Description

Daniel Levy has piled further pressure on himself after his recent comments at Tottenham.

Tottenham lost several key midfielders to injury last season, with James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall both forced to watch the UEFA Europa League final from the sidelines.

These injuries showcased the need for increased squad depth at Tottenham, with Levy now urged to bring Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton to North London.

Levy claims Tottenham want to win the Premier League

Tottenham are set to embark on a new era after replacing Ange Postecoglou with Thomas Frank.

This isn’t the only major change in North London, with Vinai Venkatesham arriving to work alongside Levy as Tottenham Chief Executive Officer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

On Wednesday (18 June), Tottenham uploaded a sit-down interview featuring Levy and Venkatesham, in which the former made his desires clear.

Levy said, “We’ve won a European trophy, but it’s not enough.”

“It’s what we haven’t done that’s more important. We need to win the league, we want to win the Premier League, we want to win the Champions League. We want to win.”

As a result, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Levy needs to put his money where his mouth his, and sign an established defensive midfielder, such as Wharton.

“Tottenham need to sign a top-class holding midfielder this summer,” Wenham said.

“That needs to be a priority. Wharton is an option in that position. He would be a great signing. Tottenham will need to stump up the cash, as I’m sure it would take big money.

“However, if Levy is talking about wanting to win the Premier League and Champions League, these are the players he needs to go out and sign to give Tottenham a chance of doing that.”

Wharton could be an excellent signing

Wharton is considered one of the best holding midfield talents football has to offer at the moment.

The former Blackburn star has a contract with Palace until 2029. Therefore, Levy will need to be prepared to spend big. However, signing Wharton could be what takes Tottenham to the next level.

The 22-year-old’s playing style is defined by his excellent tactical intelligence and purposeful movements, all of which would help Tottenham to build out from the back next season.

There is no doubt that Wharton would fit Frank like a glove if allowed to prove himself. As a result, if Levy wants the Premier League, this is the calibre of player Tottenham need to sign.

‘Paratici has already got to work’ as Tottenham prepare £21m+ transfer offer

Description

Fabio Paratici appears to already be pulling the strings ahead of a potential return to Tottenham.

Paratici was forced to step down from his role as Tottenham Managing Director after he was handed a 30-month ban from worldwide footballing activities.

The Italian has been widely linked with a return to Tottenham and is expected to start work in July when his ban is finally lifted. However, it appears that the 52-year-old is already making moves in N17.

Tottenham prepare £21million bid for Giovanni Leoni

As reported by CaughtOffside on Friday (20 June), Tottenham are considering making an opening offer in the region of £21million for Giovanni Leoni.

Scouts in North London have been monitoring the Parma defender in recent times.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Leoni is under contract until 2029. However, Tottenham could still make an offer for the 18-year-old in a deal which appears to have Paratici’s fingerprints all over it.

With Paratici’s close links to Italy in mind, he is most likely the brains behind the transfer.

But Spurs will need to act fast, as Napoli, Inter Milan, and AC Milan are all interested. Tottenham also face competition from Bournemouth and Wolves, who are keen to bring him to the Premier League.

Tottenham should secure Leoni this summer

Leoni is an opportunity too good for Daniel Levy to pass up this summer.

Standing at six feet and five inches, the defender is monstrous in the air and capable of playing with both feet. He has often been praised for his strong, agile and modern style of play.

Furthermore, Leoni excels specifically in the build-up and can cover a lot of ground by utilising his elite passing range. He is comfortable playing on the right or centre when in a back three and is praised for his composure on the ball.

However, he will unlikely be a signing for the near future.

Micky van de Ven is expected to remain at Tottenham, and while Romero’s future is up in the air, Tottenham would likely replace their star centre-back with a more experienced defender.

However, Leoni is a talented young player that Levy should look to sign, especially if he has been recommended by Paratici.

Description

Tottenham will be looking to improve their defence next season after appointing former Brentford boss Thomas Frank.

Ange Postecoglou’s woes in the Premier League led Daniel Levy to pull the plug on his tenure at the North London outfit, despite the Europa League triumph.

Cristian Romero could leave Spurs this summer transfer window, with some quality teams interested in him, and the Lilywhites will undoubtedly be worried about their defensive situation going into the upcoming campaign.

Dante Cassanova signs new contract at Tottenham

Tottenham youngster Dante Cassanova has signed a new contract at Hotspur Way.

Spurs announced on X (20 June) that the 20-year-old versatile defender has signed a new deal that runs until 2027.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Jamaican national has progressed through the youth setup at the North London outfit and captained the Under-21s on several occasions last season.

Dante can play at centre-back, full-back and midfield, and was part of Tottenham’s first-team squad in the Premier League and the Europa League in recent months.

With the young defender extending his stay in North London, it remains to be seen what the future holds for him under Frank and whether a loan move may be sanctioned to further his development.

Frank must transform Tottenham defence next season

Romero’s potential exit from Spurs presents a major headache for the club ahead of next season, as the Argentine World Cup winner is arguably the best centre-back in N17.

Micky van de Ven has shown his qualities at the North London outfit, but his consistent fitness issues are more worrying than those of the former Atalanta defender.

Postecoglou was forced to play Archie Gray as a centre-back for a significant spell last season, which arguably played a role as Tottenham struggled domestically.

Spurs conceded 65 goals in the Premier League last season and had a goal difference of minus one as they finished 17th in the table.

Frank will likely have to make numerous changes to the North London outfit’s defensive setup ahead of next season to improve their prospects.

Tottenham could also sell Radu Dragusin in the coming months, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see a massive revamp at centre-back this summer.

While Dante has shown a lot of potential at Spurs, it’s unlikely that he will play a big role under the Danish manager next season, and the youngster’s situation in N17 is one to keep an eye on.

Daniel Levy ‘about to make another Tottenham howler’ after £21m+ transfer news

Description

Daniel Levy has overseen some dreadful transfers during his reign as Tottenham Chairman.

Levy is known for his pragmatic approach to transfer dealings. However, the 63-year-old hasn’t always got things right in North London.

There have been plenty of high-profile mistakes over the years, such as the signings of Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso.

And it looks as though Levy could be set to make yet another mistake at Tottenham.

Tottenham are interested in defensive midfielder Richard Ríos

As reported by Eduardo Burgos (18 June), Tottenham are interested in a move for Richard Ríos from Palmeiras this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Premier League clubs Crystal Palace and Newcastle United are also keen on the Colombian, whose contract runs until 2028.

The midfielder will cost a little over £21million. However, Palmeiras do not need to, nor are they in a hurry, to sell the player. Tottenham need defensive reinforcements in the midfield, but signing Ríos could come back to haunt Levy.

The 25-year-old first entered the scene through Flamengo’s Under-20s team before he was loaned to Mexican side Mazatlán. He then spent a year with Flamengo before leaving on a free transfer to Guarani and finally signed for his current side, Palmeiras.

The biggest concern that arises is that he has not left South America in all his years as a professional player. It would be a huge risk for Levy to sign Ríos, who may struggle to adapt to the pace of the Premier League, and could be looked back on as yet another transfer howler under Levy’s watch in North London.

Tottenham should seek Hayden Hackney as an alternative to Ríos

Tottenham have been linked to Hayden Hackney as a viable option for their midfield next season.

The Middlesbrough midfielder could prove a better to be a better signing than Ríos this summer. He is three years younger than the Colombian and already has plenty of experience in English football.

Hackney was a stand-out player in the Championship last season. Therefore, the Premier League seems like the logical next step in his career progression.

Furthermore, he would fit Spurs like a glove. Hackney is known for his progressive passing, impressive ball retention and ability to contribute offensively and defensively in the midfield.

For a Tottenham side with high-level output players up front, his profile could be important in the buildup to help unlock his teammates. Therefore, Levy should consider all factors before commiting to a defensive midfield signing this summer.

Tottenham are set to lose a talented youngster to Premier League heavyweights Manchester City.

Tottenham have been battling Manchester United for various targets this season, including Brentford forward Bryan Mbuemo.

In addition, the UEFA Europa League final and an off-field legal battle involving Manchester United’s co-owners, INEOS, mean that most of the Lilywhites’ focus has been on the Red Devils in recent months.

However, it looks as though it is Manchester City who are about to deal the Lilywhites a fresh blow.

Dexter Oliver set to sign for Manchester City

As previously reported, 16-year-old Dexter Oliver is set to leave Tottenham after refusing a two-year scholarship offer from the North London club [Lilywhite Rose].

MORE SPURS STORIES

Manchester United and Manchester City were both in the running for his signature. However, it seems Pep Guardiola’s side have come out on top.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano (19 June), Manchester City are advancing in talks to sign Oliver, as part of their strategy to develop top young players.

The talented teenager is thought to have been unsatisfied with how he was used for the Tottenham Under-18s last season.

And Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Roc Nations Sports, who Oliver signed with in March, have played a big part in the youngster refusing an offer from Spurs.

“This is an extremely frustrating situation,” Wenham said.

“As I understand it, Oliver wanted to play the number 10 role, which Luca Williams-Barnett had locked down, a decision you can’t really argue based on his form.

“However, Williams-Barnett is likely to be moving up to the Under-21s next season, so there would have been plenty of chances for Oliver to play in his preferred position for the 18s.

“It is very frustrating because Oliver has been at Tottenham for a while and excelled. However, it seems as though his agents have turned his head, and he will now be joining Manchester City.”

Tottenham need to continue to develop young talents

The Lilywhites would not have won the UEFA Europa League last season without their young core.

Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall emerged as key players while Spurs’ regular starters were injured, with Bergvall working his way up to become one of the most important players in North London.

And now that Thomas Frank has been appointed head coach, several more young players could climb the ranks next season.

Description

Radu Dragusin will hope to impress Tottenham manager Thomas Frank ahead of the new season.

The Romanian centre-back featured 16 times in the Premier League in his second season in English football.

However, he has been out since the end of January with a cruciate ligament injury and missed the Europa League final win as a result.

While he failed to fully convince Ange Postecoglou of his abilities, he has a fresh start under the former Brentford boss.

Dragusin meets with Frank as Tottenham exit likely

The former Genoa defender has had a tough time so far at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

MORE SPURS STORIES

A report from the print edition of the Sun (20 June, page 51) claims that Dragusin has met with the new boss ahead of the new season, along with the rest of the injured players.

It states that while the 23-year-old could thrive under Frank, Sergio Reguilon is set to depart at the end of his contract, with just three full-backs left in North London.

Tottenham can utilise Dragusin if Romero leaves

The 27-cap Romania international has the potential to become a superstar at Spurs, if he is given regular chances in the starting line-up.

His aerial ability and physicality are well-suited to the demands of the top-flight and his the perfect age profile, but they need to be patient, given that he is recovering from a brutal injury.

Eventually, though, he could become the perfect replacement for Cristian Romero, who seems increasingly likely to join Atletico Madrid.

He could save Daniel Levy a fortune if he can make the step up to become a reliable option for Frank, as they would not have to dip into the transfer window and could utilise funds on other areas of the squad.

Whether he can make that step up remains to be seen, but the evidence that we have seen so far should provide encouragement.

One thing is for sure, the Lilywhites should not let him depart this summer, as he has far too much promise, which could come back to haunt the N17 outfit should they allow him to leave.

Mbeumo signs – Which attacker Frank could axe at Tottenham

Mbeumo signs – Which attacker Frank could axe at Tottenham - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Thomas Frank’s directive at Tottenham is to assemble a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts.

Ange Postecoglou’s ultimate downfall was that his team and style of play did not maintain the required level of consistency, especially in the Premier League.

His Danish counterpart has been tasked with correcting this flaw and is looking to adjust the squad at Tottenham accordingly.

The 51-year-old has looked to his former club to bring in a trusted ally in Bryan Mbeumo, which could see a current Spurs player lose his place as a result.

Frank to axe Wilson Odobert for Mbeumo

Brentford are resigned to losing Mbeumo this summer, though the Bees will be hoping to leverage Manchester United’s interest against Tottenham to secure the best deal.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Should Spurs get the deal over the line, it could spell bad news for Wilson Odobert, whose prospects at Hotspur Way would take a huge hit.

The French winger’s career in North London never really kicked off, following a hamstring injury which ruled the former Burnley man out for almost five months.

Following his return, he struggled to lock down a starting spot in the team, and Mbeumo’s arrival would only further doubts over his long-term future in N17.

Odobert is more of a creative and technical winger, whose skillset lies in one-on-one duels. However, his direct goal contributions have been fairly limited, which is something Frank has historically valued highly.

Mbeumo is much more of a direct goal threat and is physically far more developed than the former Burnley man.

His injury record is also less of a concern, and with UEFA Champions League football to contend with, Frank will prioritise robust players who can handle the physical demands that will be required.

Tottenham need to sign a striker

Tottenham possess several exciting young wide players, and the addition of Mbuemo would certainly afford Frank enough options ahead of next season, even with Son Heung-min’s future still unclear.

The position of the striker, however, is less plentiful, especially with Richarlison looking set for an exit this summer.

Solanke was heavily overworked last season and struggled for consistency, much in the image of the team as a whole.

An addition must be brought in to help the England international, particularly one who will complement the players already at Spurs and knit the attacking talent on display together.

Marc Guehi ‘to clear medical’ as Tottenham eye big transfer

Description

Tottenham are reportedly keen on signing Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi this summer.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed the England international’s fitness record ahead of a potential medical.

The 24-year-old’s deal at Selhurst Park runs out at the end of the 2025/26 season.

Guehi expected to clear medical despite knee injury issues

Spurs may look at his knee injury issues in greater detail, but he’s not expected to have issues with his medical, according to Dr Brar.

Bayern Munich and Tottenham are both keen on Guehi and in recent days, Liverpool have shown a serious interest as well.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Discussing the state of play with Guehi exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, shared his verdict.

“Spurs may look closer at his knee to see if there any changes they aren’t comfortable with,” he said.

“However, I do not see it causing issues with his medical.

“He has played in the Premier League for a while and this wear and tear isn’t far from the ordinary so it’s not much to worry about.“

Tottenham signing Guehi would be a solid move

Guehi would be an excellent signing for Tottenham under Thomas Frank due to his defensive reliability, tactical fit, and leadership qualities.

At 24, the Crystal Palace captain brings Premier League experience with over 150 appearances, offering stability to a Spurs defence that struggled with injuries and inconsistency last season.

His composure on the ball and ability to play progressive passes suit Frank’s system, which emphasises discipline and build-up play from the back.

Guehi’s versatility to operate in a back four or three provides tactical flexibility, addressing Tottenham’s need for depth amid concerns over Cristian Romero’s potential departure to Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid.

As an England international and FA Cup-winning captain, Guehi’s leadership and big-match experience would bolster Spurs’ Champions League campaign.

With his contract nearing its end, a move could be cost-effective, making him a smart addition to elevate Tottenham’s defensive resilience and long-term potential.

Tottenham urged to sign £25m Bayern Munich star ahead of Manchester United

Description

Tottenham could look to deal another blow to Manchester United and Ruben Amorim.

Tottenham claimed four victories over Manchester United last season, including a famous 1-0 win in the UEFA Europa League final in Bilbao (21 May).

The Liywhites are already set to compete with United for the signatures of Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo, and have been urged to beat the Red Devils to another potential signing.

Tottenham urged to sign João Palhinha from Bayern Munich

João Palhinha struggled to start consistently for Bayern Munich last season after picking up a muscle injury in November.

The midfielder played just 941 minutes across 24 appearances for the German side and will no doubt be considering a move this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

As reported by Mirror Football, via Football Fancast (9 June), Manchester United are weighing up a move to sign Palhinha, who could be available for just £25million.

However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Spurs should make the midfielder a top priority.

“Tottenham need an experienced defensive midfielder,” Wenham said.

“That should be a priority this summer. I saw reports that Palhinha is available for £25m, and Manchester United are looking at him.

“It should be Tottenham who are looking at him, we’re desperate for a player of his quality.”

Palhinha may not be the right choice for Tottenham

There is no doubt that Tottenham need to add experience this summer. The Lilywhites have been focused on scouting young talent, but the policy could come back to haunt Daniel Levy later down the line.

There are several reasons why Palhinha would be a good buy. The midfielder has played in the UEFA Champions League, which could benefit Spurs hugely during the upcoming campaign.

At 29 years of age, he is also experienced, and the Lilywhites need defensive options in the midfield.

However, while experience comes with age, so does the potential for a swift decline. Palhinha is meant to be in his prime years, but there is little way of knowing how long it could continue. The injuries he suffered this season cannot have helped things at all.

The midfielder also may be unwilling to accept a rotational role, which Spurs will most likely offer him. Therefore, Tottenham should think twice before going for someone whose best years may be behind them.

Richarlison ‘should pack his bags now’ after what Frank said about Tottenham striker

Richarlison ‘should pack his bags now’ after what Frank said about Tottenham striker - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Richarlison will be reconsidering his future at Tottenham following recent comments made by Thomas Frank.

The Brazilian joined Tottenham from Everton in 2022, signing a contract until 2027.

However, countless injuries and inconsistent management have prevented Richarlison from performing consistently in North London.

And it now seems that an exit is closer than ever following recent comments made by Frank.

Frank is a huge fan of Dominic Solanke

Dominic Solanke became Spurs’ record signing when he signed from Bournemouth for £65million last summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The striker scored 16 goals and provided eight assists in 45 appearances last season and started alongside Richarlison in the UEFA Europa League final.

Meanwhile, Richarlison only managed five goals and two assists in 24 appearances, which has brought into question his ability to consistently perform at the highest level.

It now seems that Frank may also be questioning the Brazilian’s place in his team next season.

While speaking in his first interview as Tottenham Head Coach (18 June), Frank said, “Solanke, a big fan of him, in terms of his abilities. I’m sure we’ll make him score a lot of goals,” while failing to make any mention of Richarlison.

The Dane’s comments suggest that Solanke is likely to start over Richarlison next season. As a result, the Brazilian should consider an exit from Tottenham to guarantee first-team football.

Tottenham should sell Richarlison

Richarlison has been linked with a Tottenham exit, and the Lilywhites should seriously consider selling him this summer.

The Brazilian has failed to live up to expectations since his arrival in N17 and spends more time on the sidelines than on the pitch.

With Tottenham heading into the UEFA Champions League next season, the club cannot afford to keep players that are unreliable. However, Richarlison’s injury record may make it more difficult to sell him.

There is no doubt that Richarlison will want to spend his prime years in Europe. However, big European clubs may hesitate to sign him if they cannot depend on his availability. This could see the striker leave on a free transfer once his contract runs out.

Therefore, Tottenham will need to think carefully about how to proceed with the situation to achieve the best outcome for all involved.
