Description

Will Lankshear has made an impressive start to his loan spell at Oxford United, with the Tottenham academy graduate finding the back of the net on Sunday in their Championship clash away at Hull City.

Lanskhear has an exceptional record in youth football for Spurs, and he made his mark in the first-team last season, scoring his first senior goal for the club in their Europa League clash at Galatasaray.

However, the centre-forward struggled to make his mark on loan at West Brom last season, failing to find the back of the net in 13 appearances for the Baggies.

Lankshear’s loan spell at Oxford this season is thus crucial to his prospects of breaking through at Tottenham, and the youngster will be keen to catch the eye of the decision-makers at Hotspur Way.

The youngster has made a much better start to his time at the Kassam Stadium, finding the back of the net in Oxford’s away trip to Hull.

After the Tigers took the lead in the 2nd minute, Lankshear levelled the scores seven minutes later. The ball dropped kindly to the Tottenham Hotspur man, who volleyed the ball home from around 10 yards out, showcasing his goalscoring instinct.

However, the evening ended in disappointment for Lankshear and Oxford, who fell to a 3-2 loss, owing to a stoppage-time winner from Ollie McBurnie.

Could Spurs have their next Harry Kane or Jermaine Defoe?

The young striker is a boyhood Tottenham fan and has admitted that he is keen to follow in the footsteps of the great strikers who have graced the pitch at N17 over recent decades.

Lankshear has admitted that he takes inspiration from the likes of Harry Kane and Jermaine Defoe, but emulating their achievement at the club is easier said than done.

The young striker has to impress in the Championship this season if he wants to convince Thomas Frank and his coaching staff that he potentially has a future at Spurs.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham’s chances of signing Piero Hincapie this summer - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in signing Piero Hincapie, but the latest update on the proposed move leaves little to be hopeful about.

Not long ago, it looked like Tottenham Hotspur could be done with defensive signings this summer. Koto Takai was added to the Tottenham first-team squad and many were hopeful that Luka Vuskovic would avoid another loan move.

To add to this, Spurs have been focused on adding attacking depth to their squad. From the signings of Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus, to their unsuccessful pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White, it is clear where Thomas Frank believes his team must strengthen.

However, a few days ago, it was reported that Tottenham were targeting Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie. The 23-year-old has experience playing as both a centre-back and a left-back, so he would be useful to a manager like Frank, who has already implemented two different formations, based on Tottenham’s opponents.

Tottenham suffer a blow in their attempts to sign Piero Hincapie

Piero Hincapie has a £51m release clause, but Tottenham are likely to prefer a negotiated deal, considering the money that has already been spent.

However, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Hincapie is not for sale. The Ecuadorian is a key part of the Bayer Leverkusen project and Erik Ten Hag sees him as a crucial player.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This may not come as a surprise to Tottenham, because Bayer Leverkusen already told Tottenham they would not listen to offers for Hincapie.

Liverpool and Chelsea also enquired about the defender, while Atletico Madrid were unsuccessful in signing him as an alternative to Cristian Romero, after failing to pay his release clause.

Hincapie would be a necessary addition to Spurs

While there are obvious attacking needs in Tottenham’s squad, the defence ought not be ignored, particularly after last season. There are plenty of options in the right centre-back position, but Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies are their only left-footed central defenders.

The argument could be made that Luka Vuskovic can play on the left side too, but Hamburg could sign Vuskovic on loan. If van de Ven gets injured, having to play Davies would not be ideal. As loyal as the Welshman has been to Spurs, he does not possess the qualities of a top Premier League player.

There is also the fact that Frank may sometimes opt to play a back three. This means another defensive signing would be of great importance and the Bundesliga winner is certainly a great option.

Now it is about whether Tottenham are willing to pay his release clause, but also if the player himself is willing to accept the move.

Tottenham receive frustrating update on Savinho as Man City take firm transfer stance

Tottenham receive frustrating update on Savinho as Man City take firm transfer stance - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to wrap up a deal for Manchester City winger Savinho, but a frustrating twist has just been revealed.

There is one obvious weakness in the Tottenham first-team squad. This became all the more clear against Burnley, as Brennan Johnson had to play out of position, as a left winger. In fairness to the Wales international, he got on the scoresheet in the second half, but playing him on the left is still not ideal.

Spurs have already signed a left winger this summer in Mathys Tel. However, he had been on loan since January, so Spurs are technically no stronger in that position than last season. On top of this, Heung-min Son moved to LAFC, while Spurs opted not to sign Timo Werner on a permanent deal.

It looked as though Spurs would secure another attacking player to operate on the left flank and Savinho emerged as the top candidate. It was recently reported that Manchester City have told Pep Guardiola the club should cash in on Savinho. The Brazilian wants the move and he is not a nailed-on starter.

Savinho may no longer be allowed to leave Manchester City

The news that Man City were open to the prospect of offloading Savinho now appears to have been contradicted by one of the biggest football journalists out there.

Guillem Balague has claimed that City have decided Savinho is no longer for sale. This means Pep Guardiola’s men will not sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid, another player to have been linked with Tottenham this summer. The reason is that the LaLiga outfit were only likely to receive a bid if Savinho joined Spurs.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Manchester City hold the power in negotiations because Savinho was only signed last summer. The 21-year-old still has four years remaining on his contract, so even if he were to push for a move, his team have little reason to give in to his demands.

How would Tottenham mitigate failing to sign Savinho?

The obvious option for Spurs if Savinho remains in Manchester is to turn their attention to another left winger. However, the transfer window is almost over and securing a player of the required quality may not be so easy.

Eberechi Eze could join Tottenham and if he does, he has the capabilities to play on the left. Spurs could then look to play Dejan Kulusevski through the middle when he eventually returns from his injury. In the meantime, Pape Matar Sarr or Lucas Bergvall could start in the more attacking role.

Another solution is to change formation to adapt to the club’s needs. This could include having a strike partnership between the in-form Richarlison and Dominic Solanke. However, with Spurs competing in four competitions, this could leave them short in depth in the centre-forward position.

Eberechi Eze’s transfer to Tottenham now ‘imminent’ after journalist reveals latest news

Eberechi Eze’s transfer to Tottenham now ‘imminent’ after journalist reveals latest news - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans may not have to wait much longer to welcome Eberechi Eze to North London, according to one journalist.

Eberechi Eze’s proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur is the hottest transfer story in town. Yesterday, Fabio Paratici was spotted at Crystal Palace’s Premier League clash against Chelsea, where Eze had a goal chalked off by the referee.

Following the final whistle of the match, Eze shared an emotional moment with the Crystal Palace supporters, taking time to clap and pray in front of them. While unconfirmed, some have seen this as his goodbye to the club where he has spent the past five years of his career.

The likelihood of his departure looks to have continued, as Crystal Palace have already placed an offer for Christos Tzolis, who would be signed as Eze’s replacement. However, Palace manager Oliver Glasner has said he expects Eze to play on Thursday in their Conference League qualifier.

Eberechi Eze’s Tottenham move could be imminent

Despite Glasner’s comments, journalist Sacha Tavolieri has claimed Tottenham and Crystal Palace are close to agreeing on a deal for the transfer of Eze. He will cost Spurs £60m, making him their most expensive signing so far this summer.

Eze’s move to Tottenham has been described as ‘imminent’ and that he has never been closer to joining Spurs. Apparently, the England international initially threatened to refuse to play against Chelsea, but this was resolved after a meeting on Sunday morning with his manager.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Palace chairman Steve Parish has informed Eze that he will not delay his move to Tottenham if the club’s terms are met, with advanced negotiations currently taking place.

The attacking midfielder has already agreed terms with Spurs and will sign a deal keeping him at the club until 2030, provided the move goes through.

The same report claims that Palace are in advanced talks with Leicester City over signing Bilal El Khannouss as Eze’s replacement.

Which other players are Spurs interested in signing?

Tottenham could still break their record for most money spent in a single transfer window. As well as Eze, Tottenham are in a strong position to sign Savinho from Manchester City. The winger would likely cost more than Eze, as Spurs have already had a £60m offer rejected.

Tottenham could look to strengthen in defence as well, with a move for Piero Hincapie remaining a possibility. The centre-back has a £51m release clause, but he has no desire to leave Bayer Leverkusen.

Description

Tottenham insider, Paul O’Keefe, who regularly breaks news regarding the developments at Hotspur Way, has just made a big statement on Eberechi Eze’s future, which Spurs fans will be delighted by.

While there has been no shortage of rumours linking the attacking midfielder with a move to Spurs over recent days, perhaps the biggest sign that a deal is likely to go through came following Crystal Palace’s 0-0 draw against Chelsea on Sunday.

Eze looked emotional as he thanked the Palace fans in the away section after the final whistle, which appeared to be a clear sign that the 27-year-old believes that was his last game in an Eagles shirt.

According to reports, Eze has already told his England teammates that he will be joining Tottenham.

Paul O’Keeve reveals what he has heard about Eberechi Eze’s move to Tottenham

Over the last couple of days, it has been widely reported that Spurs are confident of getting a deal for Eze over the line.

Now, Paul O’Keefe has revealed that every single one of his contacts within the game expects the former QPR man to end up at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

O Keefe said on The Last Word on Spurs podcast: “Everybody in the game I’ve spoken to says Eberechi Eze will be a Tottenham Hotspur player.”

Spurs fans will still be wary of getting excited about the Eze deal

All signs now point to the England international ending up at Tottenham, not least the fact that Palace are already bidding for potential Eze replacements.

However, Morgan Gibbs-White’s move to Tottenham was also considered a certainty earlier this summer, and we all know how that one turned out, albeit under strange circumstances.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed how much Tottenham Hotspur are willing to pay for Eberechi Eze as the North London club make fresh contact with Crystal Palace today.

It has been reported that the next 48 hours are going to be crucial in Tottenham’s pursuit of Eze, with the Lilywhites expected to step up talks.

The 27-year-old did feature for Palace in their 0-0 draw against Chelsea on Sunday, and following the final whistle, Eze appeared to be emotional as he applauded the Palace fans in the away end.

Many interpreted that as a sign that the attacking midfielder has played his final game for the Eagles, with sources indicating that Tottenham are confident of getting a deal for Eze over the line.

Daniel Levy is currently in talks with Steve Parish

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Levy has made fresh contact with Palace chairman Steve Parish today over a deal for the England international.

The journalist reveals that Tottenham Hotspur are willing to offer a guaranteed fee of £55m plus £5m in add-ons for Eberechi Eze.

Romano reiterates that the attacking midfielder has already informed the Selhurst Park hierarchy of his desire to move to N17.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are determined to complete a deal to sign Eberechi Eze, but Crystal Palace have made their stance clear.

Tottenham Hotspur supporters are following the Eberechi Eze transfer story with fear and dread. Every time a positive news story emerges which seems to suggest Eze is set for a move north of the River Thames, another one drops which indicates the exact opposite.

There have been a few reasons recently to believe Eze could finally be close to joining Spurs. After Crystal Palace’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea, Eze shared an emotional moment with the supporters, which could have been his way of bidding them farewell.

Eze has already told his teammates he expects his move to Tottenham to be completed. Better still, Crystal Palace are said to have identified a replacement for Eze, making a deal more likely before the transfer window slams shut.

Crystal Palace are playing hardball with Tottenham over Eberechi Eze

Despite the many factors pointing toward a summer move for Eze, an update from The Mirror has revealed Tottenham may have to wait until the weekend to seal a £60m move for the 27-year-old.

This is because the club’s chairman wants to keep Eze and defender Marc Guehi until after their Conference League campaign has begun.

Also, Crystal Palace are playing hardball over Eze, as well as Guehi, who has been linked with Liverpool. Spurs have been pushing hard to sign Eze, but Palace have made it clear they will remain in charge and dictate over both Eze and Guehi before the end of the window.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Their chairman, Steve Parish, has developed a reputation for being a tough negotiator in a similar way to Tottenham’s Daniel Levy. Therefore, any deal for Eze or Guehi will have to be completed on Palace’s terms.

Still, Spurs remain intent on bringing Eze to the club. They have always rated him as a player, but are more determined than ever to sign him after James Maddison tore his ACL.

Should Spurs have paid Eze’s release clause while it was still active?

If Spurs miss out on Eze, many questions will be asked of the board. Specifically, why was the decision not made to pay his £68m release clause while it was still an option?

However, plenty has changed since then. Tottenham were expected to sign Morgan Gibbs-White, and they were never likely to sign both players. Other factors might have played a part, such as not knowing the full extent of Maddison’s injury, or that Heung-min Son would leave the club.

Tottenham supporters will hope this is a conversation which does not need to take place. Palace may be stubborn, but with Eze favouring a move, that could be enough to sway them and allow him to start a new chapter in his career.

Why Tottenham may have to wait until Thursday for Eberechi Eze breakthrough - Spurs Web
Description

Eberechi Eze has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur over the summer, but there remain a few factors preventing the transfer from taking place.

The most bizarre transfer saga of the summer came when Tottenham Hotspur looked to have completed the signing of Morgan Gibbs-White. However, the move fell through at the last minute, leaving Spurs to consider other options.

One of these options is Eberechi Eze and his links with the club have been far from straightforward. In fact, many sources have reported that Arsenal are the frontrunners to sign Eze.

However, Eze has told his Crystal Palace teammates about his potential Tottenham move and he has now reached an agreement with the club. As well as this, progress appears to have been made, as Spurs will accelerate their talks for Eze.

Tottenham signing Eberechi Eze depends on Crystal Palace replacement

Despite the positive updates, an agreement to bring Eze to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is far from done. Crystal Palace have a UEFA Conference League qualifier on Thursday and according to The Sun, a deal is not expected to take place before then.

This comes as Tottenham have made an opening bid for Eze, which is believed to be in the region of £60m, just £8m below his now-expired release clause.

Another factor affecting whether Eze will be allowed to leave Crystal Palace is whether they can land a suitable replacement at this stage in the transfer window. It has been claimed Crystal Palace have already identified their Eze replacement in Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss, but a deal is yet to be struck.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Fortunately for Tottenham, reports suggest that Crystal Palace are in advanced talks with the Foxes over a deal for El Khannouss, which could in turn speed up the Eze deal (SkySports).

Spurs could have one of the best attacks in the Premier League this season

It would be a massive success if Spurs are able to secure Eze. The FA Cup match winner has bags of quality and he is a sound replacement for James Maddison, who is out with a long-term injury.

Eze could also be joined by another talented attacker, as Tottenham are expected to make a third bid for Manchester City winger Savinho. The Brazilian primarily plays on the right, but he would likely be signed as a direct replacement for Heung-min Son and take up the left wing position.

If Mohammed Kudus and Richarlison can keep their form up throughout the season, Spurs could be a serious contender for most goals scored in the Premier League.

Tottenham pull off major coup by convincing World Cup winner to sign new contract - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have handed Thomas Frank a major boost by convincing one of his key leaders to sign a new contract in North London, and fans will be overjoyed.

Thomas Frank has already made major changes to his Tottenham squad since taking over the N17 hotseat, most notably his choice of captain.

With Heung-min Son departing the club after 10 years of service, and past leaders like Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris having also moved on in recent windows, Spurs had a captaincy void to fill this summer.

It was announced before Tottenham’s UEFA Super Cup match against PSG that Cristian Romero would become the new Spurs captain, with the World Cup and Copa America winner being the obvious choice.

Now, it seems Thomas Frank has yet more good news to deliver on the Argentine centre-back.

Cristian Romero signs new contract with Tottenham Hotspur

It has been reported in recent days that Tottenham are determined to tie Romero down to a new long-term contract, with the club captain only having two years left on his deal.

However, claims were made earlier in the summer that Romero had rejected offers from Spurs to become the best-paid player at the club because he wanted to secure a transfer away.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Now it seems the Argentine has made a U-turn on his future, with reliable Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe reporting that Romero has signed a new contract with the club.

This information has also been reinforced by Sky Sports’ Luca Bendoni, who added that Romero’s new contract will run until June 2029.

Romero’s new deal is just as important as a new Spurs signing

Ledley King has already argued that keeping Romero was one of Tottenham’s most important jobs this summer, with the World Cup winner being linked with a move to Atletico Madrid.

Former Spurs centre-back, Steven Caulker, also argued that keeping Romero could define Tottenham’s season. However, it seems that Daniel Levy and co have gone one better than merely keeping the new club captain – they have extended his deal as well.

It seems like the offer of improved wages and the responsibility of leading Tottenham into a brand-new era as captain have convinced Romero to commit the peak years of his career to the Lilywhites.

Description

Lucas Bergvall has issued a rallying cry ahead of Tottenham’s daunting Premier League clash with Manchester City, as the teenager reflected on Spurs’ flying start under new boss Thomas Frank.

Tottenham Hotspur got off to the perfect start on Saturday in the Premier League following their emphatic 3-0 thrashing of newly promoted Burnley.

It was the ideal outing for new boss Thomas Frank, who not only watched his team attack with real swagger but also ensured his side secured a clean sheet.

Tottenham are currently sitting inside the top three of the table following their recent victory, with only Manchester City outperforming them after cruising past Wolves with a 4-0 win in their opener.

Lucas Bergvall on Tottenham facing Manchester City

All eyes are now fixed on Tottenham’s next Premier League fixture, with a trip to face the Citizens looming large for the Lilywhites.

Lucas Bergvall, who was one of the standout performers for Tottenham in their 3-0 victory over Burnley, has spoken about Spurs’ upcoming challenge against Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Swedish youngster stressed the importance of taking things one step at a time while maintaining ambitions of competing at the very top.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Speaking to Yahoo Sport, Bergvall said: “We take every game at a time, we want Champions League of course, we want to win everything but every week is a new game so we take it one at a time.”

The 19-year-old midfielder also pointed back to last season’s stunning result at the Etihad as proof of what Tottenham are capable of producing when at their best.

“We know what we can do. We are a really, really good squad and last year we won 4-0 away at Man City. It is still a really tough game and we need to be ready.”

Bergvall on competition and Richarlison’s form

When asked about his preferred position, Bergvall made it clear that he is willing to adapt to the needs of the team, while also highlighting the challenges of breaking down Burnley’s defensive system.

“I do not know, it is up to the gaffer. I can play both. Whatever he wants. It was difficult to find space against a back five, but I feel like sometimes when I come a bit deeper and drive with the ball up the pitch, it is good.”

The arrival of Bayern Munich loanee Joao Palhinha has added even more depth to Tottenham’s midfield, but Bergvall believes it will only help him improve as he looks to develop under experienced players.

“Of course I can learn, he has played at the top level for many years in Bayern and Fulham, it is really good to get another midfielder with experience,” he said.

Attention also turned to Richarlison, whose brace, including a sensational scissor kick, sealed Spurs’ opening win at Turf Moor.

Bergvall did not hold back in his admiration for the Brazilian forward. “That was unbelievable. Richy has been really good in pre-season and against PSG as well, even though he did not score, he was really strong and today he got two goals.”
