Description

According to an update from Spain, Tottenham Hotspur are now looking to make a real statement by advancing their interest in a Real Madrid star, and they are moving ahead of their Premier League rivals in the transfer race.

Spurs fans are understandably fuming at the Gibbs-White deal falling through after the midfielder put pen to paper on a new contract at Nottingham Forest.

Their frustration is understandable as the two-week delay in the England international’s move could mean that Tottenham may also miss out on Xavi Simons, who is reportedly on the verge of joining Chelsea.

It emerged last week that Tottenham had explored a move for Real Madrid star Rodrygo, who is also on the radars of Liverpool and Arsenal. According to a new update, Thomas Frank’s men are now advancing on the Brazilian.

Tottenham leapfrogging Liverpool and Arsenal in the race for Rodrygo

According to a report in AS, Real Madrid are willing to let Rodrygo leave this summer, but they are demanding €100m (£86.8m) for the winger.

This high asking price has seen Liverpool’s interest in the winger cool, while Arsenal’s have completely ‘frozen’ their move for the player. Additionally, Bayern Munich do not have the Los Blancos star as their plan A.

This has opened the door for Tottenham Hotspur, who have ‘burst in’ and are trying to secure the services of the Brazilian international.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Lilywhites are hoping to negotiate a deal down to around €90m (£78.1) for Rodrygo, with the player’s situation at Madrid described as being ‘very delicate’.

What is Rodrygo’s stance on his future?

AS say that the 24-year-old has continued to maintain that he does not want to leave the Spanish capital and is willing to fight for his place at Madrid.

However, his chances of game time under Xabi Alonso appear low, and the new Madrid boss is expected to have a conversation with the winger soon before a final decision is made on his future.

The publication adds that the Rodrygo saga could become one of the best ‘soap operas’ of the summer transfer window, with the player expected to want regular game time ahead of a World Cup year.

Description

After Morgan Gibbs-White snubbed Tottenham Hotspur and committed to a new deal with Nottingham Forest, details are starting to emerge about the Lilywhites’ failed approach. Now, a new update suggests that Spurs might not have even activated Gibbs-White’s release clause.

News broke on Saturday that Gibbs-White decided to put pen to paper on a new contract at Nottingham Forest, with the development coming as a huge blow to the Lilywhites.

Just hours before the development, it was being reported by several sources that Gibbs-White remained keen to complete a move to Tottenham after the North Londoners met the player’s £60m release clause two and a half weeks ago.

However, the Forest star had a change of heart, and Gibbs-White has admitted that he is excited to spearhead the project at the City Ground.

Did Tottenham actually activate Morgan Gibbs-White’s clause?

The Telegraph have now said that not only were Forest upset about the breach of confidentiality by Spurs, but there are doubts about whether the Lilywhites actually paid the player’s clause.

It is now suggested that Tottenham Hotspur may not even have matched the exact terms in the clause.

The outlet says that the clause could have also contained several conditions apart from the fee, which the offer from Thomas Frank’s men may not have satisfied.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Forest were far from pleased with Spurs’ tactics and immediately sent a notice of legal action to Daniel Levy, while they also considered officially complaining to the Premier League.

Gibbs-White receives bumper deal as Evangelos Marinakis trumps Daniel Levy

The Telegraph confirm that Gibbs-White’s three-year deal does not contain a release clause and sees the 25-year-old become the highest earner in Forest’s history.

It is revealed that Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis views this as a major triumph over Tottenham and Levy, with the Greek billionaire feeling that the nature of the Spurs chairman’s approach was a slur against his club.

Description

Journalist Greame Bailey has now shed light on what the feeling at Tottenham Hotspur is after the club received a shock snub from Morgan Gibbs-White.

Gibbs-White signed a new contract at the City Ground on Saturday, and the news came as a shock to Tottenham and many across the footballing media landscape.

This was because the expectation at Spurs was that they would get Gibbs-White, while it was also widely reported that the Forest midfielder was determined to complete a move to N17.

However, he had a change of heart, and Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis reportedly convinced Gibbs-White about the club’s ambition after face-to-face talks with the 25-year-old.

Tottenham are ready to move on from Morgan Gibbs-White

The Forest owner has undoubtedly had the last laugh, and Marinakis has taken a potshot at Tottenham for the way they conducted themselves.

Greame Bailey has now explained that the Greek billionaire was not at all pleased with Spurs’ tactics and remained resolute on his stance right from the off.

The journalist suggested that Tottenham do not plan to dwell on this snub and are ready to move on very quickly.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Bailey told TBR Football: “I am told that whilst Evangelos Marinakis was angry with Tottenham Hotspur, he was quick to sit down with Morgan Gibbs-White.

“He was very clear about what he wanted. Over the past two weeks, he has been offering him a deal that has now convinced him to stay.

“Tottenham were confident, and they hoped that Gibbs-White would still come. It is a blow to Spurs’ plans, but they will move on very quickly.”

Who will Spurs turn to next in the summer transfer window?

Spurs certainly cannot afford to feel sorry for themselves as they have plenty of work to do this summer, with the Tottenham squad requiring multiple reinforcements.

Some outlets have suggested over the last few days that Tottenham may now turn to Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott, who is expected to leave Anfield this summer.

Description

Tottenham supporters have been left completely baffled by new reports linking one important first-team player with a loan exit.

So far, Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer window has been anything but satisfactory, as the Lilywhites are yet to add any more new faces aside from Mohammed Kudus and Kota Takai.

Tottenham’s window got a lot worse when reports emerged that Spurs-bound Morgan Gibbs-White had decided to extend his stay at Forest, signing a contract extension that would keep him at the City Ground until 2028.

Now, fresh reports claim that Lille are negotiating with Tottenham to sign second-choice goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky in what is expected to be a loan deal.

Tottenham fans react to Antonin Kinsky’s potential loan move

Kinsky only joined Tottenham last season during the winter window and is yet to spend a full year in N17, which makes these reports all the more surprising given how little time he has had to settle or prove himself.

Spurs fans who have caught wind of the story have not held back with their reactions, with many left stunned by the idea that Kinsky could already be heading out on loan.

One fan said: “This is what we are doing instead of signing players”, while another added: “The club would be in shambles if we loaned Kinsky and kept Austin as our main backup.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

A third questioned: “Literally, what are we doing? Who is the backup going to be?”

A fourth supporter took aim at Johan Lange: “We are moving clueless this summer. I could do a better job than Lange.”

Another fan was open to the move but had one caveat: “Absolutely fine if we are signing a better keeper. I like Vicario, but he gets nowhere near any top-six team. We need a top keeper with Vic as no.2.”

A final supporter commented: “What the actual hell is going on. Great move for experience but he could be our number one – why did we get rid of Keeley?”

Brandon Austin is far from a convincing backup option

Of course, Tottenham fans have reason to be left stunned by the latest reports, as selling Kinsky is sure to leave Spurs short at the back.

Brandon Austin will have to become the second-choice option, and based on his display in the pre-season clash against Wycombe, where he was responsible for the first goal, the Spurs academy graduate does not inspire confidence.

Tottenham’s pre-season tour squad highlights one alarming problem position

Tottenham’s pre-season tour squad highlights one alarming problem position - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season tour squad has been confirmed, and while there is plenty to be encouraged about, one key weakness stands out like a sore thumb – and it could come back to haunt the club before the new season is properly underway.

Just yesterday, Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season squad for the tour of Asia was revealed, as Spurs gear up to play Arsenal and Newcastle United in the Middle East before travelling to the Allianz Arena for a clash against Bayern Munich on August 7.

Thomas Frank’s squad has a good mix of guaranteed first-team players and youngsters as Tottenham continue their preparations for the 2025/26 season.

The likes of Heung-min Son, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Rodrigo Bentancur and Dominic Solanke all made the trip to Asia, while five other youngsters were included to complete a well-rounded team.

However, while certain areas of this squad appear to have good enough depth, one significant position looks rather weak and should raise an alarm ahead of the new campaign.

Tottenham lack proper left-back depth in pre-season tour squad

Put simply, Tottenham are short in the full-back position, particularly at left-back, and the pre-season squad has highlighted this gaping hole.

At the moment, Spurs are set to travel to Asia with Ben Davies as the club’s recognised left-back following an injury to Destiny Udogie, which has seen him miss out on the tour of Asia.

MORE SPURS STORIES

For Tottenham, a club that finished 17th, to head into the season with 33-year-old Davies as a back-up option for Udogie is almost laughable and screams a lack of proper squad planning.

Of course, some could argue that Djed Spence could be shifted to the left, Archie Gray could cover at right-back, and if need be, Micky van de Ven could fill in as a left-back.

While these are creative solutions, there is still a significant gaping hole in the full-back position. First off, Tottenham are set to compete in four major competitions, including the UEFA Champions League.

The quality in the Champions League is levels above that of the Europa League, and Tottenham would not be handed the luxury of rotating their entire eleven like they did in the League phase of the Europa League.

Frank would have to go full strength in the League phase of the Champions League if he is to give his side a chance of pulling through.

That could see him field a back four of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Pedro Porro and most likely Destiny Udogie. Should the Italian be injured, then Spence could fill in.

However, it gets tricky when there are extra injuries on the side, and then those filling in are not of the highest level, which would lead to a significant drop in quality.

Spurs need direct Destiny Udogie back-up in the transfer market

Udogie’s injury track record does not inspire confidence, as the Italian may not be a player who is going to be constantly available over a hectic schedule.

He will miss games, and should that happen, Tottenham cannot rely on Davies, who is not getting any younger, especially when they want to compete on all fronts.

There is a need for another full-back to join the ranks at Tottenham. An injury crisis could hit just like last season, and Spurs could find themselves in a sticky position.

Makeshift options are great and would be helpful. However, Tottenham’s first option when an injury strikes should not be to fall on a makeshift player.

There should be a direct replacement for Udogie, one who is of good enough quality to maintain the standards at left-back and would suit Frank’s tactical setup, which, as we have seen in the recent pre-season clashes, requires Udogie to almost hug the touchline and also cover in defence. Davies does not have the quality or athleticism to do that.

Tottenham player identified by Lille as the solution to their big transfer problem

Tottenham player identified by Lille as the solution to their big transfer problem - Spurs Web
Description

Lille are at risk of losing one of their key men ahead of the new season, and they have identified a Tottenham player as their number one replacement.

While all signs at Tottenham Hotspur are that Guglielmo Vicario is set to continue as the club’s number one, we have already seen plenty of change in the goalkeeping department at the club this summer.

Fraser Forster left the club after his contract ran out, while academy goalkeeper Josh Keeley has completed a permanent move to Luton Town, with the move catching many Spurs fans by surprise.

It has now emerged that another goalkeeper may be on his way out of North London after a French club set their sights on him.

Lille are keen on signing Antonin Kinsky from Tottenham

According to a report in L’Equipe, Lille are now at the risk of losing their number one, Lucas Chevalier, who has expressed a desire to move to Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG have made an opening offer of €40m (£34.7m) for the 23-year-old, and while that is expected to be turned down by Lille, they are now in very real danger of losing the French goalkeeper to the Parisians, who are expected to return with an improved offer.

As a result, Les Dogues have started searching for a replacement for Chevalier, and they have identified Antonin Kinsky as their top target.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Czech goalkeeper only arrived at Spurs in the January window from Slavia Prague and made 10 appearances for the Lilywhites last term, but Bruno Genesio’s men seemingly believe they can prise him away from the Premier League side.

Would Spurs be open to offloading Kinsky?

It appears unlikely that Spurs would let Kinsky leave this summer without signing a replacement, and the 22-year-old’s ability on the ball makes him a good fit for Frank’s system.

Frank’s teams like to draw the opposition in from goalkicks, and the goalkeeper is often tasked with beating the first line of press with a ball over the top to the full-back or the midfielder.

Description

Tottenham fans have now questioned the truth behind the Morgan Gibbs-White transfer saga, with many left in disbelief following the latest reports.

Tottenham Hotspur thought they had their man. A £60million release clause, a medical reportedly booked within 24 hours – Morgan Gibbs-White looked nailed on for a move to north London.

Yet here we are, with the 25-year-old signing a new contract that ties him to Nottingham Forest until 2028. The new deal reportedly includes no release clause and no gentleman’s agreement for a future move, essentially bringing Spurs’ pursuit of the midfielder to a halt.

Gibbs-White is set to become Forest’s highest-paid player ever. Owner Evangelos Marinakis made it clear he was not impressed with Tottenham’s approach, stating publicly: “As long as I am in charge of all of these actions, approaches should take place, I repeat, in an appropriate manner” – a thinly-veiled dig aimed at Daniel Levy and the club.

Tottenham fans question the truth behind Morgan Gibbs-White transfer saga

Tottenham must now move on from the entire saga. However, further reports have emerged that appear to explain why Spurs failed to land Morgan Gibbs-White this summer.

It is being claimed that the midfielder’s release clause was complex and that Tottenham failed to meet the various conditions required to trigger it. The suggestion is that the club did not fully satisfy the terms needed for the clause to be activated.

These revelations have not gone down well with Tottenham fans, who have taken to social media in disbelief.

MORE SPURS STORIES

One fan said: “So why the fuss. B***ocks. Marinakis was buying for time. My assumption is that Marinakis had MGW and his agent by the b***s and gave them a re-sign or be sued ultimatum. MGW looking dejected in his interview, very different from his usual, always happy demeanour.”

Another wrote: “If that were the case, Forest would have rejected outright and would not have gone through the process of threatening legal action and raising a complaint with the Premier League. They would not have also forced MGW to sign a new one-year deal that presumably scraps the release clause.”

A third fan commented: “Refuse to believe any of that, why book a medical if he never wanted to leave? None of this is right.”

Another Tottenham supporter added on the Morgan Gibbs-White drama: “If this were true, it would have come out immediately, not 2 weeks later after he signed a new deal.”

The disbelief continued, with one fan saying: “So why the threat of legal action. Just say you’ve not met all the criteria. Such b***ocks”

Meanwhile, a final fan commented: “Don’t believe this for a second. This will be the narrative being pushed from the Forest end to make it seem like they blocked it legitimately”

Spurs must now refocus after Gibbs-White disappointment

It indeed feels like a massive blow to Spurs, given how it all unfolded over the last two weeks. However, while they are left without Morgan Gibbs-White, Tottenham still do have £60 million to spend on a midfielder, and that should remain the focus of the club.

Clubs do miss out on targets, but every top side has several alternatives on its list. Spurs must now return to the drawing board and continue strengthening the squad, which is still in need of significant bolstering.

Five Tottenham youngsters who could be loaned out despite making the Asia tour

Five Tottenham youngsters who could be loaned out despite making the Asia tour - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the squad for their pre-season tour of Asia, and it features a few notable omissions as well as surprise inclusions that may hint at what is to come in the weeks ahead.

Dejan Kulusevski and Radu Dragusin, who are both recovering from long-term injuries, have not been named in Thomas Frank’s squad for the Asia tour and will continue their rehabilitation at Hotspur Way.

Destiny Udogie also misses out following his late withdrawal from the recent pre-season fixture at Luton Town, which raises slight concern ahead of the new campaign.

Kota Takai, Bryan Gil and Manor Solomon are likewise staying back for treatment. Meanwhile, several of Tottenham’s young talents, including Mikey Moore, Alfie Devine and Dane Scarlett, will also remain in north London, with the trio potentially eyeing loan moves before the start of the season.

Interestingly, Frank has still opted to take a mix of senior players and promising youth, allowing certain youngsters to impress while also keeping options open in the transfer market.

George Abbott, Jamie Donley and Luka Vuskovic among youngsters included in Spurs tour squad

Thomas Frank has included five youngsters in his travelling squad as Spurs jet off for their pre-season tour, with the Dane clearly open to blending experience with youth.

George Abbott, Jamie Donley, Will Lankshear, Yang Min-Hyeok and Luka Vuskovic have all been named in the squad and will link up with the rest of the group ahead of the games in Asia.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Luka Vuskovic has already caught the eye since returning to Tottenham after spending two seasons away following his signing in 2023, while George Abbott featured in Tottenham’s clash with Wycombe in the double-header friendly on Saturday.

Jamie Donley has also continued his rise, building on an impressive loan spell at Leyton Orient last season, and was involved against Reading and Luton Town this summer in his preferred no.10 role.

Will Lankshear has made a couple of cameo appearances from the bench; meanwhile, Yang Min-Hyeok is still waiting to make his first outing this pre-season.

Tottenham youth handed tour chance but loan moves could still be on the cards

While this is an important opportunity for these young players to showcase their talents in front of Frank and the coaching staff, it does not necessarily mean they will remain in the squad when the Premier League season kicks off.

Thomas Frank is expected to assess the likes of Luka Vuskovic and Jamie Donley closely before deciding their next steps, as they are seen as the youngsters who have the best shot at staying within the first-team setup.

A larger squad is always helpful for pre-season tours, but when Spurs return to London, there is still every possibility that a couple of these youngsters could be sent out on loan later in the window, especially with the club keen to balance squad depth and developmental pathways.

Tottenham Hotspur have now tied down one of their promising young talent to a new long-term contract after an impressive loan spell last term.

Tottenham Hotspur have a few exciting prospects coming through the ranks, and this summer, fans have had the opportunity to see some of these players play during pre-season.

Jamie Donley, Alfie Devine, Mikey Moore and George Abbott are some of the youngsters who have all been handed gametime in Tottenham’s pre-season clashes in England.

Several of these young prospects were also included in Thomas Frank’s squad to tour Asia, while others were left behind to find loan moves this summer, including Mikey Moore.

George Abbott signs new Tottenham contract after pre-season tour

George Abbott, who spent a season out on loan at Notts County, is one of five young Tottenham talents to have been included in the pre-season tour of Asia.

The youngster has been given a chance to impress Thomas Frank, although that does not rule out the possibility of a loan move later this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur have now confirmed George Abbott has signed a new, long-term contract with the club. The 19-year-old is a product of the Tottenham academy, having first joined Spurs in the Under-8s.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Abbott rose through the ranks at Tottenham and was captain of the Under-21 side that won the Premier League 2 title in the 2023/24 season.

Abbott could be set for higher-level loan this season

Having spent last season out on loan in the English fourth tier, the youngster would be hoping to continue his development at a higher level if he is to head out on loan.

Securing a move to a side in the Championship or League One would be a huge step in his young career, as he continues to hone his skills on English soil.

Tottenham should know the two best clubs for Mikey Moore to join this summer - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham already have a plan in motion for Mikey Moore this summer – but what kind of loan move would actually benefit the teenage star?

On the transfer front this summer for Tottenham Hotspur, it has been a quiet few days, as no new signings have come through the door just yet.

However, in terms of outgoings, Tottenham have managed to complete a few, with Josh Keeley’s sale to Luton Town, Ashley Phillips’ loan to Stoke City, and Alejo Veliz’s loan return to Rosario Central.

Spurs are now Asia-bound, with their pre-season tour set to kick off with a clash against Arsenal in Hong Kong, China – the first ever north London derby to take place away from English soil.

Thomas Frank has since named his Tottenham squad to feature on tour, and there have been a few omissions, with one especially catching the eye – Mikey Moore.

Tottenham youngster Mikey Moore set for a loan move

Moore has featured a lot for Tottenham in the last two seasons, making his debut under Ange Postecoglou in 2024 at the age of 16 years, nine months and three days, coming on as a substitute in Tottenham’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Since then, the 17-year-old has featured 21 times for the Tottenham first team, scoring one goal and registering two assists.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This pre-season, Moore has been heavily involved, featuring in Tottenham’s clashes against Reading and Luton Town, but with the youngster not making the trip to Asia, it could suggest that he is set to embark on his first loan move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

During this summer transfer window, reports have linked Moore with a move away from Spurs, as UEFA Champions League sides show interest in the young English talent.

Borussia Dortmund have been linked with a move for Moore and are even said to be considering submitting a bid for the 17-year-old.

Juventus have also been reported to be keeping tabs on the Spurs youngster, as the Old Lady continues their rebuild under new head coach Igor Tudor.

With interest aplenty, Moore is not short of options and could very well find himself lining up in a shirt that is not the Lilywhite of Tottenham next season.

Spurs should loan Moore to one of two clubs

It was reported a few days back that Mikey Moore is open to a move away from Tottenham, as he is in search of more minutes.

Spurs are also said to be looking to hand Moore a new contract, which shows their intent not to lose one of the brightest prospects to come out of their academy.

A loan move to a side like Borussia Dortmund or Juventus could very well be an exciting prospect for the youngster, but given that Moore has little experience playing consistently in England, it might not be the best option for the teenager at this stage.

English football is different from the rest of Europe, given how physical it tends to be. Moore has to develop himself in England first if he is to break into the Tottenham first team soon.

The young talent looks a tad better than the EFL League One level, and as such, Tottenham should be looking to loan him to a tier above that.

The Championship could be a good fit for the youngster to hone his talent and quality. Spurs do have a good relationship with West Bromwich Albion, having loaned Will Lankshear and Yang Min-Hyeok to the Championship side last season.

Ryan Mason is now the head coach of West Brom, which would only strengthen the relationship between Tottenham and the Midlands club, making it a very good option for Moore to go and develop.

On the other hand, Scottish football is obviously very similar in style to the English game. It has emerged that Rangers are now the frontrunners to take Moore on loan from Tottenham this summer.

Not only would that allow Moore to get valuable first-team experience in the British game, but there is something he would get with Rangers that even Ryan Mason and West Brom could not offer.

The Spurs academy graduate would likely find himself in a title race with Celtic this season, while also playing Champions League football if Rangers qualify for the main competition.

If Tottenham can agree on a loan move that earns Mikey Moore 30+ senior matches this season, as well as experience fighting for a league title, as well as experience in Europe’s biggest competition – that sounds almost too good to be true! For us, it simply has to be West Brom or Rangers.
