Tottenham have been named among the ‘big six’ as those who are not keen on the Premier League’s idea to revamp the revenue stream of pitch-side advertisement.

The Premier League are wanting to change pitch-side advertisements so that they can sell 60 per cent of revenue centrally instead of individual clubs doing so.

Although no official comment has been made by Spurs, the Daily Mail reported on Tuesday that the proposal has been met with “resistance” from the ‘big six’.

Tottenham are one of the teams that have internal “concerns” over the idea that would see the Premier League increase their number of existing partners from seven to 10, potentially generating an extra £750million per year.

Though on paper it sounds like a no-brainer, there are smart reasons as to why Joe Lewis and Co. may turn this over completely down.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham will lose commercial independence with £750m news

As highlighted by The Boy Hotspur, Spurs are ranked ninth around the world for club revenue, even ahead of some major European clubs.

The advertisement change would see the revenue split between the 20 clubs in the Premier League, and though the extra £750m may sound appealing, when analysed it’s not the safe choice to make.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is arguably the best venue in England, and with that, one of the most attractive ones to secure advertising deals.

If Lewis were to accept the Premier League’s offer, the plus is that they would most likely get a guaranteed share of what’s being offered. However, they are losing out on the profits that they can make on their own.

The Lilywhites may suffer a hit to their revenue this season following a poor league campaign, but there will be hopes that things can soon turn around in N17.

The risks that Tottenham run by turning down Premier League’s offer

Tottenham would make the right call to snub the Premier League’s offer, and if anyhting, it shows that the long-term ambition of the club is still their to indepnedlty be a success.

Everyone in the football industry wants to make money, of course, but if relegation occurred, that would be more damaging than anything.

Spurs are currently battling to secure the best possible sponsorship deals for the future, with changes coming to their front-of-shirt sponsor, AIA.

The only problem is that the Lilywhites may not be able to secure the best advertisement moving forward, should their poor form continue.

Less global spotlight and TV appearances mean fewer chances of adverts being seen, resulting in less money overall. Let’s just hope they make the right call.

Description

Mikey Moore may be out on loan at Rangers, but the Tottenham academy graduate is still keeping tabs on his parent club.

On the afternoon of 17 February, Tottenham’s under-18s faced off against Arsenal in a youth version of the North London derby.

In this instance, the Lilywhites got one over their bitter rivals in a 4-1, with Igor Tudor now hoping to do the same for the first team this weekend.

Moore, who came through the academy himself, was quick to react to a post about Feeney’s brace, leaving a like on it.

MORE SPURS STORIES

How is George Feeney performing for Tottenham’s academy?

Feeney is a highly-rated prospect by Tottenham, as seen by the Lilywhites handing him a professional contract over a year ago.

The midfielder has been in excellent form for the youth sides as of late, with the Northern Irishman picking up four goal contributions in his last three games in the under-18 Premier League.

That includes his two goals against Arsenal, as well as assists against both Crystal Palace and Norwich City.

Feeney is a versatile talent who has played across every midfield role for the Spurs academy this campaign.

He is no doubt a prospect to keep an eye on, as if he can translate producing those big moments at the youth level to the senior game, he will be an excellent player.

While the men’s side of the game has been disappointing, it is refreshing to see some good news across other aspects of the club.

How is Mikey Moore doing out on loan?

In terms of Moore’s performances for Rangers, it is looking to be a successful loan spell for the winger.

Moore has been a key member of the Glaswegian outfit’s squad as they seek to win the Scottish Premier League.

The Spurs loanee has scored four goals and assisted a further four across all competitions this season.

His displays may see the Gers look to sign him once again next season, whether that is another loan or a permanent deal.

The 18-year-old will certainly have a decision on his hands on if he wants to try to force his way into Spurs’ plans from next season onwards.

He has shown he is capable of doing so, and time will tell how big an impact he makes at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the future.

Wayne Rooney shares what Thomas Frank immediately got wrong at Tottenham

Description

Thomas Frank failed to live up to expectations before being sacked by Tottenham, with Igor Tudor already confirmed as his replacement.

Frank has left the Lilywhites sitting in 16th place, with the London club embroiled in a relegation battle.

The North London club has also been eliminated from both cup tournaments, with only the Champions League the remaining trophy available.

The Dane began life at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in great fashion, with just one loss in his opening seven Premier League games.

However, things quickly unravelled, with results and performances plummeting, and Wayne Rooney believes Frank should have avoided one thing in his opening months in charge.

MORE SPURS STORIES

What does Wayne Rooney think Thomas Frank should have done at Tottenham?

Frank began his life at Tottenham in quite an odd fashion, exclaiming to supporters that they would “lose football matches”.

While he may have been honest, and nearly every team in football ends up losing games, it does not provide much optimism for fans.

Rooney is in agreement with that sentiment, and the former Manchester United man has said he underwent the same sort of honesty under Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford, which wasn’t a good thing.

Speaking on The Overlap’s fan debate, Rooney said about that initial press conference: “You have to say things which you don’t feel, which will help the players, even if you don’t believe what you’re saying, and the fans will listen to it. Whereas, as you say, he said we’re going to lose games.”

He continued to say: “I think when you go down that route of being too honest, and obviously we’re part of the media now, and you want them to be honest.

“But from a fan’s point of view or a player who’s in that dressing room, you don’t want them to be too honest.”

The former England striker is spot on. Players hearing their manager state they are going to lose games will do nothing positive in boosting their confidence.

After winning the Europa League the season before, the Tottenham players would have been wanting to hear how they could continue that success and to feel that winning feeling once again.

Igor Tudor must restore belief at Tottenham

While Tudor is only here for the remainder of the season, he still has a huge role to play at Tottenham.

Priority number one is to stave off relegation, but he must also instil a sense of self-belief at the club, which in truth has been lacking for much of the season.

The Croatian has been handed a unique opportunity to do just that in his first game in charge. Spurs host Arsenal on 22 February, and a win against their bitter rivals could do a lot to lift spirits.

Spurs are in danger of going down and have yet to win a game in 2026 in the Premier League, and supporters will be hoping a change of fortunes is sooner rather than later in N17.

Description

John Heitinga’s short stay at Tottenham has already come to an end upon the arrival of interim boss Igor Tudor.

Former Ajax manager Heitinga only joined Tottenham in mid-January when he became part of Thomas Frank’s backroom staff.

Now that Frank has been sacked, though, the former Liverpool first-team coach is looking for new opportunities away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Before Tudor‘s appointment on Saturday, on a deal for the rest of the season, Heitinga was reportedly being considered for that role.

And according to the Daily Mail, Heitinga didn’t want to stick around to be part of Tudor’s entourage for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.

John Heitinga didn’t want to be part of Igor Tudor’s entourage

After Tudor was sworn in at Tottenham on Saturday, he began working with the squad for the first time on Monday.

Assistant coaches Justin Cochrane and Chris Haslam, who followed Frank to Brentford last summer, have left, as has Heitinga.

The Dutchman only lasted 32 days at Tottenham, and now it’s said that Heitinga did not wish to remain part of the new coaching structure under former Juventus boss Tudor.

The ex-Marseille manager has not taken long to shape his backroom team, with assistant coach Ivan Javorcic, physical coach Riccardo Ragnacci and goalkeeping coach Tomislav Rogic all joining him.

Elsewhere, set-piece coach Andreas Georgson and individual development coach Cameron Campbell, both of whom joined last summer, are set to stay. And goalkeeping coach Fabian Otte is expected to be retained despite Rogic’s arrival.

Incidentally, all these departures will mean hefty pay-outs for Tottenham, too.

Have Tottenham landed the right man in Tudor?

When Tudor was initially announced, there were quite a few grumblings among Tottenham’s fanbase, with many not best pleased with his managerial record.

Indeed, the Croatian has had 12 managerial jobs in 11 years, many of which he has been sacked from not very long into the role.

He was dismissed by Juventus last year after just seven months in charge, and the sole trophy he has won was at Hajduk Split in 2013 when they lifted the Croatian Cup.

However, Tudor does have a reputation for being something of a firefighter – a term used for managers who can get teams out of trouble as a short-term fix.

For instance, he kept Udinese in Serie A in 2018 and going by his first Spurs interview, supporters seem optimistic that he can do a job at the north London team.

They currently sit 16th in the Premier League and are just five points above the relegation zone. But the naysayers will be out in force if they lose the North London Derby to league leaders Arsenal on Sunday.

Sam Allardyce outlines first thing Igor Tudor should’ve done at Tottenham after latest developments: ‘What is going on?’

Igor Tudor has joined Tottenham while they’re in the middle of a huge injury crisis.

The 47-year-old will take charge of Spurs until the end of the season, but he currently has a very limited squad to choose from.

As the Lilywhites are in a relegation battle, they desperately need the majority of their players to be fit, but that simply isn’t the case.

Unfortunately for the Croatian head coach, 11 players are out of contention for Sunday’s North London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, while Cristian Romero is still serving his four-game ban for the red card he was shown against Man United on 7 February.

This means it will be incredibly tough for Tudor to name a strong starting lineup in the next few weeks, and former Premier League manager Sam Allardyce can’t wrap his head around the amount of injuries he has to deal with.

The Sofascore graphic above shows that Tudor didn’t have a great spell at Juventus, and he was sacked by the Italian side in October 2025 after just seven months.

However, what’s clear is that he has to have a fast start to life at Tottenham, but his squad have been hampered by injuries all season.

The latest news on the injury front is that Lucas Bergvall now won’t be available until April, and it is the latest blow in a series of setbacks that Spurs have had to adapt to in 2025-26.

Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast on 17 February, Allardyce was left confused by how many players are out of action in N17.

He said: “They’re in the Champions League and that will hinder their survival hopes in the Premier League. You’re going have to play your best eleven.

“If I were the new Tottenham head coach, the first thing I’d be doing is to go into the physio room.

“I mean, what is going on? How is it that there are so many injuries? You’ve got all these staff to help prevent injuries, but what are they doing?”

Every player on that list still has a while to go before they can return to the side fully fit, which is deeply concerning.

Tudor has his work cut out for him, but he is not the first Tottenham manager to face this type of problem.

Tottenham’s medical team needs to fall under scrutiny

The truth is that Tottenham having an excessive injury list has been a recurring theme in recent years.

Ange Postecoglou had his entire defence unfit for large parts of last season, although his players returned in time to help Spurs win the Europa League.

At the start of this campaign, Richarlison, Randal Kolo Muani and Dominic Solanke were all injured around the same time, which left Mathys Tel starting up front for several games under Thomas Frank.

In the 2-1 defeat to Newcastle on 10 February, Spurs had six teenagers on the bench, which clearly shows how badly they’ve been affected by injuries.

The current medical department is doing a poor job, with many players suffering a recurrence of a previous issue they had.

Ultimately, something needs to change at Tottenham, and the medical team has to take some responsibility for the injury woes in N17.

Because it simply isn’t just bad luck anymore.

Lucas Bergvall won’t be returning from his injury anytime soon at Tottenham.

The Swedish midfielder had surgery on his ankle after coming off in the 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund on 20 January, and he has been left on the sidelines ever since.

Although Bergvall was a huge part of the Europa League win under Ange Postecoglou last season, he failed to find his feet under Thomas Frank.

With Igor Tudor now the new head coach until the end of the season, the 19-year-old midfielder would have been desperate to instantly prove himself under the Croatian.

However, it now looks as if he won’t make a full recovery for another six weeks.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Lucas Bergvall could return at the start of April

Bergvall is one of the brightest prospects in the Premier League, and he has already been incredibly important for Spurs in the last 18 months.

However, his development has definitely been stunted by Tottenham’s poor performances this season and his most recent spell on the sidelines.

According to Swedish media outlet FotbollDirekt, the protective boot for his injury has been removed.

A return to training will likely take place in six weeks’ time, if there are no complications with his recovery.

This means that he will be out until the start of April, and given Tottenham’s run of fixtures, that certainly isn’t good news.

In that time, Tottenham have to face Arsenal, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

He will also miss both legs in the Champions League round of 16, although he is expected to return for the quarter-final matches that start on 6 April, should Spurs qualify.

Fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium are incredibly keen on the Swede, although it’s unclear what the future may hold for him.

Could Bergvall leave Tottenham in the summer?

As he has such high potential, it’s not a surprise that several other clubs around Europe would want him in their team.

According to David Ornstein on 14 February, Bergvall’s lack of football in the first half of the season led to interest from Chelsea and Aston Villa in the winter transfer window.

Spurs have always remained clear in their stance that he is not for sale, but as it looks likely that they won’t qualify for Champions League football next season, they may not have a choice.

A successful run of games under Tudor would reignite interest in the young midfielder, and a departure in the summer isn’t out of the question.

Although he’ll return before the end of the season, he might not many more appearances in a Tottenham shirt.

Tottenham fans in awe of what Igor Tudor said in first interview as Spurs boss: ‘Already better than Thomas Frank’

Tottenham fans are beginning to feel hopeful about their future under Igor Tudor.

The Croatian head coach takes the reins from Thomas Frank until the end of the season, with the Dane losing his job following the recent 2-1 defeat to Newcastle.

Tudor makes the move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having been sacked by Italian giants Juventus earlier this season, after previously guiding the Old Lady to the Champions League last term.

Ahead of Sunday’s North London derby, the 47-year-old has spoken in his first interview at the club.

As a result, Tottenham fans are beginning to love the things that they are hearing.

Tudor joins the club knowing that the current predicament is far from ideal, but acknowledges that Spurs must attack it head on.

Sharing the interview, The London Standard journalist Sam Tabuteau said: “Courage, confidence and attacking football,” following Tudor’s first words.

One of the main criticisms during Frank’s time at the club revolved around his more reserved setup – something that Spurs fans feel will not be the case under Tudor.

Spurs sit 16th in the Premier League, with Frank coming under immense criticism for his approach revolving around the opposition, rather than Tottenham looking to impose themselves.

This is something that supporters are hoping is not the case under Tudor, with the Frank comparisons continuing to flow: “20 seconds in and he is already speaking better than Frank,” said one X user.

But the overarching feeling at Spurs is that there are no excuses from here on in. Tudor has the job of guiding the club to safety, while also preparing the club for another fresh start next season, whether it is him at the helm or not.

Tudor has the chance to make himself an instant Tottenham on Sunday, as they welcome league leaders Arsenal to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a clash that carries huge implications at both ends of the table.

Igor Tudor has an important role in preparing Tottenham for the future

The current remit for Tudor is to guide Spurs to safety after a dismal campaign so far.

But, he holds an important role in preparing Tottenham for the future, whether it is the Croatian at the helm or not.

Following the Europa League triumph under Ange Postecoglou last May, the feeling was that Spurs were entering a new era, with the trophy drought finally over.

That has not proven to be the case, with a lack of discernable direction once again costing Tottenham in comparison to their ‘big six’ rivals.

Tudor will play an important role in drilling an idea in at Spurs – one involving the attacking football that supporters are desperate for, alongside the required fight to secure their place in the division.

While he is only at the club temporarily on paper, his stay at the club carries significant long-term value.

Richard Keys reacts to multi-million 'disgrace' over Thomas Frank sack at Tottenham - 'It's scandalous' - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Richard Keys says the amount of money spent on Thomas Frank after his eight-month stint at Tottenham is “scandalous”.

On Thursday, Tottenham sacked Frank after winning just two of their last 17 Premier League games.

Frank had a huge amount of success at Brentford but couldn’t translate that at Tottenham, who now sit 16th in the Premier League table, just five points above the relegation zone.

Spurs brought Frank to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last summer on a deal until 2028, with Brentford receiving £6.7million after the north London team met his release clause.

Now, Keys has drawn attention to how much financial waste there is in football when it comes to paying off managerial contracts.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Thomas Frank set for huge pay out despite Tottenham sacking

While Frank oversaw Tottenham’s safe passage to the last 16 of the Champions League this season, the Dane was unable to get a tune out of them in the Premier League.

Spurs started the campaign well, but it has been a steady decline for months now, so much so that it was inevitable that Frank would be dismissed.

Incidentally, according to The Sun, Frank’s “miserable” tenure at Tottenham could cost the club £30.7m.

He was said to be on around £8m per year, so in addition to his release clause, Spurs have forked out an awful lot of money for a very short spell.

As a result, Keys has called out this “scandalous” amount of financial waste, something he acknowledges happens all the time in football – something Joe Lewis is certainly guilty of.

He wrote on his blog: “I guess it was inevitable Spurs would part company with Thomas Frank, but in what other business would an organisation be able to get away with such rank stupidity?

“Spurs paid Brentford £6.7m only seven months ago to get him – then they pull the rug away. Now there’s the business of compensation for Frank. It’s scandalous. An absolute disgrace, but it goes on all the time in football.”

For the time being, Tottenham have decided against splashing the cash again on a manager, with interim boss Igor Tudor tasked with leading the team for the rest of the season.

Whether or not he can keep the Europa League holders in the Premier League this term is another matter, though.

Will Igor Tudor do any better than Frank at Tottenham?

During Frank’s brief spell at Tottenham, he was in charge for just 38 matches in all competitions.

The Dane won 13 of those, secured 11 draws, and suffered 14 defeats – leading to a win percentage of under 35. At Brentford, his win percentage was 41.64 per cent during his 317 games at the helm.

Now, former Juventus boss Tudor has taken up the reins at Tottenham, a confirmation that has been met with mixed reactions among Spurs fans.

On the face of it, Tudor hasn’t had a great deal of success in management, with the Croatian having 12 jobs in just 11 years.

The 47-year-old has managed at big clubs such as Marseille, Juve, Galatasaray, and Lazio, but his best work came at Hajduk Split back in 2013-15 – where he won the Croatian Cup for his sole trophy as a coach.

Tudor has repeatedly been sacked during his short stays at teams, so Tottenham supporters, arguably, have the right to feel a bit uneasy about his appointment.

But if he is able to steer them to safety, he may be remembered more fondly at Spurs than Frank, even if he is the cheap option for now.

Description

Tottenham are braced for at least one of their most prominent and long-serving sponsorship deals to expire at the end of the season, with concerns over no renewal mounting.

That’s according to The Telegraph on Monday, as Joe Lewis and Co. remain unsure on whether the sponsor will even renew, and if so, on what terms.

With the Lilywhites now struggling at the bottom end of the Premier League, they could also miss out on bonuses for European qualification from several of their sponsors.

Some of these sponsors even have termination clauses in the contracts if relegation occurs, which would obviously leave Lewis and Co. severely out of pocket.

It’s already known that Tottenham could lose over £25million with their current deal with front-of-shirt sponsor, AIA, changing from July of 2027.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The contract with AIA is currently worth £40million a year, and from the summer of 2027 onwards, it will be reduced to a fee in the region of £10-£15million a year, with the brand only featuring on Tottenham’s training kit.

Tottenham already burned money with Thomas Frank

Tottenham are on a backwards slope financially and after pay off the estimated £18million that is left in Thomas Frank’s contract.

The club already made a £6.7million investment in the summer to pry him away from Brentford, just for it to turn out as a failure of an appointment months later.

The Lilywhites currently sit 16th in the Premier League, five points from the relegation zone, with Igor Tudor coming in as interim boss until the end of the season.

While there will be a great deal of confidence that Spurs’ current quality of players will be enough to keep the club in the top flight, there will surely be another huge summer of transition once again.

Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust not happy with recent board meeting

There is a lot of controversy surrounding the board at the moment, and the news of more potential losses will only add fuel to the fire.

As reported by football.london on Monday, Tottenham Hotspur’s Supporters Trust met up with the likes of Vinai Venkatesham and other Tottenham chiefs to present their findings from a recent ownership survey.

But the trust then released a statement shortly after the meeting, with a feeling of “dissatisfaction” over the agreed minutes of the meeting.

It goes to show that Venkatesham and others may not truly care about what Supporters think, as it’s another example of them being out of touch.

Something needs to change in N17, and fans may not stop their protest against the club’s hierarchy.

Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie has been linked with a move to Juventus.

According to Calciomercato, Juventus are considering selling utility player Andrea Cambiaso after a drop off in form this season.

The 25-year-old can play at left-back and right midfield, but 17 of his 33 appearances in all competitions for the Italian side this season have come as a left midfielder.

The report states Juve are open to him leaving for around £35million, with the Italian’s contract with the Old Lady running until 2029.

If he does go, Tottenham star Udogie is said to be a top target for the Serie A outfit, with the 23-year-old described as their “chosen one” in the transfer market.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Destiny Udogie’s turbulent Tottenham season

Udogie swapped Udinese for Tottenham in 2022 for a fee around £15.5m and since then he has made 86 appearances.

But this season has been a real struggle for the young Italian, whose contract runs until 2030 at Tottenham.

He missed the start of the campaign with a knee injury and then was waylaid by a hamstring problem in December and January.

Udogie is back on the sidelines with another hamstring issue, which came after he was reportedly held at gunpoint in November and then had his car broken into in January near Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

If Udogie is sold, it is likely to be for a lot more than their initial £15.5m outlay. Tottenham teammate Djed Spence has kept him out of the team this season on occasion but when fit, he has a good shot at being first-choice left-back.

Udogie is almost certain to leave, however, if Tottenham fail to stay in the Premier League, which, while unlikely, is not beyond the realms of possibility.

Will Igor Tudor be able to keep Tottenham in the Premier League?

On Saturday, Tottenham announced the arrival of interim boss Igor Tudor until the end of the season, two days after sacking head coach Thomas Frank.

While many Spurs fans were happy to see Frank go, with Tottenham currently 16th in the table, some were underwhelmed with Tudor’s appointment.

Indeed, a CV of 12 managerial jobs in 11 years has raised a few eyebrows, particularly as he has been sacked by the likes of Juventus, Udinese, Marseille, and more.

The fact that he has been given these big jobs may show there is potential there, but his swift stays at clubs do not breed confidence.

Tottenham are just five points above the relegation zone and next up they face Premier League leaders Arsenal in the latest edition of the North London Derby on Sunday.

If West Ham beat Bournemouth on Saturday, Spurs could be just two points clear of the bottom three. Evidently, Tudor has a huge job on his hands. He has a reputation of being a firefighter and that is exactly what the north London team need right now.
