Description

Tottenham Hotspur are in danger of having their young starlet poached by one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Tottenham are already in danger of losing both Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, both of whom are wanted by some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Replacing either of the pair will be extremely difficult for Spurs, and the Lilywhites would have hoped that Luka Vuskovic could fill the hole after an impressive breakthrough season in Germany.

Many have tipped Vuskovic for a big role at Tottenham next season, but a European club is now trying to spoil the North London club’s plans.

Luka Vuskovic is a wanted man

Vuskovic has already been linked with some of the biggest clubs in the world, and it has now emerged that one La Liga giant is ready to push ahead with a move for the youngster.

This is according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who revealed that Barcelona are ‘closely monitoring’ the Tottenham defender.

He reveals that the Catalan giants have already had ‘initial talks’ over a move for Vuskovic, but Hamburg are continuing to push to extend his loan spell at the club.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Plettenberg wrote on X: “FC Barcelona are closely monitoring Luka Vuskovic and have added him to their shortlist for the summer. Hansi Flick appreciates him. Initial talks have already taken place. Hamburger SV are pushing for a second loan. Tottenham’s clear plan is to bring the 19 y/o gem back in the summer.”

Two other European clubs also want to land Vuskovic

We have seen reports from Germany suggesting that Bayern Munich are planning to test the waters for Vuskovic in the summer transfer window.

Sources from Spain have claimed that Real Madrid are prepared to go all out for the Spurs teenager, with Los Blancos keen on rejuvenating their backline this summer.

Why Dele Alli has been training at Tottenham’s Hotspur Way base this week - Spurs Web
Description

Fresh details have emerged explaining why Dele Alli has been spotted training at Tottenham’s base, with the north London club continuing to offer support to their former midfielder.

Dele Alli remains a fan favourite at Tottenham Hotspur, and that was evident in the warm welcome Alli received during his return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when Spurs took on Arsenal.

Alli has admitted he has been touched by the love he has received from Tottenham fans in all corners of the world and described the squad he was part of at Spurs as a ‘family’.

Spurs have continued to provide a family-like welcome for their former midfielder, allowing Dele to train at Hotspur Way as he works his way back to full fitness following a lack of football since being released by Como last summer.

Tottenham training arrangement with Dele Alli at Hotspur Way

The Athletic have now provided further details regarding the latest photos of Alli training at Hotspur Way.

The publication confirmed that Tottenham have permitted Dele Alli to train on an academy pitch at Hotspur Way, their Hertfordshire base.

It is understood that the arrangement will last a few weeks while he continues to look for a new club, and he was seen working with an individual coach on Wednesday.

Tottenham Hotspur fans will hate what West Ham supporters were chanting at Craven Cottage - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans will certainly not like what West Ham United fans were singing during their 1-0 win away at Fulham on Wednesday.

Spurs were second best all over the pitch during their 2-1 defeat to Fulham at the weekend, with Igor Tudor admitting Tottenham have lots of problems to solve.

It cannot have been an encouraging sight for the Croat when he saw their relegation rivals, West Ham, beat Fulham on the very same pitch just a few days later.

The Hammers’ win at Craven Cottage means that Tottenham sit just a point off the relegation zone, with pressure now well and truly on the Lilywhites ahead of their clash against Crystal Palace this evening.

West Ham are closing the gap on Spurs

The Hammers have undoubtedly been in better form across 2026 than Tottenham, who are yet to win a single Premier League game this calendar year.

The West Ham fans who travelled to Craven Cottage certainly let their London rivals know that they are gaining ground on them.

As relayed by Peter Smith of Sky Sports, the away fans in West London on Wednesday chanted: “We’re coming for you, Tottenham Hotspur, we’re coming for you.”

Relegation is a stark possibility for Tottenham

Jamie O’Hara has said that the Tottenham players do not have the stomach for a relegation fight, unlike West Ham and Nottingham Forest.

The pundit blasted the likes of Xavi Simons and demanded that the Spurs players need to match the opposition’s work rate to earn their right to play.

With pressure now well and truly on, and with a struggling Palace side visiting N17, the leaders in the Tottenham squad need to step up this evening, or it could be simply too late.

Micky Van de Ven accused of downing tools at Tottenham: Arsenal legend says Frank sack backfired

Micky Van de Ven accused of downing tools at Tottenham: Arsenal legend says Frank sack backfired - Spurs Web
Description

Igor Tudor has not long been at Tottenham Hotspur, but Martin Keown believes he has already seen enough to know where Micky van de Ven’s head is at.

Tottenham Hotspur fans were delighted when Thomas Frank was finally shown the door, but many of the so-called football experts were less enthusiastic about his departure.

Despite a woeful spell in North London, there was widespread agreement among the media that the Dane needed more time to turn things around at the club.

However, Spurs ultimately made the decision to get rid of Frank and appoint Igor Tudor to take charge until the end of the season.

The Croatian is off to a rocky start and this has led to ex-Arsenal star Martin Keown to make an interesting observation about how Micky van de Ven has responded to the changes at Spurs.

Keown does not believe sacking Frank was the correct decision, nor was the follow-up call to appoint a manager with no experience in the Premier League.

He believes this has harmed Spurs, and van de Ven, in particular, does not appear happy with the changing environment at the club.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Speaking to Football London, Keown explained: “They brought somebody in, like a trouble-shooter from out of town, who doesn’t understand the Premier League in the same way.

“They became so impatient with Thomas Frank. I think Thomas Frank would have handled it until the end of the season. And if they wanted to make a change, they could make a change.

“Maybe van de Ven is a player who developed more under Thomas Frank than anyone else, who has now kind of downed tools a little bit because he’s lost his manager. I don’t know.”

“But, it’s not got better since he [Tudor] came in there. He looked, after an hour against Arsenal, that he was struggling to get a reaction from his team. So, I mean, Palace is an interesting one, because Palace now is not quite what they were since Glasner announced he was leaving,” Keown remarked.

“But I think they might go there and enjoy, you know, this local rivalry. It’s big. But, when you see the pressure on someone else, people enjoy it, don’t they? You’ve seen that with Arsenal.

“So, they’ve got to get something quickly because this swing is mushrooming and getting bigger every day, and the pressure is really building on Spurs. And I’m pretty well certain that – we talk about meetings, crisis meetings – there’s got to be one there today because they need to get some results from fast.

He added: “There’s the game against Forest, which kind of feels like a winner-takes-all. They’re only one win away, really, but where’s that win coming from?”

van de Ven is off to a poor start under Igor Tudor

Currently, van de Ven is having to do without his preferred centre-back partner because Cristian Romero is still injured, and this has likely had an impact on his performances.

However, the Dutchman does look like he is bothered by something, and perhaps he is not best pleased with the decision to part ways with Frank.

In our Spurs Web player ratings, van de Ven was rated five against Arsenal, and the trip to Fulham was even worse, as the defender received a four rating.

This is worrying to see, and Tottenham will need van de Ven back to his best in order to end their winless run on Thursday against Crystal Palace.

Xavi Simons reveals the most ‘underrated’ player at Tottenham, and they can’t even use him - Spurs Web
Description

Xavi Simons has struggled for consistent performances himself at Tottenham, but he believes one attacker deserves more credit.

Most Tottenham Hotspur fans would have been in agreement that Mohammed Kudus was the club’s signing of the summer a few months ago.

The right winger got off to a brilliant start in North London, with his dribbling skills and physicality on the ball second to none.

However, there were clear signs that Kudus was beginning to struggle at Tottenham, and after picking up an injury, he has been out of the team since the start of the year.

Xavi Simons brands Mohammed Kudus ‘underrated’ at Tottenham

While Kudus has received some mixed reviews at Spurs, Xavi Simons has been very happy playing alongside the former West Ham star.

The Dutchman has indicated that Kudus may have faced some unfair criticism, as he has still had some very good displays since he joined Tottenham.

When asked who the most underrated player was at Spurs, Simons replied: “Kudus”, which the 25-year-old will certainly appreciate.

Kudus could rediscover his early Spurs form

It felt like Kudus was beginning to lose his way a bit at Tottenham, but he would walk into the first team right now if he were fit enough.

Yes, he has not been perfect, but there have been moments when Kudus has really stepped up and pushed his team to some important victories.

With time on the sidelines to reflect on his season so far, Kudus will be able to come back stronger and show that he truly is the real deal.

Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham: How relegation could impact Spurs return - Spurs Web
Description

Mauricio Pochettino has made a decision on a possible Tottenham Hotspur return as the club teeters on the brink of disaster.

Spurs currently sit just four points clear of the drop zone, and it is hard to see where their next win is going to come from, with the Lilywhites still winless in the Premier League this calendar year.

Igor Tudor has been candid about the spate of problems affecting Tottenham, with the Croatian having very little time to put things right at N17.

Several pundits have already warned that Spurs are not too good to go down, and it has now been revealed how relegation will affect the club’s managerial search.

Mauricio Pochettino open to Tottenham return even if they get relegated

It has now been revealed by GiveMeSport’s Ben Jacobs that relegation from the Premier League may not affect Tottenham’s chances of bringing Pochettino back to the club.

Jacobs claims that the Argentine would be open to returning to his former stomping ground even if Spurs are in the Championship next term.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, he points out that Tottenham would find a need to pay top dollar to the 54-year-old, who is on a contract of around £90,000 a week with the United States.

Pochettino earned roughly £160,000 a week in his previous stint with the North London club.

Relegation expected to lead to mass exodus at Spurs

According to reports, many of Tottenham’s big-name stars will leave the club in the summer in the event of relegation.

The likes of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, James Maddison, Destiny Udogie, Dejan Kulusevski, and Xavi Simons are expected to be poached if the Lilywhites find themselves in the Championship.

Former referee ‘bemused’ by decision against Tottenham for second time in a week

Former referee ‘bemused’ by decision against Tottenham for second time in a week - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s recent run has been overshadowed by contentious officiating, and one former referees’ chief has now weighed in on the latest flashpoint.

Tottenham Hotspur’s last two outings have not been without controversy.

In their 4-1 defeat to Arsenal, Randal Kolo Muani believed he had restored parity at 2-2, only for his effort to be ruled out after officials deemed that he had nudged Gabriel Magalhaes in the back before finishing past David Raya.

There was further debate in Spurs’ subsequent clash with Fulham. Raul Jimenez appeared to shove Spurs centre-half Radu Dragusin during an aerial duel in the build-up to Wilson’s goal, yet the strike was allowed to stand, with the contact judged insufficient to warrant a foul.

The contrasting outcomes have left many questioning the consistency of decision-making in recent weeks.

Keith Hackett questions decision in Fulham vs Tottenham

Former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA referee Keith Hackett has now stated that Raul Jimenez should have been punished for a clear push on Dragusin on Sunday, 1 March.

Speaking to Football Insider about the incident and referee Thomas Bramall’s positioning, Hackett admitted he was surprised a free-kick was not awarded and questioned the wider interpretation of pushing offences.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He said: “Thomas Bramall is ideally positioned to judge this incident. Therefore, I am bemused that he did not award a free-kick for this push.

“A push is a push, and while there are different strengths, it is what the law states. A referee of his quality does not see that as a push? What advice has he received from the PGMOL management not to give a free-kick there?

“The bar is somehow being raised for pushing incidents. All that leads to is confusion. PGMOL referees need to sit together in a room to discuss handball and pushing.”

His remarks add further scrutiny to the decision that allowed Fulham’s goal to stand. To make matters worse, it was only a week before that Hackett called the decision to disallow Tottenham’s goal vs Arsenal ‘stupid’.

Spurs seek clarity amid refereeing inconsistencies

With decisions continuing to go against them, Tottenham have sought answers away from the pitch.

It was revealed that Spurs have written to PGMOL chief Howard Webb, seeking clarity over recent inconsistencies.

PGMOL have declined to comment, according to reports, but the move represents a first step for Tottenham as they fight to secure their Premier League status.

Tottenham should consider selling Cristian Romero: Arsenal legend offers Spurs advice

Tottenham should consider selling Cristian Romero: Arsenal legend offers Spurs advice - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur lost their captain last summer when Heung-min Son joined LAFC, and a former Arsenal defender has called on them to consider selling their skipper again.

Cristian Romero has been one of Tottenham Hotspur’s standout performers over the past few years, and he wore the captain’s armband in the Europa League final.

However, the 27-year-old’s discipline has gone out the window this season. This has caused him to be suspended on three separate occasions, due to accumulating too many yellow cards and two straight sending-offs.

The Argentine is still not allowed to play for Spurs after his red card at Old Trafford, and they are clearly not coping without him in the team.

Martin Keown thinks Tottenham should weigh up Cristian Romero’s future

Spurs have a strong defensive duo in Romero and Micky van de Ven, but they rarely played together last season due to injuries. This season has once again seen at least one of the players unavailable multiple times, but due to disciplinary reasons.

With Romero the bigger culprit of the pair, player-turned-pundit Martin Keown has suggested that Tottenham should consider whether it is really worth holding onto Romero.

He told Football London: “I think that’s been really expensive for the club [missing Romero], and he’s one of the players that they have to really look at as to whether he’s part of the future. Because, you know, he’s ill-disciplined.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“You need him back. They need one win, and they get out of trouble. I’m not sure where that’s coming now. They’ve lost their focus on where they are as a club. The whole culture at that football club is going to have to change.”

Spurs need to rebuild in the summer

If truth be told, Tottenham should not be afraid to sell any of their players after another diabolical domestic campaign.

Romero will certainly not be the first player the club look to sell, but a full squad rebuild is definitely needed to clear out the dead wood. As good as Romero is, there is no point having someone who is never available, so maybe Keown has a point.

You could certainly see a situation where Spurs cash in £60m for Romero or £100m for Van de Ven, before simply handing their respective position to Luka Vuskovic next season.

Tottenham could do something more ’embarrassing’ than relegation, says ex-Arsenal star

Tottenham could do something more ’embarrassing’ than relegation, says ex-Arsenal star - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are on the brink of embarrassment in the Premier League, but a former Arsenal women’s player has warned other European clubs of an even more shocking situation.

The Champions League is the only competition Tottenham Hotspur have any chance of winning this season, but even this feels like a huge stretch.

Yes, it is factually correct information, but nobody in their right mind is actually suggesting that Spurs will secure European football’s most coveted prize.

However, former Lioness Fara Williams has come up with a ‘what if’ scenario about Tottenham winning the Champions League and what that would say about the state of teams in Europe.

Fara Williams says Tottenham Champions League win would be embarrassing

Writing in her TNT Sports column, Williams has discussed the likelihood of Spurs winning the Champions League. According to the ex-England women’s international, this would be a bigger shock than Tottenham suffering relegation from the Premier League.

Williams also revealed that should this somehow happen, it would be embarrassing for clubs currently competing in the competition.

She wrote: “If you were to ask me what the bigger shock would be – Spurs getting relegated or Spurs winning the Champions League, I would say the latter.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“There are far superior teams than Spurs in the competition, so if they manage to somehow win the Champions League this season, I would say it is embarrassing for the rest of the teams in Europe.

“They have to start showing more consistency until the end of the season, and, once they avoid relegation from the Premier League, they can start to rethink everything in the summer.”

Spurs fans are not interested in conversations about the Champions League

If a Tottenham supporter is talking about going to Budapest, it is highly likely they are joking, unless they are living in a state of denial.

It is hard to disagree with Williams’ comments, but it is not clear why she is making them in the first place when no one expects Spurs to win the Champions League anyway.

Ultimately, this just feels like another football commentator looking to aim a dig at Tottenham by bringing up a scenario that will never happen.

We could be talking about what will happen if Manchester United win the Premier League, but it does not happen because everyone knows it is almost impossible. Therefore, discussions about Spurs should follow that same logic.

Description

Cristian Romero may be sidelined, but his latest social media activity has not gone unnoticed, as the Tottenham captain shows support for a former Spurs coach.

Tottenham Hotspur have yet to see their club captain take to the field since the appointment of interim boss Igor Tudor.

However, a return to action is now not far away, with Romero serving the final game of his ban when Spurs face Crystal Palace on Thursday.

That should see Romero back on March 15 when Tottenham travel to Liverpool at Anfield, a game they will hope to win as they fight to stay up.

Tottenham captain Cristian Romero shows support to Matt Wells on social media

Romero has often found himself in the spotlight for comments aimed at the Tottenham board, but with the club captain suspended, he has largely stayed away from any controversy.

The last time Romero took to social media to comment on a football matter, he voiced frustration over Spurs’ lack of options during the defeat to Manchester City.

Romero has once again taken to social media, but this time, he used the platform to show support for former Tottenham assistant coach Matt Wells.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Following Wells’ first home victory as Colorado Rapids head coach, Romero liked his Instagram post, to which the 27-year-old responded: “Yessssss”.

Wells was part of Ange Postecoglou’s coaching staff during the Australian’s time at Tottenham and also worked briefly under Thomas Frank before taking charge of the MLS side.

Since moving to the United States, the former Spurs assistant has overseen two matches for his new club.

His first fixture, away to Seattle Sounders FC, ended in a 2-0 defeat. However, in his second competitive match, and his first at home, he secured a 2-0 win over Portland.

He later wrote in the post Romero liked: “Brilliant to get our first win at home in front of our fans. Incredible atmosphere from start to finish.

“We’ve only been building for 5 weeks, but 25 shots show the attacking team we want to be. Lots to improve, but proud of the players, they were fearless. Now we focus on the week ahead”.
