Description

Daniel Levy has been keen to shift some dead weight at Tottenham in time for the new season.

The Tottenham Chairman is eager to get the squad ready for Thomas Frank before the Premier League commences.

This has seen several players leave Hotspur Way, including Son Heung-min. However, Levy is not done yet, with Richarlison’s exit expected before the forthcoming season begins.

This article includes exclusive comments from Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham.

Tottenham’s final chance to move Richarlison on

Richarlison is expected to leave Tottenham this summer, with clubs in Italy and Turkey linked with the forward.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Among his inconsistent performances on the pitch since his big-money switch from Everton, injuries have played a huge role in his fate. Last season, the Brazilian scored five goals and provided two assists in 24 appearances.

Not only is this level of output abysmal for a star forward at Spurs, but 24 games in a team which reached the UEFA Europa League final is testament to how much of an issue his injuries have been.

As a result, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that Tottenham will part ways with Richarlison this summer.

“If you said to me that he’s going to be fit and available for all 50-plus games we will hopefully play next season, I’d say absolutely keep him around,” Wenham said.

“But I’m also aware that history tells me you can’t do that. And at the times when, unfortunately, Dominic Solanke or whoever over the last year has been injured, we turn to the bench and he’s not there. For a variety of reasons, he’s not there.

“He’s only got two years left on his contract. Therefore, I think this summer is Tottenham’s last chance to move him on.”

Tottenham need to sign a Richarlison replacement

If Richarlison departs North London this summer, Tottenham will need to sign a replacement striker.

Mohammed Kudus is a good start. The former West Ham star can play as a centre-forward as well as a right winger and midfielder.

But with squad depth in mind, the club will need to recruit a pure striker before the window closes. Solanke and Kudus cannot hold down the fort alone, while Mathys Tel is more comfortable on the left.

As a result, it would not be a surprise to see Tottenham in the market for another striker if Richarlison leaves Hotspur Way.

‘Phenomenal’ – Tottenham have signed ‘massive’ Brennan Johnson upgrade

Description

Brennan Johnson has struggled to put his best foot forward at Tottenham these past couple of weeks.

The right winger was deployed on the left wing during Spurs’ goalless draw against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road (26 July). However, other than a few lively spells during the first half, his performance lacked in several departments.

As a result, his position in Thomas Frank’s team has been greatly speculated in recent weeks. And with a new talent on the block, Johnson may need to concede his spot at Tottenham.

This article includes exclusive comments from Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham.

Mohammed Kudus is a top-five Tottenham player

Mohammed Kudus has made an instant impact for Frank since signing for Tottenham from West Ham earlier this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

From his physical prowess in duels to his technical skill on the wings, the winger has been one of the biggest highlights from the Lilywhites’ pre-season thus far.

As a result, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that he is already one of the best players Spurs have to offer.

“Kudus is significantly better than I thought he was,” Wenham said

“I think he’s already in our top five best players. Kudus is an extremely good signing. I think he’s a massive upgrade on Johnson. That’s no disrespect to Johnson, because he scores a lot of goals, and scoring goals is what football is all about.

“But Kudus brings so much to the team. He’s got that ability like Moussa Dembele to pick up the ball in tight areas, dribble past two or three people, and he either makes something happen or wins a foul. He looks like a phenomenal signing. Therefore, I’m delighted with that.”

Johnson could still be useful at Tottenham

The Welshman’s excellent movement and finishing have rarely been questioned at Tottenham.

However, his ability to take on his man and dribble has. This has often caused fans to hope for a better alternative that gets them off their feet.

As a result, his use has often been underrated among supporters. While Johnson’s approach may not be the most aesthetically pleasing, it gets the job done.

His ability to sniff out goals and crash the box is one of the reasons Spurs were crowned UEFA Europa League winners last season. Therefore, there is no doubt that his skills could be beneficial for Tottenham in Europe once again next season.

Description

Brennan Johnson could find himself in a difficult situation at Tottenham in the coming months.

It seems almost ludicrous that there are conversations about Johnson facing the chopping block at Spurs.

The right winger finished last season as the top scorer in North London and netted the winning goal during the UEFA Europa League final.

However, with a changing of the guard comes a manager with new ideas and plans for the future. And there is every chance that Johnson may not be a factor.

This article includes exclusive comments from Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Johnson has little to worry about at Tottenham

The Welshman’s pre-season form has fuelled speculation about his future at Tottenham.

Mohammed Kudus has hit the ground running and seems to be Thomas Frank’s first choice for the right wing. This would push Johnson out onto the left, but Wilson Odobert could rival his spot.

However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Johnson does not have too much to worry about as it stands.

“I think Johnson’s got a lot of credit in the bank,” Wenham said.

“We’ve got to remember that Frank tried to bring Johnson to Brentford. It’s a big squad. I know we’ve all got our best XI.

“But there’s also a realisation that we get a lot of injuries and we play a lot of games and we’ve got stoppages in games where your hamstrings and muscles go colder, then you’re asked to warm them up again and perform at a high level, there’s going to be injuries all the time.

“For me, I don’t think he should be worried at all, he counts as homegrown as well, and can play any of the front three positions if needed. Therefore, I think we’ll certainly be keeping Johnson around.”

Johnson could improve on the left

Healthy competition at Tottenham could be the best thing that could happen to Johnson.

The winger has acknowledged some of the faults in his game, such as his one-on-one ability, and being forced onto the left wing could encourage him to improve his overall play.

Indeed, Johnson will need to work ten times harder to succeed in a different position. As a result, fans could see a greater hunger in the Welshman over the next few months.

Description

Tottenham have seen their transfer window become awash with links to exciting players so far this summer.

Thomas Frank looks set to be well-backed by Daniel Levy, as the Lilywhites have consistently been linked with several big-money moves, on top of the business that they have already done.

Rodrygo is the latest star to be linked with a move to Spurs, with an offer from the North Londoners already on the table for the Real Madrid star.

The new boss will have been keen to overhaul the squad following a dismal domestic campaign last time out, and it looks as though he will continue to receive new additions.

This article includes exclusive comment from former Tottenham scout Bryan King.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Mitrovic to be ‘a danger’ for Spurs as £26m deal eyed

Aleksandar Mitrovic is another player who has been linked with a move to Tottenham over the last few days.

The N17 outfit could be set for a battle with the likes of Manchester United to secure the 30-year-old’s signature, with Al-Hilal thought to be expecting a fee of around £26million for him.

The Serbian frontman will be no stranger to the Spurs faithful, having previously enjoyed stints in the Premier League with Newcastle and Fulham, where he was prolific across a five-year spell.

Mitrovic plays the game on the edge, and his frustration can get the better of him at times, as he is capable of producing the odd moment of madness.

However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that he could be a major threat for Spurs, although his arrival may unsettle the strikers already at the club.

“I think he (Mitrovic) is a good player,” King said.

“When he’s in the right frame of mind, he’s a danger. He was a big danger when he was at Fulham; he scored goals, and he’s done it in the Premier League.

“He’s still playing for Serbia, and he’s still a threat when he plays, at any level.

“Spurs have got Richarlison, you’ve got Solanke and potentially now Mitrovic. So somebody’s not going to be very happy, are they?”

Mitrovic could be a gamble worth taking for Tottenham

Richarlison’s possible exit means that Tottenham are likely to need a new striker this summer, and Mitrovic could be an excellent option for them.

He seemingly wouldn’t cost an extortionate fee, and he already has a proven track record of finding the back of the net in the Premier League.

The Serbian has been equally prolific in Saudi Arabia, which shows he has maintained his previous Fulham form, despite the undoubted drop off in level.

His previous disciplinary record provides an extra element for Frank and Co. to consider before going ahead with any potential deal, but it could be worthwhile for them to gamble on the 30-year-old keeping his cool, in order to land a player of such threat.

Mitrovic is a player who wears his heart on his sleeve and gives everything for the cause, and he could be the perfect man to lead the line for Frank’s new-look side next term.

Morgan Rogers signs – Which midfielder Frank could sell to fund Tottenham deal

Description

Tottenham outgoings are inevitable this summer as Thomas Frank continues to push for fresh reinforcements.

Spurs have already let multiple youngsters, including Jamie Donley, leave on loan to gain more gametime, and permanent exits could happen in the coming weeks.

Son Heung-min looks set to be the first major permanent departure of the summer, and the likes of Cristian Romero have been linked with an exit.

With Morgan Rogers linked with a switch to the Lilywhites from Premier League rivals Aston Villa, this transfer could spell the end for a fan favourite’s time in North London.

Dejan Kulusevski to make way for Rogers

Tottenham look to be considering a move for Rogers this summer after missing out on Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White [GiveMeSport].

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Lilywhites have already signed Mohammed Kudus in a statement £55million move, but don’t look to be stopping there as they look to strengthen their forward line.

Should a potential £100million deal materialise for Rogers, Kulusevski could find his time in North London limited.

The Swedish attacker has become a fan favourite at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but has seen his form dip slightly as he has suffered from injuries.

Frank won’t be keen to keep an injury-prone midfielder in his first-team squad and could look to offload him in the coming weeks.

The 25-year-old is still nowhere near returning to action after undergoing patella surgery last season. However, should his fitness improve towards the end of the transfer window, offers could come in for the former Juventus man.

Kulusevski’s time with the Lilywhites has been memorable, but it is now time for Frank to move on from injury-prone players, and replacing the Swede with Rogers could be a worthwhile move.

Rogers to boost Tottenham

Should Rogers sign, he would help the Lilywhites compete for the top six again.

His lower injury risk would allow him to have more impact on the Spurs squad, and Frank could make him the main man up front.

With Son departing, there is already a need for another attacker, and Rogers seems to fit the bill perfectly.

Tottenham consider record Morgan Rogers deal – How does he compare to James Maddison?

Description

Tottenham are now searching for a potential replacement for James Maddison for the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.

The attacking midfielder had been in Thomas Frank’s plans, but this changed on Sunday.

Maddison was stretchered off against Newcastle in a pre-season friendly, with fears that he could be out for the majority of the season.

Therefore, Frank is searching for a replacement, with Morgan Rogers linked with a move to Tottenham.

Therefore, Tottenham Hotspur News has analysed the two England internationals to see how they compare.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Maddison outranks Rogers in multiple stats

It has been reported that Tottenham may have to pay £100 million to acquire Rogers this summer.

The Aston Villa ace is on the back of his best season yet, picking up 30 goal contributions in all competitions.

However, according to Fbref (5 August), he may not be an ideal Maddison replacement.

The Spurs star has better stats in multiple areas, including his creative and attacking output.

However, Rogers’ stats may be affected by his versatility, given that Unai Emery plays the 23-year-old on the wing as well as an attacking midfielder.

Nevertheless, it is no doubt a concern that the Aston Villa man may not be able to provide a better output than Maddison.

Frank should pursue other targets over Rogers

If Frank were to follow through with his interest in Rogers, he would no doubt cost Tottenham a ton.

On top of the touted £100m fee, Rogers could cost Spurs an additional £20m in wages.

This is not a risk Frank should consider taking, and there are plenty of better options available to Spurs.

Hopefully, if a Maddison replacement is brought in, it is someone who could realistically replicate his output without costing record sums.

Pape Matar Sarr hailed as Tottenham fear mooted

Pape Matar Sarr hailed as Tottenham fear mooted - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Pape Matar Sarr has enjoyed a strong pre-season for Tottenham under Thomas Frank.

Sarr has become a staple in Spurs’ midfield since impressing Ange Postecoglou during his first season.

But while he has been one of the first names on the team sheet in recent months, there has been doubt on whether this would continue under a new manager.

This article includes exclusive comments from Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham.

Sarr should not be ‘fearful’ of his spot at Tottenham

Joao Palhinha’s arrival at Hotspur Way could see numerous players questioning their place at Spurs next season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The midfield has talent in abundance, and adding extra competition to the mix may not go down well with some senior players.

However, after impressing during pre-season, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that Sarr has nothing to fear.

“Frank mentioned Sarr specifically after the Arsenal game,” Wenham said.

“He’s someone who’s really impressed me. Therefore, I think we could see Sarr having another really big season at the club. I think he’ll certainly be one in among the squad.

“However, with Palhinha joining the club, someone that I’m delighted with and one that I think instantly improves the starting XI, others will be fearful of their places, but I’m not sure that applies to the Sarr.

“I can see Sarr certainly staying at the club long term and featuring significantly across all competitions.”

Sarr still has everything to prove at Tottenham

When a new manager comes in, it is normally as if a fresh slate has been administered.

Whether or not a player had performed well under the new coach is irrelevant – everyone needs to earn their place once again.

Of course, there are exceptions to this rule. World-class talents often find that their previous resume speaks for itself. But generally, under a different manager, players need to prove that they can perform in their system.

Sarr has already done a good job of this during pre-season and has earned nothing but praise from Frank. But while pre-season can give an indication, official games will set in stone his role for the new season.

Sarr must continue this form into the next few months, or he could lose his starting spot as quickly as it was handed to him.

How much Rogers deal could cost Tottenham in total amid transfer latest - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham are keen to bolster their attack this summer, with Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers linked with a move.

Rogers rose up the ranks in the Villa squad after departing Middlesbrough 18 months ago and could now be set for a big-money move.

The 23-year-old was a crucial player for Unai Emery’s side last season. As a result, several Premier League sides have taken notice, with Spurs looking to make a move.

Morgan Rogers to cost Tottenham at least £119.5million in total

Thomas Frank has been keen to add to his attack, having already signed Mohammed Kudus for £55million this summer.

Morgan Gibbs-White looked set to join the Ghanaian through the door, but that move ultimately fell through.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Son Heung-min’s exit is set to be officially confirmed. Therefore, the Lilywhites are eyeing a move for Rogers, according to GiveMeSport (5 August).

Villa would demand £100m for the forward, and once you factor in his potential wages, the sum would be eye-watering for Spurs supporters.

According to Capology, Rogers is on £75,000 a week in the Midlands, which equates to £3.9m a season.

Given that the youngster is tied down to a five-year contract at the Villans, it would be expected that the Lilywhites would match or even increase his high wages and would match his five-year deal.

Once his wages and transfer fee are added together, Spurs would be paying at least £119.5m for the forward across a potential half a decade stay – and that’s if he doesn’t get a pay increase, which seems unlikely.

Tottenham prospect will excite Rogers

With high earner Son leaving Spurs, there will be plenty of wages left for the Lilywhites to convince Rogers to come to North London.

The forward is on quite a low wage for his level of football, and should he join Tottenham, they have the potential to make him the highest earner at the club.

Frank is clearly keen to add more firepower up top this summer, and Rogers has the potential to become the main man for Spurs.

Rogers would no doubt go some way in alleviating supporters’ disappointment from last season’s poor domestic campaign.

Thomas Frank will be delighted by the latest arrival at Tottenham.

The Dane has made a promising start to life in North London, having not lost a single pre-season fixture as of yet.

From an exciting opener against Reading to a blockbuster showing against Arsenal, Frank has won over the majority of Spurs supporters.

However, concerns still exist over the new season, which Frank will hope to put to rest with his newest addition.

This article includes exclusive comments from Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Joao Palhinha to form ‘strong’ partnership with centre-back duo

There have been question marks surrounding Joao Palhinha, who has joined Tottenham on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich.

These mostly stem from his age and ability to adapt to Spurs within a short space of time. However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that he will boost the squad’s defensive capabilities next season.

“We’re now going to have a proper leader in the team,” Wenham said.

“Somebody who starts for Portugal when fit. We can have him sit in front of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven; it will be one of the best defensive triangles you will find in the Premier League this season.

“It means that when we play a Chelsea, a Manchester City, an Arsenal or Liverpool away, Frank could drop in Rodrigo Bentancur and Palhinha in front of that defensive line. Not many goals are going in there, that’s very, very strong.”

Palhinha could be important for Tottenham

While his age is worrisome, with age comes experience, and Palhinha seems to have that in abundance.

He was electric at Fulham and was a bright spark in their midfield that few teams had answers to. With Yves Bissouma expected to leave Hotspur Way this summer, his expertise will be needed more than ever.

During pre-season, Tottenham have already shown glimpses of defensive coherency, which Frank strives to achieve. With Palhinha, the Dane could achieve an unprecedented level of defensive stability provided his best players remain fit.

The Portuguese midfielder is always willing to enter duels, protect his defensive line and play out from the back. This would offer van de Ven and Romero a little more freedom going forward, but would make Frank less reliant on them to bail his team out of difficult situations.

Therefore, it would not be surprising to see Palhinha become a permanent member of the squad after next season.
