Description

Transfer expert Graeme Bailey has provided a promising update on Tottenham’s pursuit of Eberechi Eze after Arsenal made advances towards the attacking midfielder over recent days.

The Crystal Palace star’s transfer saga has been moving rapidly over the past few days, with almost hourly developments emerging as the race for his signature intensifies.

Some outlets have claimed that Tottenham are now willing to meet Eze’s £68 release clause after the player signalled a willingness to move to Spurs.

However, over recent hours, Arsenal have made contact over a move for Eze, which has left some Spurs fans worried about the possibility of the Gunners hijacking the deal.

Tottenham are still leading the race to land Eberechi Eze

Graeme Bailey has now confirmed that Mikel Arteta’s men have indeed made enquiries about the 26-year-old. He reveals that they are not the only ones to do so, with Liverpool, Chelsea, Man United, Newcastle and Aston Villa also exploring moves for the England international.

However, the journalist asserts that Tottenham are at the front of the queue to land Eberechi Eze at the moment.

Bailey told TBR Football: “Eberechi Eze is expecting to leave Crystal Palace this summer, that is no secret. He has a release clause and Steve Parish is open to taking instalments to a certain degree but any agreement will need to be reached with Palace.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Eze himself has made it clear he is open to options, and a host of Premier League clubs have made contact. As we have reported, the most advanced are Tottenham Hotspur, and we are told the player would welcome a move.

“But Arsenal have indeed made enquiries as they see him as a potential option on their left – but same with Liverpool, Chelsea, Man United, Newcastle and Aston Villa – they have all made enquiries to some extent this year.”

Tottenham also eyeing Eze alternatives this summer

While the speculation linking Eze with a move to Spurs has intensified substantially over the last week, several sources indicate that the Lilywhites are not putting all their eggs into the Palace man’s basket.

In fact, Ben Jacobs has gone as far as to say that Tottenham have ‘backed off’ their interest in Eze over the past 24 hours. If true, this will come as frustrating news to Spurs fans.

It has been alleged that Tottenham remain interested in Antoine Semenyo, Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons and other attackers.

Tottenham Hotspur stumbling block revealed in the race to sign Xavi Simons - Spurs Web
Description

The Telegraph’s Matt Law has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs involved in the race to land Xavi Simons, but he suggested that there is one factor which could diminish the Lilywhites’ chances of winning the race for the RB Leipzig star.

Over the last few weeks, several outlets have backed Tottenham to push ahead with a big-money move for Simons, whose future at Leipzig is thought to be up in the air.

However, the Lilywhites are expected to face a lot of competition for the 22-year-old. According to some sources, Spurs may have to battle Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool for Simons’ signature.

Last week, journalist Ben Jacobs provided a promising update by stating that Tottenham are the ones to watch in the race for Simons, with the reporter confirming that Thomas Frank’s men have made an active enquiry to understand the Dutchman’s price.

Spurs could run into one problem in Xavi Simons’ pursuit

Matt Law has said that meeting Leipzig’s asking price may not be an issue for Spurs and confirmed that the Netherlands international wants to come to the Premier League.

However, he revealed that the versatile attacker is expecting a big pay package at his next club, which might be an issue for Spurs, given their right wage structure.

When asked about Tottenham’s interest in the Leipzig man, Law told the Last Word on Spurs: “So Xavi Simons does want to come to England this summer and leave Leipzig, he’s got quite a few people looking at him, and I’m told Tottenham are definitely one of those where there is an interest.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I don’t think it’s an easy deal to do, from what I’m told, I think he wants quite a big package himself, I don’t think the transfer fee would necessarily be something that would be a problem for Tottenham or other clubs.

“But I do think Tottenham Hotspur are in the mix for him and are certainly interested, but I think there are a few, so I don’t think they’ll have a clear run at him. I definitely think they have a shout.”

Simons has made his transfer desire clear

While it is unclear where the winger will end up this summer, he seems nailed on to leave Leipzig.

It was reported by The Athletic last week that Simons has informed Leipzig that he wants to exit the club, with England likely to be his next destination.

The publication claimed that the Bundesliga club are expected to demand €70m (£60m) for the 22-year-old’s services.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to pounce on a prolific Lyon forward after the French giants were relegated from Ligue 1 owing to their financial issues.

Lyon are one of the most storied clubs in French football, particularly over the last few decades, which is why their relegation as a result of defaulting on their debt has sent shockwaves around world football.

Given the dog-eat-dog nature of the sport at the highest level, one would expect clubs from around Europe to queue up to grab some of the club’s prized assets.

It turns out that Daniel Levy and Spurs have now set their sights on one of Lyon’s best players last season, who scored 17 goals and provided seven assists for the club across all competitions in 2024-25.

Tottenham expected to launch an offer for Georges Mikautadze

The Tottenham target in question is striker, Georges Mikautadze, who was outstanding for the French club last term both domestically and in the Europa League.

According to a report in Tutto Juve, Juventus are keen on securing the forward’s signature but the Serie A club have to be wary of interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

The report states several Premier League clubs are showing interest in Mikautadze, with Spurs in the front row to secure his services.

MORE SPURS STORIES

In fact, it is alleged that the Europa League champions are ‘ready to make a concrete offer’ for the Georgia international over the coming weeks.

Due to Tottenham’s keenness to land the striker, the Bianconeri now have to step up and accelerate their efforts to land Mikautadze.

The sale of Mikautadze could depend on one factor

It is explained in the report that Lyon will appeal the decision to relegate them to Ligue 2 as the club hope to fight a legal battle to secure their top-flight status.

If their relegation is confirmed, we could see a mass exodus from the club this summer, with Mikautadze being one of the hottest properties at the club.

While the likes of Tottenham and Juve have made their advances amidst the internal crisis at Lyon, their chances of landing the forward could depend on the outcome of the French club’s appeal.

Tottenham Hotspur appear to have lost out on a couple of their key transfer targets and a new report has now shed light on what the feeling is among sources close to the club about their transfer plans this summer.

According to reports, Man United are on the verge of beating Tottenham to Bryan Mbeumo, which will come as a bitter blow to Thomas Frank at the start of his Spurs stint.

Additionally, Frank’s trusted midfielder general, Christian Norgaard is expected to snub Spurs in favour of a move to Arsenal.

It is hardly the start that the Danish coach would have wanted to his stint at N17, with Mathys Tel being the only addition that Tottenham Hotspur have made so far this transfer window.

What sources close to Tottenham are saying about transfer failures

Spurs fans are understandably getting a little impatient at the club’s lack of urgency, especially with pre-season fast approaching.

Flash Score have now claimed that they have spoken to sources close to Tottenham, who privately acknowledge that the early optics of the transfer window are far from ideal.

However, those sources continue to believe that Spurs ‘will do some serious business’ this summer ahead of Frank’s first season in charge.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Meanwhile, Alasdair Gold predicted a few days ago that two or three more signings will arrive at Tottenham before the start of pre-season.

Thomas Frank has been handed a big budget by Spurs

This update ties in with various reports we relayed over the past few weeks which have asserted that Frank will be given big money to spend this summer to rebuild the Tottenham squad.

Some journalists have predicted that ENIC may finally decide to invest some cash into Spurs this summer after failing to attract outside investment into the club.

There is no doubt that the Lilywhites need to add major reinforcements to their squad to cope with the rigours of the Premier League and the Champions League.

Tottenham suffer bitter Jarrad Branthwaite blow amidst big Everton update - Spurs Web
Description

Amidst reports that Tottenham are preparing an offer for Jarrad Branthwaite, Everton have just made a huge play to keep the centre-back out of the clutches of the North London side.

Amidst the continued speculation over Cristian Romero’s potential departure from Tottenham, it has been claimed over recent days that Thomas Frank is prioritising signing a centre-back this summer.

It was reported last month that Spurs could turn to Jarrad Branthwaite after Marc Guehi rejected their approach.

Just last week, it was asserted that Tottenham were preparing an approach for Branthwaite, with Thomas Frank’s men wanting to steal a march on the other suitors for the centre-back.

However, Sky Sports have now handed Tottenham Hotspur a huge blow by revealing that Everton are close to finalising a new contract for the centre-back.

While there are still some final elements to be ironed out before Branthwaite puts pen a paper, a new deal can be announced as early as next week.

The update reveals that the Toffees first began discussions with the 23-year-old’s representatives earlier this month and have now made progress in their efforts to tie him down.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The defender was considering his future at Merseyside amidst interest from both Spurs and Chelsea, but he is now focusing on next season with his current club as they move into their new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock.

Lack of Spurs offer may be good news for fans of Cristian Romero

It was reported last week that Branthwaite was open to leaving Everton for Tottenham as the defender wanted to play Champions League football.

However, the fact that Spurs have not pushed ahead with a bid may suggest that they are relatively confident that Cristian Romero will stay.

Huge Cristian Romero update as Atletico are just £9m short of Tottenham valuation - Spurs Web
Description

Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur are not far off in their respective valuations of Cristian Romero, but an agreement between the two clubs is still far away.

Atletico Madrid are pulling out all the stops to land Romero, with Diego Simeone even thought to be in regular contact with the Tottenham man.

However, it was revealed by The Telegraph earlier this week that Tottenham do not intend to succumb to Atletico’s tactics on Romero, with the Lilywhites sticking to their asking price.

The outlet claimed that the North Londoners have made it clear that they will only let their vice-captain leave if the La Liga side pay £60m.

Atletico Madrid and Tottenham so close, yet so far on Cristian Romero

AS have now claimed that Romero is still viewed by the La Liga club as their priority target this summer, but Spurs are not making things easy.

The report says that the Premier League side are being ‘inflexible’ and have no intention of dropping their price from €70m (£60m).

In fact, it is alleged that Spurs see the World Cup winner as an important part of Thomas Frank’s project and are even trying to renew his contract.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Atletico are continuing to press for the Argentine but the Spanish side are not willing to offer more than €60m (£51.2m).

Even that offer is seen as excessive by the Atletico hierarchy but they are only willing to put that on the table because of Simeone’s insistence.

Can Atletico and Tottenham solve the Romero deadlock?

AS say that the Colchoneros will resume negotiations for the centre-back at the end of the month and are hoping that they can get Tottenham Hotspur to soften their stance.

The one thing working in their favour is that Romero is keen on a move to the Spanish capital and it is asserted that the defender could even agitate for a move this summer.

However, Atletico are also identifying alternatives for the Tottenham man, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie expected to be their plan B if they cannot agree a deal for the 27-year-old.

Description

Tottenham fans have not taken kindly to Bryan Mbeumo’s latest declaration, as the Brentford star appears to have snubbed a move to Spurs in favour of Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Bryan Mbeumo has been widely reported across various outlets, with the Lilywhites said to be pushing for a deal that would reunite the winger with his former manager, Thomas Frank.

It was suggested that Tottenham had lodged a bid for Mbeumo, one that was higher than Manchester United’s previous offer, which Brentford had turned down.

However, while the north London club were willing to spend, it was also claimed that Spurs’ wage structure may prove a stumbling block, with United said to be prepared to offer significantly higher terms.

Tottenham fans name Bryan Mbeumo alternatives as Brentford star rejects Spurs move

According to a fresh report from The Athletic, Bryan Mbeumo has now told Brentford and Tottenham that he does not want to move to Spurs. Should he leave this summer, his sole preference would be a move to Manchester United.

It is another bitter pill to swallow for Spurs supporters, who have become all too familiar with watching top targets slip away.

The reaction across social media has since seen fans voice their frustration at both the club’s transfer strategy and its leadership. While others are now calling for the club to look elsewhere.

MORE SPURS STORIES

One supporter wrote: “If you value your mental peace, just give up on Spurs while Levy’s still in charge. Europa League was pure luck with a bunch of kids. He only cares about profit, not progress. For your own peace of mind, stop making this club your priority.”

Another fumed: “They will somehow ruin him as well. However, we have absolutely zero pull. Just won a trophy, and got Champions League football. And STILL no one wants to join us.”

Others shifted the discussion towards potential alternatives. Suggestions included: “Get Kudus then” and “Go get Xavi.” Another supporter added: “Now we have missed out on him, we better get Eze. If not, we are finished.”

Spurs fans want marquee additions that show ambition

Tottenham have not been completely inactive in the transfer market this summer. The club has already made three additions, though none of them can be described as blockbuster deals that truly excite the fan base.

Mathys Tel has joined permanently following his earlier loan spell in the second half of last season, while the obligation to buy clause for Kevin Danso has also been activated. Meanwhile, young Japanese defender Kota Takai is expected to be unveiled soon as a new Spurs player.

Sevilla have now become the latest club to enter the race for Bryan Gil, but the La Liga side are willing to offer just half the asking price that Tottenham are demanding for the winger.

Gil is down to the final year of his contract, with an exit from North London seeming inevitable for the Spaniard this summer. Unsurprisingly, the 24-year-old is now attracting a lot of interest from La Liga.

Girona want to sign Gil permanently but they will not activate their €15m (£12.5m) option to buy and their hesitation has opened the door for other clubs to enter the race.

Villarreal have been credited with an interest in Gil while over recent days, some reports from Spain have claimed that Valencia are also eyeing the move for the Spurs winger.

Sevilla are now plotting a move for Tottenham’s Bryan Gil

According to a report in Orgullo Biri, the 24-year-old’s former club, Sevilla, are now looking to re-sign the Tottenham Hotspur man.

In fact, the report says that the Spain international is now seen as a ‘priority option’ at the Andalusian side, with the club’s decision-makers thought to be fans of the player.

Sevilla are hoping to take advantage of Gil’s contract situation at Spurs and land him on a discount.

Garcia Pimienta’s men are considering sending an offer of €5m-€6m (£4.2m-£5.1m) for the winger, which is the most they could afford without selling some players first.

Tottenham’s asking price for Gil revealed as competition intensifies

Orgullo Biri claim that Tottenham are demanding around €10m-€15m (£8.5m-£12.8m) for the 24-year-old, which is around double what Sevilla are willing to offer.

The outlet adds that Olympiakos, Villarreal, Valencia and Girona are also keen on the winger, thus making the transfer complicated for Los Nervionenses.

However, it is revealed that the one thing working in Sevilla’s favour is that Gil is clear that he wants to return to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium as he retains strong emotional connections with the fans and the city.

Bryan Mbeumo sends a clear message to Tottenham after chat with Thomas Frank - Spurs Web
Description

A report has shed light on what Tottenham Hotspur have heard from Bryan Mbeumo’s camp after a chat with Thomas Frank and how likely the Lilywhites are to try again to hijack his proposed move to Manchester United.

It appears, based on the updates over the last week, that Spurs’ interest in the Brentford star has cooled since the player made his transfer preference clear.

It has been widely reported that Mbeumo’s number one choice is to join Man United, which is why Tottenham have now admitted defeat in their pursuit of the 25-year-old.

Various sources indicate that Spurs are now focused on other alternatives, including Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze after failing with their pursuit of the Cameroon international.

What Bryan Mbeumo has told Tottenham and Thomas Frank

It has now been reported by The Athletic that Mbeumo has made it clear to Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur that he only wants to move to Man United if he leaves the Gtech Community Stadium this summer.

The report reveals that it is not just Spurs who showed interest in the Bees star this summer, but also Arsenal and Newcastle.

However, the player has now made it clear that he wants to join the Red Devils as long as they can reach an agreement with Brentford.

MORE SPURS STORIES

In fact, it is alleged that Mbeumo has even notified Frank of his desire to move to Old Trafford, which is what led to Tottenham calling off their pursuit.

How close are Man United to agreeing a deal for Mbeumo?

The Athletic point out that after seeing their £45m plus £10m offer turned down a few weeks ago, Man United sent a second proposal of £55m plus £7.5m in add-ons to Brentford.

However, even that offer has been sent back by the West London side, who continue to be locked in negotiations with United for Mbeumo.

It is revealed that Tottenham have denied making any offer for the Brentford star until now and the Lilywhites’ stance will only change if Ruben Amorim’s side are not able to finalise a deal for the forward.

The £40m Tottenham player with a point to prove to Thomas Frank and his doubters

The £40m Tottenham player with a point to prove to Thomas Frank and his doubters - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank will be considering which Tottenham Hotspur players he wants to be his regular starters, and one youngster needs to do more to increase his chances.

Tottenham are not off to the best start in the summer transfer window. While Spurs have signed Mathys Tel and also confirmed the permanent signing of Kevin Danso, recent transfer news has caused frustration.

Arsenal are trying to hijack Tottenham’s move for Eberechi Eze after weeks of rumours linking the FA Cup winner with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This comes as Tottenham could lose out to Manchester United for Bryan Mbeumo.

However, whether they are Tottenham’s primary transfer targets or not, new players are going to be joining the club. This may not come as good news to one Spurs man, whose only role last season was to fill in for injured players.

Archie Gray must up his game in order to start for Tottenham

Gray is a talented prodigy who only recently turned 19, but his move last summer has sometimes been called into question.

One fan recently posted on X: “It’s worrying that Archie Gray can’t get into the England U21 team. I like the lad but he was never worth 40m.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

His role at Spurs last season was largely to cover for injured players, meaning most of his appearances were as a central defender. Also, Gray is currently in Slovakia with England U21s, but he has not started in his national team’s past three matches, despite starting their first two tournament matches.

There is no doubt Gray is an excellent player, but his role at Spurs has not come close to how important he was at Leeds United. The Tottenham first-team squad ought to look stronger next season and if Gray is to break into the first-team, he needs to raise the level of his performances.

However, the fact his move to Spurs has recently received some scrutiny from more critical supporters is only a testament to how much Gray has accomplished so early in his career. To have such an impact at a top Championship club is impressive, and rubbishing his hefty transfer fee after one season is not fair on the teenage baller.

Gray is a favourite of Spurs manager Thomas Frank

Gray eventually had a part to play under Ange Postecoglou, but the former Spurs boss did not appear to trust him early in the season. It was not until Tottenham were left with only one recognised centre-back that the 19-year-old began to regularly feature in the first team. He certainly has a point to prove in order to get some minutes in his preferred position.

However, Thomas Frank is a big fan of Archie Gray and even attempted to sign him for Brentford before he made the move to North London. The England youth player may not yet have earned the approval of Lee Carsley, but the fact Frank is now in charge at Tottenham could be a real game-changer for him.

Yves Bissouma only has one year remaining on his contract and Gray is Tottenham’s other natural holding midfielder. With Frank often opting for a 4-3-3 system, this could be Gray’s chance to shine.
