Description

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed a familiar loan move for the 2025/26 season, as one youngster returns to his 2024/25 stomping ground.

Tottenham Hotspur have already completed some outgoings this summer, including the £1 million sale of Josh Keeley to Luton Town and the £17 million sale of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Marseille.

Reports earlier in the week had indicated that Tottenham were considering loan moves for several of their youngsters, particularly those who did not feature in Thomas Frank’s first pre-season outing against Reading.

Frank fielded two separate elevens on Saturday, 19 July, with experienced first-teamers and returning loanees taking centre stage. Notably absent from the squad were George Abbott, Yang Min-Hyeok and Ashley Phillips.

Tottenham confirm Ashley Phillips loan to Stoke City, again

Tottenham Hotspur have now officially confirmed the departure of centre-back Ashley Phillips, who had only just returned from a loan spell this summer.

Phillips spent the entirety of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Championship side Stoke City, making 39 appearances in central defence and contributing one goal.

It is now confirmed that the 20-year-old will return to Stoke City for the 2025/26 season, once again on a season-long loan.

Phillips loan move hints at Spurs pecking order

The young defender is yet to make his senior debut for Spurs, although he has been named in the matchday squad on eight occasions since progressing through the academy.

Phillips previously had a loan stint at Plymouth Argyle, where he made 20 appearances for the League One outfit.

With Tottenham opting to loan out the England Under-20 international once more, it is clear that he is being earmarked for continued development elsewhere, particularly as there is no shortage of options in central defence, with up to seven centre-backs currently on the books in North London.

Alasdair Gold has explained the factor that is holding up Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of a new defensive midfielder like Joao Palhinha.

According to reports, Thomas Frank is keen on signing a top-class number six, and that would not come as a surprise to most Spurs fans, as central midfield is one area where the Dane is not blessed with many great options.

While a number of outlets are now reporting that Tottenham are pushing ahead with a move for Joao Palhinha, he is far from the only midfielder that the Lilywhites are looking at.

Douglas Luiz and Joao Gomes are also thought to be on Spurs’ radar, while it has also been claimed by some sources that Tottenham have not ruled out an audacious move for Adam Wharton.

Tottenham are looking to offload a midfielder before making a signing

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has now explained that Frank wants to sign ready-made players with Premier League experience who can hit the ground running at N17.

He says that Palhinha is a player who fits the bill for the Lilywhites, although he is not the only option that the club are considering.

The journalist reveals that Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in the Portugal international is not new and dates back to his time at Craven Cottage.

However, Gold adds that before Spurs can push ahead with a move for the Bayern Munich man or another alternative, they first want to offload one of their central midfielders.

Tottenham want to sell Yves Bissouma but there is one problem

It has been widely reported over the last few weeks that Spurs are now trying to find a buyer for Yves Bissouma, who has just a year left on his contract.

It has been claimed by some sources that Fenerbahce are preparing a bid for Bissouma this summer, but the Mali international’s exit may not be on the cards for the next few days or weeks.

Description

Amidst reports that Nottingham Forest are hoping to sell Morgan Gibbs-White to Manchester City rather than Tottenham Hotspur, a new update has revealed what the Manchester club’s stance is on the attacking midfielder.

It has been nearly two weeks since Tottenham met Morgan Gibbs-White’s £60m release clause, but the transfer appears no closer to going through.

Nottingham Forest are continuing to fight to stop Spurs from landing Gibbs-White, with the Midlands club accusing the North London side of speaking to the player illegally to find out about his confidential release clause.

It emerged earlier this week that Forest owner, Evangelos Marinakis, is trying to sell Gibbs-White to Man City instead of Spurs.

The Manchester club previously held an interest in the England international, and the Tricky Trees are hoping that they come back in for the player soon.

Manchester City are not expected to fight Tottenham for Morgan Gibbs-White

Spurs fans are understandably furious at Marinakis for his underhanded tactics regarding Gibbs-White. However, their fears over missing out on the midfielder have been assuaged by a new report from Manchester Evening News.

The outlet says that City have no intention of making a move for Gibbs-White despite finding out that he is available for £60m.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Guardiola’s men did show an interest in the Forest star last season, but they have reinforced their midfield this summer with the additions of Rayan Cherki from Lyon and Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan.

City are not looking to add any more midfielders to the squad and are currently focused on offloading the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Jack Grealish.

Forest may want to complete another deal before selling Gibbs-White

Various experts have continued to suggest that Gibbs-White will complete a move to Spurs eventually, but it is unclear at the moment how long the issue will take to be resolved.

Some sources have claimed that Forest may simply be delaying the Gibbs-White deal until they sign a replacement.

The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke has now suggested that Thomas Frank’s transfer plans will have been influenced after watching one Tottenham man in action against Reading on Saturday.

Tottenham Hotspur have had a solid transfer window so far, but a lot of work still needs to be done if the Lilywhites are to compete on multiple fronts.

Thomas Frank has made it clear that Spurs need a big squad to compete in all four competitions, but there is some uncertainty regarding whether the Dane wants to still strengthen the heart of his defence.

Over the past few days, a number of outlets have claimed that Tottenham are showing an interest in Illia Zabarnyi, while some sources have revealed that Spurs are also speaking to Genoa about Koni De Winter.

Tottenham no longer expected to sign a new centre-back

The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke has now claimed that Luka Vuskovic’s impressive showing against Reading may mean that Tottenham decide against another addition at centre-back.

With the Croat and Kota Takai arriving through the door this summer to join Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Kevin Danso, Radu Dragusin, and Ben Davies, the journalist feels that depth in the heart of defence is not a big issue for Frank.

However, he adds that the Danish coach might want to add more depth in the full-back positions before the start of the new season.

Many would have noted that Frank used a 4-2-3-1 formation against Reading in both halves, which is the same system he used at Brentford for the majority of last season.

While we know that the 51-year-old is tactically flexible, his selection shows that he is not likely to go to a back three as his primary formation next season.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s move for a Premier League centre-back is now gathering steam, with a new report suggesting that the Lilywhites’ offer for the player could be accepted.

It first emerged over the weekend that Tottenham are ready to make a big offer for Illiya Zabarnyi, and since then, we have heard contradictory updates regarding the transfer pursuit

Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel that Spurs have not made a concrete move for the Bournemouth man, but this has been contradicted by other sources.

This includes an update by Duncas Castles, who asserted that Tottenham have already made a bid of €70m (£60.6m) for Zabarnyi, who is also being targeted by Paris Saint-Germain.

Bournemouth may find it hard to turn down Tottenham’s offer for Illia Zabarnyi

A new update from Football Insider has now claimed that Spurs have emerged as the clear frontrunners to land the Ukraine international.

The report asserts that despite PSG’s interest in the 22-year-old, the Lilywhites are now advancing on a deal for the Cherries star.

Andoni Iraola’s men do not want to lose Zabarnyi after the departures of Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid and Milos Kerkez to Liverpool.

However, it is explained that the South Coast club would find it difficult to turn down offers in excess of £60m for the young centre-back.

Tottenham are not Zabarnyi’s preferred destination

It was reported by TBR Football a couple of days ago that Zabarnyi would prefer to join PSG over Spurs this summer.

The same information was backed up by Sky Sports reporter Luca Bendoni, who revealed that while the Parisians have not met Bournemouth’s asking price, Zabarnyi has already indicated a desire to move to the French capital.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have just made a surprising announcement, revealing that they will be playing two different pre-season friendlies this Saturday.

New arrivals, Mohammed Kudus and Luka Vuskovic, impressed against Reading last week in Tottenham’s first pre-season game of the season, with the Lilywhites emerging 2-0 winners.

Spurs played a 4-2-3-1 formation in both halves, and it was already evident that Frank and his coaching staff had started putting their tactical imprint on the side.

The Lilywhites defended in a mid-block and looked far more solid at the back, and the supporters will be eagerly waiting to learn more about the team’s new patterns of play against Luton Town this Saturday.

Tottenham will be playing Luton Town and Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday

Tottenham Hotspur were due to take on Championship side Luton Town at Kenilworth Road at 3 pm on Saturday as they step up preparations for the season.

In a rather surprising move, Spurs have now announced on their official website that they will take on League One side Wycombe Wanderers on the same day.

The Lilywhites will be playing Wycombe at 11 am, with the game set to be played behind closed doors at Hotspur Way.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This is not something that we usually see clubs do during pre-season, and it shows that Frank and his coaching staff are keen to get more minutes into the legs of all the members of the squad.

Several Tottenham stars were also in action on Tuesday

Interestingly, Jamie Donley and Will Lanskhear, who both got minutes against Reading last Saturday, also featured for Tottenham’s Under-21 side in their friendly against Leyton Orient on Tuesday.

Yang Min-hyeok and Dane Scarlett also got minutes in Brisbane Road as the O’s emerged 3-1 winners.

Description

The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke has revealed what Tottenham Hotspur are plotting regarding Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha, whose future at the Allianz Arena is thought to be in doubt.

It has been widely reported over the last few weeks that Spurs are keen on signing a top-class number six this summer, and that is not surprising, considering that Tottenham are now trying to offload Yves Bissouma.

Spurs Web relayed an update from TBR Football a few days ago, which claimed that the Lilywhites had started fresh talks with Bayern Munich over Palhinha.

The former Fulham man struggled to break into Vincent Kompany’s starting eleven last season, and according to some sources, Bayern are ready to sell Palhinha for £26m despite paying £47m for him last summer.

Tottenham do not want to sign Joao Palhinha in a permanent deal

The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke has now confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur are indeed interested in the Portugal international and that he is on the market.

However, he claims that the North Londoners would prefer to sign the midfielder on loan rather than permanently.

That perhaps has to do with the fact that Palhinha is now 30 years of age, and according to Capology, he is reportedly on wages of £300,000 per week in Bavaria.

However, signing the former Fulham man on loan will be easier said than done for Tottenham, as per another recent update.

Bayern Munich are not willing to loan out Palhinha

Spurs Web recently covered an update from GiveMeSport, which claimed that Bayern are only willing to sell Palhinha permanently, and are not interested in loaning him out.

The same update also asserted that the midfielder is happy to stay at the Allianz Arena and fight for his place in the Bayern side next season.

Tottenham fans accuse Nottingham Forest of foul play after latest Morgan Gibbs-White twist - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham fans have been left stunned by the latest twist in the Morgan Gibbs-White saga, with many questioning the legality of Nottingham Forest’s actions after Spurs triggered the midfielder’s release clause.

Morgan Gibbs-White remains a Nottingham Forest player, despite Tottenham Hotspur reportedly activating the midfielder’s release clause just over a week ago.

With every passing day, it becomes increasingly difficult to envision Gibbs-White turning out in a Tottenham shirt next season, and plenty of Spurs fans have already begun urging the club to shift focus to other targets in the market.

Now, fresh reports claim that Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is hoping Manchester City will enter the race to sign Gibbs-White.

It is believed the midfielder informed Marinakis at the end of last season that he would only depart for a certain calibre of club – and the Forest chief does not see Tottenham Hotspur as fitting that bracket.

Tottenham fans fume over Morgan Gibbs-White situation

Spurs supporters who have seen the latest reports have been swift to share their thoughts, with many now left disillusioned by the entire Gibbs-White transfer saga and how it has unfolded.

One fan remarked: “If City do not come in for him, which they will not! How can they stop us? Legally, surely they cannot?” Another added: “Should we not just move on, there is Xavi Simons available in the market. This drama will never end.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

A third fan vented: “When has an owner become a player and undermine other clubs. It is totally unprofessional!” While another echoed a similar sentiment: “Why does that matter? Release clause was hit. Surely we need to look at the legal issues of this.”

The strongest reaction came from a supporter who posted: “That has got to be illegal surely. If the Prem find nothing wrong with our approach and that Forest blocked the deal just to sell him to City after we activated a release clause, then we should sue the s**t out of them.”

Despite the anger from Tottenham fans, Morgan Gibbs-White appears no closer to holding up a Spurs shirt this summer, with just weeks to go until the start of the Premier League season.

Spurs fans left in limbo amid Gibbs-White transfer drama

July 21 was widely regarded as a key date in the Gibbs-White saga, with reports suggesting that the player wanted his future resolved before Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad travelled for their pre-season tour of Portugal.

Morgan Gibbs-White did not make the trip to Portugal, although it is understood that his absence is down to personal reasons rather than anything related to Tottenham, and that he would join the rest of the Forest squad later this week.

Whether those suggestions hold any truth remains to be seen, but at present, Tottenham fans will have to wait and see if all the back and forth eventually ends with the midfielder wearing the Lilywhite shirt.

Tottenham show shock interest in £76m Real Madrid star, Daniel Levy wants a better deal

Tottenham show shock interest in £76m Real Madrid star, Daniel Levy wants a better deal - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham have reportedly set their sights on a shock move for a £76m Real Madrid winger, as Thomas Frank looks to bolster his forward line with another marquee addition this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur are no strangers when it comes to doing business with Spanish giants Real Madrid.

In fact, over the last decade, Tottenham have sold two of their top talents to Los Blancos, making a total of £115.1 million in the space of a year.

On 27 August 2012, Luka Modric joined the Spanish giants for £30 million before going on to become one of the greatest midfielders in the history of the game.

Meanwhile, a year later, Gareth Bale, after several impressive seasons at White Hart Lane, made a record-breaking move to Real Madrid, completing an £85.1 million switch in September.

Tottenham join race for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo

Tottenham’s relationship with Real Madrid is said to still remain intact, according to AS, who now claim that Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Real Madrid winger Rodrygo Goes.

The Brazilian international, who has three years left on his current deal, managed just six goals and six assists in 30 La Liga appearances.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, the outlet claims that Tottenham are still looking to make a statement signing, even after completing a deal for West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus, who is Spurs’ fourth-most expensive signing, having joined for £55 million.

It is understood that while Real Madrid are demanding €90 million (around £76 million) for Rodrygo, Daniel Levy is expected to negotiate a deal at a lower price, using his good relationship with Real Madrid to his advantage.

Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Arsenal also interested in Rodrygo

Tottenham, however, are not the only ones monitoring Rodrygo this summer, as several other sides in Europe are keeping tabs on the winger’s situation.

Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Arsenal are also reported to have shown interest. Arsenal, for one, have had Rodrygo on their radar for some time now, and reports even claimed that after failing to agree on a deal with Real Madrid, the Gunners turned their attention to one of Spurs’ long-time targets, Eberechi Eze.

Mikel Arteta’s men have since completed the signing of Chelsea winger and former Tottenham academy graduate, Noni Madueke, and it remains to be seen if they will still push on for Rodrygo this summer.

It is further explained by the publication that while clubs remain interested in the Brazilian, no team so far has initiated contact with Real Madrid.

However, conversations between Rodrygo’s entourage and interested clubs have been taking place. Madrid are understood to be looking to sell before they go into the market to strengthen their team even further.

Why Tottenham selling Josh Keeley could hurt Antonin Kinsky in the long-run

Why Tottenham selling Josh Keeley could hurt Antonin Kinsky in the long-run - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have parted ways with goalkeeper Josh Keeley, a decision which could have consequences for Antonin Kinsky over the next 12 months.

Until recently, Tottenham had more goalkeepers than they knew what to do with. However, Fraser Forster and Alfie Whiteman have both left Spurs. Further to this, Josh Keeley has left Tottenham to join Luton Town. In total, only £1m has been earned from the goalkeeper departures, although there is a sell-on clause in the agreement on Keeley.

This leaves Spurs with only three goalkeepers, meaning it is unlikely another one will leave. Initially, it was reported that Thomas Frank could offload Guglielmo Vicario, but these rumours appear to have been shut down.

The Italian is likely to remain first choice, while Antonin Kinsky will feature in domestic cup competitions. The chances of Brandon Austin getting regular game time are very slim, unless his fellow comrades between the sticks pick up injuries.

Antonin Kinsky would have benefitted from a loan move away from Tottenham

At 22 years old, it would be beneficial for Kinsky to be playing regular first-team football, but that is unlikely to be the case this season. He was given his fair share of minutes at Slavia Prague, but his previous employers compete in a league far below the lofty standards of the Premier League.

Currently, Kinksy’s lack of quality at the highest level is evident for all to see. He made a mistake against Reading last Saturday which almost led to a goal and his handling abilities have not looked convincing since he joined Tottenham.

Having said this, the Czechian is good with the ball at his feet and the foundations are there for him to go on to be a top goalkeeper. The call here is not to object to his signing in the first place, but to conclude he is not yet ready to perform at the highest level.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It would be good for Kinsky to go out on loan and start matches, either in the Premier League or for one of the better sides in the other top three leagues in Europe. However, with Tottenham bidding farewell to three goalkeepers, this would be impractical.

Spurs could have kept Josh Keeley

Tottenham were unable to get Keeley to sign a new contract, so his sale is understandable. However, he was contracted to Spurs until 2027. Therefore, keeping him until January or next summer remained an option. Alternatively, Spurs could have offered a new short-term contract to Forster or Whiteman, with both counting as homegrown players.

However, because Spurs have halved their goalkeeping options, there is no chance of Kinsky going anywhere this summer. He will still get a few starts here and there, but the signs suggest he needs more game time at the top level in order to work on the more traditional elements of the goalkeeping arts.
