Clinton Morrison believes that Tottenham’s priority should be very clear in January after news broke regarding a winger’s contract on Monday.

According to reports, Tottenham are keen to make a statement attacking signing in January, with Thomas Frank wanting to bring a top-class wide-forward through the door.

After a big update by David Ornstein on Monday, the Lilywhites have now been handed a massive chance to land one of the brightest attackers across the Premier League.

Ornstein revealed that a £65m release clause in Antoine Semenyo’s contract becomes active in January, and the news comes amidst heavy speculation over recent weeks that the Bournemouth winger is at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist.

Clinton Morrison claims Tottenham need Antoine Semenyo the most

Landing the 25-year-old in January appears a difficult task for Thomas Frank’s men, as it has been reported that Liverpool and Man City are ready to battle Spurs for Semenyo.

Morrison believes that the Lilywhites need the Ghana international much more desperately than either the Reds or the Cityzens.

When asked which club in the Premier League needs Semenyo the most, the former Crystal Palace forward told Sky Sports News (17/11/25 – 18:17): “I think Tottenham need him the most, without a shadow of doubt. I thought he was going to go to Liverpool in the summer with the connection with Richard Hughes [sporting director], obviously going to Liverpool, and being at Bournemouth and knowing Semenyo.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I think that Man City have a lot of options in wide areas and they probably have to lose a few, because he needs to be playing week in, week out.

“Tottenham Hotspur need a wide player like Semenyo. For me, every team needs him, but I think the most when I’m looking at it now, I’m thinking to myself, come January, it will probably be Tottenham that will be looking to pay that money for Semenyo. Man City and Liverpool, those sorts of clubs are interested in him and he’s doing ever so well.

“I just like him. I like him as a player, I like his personality and I like the confidence that he has. I know he missed a penalty previously against Aston Villa, but I can guarantee that when they get another penalty, he’ll take the ball. He’s full of confidence. I think he’s got the world at his feet, and he’s at a good age as well.”

Can Spurs beat their Premier League rivals to Semenyo?

It is not just competition from Man City and Liverpool that Tottenham would have to contend with, with Man United also alleged to be plotting a move for Semenyo in January.

However, out of those three clubs, the biggest threat appears likely to come from the Reds, with reports indicating Liverpool view Semenyo as the heir to Mohammed Salah.

The Lilywhites will thus have their work cut out in convincing the Bournemouth man that a switch to N17 would be the right next step for him.

Description

Tottenham fans remain firm in their belief that the club made the right call when parting ways with a former academy forward, despite his standout numbers this season.

Former Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate Troy Parrott has been in the headlines in recent weeks, especially during this international break.

The forward has been sensational to say the least for his national team, the Republic of Ireland, spearheading their victories over Portugal and Hungary.

Those victories now mean that Ireland are up to second in their World Cup qualifying group and are now set to play in the qualifying play-offs.

Tottenham have been slammed by Tim Sherwood this week for selling Parrott and wasting money on £60m strikers who are not as good as the Irishman.

Tottenham fans discuss Troy Parrot form and 20 G/A season

Troy Parrot has managed 15 goal contributions for his club this season, alongside his five goals for Ireland this week, showing just how good his recent form has been.

Spurs hold a sell-on clause in Parrott’s contract, but Tottenham fans have now opened up on whether the club made a mistake selling him in the first place. Many supporters remain adamant that the right decision was made.

MORE SPURS STORIES

One fan said: “He is improved because he could play every game without the pressure of playing in the Premier League and replacing Kane. He was never getting that chance at Spurs. The best thing for his career was to leave, if he had stayed he would still be on loan somewhere.”

Another stated: “Really? Between him and Kane at that time? You think he will get the opportunity? He is only doing well because he is away from the club. If he stays, he will get nothing but shadow.”

One more opined: “No, he ran his course at Tottenham. But what lessons should be learned from Troy should be giving Dane the opportunities Troy never really got. Especially since unlike Troy, the greatest striker in the world is not blocking his path.”

Another supporter contributed: “When you have the likes of Kane upfront you will not get much time to play, he wanted games so moved on.”

A final stated: “No. Credit to him for turning it around, but he was never going to start at Spurs.”

Spurs striker situation highlighted by Troy Parrott’s season

Parrot has scored more goals than Tottenham strikers combined this season, which is impressive. But he is playing in the Eredivisie, which is not as competitive as the Premier League.

Regardless, there is definitely a big drop in quality in the number nine position for Tottenham. Since Kane’s departure, no one has really matched the output and quality of the Englishman.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are set to trigger an option to extend a senior player’s contract by one year if they cannot find a buyer for him in January.

The January window is nearly a month and a half away, but speculation is already intensifying about the potential business the Lilywhites could do.

While most reports have talked about the priority positions Tottenham want to strengthen in January, there is also one player the North London club would be looking to offload.

Yves Bissouma’s proposed move to Galatasaray and Fenerbahce fell through due to his fitness issues in the summer, and Tottenham may face a similar complication in selling the player in January.

Tottenham could extend Yves Bissouma’s contract by one year

The Mali international’s current deal runs out next summer, but selling him in January may be difficult as Bissouma suffered a serious injury last month and has undergone surgery.

Interestingly, The Daily Mail have now revealed that the midfielder’s contract contains a one-year extension option. The option can be triggered by Tottenham Hotspur without the permission of the former Brighton man.

It is revealed that Thomas Frank’s men will try to find a buyer for Bissouma in January, but if they fail to do so, they are expected to trigger the option, which will extend his deal until 2027.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Bissouma is of interest to two European clubs

It was reported last week that Galatasaray are set to reignite their interest in Bissouma in January after deciding against signing him in the summer.

According to some sources, the Tottenham midfielder is also one of the names on Juventus’ wishlist as the Bianconeri look to strengthen their midfield.

However, the big question is regarding Bissouma’s fitness, and it remains to be seen if those clubs will take a punt on the midfielder does not recover from his injury by January.

Description

Troy Parrott has said something interesting about his experience at Tottenham after reaching a career high with a hat-trick against Hungary.

The Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate has almost single-handedly fired the Republic of Ireland into the World Cup playoffs during the current international break.

Parrott scored a brace against Portugal to help Ireland win 2-0 in Dublin last week, and the former Spurs man followed that up with a hat-trick at Budapest as the Irish completed a dramatic 3-2 turnaround against Hungary.

The 23-year-old has also made a brilliant start to the season at club level, scoring 13 in 14 matches for AZ Alkmaar, with the centre-forward finally showing why many thought so highly of him at Hotspur Way.

Troy Parrott admits Tottenham failure made him stronger

The striker has not had an easy journey to the top, struggling to get game time at Tottenham and having some difficult spells out on loan in the Championship.

Parrott has now admitted that those experiences in North London have made him mentally stronger and suggested that he now finally feels ‘appreciated’.

The AZ striker said following his hat-trick against Hungary (via BBC Sport): “Part of the celebrations last night was that up to this point in my career it hasn’t been so easy. I’ve had to take risks in moving to different places. I’ve failed, got back up. Failed again and then got back up. Who is to say I’m not going to fail again?

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I feel the tough road I have had definitely played a part in last night. Moving to the Netherlands gave me a sense of being wanted, I felt appreciated and sometimes for a player, that’s all they need.

“I know playing in England didn’t go so well, and believe me, I really beat myself about it at the time. So when it came to thinking about moving away, I thought: ‘What is the worst that can happen?’ And I really love it, I feel appreciated, I feel out of the spotlight, which I never had for a few years.”

Parrott admits he had tears of joy

The striker’s goals have put him firmly in the limelight, with some Premier League clubs now thought to be exploring a move for him in January.

However, his club future is the last thing on Parrott’s mind at the moment, with the former Spurs man admitting that he is still basking in the glow of what he and his Ireland teammates achieved.

He added: “How many times have I watched it back? Probably about 500 times – every time I go on to my phone, it’s there. Even last night when I got to bed, I couldn’t sleep, imagining it over and over and over again.

“In general, I’m not really an emotional person; it’s the first time I’ve cried in years. Look, I can sit here and try to describe it, but it is the first time I’ve felt something like that.

“I’ve scored goals before, but none as meaningful as my last one against Hungary. As a country, we’ve had a lot of disappointing results and haven’t given the fans a lot to cheer about, so this was tears of joy.”

Description

Tottenham are yet to see the best of Xavi Simons this season, but his latest outing in a different role for the Netherlands hints at something Spurs may need to look at more closely.

The international break will soon come to an end, after which focus will shift fully to club football in the next few months.

Tottenham Hotspur are yet to hit full gear under Thomas Frank, and the Spurs boss will be hoping for much better when his players return from international duty.

Tottenham players have been involved in several international fixtures already. Xavi Simons, who has struggled in a Spurs shirt, has equally been involved for the Netherlands, and he put in a top performance in his latest outing.

Xavi Simons stats and midfield role with the Netherlands

The Dutchman saw his national side come up against Lithuania on Monday night, and he was one of the stars of the show in a game where he looked far more assured than he has in recent outings for Tottenham.

He was used in the centre midfield position in a 4-2-3-1 formation, playing as one of the eights alongside Tijani Reijnders, and the role seemed to suit him as he found more freedom to link play and arrive in good areas.

Simons put in a top performance, scoring a goal and earning an 8.0 rating from FotMob, having played 78 minutes of football.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Not only did he score, but his overall play was good, and the numbers below capture the level of his display.

Tottenham expectations for Xavi Simons ahead of return

Putting in such a top display before returning to Tottenham will do Simons’ confidence a lot of good as he prepares to rejoin a squad that needs greater consistency in the middle of the park.

The Dutchman has struggled in a Tottenham shirt, with good games hard to pinpoint since he joined Spurs in the summer, and although he has had to adapt, the season is about to reach the halfway point, so the pressure to lift his performances will only increase.

A new update has revealed the fee that Atalanta would want to consider selling Tottenham target Ademola Lookman in January.

It is well known that the Atalanta star was the subject of late interest from Tottenham in the summer, with Fabio Paratici pushing hard to bring Lookman through the door on deadline day.

It has been reported over recent weeks that Tottenham are ready to reignite their interest in Lookman in January.

According to recent updates, Atletico Madrid could challenge Spurs for the experienced Serie A attacker, who is thought to be seriously considering an exit from Bergamo.

Atalanta’s asking price for Tottenham target Ademola Lookman revealed

The former Everton man’s current contract at the Serie A club runs until 2027, and Football Insider say that Atalanta are thus not under pressure to sell in January.

The outlet confirms that Lookman is one of the names at the top of the Lilywhites shortlist, with Thomas Frank’s men desperate to bring a wide-forward through the door.

The report says that Tottenham Hotspur would have to make an offer of at least £50m to lure away the Nigerian international from Atalanta mid-season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs’ pursuit of Lookman has become more complicated over recent days

Football Insider point out that the 28-year-old appeared certain to leave Atalanta after falling out with former boss Ivan Juric, but the situation has changed following the arrival of Raffaele Palladino.

It is revealed that Palladino wants Lookman to stay and foresees an important role for the attacker until the end of the season.

Description

Tottenham and Arsenal meet again this weekend, and we have now attempted to forecast how the North London Derby might unfold.

Tottenham Hotspur are finally back in action after a two-week break on Sunday, and it is a clash against their biggest rivals, Arsenal, up next.

Spurs would be hoping to get back to winning ways in the league following their 2-2 draw against United, but standing in their way is Mikel Arteta’s side, who sit top of the Premier League table.

A victory against the Gunners would be a big statement by new boss Thomas Frank, but recent form points more to an Arsenal win than a Spurs victory.

We have now attempted to predict the North London derby ahead of this weekend’s clash.

Arsenal vs Tottenham score prediction with Tottenham and Spurs key details

Arsenal have definitely been the better side in this fixture in recent years, as they are unbeaten in the last six encounters against Spurs in the Premier League.

Frank has not had the best of relationships with Tottenham fans, who have booed him in two big games already this season against United and Chelsea, but all could well be forgotten with a good result against local rivals Arsenal.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham have an impressive away form this term, having maintained an unbeaten run away from home all season.

However, their record at the Emirates in the Premier League is rather poor, with no Spurs wins in their last ten games. Securing a victory will be a tough ask, and that is why we are predicting a 2-2 draw.

Richarlison and Cristian Romero spark Spurs result

We do expect Arsenal to start this league fixture strongly, but Spurs will grab a goal against the run of play. A Richarlison goal from a brilliant slip through by Mohammed Kudus will be enough to give Tottenham the lead at the midway point of the first half.

The Gunners, however, will respond rather quickly, grabbing an equaliser before the break from a corner with a header from Saliba. Saka will give them a 2-1 lead before the 60-minute mark, with Arsenal then choosing to protect what they have.

Tottenham will draw level with a corner of their own, with club captain Cristian Romero equalising in the final moments with 15 minutes to spare.

Both sides will push for the win, but the North London Derby will ultimately see Spurs keep their unbeaten run on the road, while Arsenal slip up once more in the title race.

Tottenham slammed for wasting money on £60m signings when they already had a gem

Tim Sherwood has taken aim at Tottenham Hotspur for wasting money on new signings instead of providing one of their former players with a fair opportunity.

There have not been too many success stories in recent years which involve the Tottenham Hotspur academy.

However, there have been times when Spurs have been rewarded for showing a little player patience. The finest example is Harry Kane, who went from being loaned out on multiple occasions to becoming the club’s record goalscorer.

Of course, success stories such as these are not always the case, as seen with Troy Parrott, who was sold by Tottenham after making just four senior appearances.

Tim Sherwood blasts Tottenham for selling Troy Parrott

Troy Parrott’s recent displays for the Republic of Ireland have left Spurs fans imagining what could have been if the striker had been given more opportunities in North London.

Among these is the club’s former manager, Tim Sherwood, who has blasted Tottenham for choosing to make big-money signings instead of ever giving Parrott a chance.

He told Sky Sports News: “Unfortunately for Troy, he’s had to leave Tottenham to do that. I’ve got a big question for anyone who decided to let Troy Parrott go…

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I’m not sure he had a fair opportunity to prove himself; he’s had to go to AZ to do that. He’s not just all of a sudden appeared in these last two games for the Republic of Ireland; he’s been banging in goals like you wouldn’t believe in Holland.

“We know it’s an easier platform over there, but he never got the opportunity to show his quality for Tottenham. He never got a fair crack at the whip…

“Tottenham have signed players for 60, 50, 40 million playing in Troy’s position. I can tell you now, they’re not as good as Troy Parrott.

“Tottenham should have saved their money, given this kid an opportunity, and spent it elsewhere…

“That boy, hopefully for his sake, will come back and haunt them. At the moment, he is going the right way about it.”

Spurs offloaded Parrott after a strong goalscoring season

Some might sympathise with Tottenham for letting Parrott leave the club. After all, he failed to impress when he was loaned out to other teams in England, so why should he then be given a chance in the Spurs first team?

However, Parrott bagged 17 goals and five assists during a loan move in the Netherlands, and he could have been offered game time under Ange Postecoglou.

In the end, Spurs decided to collect a small transfer fee instead, a decision which they have likely lived to regret.
