Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are two of several clubs across Europe closely watching an exciting young Ivory Coast international.

Spurs paid £52m to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig in the summer, and the attacking midfielder has had struggles in adapting to Premier League football.

In fact, some pundits have already written off Xavi as a flop, suggesting that he does not have the tools to succeed in English football, but that is not stopping Tottenham Hotspur from eyeing another young Leipzig attacker.

It has now emerged that the Lilywhites are tracking an 18-year-old winger, who only moved to the Red Bull Arena in the summer, but they are not the player’s only admirers.

Tottenham one of several clubs across Europe eyeing Yan Diomande

Yan Diomande arrived at Leipzig from the Spanish side Leganes in a £17.6m deal in the summer, and the teenager has made a bright start to life in Germany.

The pacy wide man has two goals and three assists in nine Bundesliga matches, and according to TBR Football, Tottenham are among his admirers.

The outlet says that Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United have scouted Diomande multiple times ahead of the January window.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Additionally, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have also been alerted to the youngster.

Representatives from many of the clubs were in attendance during Leipzig’s 3-1 win over Stuttgart at the weekend to watch the Ivorian get on the scoresheet.

Spurs will have to break the bank to land Diomande

TBR Football say that Leipzig are aware of the growing interest in the winger and are even prepared to offer him an improved contract, just months after he signed for the club.

The outlet also spoke to journalist Graeme Bailey, who revealed that the winger is valued at around £88m by the German side.

Bailey told TBR about Diomande: “He really is special, I am told Red Bull think he could be their greatest prospect since Erling Haaland. Leipzig say there is no release clause, and already he is being talked about in the £88 million category.

“From what I am hearing from scouts and clubs, there is not a player currently in Europe who has clubs more excited. Could he have a third club in 18 months, come next summer? It’s not beyond the realms of possibility.”

Manchester United consider entering race for £80m Tottenham and Liverpool target - Spurs Web
Description

Manchester United could be about to throw their hat in the ring for a long-standing Tottenham and Liverpool target, but a January deal will be expensive.

One can argue that Antoine Semenyo has been the best attacker on show across the Premier League this season, with the Bournemouth winger hitting new heights this term.

Spurs fans are dreaming of pairing Semenyo and his Ghana teammate, Mohammed Kudus, on either wing, and that is something that Thomas Frank’s side are seemingly keen to make happen.

It has been widely reported that Tottenham may make a move for the Cherries star in January, but another Premier League club are now increasingly more likely to join the race for the 25-year-old.

Man United are considering challenging Tottenham for Antoine Semenyo

We have heard over recent weeks that the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal may battle Spurs for Semenyo, and it turns out that the Lilywhites may now have another Premier League club to worry about.

Journalist Dean Jones has said that the struggles of Benjamin Sesko at Old Trafford have made Man United consider a move for the Bournemouth star in January.

Jones told TEAMtalk: “The performances of Cunha and Mbeumo compared to Sesko so far help us to understand why United have this view that signings from within the Premier League are preferable.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“They very clearly identified Mbeumo and Cunha as having traits and data that were repeatable and consistent. Sesko has not been as good as those two so far and to some extent that was expected.”

“I really do think this is why they continue to look at players like Semenyo, who is consistently good, as well as players like Anderson at Forest. The fact they are at smaller clubs like Cunha and Mbeumo is also important. The problem, of course, is that any signing within the Premier League has its own issues in terms of how much you have to pay.”

Is Semenyo a realistic target for Spurs in January?

Last month, it emerged that Semenyo has an undisclosed release clause in his contract, and that gave some Tottenham fans hope that a deal may be possible.

However, subsequently, some sources suggested that Semenyo’s release clause only becomes active next summer and that Bournemouth are determined not to lose their star man mid-season.

Tottenham receive bad news in race to sign Kobbie Mainoo from Manchester United - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur may have to move fast if they wish to sign Kobbie Mainoo after the latest developments regarding the Man United youngster’s future.

Many outlets have said that Spurs are set to reignite their interest in Mainoo after failing to get a deal over the line for him in the summer.

It has been suggested that Mainoo is keen to leave Old Trafford in search of regular game time, given that a spot in England’s World Cup squad is up for grabs next summer.

Tottenham face plenty of competition from around Europe for the Man United man, and one club appear to have now stolen a march on the Lilywhites

Serie A club pushing to beat Tottenham to Kobbie Mainoo’s signature

According to a new update from TEAMtalk, Napoli are now ‘aggressively pushing’ to land Mainoo on loan in January.

The Serie A side is willing to cover the midfielder’s £45,000-a-week wages in full and insert a purchase option in an effort to tempt United.

The report says that Mianoo’s exit from the Manchester club is thus ‘edging closer to reality’, with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis being persistent in his efforts to land the youngster.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Given the success that Scott McTominay has had at Naples, the Italian club is convinced that another United midfield outcast can achieve similar things at the Diego Maradona Stadium.

What is Man United’s stance on Mainoo?

TEAMtalk say that Rubem Amorim views the 20-year-old as ‘essential depth’ to his midfield and is hesitant to sanction a departure.

However, the outlet explains that United are facing a difficult choice as they could alienate Mainoo by denying him a January transfer, rather than selling him and funding a midfield rebuild.

A senior United source told the publication: “If Kobbie goes, the door swings open for a new arrival – Ruben won’t lose a body without gaining one.”

Thomas Frank has opened up about his start to life as Tottenham boss, reflecting on the differences between managing Spurs and his time at Brentford.

Thomas Frank was long viewed as one of the most promising managers in the Premier League during his time at Brentford.

It always felt like a matter of time before a bigger club came calling, and this summer, the Dane answered Tottenham Hotspur’s call by signing a three-year deal to take charge in north London.

Life at Tottenham has not been entirely smooth sailing for Frank, who has experienced both highs and lows since taking over.

He has certainly improved Tottenham’s league position compared to last season, but inconsistency in performances and results has seen him face his fair share of criticism from sections of the fanbase.

Thomas Frank reflects on life at Tottenham and managing expectations

When asked about his early months in charge, Frank described his Tottenham side as a work in progress and spoke about his journey so far as head coach.

In his words, as quoted by the official Tottenham Hotspur channel, he said: “It is a work in progress.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Speaking on his start to life in north London, he added: “It has been super exciting. A big learning curve. You learn every single day. I think it has been overall fine.

“I think we have done quite well to get the amount of points we have done in the Champions League and Premier League, competing on both fronts. We are far from where I want us to be but we will get there.”

Thomas Frank compares Spurs to Brentford

Frank went on to discuss how his day-to-day experience at Tottenham differs from his time at Brentford, explaining that while the environment is different, much of his approach remains the same.

Thomas continued: “When I walked in here… ‘Is it different (to Brentford)?’ No, it is the same in many ways. A lot is exactly the same, it is just different people, tactics. When I say learning curve, learning about reactions, learning about people.”

He also reflected on how dealing with personalities plays a major part in football management, adding: “We all have egos. If you do not have an ego, we would not be sitting here.

“Some are better managing it themselves. Some need a bit more guidance managing it.”

Finally, Frank highlighted the importance of unity between the players and supporters, praising the atmosphere during recent games and calling for continued togetherness.

On creating a collaborative environment, he said: “It was really rocking. It was great to see and experience. It needs to be a collaborative approach from fans and players.

“The more we can push each other to bring that positive energy the better. We will do everything we can do to perform. That positivity, we need to build on that.”

Tottenham youngster Luca Williams-Barnett has made his mark in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Qatar.

The 17-year-old Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate has had an unbelievable few months, putting his name in the limelight.

Williams-Barnett became the youngest ever player to represent Spurs in the League Cup when he came on for his debut in Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Doncaster Rovers back in September.

Being handed his debut was just reward for the teenager’s impressive showing for Spurs’ U21s, with the attacking midfielder having managed six goals and four assists in 10 matches in Premier League Two this season.

Williams-Barnett scores a brace in the U17 World Cup

The Tottenham youngster is showcasing his class on the international stage, putting his stamp on the FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.

After coming on as a second-half substitute against Venezuela on Tuesday when England suffered a shock 3-0 defeat, the Tottenham man was handed the nod to start against Haiti this evening.

Williams-Barnett played 79 minutes before being replaced by Aston Villa youngster Igor Tyjon, and he scored twice as England ran out 8-1 winners.

MORE SPURS STORIES

His first goal came via a cross from the left wing, which the Spurs youngster tapped home. For his second, he received the ball in a very crowded box and managed to jink past two defenders with some very clever footwork before rolling the ball into the net.

There is a lot of excitement at Tottenham about Luca Williams-Barnett

Spurs handed Williams-Barnett his first professional contract last month, and big things are expected from the teenager in Hotspur Way.

Thomas Frank makes big Dane Scarlett claim amid calls for a rare Tottenham start - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank has given his verdict on Dane Scarlett and his chances of starting games for Tottenham amid huge competition this season.

Tottenham Hotspur are not short of attacking options, with Thomas Frank having several players to call upon in the final third.

Dominic Solanke, Mathys Tel, Randal Kolo Muani, Richarlison and Dane Scarlett are all available to the Dane as Tottenham continue to compete on multiple fronts.

So far this season, Spurs fans have seen glimpses of each of these players, and Thomas Frank has now singled one out as a fantastic finisher, although he is yet to be handed consistent minutes.

Thomas Frank praises Dane Scarlett but admits competition is tough at Tottenham

Speaking about Dane Scarlett, Frank praised the young forward’s finishing ability but also admitted that breaking into the side will not be easy given the current competition for places.

Scarlett has barely featured for Spurs this term, with the 21-year-old only managing 10 minutes of action so far this season, following a cameo off the bench against Copenhagen.

The youngster did impress from the bench, as he won a penalty for Frank’s side, only for Richarlison. One report this week revealed that Frank is now ready to hand Scarlett some more senior minutes at Tottenham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Speaking to Football London, Frank said about Scarlett’s chances of playing: “I think he is a fantastic finisher. His finishing is at a very high level, and probably he needs what every player needs and to play games.

“That is the biggest thing, and right now the competition is tough here. It’s difficult to give him four or five games in a row. It’s not impossible, but it’s difficult. He needs to play games.”

Dane Scarlett could benefit from a Tottenham loan move

While Frank is full of praise for Scarlett, it is clear that the young forward is down the pecking order at Tottenham.

Richarlison, Mathys Tel and Randal Kolo Muani are all ahead of him in the queue, having featured more regularly this season.

At 21, Harry Kane had broken into Spurs’ first team and started carving out a path for himself, but Scarlett is barely getting play time.

If the young Spurs striker continues to find minutes hard to come by in north London, the club might need to consider sending him out on loan during the winter window to aid his development.

Description

Thomas Frank has shared an important update on Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke, as the final international break of the year approaches.

Tottenham Hotspur are still in the middle of an injury crisis, even though a few players have recently made a return to full fitness.

Thomas Frank’s side received a major boost when Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie and Wilson Odobert all featured on Tuesday after being sidelined, and all three made it through the game without any further setbacks.

Spurs, however, still have several absentees, but with the final international break of the year approaching, Frank will be hopeful of having a fully fit squad once club football resumes.

Dominic Solanke is one player who could make a return after the international break, following surgery on his ankle, an injury that has kept him out for most of the season so far.

Thomas Frank had previously suggested that the English forward could be available after the break, but he has now provided a clearer update on the situation.

Speaking to the official Tottenham Hotspur channel about Solanke, Frank explained the club’s plans for his recovery and the importance of getting the timing right.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He said: “The international break will be key. It was clear he was not ready before. We will look after the international break, that was what we aimed for. It is important that we get the timing right.”

Tottenham need Solanke before crunch fixtures

Frank’s call for caution is understandable, as Tottenham will not want to rush Dominic Solanke back only for him to suffer another setback immediately after returning.

However, Tottenham will need all the help they can get once the break is over, as their fixtures will come thick and fast, with several big matches on the horizon.

Description

Thomas Frank has shared what he admires most about Randal Kolo Muani at Tottenham, describing the forward as a very good footballer with qualities that stand out in his system.

Tottenham Hotspur put up one of their finest displays of the season last time out in the Champions League against Copenhagen.

Spurs put four past the Danish outfit, the highest number of goals they have scored in a single match under Frank.

However, consistency has been one of the main issues with this Tottenham side, and that is something Frank will be looking to address as the campaign continues.

Thomas Frank praises Randal Kolo Muani for his link-up play at Tottenham

Spurs have had to deal with several injuries, but one player, Randal Kolo Muani, has been making a slow yet steady return to full fitness, and Thomas Frank is clearly pleased with him.

Speaking to Football London ahead of the clash against Manchester United, Frank provided an update on Muani’s fitness and explained what he likes most about his game.

He said: “[He needs] sharpness because fitness-wise he is fit to start and play, but to do it at the highest possible intensity throughout the 90 mins, I don’t think he is there yet. But I think it was a very promising game against Copenhagen, and I think he is on the right track.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I think he has a little bit, Solanke is also good to run in behind, but that pace to go on outside. I like his combination play, link-up play and I just think he’s a good player.”

Randal Kolo Muani’s time at Tottenham so far and Frank’s options

Muani has featured just seven times for Tottenham this season, accumulating 276 minutes in total.

Against Copenhagen, Spurs supporters finally saw glimpses of the Frenchman’s quality, with Muani leading from the front through his pressing and movement in attack.

It was that same intensity that saw him close down Copenhagen’s goalkeeper, allowing him to register an assist for Wilson Odobert’s goal.

Description

Tottenham are set for a crucial clash against Manchester United this weekend, and Thomas Frank has hinted that one of his brightest young stars is only just getting started.

Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up to welcome Manchester United to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend, as they prepare for their final match before the last international break of the year.

Spurs will be hoping to secure another win before the pause, having ended their two-year run of failing to win games heading into international breaks, with a 2-1 victory over Leeds United back in October.

Frank will also be looking for a similar display from his side that impressed in midweek, when they swept aside Danish champions Copenhagen with a convincing 4-0 victory.

Thomas Frank praises Xavi Simons performance for Tottenham

Amongst the standout performers on Tuesday night was Xavi Simons, who was named player of the match after delivering his most complete display since completing his move to north London.

Thomas Frank has backed the Dutchman to build on that showing, suggesting there is even more to come from the midfielder, whose confidence will undoubtedly be lifted after that performance.

Speaking to the official Tottenham Hotspur channel, Frank praised Simons’ growing confidence and explained why it could help him reach the next level.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He said, “I think every player needs confidence. When you go to a new club, it is not always that easy to hit the ground running. But the more confidence you get, the better you play. I thought he had a good performance. It is a good step, but there is more to come from him.”

Xavi Simons shows his quality ahead of Manchester United

Simons definitely silenced his critics with that Champions League display, where he grabbed the assist for Tottenham’s opening goal.

Spurs supporters believe that the Dutchman, who featured for a little over 60 minutes, was every bit as effective as anyone else on the pitch.

Description

Thomas Frank has now provided a fitness update on Mohammed Kudus and his Tottenham Hotspur squad ahead of their Premier League fixture against Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur got back to winning ways on Tuesday following their emphatic 4-0 win over Copenhagen in the Champions League.

It was a convincing display at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a ground where they have often struggled since moving into it, although those difficulties appear to be limited to domestic competitions as their European form remains near flawless at home.

However, on Saturday, attention turns back to league duties, with Manchester United set to lock horns with Spurs for the first time this season.

Both sides met four times last term, and Tottenham came out on top in every encounter, adding an extra layer of intrigue to this weekend’s fixture.

Thomas Frank will be keen to extend Tottenham’s impressive run of victories against Manchester United, while Ruben Amorim will be desperate to bounce back after his side’s defeat in Bilbao, Spain, during the Europa League final.

Both managers have injury concerns to navigate, but Frank’s list is far longer than Amorim’s, who only has Lisandro Martinez unavailable for selection.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham, on the other hand, are without at least nine first-team players as they continue their recovery towards full fitness.

Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Kota Takai, Yves Bissouma, Radu Dragusin, Archie Gray, Dominic Solanke and Ben Davies all remain sidelined.

Solanke is expected to return after the international break, while Gray is also nearing a comeback following the pause.

Mohammed Kudus did pick up a knock ahead of Tottenham’s midweek encounter, but with it not being a serious concern, he could be in contention to feature against Manchester United.
