Description

Alasdair Gold has made an exciting prediction regarding what Tottenham fans can expect the club to do in the transfer window over the next few weeks.

The Thomas Frank era at Spurs has now begun and we are just weeks away from the start of pre-season.

Tottenham have a busy pre-season schedule with some tasty fixtures, with the club set to embark on a pre-season trip to Asia, which includes a clash against Arsenal in Hong Kong.

Frank certainly does not have an easy start to life as Spurs boss, with his first competitive fixture in charge being the UEFA Super Cup clash against PSG on August 13, just three days before the start of the new Premier League campaign.

Alasdair Gold expects several new faces to arrive soon

Mathys Tel has become the first signing of the Thomas Frank era at Spurs, with the club securing the Frenchman permanently from Bayern Munich on the back of his loan spell at N17 over the last six months.

The supporters are restless to see more new faces arrive through the door, and Gold has revealed that they would not have to wait for long, predicting that two or three signings could be completed before pre-season gets underway.

When asked how many signings he expects Tottenham to make before the start of pre-season, Gold said in a Q&A on Football.London: “The club moved pretty quickly when Postecoglou was appointed two years ago so hopefully they spring into action soon.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I’d expect two or three signings by that point, but that might depend on some outgoings as well to ensure there’s the space more than anything. Technically, I think the first friendly though will be around July 19.”

Which deals are Tottenham currently working on?

Tottenham Hotspur have tended to operate in secrecy since Johan Lange arrived through the door as technical director, which makes it difficult to ascertain who the club’s top targets are.

Reports indicate that Frank is prioritising strengthening Tottenham’s attack, which is understandable given the doubts over Heung-min Son’s Spurs future.

When Tottenham’s targets for the number six role will finally be revealed - Spurs Web
Description

Alasdair Gold believes that Tottenham’s top target for a key midfield role will become clear over the next week or two following Thomas Frank’s conversations with the Spurs hierarchy.

It has been reported over recent weeks that signing a defensive midfielder is one of Frank’s priorities at Tottenham this summer.

However, based on what is being rumoured, it appears that Tottenham are now focusing on reinforcing their attack, with several Premier League attackers said to be on the club’s radar.

Some sources have suggested that Frank wants to reunite with Christian Norgaard at Spurs but it has been revealed that Tottenham are expected to be frustrated in their pursuit of Norgaard, with Brentford having no intention of letting their captain leave.

Alasdair Gold reveals Tottenham’s priorities have changed for number six role

Gold has now explained that the Spurs recruitment team have had to come up with a new list of defensive midfield targets after the arrival of Frank, with the demands of the number six being very different in the Dane’s system than Ange Postecoglou’s.

The journalist suggested that Tottenham’s top targets for that role will come to light within the next week or two once the new Spurs head coach has a conversation with Johan Lange.

When asked which defensive midfielder the Lilywhites are expected to target this summer, Gold said in a Q&A on Football.London: “The problem with that role in particular is the arrival of Thomas Frank brings a reset of sorts in that the number six has to be someone who fits his system compared to Ange Postecoglou’s.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Spurs were already looking for a number six but some on the list may well have changed in recent days as Frank and Johan Lange decide in their key recruitment chats that would have taken place at Hotspur Way last week as well as subsequent and previous conversations about the best fitting names for his system that are gettable.

“We’ll find out in the next week or two which number sixes are on the radar as Frank’s needs get pushed out within the game to agents and clubs. It’s always the way it works under a new manager. It takes a little time and various meetings before details start to emerge.”

Which defensive midfielders have been linked with Spurs?

There have been suggestions over recent weeks that Tottenham have their eye on Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson.

It has also emerged that Spurs have explored a move for Algerian international Adem Zorgane, who plays for Sporting Charleroi in Belgium.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have now reportedly submitted a new planning application for the building of four residential towers on the south end of the club’s 62,850-capacity stadium.

Some ambitious statements have come out of Tottenham for the start of the Thomas Frank era, with Daniel Levy insisting that Spurs want to build towards winning the Premier League and the Champions League.

However, to do that, the Lilywhites would need substantial investment into the squad, which has not been forthcoming yet this summer.

Tottenham have only completed one signing so far this transfer window, with supporters eagerly waiting for the club’s hierarchy to put their money where their mouth is.

The latest development regarding what is in the works at N17 may thus not please the fans, with Levy making plans for significant investment, not in the playing squad but in the infrastructure near the stadium.

Tottenham submit plans for four residential towers near the stadium

Football.London have now revealed that Spurs have submitted a new planning application for the four residential towers that will be built on the south end of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The club have now submitted what is their third application to Haringey Council to tie up the final reserved matters approval to allow them to begin development work on the four buildings.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The four residential buildings will be accompanied by a set of townhouses as well as an extreme sports building and a 180-bedroom hotel, and permission for those has already been granted.

The plan is for all of these new buildings to be completed in time for the European Championship in 2028, with the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium set to be one of the host grounds for the tournament.

According to the report, the buildings will provide 564 new homes for the area, with 290 two-bed, 243 one-bed, 30 three-bed residences and one studio apartment in Tower D.

The buildings will transform how the stadium looks

Football.London point out that at the moment, the south end of the complex comprises the club megastore within the Tottenham Experience and the plaza outside the stadium entrance.

Once these towers and the other proposed buildings are complete, the view coming down from the end of the High Road will look very different, with the residential buildings set to tower over the stadium’s south stand.

The buildings will employ a boxed frame-shading system, with sliding panels around them, thus looking distinctive in the Tottenham landscape.

The entrances to the towers will incorporate more brickwork as a nod to the area’s historical brick and tile manufacture.

Description

A Tottenham Hotspur man is reportedly very keen to return to his former club this summer, but Spurs are not making a deal easy, with the two sides not seeing eye-to-eye on the structure of a transfer.

According to reports, Thomas Frank is set to undertake a major rebuild of the Tottenham squad ahead of his first season in charge as the Dane goes about putting his imprint on the side he inherited from Ange Postecoglou.

There is thus expected to be plenty of player turnover at Hotspur Way, with some players appearing likely to leave the club.

One of those is Alejo Veliz, who has been heavily linked with a return to his Rosario Central, two years on from swapping the Argentine side for North London.

Rosario Central make no progress in Alejo Veliz talks with Tottenham

A report in La Pagina 12 has now revealed that the 21-year-old’s former club are not finding their transfer pursuit straightforward.

They say that although Rosaria have not made any progress in their efforts to land Veliz, the club are maintaining contact with Tottenham Hotspur.

They also spoke to a club official, who has allegedly said that the youngster is desperate for a return to his former stomping ground following two unsuccessful seasons in Europe.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet quotes a member of Rosaria’s leadership as saying about the Veliz deal: “There’s no progress, but he’s not down. We are willing to make a financial effort, but nothing has been made yet. They (the English team) are still considering selling his transfer.

“Veliz will do everything in his power to secure a return to Central. He’s convinced that returning to the club now is the best thing for his career, and that’s fundamental to our aspirations. But we have to wait until July to see what’s new.”

Rosario Central hoping Spurs change their stance on Veliz

La Pagina 12 go on to reveal that Rosario have already made a loan proposal to Tottenham, which includes an undisclosed loan fee.

However, the Lilywhites have so far shown no interest in loaning out the Argentina Under-20 international, with the Premier League side preferring a permanent sale.

The belief at Rosaria is that Spurs’ stance on Veliz may change later in the transfer window, particularly if the North Londoners do not receive any better proposals for the player.

Description

Jamie Donley could now get his big break at Tottenham Hotspur as Thomas Frank eyes young star for a potential first-team role.

Tottenham Hotspur have several youngsters who would be gunning for a spot in the first team next season under Thomas Frank.

In fact, last season’s breakthrough talent, Mikey Moore, has already stated that he is looking to impress Tottenham’s new head coach, Thomas Frank.

Luka Vuskovic, who impressed at Westerlo where he scored seven goals in the Belgian league and earned his first-ever Croatian senior call-up in the international break, would also fancy his chances of getting into the first-team squad.

Jamie Donley set for first-team involvement at Tottenham under Thomas Frank

Of course, there is every chance that these youngsters would be handed a chance to impress, at least during pre-season, before the season starts.

However, TBR Football have now shared an update on one Tottenham youngster who looks set to be involved in the club’s first-team squad.

According to the publication, Jamie Donley, 20, who scored eight goals and got ten assists in the league – more than any other player in the division – is set to be involved in Thomas Frank’s plans for the first team.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet’s chief correspondent claims that while Donley could be loaned out once more, he is one to keep an eye on, as he will be handed a chance to impress at Spurs during pre-season.

Graeme Bailey said: “There are a few youngsters who I think they will look at. The one youngster I am hearing at Tottenham to keep an eye on is Jamie Donley.

“Although he was on late, I think there is a real feeling amongst some at Spurs that he could really make a step up next season. Do not rule out him being involved in Frank’s first-team squad next season.

“Everyone thinks he is going out on loan, and he probably will, but I am being told do not rule out Donley getting a look, especially in pre-season. If he does well, there might be an opportunity for him.”

Jamie Donley stats and first-team ambition with Spurs

Indeed, Donley has impressed during his loan spell in League One, as he played a crucial role for Leyton Orient, leading them to promotion, although they lost to Charlton at Wembley.

For a player who managed 18 goal contributions after only his first taste of senior football, it is clear that the 20-year-old is a top talent.

Thomas Frank’s Dominic Solanke comments should excite Tottenham fans

Thomas Frank’s Dominic Solanke comments should excite Tottenham fans - Spurs Web
Description

Dominic Solanke had an acceptable first season at Tottenham Hotspur, but there is something he must add to his game to thrive under Thomas Frank.

Dominic Solanke had all eyes on him when he joined Tottenham last summer. At £65m, he may not have been expected to be the ideal Harry Kane replacement, but that price tag was certainly enough to heighten the expectations of Spurs supporters.

Some may feel Solanke is yet to justify the record-breaking transfer fee he cost Tottenham. His story at the club was rather perfectly summed up by his debut against Leicester City last August. He played well at the King Power Stadium, linking his team’s attacking play and showcasing an excellent work rate.

However, Solanke missed some good goal-scoring chances and while this could be excused after only one game, it became a theme of his first year at Spurs.

Thomas Frank heaps praise on Dominic Solanke

Solanke scored nine Premier League goals last season, yet missed 12 big chances. These less-than-impressive stats could pose a concern, as Thomas Frank likes his forwards to be threatening in front of goal.

Despite this, the new Spurs boss is looking at how best to use Solanke, and has already spoken highly of the 27-year-old. Frank believes Solanke can score a lot of goals.

Speaking on how he would get the best out of his players, he said: “Of course, I’ve got an idea already. You know, my head is spinning. ‘How can we play?’ I will put them together and all that.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“But, yeah, before that. When I say talented, it’s also, it’s not only the young players, is also some of the more experienced players.

“How can we get the best out of them? Let’s say Dominic Solanke, I’m a big fan of him in terms of his abilities. I’m sure we’ll make him score a lot of goals.”

Comparing Tottenham’s Dominic Solanke with Ivan Toney at Brentford

Frank has already worked with a top English striker in Ivan Toney. The Northampton-born frontman was primarily utilised as a goal scorer. In his best Premier League season, Toney scored 20 goals. He would also hold up the ball and lay off passes to his teammates, providing Frank with different ways to get the best out of him.

The Dane once described Toney as the ‘perfect fit’ for Gareth Southgate’s England squad, claiming the flexible striker could do things other forwards could not.

Solanke has the potential to play a similar role for Frank at Tottenham. He has shown how impressive his all-around play is; the only thing missing is his ability to score goals. This is not something he needs to learn, but rather, to rediscover. After all, he hit the back of the net 19 times in his best season at Bournemouth.

Solanke needs better attacking partners at Spurs

Solanke clearly needs a boost in confidence when it comes to shooting, but part of the reason he had a disappointing campaign for goals is due to a lack of creativity.

When he scored 19 goals in the 2023/24 season, he missed 14 big chances, which is more than he missed last season. Toney himself missed 16 big chances in the season, where he scored 20.

This does not mean Solanke is not at fault. He needs to find the attacking form he once had, but he is still likely to score more goals if Frank can get his new side creating more goal-scoring opportunities.

Like Toney, Solanke is a versatile forward, with intelligence on the ball, good link-up qualities and his movement is even better. Add more goals to the mix and Solanke has everything required to be the striker Frank needs to compete for more trophies.

Tottenham want to sign a player who was just Dominic Solanke’s best man at his wedding - Spurs Web
Description

Kyle Walker-Peters has just made an interesting admission about his relationship with Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke amid reports linking the full-back with a return to Spurs this summer.

Tottenham are expected to make a move for Kyle Walker-Peters later in the transfer window, according to Alasdair Gold.

The full-back is currently a free agent after his contract with Southampton ran out, and Gold revealed that the Lilywhites are facing competition from the likes of Everton and Wolves for the 28-year-old.

The England international’s latest social media post suggests that there is one factor which could give Tottenham Hotspur an advantage in the transfer race.

Kyle Walker-Peters refers to Dominic Solanke as his ‘family’

Tottenham hold a special place in Walker-Peters’ heart, with the youngster having come through the ranks of the Hotspur Way academy before breaking into the first team in 2017 under Mauricio Pochettino.

However, it turns out that there is one other factor that could potentially attract him back to North London: his close relationship with Dominic Solanke.

Walker-Peters has taken to Instagram stories to react to Solanke’s wedding celebrations, captioning his story: “My family!” with a white heart emoji. It was also revealed on TikTok that Walker-Peters was actually Solanke’s best man on the day.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham may be hoping that agent Solanke might help convince the young defender to return to Hotspur Way, although it remains to be seen if the full-back would accept a bit-part role back at N17.

Why it makes perfect sense for Tottenham to sign Walker-Peters

Some Spurs fans are not enthusiastic about signing Walker-Peters, feeling that the move signals a lack of ambition from the Tottenham hierarchy.

However, many outlets have pointed out that Tottenham are woefully short of homegrown and club-trained players, especially for European competitions, where rules are stricter than in the Premier League.

Landing Walker-Peters would thus ensure that they do not have to leave players out of the Champions League squad and would enable Spurs to make more signings in key areas of the pitch this summer.

Tottenham fans divided as club consider re-signing old player for a Champions League boost

Tottenham fans divided as club consider re-signing old player for a Champions League boost - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham fans have been reacting online to fresh reports linking the club with a potential reunion with former defender Kyle Walker-Peters, who could return as a free agent and help fulfil the club-trained quota ahead of UEFA Champions League registration.

Tottenham Hotspur are yet to make any further additions to their squad since completing the signing of Mathys Tel earlier in the summer window, after the winger agreed to a six-year deal expected to keep him in north London till 2031.

However, the club’s dealings this summer are unlikely to be straightforward, particularly as they must ensure compliance with UEFA’s Champions League squad registration rules for the upcoming campaign.

It has been reported that Tottenham may need to sell to buy, while it is also believed that a move for former player Kyle Walker-Peters is being explored to meet the homegrown requirements for Europe.

The 28-year-old full-back has spent the last five seasons at Southampton, a club that suffered relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2024/25 season.

He featured 33 times in the Premier League last term, recording two assists in those appearances.

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who have seen the latest reports have begun sharing their opinions online, with a range of views expressed regarding a possible return for the former academy product.

MORE SPURS STORIES

One fan wrote: “Well, it is not the sexiest name, but it is kind of a necessity in terms of club-trained and he can fill in at both right-back and left-back. Free transfer too, I would not be against it if it meant we go all out in other positions.”

Another added: “It is so boring but to be fair on a free it would make a lot of sense.”

One supporter appeared bemused at the suggestion, saying: “Yesssss we got Champions League football to bring back players we got rid of years ago on a free.”

Another simply remarked: “Imagine signing a player from the second-worst Premier League team in history.”

However, there were some who seemed open to the idea: “I would not hate this, with Djed being so good and playing both sides, KWP would likely not get too much game time and he is solid enough as a rotation option for both sides.”

Spurs may turn to Walker-Peters to meet UCL quota

Walker-Peters is expected to become a free agent at the end of the month, meaning Spurs would not have to pay a transfer fee if they opted to re-sign him.

He would clearly arrive as a squad player, one who would not see much game time, but with his Premier League experience, he represents a dependable option when required.

It might not be a move that generates major headlines, but it is the type of deal driven by necessity, as Tottenham look to meet their club-trained quota ahead of UEFA competition registration.

Description

Tottenham starlet Mikey Moore could be set for another new contract, with journalist Alasdair Gold tipping the teenager to be rewarded following his breakout 2024/25 campaign.

It is no news that Thomas Frank is now the new Tottenham head coach, following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, after the Australian’s two seasons at the helm at Hotspur Way.

Of course, with the 2025/26 season fast approaching, Thomas Frank will be hoping to get a few things sorted before the new campaign officially begins.

In fact, we have already highlighted five tasks Frank will be looking to tick off his checklist as Tottenham manager, including contract talks with both Heung-min Son and Cristian Romero.

Tottenham youngster Mikey Moore in line for fresh deal

Son’s future at Tottenham is uncertain, with several clubs across Europe and the Middle East said to be interested in the Spurs captain.

Cristian Romero continues to attract interest from Spain, with Atletico Madrid still sniffing around the Argentine centre-back.

While Tottenham fans wait to see what lies in store for two of their most experienced players, journalist Alasdair Gold has now revealed that one of Spurs’ breakout stars from last season is set for a new contract.

MORE SPURS STORIES

According to Gold, Mikey Moore, who only recently penned a new contract at Tottenham, could be in line to renew his terms once again.

The journalist explained it is common for a club’s young players to sign new deals annually as they progress towards first-team football, and he expects Moore to receive an improved contract after establishing himself in the senior setup.

He said: “The other ones I think are 2027, Mikey Moore. Mikey Moore I would imagine that will be tied up this summer and we will see a new deal for him.

“When they are 16, 17 or 18 you get these new contracts that kick in anyway and I am sure they will agree to one that reflects a player who has made his Premier League bow now and played 19 times last season.”

Spurs will not sell Mikey Moore despite Borussia Dortmund interest

While Tottenham are looking to tie Moore down to a new deal, the England under-19 international, who is currently sidelined through injury, is also attracting interest from elsewhere.

It has been reported that Borussia Dortmund are monitoring Moore’s situation, with suggestions that the Bundesliga outfit is contemplating a loan move for the teenager. Juventus have also been linked with an ambitious move for Mikey Moore.

Heung-min Son and Thomas Frank meeting could lead to huge £34m Tottenham decision - Spurs Web
Description

After a milestone moment with Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final, Heung-min Son is faced with one of the biggest decisions of his footballing career this summer – and it could involve huge sums of money for all involved.

The reports have been coming thick and fast on Heung-min Son’s Tottenham future so far this summer, and they show no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Despite lifting the Europa League trophy with Spurs just one month ago, ending a 17-year trophy drought, the South Korean superstar now has just one year left on his contract.

Reports have claimed that Thomas Frank has already told Tottenham his thoughts on Son’s future. In short, the winger is welcome to stay, but he will have to accept a bit-part role next season in what is set to be an intense rebuild.

Al Ahli, Al Nassr and Al Qadsiah are all interested in signing Heung-min Son this summer, while former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has also been linked with a move for the Tottenham captain.

Any Heung-min Son exit will have to be a late one at Tottenham

Tottenham fans may still be having nightmares about the likes of Harry Kane and Gareth Bale leaving so late in their respective summer transfer windows. However, that may be the case once more if Son departs this year.

It has been revealed that Heung-min Son is commercially contracted to appear against Newcastle United during Tottenham’s tour of South Korea in pre-season. That match does not take place until the beginning of August, meaning Spurs will have to hold onto their captain until then, at least.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Ben Jacobs exclusively informed Spurs Web that there are likely ways to get out of such contractual commitments, but both Tottenham and Son are expected to respect the agreement.

He said: “Yes, he’s obligated to play. Obviously, if sold there is likely an out. But we expect Spurs and Son to respect the agreement. There will be clauses of exemption, like injury or transfer, but it doesn’t sound like either party will not honour it. Likely cause, if they break it, they owe money back.”

Spurs Web also learned that Heung-min Son will have a meeting with new Tottenham boss Thomas Frank in order to get a sense of his plans.

Saudi clubs are willing to pay Spurs £34m plus add-ons to land their star man, while there is also interest from Turkey and the MLS. Son himself could rake in over £25m per season if he makes a move to Saudi Arabia.

Son will have a meeting with Thomas Frank at Spurs

Ben Jacobs exclusively told Spurs Web: “There is a chance Heung-min Son leaves Tottenham this summer, but if he does depart, it will be on his own terms. He has been a phenomenal player for Spurs, and a brilliant dressing room influence and role model. Triggering his one-year extension was never a guarantee that he’ll stay. It was also a means to protect his value in case a club comes in this summer.

“Key to what happens next is Son’s own meeting with Thomas Frank, and we might not know whether an exit is possible until the final weeks of the window.

“Son is highly likely to travel to South Korea and play against Newcastle in a pre-season friendly. He is contractually obligated to appear as long as he’s still at the club.

“From there, it’s going to be up to the Spurs captain. I don’t get the impression Spurs will push to sell so much as respect Son’s wishes either way.

“Son will be aware Spurs are still looking at another left-sided versatile attacker even though Mathys Tel has signed permanently. It could be that he feels too far down the pecking order for his liking in a World Cup year, but I don’t think right now any decision has been made.

“Saudi Arabia have been chasing Son since 2023 and he is still a target now. Al-Ahli, Al-Nassr and Al Qadsiah are three clubs to have expressed interest, while central dealmakers indicate they would be prepared to pay €40 million [£34m] plus add-ons for the South Korean.

“Al-Ahli are seeking a marquee signing and still hoping to strengthen on the left despite the arrival of winger Galeno from Porto in January. Vinicius Jr is another ambitious name on their list, but a tough transfer to pull off.

“Saudi dealmakers are prepared to offer Son around €30m [£25.6m]-per-season, and view Son’s potential arrival as a way of not just adding a star but also getting a return on investment via an anticipated TV rights deal in South Korea should he join. Son also has options in MLS and Turkey.”
