Tottenham squad reacts to Thomas Frank sack news after latest boardroom reveal

Tottenham fans have simply had enough.

Thomas Frank is under severe pressure of the sack, it seems, with many Spurs fans wanting the Dane gone after yet more embarrassment.

Tottenham crashed to a 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, with little fight shown and excuses made after the final whistle.

Despite that, there seems to be little appetite for change in North London.

Tottenham squad verdict on Thomas Frank revealed

Pedro Porro was among many to be called out for his excuses after Spurs’ loss at Forest, with senior players continuing to shift the blame.

Despite that, nothing seems to be changing at Tottenham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Frank may be the one to bite the bullet, but he can’t legislate for continuous mistakes from the likes of Guglielmo Vicario, who, among many, needs to be dropped.

With Frank the favourite to be sacked next in the Premier League, change could be coming.

The Mirror has reported in its print edition on Tuesday that the Tottenham squad are not convinced by their manager’s tactics, presumably shifting the blame again.

However, it is said that the Spurs’ board still support Frank at this stage.

Thomas Frank by the numbers at Tottenham

Frank has lost nine of his 25 games in charge at Tottenham already, and that is far too many.

Ange Postecoglou set new records for defeats in the Premier League during his time in North London, yet he still delivered success in the Europa League.

At this stage, it is still up in the air if Frank can win any silverware this season, with the FA Cup likely his last opportunity already.

With Liverpool and Crystal Palace next to end 2025 in the Premier League, things aren’t going to get any easier for Frank and his position.

Starting 2026 with games against Brentford and Sunderland offer an opportunity, though, and it’s time to stop making excuses and start picking up wins.

Description

Tottenham’s 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest has left supporters furious with Thomas Frank.

Callum Hudson-Odoi’s brace and Ibrahim Sangare’s brilliant strike inflicted a sixth defeat of the Premier League season on Tottenham.

Sunday’s result leaves the Lilywhites sitting 11th in the Premier League, and there is a growing amount of discontent among fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs lacked creativity from open play, while their defensive issues were laid bare as Sean Dyche’s side dominated proceedings throughout the match.

Frank finds himself under pressure at Tottenham, and bringing on defensive substitutions when chasing the game did not help his case.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Thomas Frank got his substitutions completely wrong

Tottenham’s away form has been impressive this season, but Sunday’s match once again highlighted the team’s weak mentality when they go behind in games.

Having said that, Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist believe Frank isn’t helping himself much.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 15 December, Stelling said: “They are losing 2-0 to Forest after an hour, and he chooses to bring on Ben Davies, Joao Palhinha, and Lucas Bergvall in place of Djed Spence, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Archie Gray.

“He’s got Mathys Tel, Brennan Johnson, and Wilson Odobert on the bench, and none of those attacking players came on.”

McCoist added: “Tottenham fans definitely have the right to be angry.”

Not only are Spurs shooting themselves in the foot by conceding some very sloppy goals, but fans have had enough of Frank’s inability to make successful changes in a match.

Losing to a team that started the day just two points off the relegation zone in that manner is not acceptable at Tottenham, and the stats clearly show that Frank needed attacking reinforcements.

Leaving the trio of attackers on the bench until it was 3-0 is a completely foolish thing to do, and those Tottenham players may feel hard done by under Frank.

Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert deserved bigger chance

The French duo have certainly been starved of minutes, although they have looked very promising at different moments in the season.

Odobert was influential against Man United, providing an assist for Richarlison’s 90th-minute header, but he didn’t even come off the bench.

Meanwhile, Tel scored in the win against Leeds on 4 October, but has only made three starts in the top flight all season.

Both players have an incredibly high ceiling, but if they want to play consistently, they may have to leave Spurs as long as Frank remains in charge.

Ange Postecoglou new job hoax emerges on social media as manager announcement made - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Ange Postecoglou has been linked with a number of jobs since he was sacked by Nottingham Forest in October.

It was the second time this year that the Aussie manager has been let go, with Tottenham sacking Postecoglou in June despite him winning the Europa League title a month earlier.

Fulham and Leeds have been linked with hiring Postecoglou recently, while a return to Celtic was also briefly touted for the 60-year-old before they hired Wilfried Nancy to replace Brendan Rodgers.

It’s been a crazy year for the former Tottenham manager.

Not only has he overseen a couple of unwanted records by becoming the shortest-reigning manager the Premier League has ever seen at Nottingham Forest and overseeing Spurs’ worst-ever Premier League season, but he also broke Spurs’ 17-year trophy drought in May by beating Manchester United to win the Europa League.

MORE SPURS STORIES

And now, it looks as though his 2025 is ending on a rather weird note.

Everyone seems to think Jeonbuk Motors have hired Ange Postecoglou

Last Monday, Gus Poyet announced that he was stepping down as manager of South Korean club Jeonbuk Motors.

The former Chelsea and Sunderland midfielder won both the 2025 K League 1 title and the Korea Cup, but opted to walk away from Jeonbuk despite their best efforts to keep him.

While Postecoglou has never previously managed in South Korea, the Greek-born boss was in charge of Japanese club Yokohama F Marinos for three years before he was hired by Celtic in 2021, so he’s not a stranger to that area of the world, and a left-field move has always been on the cards with him.

That led to images emerging on social media that showed Postecoglou being ‘announced’ as Jeonbuk’s new manager.

One image seemed to show an official announcement on Jeonbuk’s social media, while another showed the ex-Australia manager holding up the South Korean club’s shirt and wearing their scarf.

As of the time of writing, the below tweet has around 200,000 views and has over 60 comments, with a lot of them being Celtic fans wishing their former manager well in East Asia.

However, there is nothing about Postecoglou on Jeonbuk’s official website or their Instagram account, suggesting that these pictures are photoshopped or generated by AI.

What actually is next for Postecoglou?

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Postecoglou go for a job like the one at Jeonbuk Motors.

He’s been a success in that area of the world before and it would no doubt be a nice reset for him after what has been an extremely turbulent few months in the Premier League.

However, Postecoglou is a fiercely motivated person and it wouldn’t shock us if the Aussie is waiting for the perfect opportunity to bounce back in the Premier League to prove that Tottenham and Nottingham Forest were wrong to axe him when they did.

Fulham look like they could be a good fit for Postecoglou in the coming months if Marco Silva‘s situation there isn’t resolved.

His contract is up at the end of the season and he doesn’t look like he’ll be renewing it so there’s a potential opportunity in London for Spurs’ Europa League saviour there.

Description

Mikey Moore is a name that sets tongues wagging among the Tottenham fanbase.

Moore has already impressed in the senior ranks at Tottenham, making 19 appearances last season under Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham sent him on loan to Rangers this summer, so that he could gain more experience at the highest level of the game.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium supporters are right to be excited about the prospect, and he has proven that already in his time with the Scottish giants.

Moore is on the verge of history away from Tottenham

Moore took a while to get going away from Tottenham, but he seems to have found his stride in Scotland.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He has scored in his last two league matches, and if he scores against Hibernian on 15 December, he would become the first player aged 18 or younger to score in three successive Scottish top-flight appearances since Anthony Stokes.

Stokes notched four in a row for Falkirk between October and November in 2004, and the Spurs gem will hope to emulate that feat from 19 years ago.

Tottenham must give Moore an opportunity when he returns

Lilywhites supporters will be desperate to see Moore handed a chance when he returns to North London.

Thomas Frank must heed that advice, as Moore has proven that he can handle the step up to senior football.

Moore is notching a goal every 218 minutes in Scotland, per Sofascore, which is not bad for his first taste of senior football away from Spurs.

He is averaging 0.5 key passes per 90 minutes and has one assist to his name so far for the Light Blues.

The N17 academy star also records 3.3 recoveries per 90, showing that he is not afraid to track back and win the ball back, which will be a valuable asset for Frank.

He must be given an opportunity to show what he has learnt in his time away next season, and it could save the club a fortune in the market.

It could prove to be a masterstroke if he makes the step up, and stars for his boyhood club in the Premier League and beyond.

‘Get a grip’ – Martin O’Neill slams Tottenham player for what he did after Nottingham Forest defeat

Tottenham were embarrassing in their 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, and Martin O’Neill has no sympathy for the players.

Thomas Frank is now under immense pressure at Tottenham following his side’s display at the City Ground, which saw them drop to 11th in the Premier League.

Guglielmo Vicario and Archie Gray were at fault for Forest’s opener, with the pair ceding possession in their own 18-yard box and allowing Callum Hudson-Odoi to tap into an empty net.

Hudson-Odoi doubled the hosts’ lead from a ridiculous angle, with Vicario at fault once again, before Ibrahim Sangare fired home the third late on.

Martin O’Neill fumes at Pedro Porro’s interview

Pedro Porro left Tottenham fans disgusted after the game, giving an interview which seemed to call out some of his teammates’ mistakes.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Porro also gave a half-hearted apology to the fans for the nature of the performance, saying that the supporters who had travelled didn’t deserve that display.

Former Celtic manager O’Neill was unimpressed by the Spanish full-back’s comments, feeling that he was failing to take accountability for his own poor showing.

Speaking on talkSPORT, O’Neill said: “Saying the fans deserve better than that? No, the fans deserve better from your performances, mate. Get a grip of yourself, get a grip of yourself.

“I hope he’s including himself in that group of players who didn’t play so well.”

Martin O’Neill absolutely right to criticise Pedro Porro

Porro was more than happy to highlight Gray’s mistake in his post-match press conference, but the defender has to take some accountability for his own performance.

The 26-year-old had a poor game defensively as Tottenham conceded three goals, winning just three of his eight ground duels.

It was on the ball where Porro really struggled though, as he gave possession away an astonishing 22 times across the 90 minutes.

Just 72 per cent of his passes reached a Tottenham player and he didn’t complete a single one of his four attempted crosses.

Of course, Porro wasn’t the only one who had a bad game, but he was rightly called out by O’Neill for commenting on others when his own performance was abysmal.

Released Tottenham player now set to tee up Lionel Messi goals as announcement made

Sergio Reguilon struggled to make his mark at Tottenham, but he has now been given a fresh career path in Major League Soccer.

Reguilon was released by Tottenham in the summer, bringing an end to the full-back’s five-year spell on Spurs’ books.

The Spain international spent time out on loan with Atletico Madrid, Brentford and Manchester United during that period.

Reguilon was unable to earn himself a new deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and has been without a club since departing.

Sergio Reguilon joins Inter Miami

Monaco had been linked with Reguilon, while a number of other clubs are reported to have shown an interest in the free agent following his Tottenham exit.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, Inter Miami confirmed on Monday that Reguilon has now joined them until the end of the 2027 season, with the option of a further year.

It means Reguilon will get the chance to provide ammunition for Lionel Messi next season, with the Argentina international staying on with the MLS Cup winners.

“It’s a very ambitious project, a winning club that is doing things the right way, and that’s what attracted me: coming here to keep winning and competing,” Reguilon said.

“My objective is to keep winning, go after the trophies we’re missing, and win everything here.“

Reguilon has also previously represented Real Madrid and Sevilla, and is still aged just 28.

Reguilon previously hit out at Ange Postecoglou

Speaking in 2024 after being loaned out to Brentford, Reguilon opened up on effectively being lied to by then-Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou.

“During pre-season I was very happy and he was happy with me, [as were] the staff,” Reguilon said.

“I was playing like a normal player, all the games. The week before, I went to see him. ‘You want me at the club?’, ‘Yes, I have to do a list and you are in my squad’.

“It was strange. The next day I was out of training and I didn’t know what happened.”

Reguilon returned to Spurs last season by barely got a look-in, having to settle for just a handful of appearances.

The defender now has a chance to kickstart his career abroad, and with age still very much on his side, he may well be back in the Premier League one day.

Robbie Keane backed for Tottenham job as players ‘don’t respect Thomas Frank’

Robbie Keane backed for Tottenham job as players ‘don’t respect Thomas Frank’ - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Robbie Keane has been tipped as a replacement for Thomas Frank at Tottenham after the latest nightmare on the pitch.

Frank appeared to have ridden out the storm when Spurs beat Brentford and Slavia Prague relatively comfortably last week, but he came crashing back to reality on Sunday.

Tottenham were easily beaten 3-0 at Nottingham Forest in a game where Guglielmo Vicario made a pair of bad errors leading to Callum Hudson-Odoi goals.

And now former Tottenham defender Ramon Vega believes the Dane needs to go, and has tipped ex-Spurs striker Keane as the man to replace him.

Ramon Vega says Robbie Keane will inspire Tottenham players

The Ferencvaros boss has won titles in Israel and Hungary already and last week beat Rangers in the Europa League.

MORE SPURS STORIES

His passionate celebrations afterwards as a former Celtic forward drew attention, and is part of what Vega thinks would make him the right fit at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Speaking live on talkSPORT Vega put Frank’s current struggles down to a lack of connection with his players, which he believes Keane would have no problem with.

He told Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist: “The questions is who is gonna potentially be good for this? I have a suggestion. Robbie Keane is pretty much now the Irish boy in Ferencvaros, he’s done very well, just beat Rangers as well… he would be a good one.

“He’s a kind of DNA ex-player, but he knows the psychological side of the dressing room. What is missing for me here with Thomas, I don’t see he inspires these players in the dressing room.

“I don’t see inspiration, I don’t see this connection, I don’t see the respect a manager gets and you show that with the body language on the football pitch. That’s where a Premier League manager needs to work most.”

Keane a valid option for Tottenham, but not yet

On current evidence Frank looks more likely to join the ever-growing list of recent Spurs bosses who have come and gone since Mauricio Pochettino without finding the answers.

However, this is a different club now that Daniel Levy has been removed from his position, so it is possible they are prepared to weather the storm of criticism from fans and media and give Frank the season to establish himself.

It is notoriously inefficient to hire a manager, back him in the transfer window, and then get rid of him to leave a squad of players that will inevitably need revamping in the image of the replacement, but if they are going to sack the Dane they may as well do it now while there is still a winter window for the next coach rather than later in the season.

For all Keane is developing some solid credentials as a manager in winning titles in Europe it is surely premature for him to be in the running for Spurs just yet.

It is debatable whether it is more of a step up from mid-table Premier League in Frank’s case, or with league winners in smaller overseas leagues in Keane’s, but both invite claims of being out of their depth if things don’t go well quickly.

Frank is finding that out right now, and Keane would risk being chewed up and spat out if he replaced him, but if he continues on his current trajectory it might not seem such a fanciful suggestion in a few years’ time.

Unhappy Manor Solomon ready for Tottenham return as loan termination update emerges

Manor Solomon could be headed back to Tottenham in the January transfer window amid discontent with his latest loan spell.

Solomon joined Villarreal for the season in the summer but is barely getting a game for the Spanish side and is considering an early exit.

The Israeli international hasn’t featured for Spurs in over two years and only has six appearances for the club in total, but was on the bench for early under Thomas Frank for the defeat to Burnley in late August.

Solomon was a prominent feature in Leeds United’s Championship-winning side last season but has now only featured in 10 matches this term for the Yellow Submarine, starting just once in La Liga.

Manor Solomon unhappy with Villarreal loan

According to a new updated from local outlet in Spain El Periodico Mediterraneo the 26-year-old has a clause in his loan agreement that would let him unilaterally terminate the deal during the January transfer window.

MORE SPURS STORIES

As such, an early exit is not thought to be out of the question, with sources close to the winger said not to be ruling out the possibility after Solomon himself expressed his dissatisfaction at the lack of playing time on social media recently.

For Villarreal’s part they are not considered likely to be badly affected due to a large squad with plenty of other options.

Permanent Leeds deal appears obvious Solomon move

While Frank’s sputtering attacking unit back in England could probably use all the help it can get at the moment there doesn’t look to be much interest from Tottenham‘s side in getting Solomon involved in that.

He made a reasonable start to the season under Ange Postecoglou two years ago before losing the rest of the campaign to a serious injury, but after bouncing back under Daniel Farke at Elland Road last term to the tune of 41 total appearances the ship appears to have sailed in North London.

Frank was impressed by Solomon when he first took the Spurs job but clearly that didn’t translate into a place in the side for the first half of the campaign.

At 26 Solomon is hardly an up-and-coming talent so if Frank doesn’t see any use for him in January, assuming the Dane is even still in charge by that point, then a permanent exit is surely on the cards sooner or later.

Leeds are widely reported to remain interested in bringing him back, and since Farke has secured his own job with some positive results it would appear to make most sense for all involved to work something out with the Whites.

Brendan Rodgers could be the man to replace Thomas Frank at Tottenham.

The Dane is coming under increased pressure at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium right now after Spurs lost 3-0 away to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Djed Spence openly questioned Frank at the City Ground, raising more questions over the respect he commands in North London.

Frank could face the sack at Tottenham after just months in charge as fans continue to grow frustrated with results and performances this season.

The Lilywhites could now look to move on from Frank and replace him with Rodgers after what Jeff Stelling has heard.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Brendan Rodgers could replace Thomas Frank at Tottenham

Rodgers is one of the favourites to take over Tottenham should the N17 club look to pull the trigger on the Danish head coach.

The 52-year-old has overseen just 16 Premier League matches with the Lilywhites after replacing Ange Postecoglou over the summer.

With just six wins and an 11th-place spot in the table, it is fair to say that supporters have had enough with Frank after the Forest defeat.

Rodgers could be the man to turn things around in North London, with the ex-Liverpool man available after leaving Celtic earlier this season.

This idea was put forward to Stelling live via talkSPORT on 15 December, and he was certainly open to the Northern Irishman’s appointment.

He said: “Abby, who’s a Manchester United fan, says, ‘Thomas Frank is out of his depth with Spurs, it’s too big a challenge, and he’ll get the push by Christmas. Que Brendan Rodgers arriving at the scene.’

“[That’s] Not the daftest of suggestions.“

Rodgers could stabilise Tottenham this season

There would be plenty of noise in N17 if the former Celtic boss were to come in and become the new Spurs manager.

Tottenham fans may not be pleased to welcome the 52-year-old, but he does have a winning pedigree that the Lilywhites need.

Rodgers was a serial winner in Scotland and came so close to winning the Premier League during his spell with Liverpool.

He isn’t the most inspiring of appointments, but as a man manager to get the best out of a struggling squad, he could be a useful option to potentially replace Frank.

Tottenham have perfect leverage to secure £10m+ mega deal after new announcement - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham’s recent success in Europe and their multiple other partnerships should see them secure a stadium naming rights deal worth millions, Dan Plumley believes.

Spurs are yet to sell their stadium naming rights, despite the ground being open since 2019.

As a result, it continues to be solely known as the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the North London club potentially missing out on millions due to a lack of a deal.

However, the impending announced arrival of Alex Scotcher at Tottenham could help quicken this process.

Dan Plumley: Multiple factors could help Tottenham secure big stadium rights deal

Scotcher is set to join Tottenham as their new commercial director in January.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It is an astute hire from the North London club, with Scotcher previously helping Everton to secure a £10million deal with Hill Dickinson over their stadium rights.

The appointment has resulted in renewed hope that they can get a deal done, with Todd Kline previously failing to sell Tottenham’s naming rights.

Now, Scotcher has been told that he should be able to secure a deal worth well over £10m at Tottenham due to the various successes the North London club has had in recent years.

When asked if Spurs can get a bigger deal than Everton for their stadium rights, Plumley exclusively told Tottenham Hotspur News: “They will certainly believe they can, and I don’t mean that disrespectfully to Everton.

“They have had more recent success in terms of qualification for Europe, etc, and have other partnerships at the stadium (NFL, F1, etc.) that any sponsor can also leverage.

“The club is also based in London, so geography comes into it, too. That said, it is still not that easy to secure naming rights despite it seeming like a no-brainer.

“Some of the biggest deals in Europe only average to around £17-20m per season, so Spurs may be looking for uplift on Everton’s £10m, but they might struggle to get close to £20m as an example.”

Why is selling the stadium rights such a high priority for Tottenham?

It is said that Tottenham previously wanted £25m to sell their stadium rights, an extremely high fee in the footballing world.

However, if secured, it would no doubt help bring in a steady flow of cash to the North London club.

Spurs have often been left behind in the transfer market compared to other big six sides due to their inability to spend big at times on players they want.

This was on show in the summer, with Tottenham unable to pay Manchester City’s asking price for Savinho, despite being in a PSR position to do so.

As a result, if a deal on the naming rights is secured, it could help give Spurs enough wiggle room to bring in additional signings.
