Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a move for an exciting Brazilian forward, but their plans may be affected by what happened this week.

Tottenham are already begun making plans for the summer window, which will be Roberto De Zerbi’s first one in charge of the club.

One would expect the Lilywhites to prioritise strengthening their attack, given that they sold Brennan Johnson without replacing him in January, and have subsequently lost both Mohammed Kudus and Wilson Odobert to injury.

The North Londoners showed with their acquisition of Souza in January that their scouts are watching the best young talents in South America, and they have now turned their attention to a Brazilian forward.

Tottenham have made checks on Corinthians winger Kayke Ferrari

Sport Witness are claiming to have heard from their sources that Spurs have made ‘informal checks’ on Corinthians starlet Kayke Ferrari, who has been impressing since breaking into the first-team.

The 21-year-old winger has scored twice in 14 appearances across 2026, and his performances have attracted attention from other English clubs as well.

Kayke, who is known for his dribbling, could be the next Brazilian export to the Premier League, but it is made clear that Corinthians are yet to receive a formal approach for the player.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report states that Tottenham have just conducted ‘early-stage monitoring’ and are yet to decide whether to push forward with a move.

Kayke’s injury blow may force Spurs to change their plans

Sport Witness reveal that even if Tottenham were considering pushing forward with an offer for the winger, they may now have to reconsider.

This is because Kayke was forced off with an injury in Corinthians’ 1-0 win over Barra, and he was seen in tears as he came off.

While there has not been a confirmed diagnosis yet on the 21-year-old, there are fears in Brazil that he may have sustained an ACL injury.

Description

Roberto De Zerbi has only been at Tottenham for a matter of weeks, but has still already seen six new injuries in his squad.

This afternoon saw Spurs take a decisive step in the direction of relegation survival as Roberto De Zerbi’s side managed to snatch all three points in their 1-0 win at the Mollineux, thus ending a winless streak which reached all the way back to last year.

Joao Palhinha’s deft finish in the 83rd minute ended up being the difference maker between the two sides but the proceedings in the West Midlands gave Spurs fans as much hope as it did things to worry about.

Tottenham add Solanke and Simons to growing injury list

Roberto De Zerbi would have preferred to make no forced substitutions but if he had made any pleas they certainly fell on deaf ears as Dominic Solanke pulled up with a hamstring injury in the 40th minute.

Until that moment Solanke was actually putting in a solid performance but the English striker pulled out of a challenge in the middle of the pitch, was unable to continue and had to be substituted for Richarlison.

If Solanke had been the only casualty of the afternoon perhaps, with backup options at striker available to Roberto De Zerbi in Richarlison and Kolo Muani, Spurs fan could have swallowed the bitter news ever so sweetened by a hard fought victory.

MORE SPURS STORIES

But when it rains it pours at Tottenham and in the 63rd minute Xavi Simons who was chasing down a loose ball, seemed to have misplaced his foot and went down in a whole lot of pain, gripping his knee. He was quickly tended to by the medical staff and, as Simons seemed hell bent on continuing, allowed him back on the pitch.

Xavi was unable to run off the injury and he collapsed dramatically by the touchline only to be stretchered off the pitch.

In his press conference after the game Roberto De Zerbi gave the following updates regarding the newest additions to Spurs’ injury list:

“For Xavi it is a problem of his knee. We go to see in the next days. Monday or Tuesday. For Solanke it is not a big problem. I don’t know how many games we lose him but I would like to know the situation with Xavi because the knee is always different than the muscular injury. (…) He felt pain. Now I spoke to him two, three minutes ago. He feels better than the beginning of the injury.”

Tottenham fans can only hope that the two players won’t be kept out for too long as Spurs will need all the fire power they can get to try and avoid relegation.

Results elsewhere did not exactly go Spurs’ way either…

West Ham’s home win against Everton, which keeps the gap between Spurs and West and the Hammers at two points, might make some in the fanbase feel like Spurs are actually worse off than they started.

When can we expect Spurs players to return?

Spurs are still of course missing the services of James Maddison who was sat on the bench today. Roberto De Zerbi confirmed Maddison is not fully fit yet after suffering a small setback during the week but hopefully his time on the sidelines is coming to an end quickly.

Pape Matar Sarr was unavailable to play after suffering a shoulder injury and De Zerbi will probably provide us with further information during his press conference ahead of the trip to Villa Park.

Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario are both set to return back to training this week, with De Zerbi hopeful they could be ready for the clash against Villa.

Tottenham Hotspur made a scouting mission to South America last Sunday as they made preparations for the summer window.

With the Lilywhites not assured of their place in the Premier League just yet, reports indicate that Spurs are making two distinct plans for the summer window.

The expectation is that Tottenham will undertake an ambitious rebuild of their squad if they avoid relegation.

While Spurs fans will be hoping that the club secure proven performers, who can hit the ground running, the North Londoners are continuing to have their eye out for the best young talent in South America.

Tottenham scouts spotted in Cruzeiro’s clash against Gremio

The Lilywhites showed with their acquisition of Souza in January that they are keeping an eye on the starlets making a name for themselves in the Brazilian top-flight.

According to a report in Central da Toca, officials from Tottenham were spotted in attendance in the stands during Cruzeiro’s 2-0 win over Grêmio at the Mineirao last weekend.

It is unclear which player the Premier League were running the rule over in Belo Horizonte. Goals from Lucas Romero and Christian sealed a 2-0 win for the home side, but the report asserts that neither player is on Tottenham’s summer wishlist.

Spurs’ London rivals have failed with a move for Cruzeiro striker

Sport Witness speculates that Cruzeiro striker Kaio Jorge may have been the player the Lilywhites officials were observing, with the striker having scored 42 times in 85 appearances for the Brazilian club.

They reveal that West Ham failed with a move for the centre-forward in the January window as Cruzerio refused to entertain offers less than €50m (£43.5m) for their star man.

The website suggests that the other man on Spurs’ radar could have been Cruzerio’s left-back Kaio Jorge, who came close to completing a €12.5m (£10.8m) move to Como in January.

How much Tottenham have paid in compensation to sacked managers will shock fans - Spurs Web
Description

We take a look at how much compensation Tottenham Hotspur have paid to sack managers across the Premier League era, and how it compares to the other big six clubs.

Spurs have not been able to have much consistency in the dugout since Mauricio Pochettino’s departure in 2019, with plenty of managers coming and going over the past seven years.

The most recent permanent manager to be sacked (Igor Tudor was an interim) was Thomas Frank, who was paid a compensation of £8m by Spurs after lasting just eight months in the job.

Tottenham want Roberto De Zerbi to break that trend and oversee a long-term project at N17 after handing the Italian a five-year deal.

Tottenham have spent the second most on sacking managers out of the big six

FootballBlog.co.uk have crunched the numbers and revealed how much each of the big six clubs have paid in compensation to sacked managers across the Premier League era.

Fans will not be surprised to hear that Chelsea have spent the most on compensation, with the Blues having sacked 18 manages and paid a whopping £161.6m in total to managers on their way out.

Tottenham are second on the list, with the club paying £66.5m in compensation cumulatively to the 14 managers they have sacked since the inception of the Premier League.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Man United are not too behind, having paid £62.03m to outgoing managers, but they have paid that amount to just six managers.

Which former Spurs manager has received the biggest payoff?

No Tottenham manager features in the list of top five most expensive managerial sackings in the Premier League era, with the £26.6m compensation paid to Antonio Conte by Chelsea in 2018 holding the record.

The most Spurs have paid to an outgoing manager is when they sacked Nuno Espirito Santo in 2021, with the Portugese being the seventh most expensive sacking in Premier League history.

Nuno lasted just 124 days in the Tottenham hotseat after replacing Jose Mourinho, and he recieved a whopping £14m on his way out of the club.

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal could go head-to-head for a South American teenager who has been turning a lot of heads in Europe over recent months.

Spurs face a tricky time in planning for the summer window, as the club are still not assured of their place in the Premier League next season.

Reports have indicated that Tottenham are making two distinct plans for their first transfer window under Roberto De Zerbi, depending on whether they stay up or go down.

One of those seemingly involves a young Colombian midfielder, but the Lilywhites may face plenty of competition for his services.

Tottenham could battle Arsenal and Bayern Munich for Samuel Martinez

Journalist Philipp Kessler has now revealed that Tottenham are considering a move for 17-year-old midfield starlet Samuel Martinez.

The teenager, who is a number ten by trade, is viewed as one of the most promising young talents in Colombian football, having won many admirers with his performances for Atletico Nacional’s youth sides.

However, the German journalist revealed that Martinez, who has been likened by some to Brazilian legend Kaka, is also on the radars of both Bayern Munich and the Lilywhites’ North London rivals.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Kessler wrote on X: “FC Bayern is comparing the Colombia gem Samuel Martinez to Brazil legend Kaka. Alongside the Bavarians, Tottenham and Arsenal have also joined the race for the attacking talent around the U17 South American Championship final.”

Five other clubs have scouted Martinez this season

GiveMeSport have relayed Kessler’s report and have provided their own information on how the race for the Atletico Nacional starlet is shaping up.

They reveal that Martinez is keen on a move to Europe this summer and suggest that he could be available for a ‘bargain’ fee.

However, the outlet says that the competition for the teenager could intensify as he has recently been scouted by Chelsea, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Benfica.

Tottenham could be handed chance to sign Man City star on a free transfer this summer - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur may be handed a golden chance to sign one of their long-term targets following the latest update on his future at Manchester City.

The Tottenham backline may see some big changes ahead of next season, with reports indicating that both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven could leave Spurs this summer.

Luka Vuskovic has been tipped to be a regular starter for Tottenham next season after shining on loan at Hamburg, but Roberto De Zerbi may also want to add some experience to his backline.

It has now been revealed that the Lilywhites could get a golden opportunity to land an England international, who has been on their radar for a long time.

Tottenham could land John Stones on a free transfer

GiveMeSport have now claimed that John Stones has been admired at Tottenham for a long time, with their interest in the centre-back going back more than five years.

It is revealed that the most serious approach that Spurs made for the centre-back was back in 2020, when they proposed a loan deal with the option to make it permanent for £20m.

That offer was turned down by City, even though the former Everton man was not playing regularly at the time, but the Lilywhites could get a chance to finally get their man this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report says that Stones is set to move on from the Etihad Stadium when his contract runs out this summer, with no sign of a new deal being offered by Pep Guardiola’s side.

Stones’ injury record may be a big concern for Spurs

The 31-year-old is a proven performer in the Premier League and, given his ability on the ball, should fit seamlessly into Roberto De Zerbi’s system.

However, the England international continues to be plagued by injuries, with his thigh problems restricting him to just 15 appearances for City this term.

Given the injury problems Tottenham have had in their last two seasons, the club may be hesitant to add another injury-prone player to their squad.

Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres names two Tottenham legends while building his perfect player - Spurs Web
Description

Arsenal fans may not be too pleased with what Viktor Gyokeres just said about two former Tottenham Hotspur icons.

The two North London clubs find themselves at opposite ends of the table, but the pressure is on both clubs ahead of their final five league games.

While Tottenham are desperately trying to remain in the Premier League at West Ham’s expense, Mikel Arteta’s men are involved in a tussle with Manchester City for the League title.

However, the Gunners faithful may not be too impressed by what their top scorer this season has said about two former Spurs stars.

Viktor Gyokeres is a big fan of two former Tottenham strikers

Gyokeres, who has scored 18 goals in all competitions for the Gunners this season, was tasked with building his ultimate striker.

The Swedish international had to name one striker for each attribute in a segment with TNT Sports, and he named former Spurs icons for two of the attributes.

When asked whose finishing was the best in world football, Gyokeres did not hesitate to pick Tottenham’s record goalscorer, Harry Kane.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked which striker’s first touch is the best, the Arsenal man selected Dimitar Berbatov, who scored 46 goals in his two seasons at White Hart Lane before making the move to Man United in 2008.

Arsenal could aid Spurs’ attempts to stay up

Arsenal could end up playing a key role in Tottenham’s quest for survival in the Premier League this season.

This is because Arteta’s men travel to the London Stadium on May 10th to take on West Ham, who are directly battling the Lilywhites for 17th place.

While Arsenal fans would undoubtedly prefer to see Tottenham go down, the Gunners will be extremely keen to beat the Hammers, given that the title race looks set to go down to the wire.

Three winners and three losers from Tottenham’s late 1-0 win over Wolves

Three winners and three losers from Tottenham’s late 1-0 win over Wolves - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur finally secured their first Premier League win of 2026 with a narrow 1-0 victory away to Wolves.

It was a tense affair at the Mollineux this afternoon as Spurs held the lion’s share of the possession but nonetheless struggled to create any meaningful threat to the Wolves goal for the majority of the game.

Things got especially bleak when Dominic Solanke and Xavi Simons both had to be substituted with what seems like serious injuries, all the while West Ham were leading Everton and extended Spurs’ distance to safety to four points.

But Joao Palhniha’s late heroics secured a 1-0 win for Spurs and offered the club a glimmer of hope in their uphill battle against relegation.

Although West Ham’s late winner against Everton keeps the gap between Tottenham and the Hammers at two points, Spurs nonetheless took a decisive step in the direction of Premier League survival.

Here are our three biggest winners and losers from Spurs’ melee in the West Midlands.

Joao Palhinha was Tottenham’s late hero

Palhinha’s entry to the field couldn’t have been in more unfortunate circumstances as he was forced to come on for what looked like a severely injured Xavi Simons. But his substitution turned out to be fortuitous after all.

MORE SPURS STORIES

After an 83rd-minute corner fell to Richarlison, who put his shot wide, Palhinha showcased his attacking instincts and managed to redirect the ball into the Wolves net, thus scoring his 4th goal for Spurs this season.

Although West Ham’s late winner against Everton kept the gap between Tottenham and the Hammers at two points, the Portuguese midfielder’s effort pulled Tottenham out of the relegation zone for a blissful few minutes, hopefully giving the players a big emotional boost. If Spurs manage to stay up now, his will be the goal that started it all.

Antonin Kinsky shows his true colours

But Palhinha’s goal could have been all four naught if not for the incredible late save from Antonin Kinsky. Joao Gomes’ dagger of a freekick was heading right for the top corner and into the hearts of the Spurs fans watching, before Kinsky pulled out a stunning save that kept the scoreline at 1-0 to Spurs.

The Czech goalkeeper actually enjoyed a very impressive afternoon and showed he’s a genuine contender for the number one shirt over the currently injured Guglielmo Vicario.

His brilliant intervention spared Kevin Danso his blushes when the Austrian defender nearly let through a Wolves attacker on goal. Perhaps most importantly for Roberto De Zerbi, he was incredibly comfortable in possession, showing off a few really impressive passes that helped relieve the pressure on the Spurs backline.

Mathys Tel earns his spot in the Tottenham team

Mathys Tel’s performance is all the more impressive as contrast to the rather meek effort showed by his compatriot Randal Kolo Muani. Tel came on for Muani at half time and immediately showed his best qualities.

His tenacity, positivity and never-say-die attitude was a welcome addition to the team and he also won the corner that actually led to the Spurs goal. Tel definitely staked his claim for the starting right winger for this Spurs team.

But what about the three losers on the day?

Xavi Simons forced off with a serious injury

Xavi Simon’s day quickly went from bad to worse. He struggled to make a genuine impact during the first half and seemed to have seriously injured his knee in the second half. He was allowed back on the pitch by the medical team but then quickly collapsed again and had to be stretchered off.

We are yet to know the extent of the injury, but Xavi Simons was the creative spark for Spurs in the last few games and, if long term, his absence will be keenly felt around Hotspur Way.

Dominic Solanke’s positive start ends in disappointment

Dominic Solanke is yet another name added to the injury list at the club that just can’t catch a break…

His cameo against Wolves showed a lot of promise as the English striker was his usual energetic self, chasing down loose balls, holding up play, putting in defensive contributions and pressing the opposing backline. It’s hard to tell how his afternoon would have turned out otherwise but, after pulling out of a challenge, unfortunately Solanke had to be substituted off for Richarlison

Another massive name that will be missing for Spurs.

Randal Kolo Muani does not cover himself in glory for Tottenham

Kolo Muani didn’t cover himself in glory and was hooked at half-time by De Zerbi. Despite a relatively bright first quarter of an hour when the Frenchman got on the end of a few long balls from Pedro Porro and managed to cause some trouble for the Wolves defence, he afterwards failed to impose himself on the game in any meaningful way. He was at fault for Spurs losing possession a few times and we’ll be surprised to see him start next week.

De Zerbi provides positive Tottenham injury update on Xavi Simons and Dominic Solanke - Spurs Web
Description

Roberto De Zerbi has now provided an injury update on Dominic Solanke and Xavi Simons following Tottenham’s victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Tottenham Hotspur finally brought an end to their winless run in 2026 with a 1-0 victory over already relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, a ground they have struggled at in recent games.

It was not the prettiest of wins for Spurs, but it was exactly what they needed to keep their hopes of avoiding relegation alive.

A late strike from Joao Palhinha ensured Tottenham walked away with all three points after a scramble in the box, handing Roberto De Zerbi his first Spurs win after three games.

Unfortunately for the Tottenham boss, though, the victory came at a cost as several players picked up injuries.

Spurs already have nine players sidelined, and that number could rise following injuries to Dominic Solanke and Xavi Simons.

Solanke was forced off before half-time after holding his hamstring, while Simons’ issue looked more serious following a knock to his knee.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Providing an update on both players while speaking to football.london, Roberto De Zerbi explained the nature of the injuries and offered early insight into their severity.

He said: “Solanke a muscular injury, Xavi it’s a problem with his knee. We go to see in the next few days. Solanke it’s not a big problem, I don’t know how many games we lose him.”

Simons, who was the standout performer in the previous gameweek against Brighton, struggled to influence proceedings in the first half. However, in the second forty-five, he began to grow into the match before sustaining his injury.

Speaking further on the midfielder’s condition, De Zerbi highlighted the uncertainty around knee issues while offering a cautious update after speaking with the player.

He said: “I would like to know more about Xavi though because you know the knee, it’s always different to the muscles.

“He felt pain but now I spoke with him and he feels better than the beginning when he got his injury.”

Five things we learned from Tottenham's 1-0 win over Wolves as Xavi Simons leaves on a stretcher - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur finally secured their first Premier League win of 2026 thanks to a late Joao Palhinha strike against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Let us take a look at the five things we learned.

Tottenham end 118-day wait for Premier League win

It took Tottenham Hotspur 118 days to secure their first win since they last tasted victory against Crystal Palace on December 28, a game they won 1-0.

It was a similar scoreline this time around against Wolves, as Spurs fought hard for their first win in 2026.

The goal came from a scramble in the box before Richarlison’s shot was steered into the Wolves’ goal by Joao Palhinha, who was a substitute.

Spurs had to dig deep afterwards as Wolves looked to peg them back late on, with Antonin Kinsky pulling off a world-class save late in the game after Joao Gomes came close from a free-kick.

Roberto De Zerbi will now be hoping his side can build on this display with four games left in the league season.

Where does that leave Spurs in the table?

It certainly is a crucial victory for Tottenham, given their struggles in the Premier League this campaign.

MORE SPURS STORIES

In the build-up to the match, the game was labelled a must-win for Spurs as they needed a win to improve their chance of avoiding the drop.

Tottenham could also have leapfrogged the bottom three into 17th with a victory, but that was dependent on West Ham United losing or drawing to Everton.

For a moment, when Spurs went in front, they found themselves out of the bottom three as the Hammers were pegged back by Everton after going in front.

However, it did not last as Nuno’s men secured a late goal themselves, with Wilson striking in the dying moments, sending Spurs back into the bottom three.

The victory over Wolves, however, leaves Tottenham two points adrift of safety, as opposed to four had they drawn the game.

Tottenham suffer fresh injury concerns with Xavi Simons and Dominic Solanke

We had reported that Tottenham could have been without just five players ahead of the game against Wolves.

Roberto De Zerbi’s press conference, however, revealed that even more players had picked up knocks, leaving Spurs with nine players out before the game.

The last thing Tottenham would have wanted in this run-in was more injuries, but that was exactly what they were met with against Wolves.

Xavi Simons was forced off in the second half after taking a knock to his knee, and it did not look good for the Tottenham man, as it could well be an ACL injury.

We will have to wait for an update from Roberto De Zerbi. The Dutchman was not the only one forced off, with Dominic Solanke taken off before the second half after picking up what looked like a hamstring problem.

The potential absence of these two players, will now take Spurs’ list of injured players back into double figures with four games to play.

Spurs must consider Mathys Tel over Randal Kolo Muani

Roberto De Zerbi has hinted at wanting to stick with a consistent starting XI, as he wants his players to build familiarity in the final games of the season.

We have seen him name the same XI in the last two outings; however, there is a feeling he is not entirely convinced by everyone, as he often opts to take off Randal Kolo Muani.

There is no denying the Frenchman has struggled to have an impact at Tottenham, a struggle that goes back beyond De Zerbi’s appointment.

Muani offers little in attack for Spurs, especially out wide, where he rarely beats his man or provides creativity.

Mathys Tel, on the other hand, looks like a better option, offering direct running and creativity. He takes on his man well and is not afraid to hit the byline to deliver crosses or cut inside and shoot – qualities rarely seen from Muani.

Tottenham must improve performance levels ahead of Aston Villa clash

At this stage of the season, especially against Wolves, the result was the most important thing for Tottenham, who could not afford to drop more points after their relegation rivals secured victories.

However, such a display, if carried into the next game against Aston Villa, will do little to help Spurs secure another win.

In the first half, Spurs barely tested Jose Sa, not managing a single shot on target. Across the entire game, Tottenham registered just two shots on target and created only one big chance, with their biggest threat coming from set-pieces. It has to improve against Villa next week if they are to get a result.
