With a trip to Elland Road in the offing, Tottenham News provides the key information for supporters ahead of the match.

Everything we know as Dominic Solanke provides new Tottenham injury update

Dominic Solanke’s absence has been felt by Tottenham as fans eagerly await his return.

Richarlison had a strong start to the season for Tottenham, but has since entered a slump.

Meanwhile, Solanke netted 16 goals and provided eight assists for the Lilywhites last season. This consistent display is something Tottenham fans have missed as of late.

As a result, most supporters will be counting down the days until he returns to action.

Dominic Solanke confirms successful surgery on ankle injury

Solanke has been sidelined for Tottenham since Spurs’ win over Manchester City with an ankle injury.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs supporters were hopeful that he wouldn’t be away for long. However, Thomas Frank later confirmed Solanke has undergone surgery to aid the recovery process on 29 September.

This came after fans were confused about Solanke’s absence from Tottenham training before their second UEFA Champions League game, where Tottenham would later draw to Bodo/Glimt.

Frank said: “Dom has got that ankle issue that’s been bothering him for a little while so now it’s time to make a minor surgery.

“It’s a small procedure, so that will mean he’s not ready for [Bodo/Glimt]. We will have more news about timeframes after the international break, but I don’t expect it to be long.”

Solanke has since provided an update of his own via his Instagram story on 1 October, where he confirmed the surgery was a success.

He said: “The last few months have been very frustrating as I’ve tried everything possible to try and push through my ankle issue before taking the option of surgery.

“None of this managed to solve the problem, so we had to go ahead with minor surgery, which I underwent this morning. It was all successful, so hopefully I’ll be back on the pitch in the very near future.”

Frank has attempted to fill the void he has left with Mathys Tel and Richarlison, but his clinical nature has been missed. As such, both fans and his teammates will be hoping he returns soon.

How long is Dominic Solanke expected to be out?

Frank was clear that Tottenham would know more about how long Solanke will be sidelined after in international break, which commences on 6 October.

There is no way to know for certain, but most individuals return to their former activities after eight to 12 weeks, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

This would see the striker sidelined until the end of November at the earliest, and may not return until mid-December at worst.

How many games could Dominic Solanke miss?

Solanke is already ruled out for Spurs’ game against Leeds and could be sidelined for up to 15 games if he returns in the middle of December.

This would see him miss key matches against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup and Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal in the Premier League.

He would also be unavailable for several Champions League fixtures, including Spurs’ confrontation against PSG at the Parc des Princes.

While it seems daunting, having a fit and healthy Solanke for the rest of the season could be worth the hassle.

Tottenham to be sold for £5.5bn+ as Lewis family stance shared with Brooklyn Earick bid imminent - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Brooklyn Earick has been heavily linked with a potential takeover at Tottenham in recent days.

The American businessman is showing a strong interest in buying the Lilywhites, with speculation surrounding the club changing hands in the near future refusing to go away.

Earick could make Tottenham one of the world’s richest clubs with his prospective £4.5billion investment, but ENIC and the Lewis family have been reluctant to entertain the idea of a potential sale so far.

The situation is continuing to play out amid Spurs’ opening to the new Premier League season, but events could be about to come to a head imminently.

The Lewis family will only sell Tottenham for over £5.5bn

Earick is preparing a formal bid for Tottenham, which could potentially arrive by the end of this week.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The 41-year-old has assembled a team of backers to help fund his imminent offer, and is pledging a huge investment of £1.2bn into the playing squad in N17.

The Tottenham hierarchy have swatted away any talk of a potential takeover in recent weeks, but it remains to be seen exactly how they will approach the prospect of Earick.

Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that it will take a fee of at least £5.5bn in order to tempt Joe Lewis and Co. into a sale.

“The Lewis’ thinking on this will be ‘make us an offer that we can’t refuse,” King said.

“Obviously, things are in the pipeline somewhere, because I would imagine that one of the criteria would have been that anyone who wanted to buy the club would have wanted (Daniel) Levy out of the door.

“That’s obviously happened, so I would imagine that there could be some movement in the next couple of months, and Tottenham could be sold.

“But it will have to be the right price, and it will have to be a price that makes the Lewis family say ‘that’s it.’

“They aren’t going to let that club go for what is being offered at the moment. It’s got to go up to a minimum of £5.5bn, I would have thought.”

Daniel Levy would profit from Spurs sale

It’s now been almost a month since Daniel Levy departed Tottenham, but he will still have a huge interest in events in the boardroom in N17 in the coming weeks.

The Lilywhites’ former executive chairman still owns a stake of just under 30% in ENIC, who are Spurs’ majority shareholder.

As a result, football finance expert Kieran Maguire has estimated that his shares in Tottenham could be worth around £800million, meaning he would receive a eye-watering pay day if a deal does go through.

Levy can no longer influence things at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but he may be quietly hoping for a sale to go through in the background.

Xavi Simons won’t get what he wants at Tottenham after Lucas Bergvall developments

Description

Xavi Simons may have thought that a Tottenham place was his after his impressive debut against West Ham.

However, after a handful more games, the Netherlands international is realising that it might not be so straightforward.

Simons started as a substitute against Bodo/Glimt, having failed to make an impact in a poor showing against Wolves.

Indeed, Simons’ move to North London may never take off because of what Lucas Bergvall has been doing for the Lilywhites.

Lucas Bergvall to force Xavi Simons out wide at Tottenham

Thomas Frank has fielded Simons on the left on several occasions already this season, and it is something that he may continue to do.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Indeed, supporters and even wannabe Tottenham owner Brookyln Earick have called for Simons to play centrally.

Now, iconic football commentator Ian Darke – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has highlighted why the 22-year-old may have to make do on the left.

“I thought with Bergvall, the moment I saw him in the Tottenham shirt last season, he looked like a good player,” Darke said.

“He’s an eye-catching talent, and he went from strength to strength last season and became an important player for Tottenham.

“So I think he holds on to that shirt, and Simons will probably have to make do with the place on the left side for the time being.”

Is Xavi Simons really a better player in the middle?

Simons frustrated Spurs supporters with his lacklustre display against Wolves, but was that really because of his position?

Yes, there is a strong case for the Dutchman to play centrally, but he could not even do the basics right against Vitor Pereira’s side.

While it is difficult to judge his Tottenham spell just yet, a look at his numbers does support the argument that he should be shifted into the middle.

However, Darke is right because if Bergvall continues to perform and Brennan Johnson continues to flounder, then Simons will have to stay put out wide.

Tottenham’s training ground: Where is it, what’s it called and the history of Hotspur Way

Tottenham’s training ground: Where is it, what’s it called and the history of Hotspur Way - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham’s state-of-the-art training facilities have helped them stand out from rival Premier League clubs.

The construction of Hotspur Way was one way the Lewis family prioritised Tottenham’s sporting success.

It has since become somewhere that has housed Tottenham legends such as Son Heung-min.

But has also been a reason why the Lewis family have struggled to move some Spurs players on, as Tottenham News provides a full rundown of the training facility and its uses.

The transition from Spurs Lodge

Before Hotspur Way came Spurs Lodge, where Tottenham trained for 16 years.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It comes as no surprise that Spurs Lodge was not the Lilywhites’ first home, with it not initially built to house a top-flight team.

The physical demands of football had grown exponentially since Tottenham moved there in 1996, with greater emphasis on rehab, diet and nutrition.

No longer fit for purpose, the North London club decided to construct and move to Hotspur Way in 2012, as the Lilywhites continued their strive towards success.

Hotspur Way

The construction of Tottenham’s state-of-the-art training ground began in 2007 and was ready for the Lilywhites to move in in 2012 at a cost of around £45million.

Hotspur Way is the main training ground for Spurs’ first team squad and their Academy, located approximately seven miles from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Mauricio Pochettino was instrumental in ensuring the training ground expanded its use during his tenure as Tottenham manager.

There are 15 grass pitches across the training ground, including four dedicated to first team training and one and a half outdoor pitches with floodlighting.

The North London club made environmental protection a priority when designing and constructing Hotspur Way, which has continued since its opening.

The training ground has also become a way for the Lilywhites to enhance their wider community, engaging over 2500 people across all age groups since it opened.

What has been said about Hotspur Way?

Hotspur Way garnered a lot of attention from both staff and players when it opened for business over 15 years ago.

Former Tottenham chairman, Levy, stepped down from his position this year, but was partly credited at the time with the development of the training ground.

He said: “The club set out to create a Training Centre that would be sensitive to its environment and extremely sustainable.

“We have delivered over and above expected requirements through extensive planting and ecological enhancements, as well as created a highly efficient building which far exceeds the requirements of building regulations.”

Meanwhile, former Tottenham winger, Aaron Lennon, who was part of the first cohort of players to use Hotspur Way, said: “It really is an incredible place. While with England, I’ve trained at some of the biggest Clubs’ training grounds, and none of them come close to this. I’m walking around here and I can’t believe that this is our workplace.

“This training centre is not only going to improve us as a team, but it will benefit players at every level at the club and everyone who works here. It’s fantastic that the club has made this happen.”

The training ground continues to be a main attraction for Spurs players, with the hope that it can continue to help the club reach new heights.

Mohammed Kudus holds weight of Tottenham expectations on his shoulders as stunning stats emerge

Mohammed Kudus holds weight of Tottenham expectations on his shoulders as stunning stats emerge - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Mohammed Kudus has had a hair-raising start to his Tottenham career, with fans convinced that he’s already back to his best.

Tottenham signed Kudus from West Ham over the summer transfer window for a reported fee of £55million.

Already it looks like money worth spent and there is an argument to be made that Kudus is already Spurs’ best player.

The right winger glides throughout the pitch for the Lilywhites with such ease that it almost seems unnatural, with Kudus already showing levels of consistency at Tottenham not seen during his final season with the Hammers.

The perfect combination of speed, technical skill and precision, but there is reason to suspect that Kudus has been handed more than he’d bargained for when he first put pen to paper at Hotspur Way.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Mohammed Kudus tops Tottenham in creative metric

The versatile winger has carved out an undisputed spot in Thomas Frank’s fluid starting lineup due to his unparalleled creative genius and seamless ability to glide the ball down the right channel.

His creative potential at Tottenham was first realised when he provided two faultless assists to set up a Richarlison double against Burnley in Spurs’ first Premier League game of the season.

The Spurs superstar launched in 10 crosses and five long balls into the area for the hungry Brazilian to gobble up, which is no wonder that, according to Sofascore, the former West Ham man recorded five key passes during the confrontation.

His heroics more than convinced Tottenham fans that he would be their main creative outlet moving forward, but it is safe to say that fans were not aware of just how much the Lilywhites would go on to rely on the Ghanaian international.

Currently at the peak of his powers, Kudus either tops or is second in almost every creative metric for the Lilywhites.

His approach of taking on his man on the right wing, cutting inside and sending a decisive pass into the box has yielded positive results, assisting thrice in the Premier League because of his quick mind and feet.

In all competitions for Tottenham this season, he has created two big chances and has recorded 3.89 dribbles per 90, more than any player in a Spurs shirt thus far.

For reference, Brennan Johnson, who was moved onto the left wing because of Kudus’ arrival, has failed to create a single big chance for Spurs in any competition.

Alarm bells should be sounding when Spurs’ most featured left winger has failed to create a single big chance all season.

Kudus’s tantalising performances from the right wing have not only secured the Lilywhites victory on numerous occasions, but morphed into an unhealthy co-dependency.

Mohammed Kudus is well and truly back

The spectacular winger made shockwaves in the Premier League during his first season with the Hammers, where he netted eight goals and provided nine assists.

His second season was a complete 180-degree turn, where he managed to score just five goals and provide three assists in 32 appearances in the league.

While he has not yet netted for the Lilywhites, Kudus is firing on all cylinders creative wise and has already equalled or surpassed his worst season for West Ham on several fronts.

The reasons behind this change could range from environmental to individual changes, but the biggest has to be the cover behind him.

In a short space of time, Kudus and Pedro Porro have formed a lethal partnership down the right-hand side.

The constant need for the right winger to drive into space complements Porro well, who likes to launch his partners beyond opposition lines.

But more importantly, the Spaniard is also a master of dictating plays from the back and creates for his attackers on a regular basis.

Having a fullback behind him who can find him in favourable positions, but also is competent in defence, means that Kudus is afforded full freedom in attack, knowing that he is covered from the back.

As this partnership continues to build, there is no doubt that what Tottenham fans are seeing right now is only a little taste.

What’s the cost of Mohammed Kudus being back to his best?

Kudus being back to his best makes for a more enjoyable team, but also a more predictable one.

With Xavi Simons most likely reminiscing about his days as a 10 at Leipzig, Johnson, who most would agree should trade his wide boots for some striker ones, and Wilson Odobert, who is young and inexperienced, Spurs are devoid of left-wing options who hold a candle to Kudus’s elite levels of creative output.

This creates a lob-sided attack which can be easily read by defenders. In fact, given Spurs’ problems going forward, it can be argued that the effects of their over-reliance on their star winger are already beginning to show.

Therefore, Kudus carries the weight of Tottenham’s expectations on his shoulders, and harder times await if Frank doesn’t figure out a way to shift it.

Tottenham told to agree new loan for Mikey Moore, Rangers deal to be cancelled ‘as soon as possible’

Tottenham told to agree new loan for Mikey Moore, Rangers deal to be cancelled 'as soon as possible' - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham youngster Mikey Moore has had a difficult start to his loan spell at Rangers in recent weeks.

The winger burst onto the scene in N17 last season, and he ended the campaign with appearances in both the Premier League and Europa League to his name.

Moore is tipped to have a huge future at Tottenham, but they ultimately decided to send him out on loan for the season earlier in the summer.

The 18-year-old is currently enduring a stint with Rangers, but Thomas Frank and Co. will still be paying plenty of attention to the starlet’s fortunes at Ibrox.

Tottenham got Mikey Moore’s Rangers loan wrong from the start

Tottenham will have kept tabs on Moore’s progress at Rangers in recent weeks, and they will not have been pleased with what they have seen so far.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Ibrox outfit are in complete crisis, with Russell Martin’s future coming under greater scrutiny with every passing day at the moment.

Moore has largely been limited to substitute minutes since his move north of the border was confirmed, and he has notched just a solitary assist from his first eight Rangers appearances.

Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that the Lilywhites picked the wrong club for the starlet, and should be trying to recall him at the earliest possible opportunity.

“It was a bad move from day one,” King said.

“If I were Tottenham, I would get him back as soon as possible, and either send him out on loan again, or give him the confidence that he had when he first broke into the team.

“As a young player, you want to be joining a club that’s happy and getting results, and that’s the last thing that Rangers have been doing.

“It isn’t the place to go for a young player like Moore. He is a talent, but talent has to be nurtured, and at the moment, he’s at the wrong football club.”

Moore should be sent to West Brom

Tottenham received interest in Moore from West Brom over the summer, and that would surely provide a more sensible grounding for him in the second half of the season.

The Championship outfit were heavily linked with a move for the wideman after former Lilywhites coach Ryan Mason took the reigns at the Black Country outfit.

Spurs relied on Mason to help develop their young talent for several years, and they would surely be able to trust him to get the best out of Moore and help him to improve effectively.

The Baggies are a much more stable football club than Rangers at the moment, and that extra security could be the perfect ingredient to help the youngster shine and produce his best football once again.

Tottenham could be set for shock Bodo/Glimt transfer raid amid huge Thomas Frank reveal - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham could be about to head back to Bodo/Glimt in the January transfer window after their Champions League tussle on Tuesday night.

The Lilywhites battled back from a two-goal deficit in the second half to snatch a crucial point and avoid an embarrassing defeat inside the Arctic Circle.

Micky van de Ven’s header gave Tottenham hope, before a late own goal from Jostein Gundersen completed the comeback following some heavy pressure.

Thomas Frank could have been forgiven for wanting to erase all memory of the Norwegian side after the major scare that they gave to his team, but he could be set to head back there to pull off a transfer raid after some cryptic post-match comments.

Tottenham could eye Jens Petter Hauge deal in January

Tottenham made hard work of their clash with Bodo/Glimt, as the hosts made life difficult for their visitors and moved the ball with plenty of intensity.

MORE SPURS STORIES

They largely dominated the majority of the 90 minutes and had their Premier League opponents penned into their own third during several passages of play, especially in the first half.

However, their impressive display was topped off by a sprinkling of genuine quality from Jens Petter Hauge, who netted a sumptuous brace for his side.

The winger was electric all evening, but produced two finishes from the very top drawer, which ultimately came within a whisker of earning his team all three points.

Frank was full of praise for the 25-year-old after the game, and even revealed that he previously tried to sign him during his reign at Brentford.

“He (Hauge) was fantastic,” the Spurs boss told Norwegian outlet TV2.

“I actually tried to sign him for Brentford a long time ago, it was good to see him again. I knew he was good and today he was exceptional.”

The Lilywhites’ chief was then quizzed on whether Hauge would be a potential target for his new club this winter, to which Frank replied: “You never know what the future holds.”

Frank understandably chose to keep his cards close to his chest in regards to a move for Hauge, but it would certainly be no surprise, given the impact that he had on the game, and the boss’ failure to rule it out.

Jens Petter Hauge would be an interesting signing for Spurs

Frank and Tottenham are blessed with several exciting options in the wide areas, but Hauge would certainly be an intriguing potential addition for them this winter.

The Norway international came through the youth ranks at Bodo/Glimt, before leaving for AC Milan in 2021.

Spells with Eintracht Frankfurt and Gent followed, before he returned to his homeland in 2023-24.

He notched 22 goal contributions for Bodo/Glimt last term, and already has 15 to his name so far this season, including five from four Champions League games.

His opportunity in the Premier League ultimately didn’t materialise under Frank the first time around, but he may be presented with that chance once again in the near future.

Hauge is now in the prime of his career, and if Tuesday’s evidence is anything to by, then he certainly has the quality to be a useful option in England.

Description

Thomas Frank will be hoping to get back to winning ways at Tottenham against Leeds United.

The Lilywhites’ strong start in the Premier League has stalled slightly since the season commenced.

Joao Palhinha scored the equaliser for Tottenham against Wolves to make it back-to-back draws in the league after Spurs came from behind against Brighton once again.

The North London side will now travel to Elland Road to face Leeds on 4 October, with Frank in desperate need of a win away from home.

Tottenham favourites against Leeds United

The Premier League is not the only competition where Tottenham have struggled to leave with all three points.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham overcame another two-goal deficit against Bodo/Glimt in the second game of the UEFA Champions League. This came after Spurs triumphed in the UEFA Europa League against the Norwegian side to book a place in the final last season.

But things could turn around for the better with Opta’s Supercomputer giving Tottenham a 44.4 per cent chance of victory at Elland Road.

Leeds have a 30.6 per cent chance despite being the home side, and there is a 25 per cent chance the game ends in a draw.

What is Tottenham’s record against Leeds United?

Tottenham have been the better-performing side when it comes to confrontations between the two throughout the years.

The Lilywhites’ recent history against the Whites has been one of pure domination, losing once in their last five games against Daniel Farke’s side.

However, not a single one of these matches was played under Frank, with the two last facing off on 28 May 2023.

Frank’s record against Leeds is not as polished, having won just one of his last five matches against the recently promoted side.

While this may not inspire confidence among Tottenham fans, the Lilywhites are in better form and are currently sitting fourth on the table.

Comparatively, Leeds are 12th, having won, drawn and lost twice in the Premier League this season. As such, Frank may fancy his chances this time around.

Conor Gallagher has been linked with a return to the Premier League, and Tottenham are a name regularly mentioned.

The England international left Chelsea for Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2024, but is in and out of Diego Simone’s team.

Spurs were said to be willing to negotiate immediately for Gallagher under Ange Postecoglou, who would be tempted to return to London.

However, several factors are set to influence any decision to move for Gallagher, and one of them involves Postecoglou.

This article includes exclusive comments from Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Ange Postecoglou was eyeing Conor Gallagher for Tottenham

Spurs would have to pay more than £50million for Gallagher, in what would be an expensive signing for the North London outfit.

Given the hefty fee, the Lilywhites would need to think carefully about whether the 25-year-old would improve Thomas Frank’s team.

Indeed, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – explains why Spurs may not need to pursue the midfielder after changing managers.

“I think he was a player that Postecoglou really wanted,” Wenham said.

“But now I think over the course of this season, we’ll see the real emergence and increased performance and values of Lucas Bergvall and Pape Matar Sarr to the point where next summer we won’t be looking for another midfielder. That’s genuinely what I think.

“I think they’ll improve that much that they’ll be two of the first names on the team sheet, and it’ll be one of Joao Palhinha or Rodrigo Bentancur, with those two. That’s the kind of trajectory they seem to be going on at the moment.”

Conor Gallagher would be a pointless signing for Spurs

Former Brentford manager Martin Allen told Tottenham News that Bergvall has what it takes to become Spurs captain.

Indeed, he and Sarr have developed at such a rapid pace that the North London club may not need to add Gallagher to their ranks.

Both arguably have a higher ceiling than the Englishman, and with Palhinha likely to join on a permanent deal, where would the former Chelsea man fit in?

Furthermore, given that Tottenham would have to pay a substantial fee to land Gallagher, it feels that he would be a needless signing.

In the transfer windows to come, Spurs must focus on their weaker positions, including up front and in goal.

While Gallagher is a solid player, there is enough of an argument to suggest that the Lilywhites do not need him any time soon.
