Tottenham get boost in pursuit of Frankfurt star Hugo Larsson - To The Lane And Back
Description

Tottenham are planning to bolster their midfield unit in the summer.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League form has shown little sign of promise as interim boss Igor Tudor continues to struggle at N17. The Lilywhites are languishing in the bottom half of the table, and fears of relegation have intensified within the fanbase after the 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest last weekend.

Spurs let go of the opportunity to strengthen their squad in the winter transfer window. By signing just Conor Gallagher and Souza, they overlooked the glaring problems in the squad. The most pressing concern within the squad remains the lack of a quality ball-carrier in midfield. For some time now, the North Londoners have struggled to progress the ball from deeper areas and control the tempo of games.

The injury crisis at White Hart Lane has not helped Tudor’s cause either, as the Croat has found it difficult to name a consistent first XI that includes a natural and effective ball-carrier. Thus, it comes as little surprise that Tottenham are already looking to strengthen their midfield in the summer.

Tottenham receive boost in the pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt star

Transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that Eintracht Frankfurt are expected to field offers for Hugo Larsson, with clubs in the Premier League and La Liga having already made approaches to the German outfit for the player.

Hugo Larsson, who was heavily linked with a move to Spurs in 2025, played a key role in Eintracht Frankfurt’s qualification to the Champions League last season. However, he has been a part of the Eintracht Frankfurt side that has disappointed massively this season. The youngster has endured an up-and-down season, with illness affecting his availability.

The Swedish talent has struggled to match his earlier Frankfurt form. He has chipped in with a goal and an assist in 29 appearances. Yet, Larsson, who plays a bit like Rodri, has attracted interest from several Premier League and La Liga clubs.

In a recent interview, he has hinted at leaving the Bundesliga club in the summer and taking the next step in his career. Asked about his future, Larsson told Swedish radio TZ:

“I’m curious to try something new. I’m aware of what’s happening behind the scenes.

“We’ll see if anything concrete comes of it this summer.”

Tottenham could test Frankfurt’s resolve for Larsson

Spurs have struggled all season to control games and create opportunities from the middle of the park. The likes of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski, not participating this season at all due to injuries, have mightily affected Tottenham’s engine room.

There is no denying that Larsson is one of the most exciting young talents in European football right now. Even though he has had an inconsistent campaign, marred by illness and injury issues, the Swede’s potential is high and would improve a team like Tottenham. The 21-year-old can pick out passes from deep, progress the ball, break up opposition’s play and chip in with goals from midfield.

Larsson appears to be a player who will be in high demand in the summer. If Tottenham manage to preserve its top-flight status, they must test Frankfurt’s resolve for their star midfielder.

Tottenham and Aston Villa scouts to watch Serie A GK Elia Caprile

Tottenham are monitoring Cagliari goalkeeper Elia Caprile.

Tottenham Hotspur have sent scouts to watch Cagliari goalkeeper Elia Caprile, according to Transfer News Live on X, with Aston Villa also understood to have had representatives present as both Premier League clubs assess the 24-year-old Italian ahead of a potentially busy summer transfer window.

The scouting mission is the latest indication that Tottenham are taking the goalkeeping position extremely seriously in their summer planning, and represents yet another name now publicly linked with a move to north London alongside PSG’s Lucas Chevalier and the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Guglielmo Vicario’s future amid Inter Milan’s reported interest.

Caprile has established himself as one of the more impressive young goalkeepers in Serie A this season, his performances for Cagliari attracting attention from clubs across Europe. He has kept 6 clean sheets in the league in the ongoing season.

Elia Caprile – Long-term Vicario replacement?

At 24, he fits the profile of a goalkeeper with significant development potential, offering the kind of long-term upside that Tottenham’s new recruitment philosophy under the Lewis family is increasingly targeting. He is technically assured, commands his area with confidence, and has shown the composure under pressure that Premier League football demands from the position.

The competition from Aston Villa adds urgency to any potential move. Villa have their own goalkeeping questions to resolve, with Emiliano Martinez linked with a departure and the club seeking capable long-term options. The presence of two established Premier League clubs scouting the same player simultaneously will not go unnoticed by Cagliari, who will be aware that interest of this nature is likely to drive the price upward as summer approaches.

For Tottenham, the goalkeeping situation has become one of the most pressing issues of their entire rebuild. Vicario’s vulnerability from outside the box, having conceded more long-range goals than any other goalkeeper across Europe’s top five leagues this season, combined with Antonin Kinsky’s catastrophic Champions League debut against Atletico Madrid, has made it abundantly clear that significant investment in the position is not optional. It is essential.

Whether Caprile ultimately emerges as the primary target or one of several options being considered, the scouting visit signals that Tottenham’s recruitment team are casting their net widely and working diligently to find the right solution. Getting the next goalkeeper appointment right could prove one of the single most important decisions of the entire summer rebuild.

Liverpool enter transfer race for Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic

Liverpool enter transfer race for Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic - To The Lane And Back
Description

Liverpool has held internal talks over the signing of a highly-rated Tottenham defender.

Tottenham Hotspur’s uncertain league position is beginning to attract interest in their players from rivals and European clubs.

Spurs’ crisis deepened after the 3-0 home defeat to relegation rivals Nottingham Forest last weekend. They are on a full-on relegation scrap, finding themselves just a point above the drop zone. Should the unthinkable happen and Spurs go down, several players will leave the club to further their careers.

While there are a few that many of Tottenham’s supporters won’t mind seeing off, there is also a group where losing either some or all of them would leave them livid. One of those will certainly be Luka Vuskovic.

Liverpool enter race for Luka Vuskovic

Luka Vuskovic has impressed during his spell at HSV Hamburg, emerging as one of the standout players in the Bundesliga this season. The central defender’s stock has skyrocketed in recent months, and the teenager has shown no signs of slowing down. However, the lanky Croat’s displays have surprisingly gone unnoticed across Europe.

Barcelona have been keeping close tabs on the youngster’s development at HSV Hamburg, with Hansi Flick keen on signing a new centre-back. Bundesliga duo Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also showing interest in the teenage prodigy ahead of the summer transfer window. Now, there is a new entrant in the race for his signature.

According to German outlet Sport BILD (h/t Sport Witness), Liverpool have entered the mix to sign Vuskovic. They have held internal discussions over the Tottenham talent as they view him as a ready-made replacement for Real Madrid-bound Ibrahima Konate.

Konate’s contract at Anfield expires in the summer, and there has been no concrete movement in terms of an extension. As things stand, the Frenchman is heading out of Liverpool on a free transfer, which immediately opens up a starting slot in defence. And the Reds view Vuskovic as the ideal profile to succeed the experienced Konate at the heart of their backline next season, although they face competition from several elite European clubs.

Vuskovic’s stock continues to grow

Vuskovic’s suitors across the continent, including Liverpool, will hope he will be open to a permanent move should Tottenham be relegated. His market value is already around €60m, and is the second-most valuable player at the club, as the Merseysiders look to test Tottenham’s resolve. That figure could rise if the 19-year-old impresses at this summer’s World Cup.

Speculation regarding the Split-born starlet’s future remains intense, but the centre-back has started his focus remains on finishing the season with Hamburg strongly. Liverpool are quietly manoeuvring behind the scenes, and their strong financial position gives them an advantage over the likes of Barcelona and Bayern to sign Vuskovic.

However, unless and until the season concludes, Tottenham are highly unlikely to make any decision on the future of Vuskovic. One thing is for sure- the Hotspur Way chiefs will face an uphill task to keep hold of the highly-rated Croatian international.

Tottenham are looking likely to part ways with interim boss Igor Tudor over the international break, but who replaces him?

Tottenham Hotspur are still assessing their options with regard to Igor Tudor’s role as interim head coach at the club, four days on from the embarrassing 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

The appointment of Igor Tudor is yet to yield a ‘managerial bounce’, with Spurs managing just one point from five league games under his tutelage. Recent reports suggest that the Croatian would leave the club by mutual consent, following the sad passing of his father, Mario, but nothing concrete has yet come out. The ongoing international break gives the N17 chiefs the best opportunity to make a managerial change and save the club from going down.

Another temporary appointment looks likely at this point, with none of the leading full-time managerial candidates, Roberto De Zerbi and Mauricio Pochettino, ready to join the club for the remaining seven games of the season.

Danny Murphy suggests former West Ham and Crystal Palace boss for the Tottenham job

Tudor’s position at White Hart Lane has become untenable following the dire 3-0 home loss to Nottingham Forest. Although Spurs have not yet sacked the 47-year-old, they are actively looking to replace him for the final stretch of games to stop the ship from sinking into the Championship waters.

Now, talkSPORT pundit Danny Murphy thinks his former club should hire survival specialist Sam Allardyce for the interim role.

“Well, right now, the one who screams at me, but he’s not Tottenham, is Sam Allardyce,” Danny Murphy said on talkSPORT.

“He’s the man who knows how to get results, but he’s been out of the game for a while, so it’s probably unrealistic.”

Could Tottenham pivot to Sam Allardyce?

One of the most experienced managers in English football, Sam Allardyce, is the ultimate relegation firefighter. The 71-year-old has previously steered Blackburn Rovers, West Ham, Sunderland, Everton and Crystal Palace to safety in the Premier League, among others.

However, his last two jobs both resulted in relegation from the Premier League, with West Brom and Leeds United, respectively. On top of that, Allardyce has not managed since 2023 and has switched to punditry roles with several media houses, making his potential appointment highly unlikely.

Tudor is clearly not the man to guide the club to safety, as evidenced by his tactics and man-management skills. Whoever comes in now as his replacement has to hit the ground running, as the Lilywhites are running out of games. Fans will hope that the Hotspur Way boss appoints someone with expertise in successfully keeping clubs afloat in the Premier League.

‘Tudor is trying but…’ – Marco Materazzi reveals why he is not convinced Tottenham will avoid relegation - To The Lane And Back
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s survival chances were dented following a 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at home.

Igor Tudor is walking a tightrope after his Tottenham Hotspur side lost 3-0 to Nottingham Forest at home last weekend. It was a relegation six-pointer, and Spurs were tactically outclassed by Vitor Pereira’s Nottingham Forest.

The display and result against Forest wasn’t a one-off, with the North Londoners only managing one point from the 15 available in the Premier League since Igor Tudor replaced Thomas Frank last month. The Croatian tactician has gained a reputation for saving clubs from difficult situations in his career, which is why Tottenham officials turned to him to stabilise their ship.

However, the 47-year-old has failed to get a tune out of the Lilywhites’ squad, winning just once from seven games in all competitions. The Forest defeat is possibly the last time the fans see Tudor in the Spurs dugout. Reports suggest that the club will part ways with him by mutual consent over the international break.

Former Italy international makes admission on Tottenham’s survival chances

Former Italy international Marco Materazzi has now made an admission on Tottenham’s survival chances. He has expressed that Spurs’ relegation rivals are showing much more spirit, fight and desire than they are at the moment.

“It’s not easy to change a club’s history. Tudor is trying, but I don’t know if he can do it. He has time to finish his job, and it’s a good experience because the Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world,” Marco Materazzi told Hajper (h/t Football London).

“I hope they can stay up, but it’s not easy because the teams behind them in the league are running harder than Tottenham right now.”

The player-turned-manager has praised Tudor for his work in Italy, but insists that in a tricky situation like this, it is up to the Tottenham squad to come together and fight for each other on the pitch to get results.

“Igor Tudor did a good job at Juventus but the Premier League and Italian football are totally different. It’s not easy, especially when you are in a bad moment in a season, and right now Tottenham Hotspur are not on top,” he added.

“I don’t know what is going on in the locker room at Tottenham. I don’t know what has happened. Whether they are happy about Tudor or not, when you are in a bad position, you have to be a unit, and then you have to run hard because Tottenham should be one of the best teams in the Premier League.”

Who comes if Tudor is shown the door?

Tottenham now have two-and-a-half weeks before the trip to Sunderland, where they will look to pick up their first Premier League win of 2026. The club officials must make a change at the helm quickly because a potential new manager should get some time to know the players and work with them ahead of the Sunderland game.

It is difficult to understand who will be hired if Tudor is shown the door, but fans will hope the manager that comes in is someone who knows the Premier League well and has been previously involved in relegation battles.

Guglielmo Vicario joins Italy squad three days after undergoing hernia surgery

Guglielmo Vicario does ‘this’ just three days after undergoing hernia surgery - To The Lane And Back
Description

Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario underwent hernia surgery after the Nottingham Forest defeat.

Tottenham Hotspur entered the March international break in the worst possible manner, losing 3-0 to relegation rivals Nottingham Forest at home. It sucked up all the momentum that was built on the back of positive displays against Liverpool and Atletico Madrid.

Before the Nottingham Forest game, Spurs were dealt a big injury setback. As it has often been the case this season, a player or two have dropped out when there have been members of the first-team squad returning from injury problems.

Lucas Bergvall and Destiny Udogie returned to the Spurs squad against Atletico Madrid in the return leg in north London last week after overcoming their injury problems. And a couple of days later, the club officially confirmed that Guglielmo Vicario will undergo hernia operation after the Forest fixture. The Italian international endured a poor outing in goal, conceding three in a chastening Sunday afternoon for Tottenham.

Guglielmo Vicario joins the Italy squad after undergoing hernia surgery

On Monday, Guglielmo Vicario underwent a successful hernia surgery and updated his fans with a message on his Instagram story that read: “See you soon”.

The Tottenham goalkeeper was not selected for the Italy squad for the World Cup play-off after being forced to undergo hernia operation. Italy coach Gennaro Gattuso has called Elia Caprile, Alex Meret and Marco Carnesecchi, as well as captain Gianluigi Donnarumma, for the upcoming World Cup play-off against Northern Ireland. If Italy beat Northern Ireland on March 26, they will face either Wales or Bosnia and Herzegovina away on March 31 in the final.

Now, according to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Vicario has joined up with his Italy teammates at their training camp ahead of the pivotal World Cup play-off campaign.

From London, he took a private flight over to Italy on Wednesday evening and will stay with the Italy squad for the rest of the international break. The 29-year-old has followed Dejan Kulusevski’s lead in dropping in on his international teammates to motivate the squad.

Spurs felt this extended international break would be the right time for Vicario to go under the knife. Tottenham are not in action until April 12 due to their early elimination from the FA Cup. The Lilywhites resume their Premier League duties against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on April 12, so our goalkeeper will get three weeks to rest and recuperate from his surgery.

The Italian custodian is anyway set to miss the games against Sunderland and Brighton. He could be touch-and-go for the away game at Wolves on April 25, depending on his recovery and rehabilitation. In Vicario’s absence, Antonin Kinsky should start between the sticks and try to redeem himself from the horrors against Atletico in Madrid.

Newcastle lead Tottenham in race to sign Lens star Robin Risser

Newcastle lead Tottenham in race to sign Ligue 1 goalkeeper with 10 clean sheets in 27 games - To The Lane And Back
Description

Tottenham are set to battle Newcastle for a highly-rated French goalkeeper.

A new goalkeeper is on the agenda for both Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, with the Premier League duo keeping tabs on RC Lens starlet Robin Risser.

A product of Strasbourg’s academy, Robin Risser, widely regarded as one of the top-performing goalkeepers in Ligue 2 last season, only moved to RC Lens in the summer. The France Under-21 international has enjoyed a breakout season in Ligue 1, playing a pivotal role in RC Lens’ rise as surprise title contenders. Pierre Sage’s side are second in the table, a point behind league leaders Paris Saint-Germain, who have played a game less.

Risser is today one of the standout performers for the French side, keeping 10 clean sheets in 27 league games. He has only conceded 24 goals in the process. With the summer transfer window fast approaching, clubs are circling.

Newcastle United lead Tottenham in Robin Risser race

According to a report from Football Insider, Newcastle United are leading Tottenham in the race to sign Risser from Lens. However, the Ligue 1 side are not in a hurry to sell the 21-year-old, as they are challenging PSG for the title, and as such, they are holding out for a fee of around £34.5million to let him leave.

‘Les Lensois’ are on course to qualify for the Champions League and will hope to retain their top stars in a bid to enjoy a strong run in the continental competition next term. Risser is one of those, but a move to the Premier League might be tempting for the young shot-stopper amid interest from Newcastle and Spurs.

Newcastle hold a clear edge on Spurs in the race to sign Risser, purely because they are more likely to qualify for Europe. The French custodian has been identified as an option to replace Nick Pope, who has lost his starting berth to Aaron Ramsdale lately.

As for Spurs, Guglielmo Vicario is looking to leave the club at the end of the season. He has failed to convince the N17 bosses with his command and reliability, and after three hugely inconsistent campaigns, he is heading for the exit door amid Inter Milan links. Antonin Kinsky, the North Londoners’ No.2, endured a forgettable Champions League debut against Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the last-16 tie in Madrid, making two high-profile errors that led to goals. Like Vicario, Kinsky is seeking an exit, preferably on loan.

Risser isn’t yet ready to replace Vicario as a No.1 but can provide the team with a reliable alternative when needed. Given his age, a deputy role could aid his development before getting him up to speed to challenge for a first XI spot. While the Lens glovesman is certainly an exciting prospect, Tottenham could do with someone experienced and better prepared to handle the demands of the English game. While beating Newcastle to the punch will be great, it will matter for little if we fail to do the due diligence.

Tottenham urged to appoint Roberto De Zerbi, with huge survival bonus on the table

Tottenham urged to appoint Roberto De Zerbi, with huge survival bonus on the table - To The Lane And Back
Description

The manager in question has been heavily linked with the Tottenham job.

Thomas Frank’s tenure at Tottenham Hotspur proved to be short-lived, as he struggled to get the best out of the squad at his disposal this season. Under his guidance, the Lilywhites found themselves stuck in the bottom half of the league table.

Igor Tudor, Frank’s interim successor, has also been unable to make an immediate impact. The Croat arrived at the club in February with the primary objective of stabilising the situation at Hotspur Way and pushing the team up the table. However, he has failed to do so, earning just a point from five Premier League games.

It now appears that the recent defeat against fellow relegation candidates Nottingham Forest could prove to be the final blow for Tudor. The international break gives the Tottenham chiefs the perfect opportunity to make a change, with reports suggesting that they have decided to part ways with Tudor by mutual consent.

Jamie O’Hara urges Tottenham to appoint Roberto De Zerbi now

Transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Tottenham hierarchy are carefully reviewing potential candidates while monitoring results and long-term planning objectives. Among the names under concrete consideration, Roberto De Zerbi has emerged as a leading candidate for a possible appointment from June. Fulham boss Marco Silva is also being discussed by the N17 decision-makers.

In a separate report, there have been discussions about Roberto De Zerbi taking over from Igor Tudor immediately, though the club chiefs have reservations over such a deal. Spurs are in a tough situation now, and with only seven games remaining to salvage their season, it is very difficult to see where their first league win of 2026 is coming from.

For now, De Zerbi looks set to keep his options open until the summer and then decide on his next chapter after leaving Marseille. However, Jamie O’Hara has urged his former club, Tottenham, to convince the Italian tactician to join now by offering him £10m if he keeps the club in the Premier League.

“He would want to come in the summer. But we can’t wait! You’ve got to get him now. Bring him in, give him a £10 million bonus if he keeps Tottenham in the Premier League. And if they go down, give him a break clause. Get him in now, make it happen!” Jamie O’Hara told Sky Sports.

De Zerbi unlikely to take charge of Spurs for the remaining seven games

De Zerbi left his role as Marseille manager in February by mutual consent. So, he is available for work and among the leading candidates to take over from Tudor, with seven league games left for the North Londoners to preserve their Premier League status.

In De Zerbi, Tottenham could get a Premier League-proven manager. The Italian has the pedigree of leading Brighton and Hove Albion to the Europa League for the first time in their history in 2023. The Seagulls were one of the most exciting teams to watch under him, playing a possession-based, attacking brand of football.

However, it is difficult to see De Zerbi return to management before the end of the season, despite emerging links with Spurs. If the Lilywhites manage to save themselves from the dreaded drop, the 46-year-old could then come into serious consideration to become the club’s permanent head coach.

Tottenham ready to let Cristian Romero go after ‘disgraceful’ showing and mounting concerns

Tottenham might be ready to let €50m star go after ‘disgraceful’ showing and mounting concerns - To The Lane And Back
Description

The defender could be heading for the exit door even if Tottenham stays in the Premier League.

The interest in Tottenham Hotspur skipper Cristian Romero is heating up ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 2022 World Cup winner is one of several Tottenham stars expected to be poached by bigger clubs if they go down this summer. Many European bigwigs are keeping close tabs and circling like vultures over the North London club’s valuable assets.

Cristian Romero has been attracting plenty of interest already from the biggest clubs across the continent. The centre-back was repeatedly linked with a move to Atletico Madrid in 2025, with reports suggesting that Diego Simeone was in regular contact with the Tottenham star in an attempt to persuade him to move to Spain. However, he chose to remain at the club and extend his stay in N17 after receiving assurances from the board.

Despite an up-and-down campaign, the Argentina international’s stock has not suffered. He is still wanted by Atletico Madrid, who are planning to make a €50 million offer for him in the summer. Also, recent reports suggest that the club chiefs believe that it would be best for Tottenham and Romero to go their separate ways this summer.

Tottenham ready to let Cristian Romero depart

Romero and Co. were beaten 3-0 by Nottingham Forest at home on Sunday. It was the most important game of the season for Spurs, given the context both teams find themselves in the table, but our players simply didn’t turn up and suffered a chastening afternoon.

The 27-year-old, worth €50m now, labelled the Forest defeat “painful” and pledged to take more responsibility in the final stretch of games after the March international break. However, even if the Lilywhites manage to secure survival, the club’s hierarchy appears increasingly open to cashing in on Romero now.

This is the viewpoint of former Tottenham scout Mick Brown. He feels the club have now reached a point where they feel selling him would be the best possible option amid a growing feeling of a massive squad overhaul.

“Cristian Romero is becoming a real concern for Tottenham,” Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider.

“People can talk about him and his qualities which are clear, and in a good side he can look top-class, but there are issues with his character, which are a problem. He’s liable to blow a fuse, make a silly challenge and get sent off, or go wandering and leave his responsibilities at the back.

“In the game against Forest, I thought he looked lazy and like it was all beneath him, and that’s the last thing you need from your captain in this situation. At one stage, he lost the ball high up the pitch, Forest counter-attacked and he was nowhere to be seen, it was only after the ball had been cleared that he came jogging back. It was a disgrace.

“Tottenham have a choice now, will they be prepared to let him go or not? I would suggest, from what I’ve heard, they’re going to be ready to let him go.

“He’s done very little to aid their situation, he looks like he would rather be elsewhere, and if that is the case, then Tottenham would be better off letting him go.”

Tottenham must offload Romero

Romero has remained in the media spotlight for some time. The defender took a sly dig at the club’s board for failing to bring in reinforcements during the winter transfer window, claiming that the ongoing injury crisis had left the squad stretched midway through the season. Shortly after his tirade on social media, he was shown a straight red card against Manchester United at Old Trafford, resulting in a four-game domestic suspension.

Truth be told, the Argentina star has failed to do the talking on the pitch this season. His ill-discipline has cost Spurs many points, while he has not been available when his team needed him the most. Romero has not led the team by example, and despite signing a new contract last year until 2029, his sale would provide crucial funds for a comprehensive squad rebuild.

Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe rules out iconic manager Ange Postecoglou’s potential return to N17

Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe rules out iconic manager Ange Postecoglou’s potential return to N17 - To The Lane And Back
Description

Ange Postecoglou made history at Tottenham during his two-year stint at N17.

Tottenham created history last season under Ange Postecoglou as the club ended its 17-year wait for a major trophy in spectacular fashion. The Lilywhites defied the odds to win the Europa League by defeating Manchester United in the final in Bilbao. It was a historic achievement that also secured Champions League football for the ongoing season. It is fair to say that Big Ange played a significant role in restoring the club’s pride after a prolonged period of underwhelming performances.

The Australian tactician had promised to deliver a major trophy in his second season at N17, and he stayed true to his word. Big Ange placed full focus on the Europa League midway through last season, effectively writing off the Premier League campaign. The entire club rallied behind the European competition as they aimed to end the North London club’s long-standing trophy drought.

However, fans were left stunned when Spurs announced the departure of Ange Postecoglou just days after the Europa League final. The Lilywhites stated their intention to compete strongly on all fronts this season, something they did not believe was achievable under the Australian manager. As a result, they appointed Thomas Frank as his successor. In hindsight, it is fair to suggest that the North Londoners made a costly mistake by bringing in the Dane last summer.

Ange Postecoglou is not looking to return to Tottenham in the coming days

Thomas Frank’s tenure at N17 proved to be short-lived, as he struggled to get the best out of his players this season. Under his guidance, the Lilywhites found themselves stuck in the bottom half of the league table, hovering just above the relegation zone. He gradually lost the support of the fans, and the players also appeared disillusioned with his tactical approach. Consequently, the club decided to part ways with him just seven months after his first game in charge.

Igor Tudor, his interim successor, has also been unable to make an immediate impact. The Croat arrived at N17 earlier last month following Frank’s dismissal, with the primary objective of stabilising the situation at Hotspur Way and helping the club avoid relegation from the Premier League. However, the 47-year-old has failed to win any of his six league matches in charge of Spurs. It now appears that the recent defeat against fellow relegation candidates Nottingham Forest could prove to be the final blow for Tudor.

Recent reports suggested that Ange Postecoglou could make a sensational return to N17 on an interim basis until the end of the season. The Australian tactician was recently asked whether he would ‘go back to his ex’ if the right opportunity arose. He did not dismiss the idea entirely, offering a response that sparked hope among Spurs supporters of a potential reunion with the manager who ended the club’s trophy drought.

However, Paul O’Keefe has since reported that Big Ange is unlikely to return to Spurs anytime soon and is not among the names being considered if the Lilywhites decide to part ways with Igor Tudor. Taking to X, O’Keefe said,

“I don’t see it (Ange Postecoglou returning) myself.”

Spurs arguably should not have parted ways with Ange Postecoglou in the first place. He understood the essence of the club and what it stood for. The Australian tactician was admired by the fans, and the players were fully committed to his vision. It never seemed logical to dismiss a manager who played such a pivotal role in ending the Lilywhites’ trophy drought and bringing silverware back to the club. He ‘dared to do’ and was ultimately sacked by Daniel Levy as a consequence, leaving the North Londoners struggling to stay afloat in the Premier League now.
