Tottenham player ratings vs Wolves as 8/10 trio lead Spurs to first win of 2026 - Spurs Web
Description

The full-time whistle has been blown in the match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur at Molineux Stadium, and it is time for our player ratings.

A late goal from Joao Palhinha ensured Tottenham secured all three points in their all-important relegation clash with Wolves. However, West Ham United also secured victory against Everton, leaving Spurs in the bottom three.

Let us take a look at how the individual players got on.

Tottenham player ratings vs Wolves

Antonin Kinsky – The Czech international had little to do in the first half, but showed his sharpness after the break when Armstrong looked to capitalise on an error from Micky van de Ven and Kevin Danso. He was then forced into a fine save late in the second half after Joao Gomes came very close from a free kick. 8.

Pedro Porro – After an impressive first-half display, Porro picked up where he left off, creating the first big chance of the second half by releasing Xavi Simons, although the Dutchman could not keep his effort down. He continued to pose a lot of questions to Wolves’ defence with his crosses from deep. 8.

Kevin Danso – The Tottenham centre-back posed a set-piece threat in the first half, but was less involved after the break. He did come close to another costly error, however, after a short header allowed Armstrong in, only for Kinsky to bail him out. 6.5.

Micky van de Ven – Largely untroubled in the first half, but appeared to switch off in the second as a long ball allowed Armstrong through, with van de Ven not doing enough to stop the danger. 6.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Djed Spence – He held width well in the first half and offered support down the left in the absence of Destiny Udogie. In the second half, he continued in a similar role but was largely ineffective in the final third, often holding on to the ball for too long. 5.

Rodrigo Bentancur – Composed in midfield, he dictated play with neat one-touch passing and close control. He continued that in the second half, also joining attacks when needed, although he was booked and saw a fine headed effort saved. 8.

Yves Bissouma – A solid first-half display saw him protect the back four and support attacks, but he lacked sharpness and was eventually replaced in the second half. 7.

Conor Gallagher – He brought energy to the Tottenham press in the first half and continued to harry the Wolves defence after the break. His pressing led to a booking after he arrived late on a loose ball, but he did little to help Spurs create chances. 6.5.

Xavi Simons – Quiet in the first half, but came alive after the break, going close when played through by Porro before firing over. He later picked up a knee knock and was substituted. 5.

Dominic Solanke – He had little service in the first half and was forced off before the break after picking up what looked like a hamstring injury. 5.

Randal Kolo Muani – He had Spurs’ best chance of the first half but fired wide after capitalising on a loose ball. He struggled to influence proceedings thereafter and was withdrawn at half-time. 4.

Substitutes

Richarlison – He replaced Solanke and, like the striker, had limited opportunities, but did manage to register an assist following a scramble in the box from a Pedro Porro corner. 6.

Mathys Tel – He came on and looked bright, and full of running. The goal may go to Palhinha, but Tel earned that corner from absolutely nothing. 7.5.

Lucas Bergvall – Introduced for Xavi Simons, he operated in the number ten role but saw little of the ball. Did well to get Spurs up the pitch in the final minutes though. 6.

Description

The half-time whistle has blown in the Premier League match between Wolves and Tottenham, and it’s time for our player ratings.

Tottenham go into the break level in their all-important relegation encounter with Wolves, while West Ham United also remain goalless in their game against Everton, leaving Spurs still in the bottom three.

Let us take a look at how the individual players got on.

Antonin Kinsky – The Czech international has not been tested in this match, with Wolves yet to register an effort on target. 6.

Pedro Porro – He started brightly, delivering a few dangerous balls into the box from dead-ball situations that led to half-chances. From open play, he also looked a threat, often overlapping and underlapping Kolo Muani to flash dangerous deliveries into the area. 7.

Kevin Danso – The centre-back came close to an assist after meeting Pedro Porro’s cross and heading the ball towards the back post, but Dominic Solanke could not connect. 6.

Micky van de Ven – Wolves have barely tested the Tottenham backline, leaving van de Ven with little to do defensively. He has seen plenty of the ball as Spurs circulate possession at the back. 6.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Djed Spence – Deployed at left-back in place of the injured Destiny Udogie, Spence has looked sharp, picking his moments to join the attack while also maintaining width on that flank. 5.5.

Rodrigo Bentancur – The Uruguayan has been sharp in midfield, using the ball well and mixing one-touch passing with neat dribbles in tight spaces. He has also ventured forward to support attacks. 7.

Yves Bissouma – The Malian has been positive in possession, showing willingness to play forward and support attacks when required. He has linked well with Spence and remained disciplined defensively, winning the ball in midfield. 7.

Conor Gallagher – He has pressed from the front and shown the energy to drop deep and assist in midfield. He has reached the byline on a few occasions, but his final delivery has lacked quality. 5.

Xavi Simons – Operating from the left, the Dutchman has been given licence to drift inside, where he has looked to carry the ball forward. No goal contributions so far. 5.

Dominic Solanke – The forward has had little service in front of goal and has contributed by leading the press. He has drifted wide at times to link play and also made a crucial block in the box during a Wolves attack. He was later substituted after appearing to suffer a hamstring injury. 5.

Randal Kolo Muani – He had a good chance early on after capitalising on a loose Wolves pass, but failed to take advantage, firing wide of the post. 4.

Wolves vs Tottenham Hotspur: Confirmed team line-ups as Djed Spence starts - Spurs Web
Description

The Tottenham Hotspur starting line-up for the Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers has been confirmed ahead of kick-off.

Tottenham Hotspur’s winless run in 2026 continues, and they will be hoping to bring it to an end this afternoon when they take on an already relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The last time the two sides met, the spoils were shared as Tottenham fought hard to secure a draw after Wolves led for most of the game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

A draw at this stage of the season, however, will not bode well for Spurs, who sit in the bottom three, two points adrift of safety, with five games left to play.

Nottingham Forest’s win over Sunderland last night has made it a likely shoot-out between Tottenham and West Ham for who avoids the drop to the Championship.

Destiny Udogie misses out through injury

Tottenham’s record at Molineux in recent times has been far from good, as they are without a win in their last three visits, and Roberto De Zerbi must now turn that around to keep Spurs’ survival hopes alive.

Coming into the game, the Tottenham boss still has to contend with injuries. It had looked as though the injury crisis was easing, but a couple more players have picked up knocks, with Destiny Udogie ruled out of the Wolves clash and not included in the matchday squad.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Cristian Romero, Mohammed Kudus, James Maddison, Ben Davies and Wilson Odobert all remain sidelined long-term, while Maddison is in the squad only to provide a confidence boost to his teammates.

Meanwhile, Dejan Kulusevski is out for the rest of the season, while Guglielmo Vicario could return next gameweek.

This is the Tottenham team that takes to the field at Molineux this afternoon:

Tottenham Hotspur XI: Kinsky, Porro, Danso, van de Ven, Spence, Gallagher, Bentancur, Kolo Muani, Bissouma, Simons, Solanke

Subs: Austin, Drăgușin, Souza, Palhinha, Maddison, Gray, Bergvall, Richarlison, Tel

Wolves: José Sá; Lima, Doherty, Toti, Santi Bueno, Hugo Bueno; João Gomes, André, Mateus Mane; Rodrigo Gomes; Armstrong

Anthony Taylor will officiate this afternoon’s encounter, and Spurs may well fancy their chances given their record under the match official.

Spurs must deliver as relegation rivals pull clear

Spurs are at a stage where slip-ups can no longer be tolerated, with most of their relegation rivals finding form.

Leeds United have gone nine points clear of Tottenham, having already hit the 40-point mark, which could guarantee their safety, although they have played a game more.

Nottingham Forest have also given themselves breathing room after beating Sunderland earlier this gameweek and are eight points clear of Spurs, while West Ham United play at the same time as Tottenham.

Description

A new report has shed light on whether Tottenham Hotspur are open to cashing in on Dejan Kulusevski, who is attracting interest ahead of the summer.

The Swede is continuing to recover from a knee injury, which he suffered last May, and has thus been unable to help his Tottenham teammates in their bid to stay in the Premier League.

Spurs are expected to offload many of their highest earners in the summer if they get relegated, with experts making it clear that the Lilywhites would need to reduce their wage bill significantly if they go down.

Some pundits have tipped Kulusevski to be poached by a bigger club if Spurs do not stay in the top-flight, and a new report has shed light on the North London club’s stance.

AC Milan want Dejan Kulusevski but Tottenham have no plans to sell him

CalcioMercato have now claimed that the 25-year-old is still hoping to return before the end of Tottenham’s season, but his ultimate goal is to be ready for the World Cup.

The outlet claims names AC Milan as a potential contender for Kulusevski’s signature this summer, given the attacking midfielder’s exploits in the Serie A ahead of his move to N17.

However, they conclude that ‘his future is likely to be at Tottenham’ next season and assert that the Premier League side currently have no plans of offloading him at ‘such a critical point in his career’.

Roberto De Zerbi wants to keep Kulusevski even if Spurs get relegated

CalcioMercato also say that that despite the Lilywhites’ current predicament, the former Juventus man has never expressed a desire to leave the club.

It is explained that Kulusevski’s main focus at the moment is on returning to the pitch and getting back to performing consistently at the highest level.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur could face a significant battle to retain Micky van de Ven this summer as a Premier League rival reportedly prepares a substantial move that may hinge on the final top-flight standing of the North London club.

Spurs Web reported yesterday that the dismissal of Liam Rosenior at Chelsea could result in Tottenham Hotspur facing a significant managerial bounce when the two sides meet in matchweek 37.

Should a resurgence occur at Stamford Bridge, it will make it considerably more difficult for Tottenham to secure a vital victory over their rivals when they visit the ground later this month.

Spurs currently sit in the Premier League’s bottom three and, with only five fixtures remaining, the pressure to put wins on the board is immense.

Failure to secure their top-flight status is widely expected to lead to a mass exodus, with several key individuals already attracting interest from elite European clubs.

Tottenham face Micky van de Ven transfer interest from Chelsea

We reported earlier this week that Micky van de Ven’s off-field antics are signalling that the Dutchman’s time in north London could be coming to an end.

The 25-year-old centre-back has plenty of suitors ahead of the summer, with Liverpool, Manchester United and Real Madrid all showing interest in signing the Spurs defender.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Chelsea have now entered the race, according to Fichajes, who claim that the Blues’ sacking of Liam Rosenior has led to a potential managerial replacement, Xabi Alonso, calling for Van de Ven to be signed.

It is understood that the former Real Madrid manager wants Chelsea to strengthen their defensive unit, with Van de Ven one of his targets.

Spurs remain in control of Micky van de Ven future despite relegation threat

Regardless of the growing interest in the Dutch international, Tottenham still hold all the cards in any negotiations, meaning his suitors will not land him easily.

The Lilywhites are in a position to demand a hefty fee if they are forced to sell, with reports claiming that a figure of £100 million could be requested for Micky van de Ven.

However, should Tottenham fail to retain their Premier League status, they might find it increasingly difficult to keep hold of their pacy centre-back.

The player will undoubtedly be keen to continue playing at the highest level and could potentially force a move away if the club drops into the Championship.

‘They want us down’ – Tottenham fans left fuming by latest Premier League announcement

Description

Tottenham Hotspur supporters have reacted with a mixture of anger and resignation following an admission from the Premier League’s Key Match Incidents (KMI) panel that a pivotal decision went against the club during their recent defeat against Sunderland.

Many Tottenham Hotspur fans will be biting their nails as their club continues its fight to beat the drop this season.

For the first time since 1970, Spurs’ Premier League status has come under significant threat as they sit in the bottom three, two points adrift of safety.

Every single point counts at this stage of the season, and the margin for error is incredibly slim with only five games left to go.

Tottenham fans react to Brian Brobbey KMI admission after Cristian Romero injury

Roberto De Zerbi is the latest manager to take charge of Tottenham as they continue their fight to beat the drop. The former Brighton manager has overseen two games since his appointment, neither of which has been free of chaos.

In his first outing, Spurs lost their captain, Cristian Romero, to injury after Brian Brobbey pushed him into Antonin Kinsky during the 1-0 defeat to Sunderland.

That challenge has sparked split opinion over whether a sending-off was warranted. While Brobbey was not dismissed during the game, the Premier League’s key match incidents (KMI) panel has since ruled that he should have received a second booking, despite former referee Dermot Gallagher backing the on-field decision by Rob Jones.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham fans have reacted angrily to the latest admission, with one supporter stating: “Bit late now ain’t it lads”, while another added: “Great so what we gonna do with that @FA_PGMOL gonna give us points? No? F**k you”. A third commented: “So it is confirmed they want us down this ain’t fair”, and another wrote: “Great stuff thanks, knowing it will help in the Championship”.

Further reactions continued in a similar tone, with one fan saying: “I will take two pens for Spurs and a Wolves sending off as a start towards our compensation”, while another dismissed the review entirely: “These ‘oopsies poopsies’ reviews after the fact help nobody. It is all performative to cover the bad refereeing”.

One more added: “Everyone thought this except the people making the decision”, while another concluded: “Disgusting officiating throughout the game. Too late now, he should have been off the pitch with two yellows before that even happened. Injured our captain out for the rest of the season and possibly the World Cup, and also our goalkeeper.”

Spurs cannot afford more refereeing setbacks in relegation fight

Tottenham fans have every reason to feel hard done by, as this is not the first time they have been on the wrong end of a poor refereeing decision.

They have already seen inconsistencies in decision-making at various points this season, with similar incidents judged differently by match officials.

Randal Kolo Muani’s push on Gabriel in the north London derby was ruled a foul, while a near-identical one by Hugo Ekitike on Cristian Romero was deemed legal.

Description

Roberto De Zerbi has now issued a six-word response to the latest admission from the Premier League’s Key Match Incidents (KMI) panel following the decision not to send Brian Brobbey off in Tottenham’s clash against Sunderland.

Tottenham Hotspur have barely had any luck this season, especially on the injury front, with several players sidelined.

In fact, recent data has Spurs at the top of the table for the unluckiest side in the Premier League this season, with their injuries the number one contributing factor.

However, that misfortune has not been limited to just injuries, with certain decisions on the pitch hardly going their way.

Many fans will remember the push on Gabriel by Randal Kolo Muani in the last north London derby that saw the Frenchman’s goal disallowed, while a similar incident saw Cristian Romero penalised after he pushed Hugo Ekitike.

Roberto De Zerbi reacts Brian Brobbey red card admission

In the recent fixture against Sunderland, yet another refereeing decision went against Spurs when Black Cats forward Brian Brobbey pushed Romero into Antonin Kinsky.

This challenge proved costly as Romero was forced off the pitch with an injury that is now expected to keep him sidelined for five to seven weeks, effectively ending his season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Brian Brobbey initially escaped punishment for the incident, receiving no booking despite the severity of the push, but the Premier League Key Match Incidents (KMI) panel has now admitted that the forward should have been sent off.

In a narrowly decided 3:2 vote, the panel ruled that referee Rob Jones made a serious error by failing to issue a second yellow card to the Dutch attacker.

Roberto De Zerbi was asked for his thoughts after being informed that the Premier League KMI panel had admitted Brian Brobbey should have been dismissed, and the Tottenham head coach offered a sharp, six-word response regarding the outcome of the match.

Speaking to the media on the futility of the admission after the points had already been dropped, the Italian asked: “Can we play again that game?”

Tottenham face Wolves trip as Anthony Taylor record provides hope

With the margins for survival currently so slim, everyone at the club will be hoping that costly refereeing errors are kept to a minimum during the final stretch of the Premier League campaign.

A single poor decision from a match official could prove to be the difference between maintaining top-flight status and the disaster of relegation, particularly as Spurs currently sit two points adrift of safety.

Next up for Tottenham is a challenging trip to Molineux to face Wolves, a ground where the Lilywhites have historically struggled to secure consistent results.

The pressure will be on the players to produce a clinical performance and overcome their recent away-day struggles in the West Midlands.

However, the appointment of Anthony Taylor as the referee for the fixture may offer some degree of encouragement, as Tottenham have fared well when the Cheshire official has taken charge of their matches.

Spurs have won more than half of the fifty games he has previously officiated for them, and the hope will be for that record to continue when the two sides lock horns on Saturday afternoon.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have issued a statement of solidarity following a distressing incident of social media abuse directed at Kevin Danso in the wake of the recent draw with Brighton and Hove Albion.

Kevin Danso will surely be kicking himself after his error proved costly in Tottenham Hotspur’s last encounter with Brighton and Hove Albion.

The centre-back’s hesitation to clear his lines while under pressure from Paul van Hecke was the difference between one point and three for Tottenham.

However, he will be looking to make amends as Spurs return to action this weekend at Molineux against Wolves.

That encounter is another pivotal one, with Tottenham able to leapfrog West Ham United with a win, although a Hammers victory over Everton will keep Spurs in 18th, two points adrift of safety.

Tottenham backs Kevin Danso after racist abuse following Brighton error

Unfortunately for Danso, he was subjected to disgraceful racial abuse on social media following his costly mistake.

There is no room for racism in football, the Premier League or at Tottenham, and the club have now issued a strong statement in support of their defender.

MORE SPURS STORIES

In their official communication addressing the abuse, Tottenham made their position clear, stating: “Following the abhorrent racist abuse suffered by Kevin Danso on social media after the Brighton match, the Club is taking a visible stand this weekend.

“We want to make it clear to the world that if anyone thinks it is ok to racially abuse our players on social media, we will take the strongest possible action.”

Roberto De Zerbi backs Kevin Danso before crucial Wolves fixture

It is disappointing that conversations around racism are still ongoing in 2026. Tottenham have taken steps to tackle the issue, yet incidents like this continue to surface.

Fans can play their part by reporting any abuse directly to [email protected] so the club can take action in line with the measures outlined.

Roberto De Zerbi also voiced his support for Danso, addressing both the abuse and the centre-back’s performance when speaking publicly.

He said: “I was very annoyed by the racist insults towards Kevin, but he has to be calm and I am proud of him.

“He played a fantastic game. Not a good game but a fantastic game. I do not consider one mistake. He will be here next season because he is a good guy, a very good player and every one of us is lucky to work with him.”

Five most important things from Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham vs Wolves press conference - Spurs Web
Description

In what was only his third pre-match press conference as Tottenham Hotspur boss Roberto De Zerbi had plenty to say ahead of Spurs’ match against the already relegated Wolves.

We heard updates about the many players missing from Spurs’ first XI, James Maddison’s crucial role in the squad, the fight still ahead of Tottenham and De Zerbi also drops a massive hint about how he and his players really get on.

Here are the five key takeaways from Roberto De Zerbi’s press conference ahead of Wolverhampton clash.

New names on Tottenham’s never-ending injury list

Roberto De Zerbi confirmed the rumours which emerged earlier this week about Destiny Udogie’s availability for the clash at the Molineux (Tottenham Official).

“Destiny has a problem. I think he can’t play tomorrow,” said De Zerbi. “It’s a muscular injury but not so important,” De Zerbi said on the nature of the injury. The manager also mentioned that it could be a result of the fullback’s body getting used to the strain of playing after a prolonged absence.

De Zerbi also hinted at who we could potentially see tomorrow as replacement for the Italian fullback, “We have Spence, Souza is available to come with us. It’s not a big problem. I hope Udogie can be available in the next week at Villa Park.”

Pape Sarr, who missed his game against Brighton, yet is another addition to Spurs’ injury list. “Pape Matar Sarr, the shoulder. He felt pain in his shoulder and this week he didn’t work. He has not worked with the group. He’s not available to play.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Guglielmo Vicario is still not available after his hernia surgery but should rejoin first team training on Monday after the Wolves game.

Dejan Kulusevski is also unlikely to feature for Spurs again this season.

What role does James Maddison have in the squad?

De Zerbi also spoke about whether James Maddison had any chance to feature against Wolves on Saturday saying, “He is not available yet, especially in this week. He felt pain but not so important problem.”

But Spurs’ head coach remained adamant about James Maddison’s crucial leadership role in the current squad regardless of his injury and said that the Englishman will travel with the rest of the squad to the Midlands tomorrow.

“He is important if he plays or not it doesn’t matter. Better if he plays, for sure, but as a guy, as a leader, he is a positive guy. Inside of my dressing room I want to see nice people, positive people and this is important also for his team-mates.”

How De Zerbi will approach the final five Tottenham games

Roberto De Zerbi does not want to create too much pressure on his players for the remaining game but was also incredibly frank about the challenge still ahead of Spurs.

“I don’t want to put too much pressure, but we have to know the situation. We can’t forget the table. We can’t forget we need a win. We can’t forget that what we have done until now is not enough.”

But the Italian also acknowledged that the season is far from over and any positive performance we see at the Mollineux will have to be followed up. “If we win in Wolverhampton, it’s not finished yet. There are other four games (…) we have to be stronger and to keep playing, to keep going.”

Confidence remains key issue in the Tottenham squad

De Zerbi also spoke about the confidence issues in the Spurs squad, mentioning Mathys Tel and Randal Kolo Muani in particular. “Kolo Muani, in the second half, in the second part of the game Mathys Tel, all can play better (…) but I think it is not a problem about the position of the pitch, but I think the confidence.”

But equally, Roberto De Zerbi remains confident that his players had bought into his ideas and that a single win could give everyone the necessary confidence to change Tottenham’s fortunes in these final stages of the season.

“They are following me and they are good guys. They believe in my words because I am able to recognise the eyes of the players. We are suffering, they are suffering because it is not easy play in Tottenham in this condition of the table, but I said they have to be stronger and they have to live to win a game. We have to live every part of the day waiting for a win and preparing for a win because I think with a win we can change this part of the season.”

In defence of Kevin Danso

De Zerbi also gave his comments regarding the abhorrent abuse Kevin Danso received when his mistake in the dying stages of Spurs’ match against Brighton led to a Seagulls goal.

“I was very annoyed by the racist insults towards Kevin, but he has to be calm. I’m proud for him. He played a fantastic game, not a good game, a fantastic game.”

Danso retains his manager’s full backing who was full of complements for his defender.

“I don’t consider one mistake so important. I consider the attitude, I consider the behaviour on the pitch, the quality in which he played that game, the personality while he played that game. He will be here next season because he’s a good guy.

Data reveals Tottenham Hotspur are the unluckiest club in Europe this season - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s fight for survival could yet hinge on more than just performances, with new data suggesting Spurs’ struggles this season may not be entirely self-inflicted.

Tottenham Hotspur will surely need some luck during the rest of this season if they are to get out of the relegation zone.

The Lilywhites can mathematically be safe, but their fate is no longer in their hands as they sit in the bottom three, two points adrift of safety with five games to go.

Should Spurs win all of their games and their relegation rivals match their run, Tottenham will be a Championship side next campaign.

Tottenham named unluckiest Premier League side in 2025/26 data study

BB Sport News has now crunched the numbers and ranked the unluckiest sides in the Premier League this season.

Their report ranked each team on their points total versus expected points, the cumulative number of weeks lost to injuries, and the number of times they have hit the woodwork throughout the season, to give an accurate representation of how unlucky each team has been.

After running the numbers, Tottenham were unsurprisingly top as the unluckiest side in the Premier League, receiving a score of 69.8 after each team was given a standardised score out of 100 to show their level of misfortune.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Of course, the injury crisis Spurs have had to deal with this season has played a big role in their ranking, with season-long absentees Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison contributing heavily to the total.

Spurs need more luck as West Ham contrast highlights survival fight

While Tottenham have had little luck, their relegation rivals West Ham United are at the other end of the spectrum in these rankings.

The Hammers have been ranked as the second luckiest side in the division this season, as they have barely hit the woodwork and have just 62 total weeks lost to injury.

With the relegation scrap set to go down to the wire, Tottenham will have to improve their luck if they are to beat the drop with five games to go.
