Fabrizio Romano reveals one person is blocking Savinho’s move to Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

Fabrizio Romano has revealed what he has heard from his sources about why Manchester City suddenly appear to have changed their stance on selling Savinho to Tottenham Hotspur.

Most Spurs fans were dreaming of an Eberechi Eze-Mohammed Kudus-Savinho linkup at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.

For some, that appeared too good to be true, and it looks like their suspicions might be correct, as we are now hearing that Man City have decided against selling Savinho to Spurs.

It was revealed by talkSPORT on Tuesday that Pep Guardiola had decided that he does not want to lose Savinho, even though the Lilywhites are prepared to pay a club-record fee for the 21-year-old.

Man City official is blocking Savinho’s move to Tottenham

There are perhaps very few journalists in world football with connections to as many agents and clubs as Fabrizio Romano, and he has now revealed something very interesting about Savinho.

The Italian confirms that the former Girona man remains keen on being part of the Thomas Frank project at Spurs and claims that one senior figure at Man City is currently stopping the deal from going through.

Romano said on his YoutTube channel: “As of today, there is someone specific, very important, at Manchester City blocking the deal for Savinho to Tottenham. The player is keen on a move to Tottenham, but the player is not breaking his relationship with Manchester City.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“So the player is kind of positioned like, okay, if I can go to Tottenham, I’m happy, because Thomas Frank wants to make him one of the faces of the project, because he could play on a regular basis. So, Savinho would like to go to Tottenham.”

Should Spurs turn their attention to alternatives or keep their powder dry?

It has been suggested that Tottenham could turn to Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche if they miss out on Savinho.

However, it is clear that Spurs are prioritising signing players with Premier League experience this summer, and Frank has made it clear that he is happy with the squad he has.

If Tottenham cannot get Savinho this summer, one wonders if they may decide to keep their powder dry and go for the Brazilian again in January rather than spending on a winger who doesn’t necessarily elevate the squad.

Man City could still sell Savinho to Tottenham but only under one condition

Man City could still sell Savinho to Tottenham but only under one condition - Spurs Web
Description

The prospect of Savinho ending up at Tottenham Hotspur this summer is still far from over, with a new report shedding light on Manchester City’s stance on the winger and what it would take to get a deal done.

Much to the disappointment of Spurs fans, it has been reported over the last couple of days that Man City have decided against selling Savinho.

According to some sources, even though Tottenham are ready to pay a club-record fee for the winger, and the player wants to move to N17, Pep Guardiola has decided he cannot lose Savinho this summer.

However, a new report has now revealed that this change in stance might just be a negotiating tactic by City and that Spurs have not abandoned their pursuit of the 21-year-old just yet.

Man City open to selling Savinho to Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester Evening News have now rubbished suggestions that the former Girona man will not be sold this summer.

The outlet claims that every player in the City squad is for sale at the right fee, and Savinho is no exception to that.

The report asserts that if the right kind of offer arrives from Tottenham and if the winger wants to make the move, the deal will happen.

MORE SPURS STORIES

They confirm that Spurs have indeed approached the Etihad hierarchy over a deal for Savinho, and they continue to remain interested in the player.

However, it is pointed out that City decision-makers still have a sour taste in their mouth about the Cole Palmer deal, and will thus be insistent on getting top dollar for Savinho to minimise any damage should the attacker explode at Spurs.

Savinho deal will not be done before Saturday

MEN also say that the fact that Tottenham Hotspur travel to the Etihad this Saturday is another sticking point in the deal, which cannot happen before the game.

The last thing Guardiola’s men want is for the winger to shrug off his ‘mystery injury’ and score against them this weekend.

Even though Savinho wants the move to Tottenham, he has not burned his bridges at City, and could easily be reintegrated back into the squad.

As a result, the Manchester club have all the leverage in the negotiations, and it would take an ‘astronomical’ offer from Spurs to prise the Brazil international away.

Fabrizio Romano reveals the latest update on Eberechi Eze to Tottenham deal - Spurs Web
Description

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that despite reports to the contrary over the last 24 hours, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace have not yet reached a full agreement on Eberechi Eze.

It was revealed by Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe that Spurs and Palace have reached a verbal agreement on a fee for Eze.

This information was subsequently backed up by The Sun, who claimed that Tottenham had agreed a deal of just over £60m for Eze, with the Lilywhites agreeing to pay half of that fee upfront.

However, it has now been claimed that there are still a few minor points of difference between the two London sides.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Eberechi Eze to Tottenham is close but not done

Fabrizio Romano has revealed on his YouTube channel that, according to his sources, there is still no total agreement between Spurs and Palace over Eze.

He says that an agreement is close, with the two clubs continuing talks. He explains that there are some minor details about the structure of the deal which have to be ironed out.

However, the Italian journalist adds that in his opinion, the deal will get done and the England international will be a Tottenham Hotspur player sooner rather than later.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Crystal Palace want to first sign an Eze replacement

In the video, Romano also adds that another reason the deal is getting held up is due to Palace wanting to sign a replacement for the 27-year-old, which they are currently working on.

Some sources have suggested over recent days that Palace will use Tottenham’s upfront payment for Eberechi Eze to pursue Bilal El Khannouss.

It thus appears that the Lilywhites might have to wait for the Eagles to get a deal for the Moroccan over the line before they can bring Eze through the door.

Why Eberechi Eze is the perfect fit for Thomas Frank’s Tottenham Hotspur

Why Eberechi Eze is the perfect fit for Thomas Frank’s Tottenham Hotspur - Spurs Web
Description

Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze has been heavily linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in recent days, as the two clubs continue to come closer to an agreement. But would Eze be a good fit for the new Thomas Frank era at Spurs?

According to recent reports, Thomas Frank and Tottenham Hotspur look set to agree to a move that would bring Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze to North London, with Frank finding his new creative midfielder after James Maddison suffered an ACL injury during the pre-season friendly against Newcastle United in South Korea.

Where Eze fits in Thomas Frank’s tactical Tottenham setup

Looking at Tottenham’s setup from their 3-0 victory over Burnley at the weekend, there are multiple potential areas that Eberechi Eze could fit into Thomas Frank’s tactical setup, with a particular focus on how the former Brentford manager lines up in possession.

During the opening minutes of Spurs’ opening weekend game, Frank set up his side to push high up the pitch when in possession, lining up in an almost 4-2-4-like structure.

However, the player to focus on in this scenario is Lucas Bergvall, looking at the sequences that led to both of Richarlison’s goals during Saturday’s games, Frank instructed the Swedish midfielder to push high up the pitch and into the box, acting as something akin to a second striker.

Eze, similar to Bergvall on Saturday, during his time at Crystal Palace under Oliver Glasner, also operated in this Second Striker role, crashing into the box of the shoulder of Jean Phillipe Mateta, which allowed him to score and set up multiple goals.

MORE SPURS STORIES

While Bergvall undoubtedly had a phenomenal game against Scott Parker’s side, looking at his impact on the box, it appeared to be minimal, having only had a single touch in the opposition’s penalty area, suggesting that Eze could be more effective in this role with his experience at Palace.

Why Eberechi Eze would not fit as a deep midfielder at Tottenham

Another option for Eze, potentially, could be to operate in a more traditional midfield role, slotting in for either Pape Sarr or Archie Gray; however, looking at how Frank set his team up, both at the weekend and against PSG, the Palace star would not be a suitable fit for this role.

Following the heartbreaking UEFA Super Cup defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, the Tottenham Hotspur manager also shared a quote that gives some insight into his style of play, claiming that high pressing is one of the vital aspects of his game.

“High pressure is a non-negotiable. We went man for man in some aspects.” The Spurs manager shared the following about his side’s defeat to PSG (BBC). This idea was made abundantly clear during Tottenham’s game at the weekend, as Spurs turned the ball over high up the pitch, leading to the opener.

In comparison to both Sarr and Gray, Eze offers significantly less when it comes to pressing the ball and turning it over high up the pitch, ranking below the 50th percentile for both Interceptions and Tackles Won; however, there is one other statistic that could suggest something.

Looking at it statistically, the Spurs target ranks in the upper 90th percentile when it comes to Loose Balls recovered. What this means is that Eberechi Eze is always the first player on the ball when it is turned over, which means that he would be the perfect player to partner up with Sarr in Tottenham’s pressing midfield.

Why Eze is the perfect partner for Mohammed Kudus

Finally, the last position that Eze could fit into Thomas Frank’s system is if he were to come into the side to replace Brennan Johnson, playing alongside Tottenham’s other Summer Signing in Mohammed Kudus, on the flanks, and there are many reasons to believe that this could be the ideal fit for him.

Analysing Tottenham’s attacking patterns from Saturday, Spurs’ attacks were built on pushing their fullbacks high up the pitch, allowing the likes of Kudus to get into one vs one situations where they naturally thrive, which led to both of Richarlison’s goals.

Statistically, similar to Kudus, when it comes to taking on his man, Eze is almost impossible to take down. Pairing him up with the Ghanaian superstar and having two players who are more than capable of taking on their man could potentially be a dangerous partnership, and the similarities don’t stop there, according to Frank.

“I think preferably, he’s probably Right Wing and 10, he can play both positions, but I like flexible players,” Frank explained in a press conference following the Spurs’ victory, and while he is describing the first signing of the Summer, that description also perfectly encapsulates who Eze is as a player.

Throughout his career, the Palace superstar has operated across almost every position possible, as a Number. 10, a Number. 8, as a left-winger and even as a Striker

While they are not the same type of player, bringing Eze to North London would be similar to having a second Kudus at the club, and therefore, it would not come as a surprise if the Tottenham manager decides it is fit to line them up in the same position.

Djed Spence posts brutal dig at Mohammed Kudus from Tottenham training challenge - Spurs Web
Description

Djed Spence has taken to Instagram to share how he challenged Tottenham new boy Mohammed Kudus at Hotspur Way and there was only ever going to be one winner.

Mohammed Kudus has not always been a popular figure around those at Tottenham Hotspur. He not only played for West Ham, but was sent off during his last appearance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The winger struck Micky van de Ven and Pape Matar Sarr in the face, setting up an awkward reunion when he made his move to Spurs.

However, Kudus appears to have made up with his new teammates and he is off to a flying start in Tottenham colours. His two assists last Saturday were key to the 3-0 routing of Burnley, a continuation of his fine performances in pre-season.

Spurs supporters will be excited to see how the right wing partnership of Kudus and Pedro Porro develops, but another player who could partner with Kudus is Djed Spence.

Djed Spence claims victory over Mohammed Kudus in Tottenham training challenge

Spence and Kudus already appear to have built a strong friendship and the pair recently competed in a one v one challenge at Hotspur Way.

Spence told Kudus: “If you get past me once, I buy you dinner.”

However, according to Spence’s Instagram story, Kudus attempted to beat the defender 10 times and failed to come out on top on every occasion.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It is not the first time Spence has shown confidence in his defending. Last season, Spence backed himself to silence Mohamed Salah in the Carabao Cup.

It seems Kudus himself has now verified that the story is true, replying to Spence’s Instagram story with the message: “My feet will do the talking soon.”

Spence has a big season ahead of him at Spurs

Djed Spence recently committed his long-term future to Tottenham and he has stated his aims for the future. Spence has said he wants to reach new levels, adding that he managed a breakthrough last season.

However, at the end of the previous campaign, Spence still found himself behind Destiny Udogie, while there seems to be no chance that Porro will be dropped.

Therefore, Spence must play his best football on a weekly basis and take advantage of Udogie’s injury, if he is to cement his place in the Tottenham first-team.

How Tottenham and Crystal Palace are feeling about Eberechi Eze deal today - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have long been at the negotiating table for Eberechi Eze and there is growing hope a deal will be agreed.

Tottenham Hotspur have put their supporters through all the emotions this summer when it comes to transfer business. Names such as Morgan Gibbs-White, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa were repeatedly mentioned, but Spurs failed to complete deals for any of them.

There has been some success, most notably doing a rare transaction with West Ham to sign Mohammed Kudus. He could soon be joined by Eberechi Eze, the Crystal Palace star who has been linked with Tottenham for so long.

It was reported that Tottenham reached a verbal agreement to sign Eze, but this rumour was later squashed. Spurs had no agreement to sign Eze and talks remained ongoing. This would appear to be the case, as there do not appear to be any signs of an imminent move taking place.

Tottenham are confident in finalising Eberechi Eze transfer

Florian Plettenberg has delivered the latest news on Eze and it is one of the biggest indications yet that a deal will be agreed.

However, the only timescale the journalist has given is that the move should take place before deadline day.

He said: “Advanced talks now ongoing between Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace regarding Eberechi Eze.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“All parties involved are optimistic about completing the deal before Deadline Day. Eze is 100% committed to joining Spurs and is waiting for the green light to undergo his medical.

“The deal could be worth up to €70 million. Despite rumors, FC Bayern was never seriously involved as always reported.”

Spurs seem willing to sacrifice time if it means saving money

Tottenham have shown plenty of patience during the Eze negotiations and yet it seems the fee they are being required to pay is little more than their initial offer.

Spurs looked to pay £55m plus £5m in add-ons for Eze, but Palace were unwilling to accept those terms. However, the latest update reveals the deal could be worth €70m, which is the equivalent of £60.4m.

Crystal Palace’s asking price could have been paid outright, but Tottenham have played the long game and sought to get the best possible deal.

Whether this is the right or wrong decision is subjective, but hopefully all this finally results in Eze donning the famous lilywhite.

Pedro Porro stat shows just how important he is to Tottenham under Thomas Frank - Spurs Web
Description

Pedro Porro has hit the ground running for Tottenham Hotspur this season and he already leads the way in one Premier League statistical category.

Tottenham Hotspur got off to a winning start in the Premier League in a match that has already been widely reflected on. Richarlison earned his plaudits after twice finding the back of the net, while Mohammed Kudus picked up two assists in yet another positive display.

As well as these, Pape Matar Sarr was selected in the WhoScored team of the week. He also registered an assist, continuing his fine form which he began during pre-season.

There remains an unsung hero who put in a great performance against Burnley, but has not been given the same recognition. Pedro Porro did not have any goal contributions last Saturday, but he put on a great display and one statistic shows he may be about to take his game to the next level.

Pedro Porro tops Premier League statistic after Tottenham victory

According to Sky Sports (18/08, 22:40), Porro recorded the highest number of passes into the opposition box over the opening weekend of the Premier League. He placed 14 passes into Burnley’s penalty area during the match.

This not only shows the Spain international is ahead of the game, but that he has improved from last season, when he averaged around eight passes into the box per game.

Porro was effective across all areas of the pitch. He recorded three key passes, two accurate crosses, three ball recoveries and four successful duels, whilst being part of a defensive line which kept a clean sheet. His 94 touches during the game show just how involved he is when Spurs are in action.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Porro has had a remarkable turnaround at Spurs

When people talk about a player who drastically changed his fortunes at Tottenham, Djed Spence is usually the one they bring up. His journey from a Spurs outcast to the first-team is an impressive one, but it is easy to forget that Porro was not always as popular as he is now.

The 25-year-old was called out last season for constantly leaving space behind him on the right wing for opposition attackers to run into. His carelessness on the ball was also a point of criticism, as he would often be dispossessed.

The latter point may still be an issue, considering Pedro Porro lost the ball 23 times against Burnley, but Tottenham supporters will appreciate just how important he is to Thomas Frank.

His attacking threat is second to none for a right-back in the Premier League and his defending has visibly improved in the past few months. He will be key to any success Tottenham experience.

Supercomputer changes mind on Tottenham prediction after just one Premier League game

Supercomputer changes mind on Tottenham prediction after just one Premier League game - Spurs Web
Description

The Opta Supercomputer, which has predicted how the Premier League table will finish, delivered a damning verdict on Tottenham Hotspur before the season began, but this has changed after their decisive victory over Burnley.

The Premier League became a living nightmare for Tottenham Hotspur last season. Spurs not only finished 17th, but suffered a shocking 22 defeats, which is double the number of matches Ange Postecoglou’s side won.

With this in mind, the Opta Supercomputer predicted Spurs to finish 14th, before the season got underway. Tottenham were tipped to record only 47.92 points, which is only around 10 more than last season.

Postecoglou began to prioritise the Europa League as Tottenham’s hopes for any success in the league dwindled. However, his success in Europe did not save him from facing the sack, so it is likely Frank will give the English top flight his full attention.

Opta Supercomputer places Tottenham higher after Burnley victory

Despite an initial pessimistic prediction, the Supercomputer has already placed Tottenham’s predicted finish three places higher, after Saturday’s 3-0 win saw them end the weekend in third.

The Supercomputer did expect Spurs to defeat Burnley and predicted that Thomas Frank and his team would sit in fourth after their opening fixture. However, the picture painted by the Supercomputer is still a bleak one, as Spurs are deemed more likely to be relegated than to qualify for the Champions League.

Their points tally has been raised to 50.08, but this would still not be enough for a top-half finish, with Bournemouth narrowly in front. The Cherries got off to a losing start, but in fairness, Liverpool away is one of the most difficult league fixtures.

MORE SPURS STORIES

What can Daniel Levy do to help Spurs finish higher in the Premier League?

Tottenham have completed five summer signings, including the Joao Paulinha loan move. However, most would agree that if no more business was to take place, it would be an underwhelming transfer window.

Daniel Levy, aided by Fabio Paratici, has the chance to change this for the better. Currently, Tottenham are likely to sign Eberechi Eze and bringing him to the club could have a direct impact on their overall finish, especially with the injuries suffered in attacking midfield.

However, Manchester City have closed the door on Savinho joining Tottenham. This came as disappointing news, but there is still time to find a viable alternative. Whatever the case, the Spurs board must do everything in their power to strengthen the Tottenham first-team squad and provide Frank with the tools he needs to have a strong league campaign.

Jamie Carragher predicts where Tottenham will finish in Premier League table

Jamie Carragher predicts where Tottenham will finish in Premier League table - Spurs Web
Description

Jamie Carragher has had his say on where he expects Tottenham Hotspur to finish in the Premier League table and if he is right, Spurs supporters could be disappointed.

Tottenham Hotspur are off to a winning start in the Premier League, but as the saying goes, it is a marathon, not a sprint. This proved true last season, as while Ange Postecoglou’s team had a decent first few months, they recorded the club’s worst-ever finish in the division.

However, Spurs finished fifth the season before. With England’s current UEFA coefficient ranking, this position now qualifies teams for the Champions League. The fact that this was not the case the season before last was actually key to Tottenham being placed in the Europa League, and the rest is history.

Many neutrals may choose to base their prediction on where Tottenham finished last season. However, it was a campaign with an unprecedented number of injuries and with the Eberechi Eze transfer rumours sounding positive, the Tottenham first-team squad will have been improved. Therefore, Spurs should finish much higher in the Premier League table.

Jamie Carragher predicts a top-six finish for Tottenham

Jamie Carragher has made his Premier League table prediction on Sky Sports and he believes Spurs will perform far better than last season. His prediction for the top five is identical to last season’s table, except for his decision to swap Manchester City and Arsenal around, putting Pep Guardiola’s men in second.

Nevertheless, there is a change in sixth place. Aston Villa pipped Nottingham Forest to the position last time out, but Carragher believes Tottenham will claim the position, which would be 11 places better than their previous result.

While this is a significant improvement, it would mean Spurs would have to settle for the Europa League. The only way to avoid this fate would be to win the Champions League and while Thomas Frank almost pulled off a masterclass against PSG, this would be a huge ask in any season, let alone his first.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Of course, there could be some who would be excited at the prospect of Spurs claiming a fourth European trophy. Supporters of clubs like Sevilla can certainly vouch that repeatedly winning the same trophy never gets old.

Where should Spurs aim to finish in the Premier League?

While Tottenham are yet to experience any new injuries since the start of the new season, players such as Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison remain out with long-term issues. Also, their transfer business so far has not been overly convincing. Mohammed Kudus looks the part, but there is little evidence that any other new signings will be regular starters.

Spurs have not sold many players, but they have lost Heung-min Son. The former captain may have been past his prime, but he was still tied for most Premier League goal contributions at the club last season.

On the other hand, Tottenham are under new management and Frank looks like he knows what he is doing. He has already showcased his ability to adapt his tactics depending on the opposition and Spurs look a more balanced side. If his players are able to deliver, there is no reason for him not to aim for a top-five finish.

Mikey Moore delivers bold statement of intent for his Tottenham Hotspur future

Mikey Moore delivers bold statement of intent for his Tottenham Hotspur future - Spurs Web
Description

Mikey Moore has made known his extraordinary objectives for his Tottenham career and if there is one thing he does not lack, it is confidence.

Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters were disappointed to see Mikey Moore sent out on loan. The 18-year-old only made 10 Premier League appearances last season, so there was anticipation about how he could perform if he were to get more minutes under his belt.

It was thought that Borussia Dortmund were interested in Moore before he made the move to Scotland. A permanent transfer would not have gone down well at Tottenham, but a loan to a team as good as Dortmund would have been a great learning experience for the young talent.

As things went, he signed on loan for Rangers. The Scottish Premiership may provide Moore with as high a level of opposition as the Bundesliga would have, but he still has the chance to play in the Champions League.

The Glasgow outfit are just one tie away from qualifying for Europe’s biggest competition, but it will not be easy, as they are up against Club Brugge.

Mikey Moore states his ambitious career target at Tottenham

Domestically, Moore has already got off to a good start. He played just under 70 minutes of Rangers’ League Cup tie against Alloa Athletic on Saturday and registered an assist in the process.

Alloa are only a third-tier club, but Moore will have plenty of time to prove his worth, including against Celtic at the end of the month.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The winger believes this is just his starting point, as he will attempt to keep improving throughout his career. He made a bombshell statement on Sky Sports, which shows the level he is reaching for.

Moore said: “I want to be one of the best players in the world, hopefully.”

He added: “I want to go out and play in the biggest competitions. It’s massive for me. I’ve signed a new contract at Spurs, but at the minute I’m focused on playing here [Rangers], so I’m just buzzing to go and play some massive games for this football club.”

What will the future hold for Mikey Moore?

The likes of Celtic and Rangers prefer to make their loan signings permanent, but it is highly unlikely Moore will stay in Scotland permanently.

He will gain valuable experience playing for a team that held Spurs to a draw in the Europa League last season, but this will be to prepare him for his return to Tottenham.

Currently, Spurs lack options on the left wing and Moore might actually have benefitted from remaining at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, he will also benefit from being able to play on a weekly basis and this could be a key stepping stone if he is to reach his ultimate goal and join football’s elite players.
