 Premier League campaign with a 3-0 win over Burnley at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It was Thomas Frank’s first league game in charge of Spurs and came just two days after the narrow Super Cup defeat to Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain.

There were no signs of fatigue though, as Richarlison opened the scoring after just ten minutes, finishing off a perfect cross from debutant Mohammed Kudus. The Brazilian forward then doubled Tottenham’s lead with a stunning scissor kick, again assisted by Kudus, before Brennan Johnson sealed the win later in the second half.

The Tottenham front line was a delight to watch, drawing praise from Harry Redknapp, Burnley boss Scott Parker and of course Frank himself.

Tottenham duo Richarlison and Mohammed Kudus win Troy Deeney’s praise

Following their impressive displays, both Richarlison and Mohammed Kudus were named in Deeney’s XI. Writing in his BBC Sport column, the former Watford striker explained why he opted for Richarlison ahead of other strikers who also scored braces at the weekend.

“In the middle I could have gone for Wood (Nottingham Forest) but chose not to, and I could have gone for Haaland (Manchester City) but I chose not to. I chose to go with Richarlison at Tottenham.

“He has had a really tough start with injuries, but Thomas Frank decided to start with him over Dominic Solanke and Richarlison repaid him with two wonderful goals. Really good link-up play, great running in behind. It’s a World Cup year and that could be the catalyst for him to really kick on.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Kudus also caught Deeney’s eye on his first league outing in a Spurs shirt. He wrote: “Up front, Kudus was excellent for Spurs on that right side. He just looks like he had a new lease of life. He has gone into a Spurs team that needs him to play well and he looks like he will grow exceptionally with this team.”

Troy Deeney’s changing stance on Richarlison

What makes Deeney’s recognition all the more interesting is that he has not always spoken highly about Richarlison. Having played alongside him at Watford for one season, Deeney praised the forward’s warrior-like mentality back then, recalling how he once went 18 months without a proper break. But he has also been vocal about his concerns since the Brazilian’s move to north London.

Six months ago, Deeney suggested that Richarlison had gone soft at Spurs, pointing to his repeated injuries, the club’s world-class facilities and what he felt was a “comfortable culture.”

The striker later even went on to warn Everton against re-signing Richarlison this summer, claiming that the hunger he once showed at Watford and Everton had faded.

The major concern surrounding Richarlison has undoubtedly been his fitness. Since arriving at Tottenham, he has spent 377 days sidelined through injury since joining Spurs, missing 58 matches in total.

When available, however, the Brazilian has consistently delivered. During last season’s Europa League triumph, he was often asked to operate in unfamiliar positions but still produced decisive moments when the team needed him most.

If Tottenham can manage his fitness more effectively, Richarlison has the ability to establish himself as one of the most competitive number nines in European football.

Tottenham could face threat of Eberechi Eze hijack after Arsenal transfer update

Tottenham could face threat of Eberechi Eze hijack after Arsenal transfer update - Spurs Web
Description

It has now been revealed by David Ornstein that Arsenal are keen to reinforce their attack following a latest injury development, and it comes at a bad time for Tottenham, who continue to work on getting Eberechi Eze’s signing over the line.

Earlier in the summer, it was reported that Eze favoured a move to Arsenal over Tottenham, but thankfully for the Lilywhites, the Gunners never challenged Spurs in the race for the Palace star.

It was reported by several sources that Arsenal decided against pursuing Eze as they prioritised adding a left-winger to their squad over a number ten.

That has allowed their rivals to step up their pursuit of the 27-year-old, with Spurs now on the verge of sealing Eze’s signing, but a big development at the Emirates could potentially put Tottenham’s deal under threat.

Arsenal looking to bolster their attack after latest injury blow

According to various sources, including Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham still have some minor details to sort out in the Eze deal, with the club yet to reach a full agreement with Crystal Palace.

Worryingly for Tottenham, The Athletic’s David Ornstein has now revealed that bolstering their attack has suddenly become a priority for Mikel Arteta’s men.

This is because Kai Havertz has now picked up a knee injury and is expected to have a sustained spell on the sidelines. This has forced the Gunners to look for reinforcements to their attack in the final week and a half of the transfer window.

MORE SPURS STORIES

While Ornstein has not mentioned Eze as an option for Arsenal, given the club’s previous interest in the England international, Tottenham Hotspur may fear that their local rivals may be plotting a hijack.

Tottenham fans should be optimistic about Eberechi Eze deal

Various sources have continued to indicate that Tottenham are confident of getting the Eze deal over the line. It has been widely reported that Eze is now extremely keen on moving to N17.

Even if Arsenal suddenly re-enter the race for the 27-year-old, he will know that Thomas Frank’s men were much keener on him while Arteta’s side failed to bid for him and are only turning to him as an emergency option.

The former QPR man’s mind would have likely been made up about a move to Tottenham, but Spurs fans will want Daniel Levy to hurry and wrap up a deal swiftly.

Manchester United owners launch counter-sue against Tottenham, and it relates to Harry Kane - Spurs Web
Description

In a response to Tottenham Hotspur’s legal action against them, Manchester United owners INEOS have now counter-sued the North London club, accusing them of holding sponsorship talks with Audi, linked with Harry Kane’s sale to Bayern Munich in 2023.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS, who own 25 per cent of Man United, announced a multi-million-pound, five-year deal with Spurs in December 2022 to promote INEOS Grenadier car as the club’s ‘official 4×4 vehicle partner’.

However, it emerged earlier this year that talks were underway to end the sponsorship deal between Spurs and INEOS two years before it runs out, with the United owners having to undertake major cost-cutting measures due to financial pressures.

Subsequently, Tottenham took High Court legal action on June 12 against INEOS, and now, the multinational conglomerate has responded by suing the Lilywhites.

INEOS allege Tottenham illegally began negotiations with Audi

The Telegraph have now confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur are seeking a minimum of £5,275,974 in damages from INEOS for ending the deal prematurely.

However, in defence, INEOS have now launched a counter-claim to the High Court, claiming that Tottenham had started negotiating with a competitor for rights that were exclusive to them under their agreement.

Their counter-claim reads: “The particulars of claim make no mention of a highly significant series of events by which the club, unbeknownst to Ineos, started negotiating with a major competitor to Ineos with the intention of granting rights to that competitor which were exclusive to Ineos under the agreement.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“On or around 3 August 2023 (i.e. early in contract year two), Todd Kline of the club (“Mr Kline”) indicated to Ashley Reed of Ineos (‘Mr Reed’) that the club had been in discussions with the German car manufacturer Audi AG (‘Audi’) in connection with rights which were the same as, or substantially similar to, the rights granted to Ineos under the agreement and/or the club had been negotiating with Audi in respect of rights which were exclusive to Ineos under clause 4 of the agreement. According to Mr Kline, the discussions and/or negotiations related to a proposed transfer of the club’s player Harry Kane (‘Mr Kane’) to the German club FC Bayern Munich (‘Bayern Munich’).”

INEOS claim Tottenham owe them £1m

According to The Telegraph, INOES’ defence went on to state that even though Spurs’ commercial partnership with Audi did not materialise, it was after the club had begun discussions with the German automotive manufacturer that the parties had agreed to terminate their deal.

It added: “In the circumstances, it is the club which owes INEOS more than £1 million for failing to provide any rights to Ineos in the final part of year three.”

The publication also backs up what we have heard previously by revealing that INEOS maintain that they had a contractual right to terminate their partnership contract with Spurs in December 2024, which they exercised.

Oliver Glasner makes big Eberechi Eze reveal that Tottenham fans will not enjoy

Oliver Glasner makes big Eberechi Eze reveal that Tottenham fans will not enjoy - Spurs Web
Description

Oliver Glasner has made a confident statement about Eberechi Eze’s participation in Crystal Palace’s first-ever European clash amidst heavy speculation linking him with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

On Tuesday morning, several sources reported that Tottenham had reached an agreement with Crystal Palace over the transfer of Eze.

However, since then, some outlets have suggested that reports of Eze being on his way to N17 may be premature, with work still left to be done on the deal.

This includes Fabrizio Romano, who has said that Tottenham and Palace still have to iron out small details on the payment terms for Eze.

Eberechi Eze will play for Crystal Palace on Thursday despite Tottenham rumours

Eze looked emotional when he applauded the Palace fans at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and some saw that as evidence that the attacking midfielder had played his final game for the club.

However, in his post-match press conference, Glasner said that he expects Eze to play the Europa Conference League clash on Thursday.

The Austrian has now reiterated the same three days on, claiming that the Tottenham Hotspur target will feature for his side against Fredrikstad tomorrow.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked about the futures of Eze and Marc Guehi, Glasner responded (via Ed Aarons): “Most of you will be surprised that they will start again tomorrow because of all the rumours. But they are committed here, and they will play a crucial part.”

One factor could be holding up Eze’s transfer to Spurs

Reports continue to indicate that Tottenham are confident of securing a deal for Eze, but Spurs fans will wonder what the hold-up is.

That might be down to the South London club rather than the Lilywhites, with some sources claiming that the Eagles want to bring a replacement through the door before finalising the Eze deal.

It was even claimed by The Sun on Tuesday that Tottenham would pay a significant chunk of the Eze fee upfront so that Palace can secure a replacement.

We may thus have to wait until Glasner’s men get an attacking midfielder through the door before the former QPR man is announced as a Spurs player.

Tottenham’s Mathys Tel breaks his silence with strong message after disgusting racist abuse - Spurs Web
Description

Mathys Tel has opened up on how he felt after being targeted with racial abuse last week, and has thanked the Tottenham fans for the way they have come to his support.

The Frenchman was one of two Tottenham players to fail to convert their spotkick during the penalty shootout in the UEFA Super Cup clash against PSG.

The forward was inexplicably targeted with racist abuse after his miss, and the Spurs players came out in support of Tel after the ugly incident.

The club also immediately released a strongly worded statement condemning those who targeted the 20-year-old with racist abuse.

Mathys Tel thanks Tottenham fans for their support

The Tottenham fans responded classily by making Tel feel loved during the club’s 3-0 win over Burnley at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

The 20-year-old was welcomed onto the pitch with loud applause when he replaced Mohammed Kudus in the 85th minute. There were chants of ‘there is only one Matty Tel’ from the South Stand, with Thomas Frank himself joining in the applause.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tel has now thanked the fans for their support and insisted that the abhorrent abuse aimed at him will not bring him down.

The forward wrote: “After the last a few days have passed, I wanted to thank you for all your messages of support! I was also disappointed about Wednesday night, but racism has no place in our society.

“Every day is a learning curve, and every day is a lesson. I know where I come from, where I started and none of this will bring me down. With work and humility, respect reigns. Thank you all.”

Racism has no place in modern society, and it is up to us as fans to do all we can to stamp it out.

If someone abused players racially at a stadium, they would immediately be identified by others and charged for their behaviour.

However, with the anonymity that social media offers, these racist trolls feel emboldened to throw abuse at players without fear of repercussions.

Given the kind of abuse different Tottenham players have received on social media over recent years, one wonders if it will be better for their mental health to come off these platforms.

Fabrizio Romano reveals one person is blocking Savinho’s move to Tottenham

Fabrizio Romano reveals one person is blocking Savinho’s move to Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

Fabrizio Romano has revealed what he has heard from his sources about why Manchester City suddenly appear to have changed their stance on selling Savinho to Tottenham Hotspur.

Most Spurs fans were dreaming of an Eberechi Eze-Mohammed Kudus-Savinho linkup at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.

For some, that appeared too good to be true, and it looks like their suspicions might be correct, as we are now hearing that Man City have decided against selling Savinho to Spurs.

It was revealed by talkSPORT on Tuesday that Pep Guardiola had decided that he does not want to lose Savinho, even though the Lilywhites are prepared to pay a club-record fee for the 21-year-old.

Man City official is blocking Savinho’s move to Tottenham

There are perhaps very few journalists in world football with connections to as many agents and clubs as Fabrizio Romano, and he has now revealed something very interesting about Savinho.

The Italian confirms that the former Girona man remains keen on being part of the Thomas Frank project at Spurs and claims that one senior figure at Man City is currently stopping the deal from going through.

Romano said on his YoutTube channel: “As of today, there is someone specific, very important, at Manchester City blocking the deal for Savinho to Tottenham. The player is keen on a move to Tottenham, but the player is not breaking his relationship with Manchester City.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“So the player is kind of positioned like, okay, if I can go to Tottenham, I’m happy, because Thomas Frank wants to make him one of the faces of the project, because he could play on a regular basis. So, Savinho would like to go to Tottenham.”

Should Spurs turn their attention to alternatives or keep their powder dry?

It has been suggested that Tottenham could turn to Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche if they miss out on Savinho.

However, it is clear that Spurs are prioritising signing players with Premier League experience this summer, and Frank has made it clear that he is happy with the squad he has.

If Tottenham cannot get Savinho this summer, one wonders if they may decide to keep their powder dry and go for the Brazilian again in January rather than spending on a winger who doesn’t necessarily elevate the squad.

Man City could still sell Savinho to Tottenham but only under one condition - Spurs Web
Description

The prospect of Savinho ending up at Tottenham Hotspur this summer is still far from over, with a new report shedding light on Manchester City’s stance on the winger and what it would take to get a deal done.

Much to the disappointment of Spurs fans, it has been reported over the last couple of days that Man City have decided against selling Savinho.

According to some sources, even though Tottenham are ready to pay a club-record fee for the winger, and the player wants to move to N17, Pep Guardiola has decided he cannot lose Savinho this summer.

However, a new report has now revealed that this change in stance might just be a negotiating tactic by City and that Spurs have not abandoned their pursuit of the 21-year-old just yet.

Man City open to selling Savinho to Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester Evening News have now rubbished suggestions that the former Girona man will not be sold this summer.

The outlet claims that every player in the City squad is for sale at the right fee, and Savinho is no exception to that.

The report asserts that if the right kind of offer arrives from Tottenham and if the winger wants to make the move, the deal will happen.

MORE SPURS STORIES

They confirm that Spurs have indeed approached the Etihad hierarchy over a deal for Savinho, and they continue to remain interested in the player.

However, it is pointed out that City decision-makers still have a sour taste in their mouth about the Cole Palmer deal, and will thus be insistent on getting top dollar for Savinho to minimise any damage should the attacker explode at Spurs.

Savinho deal will not be done before Saturday

MEN also say that the fact that Tottenham Hotspur travel to the Etihad this Saturday is another sticking point in the deal, which cannot happen before the game.

The last thing Guardiola’s men want is for the winger to shrug off his ‘mystery injury’ and score against them this weekend.

Even though Savinho wants the move to Tottenham, he has not burned his bridges at City, and could easily be reintegrated back into the squad.

As a result, the Manchester club have all the leverage in the negotiations, and it would take an ‘astronomical’ offer from Spurs to prise the Brazil international away.
