Description

A Tottenham insider has now shared what he knows about Heung-min Son’s future as the Tottenham captain is linked with a potential exit.

It was revealed a few days ago that Tottenham Hotspur are open to parting ways with Heung-min Son, amidst interest from Saudi Arabia.

The Spurs captain, who bagged 11 goals and 11 assists last season, struggled to reach his usual heights, as injuries and inconsistency plagued his 2024/25 campaign.

Regardless, the Tottenham captain ended the season with a piece of silverware, after Spurs won the UEFA Europa League, following their 1-0 win over Manchester United.

Paul O’Keefe lifts lid on Tottenham stance over Heung-min Son

Tottenham fans were very open to the news that Son could leave the club this summer, with some supporters labelling the club captain a legend of Spurs, but urging the Lilywhites to cash in on him.

Paul O’Keefe has now revealed what the feeling from within Tottenham is about the potential departure of the club captain.

According to the journalist, Spurs are in no rush to part ways with the Korean winger, and would only be tempted to sell if a significant offer comes in, as there is no pressure on Son to leave Hotspur Way.

MORE SPURS STORIES

O’Keefe told the Last Word on Spurs (1:08:00): “If a big bid came for him, they would let him decide if he wanted to stay at the club or move on. I do not think they are particularly in a mad rush to get him out of the building and I do not think necessarily he is in a mad rush.

“If it comes to a point where they get a serious bid and he said ‘look, I fancy a change’, I think that now he has got that trophy, the landscape has slightly changed.

“He could go now, and everyone would consider him a total hero. I think he and everyone would be at peace with that now. They are not going to take, say, £10m because you would keep him around for that – he is worth that all day long.

“If a serious bid came and he felt it was right to engage with that, then maybe the club would deal, but I do not think they are actively trying to put him out the door.”

Spurs must find a long-term Son replacement

Regardless of Heung-min Son’s decision on whether to leave or stay, Tottenham need to strengthen the left wing position of their squad.

A replacement needs to be found for the winger, as Mathys Tel failed to impress during his six-month loan spell in north London last season.

Tottenham continue to be linked with Eberechi Eze, who would be the ideal replacement for the Spurs captain, but at the moment, nothing concrete has been decided by the Tottenham board.

Tottenham insider confirms Eberechi Eze is still a target but Bryan Mbeumo could change things

Description

Tottenham have identified Eberechi Eze and Bryan Mbeumo as their top attacking targets, but will have to decide on one over the other this summer window.

Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer activity this summer has so far been limited to just one deal, with Spurs confirming the permanent signing of Kevin Danso following his loan spell in the winter window.

The transfer window is expected to close briefly on 10 June, to allow clubs involved in the Club World Cup to finalise their business before the tournament begins, and will then reopen on 16 June before closing again on 1 September.

Of course, there is still ample time for Tottenham to strengthen their squad, as they have been linked with several high-profile signings, with a couple of them particularly standing out as exciting potential additions.

Tottenham weigh up Eberechi Eze or Bryan Mbeumo move

Spurs are now said to have joined the race to sign Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo, who bagged 20 goals in 38 appearances last season, in what could be a reunion with Thomas Frank, should the Danish manager seal a move to north London.

Eberechi Eze has also been mentioned as a key target, with reports suggesting Tottenham are plotting a marquee signing this summer, and the Crystal Palace winger is firmly on the club’s radar.

Both players would add undeniable quality to Tottenham’s attacking options, as the club looks to add firepower to their frontline ahead of next season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Respected journalist Paul O’Keefe has now weighed in on Tottenham’s interest in Eze, stating that while the Palace midfielder remains a serious target, the financial aspect and Thomas Frank’s potential desire to reunite with Mbeumo could tilt the balance away from Eze.

Speaking on Last Word on Spurs, O’Keefe said (1:03:15): “They would like to do that deal.

“I think he is a player who is still most definitely on their radar, but it is just the funds and obviously you have got the spanner in the works that their ears have been pricked by Thomas Frank with regards to Mbeumo and that is something they are looking at currently.

“I’m not saying it’s something they’ll press the button on but if they get Thomas Frank over the line, he is someone they would consider.”

Spurs must weigh cost of Eberechi Eze and Bryan Mbeumo transfers

Tottenham certainly find themselves in a delicate spot, as Eze is believed to have a £68 million release clause that becomes active this summer, while Mbeumo is expected to command a £50 million fee if he is to depart Brentford.

Should Tottenham pursue both players, the club could be looking at a combined outlay of nearly £150 million on just two attackers during this window.

That figure becomes even more significant when considering that other areas of the squad require attention, with reports indicating that Spurs could make up to five new signings before the window closes.

Description

Tottenham are set to make another major backroom addition, with a former Manchester United and Arsenal coach potentially poised to join Thomas Frank in north London.

The signing of Thomas Frank from Brentford is still in the works, as reports claim that talks have carried on this morning.

Of course, this comes after Fabrizio Romano appended his famous ‘here we go’ to the Frank and Spurs deal, but his report has since been labelled premature.

It was revealed that details about the contract and the members of the backroom staff who are expected to join Frank are still being finalised.

Andreas Georgson could join Tottenham backroom staff with Thomas Frank

A £10 million release clause has been reported to be the fee Tottenham are expected to pay to prise Thomas Frank away from Brentford.

It has also been claimed that meeting Frank’s release clause would not be an issue for Tottenham, who are eager to get the deal over the line as soon as possible.

Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas has now revealed a staff member who could join Thomas Frank at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as negotiations continue with Brentford.

MORE SPURS STORIES

According to the journalist, Andreas Georgson is another staff member who could join Thomas Frank at Tottenham this summer.

The 43-year-old coach is a set-piece expert who only just left Manchester United, previously worked at Brentford in 2020 and was also part of the setup at Arsenal.

Spurs hope Andreas Georgson solves set-piece woes

Spurs have often suffered with set-pieces under Ange Postecoglou at times during games, and Frank would be hoping Georgson can help improve the Lilywhites’ defending of set-pieces.

It has been reported that five other members of Frank’s backroom staff are expected to join him in his move to north London.

Daniel Levy desperately tries to convince Tottenham star to sign new contract

Daniel Levy desperately tries to convince Tottenham star to sign new contract - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur will attempt to offer a contract extension to one of their best players, but he remains intent on departing the club this summer.

The summer transfer window can be both a blessing and a curse. It provides the opportunity to sign new players, while others could be lured away to join other clubs.

Tottenham will be considering their options, but one of their biggest priorities is keeping Cristian Romero at the club. There have been concerns since Atletico Madrid entered the race to sign Romero that he will look to leave Spurs.

More recently, it was suggested Romero would stay at Tottenham if Ange Postecoglou remained in charge. However, with Postecoglou no longer managing Spurs, things are not looking good in relation to the Argentine centre-back.

Daniel Levy wants Cristian Romero to sign a new Tottenham contract

Marca (via Sport Witness) report that Atlético CEO Miguel Ángel Gil is working to convince Daniel Levy to sell Romero to the LaLiga side. Gil has previous experience negotiating with Levy over the transfers of Kieran Trippier, Matt Doherty and Sergio Reguilon.

Levy is said to be trying to extend Romero’s contract by offering him an increased salary. There are only two years left on his current contract, but Spurs have maintained an asking price of €70m (£59m).

However, Romero wants to leave Tottenham and if he puts pressure on the Premier League side to sell, Spurs could be convinced to lower their asking price.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham are in a weakened position, as it has long been reported that Romero’s future could be directly tied to that of Ange Postecoglou – the very manager Daniel Levy just sacked.

Spurs have messed up on Cristian Romero

The importance of having a World Cup winning centre-half in a team’s squad should not be understated. Romero has not been at the top of his game this season, but his quality as a defender has been undeniable since he made the switch from Atalanta to Spurs.

The fact that he is desperate to leave the club shows Tottenham have made some errors. Even if Spurs convince him to stay for another season, he could leave next summer for a reduced transfer fee. Unless Romero commits to Spurs long-term, there is no positive scenario.

Replacing a player of Romero’s calibre will be very tricky and if he does leave, an appropriate amount of resources must be spent to find an adequate replacement.

Tottenham Hotspur offer two players to Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce

Tottenham Hotspur offer two players to Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly offered two players to Fenerbahce, but Jose Mourinho has not yet decided if he wants to sign them.

The summer transfer window has arrived and Tottenham have a chance to add players to their squad. However, Spurs may opt for addition by subtraction and sell some players before making new signings.

Some of the Tottenham first-team squad are coming towards the end of their contracts, meaning Spurs need to sell quickly if they are to receive a transfer fee.

One of these players is Yves Bissouma, who has only one year remaining on his current contract. Another is Richarlison, who has an additional year, but he has constantly been linked with a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham offer Richarlison and Yves Bissouma to Fenerbahce

One recent report revealed Jose Mourinho wants to sign Bissouma from Tottenham. Another source has now appeared to suggest the move could happen, but the former Spurs manager has not yet given it the green light.

Turkiye Gazetesi have claimed Spurs have offered Bissouma to Fenerbahce, but Mourinho has not yet made a decision on whether he wants the club to enter transfer talks for the midfielder.

As well as Bissouma, Richarlison has reportedly also been offered to Fenerbahce, after Edin Dzeko left the club.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Richarlison previously rubbished rumours linking him to a move away from Spurs, after he was said to be interested in a move to the Saudi Pro League. However, his links to Fenerbahce appear to have been instigated by Tottenham, rather than a personal desire from him to sign for the Turkish outfit.

Richarlison and Bissouma had difficult seasons at Spurs

Richarlison has had a torrid time with injuries since making the switch from Everton to Spurs. This season alone, he missed 37 matches due to injury. He has shown he loves the club, but an eventual move seems inevitable.

Yves Bissouma has had injury struggles of his own, but his biggest problem has been consistency. On his day, he is a tough tackler and provides a strong presence in the centre of the park. However, he often lets the game pass him by and did not look at his best until near the end of the season.

Thomas Frank warned he is taking a step down by swapping Brentford for Tottenham

Thomas Frank warned he is taking a step down by swapping Brentford for Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

Martin Keown has now stated that Thomas Frank will be stepping down by leaving Brentford for Tottenham this summer.

Ange Postecoglou has since been sacked as Tottenham Hotspur manager after just two seasons at the helm, with the club looking to appoint a new manager in the coming days.

Thomas Frank of Brentford has since emerged as Tottenham’s preferred choice, after holding several meetings with the club chairman, Daniel Levy.

The Brentford boss would be heading into the Spurs dugout to make them competitive in the Premier League, after Postecoglou’s poor domestic campaign last season, one that saw Tottenham finish in 17th place – their worst ever league finish in history.

Martin Keown questions Thomas Frank’s move to Tottenham

But Arsenal man Martin Keown does not believe that it is the right move for Frank, with the former defender labelling the switch a step down from Brentford.

Of course, with Spurs finishing so far down the table last season, only three clubs were worse than the Lilywhites, while sixteen others fared better.

Frank’s Brentford were one of those sixteen sides, as the Dane led them to a tenth-place finish last campaign, leaving them ten positions higher than Tottenham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Speaking on talkSport, Keown was quick to point out the drop down. He said: “This fella is dropping down by going to Spurs – they are tenth in the table Brentford, with a much smaller budget.”

Why Frank would be stepping up with Spurs

Indeed, it is very naive to label Frank’s move from Brentford to Tottenham a dropdown, especially when you consider the history of the two clubs.

Tottenham have constantly competed in the Premier League and are European champions, which would now afford Frank the chance to manage in the Champions League – a clear step up in his managerial career.

The Dane is also set to have a much bigger budget to work with, and given his track record, he should be able to keep Spurs competitive, given how well he has done with a shoestring budget at Brentford.

Tottenham Hotspur could be without three players at the start of pre-season

Tottenham Hotspur could be without three players at the start of pre-season - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are due to begin their pre-season preparations at the end of July, but some first-team players will be unavailable due to other commitments.

There are nearly two months between now and when Tottenham are next in action. Spurs do not have a scheduled fixture until July 31, when they take on bitter North London rivals Arsenal in the Hong Kong football festival.

This provides time for Spurs to appoint a new manager and allow him to grow familiar with the Tottenham first-team squad.

Better still, there is no senior international tournament this summer, other than the Nations League finals, which finished on Sunday. This means Spurs will have plenty of available players in pre-season, which was not the case last year.

Tottenham will be without their international youngsters

It is not all positive news on the pre-season front. The European Under-21 Championship is on this summer and Spurs have three players competing.

Football London report that Archie Gray is part of the England squad, while Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel will be competing for France. The final will be played in Bratislava on the evening of Saturday, June 28. Therefore, if either side goes all the way, those players will be unavailable at the start of Tottenham’s pre-season tour.

This is because the players will need to be allowed time off in the summer to recover from last season, as well as the Euro U21s tournament.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs will not be worried about playing without their young internationals

Whoever becomes the new manager of Tottenham will be keen on getting to know their whole squad.

However, Gray and Odobert were not first-team starters last season, except when filling in for injured players. Then there is Tel, who is yet to be signed by Spurs on a permanent basis, so there is no guarantee he will be available at all.

Having as many players as possible to prepare for the new season is advantageous, but if last season has taught us anything, it is that players need time to rest to avoid picking up injuries.

Tottenham step up Antoine Semenyo pursuit amid Manchester United competition

Tottenham step up Antoine Semenyo pursuit amid Manchester United competition - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham are making moves behind the scenes as they are reported to have stepped up their pursuit of one explosive Bournemouth forward.

Tottenham Hotspur look set to complete their 16th managerial appointment since 2001 this season, with Thomas Frank’s deal soon to be finalised.

Attention would then turn to on-pitch planning, as Spurs look to bolster their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season, with the Lilywhites expected to compete across multiple competitions.

While rival clubs have been busy completing signings, Tottenham have been left behind, as they are yet to make any other additions to their squad, since Spurs confirmed the permanent purchase of Kevin Danso from RC Lens.

Tottenham step up interest in Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo

Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports is now reporting that Tottenham have been stepping up their interest in Bournemouth winger, Antoine Semenyo.

The Ghanaian forward, who is capable of playing on both the right and the left, impressed at the Vitality Stadium last season, where he scored 13 goals and provided 7 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions for the Cherries.

Spurs have been linked with a move for Semenyo for some time now, with interest going back to the winter window.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, it is now being claimed by the journalist that Manchester United are also admirers of Semenyo, despite their interest in Bryan Mbeumo, which has seen the Red Devils put in a bid for the Brentford man.

Spurs also eye Bryan Mbeumo as competition heats up

Tottenham are also said to be showing interest in Bryan Mbeumo, with reports stating that Thomas Frank has asked the Spurs hierarchy to try to sign Mbeumo this summer, as he is keen to reunite with the 25-year-old.

Mbeumo’s numbers last season are certainly better than Semenyo’s, as the Brentford star notched 20 goals and eight assists in 38 Premier League games for the Bees.

However, as mentioned earlier, United is also in the race for the winger, who is said to be valued at around £50 million by Brentford.

Indeed, it is an interesting situation brewing between these two players and the two clubs, and it is one to keep an eye on.

Yoane Wissa highlights one thing Thomas Frank may struggle with at Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

Yoane Wissa believes Thomas Frank is ready to take the next step in his career, but warns that moving to a bigger club like Tottenham Hotspur comes with its own challenges.

Tottenham Hotspur are now edging closer to securing the services of Thomas Frank, as it is reported that a deal could be completed in the next 48 hours.

Should everything go as planned, then Thomas Frank would be gearing up to be the 16th manager to take charge of Spurs since Daniel Levy’s time as chairman.

The Brentford manager would be tasked with the job of taking Tottenham up the Premier League table, after the Lilywhites finished last season in 17th place, ten places below his Brentford side.

Yoane Wissa shares thoughts on Thomas Frank’s potential Tottenham move

Brentford forward and Tottenham target Yoane Wissa, who grabbed 19 goals in the Premier League last season, has now opened up on how he thinks Frank would do at a bigger club.

Indeed, this comes following strong links between Frank and Spurs, and Wissa believes that his manager is ready for the step up to a bigger Premier League side.

However, the forward was also quick to highlight a few issues that the 51-year-old manager would have to overcome, as he states that the ego in the Tottenham dressing room could be an issue.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He said on the Obi One Podcast last month: “Yes, he is that good. I think it will just be the ego, I think that is the only thing in a big club. You need to be able to deal with egos, because at Brentford no one has an ego. It is easier for him to manage.

“Everyone is willing to work hard. In the big clubs, if you do not perform well you do not get time. I think it is the next stop for him though, because he has shown he is capable.”

Can Thomas Frank manage the egos at Spurs?

Of course, Wissa raises a few good points about dealing with egos at a big club, and while that could be an issue, it is important to note that young managers have often made such a jump.

Enzo Maresca made a significant leap from managing at Leicester City in the Championship to taking charge of Chelsea last season, and so did Vincent Kompany, who went from Burnley to Bayern Munich.

Description

New claims have poured cold water on reports that Thomas Frank has already agreed to become the new Tottenham boss, despite a ‘here we go’ from Fabrizio Romano.

Tottenham Hotspur are still without a manager since they sacked Ange Postecoglou on Friday, 6 June, after his two seasons as Spurs boss.

This morning, we reported that Tottenham’s search had come to an end, following an update from Fabrizio Romano, who appended his famous ‘here we go’ to the Thomas Frank to Spurs deal.

The Italian journalist stated that an agreement between Spurs and Frank had been reached on contract terms and staff, and that Brentford are expected to release Frank for a fee in the region of £10m.

Thomas Frank deal not yet agreed between Tottenham and Brentford

However, a new report from Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas now claims that an agreement between Brentford and Spurs for Frank has not been reached yet.

According to the reporter, it is understood that talks are expected to continue this morning over compensation, as several backroom staff are also under discussion, including Justin Cochrane.

His tweet on X reads: “An agreement between Brentford and Tottenham for Thomas Frank has not been reached yet. Talks are expected to continue this morning over compensation, with several backroom staff also under discussion, including Justin Cochrane.”

Spurs still expected to finalise Frank deal this week

Indeed, it is only a matter of time before Spurs finalise their deal with Brentford over a fee for Frank, which is expected to be in the region of £10m.

Frank himself is open to a move to Tottenham, as it has since been reported that personal terms have been reached between Spurs and Thomas Frank.
