Description

Tottenham Hotspur are in the market for a new centre-back this summer, although the level of signing may depend on Cristian Romero’s future. Ben Jacobs has exclusively told Spurs Web three names to keep an eye on this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur have already made their most significant change of the summer transfer window by swapping Europa League hero, Ange Postecoglou, for Brentford boss, Thomas Frank.

However, Spurs fans will be expecting plenty of transfer activity over the coming weeks as the Dane looks to shape the squad in his image – a squad that struggled down in 17th in the Premier League last season.

The Lilywhites have technically made two additions to the team already this summer, although both are familiar faces. Kevin Danso’s loan to Tottenham has become permanent after the £21m obligation to buy was triggered.

Mathys Tel has also joined Spurs on a £29.6m permanent deal following his loan move for the second half of last season. Tottenham will be over the moon at that deal, having talked Bayern Munich down from £45m.

Tottenham want to keep Cristian Romero in North London

Cristian Romero is said to be getting phone calls almost every day from Diego Simeone as Atletico Madrid look to swoop for the Tottenham vice-captain.

However, Fabrizio Romano says he cannot see Spurs letting Romero leave this summer, while other reports have backed Thomas Frank to convince the World Cup-winner to stay.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham have been linked with a host of players already this summer – some expensive big-name stars billed as Romero replacements, and others up-and-coming squad players.

Ben Jacobs has exclusively informed Spurs Web that there is still no guarantee that Romero leaves Tottenham this summer, but the Lilywhites will want a player lined up just in case. He also added that Spurs may look for a defender who can cover both centre-back and left-back over the coming weeks.

While the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and Marc Guehi have been regularly linked with Tottenham, Jacobs has also named Koni De Winter and Jorrel Hato as two names to look out for.

Spurs Web has learned that Jarrad Branthwaite could cost Tottenham around the £70m mark, while De Winter would likely only be between £21m and £26m.

Jorrel Hato is just 19 years old but played 50 games at left-back and centre-back for Ajax last season, while recording two goals and six assists. However, Spurs will have to fight Arsenal and Chelsea for his signature.

Marc Guehi has been heavily linked with Liverpool in recent days, which could rule Tottenham out of the race for the Crystal Palace star.

Tottenham are looking at Jarrad Branthwaite, Koni De Winter, and Jorrel Hato

Ben Jacobs exclusively told Spurs Web: “Firstly, there is no guarantee Cuti Romero departs, even though he is on record as saying he wants to play in LaLiga one day. Atletico Madrid were considering a bid at around €40m (£34m) with add-ons back in May, and Spurs would likely ask for significantly more. It’s hard to see Daniel Levy sanctioning a sale without making a healthy profit on the €50m (£42.7m) paid.

“Spurs would also want a replacement lined up even if the valuation was met. Koni De Winter is one name of interest and available for around €25-€30m (£21.4m-£25.7m).

“I sense Tottenham might go for a centre-back who is also comfortable at full-back, even though Djed Spence has really reignited his Spurs career. That could allow Archie Gray to move into midfield. And left-sided defensive cover may also be considered. Ajax’s Jorrel Hato is one name of interest, and Tottenham face competition with both Arsenal and Chelsea.

“Jarrad Branthwaite and Marc Guehi are more costly outlays. I don’t see Everton selling Branthwaite for under £70m, or even at all, and I am not aware of anything of note yet from Spurs on that front. I think most clubs know Everton’s asking price hasn’t dropped.

Tottenham in four-horse race to sign versatile Juventus star, but he won’t be cheap

Tottenham in four-horse race to sign versatile Juventus star, but he won’t be cheap - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in backing Thomas Frank with a versatile Juventus wide-man, but the Lilywhites have been joined in the race by a Premier League rival and two European clubs.

There is a lot of uncertainty over what Tottenham Hotspur will look like next season as the club embark on a new era under Thomas Frank, and the supporters are waiting to see what sort of system he employs at N17.

Frank showed during his time at Brentford that he is a versatile coach, and he was no stranger to deploying three at the back, and that might explain why Spurs have been linked with several wing-backs over recent weeks.

We have heard that Tottenham are interested in Botafogo left-back Cuiabano, while we have also heard suggestions that Spurs may make an approach to re-sign Kyle Walker-Peters.

Timothy Weah is now on Tottenham’s radar

It was reported this week that Juventus’ Timothy Weah has emerged as a target for Tottenham. Now, a second source has backed up that particular transfer rumour.

Weah is very versatile, having featured as a conventional right-back, a wing-back and a wing-forward for the Bianconeri, and it is perhaps this versatility that appeals to Frank.

TEAMTalk report that Spurs and Everton are both interested in securing the USA international, who scored six goals and provided five assists across all competitions last season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This reinforces what Foot Mercato said earlier this week, as both Premier League sides have allegedly made contact over a deal for the 25-year-old.

Weah is said to be on Everton’s shortlist for a new right winger, while Tottenham want to back Thomas Frank with attacking reinforcements. However, RB Leipzig have made contact with Juventus about a possible deal, while Atletico Madrid also admire the winger.

As the race heats up, it is said that Juventus will not let Weah leave on the cheap this summer.

Is Weah a Fabio Paratici recommendation?

Reports indicate that Fabio Paratici is expected to re-join Tottenham in a formal role this summer once his FIFA ban expires.

However, even if he does not and continues being a consultant on paper, Paratici is expected to play a key role in this new era at Spurs, alongside the club’s new CEO, Vinai Venkatesham.

We know that the 52-year-old knows the ins and outs of the Italian market and given his long-standing relationship with Juventus, he might be the one driving Tottenham’s pursuit of Weah.

Tottenham tipped to take tempting £25m deal if it arrives this summer

Description

Football finance expert Stefan Borson is of the opinion that Daniel Levy will sanction a summer sale for half the asking price that has been mooted in the press over recent weeks.

According to reports, Thomas Frank has given the green light for Tottenham to cash in on Son, who has just a year left in his contract in North London.

It has been alleged the Tottenham boss is happy for the South Korean to stay at Spurs, but only if he accepts that a bit-part role during the upcoming season.

The confirmation of that came when Frank failed to mention Son among the players he is looking forward to working with, instead naming Dominic Solanke, Rodrigo Bentancur and James Maddison as the senior Tottenham stars he is excited to manage.

How much will Tottenham demand for Heung-min Son?

It was reported last week by Football Asian that, amidst interest from Saudi Pro League clubs, Spurs will demand £50m for Son’s services, which reflects his value to the club both on and off the pitch.

A few days ago, journalist Ben Jacobs suggested that Saudi clubs are willing to offer €40m (£34m) for the Tottenham captain, with Al Ahli, Al Nassr and Al Qadsiah thought to be at the front of the queue to land the forward.

Stefan Borson has now said that an offer of £25m would be enough to convince Levy to sell the Asian superstar since the Lilywhites will be keen to take his salary off their wage bill.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked how much Tottenham will demand for Son, Borson told Football Insider: “Clearly, he is a big cost. He’s probably the biggest earner. It’s a case of really how much contribution is he going to make next season? His contribution has been waning over the last couple of seasons.

“You would think that if they could get £25 million out of Saudi, then that would make a lot of sense for Spurs. It’s the sort of deal that you would think Daniel Levy would want to do, and it would make a lot of sense for Son as well because the sort of money that he would get with the tax break would be very attractive.

“I think Spurs will just have to deal with the loss of the South Korean impact. I think they did sign a South Korean youngster last summer, just presumably to try and maintain some continuity with that attractiveness to the South Korean market.

“But I think it’s going to be the wrong way around if you’re paying Son just to stay, effectively to be a mascot for the South Korean market. I think that’s unlikely.

“From a footballing perspective, I think now could well be the time for him to leave. But probably it’s one of these where only Saudi could do that deal given his wages. The question is always with Saudi interest, is that something that the player would even contemplate?”

Why all signs point to a Spurs exit for Son this summer

The worrying thing for Tottenham Hotspur fans is that there have been no reports of the club considering entering into contract talks with the 32-year-old.

If Spurs were planning on hanging onto the forward, one would have expected them to initiate exploratory talks with his representatives already.

Daniel Levy’s Tottenham valuation is labelled a pipe dream by finance expert

Daniel Levy’s Tottenham valuation is labelled a pipe dream by finance expert - Spurs Web
Description

Football finance expert Stefan Borson is convinced that Daniel Levy has been working on securing investment into the club for a long time and has reacted to reports of the club agreeing a minority sale that gives Tottenham a valuation of £5 billion.

Many Tottenham fans want to see the back of Daniel Levy and ENIC, as evidenced by the spate of protests we saw last season.

Some view the lack of investment into the club during their tenure as something that is holding Spurs back, and it is hard to argue with that, given that ENIC have only invested £122m into Tottenham since 2001.

It has been rumoured over recent months that a group of private investors from Qatar have shown interest in a takeover of Spurs, but much to the consternation of the Tottenham supporters, nothing has materialised so far.

Stefan Borson reacts to Tottenham’s £5 billion valuation

It was reported earlier this month that Spurs were in talks over selling a minority stake in a deal which values the whole club at £5 billion.

Stefan Borson has now confirmed that Daniel Levy has been on the lookout for investment into the club over the past two years but insisted that there is no chance that any potential investor would see eye-to-eye with him on the £5 billion figure.

Borson told Football Insider: “If they were to get a deal done at £5 billion, it would establish it at the very pinnacle of football evaluations. I think it’s highly unlikely. It’s kind of just about believable if it were for the entire thing in that it got control, but for a minority stake, then it’s even more unlikely. I don’t believe the £5 billion.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“We know that they’ve been looking for a long time for external investment or a sale. That’s been touted for literally years and admitted as much by Spurs. If you had to look at not their last report on their accounts, but the one before, they specifically said that they were in the process to try and find an investor or third-party buyer.

“It’s no secret that they’ve been looking, but it’s been a long time that they’ve been looking and that does suggest that their expectation of value doesn’t match where the market is. “I don’t see that the signs are there for increased valuations above and beyond the sort of multiples that Chelsea got when that was sold.”

Are ENIC about to change their approach this summer?

Over recent weeks, some outlets have claimed that the ENIC Group are taking ‘a greater interest’ in Tottenham Hotspur’s operations.

The Telegraph even predicted earlier this month that Tottenham’s owners are ready to pump significant funds into the club this summer after they meet with Levy.

That will come as a welcome change, with Thomas Frank needing significant help in the transfer window if the Lilywhites are to challenge the big-hitters in the Premier League.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on landing a Premier League striker who scored 19 goals last season, but they face competition from a host of other clubs, including their fierce rivals Arsenal.

While a lot has been said and written about Tottenham’s efforts to reunite Thomas Frank with Bryan Mbeumo, the Lilywhites are also thought to be eyeing a move for the Cameroonian’s strike partner.

It has been reported that since Frank joined, Tottenham have also discussed a move for Yoane Wissa, who has emerged as one of the most prolific centre-forwards in the Premier League over the last year and a half.

A new report has now shed light on the ensuing battle for the 28-year-old’s signature and Brentford’s stance on the striker.

Tottenham could battle Arsenal for Yoane Wissa

TEAMtalk have now confirmed that Wissa is indeed on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar this summer, claiming that he is now seen as a ‘prime target’ by the Lilywhites.

The outlet states that Frank’s men face competition from several clubs, including their North London rivals, Arsenal, who are said to be fans of the Bees star.

However, neither club has made a formal move for the DR Congo international, with the Gunners also said to be plotting a move for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet adds that Brentford are reluctant to lose Wissa and have slapped a £50m price tag on the player, even though he has just a year left on his deal at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Three more clubs are keen on landing Wissa

TEAMtalk say that among Premier League sides, Nottingham Forest are ‘particularly keen’ on landing the 28-year-old this summer.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men had a £22m bid for Wissa rejected in January, and they are now prepared to reignite their pursuit of the player.

Additionally, Fenerbahce are ‘very keen’ on securing the experienced striker’s services, while Galatasaray have now also entered the race, with both Turkish clubs willing to pay €30-32m (£25.6-£27.4m) for the former Lorient man.

Tottenham may have to find new centre-back target after latest Marc Guehi update - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have just been handed a big blow in their pursuit of Marc Guehi as a new report has shed light on what the Crystal Palace defender has decided about his next destination.

With speculation continuing to persist over Cristian Romero’s future at Tottenham, the Lilywhites may be in the market for a top-class centre-back to replace the Argentine.

Guehi has been on Spurs’ wishlist for a long time and with the centre-back now having just one year left on his deal at Selhurst Park, the North Londoners may sense an opportunity to pounce this summer. Spurs even had a £70m bid turned down for Guehi on deadline day back in January.

However, it has been widely reported that Tottenham are expected to face intense competition for Guehi’s services, and the centre-back has now allegedly made up his mind on who he wants to join.

Marc Guehi is ready to snub Tottenham in favour of Liverpool

Football Insider have now backed Liverpool to push ahead with a move for Marc Guehi, and they reveal that the Palace man wants a switch to Anfield.

Despite attracting interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle, Chelsea and Liverpool, the 24-year-old has made it clear that he wants to join the Premier League champions this summer.

Arne Slot’s side are now in pole position to land Guehi, who is said to be holding out for a move to Merseyside, with the defender having told his friends of his desire to join the Champions.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Liverpool are expected to submit a bid of over £50m for the England international imminently and they hope it will be enough to clinch the deal.

Tottenham have turned their attention to Guehi alternatives

This report will not surprise Spurs fans as it was claimed by The Times earlier this month that Guehi had rejected Tottenham’s advances.

Over the last two weeks, some outlets have said that Spurs are stepping up their interest in Jarrad Branthwaite, who is thought to be valued at £70m by Everton.

Description

According to Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe, there has been a big change in Crystal Palace’s stance on Eberechi Eze, which might significantly boost Spurs’ chance of landing the versatile attacker.

According to reports over recent days, Frank is prioritising strengthening Tottenham’s attack this summer, amidst the possibility that Heung-min Son might exit the club.

Over the last few months, several outlets have installed Spurs as one of the front-runners to sign Eze, who has a £68m release clause in his Crystal Palace contract.

It was reported by TBR Football last week that Thomas Frank had greenlighted Tottenham’s pursuit of Eze, with the Danish coach thought to be a big fan of the Palace star.

Tottenham receive a major boost in Eberechi Eze pursuit

There was previously one major complication in Spurs’ efforts to land the Eagles attacker, which pertained to his release clause.

Several sources had stated that Eze’s full £68m clause had to be paid upfront instead of in instalments, as transfers are usually structured.

However, Paul O’Keefe has now taken to social media to claim that Oliver Glasner’s men have changed their stance and are willing to accept the Eze fee in three £20m instalments.

Spurs have identified other alternatives to Eze

It is unclear if the 26-year-old is at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist, with several reports claiming that Spurs have identified Eze as an alternative to Bryan Mbuemo.

Various outlets have also said that Bournemouth’s Antonie Semenyo is another Eze alternative being eyed by Tottenham.

Tottenham Hotspur are now eyeing a move for an experienced Serie A centre-back in case they need to replace Cristian Romero, but they have to battle two Premier League rivals to land the player this summer.

Amidst the ongoing speculation over Cristian Romero’s Tottenham future, it has been widely reported that Thomas Frank is prioritising signing a centre-back this summer.

There have been suggestions over recent days that Tottenham may step up their pursuit of Jarrad Branthwaite, who is thought to be keen on leaving Everton in search of Champions League football.

However, it has now been suggested that Spurs may instead prioritise a move for a Bologna man, who has developed impressively over the last two years.

Tottenham backed to make a move for Jhon Lucumi

It first emerged last month that Tottenham had scouted Bologna’s Jhon Lucumi, with the North London club said to have been impressed by the centre-back’s performances.

Now, journalist Alexis Rodriguez has taken to social media to reveal that Tottenham Hotspur have expressed an interest in bringing Lucumi to N17 this summer.

Rodriguez claims that the Lilywhites view the 26-year-old as a potential replacement for Romero, who continues to be linked with a move to Atletico Madrid.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The journalist adds that Premier League rivals Wolves and Brighton have held talks with Lucumi while AS Roma are also plotting a move for the centre-back.

Tottenham will find out Cristian Romero’s fate very soon

According to reports, Tottenham have not given up hope of tying Romero to a new contract this summer.

It has been suggested that Spurs hope that Champions League football and a significant pay rise would convince Romero to stay at the club.

Juventus are now plotting an ambitious move to sign Mikey Moore from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, and they believe that one factor could help them pull off an unlikely deal.

Moore is widely seen as a generational talent, not just in Hotspur Way, but in the broader footballing industry as evidenced by the interest in the 17-year-old’s services.

Over recent weeks, it has been rumoured that Borussia Dortmund and others are eyeing a summer deal for Moore, just a year on from the teenager signing his first professional contract with Spurs.

However, several sources have said that Moore is expected to sign a new contract at Tottenham when he turns 18 in August.

Juventus are plotting a move for Tottenham’s Mikey Moore

According to a report in Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Juventus are now ready to push forward with an audacious move to sign the Tottenham academy graduate.

The report says that Moore’s profile appears to the Bianconeri, who want to make him part of their young spine alongside Kenan Yildiz.

Interestingly, the outlet points out that Juve’s general manager, Damien Comolli, who was formerly Tottenham’s director of football, has a very good relationship with the North London club.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Comolli plans to take advantage of this relationship to secure a deal for the England Under-19 international, who is alleged to be valued at €20m (£15.3m) this summer.

Moore’s words suggest that he will remain at Spurs

Spurs fans would not have to be too concerned about these rumours as the 17-year-old winger recently made his intentions clear about his future.

Last week, Moore admitted that he is excited to work with Thomas Frank and to catch the Dane’s eye during pre-season.

Description

Tottenham’s chances of landing Marc Guehi, which already appeared very slim, have now been reduced even further amidst news that Liverpool are ready to step up their pursuit of the Crystal Palace star.

Amidst the ongoing speculation over Cristian Romero’s future, a whole host of centre-backs have been linked with a move to Spurs over recent months.

That includes the Palace captain, with several reliable sources, including Alasdair Gold, claiming Guehi has been a long-term target for Spurs.

It was previously reported that Tottenham are expected to face competition from Newcastle United for Guehi, and now, it turns out that the Lilywhites may have to contend with a challenge from an even bigger club in the race to land the England international.

Liverpool are ready to launch an offer for Guehi

The Telegraph have now claimed that Liverpool are ready to launch a ‘significant offer’ for Marc Guehi as they aim to shore up their backline.

The Premier League champions are expected to sell Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen to fund a move for the Eagles star.

While Palace are yet to receive a formal offer for Guehi, Liverpool are currently said to be in pole position to land the England international, who the Reds want to pair with Virgil van Dijk at the back.

The outlet makes a mention of Newcastle’s interest in the 24-year-old while also revealing that Chelsea are circling around the centre-back.

Tottenham have already identified a Marc Guehi alternative

It was reported by The Times two weeks ago that Tottenham had turned their attention to Jarrad Branthwaite after Guehi turned them down.

A few days ago, The Daily Mail even asserted that Spurs could make an approach for Branthwaite this week as they look to steal a march on the competition.
