Mikkel Damsgaard reunion: Three midfielders Tottenham could sign after Nico Paz rejection

Thomas Frank is expecting a new creative midfielder to arrive at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this week.

The Dane is in desperate need of invention in the middle of the pitch, after James Maddison’s absence was compounded by the news that Dejan Kulusevski will not return before the end of the year.

Spurs had looked set to sign Eberechi Eze, before late intervention from Arsenal saw the midfielder move to The Emirates Stadium instead.

Enquiries have been made about Morgan Rogers and Nico Paz, who wants to stay at Como after Spurs failed with an opening £60million bid.

Here, Tottenham News suggests three potential alternatives decision-makers could turn to in the final week of the window.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Charles De Ketelaere – Atalanta

There was huge excitement surrounding Charles De Ketelaere before his £31m move to AC Milan in 2022.

The midfielder had torn up the Belgian first division, but failed to make much of an impression in his first season in Italy.

As a result, Milan sent the Belgian on loan to Atalanta in the following summer, giving their Serie A rivals a £22.5m option to make the move permanent at the end of the season – a move they would prove to regret massively.

In his two seasons at Atalanta, De Ketelaere has registered 33 direct goal contributions in the league, adding another 16 in other competitions during that time – including nine in the Champions League last season.

The 24-year-old would come at a significant cost, but could well be the difference-maker needed in North London.

Mikkel Damsgaard – Brentford

Mikkel Damsgaard appeared to only truly arrive at Brentford last season, despite arriving in 2022 from Atalanta.

The midfielder had struggled to adapt to the Premier League in his first seasons, but came alive in a central role for Frank last season, providing 11 assists.

Mikkel Damsgaard:

Damsgaard is technique personified; the Dane is an elite passer of the ball and possesses a great shot when given the chance, too.

Brentford will be keen to retain their key men, having already lost Bryan Mbeumo and Christian Norgaard this summer, but Spurs would be amiss not to test the waters for the chance of reuniting Frank with a player he knows very well.

Bilal El Khannouss – Leicester City

Given how the Eze saga played out, some Tottenham frustrations will be placed at the door of Crystal Palace, as well as Arsenal.

The Eagles appeared to drag out negotiations before quickly agreeing on a deal with Arsenal, always being aware of the player’s preference.

Spurs could enact some revenge by hijacking Palace’s move for Bilal El Khannouss, with Leicester City yet to sanction the midfielder’s departure.

The Morocco international stood out in a poor team last season, and would be one slightly more for the future, rather than now.

Tottenham can seal deadline-busting Harvey Elliott transfer as Liverpool stance revealed

Tottenham could solve their attacking midfielder issue with Liverpool star Harvey Elliott.

Thomas Frank has been in the market for a number 10 after James Maddison was ruled out for up to seven months with injury.

Spurs have had approaches for Nico Paz and Morgan Gibbs-White fall apart, and their move for Eberechi Eze was hijacked by Arsenal.

Time is running out for them to add a new creative maestro before the 1 September deadline, but Elliott could fit the bill.

Tottenham told they could sign Harvey Elliott from Liverpool

Tottenham could hijack RB Leipzig’s move for Elliott, as they frantically search for a replacement for Maddison.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Iconic football commentator Ian Darke believes that the Reds would have no issue allowing the 22-year-old to depart for the North London club, despite them both competing in the Champions League.

Speaking to Liverpool News on 25 August, he said: “I think in the case of Harvey Elliott, they probably would if the price was right.

“I don’t think, as good as Harvey Elliott is, in the cold, ruthless light of day, they are going to look at that and think he is going to make the difference.

“I’m not sure Liverpool would see Tottenham as huge challengers to their crown this season. If it were Arsenal or Manchester City, it would be a different kettle of fish.

“Not Tottenham, who were 17th last season, let’s remember, and are still in some kind of transition with the new manager and sorting out new players.

“If the money is right, I think they would let him go. I think they have got to play fair with Harvey Elliott, he has said that if it was left to him, he would play for Liverpool forever, but he wants to make the World Cup squad.

“It is the time in his career where he has got to be a regular for somebody and not just coming on for 15 minutes at the end of games.”

Harvey Elliott can revive his career with Tottenham

Tottenham would be purchasing a player with star power who just needs regular game time to showcase it.

He can operate as a right winger or in an attacking midfield role, and that versatility could come in handy for Frank this season.

He has been behind the likes of Dominic Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah in the pecking order at Liverpool and needs to be handed a significant role to thrive, which he would have in N17.

The England Under-21 star featured for a total of 822 minutes in all competitions last season, and still managed to notch five goals and three assists, so there is definitely something to work with.

If the Lilywhites can reach a deal for Elliott, it makes sense. He is one of the most promising talents in the English game and could become a true superstar if he is allowed to star, rather than simply making cameo appearances.

The fact that the Anfield outfit may be willing to sell the former Fulham ace to Spurs is a huge concern, though, as it shows that they do not see them as contenders for their domestic crown or European glory at the moment.

Arsenal are not letting Tottenham breathe this summer, and Daniel Levy needs to dance around the pressure.

It seems poaching Eberechi Eze from Tottenham wasn’t enough for Arsenal, as Mikel Arteta looks to hijack another signing.

Spurs have already added Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha on loan from Bayern Munich to their squad rotation. But Thomas Frank wants more signings, and Tottenham are doing their best to sign them.

However, it seems Levy’s best is not good enough as Arsenal prepares to pull off another steal of the summer.

Levy can’t allow Arsenal to hijack Hincapie

Tottenham are believed to be keen on signing Piero Hincapie on a loan with an obligation to buy deal.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Bayern Leverkusen are not keen on selling Hincapie this window. However, Tottenham had been backed to get Hincapie’s deal over the line. But it seems it could be curtains for the Lilywhites once more as Arsenal ramp up their efforts to seal the deal.

As reported by David Ornstein via X on Monday, 25 August, Arsenal are working to sign Hincapie from Leverkusen. However, this is subject to player exits. The defender is keen on a departure and is prioritising the Gunners above all others.

After missing out on Eze and Morgan Gibbs-White this summer window, Levy can’t allow another player to slip through his grasp.

But in what may be Levy’s saving grace, Arteta’s side are negotiating a fee more realistic than his £60million release clause, which may come as a boost in Spurs’ pursuit.

With the Lilywhites reportedly tabling an amount close to his clause as part of the loan deal, Leverkusen could be more inclined to sell to Tottenham.

Piero Hincapie is making a mistake if he signs for Arsenal

Arsenal has one of the best defences in the Premier League with Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba as Arteta’s starting centre-back duo.

Hincapie can also play as a left-back. However, competition is even more rife with Myles Lewis Skelly, Riccardo Calafiori, and Oleksandr Zinchenko, all important squad players.

It was mentioned that Arsenal are looking to shift a couple of defenders out before the end of the window. But with a week left on the clock and nothing yet agreed, Hincapie could be in for another season in Germany if he waits for the Gunners.

Meanwhile, he would be guaranteed more minutes at Tottenham. The Lilywhites are in desperate need of another fullback option, with Destiny Udogie prone to injury and Djed Spence unable to hold the fort down alone.

Spurs’ main centre-back duo of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero is a strong one. However, both missed a combined 59 games in all competitions last season.

With Tottenham youngster Lucas Vuskovic also set to be loaned this summer, Hincapie could start most matches this season. As a result, he should think again before committing to Arsenal.

Tottenham have had an opening bid for Argentine midfielder Nico Paz turned down by Como.

Thomas Frank is hoping to add a creative midfielder to his options before the window closes next week, after Arsenal hijacked a Spurs move for Eberechi Eze.

Paz has been identified as a promising alternative, the midfielder establishing himself among Europe’s most exciting young players last season.

John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News that the deal will be a difficult one to pull off, however, with Real Madrid holding a buyback clause.

Nico Paz wants to stay for Real Madrid after £60million bid

Paz kicked off his season in terrific fashion on Sunday, 24 August, scoring and providing an assist in a 2-0 Como win over Lazio.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Cesc Fabregas’ team enjoyed a superb campaign in Serie A last season, finishing 10th – their best finishing position in the Italian top flight since the 1987/88 season.

Paz, who joined for around £5million from Real Madrid last summer, was key. The Argentina international scored six goals and provided nine assists in his first-ever season of regular first-team football.

The 20-year-old is a traditional number 10, picking up the ball between the lines to spin away from his opposing defender and feeding the ball through to his striker, or taking the shot on himself.

Born in Spain but choosing to represent Argentina, Paz made his debut for Lionel Scaloni’s team last year and is expected to play a leading role in the future for the World Cup holders.

Fabrizio Romano reported on 24 August that Spurs’ bid for the talent was worth £60m, which was turned down by Como.

Paz would prefer to stay in Italy before a potential return to Real Madrid, with the Spanish giants set to match any proposal accepted by Serie A side.

Xabi Alonso’s side have a £8.6m buy-back clause inserted in the midfielder’s contract that will take effect next summer.

Therefore, it makes no sense to reject this Tottenham bid, as Como could bank up to £50m more from Madrid if they were to simply accept the proposal from North London, which would be matched.

Back to the drawing board for Tottenham

Tottenham desperately need to sign a creative midfielder in the closing week of the transfer window.

Long-term injuries to both James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski have left Frank’s side lacking any attacking presence in midfield, with neither player expected to return before January.

But efforts to sign Eze, Morgan Gibbs-White, Morgan Rogers and now Paz have appeared to return fruitless.

Who Tottenham turn to now is unclear, but decision-makers at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium must make it quick.

Description

Daniel Levy’s recent mishap at Tottenham will need a little more than an apology to remedy.

Thomas Frank has gotten off to a pretty impressive start, considering his rollercoaster of a summer.

The Dane added to his excellent Premier League start with Tottenham’s 2-0 win against Manchester City at the Etihad. This comes after Spurs’ defeat to PSG in the Super Cup final, in which Frank has clearly learned his lesson.

But it has not been all smooth sailing, and Levy may have just made it 10 times harder for Frank to achieve results in North London.

This article includes exclusive comments from Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Thomas Frank will be ‘frustrated’ with Daniel Levy over Eberechi Eze snub

Tottenham were on track to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace this summer, but saw their plans come to an abrupt end.

Hours before the deal was set to be finalised, Eze agreed a deal to sign for rivals Arsenal in what was another blow for Spurs.

This comes after Tottenham missed out on Morgan Gibbs-White, who extended at Nottingham Forest despite agreeing personal terms at Hotspur Way.

This will no doubt be a huge blow for Levy, who has faced criticism at Tottenham before. Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes he could also face the wrath of Frank.

“How does that leave Frank feeling?” Wenham said.

“Twice he’s given a preferred target, firstly, Gibbs-White, then Eze, and both times we very publicly failed to get deals over the line. So I think there’ll be a massive feeling of frustration at Hotspur Way.”

Tottenham already have the perfect James Maddison answer

Tottenham may already have the answer to their James Maddison problem in Pape Matar Sarr.

Despite disappointing in the 10 position during Spurs’ defeat to Bayern Munich during pre-season, his performance against Man City has shown the way forward.

Sarr was everywhere. Whether initiating the press against Pep Guardiola’s side in the build-up or providing an outlet higher up on the pitch, Sarr stretched the field of play. His efforts earned him the Man of the Match award, but they also demonstrated that Tottenham do not need a 10 to win against tough opposition.

With Kudus out wide and efficient passers in the defence and midfield, Spurs may be set for the rest of the season.

Thomas Frank will hope to record some emphatic victories in the Premier League with Tottenham.

Tottenham have been a consistent presence in the Premier League since it was formed in 1992.

While the Lilywhites have never won the competition, they have come close, finishing second in the 2016/17 season and third on a couple of occasions.

However, last season marked Spurs’ worst-ever in the Premier League as they set a record for the most number of defeats (22) for a side that wasn’t relegated.

Despite winning the UEFA Europa League with Ange Postecoglou, Spurs’ awful form in the league saw them finish 17th, just one spot above the relegation zone.

MORE SPURS STORIES

As a result, Frank will be looking to improve on that this season and will need some big wins to do that.

Here, Tottenham News takes a look back at five of Spurs’ heaviest wins in the Premier League era.

Scoring six or more goals away from home in the Premier League is an impressive feat, and that is something which Tottenham did in four of the five wins on this list, an achievement Frank will look to emulate.

The first game takes us back to Goodison Park in the 2018/19 season, when Mauricio Pochettino was at the helm.

Tottenham fans will remember this campaign for their famous run in the UEFA Champions League. However, there were some memorable Premier League matches too, including the 6-2 win over Everton.

The Toffees actually took the lead in this clash through ex-Arsenal man Theo Walcott in the 21st minute, but Tottenham were level six minutes later through Son Heung-min before Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen got in on the act to put Spurs 4-1 up.

Everton pulled a goal back early in the second half, but Son and Kane responded by grabbing their braces to secure an emphatic win on the road for the Lilywhites.

Spurs’ most famous outing at Old Trafford came during the 2020/21 season, which was played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While there were no fans in attendance on the day, Spurs supporters will still look back on this demolition of Manchester United fondly.

Jose Mourinho was in the dugout at the time in North London, and he no doubt would have enjoyed this statement victory against his former club more than most.

Just like against Everton, Tottenham actually went behind early on as Bruno Fernandes scored from the spot in the second minute. However, Tanguy Ndombele equalised two minutes later, and from that point onward, the visitors never looked back.

Son and Kane both scored a second, with Serge Aurier finding the net in between the two Tottenham legends’ strikes, as United were humiliated in their own backyard.

Same scoreline, different stadium.

After it had been confirmed that Chelsea were Premier League champions and Tottenham could no longer catch them, many might have expected Spurs to fade away in the final two games of the season.

Instead, they recorded two of their heaviest wins in Premier League history.

The first came against the previous season’s Premier League winners, Leicester City, at the King Power Stadium, where Kane scored four times to fire himself back into contention for the Golden Boot.

Son got the other two, while Ben Chilwell netted for the hosts, and three days later, Spurs would record an even greater victory.

On the final day of the 2016/17 season, Kane scored a hat-trick to retain the Premier League Golden Boot.

It was the England international’s fifth, sixth and seventh goals that week after the thrashing of Leicester.

Alli, Victor Wanyama, Ben Davies and Toby Alderweireld completed the rout at the KCOM Stadium as Tottenham confirmed a second-place finish and their highest-ever Premier League points tally (86).

Spurs’ biggest win in Premier League history, and finally a game at home.

In the 2009/10 season, Jermain Defoe made history by becoming the only player ever in the Premier League to score five goals in one half.

At half-time, it was only 1-0 to the hosts after Petr Crouch had opened the scoring at White Hart Lane.

Instead, Defoe completed his hat-trick in the 58th minute, and after two more strikes from the Englishman and goals from Aaron Lennon, David Bentley and Niko Krancjar, Spurs had recorded their biggest-ever top-flight win, and biggest win since a 9-0 victory against Bristol Rovers in 1977.

Why Tottenham are constantly able to beat Manchester City – Pep Guardiola won’t like it - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham unexpectedly has Manchester City beat in one key metric that allows for constant victories.

Tottenham dominated Manchester City in a 2-0 victory at the Etihad in the Premier League.

This takes their tally to five wins, one draw and four defeats against the Citizens in their last 10 confrontations.

Pep Guardiola is a UEFA Champions League winner. He has six Premier League wins since becoming head coach in 2016. But Tottenham seems to be his Kryptonite in the Premier League.

There are several reasons why the Lilywhites have dominated Man City in the top flight. But the biggest reason will come as a huge shock.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham are greater and more consistent goal threat

Man City continue to dominate Tottenham in possession and touches during their confrontations. However, they have struggled to attack with purpose.

In Spurs’ last five wins, they have created 12 big chances against Guardiola’s side, scoring 11 goals. Meanwhile, the Citizens have created seven big chances, netting just twice.

Tottenham’s 4-0 win against Man City at the Etihad illustrates this point perfectly.

According to Stat Muse, with 58.4 per cent possession, the Blues took 23 shots and completed 566 passes. However, only five of those shots were on target, and they failed to convert all three big chances.

Comparatively, Tottenham took nine shots with 41.6 per cent possession. Seven of these were on target, and five big chances were created.

This statistic has been a constant these past couple of seasons:

For reference, the Citizens led the Premier League in goals scored during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, yet were rendered ineffective against Tottenham.

Man City’s defeat against Tottenham just goes to show that possession without purpose is meaningless in football.

Thomas Frank’s win aganist Manchester City challenges the narrative

Interestingly, Man City created more big chances, and four of their 10 shots were on target compared to Spurs’ 12 and five.

This marks a stark difference from most of Lilywhite’s recent wins against the Premier League-winning side. But this metric in fact demonstrates how Tottenham have evolved tactically under Thomas Frank.

Frank went with a back four against Man City, which came as a shock. However, in large parts, the Citizens were rendered ineffective because of how Tottenham defended and attacked the ball.

Frank initiated a high press against Man City, keen to take advantage of Ederson’s absence in the lineup. This is how Joao Palhinha’s goal for Spurs was created.

Pape Matar Sarr stole the ball from James Trafford, who is not as efficient with the ball at his feet. This man-to-man, relentless press caught Guardiola’s side off guard, which created more goalscoring opportunities for the Lilywhites.

Meanwhile, Frank was keen to exploit the space left behind by Man City. Tottenham’s players were always keen to get on the other end of a through ball.

This was seen when Sarr nodded the ball to Richarlison, who threaded it through to Brennan Johnson to score his second of the season. Sarr again made a run behind Man City’s defence to get onto the end of Richarlison’s pass – if he was an inch taller, Spurs would have hard their third.

So rather than the Citizens not taking or creating chances, Spurs’ hard-fought victory was won through their press, resilience and Frank’s incredible tactical mind.

Daniel Levy could find issues in the market once again as Tottenham attempts to recover from the latest transfer blunder.

Thomas Frank will still be on a high after Tottenham dominated Manchester City in a 2-0 win at the Etihad.

Richarlison was excellent once again, but it was Joao Palhinha who stole the show against Manchester City. After a superb showing, the Dane will be keen to extend his success to the summer market.

However, Tottenham could struggle to get certain potential signings over the line in the future.

This article includes exclusive comments from Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham.

Tottenham’s relationship with Creative Artists Agency to face ‘severe scrutiny’

Levy has been vying for a comeback after missing out on Eberechi Eze to Arsenal this month.

This comes after Spurs were snubbed by Morgan Gibbs-White, who extended his contract at Nottingham Forest earlier in the window.

The Lilywhites have always maintained good relations with the Creative Artists Agency, which has represented the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho.

Eze is another player who is represented by the agency. However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes his failed transfer may have fractured relations between Spurs and the CAA Base.

“Tottenham’s relationship with Creative Artists Agency Base is now under severe scrutiny, if you ask me,” Wenham said.

“When you consider that, they’re very friendly with them historically, we’ve seen them as a preferred working agency. To now see Eze as a base client, not join Tottenham, I think there’ll be issues there.”

Who is Tottenham’s next signing?

Tottenham will likely sign an attacking midfielder before the summer window closes, despite missing out on Eze.

Nico Paz, who is currently at Como and Lucas Paqueta are two names that have been cited in recent days. It was even suggested that Mohammed Kudus’ signing could facilitate Paqueta’s transfer.

While Paz seems like the likelier arrival, Paqueta may be the better option.

The Como midfielder excels in ball carrying and marginally trumps West Ham’s star in key and forward passes. However, the Brazilian is levels above in every other metric.

With Paqueta believed to be up for a new challenge this summer, Spurs may be better off tabling an offer.

Tottenham blasted over Luka Vuskovic treatment as fresh news emerges – ‘It’s very poor’

Tottenham look as though they have finally reached a decision regarding the future of Luka Vuskovic.

The centre-back arrived in N17 earlier this summer after officially joining from Hajduk Split back in 2023, and he has already caught the eye during his first few appearances for the Lilywhites.

Vuskovic was hugely impressive in his Tottenham debut, when he notched a goal and an assist within minutes of being introduced into the pre-season game at Reading.

Thomas Frank has named the 18-year-old on the bench for both of his side’s Premier League games so far this term, but he may now be unavailable to the Dane moving forward.

This article includes exclusive comment from former Tottenham scout and Croatian football expert Bryan King.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham show ‘poor man-management’ with Luka Vuskovic exit

Vuskovic’s fate at Spurs has now been decided, with the North Londoners now in talks with Hamburg over a loan move to the Bundesliga.

The imminent move will see the defender play at a strong level of football in the Bundesliga, but cruciall for Spurs, will not include any sort of purchase option.

However, the defender has been left in limbo somewhat in recent days, with Spurs understood to have been stalling a deal for some time, despite Vuskovic agreeing on the move, according to Hamburg outlet MOPO.

Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes a stint with the German giants would be an ideal move for the youngster, but also feels that the Lilywhites have let themselves down with their initial handling of the deal.

“I think Hamburg would suit him,” King said.

“The Bundesliga always seems to suit Croatian players. There’s been a lot that have taken that pathway.

“Hamburg got promoted last year, and it’s a fantastic place to play; they’ve got a great stadium and big crowds.

“It’s a very interesting one for the player, I think it would do him the world of good if he spent the year there.

“But, it seems like a very poor way for Spurs to do business; it’s very poor man-management for me.”

Luka Vuskovic should stay at Tottenham

Vuskovic’s future at Tottenham has been a source of much discussion since the start of pre-season, and there is certainly an argument that the Croatian should stay with his parent club for this season.

He had a successful loan stint in Belgium last term, and then showed hugely encouraging signs for Spurs this summer.

He is unlikely to feature ahead of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero on a regular basis, but there would have been plenty of opportunities to get him game time in the cups and against strugglers in the Premier League.

The Bundesliga will be a good move for Vuskovic, but the opportunity to get to known his surroundings at Tottenham could have been equally valuable.

Description

Tottenham will need to get past Real Madrid to avoid further transfer heartbreak this summer.

Daniel Levy will be hoping to spring back from Eberechi Eze’s humiliating decision to sign for rivals Arsenal with a couple more signings.

The Tottenham chairman has been in deep water in recent days, with CEO Vinai Venkatesham also “facing issues” at Spurs.

However, great gains in the summer window will be hard to come by.

This article includes exclusive comments from Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham will struggle to sign Nico Paz

Tottenham have identified Nico Paz as a viable alternative to Eze this summer.

Paz has been praised by Lionel Messi and other notable figures in the football world. On 15 April, legendary Italian footballer Francesco Totti predicted a bright future for the young midfielder.

In quotes translated by The Pinnacle Gazette on 16 April, Totti said: “Nico Paz will become one of the best players in the world.

“I would bet on a young player like Nico Paz, I like him. He is an original, creative, and mischievous player.”

However, Real Madrid could shape up to be a huge stumbling block in getting his transfer over the line.

Madrid agreed on three buy-back clauses with Como as part of their deal. This included a £6.9million clause for the summer of 2025, £7.7m in 2026 and £8.6m in 2027.

As a result, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Madrid will not permit Paz to bypass them that easily.

“They say he’s the most viable,” Wenham said.

“Paz has this buyback clause with Real Madrid for like £8m this year and £9m the next. I just don’t see a world where Real Madrid allows us to get him. If there’s any indication that we’re going to take him and suddenly they don’t have those nice buy-backs available to them, I’d just see them swooping in and getting him.

“So, I’d be interested to see how that plays out. I just don’t see Tottenham being able to get Paz.”

Is Nico Paz a good James Maddison replacement?

Paz will struggle to emulate what James Maddison brought to the Lilywhites.

When comparing their 2024/25 seasons, the Englishman has him beat in almost every single metric, barring ball carrying and possession won.

However, even where Paz excels, he’s cutting it close. On ball carrying, he ended the season with 83.9 to Maddison’s 68.3 per 90. While the gap in possession won is smaller, with Paz putting up 23.8 to the Spurs midfielder’s 13.1.

Therefore, while he may be young, Paz may struggle to grow into the ‘Maddison role’ at Tottenham.
