Tottenham Hotspur sack Ange Postecoglou on his two year anniversary - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have parted company with Ange Postecoglou, with Daniel Levy giving the Europa League winner the sack after two years despite ending a 17-year trophy drought.

The Australian manager did enjoy a successful few weeks at the helm of Spurs in his first ten games during the 2023/24 season, where he had Tottenham topping the Premier League table.

However, injuries have since hit his squad, and it has only derailed the club’s league trajectory ever since, with Postecoglou suffering more league defeats than wins in his 76 games in charge during his time at Hotspur Way, losing 34 Premier League matches, while winning 31.

The 59-year-old’s second season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has only raised more concerns about the form of the Lilywhites, as the north London club ended their 2024/25 campaign in 17th place, after losing 22 games.

Tottenham sack Ange Postecoglou after two turbulent seasons

Ange Postecoglou did manage to bring about success on the continental stage, winning Tottenham their first ever European trophy after 41 years, while also ending their 17-year wait for a piece of major honour.

However, that has proven to be no saving grace for the Australian, as Spurs have now confirmed his sacking after two full seasons as head coach of the Lilywhites.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It has been reported that Tottenham would have to pay Postecoglou a six-figure sum of £7 million should they pull the trigger, with Spurs having to pay Postecoglou a full year’s salary of £5 million, including a £2 million bonus for winning the Europa League.

Postecoglou joins long list of managers sacked by Spurs

Ange Postecoglou now joins the long list of 15 managers that have been sacked by Daniel Levy in his 24 years in charge of Spurs.

A list that includes the likes of Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte, Mauricio Pochettino, Nuno Espirito Santo, Andre Villas-Boas and the likes, some of whom have gone on to have successful managerial careers after.

Tottenham’s focus would now turn to identifying the man to lead the club forward as they look to plan for the 2025/26 season, with transfers and pre-season now in the mix.

Tottenham receive Benjamin Sesko transfer blow amidst ‘concrete talks’ - Spurs Web
Description

Amidst reports that Tottenham Hotspur are stepping up their interest in Benjamin Sesko, it has now emerged that the Lilywhites have been overtaken in the transfer race by their London rivals.

Sesko has developed into one of the best number nines in the Bundesliga since his move to Leipzig two years ago, with the striker finishing the 2024-25 campaign with 21 goals and six assists to his name.

It has been reported over recent weeks that after qualifying for the Champions League, Tottenham are ready to flex their financial muscle by making a move offer for Sesko.

This was backed up a few days ago by ESPN who confirmed that Sesko is one of two Leipzig stars that Spurs have their eye on, with the other one being attacking midfielder Xavi Simons.

Arsenal are in talks about signing Benjamin Sesko

However, Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of the 22-year-old just got a lot harder as it has emerged that their North London rivals have now launched a serious move for the striker.

This update comes from Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who reveals that Arsenal have now entered into ‘concrete talks’ over a deal for Sesko.

The Gunners have acquired all information regarding the Slovenian’s release clause and the payment structure.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The journalist makes no mention of Spurs in his update, naming Man United as the other club eyeing the Leipzig star, but he makes it clear that Arsenal are the only ones currently in contact with the Bundesliga club about the striker.

How much would teams have to pay for Sesko this summer?

The centre-forward has a €80m (£66.2m) release clause in his contract, and it was reported by GiveMeSport back in March that Tottenham are refusing to rule out activating Sesko’s release clause.

That update claimed that the Lilywhites’ interest in the Leipzig man is independent of their desire to land Mathys Tel permanently.

Bournemouth tell Tottenham how much Antoine Semenyo will now cost them - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have just been handed a massive blow in their pursuit of Antoine Semenyo, with a new report revealing that Bournemouth have informed the North Londoners that they will have to shell out an astronomical fee to sign the winger this summer.

Over the last few days, an increasing number of outlets have suggested that Tottenham may cash in on Heung-min Son amidst interest in Saudi Arabia.

If Spurs do let the attacker go, they will have to add significant firepower to their forward line, and they might turn to the exciting Bournemouth attacker.

Over the last few months, it has been widely reported that Tottenham are big fans of Antoine Semenyo and are ready to test the Cherries’ resolve with an offer for the winger.

Just a couple of days ago, journalist Dean Jones revealed that as the Saudi interest in Son grows, Tottenham are turning their gaze towards the Bournemouth man (Transfers From Paradise).

Tottenham have to break the bank to land Antoine Semenyo

GiveMeSport have now backed up Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Antoine Semenyo, claiming that the Lilywhites have identified the 25-year-old as the man to bolster their attack.

However, the outlet says that Spurs’ pursuit of the winger could be scuppered as Bournemouth are determined to keep hold of the player.

MORE SPURS STORIES

After losing Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid, the Cherries do not want to sell any of their other key players ahead of the 2025-25 campaign. The Cherries have thus made it clear to Tottenham and other suitors that it will take an offer of £75m to land Semenyo.

The outlet says that this has massively complicated matters for Spurs, with the club’s hopes of landing the Ghana international now in jeopardy.

Tottenham set to taste defeat in pursuit of another star Premier League forward

This update regarding Semenyo comes just days after the Lilywhites learned that Bryan Mbeumo prefers a move to Man United over Tottenham.

It was previously reported that Spurs were extremely keen on landing Mbeumo on the back of his most productive season in the Premier League so far.

While the Red Devils seem to be ahead of Tottenham in the race for the Cameroon international, the situation may change as Thomas Frank has now emerged as the frontrunner for the Spurs job.

If Tottenham are able to appoint the Dane, they would hope that he can persuade Mbeumo to follow him to North London.

Centre-back Tottenham sold last summer may be set for Premier League return - Spurs Web
Description

An academy graduate who Tottenham Hotspur let go last summer has had an exceptional 2024-25 campaign, and it has now emerged that he might make a cut-price return to the Premier League this summer.

The story of Japhet Tanganga at Tottenham is a major ‘what if’ moment as the youngster showed plenty of promise when he first broke into the first team back in 2020.

However, due to a combination of constant injuries as well as the revolving managerial door at Spurs, the defender only made 27 league appearances for the Lilywhites across four seasons before eventually sealing a permanent switch to Millwall last summer.

The centre-back was outstanding for the Lions last campaign as they missed out on the playoff spot on the final day of the season, with Tanganga winning the Supporters’ Club Player of the Season award.

Japhet Tanganga could return to the Premier League at a discount

It has now been revealed by journalist Richard Cawley that the centre-back has a release clause of just £1.2m in his contract with Millwall.

However, this clause can only be activated by the 20 clubs in the top flight, thus making the Tottenham academy graduate a bargain option for a few Premier League sides.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Meanwhile, Football Insider relay this information and reveal that Tanganga was the subject of interest from Wolves during the January window.

The outlet says that it might be difficult for Millwall to hang onto the Englishman if another Premier League club makes a move for him during the current transfer window.

Would Tottenham consider re-signing Tanganga?

It was recently pointed out by Alasdair Gold that Tottenham are extremely lacking in homegrown and club-trained players at the moment.

The journalist suggested that it is an issue that the club will need to address during the summer window ahead of their return to the Champions League.

Tanganga will qualify as both homegrown and club-trained, having come through the Hotspur Way academy, but the big question is whether the 26-year-old would accept a bit-part role at N17.

Tottenham eye two-time Serie A winner to replace Cristian Romero - Spurs Web
Description

Amidst fears that they might lose Cristian Romero this summer, Tottenham Hotspur may turn to a centre-back who has won the Scudetto twice in the last three years.

According to reports over recent days, Tottenham are expected to try their best to tie Romero to a new contract.

However, should they be unable to do so, Spurs are prepared to sell Romero to Atletico Madrid, with the Lilywhites expected to demand £60m for their vice-captain.

It was previously reported that Guehi has emerged as a frontrunner to replace Romero, but we have heard more recently that Guehi has turned down the chance to join Tottenham.

Tottenham eyeing move for the experienced Amir Rrahmani

Amidst reports linking the Argentine with a move to the Metropolitano Stadium, a new report in CalcioNapoli24 has now suggested that the Lilywhites may turn their attention to a Napoli man.

The outlet claims that Amir Rrahmani, who was an ever-present in Antonio Conte’s backline in the Serie A this season, is of interest to the North Londoners.

Rrahmani has two years left on his deal at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium, and a renewal has been put forward by the Italian champions.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, the outlet asserts that Tottenham Hotspur’s strong interest could ‘rock the boat’ in Napoli’s efforts to tie the 31-year-old down to a new contract.

Tottenham will face competition for Amir Rrahmani,

The outlet claims that a move to the Middle East might also be on the cards for the Kosovo international, who has ‘strong admirers’ from the Saudi Pro League.

Interestingly, it is suggested that Rrahmani’s agent may be using the interest from Spurs and Saudi Arabia to squeeze more money out of Napoli.

One thus cannot rule out the possibility that this speculation has been fed to the press by the centre-back’s representatives to improve their negotiating position with Conte’s side.

Ruud Gullit admits he sees himself in one Tottenham Hotspur defender

Ruud Gullit admits he sees himself in one Tottenham Hotspur defender - Spurs Web
Description

Former Chelsea man Ruud Gullit has lavished praise on one Tottenham man, admitting that he saw a bit of himself in the player when he first caught a glimpse of him.

Tottenham Hotspur had one of the worst defences in the Premier League across the 2024-25 season, conceding 65 goals across the 38-game campaign.

However, that does not tell the whole story as the Lilywhites were a much more formidable outfit defensively when Micky van de Ven started alongside Cristian Romero in the heart of their defence.

That was demonstrated in Tottenham’s march to the Europa League trophy, with Ange Postecoglou’s men keeping clean sheets away at Eintracht Frankfurt and Bodo/Glimt as well as in the final against Man United.

Ruud Gullit is a big fan of Tottenham’s Micky Van de Ven

Van de Ven arguably delivered the moment of the final, with his acrobatic goalline clearance ensuring that the Lilywhites saw off the 1-0 win.

Gullit has now admitted that he is a big fan of the Netherlands international, revealing that he saw a bit of himself in the Spurs man when he saw him as a youngster.

The Dutch legend told Voetbal Primeur about Van de Ven: “The first time I saw him, I recognised myself because I always played defender too. He always went forward and was very fast.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I thought he was a good footballer, but I didn’t expect it to go so fast either. He’s very fast, big, strong, so he already had all the ingredients to become very good.”

Spurs have to improve if they want to keep Van de Ven

There are already heavy rumours suggesting that Cristian Romero could be on his way to Atletico Madrid this summer.

There have also been some suggestions over recent months that Van de Ven is on Real Madrid’s radar, but those rumours have died down a bit over the last two months and it appears that the Dutchman is set to stay for the time being.

However, if Tottenham have another poor season in the Premier League, many big clubs around Europe will eye a move for Van de Ven, and it might become very difficult for the North Londoners to hang onto the 24-year-old over the subsequent transfer windows.

Tottenham order Dejan Kulusevski not to give injury interviews, still on crutches - Spurs Web
Description

Dejan Kulusevski turned up on crutches to greet his international teammates in Sweden’s training camp, and the Tottenham midfielder gave a curious response when asked about his rehabilitation.

Kulusevski was sidelined with an injury just before the Europa League final, which meant that the Swede could play no part in the showpiece event in Bilbao.

While he did show up to celebrate with his teammates after the final whistle, the 25-year-old could not take part in Tottenham Hotspur’s trophy parade in North London two days after the final.

The former Juventus man is now trying to recover in time for the start of the new season and it turns out that the player and the Lilywhites want to keep the full details of his rehabilitation a secret.

Kulusevski surprises teammates by turning up in Sweden camp

Sweden are set to play international friendlies against Hungary and Algeria over the next few days and it turns out that Kulusevski visited their training camp.

This information is being reported by Fotboll Skanalen, who claim that the versatile attacker turned up to the camp in crutches following surgery on his left patella.

Kulusevski’s arrival surprised his teammates, and the media tried to use the opportunity to speak to the Tottenham man about his rehabilitation.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, curiously he informed them that while he feels good, he is not allowed to give any interviews about his injury situation under orders from Spurs. The outlet claims that the Swedish press officer then intervened before the team doctors arrived to inspect his knee.

Dejan Kulusevski appears guaranteed to stay at Tottenham

While there could be several outgoings from Spurs this summer as the Lilywhites undertake a summer rebuild, Kulusevski is part of the core group that the club will be keen to keep.

Reports indicate that there is likely to be a managerial change at Tottenham this summer, which is why we cannot be certain about the futures of too many of the Spurs players at the moment.

However, no matter which manager comes through the door, one would think that they would find a role for Kulusevski, with the winger’s versatility, mentality and engine making him suitable for most systems.

Tottenham may be forced into early move for £50m Morten Hjulmand - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur may be about to turn their attention to a Scandinavian midfielder to address their issues in the number six role, and competition from a Premier League rival might force them into an early move.

The big question now is who Tottenham will turn to address their issues in defensive midfield after it emerged that Johnny Cardoso had rejected a move to Spurs in favour of a switch to Atletico Madrid.

Several midfielders have been mooted as potential targets for the Lilywhites over the last few weeks, but a new update suggests that the North London club may not turn their attention back to a player who they were heavily linked with a few months ago.

Back in February, it was claimed that Tottenham are keen on landing Sporting Lisbon’s Morten Hjulmand this summer, and it has now been revealed how much the Premier League side would have to pay for the 25-year-old.

Tottenham may be forced into an early move for Morten Hjulmand

TEAMtalk have now said that with Cardoso now potentially out of Tottenham’s reach and a deal for Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton appearing difficult, Spurs may turn their attention to the Sporting star.

The report describes Hjulmand as ‘one to watch’ for Ange Postecoglou’s men, explaining that the North Londoners admire his versatility and his work rate.

The hard-tackling midfielder is not expected to come cheap as the Portuguese giants hope to collect £50m from his sale, with Sporting hoping for the competition to drive up the price.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet asserts that Tottenham’s main competition for Hjulmand may come from Man United, and the Red Devils’ interest in the 25-year-old could force the Lilywhites to early action on the deal.

Tottenham miss out on England international midfielder

Spurs were also said to be big fans of England midfielder Angel Gomes, who is out of contract this summer, and their chances of signing him have been talked up all summer.

Over the last week, it was reported that Tottenham had grown in confidence about landing Angel Gomes on a free transfer after the midfielder’s contract at Lille ran out.

The update came from journalist Ben Jacobs, who revealed that Spurs had made a contract offer to Gomes and were even optimistic that he would accept it.

However, it has since emerged that Marseille have beaten Tottenham to the free transfer of Gomes, with another Spurs transfer target coming and going this summer.

Description

According to a new update from Germany, Tottenham Hotspur have re-entered the race to sign a young Danish midfield starlet, but they face competition from two other top clubs for the youngster.

Spurs have taken more interest in the Scandinavian football market since the arrival of Johan Lange as technical director, as demonstrated by their acquisition of Lucas Bergvall, who has been an inspired signing for the Lilywhites.

It emerged recently that Tottenham could have signed Copenhagen midfielder Victor Froholdt for just £5m last year, but they refused to pay the fee, and the player’s asking price has since gone up to £20m.

As a result of the price increase, it was reported that Spurs’ interest in Victor Froholdt had waned, with the club no longer seeing him as a priority.

Tottenham now firmly back in the race for Victor Froholdt

However, this information has now been contradicted by Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who claims that the North Londoners are now back in the race for the 19-year-old.

The versatile midfielder is coming off an exceptional season for Copenhagen and his performances have also attracted the attention of Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Just like Spurs, those two German clubs can offer Froholdt Champions League football, and the Premier League side could face even more competition for Dane, with Plettenberg revealing more clubs are monitoring the player closely.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham are also big fans of Froholdt’s Copenhagen teammate

Froholdt is not the only Copenhagen youngster that Spurs have their eye on, with his teammate, Roony Bardghji also in Tottenham’s sights.

Bardghji has refused to sign a new contract, and with his current deal running out in January of 2026, Spurs might have a golden chance to sign him for a cut-price fee this summer.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur were confident that they were set to win the race for Angel Gomes, but that is no longer the case after a major development regarding the England international’s future.

Those who regularly follow Spurs Web’s coverage would be aware Tottenham have been working on a deal to sign Angel Gomes on a free transfer after his contract with Lille ran out.

Last month, some outlets claimed that despite facing a lot of competition for the England international, Spurs are optimistic about their chances of landing Gomes.

Just a few days ago, it was revealed by journalist Ben Jacobs that Tottenham were growing increasingly optimistic that their contract offer to Gomes would be accepted.

Tottenham suffer monumental Angel Gomes blow

TBR Football have now revealed that Spurs were determined to win the race for the 24-year-old and were expecting to get the deal over the line, but the situation has now changed completely.

The England international now looks set to remain in Ligue 1 after agreeing a move to Marseille, where he will link up with former Tottenham man Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The report says that Gomes snubbed several Premier League clubs in favour of a switch to Marseille, including advances from Man United and West Ham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, it is explained that Spurs will be the most disappointed ones as they were confident that they had a deal wrapped up before the midfielder’s change of heart.

Fabrizio Romano has also backed up these reports, revealing that Angel Gomes has reached a verbal agreement with Marseille and will thus be remaining in France.

Is Spurs’ managerial uncertainty costing them?

Gomes is not the only major target the Lilywhites look set to miss out on as Chelsea have now beaten Spurs to the signing of Liam Delap.

It has emerged that Marc Guehi has turned down the chance to join Tottenham while reports have also claimed over recent days that Bryan Mbeumo prefers to join Man United over Spurs.
