Description

Dominic Solanke has revealed the Tottenham Hotspur team-mate he rushed to before even greeting his own family on that unforgettable Europa League night.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Europa League triumph over Manchester United last season is a moment that will always remain in the hearts of those connected to Tottenham, and it still stands as a defining point in the club’s modern era.

It marked the end of the so-called “banter era” for Spurs, with tags like being “Spursy” slowly fading from conversations surrounding Tottenham as the club finally secured long-awaited silverware.

It was not just special for the club and supporters alone, but for the players who were on the pitch and lived every second of that final, which is why many still cherish that night with real pride.

Dominic Solanke shows his appreciation for Heung-min Son

Heung-min Son finally got his hands on a piece of silverware after a decade of service to Tottenham, giving him the crowning moment he had chased throughout his time in north London.

Speaking about that famous night in Bilbao, Dominic Solanke has now opened up on the Spurs player he congratulated before his own family.

Speaking to The Athletic, the Tottenham striker explained what went through his mind as the referee confirmed the match was over.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Manchester United had a goal kick and I asked the referee, ‘What is going on?,” Solanke recalls.

“He said, ‘It is done.’ So when Andre Onana kicked the ball I said to myself, ‘Damn, we did it.’ I was so happy we won and then I realised Sonny, who had been at the club for so long, actually did it, so I went over to congratulate him.

“After that, I went to see my family. They have been through everything and it was nice to share that moment with them.

“It was the best feeling I have ever had in my life. Even this season, I keep thinking back to it because I want to have that feeling again. Going through football, you never know if you will actually win a trophy. When you do, the feeling is crazy.”

Tottenham’s chances of silverware this season

Heung-min Son later departed Tottenham in the summer, but it was the perfect end to his story at Spurs.

He left as a club legend, the club captain who ended a 17-year wait for silverware in N17, and several Tottenham players have found ways to keep last season’s memories close to them.

Brennan Johnson had the Europa League trophy tattooed on his leg, while Pedro Porro also recently followed suit.

Tottenham will now be hoping to build on last season’s Europa League triumph by adding more silverware to their cabinet this campaign.

The FA Cup, the Premier League and the Champions League are the route to silverware for Frank’s side this season, following their exit from the Carabao Cup in October.

Description

Fabrizio Romano has revealed what his sources are telling him about where Tottenham Hotspur target Antoine Semenyo is likely to end up moving to in January.

The speculation over the Bournemouth winger’s future has gone into hyperdrive since it emerged earlier this week that Semenyo has a £65m release clause in his contract.

Tottenham are among the clubs at the front of the queue to Semenyo, but the Lilywhites will face a difficult task in getting the deal over the line.

It has emerged over recent days that Spurs are fearful of competition from Liverpool for the Cherries star, which is why the North London club are also identifying other alternatives.

Liverpool may have one advantage over Tottenham

Fabrizio Romano has now weighed in on the 25-year-old’s future, revealing that the winger’s release clause drops from £65m to slightly above £50 next summer.

He named Tottenham, Man United and Liverpool as the three clubs circling over the Ghana international, and suggested that the Reds may have an advantage due to their good relationship with Bournemouth.

Romano said about Semenyo on his YouTube channel: “The clause is going to be valid in January and also the summer transfer window. The value is different. For the January transfer window, the value is £60 million plus £5 million in add-ons. For the summer transfer window, it is slightly above £50 million.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Bournemouth hope to keep the player, but if a club triggers the clause or tries to negotiate the value of the clause, that can be different, and in that case, Bournemouth would have to let the player go. Manchester United were interested last summer, and Tottenham also called for Semenyo last summer.

“These two clubs have been following the player for a long time. Liverpool are interested and keen in a potential deal for Antoine Semenyo. From what I am hearing, Liverpool are considering this possibility.

“They are following the player and have a very good relationship with Bournemouth (after signing Milos Kerkez last summer and Ben Doak heading the opposite direction). Let’s see what is going to happen in the next month, so let’s see what is going to happen, there could be another club to add, from what I am hearing.”

Spurs not backing down in Semenyo pursuit

This information about Romano was also backed up by another recent report in TEAMtalk, which claimed that, as things stand, Liverpool are ahead of Tottenham in the race for Semenyo.

However, the outlet claimed that Spurs are not backing down from the race and are not prepared to let the Bournemouth man go to Anfield without a fight.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have decided on the future of their forward, who is attracting interest from Italy.

Thomas Frank has had to deal with a plenty of headaches with his attacking players this season, given Dominic Solanke’s and Randal Kolo Muani’s injury issues.

Neither Richarlison nor Mathys Tel have managed to make the number nine spot their own, although Tel has shown some signs of promise of late.

It emerged last week that AS Roma are plotting a move to sign Tel in January after watching him struggle for regular game time in North London, and Spurs have now made a decision on the forward’s future.

Tottenham will not be selling Mathys Tel

A few days ago, a report from Italy claimed that Tel is keen to leave Tottenham in January with the striker said to be unhappy with his lack of game time together with the decision of being left out of Spurs’ Champions League squad.

However, a new report by Gazzetta dello Sport have now claimed that the Lilywhites are not willing to sell the Frenchman on a permanent basis in January.

The Italian news outlet suggests that a loan move to the Stadio Olimpico for the 20-year-old could instead be ‘the best option’ for all the parties involved.

Why Spurs are unlikely to send Tel out on loan

Randal Kolo Muani could be out of action for the foreseeable future after fracturing his jaw in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against Man United.

Thomas Frank has not sounded confident regarding Dominic Solanke’s return timeline, with the centre-forward still recovering from his ankle surgery.

Instead, it would be likely that Frank will not be too keen to let Tel leave on loan unless the club manage to bring another forward through the door during the January transfer window.

Description

Dominic Solanke has now lifted the lid on his early experiences under new Tottenham boss Thomas Frank, offering a glimpse into what it has been like working with the Dane since his arrival.

Thomas Frank has had a mixed start to life as Tottenham Hotspur manager since his move from Brentford last summer.

The Dane enjoyed a solid opening spell, securing four wins in his first five matches as Spurs manager, including a strong victory over Manchester City in the Premier League.

Tottenham also pushed hard in the UEFA Super Cup before their opening league fixture, only losing on penalties to Paris Saint-Germain after giving them a proper contest.

But recent displays have been inconsistent, with some Spurs supporters even booing Frank’s decisions during league fixtures against Manchester United and Chelsea.

Solanke praises Tottenham boss Thomas Frank

Dominic Solanke, however, believes that Frank is a strong manager who has already made a clear impact at Tottenham.

Before sharing his full thoughts, the Englishman made it clear that the early signs have been overwhelmingly positive.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Speaking to The Athletic, Solanke highlighted how quickly the squad has bought into Frank’s methods.

“I have not had the chance to work with Frank too much but he is a great man manager,” Solanke said.

“All the players are loving having him around. He speaks with us all and has meetings every day. Even with the coaching staff he has brought in, everyone gets on so well. It is a great environment.

“We have had a good start to the season. When a few of us come back from injury and strengthen the squad, hopefully we can do some big things.”

Spurs injuries and Thomas Frank’s tactical options with Dominic Solanke

Solanke is right in his assessment, where he states that Thomas Frank has not had a full squad of players to work with.

Since the Dane took charge, he has had to deal with a significant number of injuries, and at the moment, over ten players are sidelined for Tottenham.

With that many players out, inconsistency is only bound to happen as players struggle to build rhythm, and with key players missing in important areas, the challenge becomes even harder.

Of course, if everyone is fit at the club, Frank will have more tactical options, allowing him to set up his team in a variety of ways, an asset he has not had the chance to fully utilise just yet.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans will not like what Opta’s Supercomputer thinks about the Lilywhites’ chances of getting a result when they come up against Arsenal on Sunday.

Unsurprisingly, the pundits are not giving Tottenham a chance of even putting up a fight against Arsenal on Sunday, with the league leaders being backed to brush their rivals aside.

That is not surprising when one considers the fact that Tottenham have not won at the Emirates in the Premier League for 15 years.

However, Thomas Frank’s men have picked up 13 points from a possible 15 away from home this season, including a 2-0 win at the Etihad Stadium.

Opta believes Tottenham are massive underdogs

Tottenham will not be too encouraged by what Opta’s Supercomputer has predicted about the big derby on Sunday.

The data analysis platform has given the Gunners a whopping 69 per cent chance of securing all three points on Sunday.

MORE SPURS STORIES

In contrast, Tottenham have been handed just a 13.7 per cent chance of picking up their first Premier League win at the Emirates since 2010.

The supercomputer has given Frank’s men a 17.3 per cent chance of emerging with a point from the game.

Key Spurs man could miss the North London derby due to injury

Tottenham already had a big injury list ahead of the international break, and one more player has now been added to it.

Pape Matar Sarr picked up an injury while playing for Senegal against Brazil, and Spurs are sweating on the midfielder’s fitness ahead of their trip to the Emirates.

Tottenham Hotspur face competition from an unlikely source as they eye a move for a Serie A midfield star.

Based on the speculation over the last few weeks, it appears that Thomas Frank is looking to strengthen Spurs’ midfield department in January.

Conor Gallagher is thought to be on Tottenham’s radar, but he is not the only former Premier League star which the Lilywhites are considering bringing back to England.

It has been reported that Spurs are eyeing a move for Scott McTominay, who has become one of Napoli’s most important players since his switch from Old Trafford in the summer of 2024.

Everton are willing to challenge Tottenham for Scott McTominay

It has now been reported by Fichajes that Everton are also prepared to offer the Scotland international a route back to the Premier League.

It is revealed that the Toffees want to add a midfielder who can contribute both offensively and defensively, and they have identified McTominay as their top target.

According to the report, Everton are willing to shell out €70m (£61.7m) to take the former Manchester United man to the Hill Dickinson Stadium in January.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This is because David Moyes is a huge admirer of McTominay and sees him as a ‘game-changer’ for his midfield.

What is Napoli’s stance on Scott McTominay?

Fichajes say that the 28-year-old is happy in Naples and remains a key part of Antonio Conte’s side.

However, despite this, Napoli would consider his sale if a tempting offer comes their way from the Premier League. The publication concludes that ‘everything hinges’ on the size of the bids that arrive for McTominay.

Tottenham Hotspur are in the market for 'world-class' player ahead of January transfer window - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham are gearing up for a decisive January window, and fresh indications now suggest that the push for reinforcements could extend far beyond the forward line.

Tottenham Hotspur fans have every reason to be excited for the January transfer window, with a little over a month before it opens.

Spurs are looking to show more drive in the transfer market, and there is money to be spent, especially after the Lewis Family’s recent £100 million cash injection, which has put the club in a strong position heading into the winter.

Tottenham’s attacking options has often been touted as the position that is in need of significant investment; however, fresh reports now claim that another position is also being considered this winter.

Guglielmo Vicario’s status as number one choice is at risk

This report comes from The Daily Mail, who state that despite Tottenham looking to sign a new centre-forward, Spurs are also in the market for a world-class goalkeeper.

It is believed that while Guglielmo Vicario has often impressed this season, his inability to command his penalty area and his struggles with set pieces have led Tottenham to consider replacements.

There is money to be spent, and the Lewis Family has promised to back the club in the transfer market, but it remains unclear what areas of the pitch will be strengthened.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Antonin Kinsky was only signed last winter, and given his age, he could become the future number one in N17, but Spurs are still on the lookout for a shot stopper as they assess their long-term options.

Not only is the number nine and the goalkeeping department a matter of concern, but the wide area, particularly on the left, also needs reinforcing.

Tottenham fans have been clear about it, with supporters urging for all of the cash injection from the Lewis Family to be spent on Antoine Semenyo.

The Bournemouth man is now expected to be available for a lot less this winter, given the clause in his contract, which gives Spurs a boost in their pursuit of the 25-year-old.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a major blow in their pursuit of an exciting La Liga attacker.

It has been widely reported that Spurs are expected to prioritise signing a wide-forward over a centre-forward in January.

Over the last week, it has come to light that the Lilywhites are turning their attention to a former Real Madrid man, who can play on either flank or as a number ten.

Tottenham have allegedly made Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo their top priority, with the Lilywhites thought to be willing to meet his £53m release clause.

Tottenham target Takefusa Kubo makes January plans clear

It has been suggested that Real Sociedad would be willing to sell Kubo to Spurs in order to balance their books.

Some sources have even claimed over the last few days that the Japan international is in favour of a January switch to Tottenham.

However, the 24-year-old has completely shut down the rumours by making it clear that he will not be leaving Sociedad in the upcoming transfer window.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Speaking after Japan’s 3-0 win over Bolivia on Tuesday, Kubo told Chosun Biz: “There will be no winter move.”

Spurs are eyeing two exciting Premier League wingers

It has been widely reported over the last few months that Antoine Semenyo is Tottenham’s preferred target in January as they look to bolster their options out wide.

However, even though Semenyo has a £65m release clause in his contract, several outlets have claimed that Liverpool are currently ahead of Spurs in the race for the Bournemouth star.

Dominic Solanke gives honest update on his ‘difficult’ Tottenham injury recovery and return hopes

Dominic Solanke gives honest update on his 'difficult' Tottenham injury recovery and return hopes - Spurs Web
Description

Dominic Solanke has now given an honest update on his injury recovery and the mood in the Tottenham Hotspur camp.

Thomas Frank is currently navigating a difficult injury crisis at Tottenham Hotspur, with more than ten players sidelined because of various physical issues.

The Dane will be hoping for some form of relief following the November international break as Tottenham prepare to face Arsenal, especially with several key players pushing to return to full fitness at Hotspur Way.

Dominic Solanke had been tipped for a possible return in the coming weeks, although the striker has now addressed his situation, choosing not to put a fixed date on when he expects to be involved again.

Solanke has been battling with injury problems since pre-season and has managed only a handful of minutes in competitive action, coming off the bench briefly during Tottenham’s matches in August.

He has been managing an ankle problem and even underwent surgery, yet he is still working individually and has not been able to return to full training on the grass at Hotspur Way.

Speaking about a potential return, he revealed the emotional and physical toll his recovery has taken, explaining how the initial diagnosis proved misleading and how surgery became necessary.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He told The Athletic: “It has been very difficult. At first, I did not think I would be out for too long but we did not really understand the extent of the injury.

“I was trying to get back as quickly as I could but it did not happen, so I had to have surgery. Since then, I have been working to get back.

“I am not putting a timeline on it because I have been telling everyone ‘I am going to be back soon’ for the last few months. I am taking it day by day but hopefully I will not be much longer.”

Spurs’ forward options are thin as Dominic Solanke remains sidelined

This all but rules Dominic Solanke out of this weekend’s north London derby against Arsenal, as Frank’s options in the centre-forward role continue to look thin at a crucial stage of the season.

The Dane currently has Richarlison, Mathys Tel and Dane Scarlett as his senior options in that position, and he will be hoping to avoid further setbacks in that area of the pitch with fixtures piling up in the wake of Randal Kolo Muani’s fractured jaw.

Indeed, Solanke is a big miss for Tottenham, and given his profile and the way he links play, a return to full fitness will be a major boost for Frank, as he will be able to set up his side in more varied ways, an asset he has not had in the past few months..

Tottenham Hotspur may need to act fast if they wish to land a Serie A star who has been on their radar since the summer.

Spurs ended up completing late deals for Randal Kolo Muani and Xavi Simons in the final days of the summer transfer window, but there were many other attackers for whom the Lilywhites explored moves.

One of those is Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, who Tottenham attempted to sign on loan with an option to buy, before they turned their attention to Kolo Muani.

Spurs have been backed to reignite their interest in Lookman in January, but they now face competition from two other clubs.

Fenerbahce and Galatasaray want Ademola Lookman

Football Italia report that Fenerbahce also tried to sign the Atalanta star in the final few days of the summer transfer window.

The Turkish giants are now ready to try again for Lookman in January, and they have been joined in the race by their fierce rivals, Galatasaray.

Gala are hoping to unite the 28-year-old with his international teammate Victor Osimhen, but neither club from Istanbul have put any concrete proposals on the table yet.

Spurs’ pursuit of Lookman is complicated by recent development

Some reports from Italy have claimed over recent weeks that Tottenham are ready to pay £51m for Lookman in January.

However, a couple of days ago, TEAMtalk pointed out that Spurs’ pursuit of Lookman has become complicated due to a managerial change at Atalanta.

While Lookman had fallen out with former manager Ivan Juric and was seeking an exit, new manager Raffaele Palladino is keen on integrating the forward into his plans.
