Radu Dragusin reveals his 2026 plans at Tottenham after ‘biggest challenge of my life’ - Spurs Web
Description

People up and down the country will be working on their New Year’s resolutions, and Radu Dragusin has one of his own, which involves his position at Tottenham Hotspur.

Radu Dragusin has not had things easy since he made the move to Tottenham Hotspur nearly two years ago. The central defender struggled for game time at first and failed to impress when he did receive minutes.

Dragusin became important to Spurs under Ange Postecoglou because of the host of injuries which affected the Tottenham first-team squad. However, the Romanian’s performances were often met by criticism, until he suffered an ACL injury in January, which saw him ruled out for the rest of the season.

Since then, Dragusin has spent almost a year on the sidelines, and he only made his long-awaited competitive return last Sunday in the 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

Radu Dragusin wants to become a regular starter again at Tottenham

Many months passed before Dragusin was able to kick a ball again, and he has described the experience as the ‘biggest challenge’ of his life.

He told Tottenham Hotspur: “It’s been a long journey, the biggest challenge of my life. I just kept going. I had people next to me who helped me, my teammates, my family, and my fiancé.

“I knew the road was going to be long, but I knew there was going to be a light at the end of it. Today, I’ve seen the light. I can’t even describe the feeling I’m having.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I miss this feeling, I miss this atmosphere, the fans, and my team-mates on the pitch. I miss the football. I’m just so happy right now,” he said, reflecting on the post-match scenes.

“I couldn’t ask for anything better. My family was here, and as I said, we won. I think it’s the best comeback I could have ever done.”

Dragusin is delighted to be back playing for Tottenham and he has laid down his ambitions for the coming year. He said: “I learned to have patience and believe in doing the right things over and over again,” the centre-back continued.

“A big part of my recovery was just doing the same things over and over again, just to get better at it and have a normal knee again.

“It looks easy, but it’s a pretty big thing that the surgeon did in my knee. So, just to come back from that and perform at the level the Premier League asks you to perform, it takes time.

“I’m just hoping to come back onto the pitch and fight for my place. Hopefully, this year is going to be an even better one than 2025 for us as a team.”

Dragusin faces a lot of competition at Spurs

Although Dragusin saw plenty of starts last season, this was due to an unprecedented injury crisis at the club. Whereas now, there are plenty of players competing in the centre of defence for Tottenham.

Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are still the firm favourites to start whenever they are available, and Kevin Danso has played well when called upon.

If Dragusin is to have any chance of regularly featuring for Spurs, he will need to up his game and deliver performances which are levels above what he has shown up to this point.

Tottenham are ‘readying a fresh swoop’ for Savinho after Antoine Semenyo twist - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur remain hopeful that Manchester City will change their mind regarding Savinho over the coming days and weeks.

Tottenham tried until summer transfer deadline day to land Savinho, but Pep Guardiola’s men refused to let the winger leave.

The Brazilian has since penned a new deal at the Etihad Stadium, but he has found starts hard to come by this term.

Over recent weeks, some sources have indicated that Spurs could try again for Savinho during the January window, as the club will miss out on their top target, Antoine Semenyo.

Tottenham hoping Antoine Semenyo deal changes Man City’s stance on Savinho

Over recent days, the likes of Fabrizio Romano have claimed that Man City are unlikely to be receptive to offers for Savinho in January, suggesting that any deal would have to wait until next summer.

However, talkSPORT have now claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are now ‘readying a fresh swoop’ for the 21-year-old winger.

Despite their advances being rebuffed by City in the summer, the Lilywhites are thought to be hopeful that the Manchester club will change their mind once they land Semenyo.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Bournemouth winger is expected to arrive at the Etihad Stadium, and Thomas Frank’s side remain hopeful that it will trigger a potential sale of the former Genoa man.

However, the outlet adds that it is unlikely that City would be willing to offload both Savinho and Oscar Bobb in January.

Spurs’ hopes may lie on Savinho’s stance on his future

It was reported in TEAMtalk a few days ago that Tottenham first want to speak to Savinho to find out if he is keen on a move to N17.

It was explained that if the winger does not express a desire to join Spurs, the North Londoners will not bother testing the waters.

The Lilywhites may thus be hoping that Savinho pushes through the transfer, particularly if Semenyo arrives through the door, as that would likely limit the Brazilian’s game time even more.

Tottenham willing to make ‘very significant offer’ to land £100m Premier League star - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are now ready to push ahead with an ambitious move for one of the most exciting young players in the Premier League.

There have been plenty of suggestions over recent days that Spurs may look to bolster their midfield in January, with the speculation coming amidst suggestions that Yves Bissouma could be on his way out from N17.

As we approach the January window, we have heard suggestions that Tottenham are keen on bringing Ruben Neves back to the Premier League.

However, a new update has now claimed that the Lilywhites may go after a midfielder, who is thought to be valued at a whopping £100m.

Tottenham prepared to make a big offer for Adam Wharton

According to TEAMtalk, Spurs are now set to step up their pursuit of Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton.

The outlet reveals that the Lilywhites tried to sign the 21-year-old in the summer, but their interest was knocked back. They are prepared to try again in January, and this time, Thomas Frank’s men are willing to make ‘a very significant offer’ for the player.

The report explains that Tottenham have prepared an exhaustive list of targets, in which Wharton sits at the ambitious end of the spectrum.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The North Londoners see the England international as ‘the ideal profile’ to build around in the long-term, with the club willing to position themselves at the front of the negotiations.

Will Crystal Palace be receptive to offers for Wharton?

TEAMtalk say that Spurs know they would have to act quickly to move to the front of the queue for the midfielder, as he is also on the wishlist of Manchester United.

It is explained that the Palace chiefs are determined to keep hold of Wharton, given that they are likely to lose Marc Guehi in January.

However, there is said to be an acceptance among the Selhurst Park hierarchy that the former Blackburn Rovers man will be allowed to leave the club should the right offer arrive.

The publication adds that while a move for Wharton in January may prove nearly impossible for Tottenham, the club are prepared to lay the groundwork for a potential deal further down the line.

Tottenham to recall two exciting youngsters from loan in search of more minutes - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are now weighing up important recalls on several of their brightest academy prospects following an underwhelming opening to the campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur are a side looking to position itself as one of the top teams in the Premier League after a few shaky years.

Creating a side capable of competing now remains vital, but as a big club, keeping an eye on the future is equally important.

Youngsters remain part of the fabric of the north London club, who have looked to offer players with potential a pathway to first-team football in north London and abroad.

Tottenham make decision on academy loan recalls

Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall continue to fight for a spot in the first team at Spurs, while the likes of Luka Vuskovic, Mikey Moore, Jamie Donley, Damola Ajayi and others have been loaned out to gain necessary game time.

The Daily Mail are now reporting that Tottenham are set to recall Jamie Donley and Damola Ajayi from their respective loan spells at Stoke and Doncaster in search of more minutes.

Donley, who impressed last season while with Leyton Orient after winning their player of the season award, has not started a Championship game for Stoke all season and has not appeared since October.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This lack of involvement in first-team matches has led Spurs to reconsider his loan, with the 20-year-old potentially heading back to north London this winter before being loaned elsewhere.

Spurs reassess next steps for Donley and Ajayi

Meanwhile, Ajayi has made 19 appearances for Doncaster, including one against Spurs in the Carabao Cup, but he has started just once in League One.

This lack of game time, along with his team’s alarming decline since losing that cup tie at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, has seen Rovers boss Grant McCann seek to make changes in January.

It is understood that Spurs will now look for another move for both Donley and Ajayi in the winter transfer window.

Brennan Johnson set for Crystal Palace medical as he nears £35m Tottenham exit - Spurs Web
Description

Brennan Johnson is close to sealing a move away from Tottenham Hotspur, and it appears his next destination has already been decided.

Brennan Johnson is expected to leave Tottenham Hotspur in January, concluding a two and a half year spell in North London.

The 24-year-old has never really managed to establish himself as a regular starter at Spurs, even after scoring the all-important goal which saw them win the Europa League final.

Johnson has been linked with seven different clubs over the past few days, but it appears the player has already made up his mind on his future.

Johnson set to have a medical at Crystal Palace

According to the Telegraph, Johnson is due to have a medical at Crystal Palace over the next 24 hours in order to complete his move away from Spurs.

The Eagles are confident in getting the deal wrapped up quickly and anticipate Johnson being available to face Newcastle on Sunday.

As previously reported, Tottenham will receive £35m for the sale of their winger, who was the club’s top goalscorer last season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham should be able to replace Brennan Johnson

While Johnson scored a decent number of goals, he was not a first-choice player for the most part under Ange Postecoglou, and he has not made any strides under Thomas Frank.

It should not be too difficult to find a replacement for the Welshman, and the most likely candidate will be someone who primarily plays as a left-sided winger.

Tottenham fans will love Dominic Solanke’s long-awaited positive injury update - Spurs Web
Description

Dominic Solanke has taken a huge step in his road back from injury, with the Tottenham striker posting a funny update on social media.

Over the last 12 months, Spurs fans have been left extremely frustrated with how the return dates for injured players keep getting pushed back despite what seem like innocuous injuries at first.

It happened to Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven last term, while Dejan Kulusevski’s return date has been continuously pushed back this season.

The latest victim is Dominic Solanke, who was initially expected to return during the November international break after belatedly having ankle surgery in September.

What has added to the frustration of the supporters is that, over recent weeks, Frank has refused to put a timeline on Solanke’s return, simply stating that he will give an update on the striker when he is fit to return.

However, after what feels like an eternity, it appears that the England international is finally on the cusp of returning to action.

Solanke took to Instagram stories to post a clip of himself back in outdoor training, and he poked fun at the situation by adding the caption ‘still alive’.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs’ injury situation is getting better

More good news could be around the corner for Spurs, with reports indicating that Dejan Kulusevski and Destiny Udogie are also set to return to action in January.

Meanwhile, Kota Takai has now fully recovered, with the Japanese international being named in the matchday squad at Selhurst Park.

However, James Maddison still has a long way to go in his rehabilitation, with the Spurs attacking midfielder only expected to return towards the end of the campaign.

Thomas Frank outlines Tottenham’s plans for Mason Melia as new signing arrives - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank has opened up on Tottenham Hotspur’s plans for 18-year-old Mason Melia set to join Spurs officially in January.

Tottenham Hotspur will not have to wait too long for a new arrival to come through the door when the January transfer window opens.

This is because Spurs already completed the signing of sought-after forward Mason Melia from St Patrick’s Athletic for £1.6m plus add-ons back in February.

The forward could not join in the summer and had to bide his time until this winter because of post-Brexit rules that allow 18-year-olds to join new clubs.

Thomas Frank on Tottenham’s plan for Mason Melia

With Melia now set to arrive at the club at the turn of the year, Thomas Frank has spoken about the process Tottenham will go through before deciding the next steps for the young forward.

Explaining that several factors still need to be assessed once Mason Melia arrives at the club, Frank outlined how the decision-making process will unfold.

The Spurs boss told the club media channel: “We meet him in the club first here on 1 January. There are a lot of moving parts and then when we know all of the moving parts then we will take the final decision on what we are doing.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

What Mason Melia could offer Spurs long-term

Melia looks like a player with significant potential, given his impressive performances at St Patrick’s Athletic, where he developed a habit of finding the back of the net.

The forward managed 13 goals and four assists from 35 league matches in Ireland (you can watch all of Mason Melia’s goals here), highlighting his natural ability to sniff out chances.

Fabrizio Romano reveals what he knows about Tottenham selling Radu Dragusin - Spurs Web
Description

Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that talks have already been held regarding the sale of Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin in January.

Regular readers of Spurs Web will be aware that there has been plenty of speculation linking Dragusin with a return to Serie A in January.

It was first reported that AS Roma have enquired about the availability of Dragusin as they look to bolster their defence over the coming weeks.

It subsequently emerged that the Spurs centre-back is also on the wishlist of Inter Milan, AC Milan and Napoli as we approach the January transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano says Radu Dragusin’s situation at Tottenham could change

Over recent days, an increasing number of Italian outlets have suggested that Fabio Paratici could take the Spurs defender to Fiorentina if he takes over as La Viola’s head of football.

Romano has now confirmed that both Fiorentina and Roma have made enquiries about Dragusin, and while Tottenham have not greenlighted a sale yet, they could do so over the coming weeks.

The journalist said on his YouTube channel: “A name to keep an eye on certainly during the winter market is that of Radu Dragusin, central defender of Tottenham, who is returning from an injury and who could return to Italy.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“In this case, we must be patient with Tottenham, because as of today, Tottenham have not given the okay for the player, but it is expected that this matter could be unlocked in the coming weeks. Two clubs that have started, as far as I understand, to think about it are Roma and Fiorentina.”

What fee do Spurs want for Dragusin?

Some sources have said that Tottenham value Dragusin at €30m (£26.1m) ahead of the January transfer window.

Others have suggested that Spurs could be open to loaning out the 23-year-old with an option or obligation to buy in the summer for the right conditions.

Former Tottenham player accuses Thomas Frank of ‘talking nonsense’ in press conferences

Former Tottenham player accuses Thomas Frank of ‘talking nonsense’ in press conferences - Spurs Web
Description

Ramon Vega is extremely frustrated at what Thomas Frank has been saying in his recent Tottenham press conferences.

Even though there has been plenty of speculation on Thomas Frank’s Tottenham future of late, the Dane has remained defiant.

The Spurs boss has reiterated that he expects to be given time to turn around the club’s predicament, but it remains to be seen if the Tottenham board will remain patient for too much longer.

Frank suggested recently that the Tottenham players picked up a losing habit last season, and that is not the first time the 52-year-old has referenced the side’s struggles under Ange Postecoglou.

Ramon Vega tells Thomas Frank to resign from Tottenham

The Dane has also reminded us on multiple occasions that he took over a club which finished in 17th place last season.

Vega is tired of hearing those excuses, suggesting that Frank has failed to get much out of the Tottenham squad despite having more fit players than Postecoglou.

The former Spurs defender wrote on X: “Frank, stop talking about last season. They finished 17th. You now have more fit players than Ange had last season, yet you’re still not better off. In fact, it’s a shambles.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“At least Ange, with no support, made a miserable season into a wonderful ending for the fans by winning the European Cup and qualifying for the CL. You are now enjoying. So please do us a favour and resign, mate!”

Frank is correct when he brings up Spurs’ past record

A lot of Tottenham fans may not like it when Frank brings up Tottenham’s record in the 18 months prior to his arrival, but he certainly has a point.

While the injury situation last season did handicap Postecoglou, the fact remains that Spurs got just 78 points from the last 66 PL games under the Australian.

However, Frank is certainly not helping his dwindling popularity among Tottenham fans by making public statements that are perceived as being self-serving.

Thomas Frank reveals why his past experience says Tottenham will be competitive soon - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank remains confident that he is the right man to turn things around and make Tottenham competitive in all competitions.

The Premier League table is not a pretty sight for Spurs fans at the turn of the new year, with the Lilywhites a long way off the European places.

Some experts feel Thomas Frank has to guide Tottenham to a top-six finish to keep his job, and that is now looking increasingly unlikely.

Reports suggest Spurs are already looking at potential Frank replacements, but the 52-year-old does not seem too worried about losing his job.

Thomas Frank says Tottenham situation is not unusual to him

The Spurs head coach has now pointed out that he had a difficult start at his previous two clubs but managed to turn things around.

He is confident that it will be the same case at Tottenham Hotspur, asserting that the Lilywhites will be competitive sooner rather than later.

When asked about the pressure he is coming under, Frank told Football.London: “It’s normal. It’s not the first time in my career I haven’t found the team instantly clicks, but it’s coming over time. I know it will come, probably sooner rather than later.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“At Brondby, I didn’t win the first eight games, and then we were unbeaten in nine. At Brentford, we lost eight out of 10 games and then were unbeaten in 10. So I am convinced we will see a similar pattern here. I’m not in doubt about that, because I know how to make a competitive team.

“We will make a very competitive team here as well. I’m in no doubt of that. To make it even more complex, here is the amount of games we are playing, with rotation and physical load and mental load that just impact a team, especially if it’s not used to doing that week in, week out.”

Frank admits Spurs are struggling to shake off losing habit

The Dane is conscious that he is taking over a team which finished in 17th place and that losing had become a habit to the squad even before he walked through the door.

He suggested that having to contend with Champions League football is also proving difficult for a squad which is not used to playing big matches every few days.

Frank added: “I definitely think there are habits that can go both ways. There are good habits and bad habits, and, of course winning is a good habit and losing is a bad habit, but underneath that is the habit of every staff member, every player.

“How you react when there are setbacks in games is something we are really working very, very hard on. That’s something I also think we have dealt ok with. For example, the Brighton away game maybe the year before we would have lost, but we came back and got a 2-2 draw. That was a good example as was Bodo away.

“So there are bits that are going the right way, but we are not consistent enough to do that every third or fourth day. No matter how much I hate saying it, that’s an ongoing thing we need to work on. Small bits and good habits for every player.”
