Tottenham attacking sensation Alejo Veliz has opened up about his loan move to Espanyol for the 2024/25 season.

Alejo Veliz’s impressive rise at Rosario Central caught the attention of Tottenham who managed to strike a deal with the Argentine club for his services in the summer of 2023. He spent the first half of the season at the English club but hardly got any first-team action. As a result, they ended up sending him out on loan to Sevilla. While he was expected to rack up a few minutes at the Spanish club, things didn’t work out as expected.

Despite the disappointing loan spell at the Spanish club last time out, Veliz decided to make a return to La Liga. The 20-year-old Argentine striker has joined newly promoted Espanyol on a season-long loan. He is expected to have a significant role at his new club and seems more than ready for the challenge.

Veliz has been handed the number nine shirt and he is eager to make his mark for Espanyol. The striker also revealed that he asked his agents to make the move happen at all costs.

Veliz said to Mundo Deportivo: “Since my agents told me that this possibility existed, I told them to push hard because I wanted to come here.”

The 20-year-old wants to settle in and have a good season away from Spurs.

Before signing for Espanyol, the Argentine youth international had a chat with their manager Manolo González who seemed to be quite excited to have the youngster in his ranks.

Tottenham have issued a warning, stating they will only part ways with Giovani Lo Celso if a compelling offer is made.

The Argentine international has had a lot of success at the international stage in recent years but things haven’t worked out for him at club level. He did play an important part in Argentina’s triumph at Copa America but that is unlikely to help him get regular minutes at Tottenham. The North London club are ready to part ways with the utility man but according to a report from TyC Sports, Spurs have ‘warned’ that they will only sell Giovani Lo Celso if a good offer arrives.

He made the move to Tottenham in the summer of 2019. They forked out a significant fee to sign him on a season-long loan before making the move permanent in 2020. While he was expected to become an integral part of the first team, things haven’t gone according to plan for him at the London club. Lo Celso has struggled to get going and with just a year left on his deal, there has been a lot of talk about his future.

Last season, the 28-year-old was involved in just 24 matches, he racked up less than 600 minutes of first-team football. With his contract expiring, Spurs are ready to cash in on Lo Celso and there is interest from Aston Villa as well as Real Betis. Villa are already home to a few Argentine internationals Emiliano Martínez, Emiliano Buendía and Enzo Barrenechea while Betis is a club where he had a lot of success, even if it was just for a season.

While he is way down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou who is ready to sanction his departure, Spurs have made it quite clear that they will allow Lo Celso to leave only if a good offer arrives on their doorstep. He will only leave London through a sale, a loan move is not an option.

James Maddison has not been the same since returning from his injury last season.

Maddison joined Tottenham from Leicester City last summer for an estimated £40 million, initially made a strong impression.

His performances earned him the Premier League Player of the Month award for August, thanks to a goal and two assists in his first three games.

However, a November ankle injury sidelined him until 2024, affecting his form upon return.

He ended the season with four goals and nine assists in 28 league appearances, a tally that Maddison himself acknowledged fell short of expectations due to difficulties in regaining peak performance post-injury.

As Tottenham prepare for the new season, the former Leicester man has attracted significant attention, with pundit Danny Murphy offering insights into areas where the England international can enhance his game.

Murphy, speaking on talkSPORT, highlighted two crucial aspects where Maddison needs to focus to maximise his impact at Spurs.

Despite Maddison’s clear talent, Murphy believes improving his durability and defensive skills will be vital for his success.

Murphy suggests that Maddison needs to work on his fitness to maintain performance levels throughout matches and improve his defensive responsibilities, especially as a No. 10 in a three-man midfield setup.

Murphy said:

“He is a phenomenal footballer, super intelligent, great balance, can open you up with his passing, can score a goal. Maddison, where he has got to improve to become a Tottenham superstar and actually be the difference in big games, is two things.”

“One is his durability, staying clear of injuries and also coming off in games. Very rarely lasts 90 minutes, Maddison. Maybe it is a physical thing, maybe it’s a mental thing, who knows, but he has got to get better at that.”

“The other thing I would suggest he needs to improve on a little bit is his defensive work, because when you play as a No.10 in a three, you have got to do your defensive work.”

With the addition of promising talents Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray, who have impressed during pre-season, Maddison will face increased competition for his starting position.

As Tottenham gear up for the new season, Maddison is expected to address these areas for improvement to solidify his role as a key player for Spurs.

Jamie Carragher has backed Tottenham to do well in the upcoming season.

According to Carragher’s predictions reported by the Daily Mail, Tottenham are set to secure the final Champions League spot, beating Manchester United to it.

The former Liverpool man predicted the top 4, backing Manchester City to continue their dominance, with Pep Guardiola’s side expected to claim their fifth consecutive Premier League title.

Arsenal, who have closely challenged City in recent seasons, are predicted to finish as runners-up once again.

Liverpool, despite undergoing a managerial transition following Jurgen Klopp’s departure, have been backed to finish third by their former defender.

And Carragher has tipped Tottenham, under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou, to clinch fourth place ahead of Manchester United, who are expected to end the season in fifth.

Tottenham have bolstered their squad significantly over the summer, including a major £65 million signing of striker Dominic Solanke.

They have also strengthened their midfield with the signings of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall.

Additionally, the club has secured Timo Werner on loan for another year and have emerging talents like Mikey Moore poised to play key roles.

They enjoyed a great pre-season and if they can continue playing the same way, they have a good chance of finishing top 4.

Tottenham Hotspur have recently secured a major signing by bringing Dominic Solanke to North London from Bournemouth.

Solanke has signed a six-year contract with Spurs, with an initial deal worth £55 million that could rise to £65 million with bonuses. This makes it a potential record-breaking transfer for both clubs.

This signing is a significant coup for Tottenham, as several other clubs, particularly West Ham United, were also interested in signing the talented English forward.

According to Hammer News, a spokesperson from West Ham confirmed the club’s interest, revealing that the Hammers were eager to add Solanke to their squad.

They were willing to offer him a substantial weekly wage of £115,000 but ultimately couldn’t compete with Tottenham’s offer.

The West Ham spokesperson mentioned that the club’s chairman, David Sullivan, would have loved to sign Solanke. However, they simply didn’t have £65 million to invest in a single player.

This situation underscores the competitive nature of the transfer market and the financial strength Spurs demonstrated to secure its target.

Solanke’s outstanding performance last season, with 21 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions, ranked him as the fourth joint-top scorer in the Premier League, making him a highly coveted player.

For Spurs, adding Solanke is a strategic move to strengthen their attacking options as they aim to build a squad capable of competing for domestic and European titles.

His arrival is expected to significantly enhance the team’s offensive capabilities, and fans eagerly await his impact in the upcoming season.

Tottenham Hotspur are closely monitoring the unfolding situation with Conor Gallagher as his potential move to Atletico Madrid faces complications.

Spurs, along with Arsenal, have shown keen interest in the Chelsea midfielder, whose future has been a hot topic in the summer transfer market.

Last month, Chelsea entered into negotiations with Atletico Madrid and accepted a transfer offer for Gallagher. However, despite the midfielder’s journey to Spain, the deal has yet to be finalized.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Gallagher is currently returning to London, signalling that the transfer has stalled.

Romano reports that while the agreement between Gallagher and Atletico Madrid covered medical examinations and documentation, the final signatures from the Spanish side have not yet been secured. This delay provides an opportunity for other clubs, including Tottenham, to potentially step in.

🚨🔵 EXCLUSIVE: Conor Gallagher, on his way back to London, on private flight now!

Chelsea wanted him to return as Atlético deal still in stand-by. 🛫

All done between Conor/Atléti, medical and documents included… but no final signatures from Atléti.

Gallagher is in the last year of his contract, which ends next June, putting Chelsea in a position where they could lose him for free next summer. The situation is complicated by Chelsea’s interest in Atletico’s Joao Felix, which might revive the negotiations with the Spanish club.

For Tottenham, this uncertainty offers a chance to enhance their midfield. Despite adding Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray recently, Spurs are eager to include Gallagher in their squad.

His industrious style of play and ability to influence games make him an appealing target for manager Ange Postecoglou, who appreciates Gallagher’s on-field contributions.

As the transfer window continues, Tottenham is keeping a close watch on Gallagher’s status and is ready to seize the opportunity to bring the talented midfielder into their fold if the chance arises.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman.

The 28-year-old attacker has been linked with a move away from the Bundesliga club and journalist Steve Kay has revealed that multiple clubs are keen on signing him.

He said (h/t TBR Football): “A good player, he’s struggling for game time at Bayern at the moment, a lot of good players there. There are going to be a lot of clubs after him. I know Spurs are a team looking at him. Interestingly there he’s a part of CAA Base, which a lot of Spurs players are linked to as is Ange Postecoglou.”

The 28-year-old has struggled for regular game time this past season and he will look to move on and join a club where he will be a regular starter. Tottenham could certainly use more quality in the wide areas and Coman would be a superb option for them.

He is at the peak of his powers and he could make an instant impact in the final third. Tottenham need a dynamic attacker like him who is capable of slotting into multiple roles. He will add creativity, flair and technical ability in the final third.

Tottenham need more quality if they want to challenge for trophies in the upcoming campaign. Coman has played for big clubs and he has won major trophies. His winning experience and mentality could be invaluable additions to the Tottenham dressing room as well.

The attacker is represented by the agency CAA base and Tottenham have a great relationship with them. It remains to be seen whether the North London club follow up on their interest with an official proposal to sign the French international winger. They have the resources to get the deal done, and a moved to Tottenham is likely to be attractive for the player as well.

'bit of a gamble': Graeme Souness not convinced about Tottenham transfer decision

Tottenham Hotspur completed a deal to sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth recently.

The 26-year-old striker had a phenomenal campaign with the Cherries last year, scoring 21 goals in all competitions. His performances prompted Tottenham to spend a substantial amount of money on the player.

They will be hoping that Solanke can continue his impressive run form from last season and transform them in the final third. Tottenham missed a quality striker who can lead the line for them and score goals consistently since the departure of Harry Kane. They needed to bring in a quality number nine, and Solanke will be raring to prove himself at a big club.

He has previously failed to make his mark at clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool. The striker will be determined to showcase his qualities at Tottenham now. It is an excellent step up in his career, and he will want to compete for major trophies with them and do well in the European competitions as well.

However, former Premier League star Graeme Souness has now reacted to the transfer and claimed that spending £65 million on him is a bit of a gamble, especially when he is not a prolific goalscorer over a sustained period of time. Even though he scored 19 goals in the league last year, the striker has just 28 Premier League goals in 112 matches throughout his career.

Souness said on talkSPORT: “Hell of a lot money for him, I think. £65 million?

“He has played, I think, 112 games and has got 28 goals. Was it 19 last year? He is not consistently scoring goals in the Premier League.

“I think it’s a bit of a gamble.”

It will be interesting to see if Solanke can replicate his goalscoring form from last season.

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Monaco defender Vanderson this summer.

The North London outfit recently sanctioned the departure of Emerson Royal to AC Milan and they are looking to bring in a quality alternative. It seems that they have identified the 23-year-old Monaco defender as a replacement for the Brazilian.

Vanderson has done quite well in Ligue 1 and he has the quality to thrive in the Premier League as well. Journalist Bruno Andrade has now revealed that Spurs have already ‘opened talks’ with Monaco for the player and the French outfit are now expecting an offer from them.

The reported offer is expected to be in the region of €40 million. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to shell out that kind of money for the Brazilian defender. They already have Pedro Porro and Djed Spence at their disposal. Signing another fullback for €40 million, especially when they need to improve the other areas of their squad would be quite a surprise.

Tottenham will be hoping to push for trophies next season and they will look to qualify for the Champions League as well. They need to plug the gaps in their squad this summer and they should look to invest in a quality central midfielder and a goalscoring winger as well.

There is no doubt that Vanderson is a quality player with immense potential and he could prove to be a superb addition for Tottenham, but they already have enough depth in that position and the resources are better utilised elsewhere.

‘he worked a lot’: Agent opens up on how 25-year-old sealed Tottenham exit this summer

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal completed a move to AC Milan yesterday.

The 25-year-old Brazilian full-back has completed a permanent transfer away from the North London club and his agent Stefano Castagna has revealed that the Brazilian worked a lot and pushed for a move in order to join the Italian club.

“The negotiation was long but, in the end, the white smoke arrived to everyone’s satisfaction. Emerson absolutely wanted the Milan shirt, and he worked a lot, he pushed to come here,” he said to Calciomercato.

“Yes, it was long, but we did it. The negotiation lasted a long time because there are two important clubs in the middle and therefore, they have to do their job.”

It seems that Emerson was desperate to join Milan this summer. He was a backup player for Tottenham last season and he needs to play more often at this stage of his career. Someone of his quality is certainly good enough to start at a high level and he will look to get his career back on track with regular football at the Italian club.

The 25-year-old is versatile enough to operate on both flanks and he could be a key player for Milan in the upcoming seasons.

Tottenham are already well-stocked in the right-back department with Pedro Porro and Djed Spence at their disposal. It is unlikely that they will seek a replacement for the Brazilian international anytime soon. They will probably hope to use the proceeds from his departure to improve their squad this summer.

Tottenham will look to secure Champions League qualification in the upcoming campaign and they need the right players in order to do well next season.
