Description

Tottenham Hotspur are keeping an eye on the transfer market, but they could face stiff competition from Manchester United and Chelsea for one of Brazil’s brightest attacking prospects.

Thomas Frank would be hoping his Tottenham Hotspur side can find some attacking rhythm in the next few weeks.

Spurs have had to rely on goals from Micky van de Ven at times, with the Dutchman the club’s leading goal scorer with six goals.

Tottenham forwards have been subpar, with Richarlison, Mathys Tel, and Randal Kolo Muani not contributing with enough goals – the trio has a combined six goals between them.

Tottenham join Man United and Chelsea in Vitor Roque race

Thomas Frank could turn to the January transfer market to strengthen his forward line, with Tottenham linked to a number of strikers, including Harry Kane.

It remains to be seen if the former Spurs man would make a return, but Football Insider have now claimed that a young Brazilian forward is on Tottenham’s radar.

According to the publication, Vitor Roque is a forward who has been attracting attention from across the Premier League.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The 20-year-old has scored 20 goals in 52 appearances for Palmeiras, and Spurs are rumoured to be keeping tabs on him.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast about Spurs and other Premier League clubs’ interest in Roque, journalist Pete O’Rourke said that while the Brazilian struggled to settle at Barcelona, his return to form in Brazil has reignited attention from top clubs.

He explained: “It is an interesting one. Obviously, Roque, when he joined Barcelona from Athletico in Brazil, there was a lot of hype about him, but he really struggled to make an impact for the Catalan giants.

“Then he obviously moved back to Brazil with Palmeiras in February of this year and to be fair to him, the player has rediscovered his best form.

“I think Vitor Roque might be one that might be more in the summer that some clubs might look at. You have also got reported interest from Chelsea and Tottenham in Vitor Roque as well.

“So I think it would be more than just Manchester United who will be interested in him if he does continue his fine form for Palmeiras.”

It has been reported that Palmeiras would only accept a bid of at least £42m for Vitor Roque, amid interest from Tottenham and Chelsea.

Spurs face key decisions on Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani

January could be crucial for Tottenham in the forward line, especially if their current crop of forwards fail to find form.

Spurs are stacked in attack, but it is more quantity than quality. A few decisions would have to be made on the futures of Richarlison and Kolo Muani.

Muani is on loan, and if he fails to impress, then Tottenham might not sign him permanently. Richarlison has not taken his chances in the absence of Dominic Solanke and could be sold.

How Tottenham feel about Thomas Frank behind-the-scenes after fan criticism and booing - Spurs Web
Description

The feelings of the higher-ups at Tottenham Hotspur have now been revealed, after sections of the fanbase voiced growing dissatisfaction with recent performances under Thomas Frank.

Thomas Frank has had some impressive moments at the helm of Tottenham Hotspur since taking charge from Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

The Dane managed to secure four wins from his first five Premier League games, keeping Spurs compact at the back while maintaining pace with some of their league rivals.

However, in recent weeks, the promising start has begun to show cracks, with results turning mixed and the football on display far from inspiring.

Tottenham stance on Thomas Frank revealed amid fan frustration

Spurs fans have not been shy in voicing their displeasure at Thomas Frank’s recent performances.

Boos have echoed around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the club’s last two home games, with Frank and his players jeered at full time against Chelsea, while his decision to substitute Xavi Simons against Manchester United was also met with disapproval from the stands.

The feelings of the higher-ups at Tottenham Hotspur have now been revealed following the frustration of Spurs fans.

MORE SPURS STORIES

According to Football Insider, Tottenham remain confident that Thomas Frank is the right man for the job despite a turbulent run of results in recent weeks.

Rather than contemplating a change of manager, it is believed the club feel that a shift in attacking approach is what is needed to appease fans, as Frank’s pragmatic style has come under increasing scrutiny.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, Pete O’Rourke shed light on the club’s position, explaining that there is no sense of panic within Tottenham despite recent criticism.

He said: “There’s no panic I think from within Tottenham on what’s happening now. They’re still confident that Thomas Frank is the man for them and the fans might just have to be patient because Frank’s still working at the best, probably set up for his own side as well at Tottenham.

“So things could be a lot worse than fifth in the table and still competing in the Champions League. It can’t be that hard to be a Spurs fan right now, surely.”

Why Tottenham fans must be patient with Thomas Frank

Spurs supporters will need to remain patient, but at the same time, Thomas Frank must find a way to improve Tottenham’s attacking play.

The club’s current top scorer is a defender, with Micky van de Ven having found the net six times in all competitions, which highlights the lack of efficiency from those in attacking positions.

While at Brentford, Frank’s side were never short of goals, with Ivan Toney, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa regularly on the scoresheet.

That level of attacking fluidity and ruthlessness is exactly what Tottenham fans are hoping to see develop under his management, especially given it was one of the expectations upon his appointment.

Former Tottenham North London Derby hero reveals why he quit football at 29

Former Tottenham North London Derby hero reveals why he quit football at 29 - Spurs Web
Description

Some Tottenham Hotspur players go on to have long and successful careers, but one former player has revealed that he retired young due to feeling disillusioned with football.

It takes a certain amount of bravery to join one half of North London after previously playing for the other, and this is what David Bentley did when he joined Tottenham Hotspur.

The ex-England international began his career at Arsenal, but joined Spurs in 2008, just two years after his departure.

Bentley spent five years at Tottenham, but much of his time there was spent on loan at various teams in England, as well as a temporary move to FC Rostov.

Spurs released Bentley in 2013 after he returned from a loan move to Blackburn Rovers. The winger was without a club for a year before he finally announced his retirement from football, despite being just 29 years old.

Bentley has now revealed why he made the decision to retire, and it was a result of feelings which began to emerge after Tottenham qualified for the Champions League in 2010.

He told Sky Sports News: “It was a sort of pattern which happened after the ice bucket incident [when Spurs beat Manchester City to qualify for the Champions League].

MORE SPURS STORIES

“It wasn’t that moment. It was just after that season where I sort of found myself out of the team, and then I took some loans that I shouldn’t have took.

“I went to West Ham on loan, I loved it at West Ham under Sam Allardyce. It was a great club, great environment. Kevin Nolan was club captain and I loved it.

“I ended up doing my knee, and I had a defect in my knee, similar to what sort of Ledley [King] has, and my knee wasn’t right.

“I don’t know, just that sort of pattern applied itself and then I just found myself a little bit disillusioned with the game and at that point I just naturally fell into retirement.”

After Bentley retired, he was so disenchanted with football that he couldn’t even bring himself to watch it. However, he has since rediscovered his love for the sport thanks to his son and now works as a TV pundit.

“I didn’t watch football,” Bentley continued. “I was hurt, it broke my heart having to give up the game that I love. I love every, every aspect of football, but for a period, I couldn’t even watch it, and now I can’t get enough of it.

“I’m back in love with the game. My little boy’s playing, and he is the one that sort of rekindled that love for the game and showed me exactly why I fell in love with football.

‘I’m glad and happy to be back loving every minute of it.”

Bentley never lifted silverware at Spurs but his NLD goal will be played for decades

Unfortunately for Bentley, he was signed soon after Tottenham won the League Cup, and so he never experienced a success of his own at the club.

The former Spurs player did come off the bench during the 2009 League Cup final against Manchester United, but he missed a penalty as Tottenham fell to defeat in a shootout.

In total, Bentley made 62 appearances for the Lilywhites across all competitions, registering five goals and 11 assists.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur were unable to offload one midfielder last summer, but Galatasaray are still keen on signing him.

Yves Bissouma has had a difficult few months at Tottenham Hotspur. The 29-year-old was a first-team starter in May when Spurs won the Europa League, but he has failed to find the favour of Thomas Frank.

It looked like Bissouma would move to Turkey in the summer, but a move failed to materialise. More recently, Bissouma has been linked with Juventus, whose general manager used to have a role at Tottenham.

Whether the Malian will play again for Spurs remains to be seen, but he is currently unavailable after having surgery for an injury he picked up during the last international break.

Yves Bissouma could swap Tottenham for Galatasaray next summer

Galatasaray were one of the clubs interested in signing Bissouma in August, but according to The Sun, a transfer did not take place due to a knee issue suffered by the midfielder.

However, the Turkish giants have remained in contact with Bissouma’s camp and are keen to sign him when his Spurs contract expires next summer.

Sources close to Bissouma say there are also several unnamed Premier League clubs who have reached out to his camp.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The player himself wants to play for Tottenham again, but he is not expected back until early next year due to his ongoing ankle injury.

Bissouma is unlikely to wear a Spurs shirt again

Unless Tottenham suffer a major injury crisis in their midfield, it is hard to see Bissouma appearing again before his expected departure next summer.

The former Brighton man was seemingly frozen out by Frank before his injury and he is not stuck for options in the pivot midfield area.

Bissouma will understandably want to get some minutes under his belt so he can build up his fitness, but he is no longer needed at Spurs.

Tottenham fans name their Micky van de Ven price tag amid Real Madrid transfer rumours

Tottenham fans name their Micky van de Ven price tag amid Real Madrid transfer rumours - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans have named their price for Micky van de Ven, as speculation grows over Real Madrid’s reported interest in the Dutch defender.

Micky van de Ven already has a strong claim for Tottenham Hotspur’s player of the season, given his recent performances in a Spurs shirt.

The 24-year-old has been immense for Tottenham so far, showing his quality in both boxes.

Spurs have kept four clean sheets this season, with van de Ven at the heart of each, having featured in every Premier League game.

The defender has also taken his game up another level in attack, scoring six goals already this season, the most of any Tottenham player, following a barren goal spell last campaign.

Real Madrid monitoring Micky van de Ven amid Tottenham price tag talk

Van de Ven’s outstanding performances have naturally caught the attention of Europe’s elite. Real Madrid are understood to be monitoring the Spurs centre-back, with Paris Saint-Germain also keeping tabs on his situation.

Tottenham would be reluctant to lose their standout defender, as reports claim that Spurs have placed a huge price tag on van de Ven following growing interest from abroad.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenhahm supporters have now weighed in, giving their views on what they believe would be a fair valuation for the Dutchman.

On social media platform X, one fan said: “Being our top goal scorer I’ll take 100m.” Another added: “£75m if the club is in another country. £90m if it is a club from England.”

A supporter who felt he was being undervalued commented: “I feel like some of these comments are massively undervaluing him, to be honest. I think you can find other players that have what he has in terms of defensive quality, but then factor in the fact that he’s 6’4 with the amount of pace he’s got (two untrainable assets), I say £100m at minimum.”

The £100m figure was a popular theme, with another Tottenham fan stating: “£80-90m. Do not think it is ridiculous to say £100m even when you look at the likes that have gone for that much.”

A higher valuation was also suggested, as one supporter wrote: “Whoever asked, we’d potentially strengthen a rival because we’re also playing in the Champions League, so no less than £120m, all things considered. He’s not for sale anyway.”

Another fan added: “Question is how many world-class defenders at his age are better than him? He’s easily worth £130-£150m.”

Why Spurs must keep hold of Van de Ven

Given the current market and seeing how much centre-backs have gone for, £100m and above is not an unreasonable figure for van de Ven.

Harry Maguire cost Manchester United £80m to secure him from Leicester City. Manchester City paid £77m for Josko Gvardiol, while Liverpool spent £75m on Virgil van Dijk.

Wesley Fofana joined Chelsea for £70m, while Lucas Hernandez moved from Atletico Madrid to Bayern Munich for £68m, rounding off the list of the five most expensive defenders in football.

Van de Ven could easily break into that list if Tottenham were ever to sell him.

However, if Spurs are serious about returning to the top table of English football, they must keep hold of their best players, and van de Ven certainly falls into that category.

Description

Reports from Italy have claimed that the race for a Tottenham Hotspur target is now heating up ahead of January as his struggles continue at his current club.

It has been widely reported over the past month that Tottenham are keen on adding a striker to their squad in January.

The latest news that Randal Kolo Muani is now facing an extended spell on the sidelines is only likely to strengthen the Lilywhites’ resolve to add firepower to their squad up front.

Regular readers of Spurs Web will be aware that over the last few weeks, a number of outlets have reported that Spurs have launched an enquiry for Jonathan David, who has struggled to make an impression at Juventus since his free transfer in the summer.

Tottenham are involved in a three-horse race for Jonathan David

Over the last couple of weeks, a few Italian publications have said that Spurs face competition from Chelsea for David’s signature.

Now, a new report in TuttoSport has claimed that a three-horse race is developing for the Canadian international after AC Milan expressed an interest in his services.

The newspaper says that Tottenham Hotspur have ‘enquired repeatedly’ about David over recent weeks, but the Rossoneri are ready to challenge the two London clubs for the 26-year-old’s signature.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Milan want to complete a loan deal for the former Lille man in the summer, with the Serie A giants wanting to replace the struggling Santiago Gimenez with the Spurs target.

What is Juventus’ stance on David?

TuttoSport state that David simply is not in the right frame of mind at the moment and is struggling for confidence after missing a lot of chances in recent months.

Despite his struggles, the Bianconeri hierarchy are still said to be confident in the striker’s abilities and are backing him to come good.

However, it is explained that should Juve receive a loan offer with an option to buy David in January, they would seriously consider it.

David Bentley backs new Tottenham leadership to avoid unpopular Daniel Levy mistake

David Bentley backs new Tottenham leadership to avoid unpopular Daniel Levy mistake - Spurs Web
Description

David Bentley believes that Tottenham’s new leadership will do one thing differently in the transfer window compared to what they did under Daniel Levy.

Since Levy’s exit, we have seen numerous reports that ENIC are ready to change Tottenham’s transfer strategy and go after ready-made players.

Several outlets have suggested that Spurs are ready to target elite signings over the next few transfer windows in an effort to close the gap with the best sides in the Premier League.

It was even claimed last month that the new Tottenham leadership are ready to do away with the self-imposed wage cap so that they can go toe-to-toe with other clubs for big-name signings.

David Bentley claims Tottenham will no longer sell their biggest stars

Bentley believes that following the exit of Levy, Tottenham will no longer entertain the prospect of selling any of their key players.

The former Spurs winger is confident that the best players in the Spurs squad will be convinced of the club’s ambition by their hierarchy.

Bentley told Sky Sports News: “With Daniel Levy going and whether he was running the club like a tight ship, from a financial point of view, he’d done an unbelievable job.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Maybe he did get rid of certain players at certain times, which he shouldn’t have done and I think the new ownership or the sort of new management that are in charge are going to showcase over these two windows exactly, and they’ll tell players like van de Ven where we’re taking this football club, so he can take a feeling out of who they sign within them windows will showcase what Tottenham are going to do moving forward. So I think that will make van de Ven’s mind up moving forward.”

Why Bentley’s point about Daniel Levy is unfair

Levy rightly deserves to be criticised for many of his decisions during his tenure as Tottenham chairman, with the 63-year-old making more than his fair share of mistakes.

However, being too willing to sell Tottenham’s stars is not one of them. In fact, it was often due to Levy’s hardline stance and tough negotiating tactics that the biggest European clubs were wary of trying to sign Spurs’ best players.

Tottenham eventually sold the likes of Luka Modric and Harry Kane when they did not have a choice, but it is worth remembering that Levy prevented Modric and Kane from joining Chelsea and Man City, respectively, before they eventually got their big moves.

Tottenham told Everton have overtaken them after discovering missing piece to modern stadium

Tottenham told Everton have overtaken them after discovering missing piece to modern stadium - Spurs Web
Description

The Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, has now made a controversial claim comparing the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Tottenham’s home ground cost over a billion pounds to build, and many frequently refer to Spurs’ stadium as the best in the Premier League.

There have even been suggestions that the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could host the Super Bowl in the near future, which will prove a real shot in the arm, commercially and financially, for the North London club.

In fact, according to some outlets, Spurs are particularly attractive to investors because of the potential of their stadium, but it is no longer the newest big stadium in the Premier League after Everton’s move from Goodison Park in the summer.

Tottenham told their atmosphere does not match Everton’s

Andy Burnham was very impressed by his trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, claiming that Everton have built the first of a new generation of modern stadiums.

The Mayor of Greater Manchester claimed that Everton’s new home is capable of generating a lot more noise than the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Burnham said on The Added Time Podcast: “I think Hill Dickinson is the first of a new generation of modern stadiums, even more so than Spurs, I think, because that kind of noise factor is there, isn’t it?

MORE SPURS STORIES

“You know, the kind of soullessness of some of the modern stadia, I think, has sort of regenerated, but not in a way that, you know, look at West Ham fans, I think they’re feeling, you know, I think they felt pretty envious, didn’t they, when they came to Hill Dickinson recently.”

The atmosphere at Spurs’ home ground has nothing to do with stadium design

Unlike the London Stadium or even the Emirates, fans are much closer to the action at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and we have seen how electric the atmosphere can be in big games when fans find their voice.

However, it is inarguable that the atmosphere for most home games is not up to scratch and, at times, even gets toxic, which was also sometimes the case at White Hart Lane.

That is why Thomas Frank has called on the Tottenham fans to offer better support during matches.

While that comment will not go down well with a lot of Spurs supporters, some will admit that fans can do more to get behind the team and create an intimidating atmosphere.

Tottenham told they have made just as much progress as Premier League rivals in last 6 months

Tottenham told they have made just as much progress as Premier League rivals in last 6 months - Spurs Web
Description

Clinton Morrison has compared the respective progress that Tottenham Hotspur and one of their Premier League rivals have made since last season.

Both Tottenham Hotspur and Man United had awful campaigns domestically last term, with both sides putting all their eggs in the Europa League basket.

It was Spurs who emerged victorious on that night in Bilbao, overcoming the Red Devils 1-0 to seal a spot in the Champions League.

Both teams have blown hot and cold this season, with the Lilywhites in front of Rubem Amorim’s side on goal difference in the Premier League table.

Clinton Morrison says the jury is still out on both Tottenham and Man United

The two sides played out a 2-2 draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in their first meeting since the Europa League final, and there was little to separate their sides.

Clinton Morrison, who is a boyhood Spurs fan, insisted that at the moment, the two sides are neck-and-neck, and we will have to wait until the end of the season to judge if one of the two have pulled ahead of the other.

When asked which of Tottenham and Man United have made more progress since the Europa League final, the former Crystal Palace striker told Sky Sports News: “You would say probably Tottenham have made the most progress because, no, that’s a difficult one. Man United have been okay and have been alright recently.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I’d say both have made the same progress at the moment. I know Tottenham are ahead, and they’ve got a new manager in Thomas Frank. Ruben Amorim, the whole season has been under pressure, but every time he’s been under pressure, they’ve managed to find results, and they’ve gone on a little bit of a run recently.

“I think both teams have made good progress. We’ll have to judge that come the end of the season to see if anyone can win a trophy or where they finish in the league.”

It is unfair to compare Thomas Frank’s predicament with Ruben Amorin’s

The one big difference between the two sides is that, despite winning the Europa League final, Tottenham made a managerial change in the summer while United stuck with their manager.

Amorim already had an opportunity to get his feet in the door and assess Man United’s problems last season, while Frank is still in the early stages of building a team at Tottenham.

Big Ivan Toney update emerges as Tottenham eye move to get around tax bill problem - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have a lot of work to do in order to land Ivan Toney in January after the latest update regarding the striker’s future.

Many pundits believe that Toney is the man to solve Tottenham’s issues up front, amidst the heavy speculation linking the striker with a move to N17.

Last month, Thomas Frank said that he would be happy to work with Toney at Spurs, and over recent weeks, we have seen the transfer rumours intensify.

Several sources suggest that the former Brentford striker may be tempted to join Tottenham to boost his World Cup prospects ahead of next summer.

Tottenham will face plenty of competition for Ivan Toney

It has now been reported by Sky Sports that the race for the 29-year-old’s signature is heating up ahead of January.

It is asserted that several Premier League clubs have now started enquiries about bringing Toney back to England in the upcoming transfer window.

This includes Everton, who are watching the centre-forward’s situation at Al-Ahli closely ahead of January.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, the outlet points out that the main roadblock for Premier League sides in the pursuit of the England international is the high £400,000-plus wages he is currently on in Saudi Arabia.

Spurs eyeing unique formula to tempt Toney

It has been pointed out by some reports that the former Bees star would risk a big tax bill if his lucrative Saudi contract is terminated early.

This includes a recent update by TEAMtalk, who revealed that Tottenham are trying to sign Toney on loan in January to get around the tax problem.

The outlet explained that a loan move is the ‘only viable path’ for the England striker to return to the Premier League in the upcoming transfer window.
