Supercomputer changes mind on Tottenham prediction after just one Premier League game - Spurs Web
Description

The Opta Supercomputer, which has predicted how the Premier League table will finish, delivered a damning verdict on Tottenham Hotspur before the season began, but this has changed after their decisive victory over Burnley.

The Premier League became a living nightmare for Tottenham Hotspur last season. Spurs not only finished 17th, but suffered a shocking 22 defeats, which is double the number of matches Ange Postecoglou’s side won.

With this in mind, the Opta Supercomputer predicted Spurs to finish 14th, before the season got underway. Tottenham were tipped to record only 47.92 points, which is only around 10 more than last season.

Postecoglou began to prioritise the Europa League as Tottenham’s hopes for any success in the league dwindled. However, his success in Europe did not save him from facing the sack, so it is likely Frank will give the English top flight his full attention.

Opta Supercomputer places Tottenham higher after Burnley victory

Despite an initial pessimistic prediction, the Supercomputer has already placed Tottenham’s predicted finish three places higher, after Saturday’s 3-0 win saw them end the weekend in third.

The Supercomputer did expect Spurs to defeat Burnley and predicted that Thomas Frank and his team would sit in fourth after their opening fixture. However, the picture painted by the Supercomputer is still a bleak one, as Spurs are deemed more likely to be relegated than to qualify for the Champions League.

Their points tally has been raised to 50.08, but this would still not be enough for a top-half finish, with Bournemouth narrowly in front. The Cherries got off to a losing start, but in fairness, Liverpool away is one of the most difficult league fixtures.

What can Daniel Levy do to help Spurs finish higher in the Premier League?

Tottenham have completed five summer signings, including the Joao Paulinha loan move. However, most would agree that if no more business was to take place, it would be an underwhelming transfer window.

Daniel Levy, aided by Fabio Paratici, has the chance to change this for the better. Currently, Tottenham are likely to sign Eberechi Eze and bringing him to the club could have a direct impact on their overall finish, especially with the injuries suffered in attacking midfield.

However, Manchester City have closed the door on Savinho joining Tottenham. This came as disappointing news, but there is still time to find a viable alternative. Whatever the case, the Spurs board must do everything in their power to strengthen the Tottenham first-team squad and provide Frank with the tools he needs to have a strong league campaign.

Jamie Carragher predicts where Tottenham will finish in Premier League table

Jamie Carragher predicts where Tottenham will finish in Premier League table - Spurs Web
Description

Jamie Carragher has had his say on where he expects Tottenham Hotspur to finish in the Premier League table and if he is right, Spurs supporters could be disappointed.

Tottenham Hotspur are off to a winning start in the Premier League, but as the saying goes, it is a marathon, not a sprint. This proved true last season, as while Ange Postecoglou’s team had a decent first few months, they recorded the club’s worst-ever finish in the division.

However, Spurs finished fifth the season before. With England’s current UEFA coefficient ranking, this position now qualifies teams for the Champions League. The fact that this was not the case the season before last was actually key to Tottenham being placed in the Europa League, and the rest is history.

Many neutrals may choose to base their prediction on where Tottenham finished last season. However, it was a campaign with an unprecedented number of injuries and with the Eberechi Eze transfer rumours sounding positive, the Tottenham first-team squad will have been improved. Therefore, Spurs should finish much higher in the Premier League table.

Jamie Carragher predicts a top-six finish for Tottenham

Jamie Carragher has made his Premier League table prediction on Sky Sports and he believes Spurs will perform far better than last season. His prediction for the top five is identical to last season’s table, except for his decision to swap Manchester City and Arsenal around, putting Pep Guardiola’s men in second.

Nevertheless, there is a change in sixth place. Aston Villa pipped Nottingham Forest to the position last time out, but Carragher believes Tottenham will claim the position, which would be 11 places better than their previous result.

While this is a significant improvement, it would mean Spurs would have to settle for the Europa League. The only way to avoid this fate would be to win the Champions League and while Thomas Frank almost pulled off a masterclass against PSG, this would be a huge ask in any season, let alone his first.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Of course, there could be some who would be excited at the prospect of Spurs claiming a fourth European trophy. Supporters of clubs like Sevilla can certainly vouch that repeatedly winning the same trophy never gets old.

Where should Spurs aim to finish in the Premier League?

While Tottenham are yet to experience any new injuries since the start of the new season, players such as Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison remain out with long-term issues. Also, their transfer business so far has not been overly convincing. Mohammed Kudus looks the part, but there is little evidence that any other new signings will be regular starters.

Spurs have not sold many players, but they have lost Heung-min Son. The former captain may have been past his prime, but he was still tied for most Premier League goal contributions at the club last season.

On the other hand, Tottenham are under new management and Frank looks like he knows what he is doing. He has already showcased his ability to adapt his tactics depending on the opposition and Spurs look a more balanced side. If his players are able to deliver, there is no reason for him not to aim for a top-five finish.

Mikey Moore delivers bold statement of intent for his Tottenham Hotspur future

Mikey Moore delivers bold statement of intent for his Tottenham Hotspur future - Spurs Web
Description

Mikey Moore has made known his extraordinary objectives for his Tottenham career and if there is one thing he does not lack, it is confidence.

Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters were disappointed to see Mikey Moore sent out on loan. The 18-year-old only made 10 Premier League appearances last season, so there was anticipation about how he could perform if he were to get more minutes under his belt.

It was thought that Borussia Dortmund were interested in Moore before he made the move to Scotland. A permanent transfer would not have gone down well at Tottenham, but a loan to a team as good as Dortmund would have been a great learning experience for the young talent.

As things went, he signed on loan for Rangers. The Scottish Premiership may provide Moore with as high a level of opposition as the Bundesliga would have, but he still has the chance to play in the Champions League.

The Glasgow outfit are just one tie away from qualifying for Europe’s biggest competition, but it will not be easy, as they are up against Club Brugge.

Mikey Moore states his ambitious career target at Tottenham

Domestically, Moore has already got off to a good start. He played just under 70 minutes of Rangers’ League Cup tie against Alloa Athletic on Saturday and registered an assist in the process.

Alloa are only a third-tier club, but Moore will have plenty of time to prove his worth, including against Celtic at the end of the month.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The winger believes this is just his starting point, as he will attempt to keep improving throughout his career. He made a bombshell statement on Sky Sports, which shows the level he is reaching for.

Moore said: “I want to be one of the best players in the world, hopefully.”

He added: “I want to go out and play in the biggest competitions. It’s massive for me. I’ve signed a new contract at Spurs, but at the minute I’m focused on playing here [Rangers], so I’m just buzzing to go and play some massive games for this football club.”

What will the future hold for Mikey Moore?

The likes of Celtic and Rangers prefer to make their loan signings permanent, but it is highly unlikely Moore will stay in Scotland permanently.

He will gain valuable experience playing for a team that held Spurs to a draw in the Europa League last season, but this will be to prepare him for his return to Tottenham.

Currently, Spurs lack options on the left wing and Moore might actually have benefitted from remaining at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, he will also benefit from being able to play on a weekly basis and this could be a key stepping stone if he is to reach his ultimate goal and join football’s elite players.

Tottenham trio named in WhoScored’s Premier League Team of the Week

Tottenham trio named in WhoScored’s Premier League Team of the Week - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur were one of the top-performing teams in the opening round of the Premier League, and WhoScored have recognised this by naming three Spurs players in their team of the week.

Tottenham Hotspur got off to a fine start in the Premier League with a 3-0 thrashing of Burnley. The result came as no surprise, with Spurs having won the previous four meetings between the sides. On top of this, Burnley have never picked up a point at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The last time they did away to Spurs was at Wembley Stadium in 2017.

Richarlison scored twice during the match and both goals were assisted by new signing Mohammed Kudus. Adding to the positivity, Brennan Johnson found himself on the scoresheet, after facing criticism for his pre-season performances. His goal was assisted by Pape Matar Sarr, who experienced the complete opposite during Tottenham’s friendlies.

The result has placed Spurs in the top three of the Premier League table, which makes their next fixture all the more interesting. Thomas Frank will lead his team to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City this Saturday, the team top of the league after they obliterated Wolves.

Tottenham stars dominate the WhoScored team of the week

The WhoScored team of the week has dropped and there are more players included from Tottenham than any other team.

Richarlison was almost the highest-rated player in the team, just 0.2 points lower than Sunderland’s Daniel Ballard, who kept a clean sheet against West Ham. Mohammed Kudus and Pape Matar Sarr were included too, with ratings of 8.65 and 8.40 respectively.

The only other teams to have more than one player named in the team of the week were Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. The reigning champions put four goals past Bournemouth on an emotional night where tributes were paid to Diogo Jota, while Forest saw off Brentford.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Every Spurs player listed struggled last season

As well as new signings, it is useful to possess players who improve over time. Kudus himself is a new signing, but he was criticised at West Ham last season for failing to reach the heights he hit the previous year. However, his Tottenham performances so far have been exceptional.

Richarlison is another player who struggled last season and there was even a question mark surrounding his Spurs future. This has not distracted the forward from his ultimate goal and he will be delighted after his display last weekend.

Even Sarr did not have the greatest season last time out. He made his highest number of appearances for the club, but Spurs supporters would often groan when he was named in the midfield alongside Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma. His recent displays have certainly changed attitudes towards him, as he has shown he possesses attacking flair.

With Tottenham’s lesser players stepping up and changing their fortunes, Spurs will hugely benefit. The whole squad will be needed and if those who have struggled in the past keep finding their feet, this will be a great help to the club.

West Ham chief reveals two reasons she sold Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham

West Ham chief reveals two reasons she sold Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

West Ham vice chair Karren Brady gives two reasons why West Ham decided to sell Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham this summer.

A big priority for Tottenham this transfer window was to sign a left-footed winger due to their lack of options in that area.

For weeks, it looked like Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo would be the man, especially after Thomas Frank made the switch from west London to north London. But when Mbeumo chose to join boyhood club Manchester United, Spurs were forced to look elsewhere.

That opened the door for Mohammed Kudus, who was wanted by only a handful of clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United and Saudi side Al Nassr. Regardless, Spurs were the quickest to seal the deal.

Kudus signed a six-year contract with Tottenham and became the first player since Scott Parker in 2011 to swap West Ham for Tottenham.

Not many Tottenham fans expected to see Kudus walk through the doors at Hotspur Way, considering this was the same player who was once banned for five matches after clashing with almost half of the Spurs team last season.

Moreover, Kudus came to Spurs directly from London rivals West Ham in a £55 million deal that unsurprisingly left the majority of the East London Club’s supporters fuming.

MORE SPURS STORIES

While Kudus’ numbers last season were modest, 5 goals and 4 assists in 35 games, he was still considered one of West Ham’s brighter sparks in a poor fourteenth-placed campaign.

Tottenham saw the potential and, so far, the move is paying off. After shining in pre-season, the Ghanaian lit up the Super Cup before making his Premier League debut with two assists in Spurs’ 3-0 opening-day win over Burnley.

Karren Brady explains West Ham’s decision on Mohammed Kudus

Speaking to talkSPORT about Kudus’ departure, West Ham vice chair Karren Brady admitted it was not easy letting him go, but financial pressures ultimately forced their hand.

She said: “It’s always difficult to lose players that you want to keep. But the financial restraints and the PSR and all the rules and regulations in football mean that you have to do some trading. That’s just the way it is.

“All clubs are having to do it. You’re either restricted on what you can buy because you have to be careful of the financial rules, or you have to sell to try and buy. So that was the decision that was made.”

She added that form also played a part in the decision, saying: “He didn’t have a particularly good season for West Ham last year by his own standards. So we looked to move on.”

Mohammed Kudus’ future at Tottenham looks bright

It does not take a genius to see that Kudus has settled quickly into life at Tottenham. His versatility alone makes him a valuable asset.

He is equally comfortable cutting in from the right, operating on the left, or even through the middle. West Ham often used him in different roles, and Thomas Frank will no doubt enjoy the same flexibility.

That is crucial for Spurs, who still lack an experienced left-sided option. Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert are both raw talents who cannot yet be relied upon week in, week out. Once Dejan Kulusevski returns from injury, Frank could easily field Kudus on the left, giving Spurs arguably the strongest front line.

For now, Tottenham fans can only be glad West Ham decided to sell. Kudus may have been considered dispensable in East London, but in North London, he is already looking like the signing of the summer.

Tottenham fans will enjoy what ‘fighter’ Djed Spence just said after signing new contract

Tottenham fans will enjoy what ‘fighter’ Djed Spence just said after signing new contract - Spurs Web
Description

Djed Spence has expressed his delight at signing a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur and has reflected on the up-and-down journey he has had at the North London club so far.

There was a lot of excitement at Tottenham when Spence was signed in the summer of 2022, but it immediately became clear that the full-back was going to struggle to get game time after Antonie Conte described Spence as a ‘club signing’.

The Englishman hardly got a look-in under the Italian and was shipped out on loan to the Championship. He also failed to make an impression on Ange Postecoglou initially, with the defender being sent on loan to Rennes and Genoa during the 2023-24 season.

However, just when it looked like his Tottenham career was dead and buried, Spence managed to salvage it last season, and he never looked back after breaking into the side due to Destiny Udogie’s injury.

Djed Spence wants to build on breakthrough Tottenham season

Thomas Frank and his coaching staff have been quick to identify the full-back as an important player, with Spence signing a new four-year deal last week.

The defender has admitted that he is delighted to put pen to paper on a new contract and expressed a desire to build on his performances from last season.

Spence told Tottenham’s official channel: “I’m over the moon. I’m happy to sign, and I just can’t wait to start the season. I just want to keep playing well and reach higher levels.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Personally, I think it was a great season for myself. Probably my breakthrough season, you could say, in the Premier League. I was happy with myself, and hopefully this year I can continue that and get to new heights.”

Spence says difficult moments at Spurs have helped him grow

It has been anything but smooth sailing for Spence at Tottenham, and most players may have given up on their hopes of making it at the club after being shipped out on loan by successive managers.

However, the former Middlesbrough man has fought to establish himself as a key player at Spurs and admits he has matured over the last few years.

Spence added: “Everyone has trials and tribulations, but you know I’m a fighter, so I always work hard, try to do my best and come back from there.

“It’s been difficult. It’s been a rollercoaster road, for every challenge I’ve been resilient and fast forward, I’m here now, and I’m happy, so I’m just over the moon with everything.

“I’ve definitely grown. I’ve learned a lot over the past few years, being in different countries, learning new things.”

Rodrigo Bentancur rumours rubbished as Tottenham seek new contract talks

Rodrigo Bentancur rumours rubbished as Tottenham seek new contract talks - Spurs Web
Description

Rodrigo Bentancur only has one year remaining on his Tottenham Hotspur contract and an update has been revealed on his future.

Rodrigo Bentancur joined Tottenham Hotspur in January 2022 and a lot has changed since then. Arriving as an Antonio Conte signing, he has since played under two different managers, as well as two caretakers in Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason.

The Uruguayan midfielder has made 115 appearances during that time, bagging nine goals and eight assists. He played every minute of Tottenham’s Europa League-winning campaign from the quarter-final onwards.

However, despite his regular appearances in the Tottenham first-team, Bentancur only has a year remaining on his contract. This has led to questions over whether the 28-year-old will extend his stay in North London, or look to sign for another club.

Tottenham look to tie Rodrigo Bentancur down to a new contract

Reports in Turkey have claimed Fenerbahce are interested in signing Benatancur and have already made an opening bid, but Standard Sport have rubbished these claims.

Rather, Tottenham view Bentancur as a key part of Thomas Frank’s plans and have no intentions to sell him this summer. Frank has been impressed by Bentancur since taking charge and sees him as an important player. Therefore, there is hope that a new deal can be agreed to keep him at the club.

If a midfielder does leave Spurs this summer, it is more likely to be Yves Bissouma. He also has a year remaining on his contract, but was not selected in the Tottenham first-team squad for the UEFA Super Cup due to disciplinary reasons.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Bentancur will likely remain first-choice under Thomas Frank at Spurs

Despite slotting home his penalty in the shootout against PSG, Bentancur was left out of the starting lineup against Burnley.

However, this could have been done to rest him after the midweek trip abroad. The fact Spurs were up against the Premier League newcomers may also have been taken into consideration, as it was not a difficult game to win.

Archie Gray has not yet done enough to challenge Bentancur in the starting lineup and Bissouma has always been viewed as secondary to the former Juventus man.

His main competition will probably come from Lucas Bergvall and Pape Matar Sarr. The Swede was exceptional against Burnley, while Sarr had an electric pre-season.

However, Bentancur possesses a wealth of experience, and should he sign a new contract, one would expect him to be selected most weeks. He certainly has something to offer in England and if truth be told, a move to Turkey at this point in his career would be a bit of a waste.

Harry Redknapp selects Tottenham duo in his first Premier League Team of the Week

Harry Redknapp selects Tottenham duo in his first Premier League Team of the Week - Spurs Web
Description

Harry Redknapp has named his Premier League team of the week after matchday one and he is full of praise for Tottenham Hotspur after they put Burnley to the sword.

The Premier League is back and Tottenham Hotspur supporters will be feeling pretty good after a straightforward victory against Burnley. Scott Parker’s men put in a respectable first-half performance, but they could not cope with Spurs in the second half, resulting in a decisive triumph.

Richarlison was the standout player, scoring in both halves. His scissor kick was the best goal of the weekend by some distance and he is already just two goals away from matching his tally from last season.

Recognition must also be given to Thomas Frank, who got his team playing good attacking football, whilst also keeping a clean sheet. There were no signs of emotional fatigue from the UEFA Super Cup, despite how disappointing a result that was, considering Spurs held the lead for so long.

Harry Redknapp names two Tottenham men in Team of the Week

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has named his BetVictor team of the week, and he has picked Frank as his top manager. He praised the new boss for getting a response out of his team after the disappointments of midweek.

Redknapp said: “Regis Le Bris is a bit unlucky, but I’m going with Thomas Frank as my manager of the week.

“After losing quite unfortunately against PSG, he got the team ready for this one and Spurs cruised it. This could be an exciting season for Spurs, I’m a big fan of the new boss.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Redknapp also recognised the efforts of Richarlison. He named the Brazilian forward in a front three alongside Nottingham Forest’s Chris Wood and Hugo Ekitike of Liverpool.

He said: “Richarlison’s underrated for me. He was brilliant for Spurs at the weekend and boy; did he take those two goals well!

“This is a lad that was starting for Brazil not too long ago, you don’t do that if you aren’t a very good player. It could be a big season for the lad.”

Harry Redknapp has changed his tune on Richarlison

The archives are out and in the past, Redknapp has not always been Richarlison’s biggest fan. Shortly after the 28-year-old arrived at Tottenham, Redknapp claimed Richarlison would not make the England squad. He even branded the striker as no better than Callum Wilson and nowhere near Harry Kane.

Around a year later, Redknapp said Richarlison was yet to convince him and this had been the case since he played for Everton.

Watch Tottenham’s Alfie Devine score after just seven minutes on first Preston start - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham academy graduate Alfie Devine needed just seven minutes of his first Championship start to get on the scoresheet, as he helped Preston North End to a 2-1 win over Leicester City.

Alfie Devine was one of several young Tottenham Hotspur players to head out on loan earlier this month, joining Championship side Preston North End for the 2025/26 season. The move came immediately after the midfielder signed a new contract with Spurs, keeping him tied down until the summer of 2027.

Tottenham Hotspur fans will remember the academy graduate for becoming their youngest-ever first-team goalscorer when he netted on his debut in the 2021 FA Cup.

Since then, Devine has had spells at Port Vale and Plymouth Argyle, where he racked up 11 goal contributions in 41 games across two seasons.

Last season, the 21-year-old midfielder spent his time with Belgian side Westerlo, playing alongside fellow Tottenham youngster Luka Vuskovic. Tested in multiple roles across midfield, he impressed with 7 goal contributions in 32 appearances.

Devine also had a brief taste of first-team football under new Spurs boss Thomas Frank this summer. He started against Reading in Frank’s very first game in charge, standing out in the first half when he created Tottenham’s only big chance.

He also came off the bench against Luton, where he was part of the wave of youngsters that caused late problems, although Spurs were unable to find the winner.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Ultimately, Frank felt a loan would better serve the youngster’s development, and it hasn’t taken him long to prove that was the right call.

Tottenham’s Alfie Devine makes instant impact against Leicester City

Alfie Devine’s first Championship start came in one of the toughest fixtures possible, away to former Premier League champions Leicester City, widely seen as one of the strongest sides in the division. But the Spurs loanee wasted no time in making his mark.

With just seven minutes on the clock, Devine raced through, rounded the Leicester goalkeeper and finished from a very tight angle around 20 yards out. The strike gave Preston an early lead and was later singled out for praise by manager Paul Heckingbottom.

Speaking after the match, Devine admitted he was delighted to open his account (LEP):

“Yeah, buzzing. I was questioning why he (the Leicester goalkeeper) came out at first. And then when I took it around him, obviously the angle was a bit tight and I just thought if I aim for the back post then it’s either going in, or someone’s tapping it in. Luckily, it went in.”

Preston eventually went on to seal a 2-1 win late on.

Alfie Devine looks ready to shine in the Championship

This is not Devine’s first taste of Championship football. He had a short loan spell with Plymouth last season, but he has admitted he wasn’t truly himself then. Now, after a valuable year abroad and another pre-season with Spurs, he feels ready to leave a real mark.

“My first time in the Championship, I thought that I wasn’t myself enough in a way,” he said. “I think that the game against QPR and today hopefully shows that I’m trying to prove myself a bit more in this league. It was vital (the year in Belgium). Living in another country and all that sort of stuff, I’m really glad I went there for that season.”

He’s already a fan favourite at Preston, with supporters chanting his name when he came on at Loftus Road earlier this month. Scoring on Saturday will only have made those chants even louder.

Alfie Devine looks set to finally make his big breakthrough at Championship level, and Tottenham will be watching closely as they will likely integrate him into the first team next year.

Eberechi Eze to Tottenham reports may be premature as frustrating new update emerges - Spurs Web
Description

A new update has emerged on whether Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal to sign Eberechi Eze, and it contradicts a different report.

Eberechi Eze to Tottenham Hotspur, where do we begin? With each passing day, Spurs supporters wait in anticipation for the 27-year-old to be announced as the club’s latest signing.

However, nobody seems too sure about what is actually going on. Different news outlets are reporting stories which fail to match up and at this current moment in time, Eze remains a Crystal Palace player.

Recently, Fabrizio Romano said Tottenham have an 85 per cent chance of signing Eze. An even more promising story was broken by Sacha Tavolieri, as he claimed Eze’s move to Tottenham was imminent.

Best of all, Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe said Tottenham had reached a verbal agreement with Crystal Palace for Eze.

Sky Sports refute claims Tottenham have sealed Eberechi Eze agreement

After a number of stories all pointing toward Eze joining Spurs, Sky Sports have revealed some frustrating news on the Eze front.

According to the sports news outlet, Tottenham have made no agreement with Crystal Palace to sign Eze. As a result, talks are still ongoing between the two parties.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It was previously reported that Crystal Palace are playing hardball with Tottenham over Eze, while Oliver Glasner said he expected Eze to start for Crystal Palace on Thursday. Therefore, it could be that Spurs do eventually agree a deal, but it will not be completed immediately.

Eze wants to join Spurs this summer

Eze has told some of his England teammates he wants to join Tottenham. He is eager to make the step up to Champions League football, which, in theory, could accelerate the move.

However, if anything was learned from the Morgan Gibbs-White saga, it is that things can very quickly change. Eze has just won the FA Cup and Community Shield and it is not unimaginable that he could somehow be persuaded to remain in South London.

To prevent any dramatic twists, Tottenham must finalise their negotiations and get Eze confirmed at the earliest possible date. Finding an alternative at this point in the transfer window would be a big inconvenience, so agreeing terms with Palace is a must.
