Tottenham ready to make Micky van de Ven their highest-paid player

TEAMtalk say that Tottenham are under no danger of losing Van de Ven anytime soon, despite the interest of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, as the Dutchman’s current deal runs until 2029.

However, the North Londoners are ready to accelerate contract talks with the 24-year-old in the New Year in an effort to tie him down for longer.

The outlet reveals that Van de Ven currently earns £90,000 a week, but Spurs are willing to more than double that figure.

MORE SPURS STORIES

They are willing to make the Netherlands international their joint highest-paid player, alongside captain Cristian Romero, who earns £200,000 including bonuses.

Spurs have been in talks with Van de Ven’s camp for many months

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham’s CEO Vinai Venkatesham opened talks with the former Wolfsburg man’s camp regarding a new deal back in the summer.

The discussions are now ready to progress at the start of 2026, with the club willing to showcase their ambition by spending big on new signings and tying down their most important players.

The outlet adds that the view among the Tottenham hierarchy is that Van de Ven is a future club captain.

Description

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed whether Tottenham Hotspur target Savinho is likely to leave Manchester City during the January transfer window.

Tottenham tried until summer transfer deadline day to sign Savinho for around £70m, but Man City refused to budge.

Over recent weeks, some sources have indicated that Spurs could try again for Savinho during the January window as the club will miss out on their top target, Antoine Semenyo.

The Brazilian has found starts to come by at the Etihad this season, but has been regularly used as an impact substitute by Pep Guardiola.

Fabrizio Romano reveals if Tottenham target Savinho could leave Man City

Last week, journalist Pete O’Rourke revealed that Man City are likely to be more receptive to offers for Savinho in January than they were last summer.

However, this has been contradicted by Fabrizio Romano, who has claimed that Guardiola’s men would be reluctant to let the 21-year-old leave mid-season.

When asked about the speculation over Savinho’s future, Romano told Men in Blazers YouTube channel: “No, I think it’s more complicated to sign Savinho in January. In the summer, let’s see because we never know. But in January, I don’t think Man City want to change anything in terms of the Savinho situation as they recently signed a new deal with him. So I think they trust him for this season for sure.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

One factor could help Spurs in their Savinho pursuit

Now that the Lilywhites have lost the race for Semenyo, they will be hoping that the Bournemouth winger ends up at the Etihad Stadium – which now looks likely.

This is because reports indicate that Man City could let Savinho or one other attacker leave if they land Semenyo in January.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly decided to change a key policy that the club had for decades under Daniel Levy.

We could learn a lot about the new Spurs leadership during the January transfer window, which will be the club’s first transfer window in almost a quarter of a century with no Levy at the helm.

The Tottenham top brass have certainly talked the talk ahead of the window. It has been widely reported that ENIC want to make some statement signings to signal their ambition.

The club have now made a big decision that will aid them in their efforts to secure top talent.

Tottenham set to push up their wage structure ceiling

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has now revealed that Spurs CEO Vinai Venketesham is discovering that the job on his hands at the North London club is much more challenging than he initially thought.

The Spurs chief is expected to follow a similar blueprint to the one that brought success to him at Arsenal.

It is revealed that the Tottenham leadership have decided to push up the ceiling on their wage structure ahead of the transfer window.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The club have done this to give themselves a better chance of competing for top-end talents, who will demand top dollar to come to N17.

However, Gold points out that Tottenham will still have challenges attracting world-class talent as the club’s current position does not make them an attractive proposition for big players.

Spurs are willing to pay big transfer fees in January

According to some sources, Thomas Frank will be handed a transfer war chest of £150m for January to reinforce his squad.

Description

Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur believe that two of their young guns are good enough to make the left-wing spot their own over the coming years.

No one has managed to nail down the left-wing spot this season at Spurs, with Thomas Frank trying several options in the position since arriving at the club.

Randal Kolo Muani has been given that responsibility over recent weeks, but the Frenchman has certainly not set the world alight.

It has been widely reported that signing a top-class left-winger is one of Spurs’ main priorities in January, but it has now emerged that two young wingers at the club are rated very highly.

Tottenham hopeful about Wilson Odobert and Mikey Moore

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Wilson Odobert is viewed as ‘a strong future candidate’ for the left-wing role by Thomas Frank.

The Frenchman has been in and out of the starting eleven this season and has produced many bright moments.

The 21-year-old was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet as he saw his volley come off the inside of the post.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been focused on two Manchester City players in particular but a third now appears to have caught the club’s attention.

Rumours about Tottenham Hotspur are swirling as the January transfer window fast approaches, and there is a common theme regarding potential new signings.

Spurs have made a fresh approach to sign Savinho from Manchester City, a winger who was previously linked with the club last summer.

The Brazilian is not the only Man City player to have attracted Tottenham’s interest, as Spurs reportedly want to sign Omar Marmoush.

Tottenham are admirers of Oscar Bobb, Savinho, and Marmoush

It seems Spurs are keeping things simple where their scouting is concerned, because a third member of Manchester City’s squad has been identified as a January transfer target.

Oscar Bobb is the latest of their players to be viewed by Tottenham, with the club said to be admirers of the 22-year-old, according to the Daily Mail.

However, Spurs face competition from Borussia Dortmund and Fulham for Bobb, while Crystal Palace could look to sign him if Brennan Johnson refuses a move to the south side of London.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Bobb still lacks Premier League experience

Despite playing for Manchester City’s senior team across more than two seasons, Bobb has still only started a handful of Premier League matches.

The winger has made 15 appearances in all competitions this season, but many of these have been from off the bench.

It is important that Bobb’s transfer fee reflects this lack of match action. Spurs should not have to pay a premium just because he plays for Manchester City.

Thomas Frank sets fan expectations for Tottenham’s January transfer window plans - Spurs Web
Description

With the January transfer window almost upon us, Thomas Frank has moved to set expectations as Tottenham prepare for a period that could shape the direction of their season and beyond.

The January transfer window is set to open in a little over 48 hours, meaning Tottenham Hotspur can get right into strengthening their squad.

Reports have claimed that Spurs are looking to strengthen the left-hand side of their squad, with a left-sided centre-back, a midfielder and a left winger among the list of potential targets.

With the window now closing to opening, Thomas Frank now opened up on the possibility of Tottenham taking big strides in the transfer market.

Thomas Frank on Tottenham’s approach to the January transfer window

Speaking about the challenges of the January market and Tottenham’s long-term thinking, Frank explained why patience and sustainability remain central to the club’s decision-making

When speaking to football.london, he said: “I think there is a few things you need to understand. The January window is the most difficult window. So I understand it is a window.

“Everyone is super excited, speaking about it. It will not stop after the 31st of January. That is the way it is.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“As I said, I cannot highlight enough. We are in the market. We are prepared. We are working, but I also think it is super important, as I said before, every decision I take, or I take together with the other guys in terms of decision-making, is for the future of the club.

“So there is no reason to sign a player if you do not think it is for the future of the club, if it is just helping a little bit the next six months. We need to build something sustainable that can be very strong and powerful. That journey takes time, and that journey needs to take good, clever decisions along the way.

“That is maybe not ‘wow’, but good decisions that can make us more stable and more competitive and then we are from there. So we are there, but we will see what is happening.”

Spurs must spend if they are to improve their squad in january

Indeed, the January window can be difficult to navigate, as the best deals are not always on the table, but that does not mean it is impossible to improve your squad in winter.

We have seen signings like Virgil Van Dijk, Luis Suarez and Aymeric Laporte come into sides in the Premier League in January and quickly make an impact on their squads.

However, those players did not move on cheaply, with Van Dijk commanding £75m, Laporte costing £60m-plus and Suarez joining Liverpool for £22.8m, a significant fee at the time, meaning if Tottenham are to sign players who truly move the needle in January, they will need to be ready to spend heavily.

Description

Cristian Romero runs the risk of being suspended for more than one game following his sending off for Tottenham against Liverpool, and Thomas Frank has now offered clarity ahead of Thursday night.

Tottenham Hotspur fans will see their team take to the pitch once more on Thursday night following their 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace last weekend.

It was a positive result for Thomas Frank, who ended a run of back-to-back defeats in the Premier League and helped Spurs close the gap between themselves and the top five to four points.

The Dane will now be hoping his side can push on from here as they search for consistency on the pitch heading into the new year.

Thomas Frank on Cristian Romero’s availability for Tottenham

Frank gave a positive injury update coming into the encounter against Brentford, confirming that Lucas Bergvall will be available for selection, while Destiny Udogie is back on the training pitch.

Cristian Romero is also set to return following his suspension against Liverpool, although a final verdict is yet to be confirmed.

Speaking about his captain’s availability, Frank told the Tottenham channel that Romero is ready, saying: “No, he is ready for the game tomorrow. It will be decided in early January [the outcome of his suspension].”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Why Romero could serve more time suspended for Spurs

Romero picked up two yellow cards against Liverpool and, according to Premier League rules, he is supposed to miss just the one game.

However, the centre-back’s reaction after being sent off means he could miss further matches depending on the verdict of the Football Association, who charged him for failing to promptly leave the field and for confronting the official after he was shown a red card.

Thomas Frank makes Brennan Johnson statement amid £35m Tottenham sale rumours - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank has now addressed transfer speculation linking Brennan Johnson with a move away from Tottenham in January.

It has been an eventful last few hours for those linked with Tottenham Hotspur, as the possible departure of a high-profile player has made the headlines.

Brennan Johnson, 24, a cult hero following his famous toe poke a few months ago in Bilbao, Spain, is now edging closer to a move away from Spurs in January.

That is according to reports which state that Tottenham and Crystal Palace have agreed a £35m fee for Johnson, with the forward set to have the final say.

Interestingly, for both Spurs and Johnson, the winger’s options are not limited, as six other clubs continue to lurk while expressing interest in poaching the forward, who managed over 20 goal contributions last season.

Thomas Frank has now addressed the latest transfer speculation surrounding the Welshman, who has struggled for game time under the Dane.

Asked about the rumours involving Johnson, Frank addressed the situation when speaking to Football London, saying: “Again, it’s the third time I’ve had that question. I won’t comment on rumours. Brennan has been a top professional. Trained well today and is ready in two days’ time.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

He added: “As I said, Brennan is a very important player for us. Sometimes things change if another player comes in. Unfortunately, Kudos came in for him and played on the right side and has done well. So it’s been a little bit more tricky to get enough starts. He started the season also quite well from the left.

“I think Brennan has a lot of attributes. Very good running in behind, very good scoring goals. That’s a good quality. So some of those key things is fantastic. Also working hard for the team, but you need more than just 11 players. That’s the way it is. I think Brennan has been a top professional, is a top professional, trained well today. He’s ready for two days’ time.”

What Johnson’s potential exit could mean for Spurs

Reports have also claimed that Tottenham have now identified a big-money replacement for Johnson should he depart in the winter.

Spurs had remained in the race for Semenyo for a long time, but pulled out in recent weeks, making Manchester City the favourites to land the Ghana international.

Thomas Frank issues positive injury update on two key Tottenham stars ahead of Brentford - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank has now provided an injury update on the fitness of his Tottenham Hotspur players ahead of their Premier League clash with Brentford on Thursday evening.

Thomas Frank will be aiming to do the double over his former side on Thursday evening when Tottenham Hotspur go visiting the Gtech Stadium.

The last time the two sides met, it was Frank’s side that came out on top after securing a 2-0 victory over Keith Andrews’ side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, thanks to goals from Richarlison and Xavi Simons.

The Dane, however, will be without his Dutch playmaker, who is currently serving a suspension following a red card against Liverpool two gameweeks ago, and will have to rely on the rest of his squad to help secure back-to-back league wins following Spurs’ 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace last time out.

While Xavi Simons is unavailable for this clash, Frank has received a couple of boosts elsewhere on the injury front.

Radu Dragusin and Kota Takai returned against Crystal Palace, and while the latter was named on the bench, it was the former who picked up his first minutes since January 2025.

Cristian Romero is also back and available for selection after serving his one-match ban against Crystal Palace.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, it was not all smooth sailing against the Eagles, as Lucas Bergvall picked up a knock and was forced off. Bergvall joined Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Dominic Solanke and Destiny Udogie on the list of current Spurs absentees last gameweek.

Speaking to the official Tottenham channels, Thomas Frank provided a more positive update on the fitness of his squad and the current injury situation, addressing the availability concerns ahead of the Brentford clash.

He said (Tottenham Official): “No. Everyone should be available [of those from Crystal Palace].”

On Udogie, he said: “He is running out there on the pitch, doing individual sessions, so that’s good.”

On Bergvall, Frank added: “Lucas is OK. I am quite positive he’ll be available, there is a small doubt, but I’m pretty sure he’ll be ok.”

Description

Interest in Brennan Johnson continues to gather pace, with more Premier League clubs now monitoring the Tottenham forward as uncertainty grows around his future in north London.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Brennan Johnson is a man who has been attracting interest over the last couple of weeks, with a host of Premier League clubs expressing interest in signing the wide forward.

We reported earlier today that Crystal Palace have already agreed a deal worth £35m with Tottenham forJohnson, who grabbed the most goals for Spurs last season.

However, it was claimed that while both clubs have reached an agreement, any potential move is entirely up to the Welshman, who has struggled for game time at Tottenham.

Palace are far from the only interested club ahead of the January window. Aston Villa have already made contact about Brennan Johnson, while Bournemouth, Brentford, and Ipswich Town are all also keen.

Everton and Sunderland join race for Tottenham star Brennan Johnson

According to Fabrizio Romano, two other English sides have now joined the race for the Tottenham star, who is set to be available at a significant discount.

Spurs signed Johnson for £47.5m a few summers ago and are now reported to be open to offloading him for £35m, a fee many fans are not best pleased with.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Providing an update on the situation, Romano explained that an agreement is already in place with Crystal Palace, while other clubs have also made contact.

He claims that the agreement in principle between Palace and Tottenham for Johnson is for £33.5m. However, Bournemouth are ready to pay the same fee.

Sunderland and Everton have also joined the race and called in the last 24 hours. Johnson is now set to make a decision, but he is expected to leave in January.

What the growing interest means for Spurs

This now leaves Spurs in the driving seat, given the level of interest in the 24-year-old wide man, and it will be interesting to see how things play out.

Tottenham will remember how Crystal Palace stalled a move for Eze, only to sell him at a higher price when London rivals Arsenal came knocking.
