‘Richarlison to leave Tottenham’ after £50m transfer update – Exclusive - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Richarlison’s three-year spell at Tottenham is set to end as the club look to cash in this summer.

It was widely reported that the 28-year-old rejected a move to Saudi Arabia last summer in hopes of locking down a place at Spurs, but those prospects have gradually dissipated.

The striker only mustered 15 Premier League appearances last season as injuries continued to haunt him.

Thomas Frank was brought in to increase Tottenham’s competitiveness across multiple competitions, and the Dane is unlikely to be willing to rely on a player who is often unavailable.

The North Londoners have targeted several forwards this summer, with the latest update casting further doubt on Richarlison’s future.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham to make £50m bid for Mohammed Kudus

Tottenham’s pursuit of a wide forward has encouraged them to prepare a £50m bid for West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus, as reported by The Guardian (18 June).

The Ghana international fits the profile of player that Frank wants to bring in, with Bryan Mbeumo, whom the Dane successfully turned into one of the leading forwards in the Premier League at Brentford, also linked to Tottenham.

However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that the initial bid will be below West Ham’s valuation, with Kudus’ release clause set at £85m, but that it points towards Richarlison leaving Spurs.

“It is going to take more than £50m to sign Kudus,” King said.

“West Ham paid £42m for him originally. Therefore, if a deal is going to be agreed between Tottenham and West Ham, it won’t be £50m. Why shouldn’t West Ham hold out for the £85m, that is the release clause?

“If they could sign a player for £42m and sell him for more than double, that would be good business. Kudus was happy to sign that contract, West Ham were happy to sign that contract, and Tottenham are going to come in with an offer of £50m. However, this does point toward Richarlison leaving.”

Kudus’ versatility makes him an ultimate weapon for Frank

Frank’s approach at Spurs remains to be seen, but if his time with the Bees is anything to go by, he is expected to employ multiple formations, each of which suits Kudus.

In the typical 4-3-3 formation that Tottenham employed last season, Kudus would likely occupy the right and offer Tottenham a different dynamic with his exceptional dribbling and ball-carrying.

However, should the Dane adopt a 5-3-2 shape, the former Ajax star’s direct running and surprisingly good aerial ability could see him line up alongside a striker, like Dominic Solanke, and play off him with his pace and keen eye for goal.

The 24-year-old’s versatility would allow Frank to change formations between and during games, and could prove to be his best weapon at Tottenham.

Tottenham ready formal offer for Sunderland star to address major squad concern

Description

Daniel Levy has a major squad concern to address this summer at Tottenham.

After winning the UEFA Europa League, Tottenham supporters will be keen to see their club continue to lift trophies under Thomas Frank.

With that in mind, there have been some high-profile players linked with a move to North London this summer, such as Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.

However, there is also an issue within the squad that needs addressing, and Tottenham could turn to Sunderland to do this.

Tottenham are lining up an offer for Dennis Cirkin

As reported by The Northern Echo (22 June), Tottenham are keen to negotiate the re-signing of Dennis Cirkin from Sunderland this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

In part, this is because Tottenham view the 23-year-old as a young talent with considerable development potential. However, it is also so that they can address their lack of club-trained players.

UEFA Champions League rules state that competing teams must have at least four ‘club-trained’ players within their squad. A club-trained player is a player who has spent at least three full seasons at a club between the ages of 15 and 21.

Crikin would satisfy this criteria after joining Spurs’ academy before featuring for the Under-16s, and with that in mind, Tottenham are lining up a formal offer which would see Sunderland make a respectable profit on a player who was a main protagonist in their Premier League promotion campaign.

When Tottenham sold Cirkin to Sunderland, Levy included a buy-back clause in the deal. However, this clause has now expired, which means Tottenham will need to be ready to negotiate, as Sunderland do not want to lose Cirkin, as he is a key part of Regis Le Bris’ plans next season.

Djed Spence could be sidelined at Tottenham

Djed Spence has mainly played as a right-back throughout his career, but was converted into a left-back at Spurs last season.

The addition of Cirkin could see him struggle for minutes against an already stacked Tottenham defence. While the 24-year-old could become a second option for Pedro Porro if the Sunderland defender arrives, this may not satisfy him.

Indeed, Spence demonstrated his ability to consistently play at the top level when filling in for Destiny Udogie. He is as lethal going forward as he is at defending at the back. Therefore, as a player of his quality, he could opt to leave Spurs in search of gametime.

Gareth Bale to ‘lean on’ Tottenham after huge takeover news – Exclusive

Description

Gareth Bale is one of several players to leave Tottenham and move on to stardom away from the North London club.

The forward was a slow burner at the start of his Spurs career, but Bale became a Premier League icon before moving to Real Madrid.

Another former Tottenham man who went on to achieve greatness was Luka Modrić, who went on to win the Ballon d’Or in 2018.

Modric became an investor and minority co-owner of Swansea City, and now Bale is linked with a similar role at Cardiff City.

Tottenham chairman Levy to help Bale if he takes role at Cardiff City

There was talk that Bale was set to front a US-based private equity group’s potential takeover of Plymouth Argyle.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, more recent reports state that the Welshman approached to buy Cardiff City instead, although it was said to have been rejected.

Football finance expert Dan Plumley has provided insight on the proposed approach while speaking exclusively to Tottenham News.

“When people break cover and say they’re interested in fronting up talks, like the link to Gareth Bale, often football club takeovers generally happen behind closed doors, rather than out in public display.

“We still need to take it with a pinch of salt, notwithstanding that if there is any truth in it, and something is going on behind the scenes, then yes, it’s perfectly plausible that Bale will lean on some contacts that he’s got throughout his network.

“We know that that’s how the football industry works in terms of, you’re only one or two phone calls away from the next person, and it is quite a small network.

“Of course, Spurs or Levy can’t be directly involved with anything in terms of conflict of interest, but you’re likely to lean on the network where you can.

“What we’ve seen from the footballers being involved is that it’s more about leveraging a piece of celebrity endorsement, in a way.

“You would still want a good management structure around that, you still need the financial backing. You need very deep pockets and people who know how to work across all aspects of the game.

“It’s more about the fronting of it and the leverage that can bring, rather than them being involved in the day-to-day running.”

Which former footballers are involved in the running of clubs?

If Bale is successful in his venture, then he will follow several British footballers who are already involved with clubs.

David Beckham is the co-owner and public face of Inter Miami and played an instrumental role in bringing Lionel Messi to the American club.

Gary Neville and several other Man United players own a majority stake in League Two outfit Salford City.

Bale looks like he could be next.

‘Son Heung-min exit close’ as official Tottenham footage shared – Exclusive - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Son Heung-min’s legendary Tottenham career could finally be set to come to an end.

Son lifted the UEFA Europa League last season after spending almost a decade searching for silverware with Tottenham.

Speculation surrounding the South Korean’s future has peaked these last few weeks, and Tottenham News understands that Son has a 50 per cent chance of leaving North London this summer.

And it seems lifting the Europa League will be the best send-off imaginable after new developments point toward that 50 per cent likelihood becoming a 100 per cent certainty.

Thomas Frank omits Son from first interview at Tottenham

Tottenham appointed Thomas Frank as Ange Postecoglou’s replacement earlier this month, and it seems the 51-year-old has already decided on a plan of action.

MORE SPURS STORIES

While speaking in his first interview with Tottenham (18 June), Spurs’ new head coach discussed his plans and the players he was excited to work with.

Frank named several Spurs stars, including Dominic Solanke, but there was no mention of Son.

And Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that this omission suggests Son will leave this summer.

“One key point from that video is that there was no Son,” Wenham said.

“Frank didn’t make any mention of Son, and they showed some old clips of the players in training from last season, but Son wasn’t part of those clips, which I found interesting.

“Therefore, perhaps we’re seeing a changing of the guard at Tottenham, and Son is going to depart this summer, which would mean someone taking over as captain.”

Tottenham should not stand in Son’s way if he wants to leave

Son has spent the best years of his career with Tottenham in the hope of securing silverware, while others left to find success elsewhere.

Now that the 32-year-old has completed his mission, the Lilywhites should not act as an obstacle if he wants to leave this summer.

Tottenham signed Son for £22million from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, and he has more than paid back that fee. From sponsorships and winning silverware to his performances on the pitch, Son has been a loyal servant to Spurs.

Therefore, Son should be allowed to play for whatever club he wishes next season.

Sheffield Utd ready to sign Tottenham defender as Frank makes transfer decision

Description

Tottenham need to add more depth to their squad in the transfer market, but internal solutions will also play a part.

Ange Postecoglou suffered from a lack of depth to help cope with injuries last season, which ultimately led to the Australian’s dismissal, and Thomas Frank will hope to avoid a similar fate.

Tottenham are back in the UEFA Champions League next year, but will need to reinforce their squad across a variety of positions.

Depth at centre-back was an issue last season as Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven both missed a lot of games. However, Tottenham might already have an ideal solution.

Frank wants to keep Ashley Phillips amid transfer interest

Spurs have several exciting young prospects rising through the ranks, and Ashley Phillips is held in high regard at the club.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Phillips spent last season on loan at Championship side Stoke City and was impressive as he made 39 appearances across all competitions.

The 19-year-old performed so well that several clubs want to sign him, but Frank has other plans.

As reported by Alan Nixon via his Patreon (22 June), Frank is a big admirer of Phillips and wants to keep him in his squad next season, despite Sheffield United’s interest in signing the centre-back.

The Blades were one of a number of Championship clubs keen on signing Phillips on loan, with Stoke City also interested in a return. However, Frank has put off interested parties.

Phillips can feature regularly next season

Spurs will have a lot of games next season as they return to the Champions League, and will have to rotate a lot at centre-back across all competitions.

This means that despite Romero and van de Ven nailing down the starting spots, there will be plenty of regular minutes for the backup options.

Kevin Danso and Phillips are set to be the main cover, and if Frank switches to a back-three formation, both will have a huge part to play.

Phillips is a top prospect at centre-back, and will add a lot of height to the defence at 1.98 metres tall. Therefore, he will hope to be given a run in pre-season as Frank makes his mark on the squad.

Mohammed Kudus could make a sensational move across London by swapping West Ham United for Tottenham.

Thomas Frank has prioritised bringing in a proven Premier League forward to Spurs as Son Heung-min looks increasingly likely to leave North London.

Tottenham have been exploring big-money moves for Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo, with Kudus emerging as the latest target in recent days.

Managerial changes at West Ham last year resulted in the Ghanaian struggling to replicate his excellent first season, opening the door for Tottenham to swoop in as news of talks emerges.

Tottenham open talks to sign Kudus

Kudus’ release clause is set at £85million, although according to The Standard (20 June), this is only active for the first 10 days of July.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It has accelerated the Lilywhites’ approach, with the North London club now hastily discussing bringing Kudus to Tottenham, according to the Daily Mail, page 71 (20 June).

Spurs are hoping that the former Ajax forward’s disgruntlement last season and the allure of a return to the UEFA Champions League will be enough to tempt the talented player away from the London Stadium.

An initial bid of £50million is expected to be tabled, [The Guardian]. However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that a figure closer to £70m will be needed to secure Kudus’ signature.

“I don’t think £85m will be the final figure at the finish,” King said.

“I think it will be somewhere around the £70m mark, but it will be a considerable amount of money. However, if West Ham are going to lose a player of that quality, they need to replace him.

“West Ham should hold out for the £85m. If that deters Tottenham, I don’t know, but £50m is a bit of a derogatory offer if you ask me, because Levy knows what the release clause is.”

Kudus arguably the riskiest target so far for Tottenham

Kudus’s two years with West Ham have shown the best and worst of the 24-year-old.

The Hammers star has matched his unique dribbling abilities and skill with an eye for a spectacular goal, and has a knack for finding himself in the right area at the right time.

However, disciplinary issues, including punching Micky van de Ven last November, and general demeanour when things aren’t going well, could potentially harm Tottenham.

The Lilywhites will hope that Frank’s man management will see Kudus flourish at Hotspur Way and reach his high ceiling, but should be mindful of the playmaker’s low floor.

Description

Tottenham fans are keenly awaiting new additions this summer after a terrible 2024/25 Premier League campaign.

With Ange Postecoglou sacked and Thomas Frank through the door, there is an expectation that players will quickly be brought in.

Tottenham have already made two additions, with Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel becoming permanent signings at Spurs.

However, fresh faces are needed, as Frank looks to overhaul his squad ready for the new Premier League campaign, with the added pressure of Champions League football.

Frank to sign up to three players

Tottenham have been linked with a host of stars since Frank was brought into the London club.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs have shown interest in Bryan Mbeumo as Frank looks to raid his former employers. On top of this, Tottenham have been linked with Xavi Simons, who has impressed at RB Leipzig.

However, no major moves have happened yet, which has got the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faithful nervous about when potential additions could arrive.

Now, according to Football London’s correspondent Alasdair Gold (22 June), Spurs are likely to make “two or three signings” before their first friendly.

He said: “The club moved pretty quickly when Postecoglou was appointed two years ago, so hopefully they spring into action soon.

“I’d expect two or three signings by that point, but that might depend on some outgoings as well to ensure there’s the space, more than anything. Technically, I think the first friendly though will be around July 19.”

Tottenham need new additions as soon as possible

Tottenham cannot waste any time when looking to make new additions this summer.

The earlier signings are brought into the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the more time they will have to adapt to the squad and Frank’s tactics.

This is vital for the London club if they are to get their Premier League campaign off to a good start and quickly put last season’s dire domestic performances behind them.

Daniel Levy, therefore, has to approve new additions as soon as possible to ensure this becomes a reality.

If not, Spurs could be left behind in the first few matches of the upcoming campaign, which is simply unacceptable.

Tottenham ‘to offer Branthwaite £150,000-per-week-plus’ as contract talks underway

Tottenham could splash the cash on Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite this summer.

Branthwaite’s reputation as one of the Premier League’s leading young centre-backs has piqued the interest of both Tottenham and Chelsea.

Spurs’ pursuit of the 22-year-old will hinge on what happens with Cristian Romero, who could leave the North London club amid interest from Atletico Madrid.

The transfer fee that Everton are likely to command could eclipse the £65million Tottenham paid for Dominic Solanke last summer, while Branthwaite’s recent contract talks will only further add to the huge outlay for the defender.

Branthwaite in contract extension talks with Everton

David Moyes is keen to quash any move for his star defender as the Merseyside club prepare to open their Premier League campaign on a high at their new stadium.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Daniel Levy now faces a race against time to secure Branthwaite after it was reported in the Liverpool Echo (19 June) that the Toffees have opened contract talks with the centre-back.

It puts Spurs in an awkward position, as they are unlikely to sanction the move before the futures of other players are decided or Thomas Frank has had the opportunity to properly assess the squad.

They also have to sell the project to Branthwaite. However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that the Lilywhites could at least better Everton’s contract offer.

“Tottenham need to offer better terms than Everton,” King said.

“That is the only way they’re going to be able to sign him. Everton will need to offer Branthwaite around £150,000-per-week if they want to keep him at the football club.

“However, I’m sure that Tottenham will be able to offer more than that. Although Spurs do have quite a few central defenders on the books already. Romero, Micky van de Ven, Kevin Danso, and Ben Davies, who can also play there.

“Someone will need to go to make way for a player of that cost. You can’t bring in Branthwaite and tell him he’s going to be a regular when you’ve already got all those players at centre-back.”

Branthwaite is the perfect profile for Spurs

There are very few players who are a natural fit for a club, but Branthwaite certainly comes close on the surface.

The centre-back is a colossus in the air, which Tottenham’s current back line lacks despite Micky Van de Ven‘s height, and is also very capable of playing out the back, akin to Frank’s philosophy.

He has Premier League experience, but at 22, he also has plenty of room to grow.

Description

Archie Gray was somehow an unused substitute for Lee Carsley on Saturday night, as England progressed in the under-21 Euros.

After finishing second in their group, England faced favourites Spain in the quarter-finals and managed to breeze through with a 3-1 win.

A semi-final against the Netherlands lies ahead on Wednesday (25 June), and Gray will be hoping he has the opportunity to get onto the pitch and continue his Tottenham form.

Gray reacts after England Euro message

Carsley’s men got off to a strong start against Spain, taking the lead after just 10 minutes through James McAtee, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham.

Harvey Elliott doubled the score just five minutes later, which thankfully gave England some breathing space when the opposition scored a penalty just before half-time.

MORE SPURS STORIES

England were forced to keep their standards high to keep their lead and were rewarded for their efforts in the 94th minute when Elliot Anderson put the game to bed with a penalty to win 3-1.

Meanwhile, Spain were reduced to 10 men after seeing a red card, leading to a melee at full time.

The young England side are now one game from the finals of the competition, although all thoughts will first be on the semi-final against the Netherlands in the week.

The Dutch beat Portugal 1-0 in their quarter-final, despite an early red card themselves.

England are seemingly ready for the challenge that lies ahead, though, as Charlie Cresswell, who played the full 90 minutes, took to Instagram to say: “Let’s keep it moving.”

Gray showed his support for his England youth and former Leeds teammate by liking the post.

Gray wants to shine for England

After joining Tottenham from Leeds last summer, Gray has probably done much more than expected in his first season in North London.

In what was a difficult campaign for the Lilywhites, who were plagued by injuries, the 19-year-old stepped up to put in some strong performances.

What’s more, given he was also forced to play out of position in defence for much of the season, he is well deserving of plenty of praise.

With Thomas Frank now the new Spurs boss, everyone at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be hoping to impress and earn themselves a space in his side.

If Gray can get an opportunity in the game against the Netherlands, he will have to use it as an opportunity to show his new manager the talent that he has, given that he is already a fan.

Mikey Moore sends two-word message as new Tottenham contract announced - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Mikey Moore is no doubt one of Tottenham’s best upcoming talents.

The 17-year-old progressed through Spurs’ academy and made multiple first-team appearances last season.

Moore has recently been linked with a loan move to West Brom after Ryan Mason became the Baggies manager.

Nevertheless, Tottenham are looking to extend Moore’s contract as well as many other starlets in the academy.

Moore reacts to Dante Cassanova’s new Tottenham contract

Tottenham have made a bad habit of letting many of their talented youth players go without them fulfilling their potential.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Max Robson is set to leave Spurs at the end of June, with multiple other upcoming stars also set to depart.

However, Tottenham have now secured the future of Dante Cassanova who has signed a new contract with the London club.

The 20-year-old is seen as a bright, upcoming talent and was named in the matchday squad in October when Spurs played Ferencvaros in the Europa League.

The defender captained the Under-21s side on several occasions last season, and his new contract will run until 2027.

Cassanova quickly announced his delight about his contract extension on Instagram (20 June) as he posted a photo of the signing with the caption: “The work continues”.

Moore was quick to respond to the post, commenting: “My boy” with a red heart.

Spurs need to do more to secure their upcoming talents

Now that Cassanova’s contract is sorted, Tottenham need to offer further deals to their upcoming stars.

Spurs’ academy is the future of the London club, and Tottenham have produced multiple fantastic talents over the years.

This was largely ignored by Ange Postecoglou, with the Australian rarely dipping into the youth.

This needs to change under Thomas Frank if Spurs are to become a stable, top Premier League side.

Hopefully, Cassanova’s new deal is a sign that Tottenham’s youth will be taken more seriously this season.
