Manor Solomon to Leeds United transfer latest amid Tottenham twist and £20m decision - Leeds Live
Description

Manor Solomon remains the one player from last season's Premier League promotion-winning team that Leeds United have yet to replace.

The Whites have tried their best to replace Solomon, as the chase for Igor Paixao proved, and missing out on the Brazilian to Marseille means they are still short out wide. Daniel James and Jack Harrison being unavailable for the pre-season friendly against Villarreal at Elland Road exposed their shortcomings.

Solomon, meanwhile, has yet to play for Tottenham Hotspur since returning to his parent club due to a calf injury. LeedsLive have rounded up the latest reporting on his situation;

Farke admission

Daniel Farke mentioned Solomon by name on Saturday when addressing the need for additions in forward areas after the 1-1 draw with Villarreal. "You could tell in the offensive area we need a bit more quality," the Leeds' head coach said. "We know this."

"If you compare our offence now to the Championship offence last season, we have lost a standout player in the second half of the season in Manor Solomon, and we know we need additions in this position.

"We then have a day like today, where Daniel James is an important player but isn't available due to a light injury concern. Jack Harrison wasn't available due to a little adductor injury, then, of course, it's a bit light in the offence.

Frank snub

Thomas Frank failed to mention Solomon when talking up three Tottenham players who could help replace the departing Heung-Min Son going forward. "First and foremost, when a great player is leaving a team, other players have a chance to shine," the Spurs head coach said.

"Brennan Johnson is a player who could play on the left; also, I think Wilson Odobert did well against Arsenal and can play on the left - and Mathys Tel is also a flexible player. I think we have some younger, promising players that hopefully can step up and take over from Sonny in the future."

£20m decision

Tottenham would reportedly accept less than £20million for Solomon this summer - as the winger appears not to be in their plans from now on. The journalist Graeme Bailey has opined on the situation and how Spurs seem set to change their stance on Solomon as pre-season ends and the Premier League campaign comes around.

"They (Tottenham) were willing to let him fight for his place," Bailey told LeedsUnited.News.

"But I think it's going to soon become apparent to Solomon that he's not really part of Tottenham's plans.

"He would probably cost a bit less than £20million."

Archie Gray makes feelings clear on transfer decision as former Leeds United star sends message - Leeds Live
Description

Former Leeds United defender Archie Gray has sent an emotional message to Son Heung-min after the forward confirmed he would be leaving Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Son, 33, said in a press conference that he has made the decision to depart Spurs after ten years in north London. The South Korea international has scored 173 goals and provided 101 assists in 454 appearances for Tottenham following his £22 million move from Bayer Leverkusen in August 2015.

However, Son's time at Spurs is coming to an end. The former Hamburg man, who made his final Tottenham appearance against Newcastle United on Sunday, has agreed to make the £15m switch to LAFC.

And Gray, who has been Son's teammate at Tottenham for the last 12 months, sent a heartwarming message to the forward on Instagram. "Thankyou sonny for everything! Gray said.

"You’ve helped me so much since I came to spurs and being able to share the pitch and train with you everyday was a dream come true but as amazing a footballer you are, your an even better person, who supported everyone of his teammates and staff and lead by example everyday! Thankyou for everything.

"Everyone will miss you," alongside a one eye crying face emoji, white love heart emoji and a goat emoji.

Gray came through the ranks at Leeds and enjoyed a fine breakthrough season in 2023/24, making his debut on the opening weekend against Cardiff City before featuring 44 times in the Championship.

However, Gray couldn't help Leeds back to the Premier League. The Whites ended up losing in the play-off final against Southampton at Wembley, with Gray playing the entire 90 minutes.

He decided to leave Leeds that summer in favour of a £40m move to Tottenham. Brentford were among the other teams interested but Gray had his heart set on a switch to Spurs.

While Tottenham endured a miserable Premier League campaign, it's a decision that has looked to have paid off for Gray as Spurs won the Europa League and therefore booked their place in the Champions League.

Spurs face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup next Wednesday and Gray could be involved for Thomas Frank's side. After that, Tottenham take on Burnley in the Premier League.

Manor Solomon transfer news - Leeds United stance, Tottenham timeline and new message - Leeds Live
Description

Manor Solomon's future continues to generate speculation amid rumours that a return to Leeds United could be on the cards.

Solomon played a key role in helping Leeds secure promotion to the Premier League last season. The 26-year-old scored 10 goals to help the Whites win the Championship, including a late winner to clinch the title on the final day against Plymouth Argyle.

Since that day, Solomon has returned to Tottenham Hotspur following his loan spell and has been in pre-season training for the north London outfit over the last couple of weeks. Despite this, there continue to be rumours about Solomon's future, which could see a return to Leeds in the weeks ahead.

Here, Leeds Live takes a look at the latest surrounding Manor Solomon's future amid rumours of a potential return to Elland Road.

Manor Solomon message

On Thursday, Solomon posted a message on social media amid continued rumours around his future.

The post on his Instagram story featured Solomon wearing a Tottenham kit and being wished a happy birthday by the official Spurs account. Solomon replied to the post with a message to his 300,000 followers.

"Another year [birthday cake emoji]. Thank you for your wishes. A small bump in the road, I will be ready to go again really soon [bicep emoji, football emoji]," wrote Solomon, referencing an injury he has picked up since his return to Spurs.

Leeds stance

LeedsLive understands that Tottenham are expected to assess Solomon during pre-season before a decision is made about the forward's future.

Spurs have a new manager at the helm with Thomas Frank, who will be expected to have a closer look at Solomon's performance and fitness levels before deciding whether or not to include the forward in his plans for next season.

It remains to be seen if Leeds will pursue a deal for Solomon, with a decision likely to be dependent on Tottenham's plans for the forward.

The Whites would certainly welcome the chance to sign the player, but he does want to make a go of it at Spurs.

Tottenham price tag

It was recently reported by TBR Football that Tottenham have set a £20million asking price for Solomon this summer.

The report went on to claim that Leeds would be willing to meet that price tag to sign Solomon on a permanent deal.

"I think there's a very good chance after a couple of games once we get into the start of the season and Solomon sees he’s not first choice at Spurs and involved - I think we could see him at Leeds," said the TBR Football journalist Graeme Bailey.

However, Solomon is also reported to be determined to impress Tottenham during pre-season training, indicating that a decision on the forward's future may not come until the end of the transfer window.

Manor Solomon breaks silence amid Leeds United transfer stance and Tottenham blow

Manor Solomon breaks silence amid Leeds United transfer stance and Tottenham blow - Leeds Live
Description

As questions linger over a possible return to Leeds United, former loan star Manor Solomon has issued his first message since suffering an injury setback at Tottenham Hotspur.

Solomon enjoyed a successful 2024/25 campaign at Daniel Farke's side, scoring ten goals and providing 13 assists to help fire Leeds back into the Premier League. The attacker has since returned to parent club Spurs where he was due a chance to prove himself to new manager Thomas Frank.

But that plan has been put on ice for the time after the player was dealt an injury setback. Missing a friendly vs Reading last weekend, his boss clarified: "Manor has a minor calf injury, unfortunately, nothing big."

Thursday marked Solomon's 26th birthday and Spurs sent the player their well wishes via a post on Instagram. This allowed him to quote the post to his profile with his own message added, thus breaking his silence after the injury.

"Another year [birthday cake emoji] Thank you for your wishes. A small bump in the road, I will be ready to go again really soon [bicep emoji, football emoji]," he announced to his 300k followers.

Frank is still expected to take a proper look at Solomon before any decision is made over his future, leaving Leeds to wait in the wings.

Simultaneously LeedsLive understands that is what the winger wishes to do this pre-season, so he will need to overcome his injury and hit the ground running if he is to break into their established Premier League and Champions League squads.

But, Solomon may see his fate decided by outside factors, namely Spurs needing to comply with the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) plus a desperate need for homegrown players to pad out their Champions League squad.

Both could possible mean that Spurs decide to cash in before the end of the summer window, allowing Leeds and Farke - who remains an admirer - to swoop in and add a player who is already comfortable at Elland Road.

The Whites have already been active in the transfer market as their summer began with the free signing of forward Lukas Nmecha.

They have since added midfielders Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff, plus defenders Gabriel Gudmundsson, Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw to their ranks.

Leeds United discover £50m asking price for striker as Tottenham offer rejection underlines problem

Leeds United discover £50m asking price for striker as Tottenham offer rejection underlines problem - Leeds Live
Description

Leeds United look like they will have to pay a figure in the region of £50m if they are to land Rodrigo Muniz from Fulham this summer. The Whites have identified the Premier League striker as one of their targets ahead of a return to the top flight, with suggestions in some quarters Leeds have already had one offer knocked back as the Cottagers try to keep hold of the player.

Knocking back transfer offers is becoming a habit for Fulham, with the latest reports suggesting Tottenham Hotspur have had a £32m offer turned down by Fulham, who have made it clear they want close to £50m for the striker. The transfer value is aimed at scaring off rival clubs as Fulham aim to keep hold of the player who scored 11 goals last season, adding two assists for his best return so far.

At 24-years-old, there is a belief the Brazilian is only going to improve and has some way to go to reach his ceiling, which makes him such an attractive prospect. It also makes him a valuable asset for Fulham, who appear set to fight to get a significant transfer fee for Muniz.

Fulham boss Marco Silva is eager top keep Muniz, however, the player has still been behind Mexico striker Raul Jimenez in the pecking order and turning down a serious offer beyond the £32m currently on the table will surely prove difficult for someone who at present is a number two, while the player himself will be attracted by the opportunity to be a first choice starter.

Leeds United face Tottenham transfer battle as £21m striker holds out hope

Leeds United face Tottenham transfer battle as £21m striker holds out hope - Leeds Live
Description

Leeds United are in the middle of preparations for the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, with a great deal of care put into how their attack force will line up.

Daniel Farke's side were not only the Championship winners but also its top scorers last term, by a clear 24-goal margin. However, the Premier League is a completely different challenge and without the correct reinforcements a newly-promoted side stands to fail the step up in class.

Already recruited upon the expiry of his contract at Bundesliga side Wolfsburg is centre forward Lukas Nmecha, though there may still be work to be done as last season's third-top scorer for Leeds, Manor Solomon, has officially returned to parent club Tottenham Hotspur following his loan.

Leeds Live analyses the latest headlines around Elland Road regarding the hunt for a striker.

Rodrigo Muniz battle

Leeds now reportedly face competition from top-flight rivals Spurs in an effort to sign the Brazilian striker Rodrigo Muniz from Fulham.

Reports coming out of Brazil last week, said the Whites had seen a £26m offer turned down by the Cottagers. Muniz has been situated in London since summer 2021 and since breaking into the Premier League team has made 97 appearances, scoring 26 times.

Now South American publication Bolavip, via TEAMtalk, would suggest that Spurs have launched a £32m attempt for the striker and have similarly been rejected. Muniz is believed to be a big part of Marco Silva's plans and won't be pried away easily.

Leeds Live says: It would be an ambitious move to steal a striker from a Premier League rival, so if Leeds are targeting Muniz their ambition can be credited. On the player himself, he can certainly become the focal point, the hold-up man of a team, but his record in front of goal could improve slightly. If Spurs are involved though and have Champions League football to offer then Farke and Co. just instantly face an uphill struggle.

Nikola Krstovic hope

Another striker Leeds have been linked with is US Lecce's Nikola Krstovic, though it may not be Elland Road that he desires.

Tutto Mercato report the Montenegrin's preference is to move to Serie A giants AS Roma and currently holds out hope that they will make a move over the summer. The 25-year-old scored 12 in 38 appearances in Italy last season.

For now he is holding off Leeds' advances as a result but it remains to be seen whether Roma will meet Lecce's €25m (£21m) demand. Stadio Olimpico chiefs also consider George Mikautadze of Lyon and Brighton's Evan Ferguson as possible targets.

Manor Solomon transfer latest - Tottenham Hotspur stance and Leeds United statement - Leeds Live
Description

Manor Solomon is now officially no longer a Leeds United player after returning to Tottenham Hotspur following the conclusion of his season-long loan.

He and Joe Rothwell both returned to their parent clubs, the latter going back to Bournemouth, on 1 July, when the 2025/26 season officially started. Junior Firpo also left Leeds upon the expiration of his contract and looks set to return to Real Betis.

All three were key parts of the Championship title-winning team that the Whites must replace this summer. Solomon, though, is someone Leeds have shown interest in signing once again after their promotion.

Here's the latest on the Israel winger as things stand ahead of an interesting summer for the Whites promotion hero...

Tottenham's stance

The expectation is that new Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank will look at the winger during pre-season before deciding whether to keep him in the squad. Solomon would prefer to stay at Spurs, but there remains a possibility that they will still sell this transfer window, just later in the summer.

After signing the Israel international on a free transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk, any fee they receive would boost their compliance with Premier League profitability and sustainability rules. Tottenham also lack homegrown players at the club, meaning registering Solomon for their Champions League campaign could prove problematic.

What Leeds have said

You'd imagine Leeds would jump at the chance to sign Solomon if he becomes available. They thanked him (and Rothwell) on social media and their website upon announcing the conclusion of his loan spell, highlighting his "crucial role in the run-in" last season. The club also acknowledged that he "will be forever etched into Whites' folklore" for securing the title with his last-minute winner against Plymouth Argyle.

Of both players, they said: "The duo will be forever remembered for their influential involvement in helping the Whites return to the Premier League as champions of the second tier."

Their thank you concluded by stating that the club "wish them all the best for the future, safe in the knowledge that they will always be remembered fondly at Elland Road."

What Solomon has said

"No, not yet. Honestly, I really don't know what's going to happen in the summer," he told LeedsLive in an exclusive interview back in May.

“I still have three years left on my contract with Tottenham, so at the moment we really don't know. So far I've been always only focused on the season and what we want to achieve, and still we have an important game to go.

“And I think that after this game [vs Plymouth Argyle on Saturday], then we will start to think about my future. But so far, I've been only focused on the right now.”

Solomon took to social media after Tuesday's announcement, reposting the statement and then a compliation of footage from his time at the club.

What he reposted along with the action spoke volumes about his true feelings toward Leeds, attaching a white love heart emoji while tagging the club's Instagram handle.

Leeds United teen ace set to join Archie Gray at Tottenham Hotspur for 'seven

Leeds United teen ace set to join Archie Gray at Tottenham Hotspur for 'seven-figure transfer fee' - Leeds Live
Description

Premier League newcomers Leeds United look set to lose one of their prized academy assets this summer.

Talented striker Oliver Boast is poised to join Tottenham Hotspur, according to The Athletic. The report states no tribunal will be required because the Whites have negotiated a seven-figure transfer fee with Spurs.

Boast, who turned 16 last month, is behind Harry Gray in the pecking order for a striking berth at youth level. Gray made his senior debut back in April, coming on as a late substitute in the Whites' emphatic 6-0 win over Stoke City as Daniel Farke's men secured automatic promotion.

Boast, a number nine by trade, has elected to move to North London to continue his development rather than compete with Gray for regular time. The teenager made his debut for United's Under-18s last August. His eye-catching performances at club level earned him an England U16s call-up last December where he scored his first goal during that camp. He also featured for the U21s side in April.

Assuming the Boast deal goes through without any late hiccups, it will be the second summer in a row Tottenham have signed one of United's best young players. Spurs triggered a release clause in Archie Gray's contract in 2024 after Farke's team agonisingly missed out on promotion last year, securing the services of the versatile midfielder in a £40m deal, with Joe Rodon heading in the opposite direction.

Manor Solomon's £12m Leeds United reality as Tottenham transfer stance clear

Manor Solomon's £12m Leeds United reality as Tottenham transfer stance clear - Leeds Live
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have Leeds United to thank if they manage to command a decent fee for Manor Solomon this summer transfer window.

The winger wants to stay at Spurs, and new head coach Thomas Frank seems set to assess the player during pre-season. However, it still appears likely that Solomon will move on at some stage.

After controversially signing the Israel international on a free transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk two years ago, Tottenham stand to profit substantially from any significant sale. That would, therefore, boost their compliance with Premier League profitability and sustainability rules either now or in the future.

The football website transfermarkt puts the player's current market value at almost £12million after his impressive season in the Championship. That figure is now back to where it was during his first season in north London.

It was at one stage as high as £17million in the summer of 2021 but fell to £15million by that winter and stayed relatively steady before his move to England, first on loan at Fulham. That value fell for the first time in over two years, months after his move to Spurs.

After dropping to below £13million in March last year, it fell further by the end of May, barely above £11million. It then dwindled further following his loan to Leeds, falling below £10million by September.

The nadir came in late December, declining to £7.7million after making a slow start at Elland Road, scoring just three times with only one assist. However, it began to rebound this year, rising above £10million by the end of March and is now back to circa £12million.

For comparison, that is just below how highly they value Brenden Aaronson (£13million) and Illan Meslier (£14million). Daniel James, Joel Piroe and Pascal Struijk are up at £15million, with only Ethan Ampadu (£17million) and Wilfried Gnonto (£19million) higher.

Tottenham Hotspur striker throws down the gauntlet to Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto

Ex-Tottenham Hotspur striker throws down the gauntlet to Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto - Leeds Live
Description

Former England striker Jermain Defoe has challenged Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto to add more goals to his game. Gnonto was in and out of the Whites starting line-up last season as the Whites sealed a Premier League return.

With Lukas Nmecha joining on a free transfer on July 1 to bolster their attacking options, it will be interesting to see whether Gnonto can nail down a regular starting place in Daniel Farke's team next season. Speaking ahead of Italy Under-21s European Championship quarter-final meeting with Germany last night, ex-West Ham United, Spurs and Sunderland striker Defoe described Gnonto as a "matchwinner" but claimed the 21-year-old should be more clinical in front of goal with the talent he possesses.

Gnonto grabbed nine goals and six assists for the Whites during the 2024/25 season, with Daniel Farke's troops beating Burnley to the title on goal difference after accumulating a century of points. When asked about Gnonto, Defoe told Channel 4: “Definitely a handful. He’s a matchwinner, smart, strong. Willing runner, scored goals. Someone I believe can score more goals.”

Things did not go according to plan for Gnonto in Italy's clash against Germany on Sunday evening. The speedy winger left the pitch in tears after being sent off for two bookable offences in the 80th minute with the score at 1-1. Mattia Zanotti also saw red as the Italians were dumped out of the tournament.

Germany prevailed 3-2 after extra time to set up a last four encounter with France. England take on Netherlands in the other semi-final.
