Description

Tottenham Hotspur have already decided on Cristian Romero’s future ahead of the summer window, even though the club do not know whether they will still be in the Premier League next season.

The Tottenham captain is now expected to miss five to eight weeks of action after picking up a knee injury in the club’s 1-0 loss at the Stadium of Light.

That means that the centre-back’s season may be over, although he will be a relieved man to know that he is expected to be fit in time for Argentina’s World Cup defence this summer.

Ahead of Roberto De Zerbi‘s first full season in charge, the Lilywhites have already decided on the future of their captain.

Cristian Romero may not play for Tottenham again after club’s tranfer decision

Romero has given a glowing assessment of De Zerbi and his methods, but the Argentine may not play again for the Italian coach.

This is according to talkSPORT, who say that Tottenham are set to cash in on the 27-year-old this summer, even if they stay in the Premier League.

The report claims that the Lilywhites are planning a massive overhaul of their squad this summer, with Romero considered one of their more sellable assets.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet confirms that Atletico Madrid have a long-standing interest in the player, and Romero’s father revealed that his son’s contract has a release clause of around $50-$70m (£37.8m-£53m).

Four other senior men may depart Spurs this summer

According to talkSPORT, Romero may not be the only senior man to exit Hotspur Way this summer as part of the club’s squad rebuild.

It is suggested that Guglielmo Vicario, Yves Bissouma and Destiny Udogie are also among the names likely to depart Tottenham at the end of the campaign.

Additionally, the report adds that Spurs are ‘far from guaranteed’ to activate their option to sign Joao Palhinha permanently from Bayern Munich.

Alfie Devine is keeping an eye on Tottenham results ahead of £4.5m summer transfer decision - Spurs Web
Description

With interest in Alfie Devine heating up ahead of the summer transfer window, the on-loan Tottenham star has now addressed speculation surrounding his future.

Tottenham Hotspur will be pleased with the progress being made by on-loan star Alfie Devine, who is currently with Preston North End.

The 21-year-old has been a key player for the Championship side, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in all competitions.

Last time out against QPR, the young midfielder managed an assist, having grabbed a brace against Stoke City the week before.

Unsurprisingly, the 21-year-old’s impressive displays have kept several clubs alert, including Premier League sides who are showing an interest in signing Devine.

Alfie Devine addresses his future as Tottenham flirt with relegation

Preston North End are also in the race for Devine, as they have a buy option included in their loan deal. However, the fee of £4.5 million is seen as a major obstacle for the Championship side, who may struggle to meet that valuation.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, who is no stranger to loan spells with this being his fourth, has now opened up on his future and the thought process behind his next move.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Speaking to BBC Lancashire, Devine explained that his immediate focus remains on his current club rather than long-term uncertainty.

He said: “I do not really spend that much time thinking about it, to be honest. I think, obviously, keeping an eye on Tottenham’s results and everything to do with that.

“But while I am here, I am just focused on everything that is going on here and then I think football sort of takes care of itself. So, what next season will look like, I cannot really tell you. But I know that I will be pushing for the thing that probably will be the best for me and what I want for myself, not what other people will want for me.

“There is obviously the buy option in the loan and stuff. It is hard to say whether that will happen or that will not happen, because in football things change so fast. I will be sure to pick something that is right for me and if that takes time, then it takes time. I will definitely make sure that the one I pick is obviously picked by myself.”

Devine also reflected on how quickly situations can change in football, stressing the importance of patience when making career decisions.

“Everyone is obviously different as footballers. I think the thing that I have noticed as a person in football, not a player, is that you have to always do what is best for you on the pitch, definitely. You never know what goes on in football. Stuff changes very quickly and it is just about taking your time.”

Spurs loan star Alfie Devine opens up on sacrifices and decision-making

We recently reported that Devine was scouted by Celtic, who are also keen on securing his signature. Such a move will no doubt take the Spurs man farther away from his family and friends.

Continuing to speak about his journey, the Tottenham midfielder discussed the personal sacrifices that come with moving away from home and how those experiences shape his decisions.

“Definitely,” said Devine. “It is not like an important factor but it worked out nice for me this time. Last year, going to Belgium and stuff like that, I was not thinking, ‘Oh, it is miles away from home’. I am going there because I know what is right for my football at the time, in the position I was in. There was only the abroad market open, so that is the only place I could go and I wanted to go out on loan – everything is a football-based decision.”

He then highlighted the off-pitch challenges, explaining the realities of being away from family and friends during key moments.

“I was in London at 15, 16 and would only come back home for summer for maybe a month, five weeks if that. Last year I was in Belgium where I could only see my mates in those eight, nine months about three, four times.

“I think it is the little things that people do not see; you miss out on birthdays, you miss out on family stuff, you miss out on all that stuff when you are away. When you are home you get to do all of that plus your football as well. I think that is what everyone wants. It is not a priority to be at home but when the two and two fell together then it was perfect.”

Why Thomas Frank has turned down four interviews since Tottenham sacking as agent reveals all - Spurs Web
Description

Reports have now revealed what former Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank has been up to since he was sacked by Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur’s plans to take their sporting project to another level under Thomas Frank earlier this season came crumbling down, as the Dane struggled to make an impact.

Frank was brought in to steady the ship and have Tottenham competing at the top again following their Europa League triumph in the previous season under Ange Postecoglou.

However, a regressive style of football that alienated fans, along with a poor run of form, ultimately proved costly for the former Brentford manager, who was sacked after just eight months in north London.

Tottenham exit sees Thomas Frank stay silent amid interview requests

While Tottenham look to rectify their situation, Ekstra Bladet has now shared a report on what Thomas Frank has been doing since leaving Spurs.

The Danish outlet reports that Frank has not given an interview or appeared on any podcast or show to discuss his exit from Tottenham.

The publication claims that Frank has already turned down four requests for interviews, prompting the newspaper to contact Tottenham to ask whether there is a clause preventing him from speaking, although there was no response.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, they did manage to get hold of his agent, who provided an update on Frank’s current situation and explained his silence.

His agent, Allan Bak, told Ekstra Bladet: “He is going to relax a bit and visit friends and family. Still a little too early for interviews.

“He is enjoying himself with family and friends right now. Has decided to pull the plug and relax.”

Spurs exit may not keep Thomas Frank out of management for long

While Frank is understood to be taking time to unwind, recent reports have claimed that the Dane is not far away from a return to management.

We revealed last month that Frank is now on the radar of Crystal Palace, who are keen to have him in their dugout next season.

It is explained that the former Tottenham boss is seen as an ideal replacement for Oliver Glasner, who is set to depart this summer.

Frank will surely not be remembered fondly by many fans, as his tenure in N17 has left the club embroiled in a relegation battle, with Spurs now on course to lose their Premier League status, one they have held for almost half a century.

Mohammed Kudus may have played his last game for Tottenham after latest transfer rumours

Mohammed Kudus may have played his last game for Tottenham after latest transfer rumours - Spurs Web
Description

Mohammed Kudus is currently out with a quad injury, and it remains to be seen whether he will ever play for Tottenham Hotspur again amid some huge transfer rumours.

Tottenham Hotspur made a strong start to the season, and Mohammed Kudus was at the centre of the club’s positive form.

The ex-Hammer impressed with his dribbling and physicality. Plus, he had registered six Premier League assists by the beginning of December.

However, Kudus has been sidelined with an injury since the start of the year and Spurs recently announced that he might need surgery. As a result, it is now highly unlikely the Ghanaian will be seen again this season.

Mohammed Kudus is wanted by Tottenham’s Premier League rivals

Despite Kudus’ fitness struggles, he is attracting interest from both Manchester United and Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Caught Offside.

The Red Devils are on course for Champions League qualification next season, so could be viewed as an attractive option.

Chelsea have been less impressive, but are still in with a chance of finishing in the top five, which would be enough to seal a place among Europe’s elite next season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs on the other hand are scrambling for survival, and it remains to be seen whether Kudus would stick around if Roberto De Zerbi’s team are relegated to the Championship.

Spurs are short on right-wingers, through their own fault

Any interest in Kudus is a huge blow for Tottenham and not merely due to the fact that he has only played half a season at the club.

Spurs inexplicably sold Brennan Johnson in January, and Dejan Kulusevski has been out injured for a whole year. Quite simply, the club cannot afford to lose Kudus. However, relegation from the Premier League would give them little choice on the matter.

Ultimately, it seems like a squad rebuild will be required, and this is probably the case whether Tottenham avoid the drop or not.

How Marcos Senesi feels about joining Tottenham as six clubs push hard for free agent - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are wasting no time in trying to get ahead of the competition to land Marcos Senesi, but they have plenty of work to do to sign the Bournemouth defender.

The speculation linking the Argentine centre-back with a move to N17 has gone into hyperdrive over the last week as the defender looks set to become a free agent this summer.

Over recent days, various outlets have said that Tottenham are in close contact with Senesi’s representatives regarding a switch to N17.

It has been claimed that there could be some big developments on the Spurs target’s future by the end of the week, after the defender already made it known that he will not be signing a new contract at the Vitality Stadium.

Tottenham one of four clubs making ‘strongest push’ for Marcos Senesi

A new report in Ole has now provided an update on the Argentine centre-back’s future.

It is revealed that Senesi has already been the subject of enquiries from multiple clubs, and there have already been some negotiations held.

The outlet claims that the four sides showing the ‘most interest’ and are making the ‘strongest push’ at the moment are Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Man United and Chelsea.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, it is pointed out that Senesi will only consider a move to the North London club if they manage to secure their Premier League status.

When Senesi is expected to decide on his next destination

Ole claim that the interest in the experienced defender is not restricted to England, with Barcelona and Juventus also in the running to land the Bournemouth star.

The outlet backs up what some other sources have said by asserting that Senesi wants to finalise his next destination before this summer’s World Cup.

The publication adds that the 28-year-old’s immediate focus is on having a strong end to the season with the Cherries and to seal his spot in Lionel Scaloni’s final list for the big tournament in North America this summer.

I didn’t want to be a firefighter at Tottenham but I was honoured to be linked – Adi Hutter - Spurs Web
Description

Adi Hutter has made an interesting admission about being linked with the Tottenham Hotspur job prior to the club’s appointment of Roberto De Zerbi.

While the Italian coach has not had the start he would have hoped for to his spell at Spurs, who fell to a 1-0 loss at Sunderland in his first game in charge.

However, the Lilywhites are seemingly happy with their decision. Tottenham’s sporting director, Johan Lange, has made it clear that De Zerbi was always the club’s top target.

The 46-year-old has committed to a five-year contract, and additionally, De Zerbi has also guaranteed that he will be in charge of Spurs next season, even if they get relegated.

Adi Hutter reveals he did not want to be a firefighter at Tottenham

Before De Zerbi arrived through the door, some outlets suggested that Spurs had held talks with Adi Hutter, who has been out of work since parting ways with Monaco last October.

The experienced manager has now revealed that he had no intention of being involved in an immediate relegation battle at this stage of his managerial career.

The 56-year-old told 90 Minuten: “It’s true that you have to process being released from your contract. You have to reflect on why it happened that way and what you could have done better. That takes time. What I absolutely dislike is playing the role of a firefighter.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Before I went to Monaco, I could have stepped in as a firefighter in England, but I declined. When you arrive somewhere where things are in crisis, you never have the opportunity to develop your playing philosophy in ten or twelve games. You have to adopt a completely different approach to coaching and management. That was never what I wanted.”

Hutter admits it was an honour to be linked with Spurs job

While the Austrian did not actually confirm if Tottenham approached him, he has directly addressed the speculation linking him with the North London club.

Hutter admitted that it was ‘an honour’ to be linked with jobs as big as the Spurs one.

When asked about the speculation, the former Monaco boss said: “I’ve been linked with Lazio and Tottenham Hotspur. Of course, I could say: It’s an honour to be a topic of discussion with these clubs.

“I’m not the type to broadcast every inquiry, every discussion. That’s not my style, and I don’t think it’s fair to the clubs. I understand every club that doesn’t want to have to moderate a coaching discussion. That’s why such matters are always discussed internally.”

Fernando Llorente sends ‘togetherness’ warning to Tottenham after Atletico shock in 2000 - Spurs Web
Description

Former Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente has now delivered his verdict on the chances of a Spurs Premier League relegation.

Tottenham Hotspur’s 2026 woes are showing no sign of easing despite the Lilywhites having turned to three different managers – Thomas Frank, Igor Tudor and Roberto De Zerbi.

De Zerbi is the latest to take the reins, but his start was far from perfect, as he fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at the hands of Sunderland in his debut game.

That defeat has now sent Spurs into the bottom three, leaving them in a precarious position in the league with just six games left to play.

Tottenham relegation fears deepen as Fernando Llorente delivers verdict

Former Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente has now shared his thoughts on the club’s current struggles, expressing concern over their situation while reflecting on how quickly things have unravelled.

Speaking to Hajper, Llorente addressed Tottenham’s poor season and the difficulty of explaining their decline.

He said, “Let us hope they do not go down. This year is going badly, it is inexplicable. After winning the Europa League (I was at San Mames that day), and playing in the Champions League this year… they started very well. It is incredible.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“The level of the Premier League is extremely high. The competitiveness is brutal. If you do not do things right we have seen it many times in other big leagues.

“I remember that great Atletico Madrid team with Hasselbaink that still went down to the second division. How is that possible? There are things in football that are hard to explain.

“But in the end all teams fight, and even if you have great players, if the group is not very united and does not fight together, you may not get out of a difficult situation like the one Tottenham are in now.”

Spurs must show unity to survive relegation battle

Of course, Spurs must put in a fight if they are to stay in the Premier League this season. However, with results since the turn of the year only getting worse, it does look like this group of players do not have what it takes to turn things around.

Tottenham have not been in a situation like this in recent years, with the last time they were relegated dating back to the 1970s.

Such lack of experience appears to be working against the Lilywhites, who are up against sides that have been in relegation scraps more recently.

The know-how within the Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Leeds camps is evident, as the three sides are doing enough to move clear of the drop zone, while Spurs have continued to sink.

Three Tottenham stars Roberto De Zerbi should drop to beat Brighton in must-win clash

Three Tottenham stars Roberto De Zerbi should drop to beat Brighton in must-win clash - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have struggled to pick up wins this calendar year, and now Roberto De Zerbi must be ruthless with his team selection as we head into the Premier League run-in. We have identified three players the Italian must drop against Brighton and Hove Albion.

With each passing gameweek, Tottenham Hotspur are running out of time to save their Premier League season as relegation to the Championship looms large.

In gameweek 32, Spurs were the only side in the bottom four who failed to pick up any points, with West Ham United, Nottingham Forest and Leeds all managing to either win or draw their respective games.

Tottenham now find themselves in the relegation places, two points adrift of safety after West Ham leapfrogged them last week.

But matchweek 33 presents Spurs with another shot at redemption, with in-form Brighton making the trip to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

This encounter marks Roberto De Zerbi’s home debut, and he will be hoping to mark the occasion with a victory. Still, changes must be made to his starting XI, and we have highlighted three players we believe should be dropped on Saturday if Tottenham are to secure a result.

Tottenham should drop Conor Gallagher after midfield struggles

To kick things off, focus turns to Conor Gallagher, who started in the pivot role alongside Archie Gray against Sunderland.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The former Chelsea man looked to put in a shift, but it was clear his efforts were not good enough against the Black Cats. Spurs needed more from him both on and off the ball, yet Gallagher struggled to deliver at the required level.

The midfielder failed to track Mukiele as he drove through Tottenham’s midfield before scoring the only goal of the game. His overall numbers underline that struggle.

From his stats, it is clear he struggled to win duels and could have offered more with his distribution into the final third. De Zerbi must find a solution ahead of Brighton.

Spurs must consider dropping Dominic Solanke after quiet Sunderland display

Dominic Solanke is another player who should be dropped this weekend after he struggled to make an impact in the final third for Tottenham against Sunderland.

The Spurs’ number nine barely had a kick of the ball and was a passenger for large spells, and with goals hard to come by in the last two games, such performances are not what the side needs at this stage of the season.

Speaking about his display, Jamie O’Hara was critical and even went as far as giving Solanke a match rating of zero.

The forward’s performance was dreadful last weekend, as he managed just 18 touches in 90 minutes, had just two shots, was dispossessed once and missed one big chance.

Tottenham should replace Randal Kolo Muani to add attacking threat

Another player who disappointed against Sunderland and should be dropped for the Brighton game is Randal Kolo Muani.

The Frenchman was De Zerbi’s solution to Mohammed Kudus’ injury, but he did not reach the level expected. While the two players are different, playing in that wide forward role demands creativity, direct running and a willingness to trouble defenders.

We did not see that from Muani, whose play was often too predictable while he struggled to complete take-ons.

Spurs’ attack looked blunt, largely due to a lack of creativity, and that is something De Zerbi must address against Brighton.

Replacing him with a natural winger such as Mathys Tel could improve that aspect of the attack, adding unpredictability and creativity.

'People tell me he's good' - Troy Deeney blasts Lucas Bervall for 'touch-tackling' at Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

Lucas Bergvall has come under fire after failing to impress Troy Deeney in his most recent display for Tottenham Hotspur.

Last season was tough for Tottenham Hotspur, at least on a domestic level, as the club slumped to its worst-ever Premier League finish.

However, Lucas Bergvall kept on delivering when times were difficult, showing life and enthusiasm when those around him did not. He even earned a clean sweep of Player of the Season awards for his troubles.

Unfortunately, the Swede has not been a regular starter this season. In fact, he has not completed a full 90-minute Premier League match since April last year.

Injury problems have definitely been a factor, but the 20-year-old fell down the pecking order when Thomas Frank was in charge.

Troy Deeney slams Lucas Bergvall for latest Tottenham performance

Ahead of the international break, Bergvall was able to complete one half of football and he made it to the hour-mark against Sunderland last Sunday.

However, the youngster failed to make a difference for Spurs. Worse still, he has been absolutely slammed by ex-Watford forward Troy Deeney.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He said on Tiktok: “People were saying a new manager’s going to come in and instil confidence. What do you mean?

“I saw Bergvall. People have been telling me he’s good for the past two years, he was touch-tackling everything. Everything that came near him, he was touch-tackling.”

Bergvall has only just returned from injury

It seems fair to say that Bergvall has been unable to build consistency when he has been in and out of the first team.

Therefore, considering the fact that he recently recovered from a near-two-month ankle sprain, Deeney’s criticism seems over the top.

There are areas of Bergvall’s game which need to improve, but at his age, that is to be expected. Ultimately, what he needs right now is the chance to find his rhythm and get back in form.

Tottenham squad should use Michael Owen’s prediction to drive themselves to survival

Tottenham squad should use Michael Owen’s prediction to drive themselves to survival - Spurs Web
Description

Michael Own has revealed whether he expects Tottenham Hotspur to join Burnley and Wolves in the Championship this summer.

Spurs are now at major risk of being relegated from the English top-flight for the first time in nearly half a century.

It is a situation that was almost unthinkable until a few months ago, but a disastrous run of form since the turn of the year has put the Lilywhites on the verge of disaster.

Roberto De Zerbi is the man who is tasked with turning things around for the Lilywhites, but the Italian desperately needs a result this Saturday against his former club after losing his first game in charge at the Stadium of Light.

Michael Owen believes Tottenham will be relegated this season

Spurs are just two points adrift of West Ham in 17th, and there are still 18 points to play for this season, but Owen points out that the Hammers are the most in-form side of the teams in the relegation battle.

Following the latest round of results, the former Man United and Liverpool striker now believes that it will be Spurs who will join the Clarets and Wolves in the second tier.

Owen told Premier League Productions: “Well, what we’ve got is Leeds, they’ve got the best run-in. Wolves and Burnley at home, they’ll be alright.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Forest, they’re in decent enough form. Burnley at home [next up], that’s a winnable game. Of course, they at home on the last game of the season [vs Bournemouth], and they are three points ahead of Tottenham.

“West Ham are probably in the best form out of these four teams. They’re playing exceptionally well. They’ve got the momentum, and they’ve got a couple of games that they possibly should win as well. A couple of home games that they might have a chance at.

“I think before this weekend, I thought it was between Leeds and Tottenham to go down. After that result [at Old Trafford], I’m favouring Tottenham to go down.”

Relegation will have disastrous consequences for Spurs

According to some experts, Tottenham’s revenue could take a whopping £250m hit if they were to go down to the Championship.

That could have a crippling effect on the club, which is why some have suggested that Spurs will be forced to offload many of their high earners if they go down.
