Tottenham Hotspur would be far better off if they currently had Rangers loanee Mikey Moore in their squad.

The Spurs youngster was sent out on loan to Rangers to earn more minutes as Thomas Frank felt his side had enough cover in attack.

Moore may have taken a while to find his feet in Scotland, but it’s clear that he is now one of Rangers’ most influential players.

With Mohammed Kudus, Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison injured, Spurs are in desperate need of a creative player that can get the fans off their feet.

And with Tottenham now in a relegation battle, loaning Moore out is proving to be an horrific decision.

Mikey Moore could have been Tottenham’s wildcard this season

The 18-year-old has been tipped as Tottenham’s next gem that’s come through the academy, but it was thought that it was beneficial for him to earn regular game time out on loan.

And to an extent, that worked, as Moore has registered nine goal contributions in all competitions for Rangers, becoming a fan favourite in the process.

According to Sofascore, Moore has created 29 chances in the league this season, which is the fourth-highest of any player in the Rangers squad.

However, as brilliant as his exploits in Scotland are, it’s a bitter pill to swallow for Tottenham fans, who are crying out for a player of his profile.

There’s been talk of Rangers wanting to keep the English youngster at Ibrox, but the North London outfit should resist those attempts.

Regardless of what division Tottenham will be playing in next season, Moore will be ready to play his part in the first team.

It’s just a shame that we aren’t seeing his brilliance in N17 at the moment.

Just how impressive has Moore been for Rangers this season?

While many fans have heard of how well Moore has performed this season, his goal involvements don’t tell the full story.

In the Scottish Premiership, the left-winger has completed 35 successful dribbles, and that total is higher than 87 per cent of all the other wingers in the league.

With 52 shots, Moore has become a huge goal threat for Rangers, sometimes drifting into central positions to find space in between the lines.

From a defensive standpoint, Moore has recorded 5.24 recoveries per 90 minutes, which shows how phenomenal his work rate is off the ball.

The teenager is currently fighting to win the title in Scotland, while his parent club is battling the unthinkable prospect of relegation.

However, Moore’s promising numbers mean he’ll return with confidence, which Spurs will definitely need for next season.

Pape Sarr is a bigger issue at Tottenham than anyone is willing to admit

Pape Sarr is a bigger issue at Tottenham than anyone is willing to admit - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Pape Sarr’s lack of expertise in any area of his game is becoming a big problem for Tottenham Hotspur.

Just to get things straight, there are countless issues in North London that are much bigger and far more important than Sarr, though that’s not to say that he isn’t one of them.

The 23-year-old has been a regular for Spurs, under several managers and through some of their darkest times in history.

Whether that speaks for itself or not is up for debate, but what isn’t up for debate is the fact that the Senegal midfielder offers very little in Tottenham’s midfield.

And while all of the focus is on Tottenham’s managerial situation, and will be like that for some time, there are conversations needed in regard to Sarr.

What does Pape Sarr bring to Tottenham?

Sarr very rarely has a bad game for Tottenham, but at the same time, there have been very few occasions where he has stood out as a star performer.

And sometimes having a player like that can be the key to success, but given the lack of quality around him over the last 12 months, that is not a situation that Spurs can afford.

Sarr has created just eight chances in the Premier League this season, showcasing his limitations going forward, but his numbers definitely are just as average.

The 23-year-old has won just 46.6 per cent of his duels in the top flight, which places him in the bottom 21.7 per cent of Premier League midfielders for that metric.

With 2.25 tackles per game, he ranks almost bang in the middle for Premier League midfielders, while also being in the bottom 35 per cent for successful passes.

His limitations at both ends of the pitch are clear, and they are a much bigger issue for Tottenham than anyone has come to realise.

How do Tottenham get more out of Sarr?

The question may not necessarily be to get more out of Sarr, but to get more out of the players around him.

Sarr is a constant 7/10 performer, and rarely goes above or below that, but that becomes a big issue when those around him are far, far worse.

Tottenham need more quality in the midfield areas, and that is when they can likely reap the benefits of Sarr’s consistency.

Tottenham should consider playing Mason Melia in Premier League relegation battle

Tottenham should consider playing Mason Melia in Premier League relegation battle - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham Hotspur may have a Mason Melia-sized wild card left to play in their fight against Premier League relegation.

Melia joined Tottenham from St Patrick’s Athletic in this season’s winter transfer window, in an Irish-record transfer that could set Spurs back up to £3.2million.

The 18-year-old is one of the brightest young talents Irish football has seen in some time, and is expected to go and enjoy a very bright future at the top of the game.

However, he’s been suffering from a troublesome back problem that has required addressing before he can stake a first-team claim.

But, Melia now appears to be past that, after being pictured in training with Tottenham’s Under-21s in early March, and could now be ready to push for minutes in Spurs’ crucial relegation run-in.

Mason Melia could inject attacking quality to Tottenham

Tottenham are staring at Premier League relegation, as they prepare for their biggest ever seven-game stretch in their top flight history after the international break.

Dropping into the Championship would be unthinkable for Spurs, and would undoubtedly be one of, if not the biggest, relegation story in the Premier League’s existence.

As such, Tottenham have to find answers from somewhere, anywhere, and one of them could lie in the form of handing Melia a chance to shine in N17.

Despite still only being 18, Melia has just shy of 100 senior appearances for St Patrick’s Athletic under his belt, and he fired home 13 times as well as providing three assists in 35 Irish Premier Division games in 2025.

He’s turned out 12 times in the UEFA Conference League too, so this is far from your average teenager when it comes to significant senior experience on his CV.

As per Sofascore, Melia still missed 16 big chances in those 35 league games last season, showcasing just how many more goals he could’ve had too, as well as his knack for being in the right position.

All 13 of his goals came from inside the box, showing a natural predatory instinct: something that Tottenham’s current forward line could really do with having.

Melia is type of gamble that could save Tottenham

What is Tottenham’s motto? “To dare is to do”.

Indeed, we’ve seen the Club’s application of those words questioned by many in recent times, but Melia presents the opportunity to prove that Spurs are committed to taking risks in the pursuit of success.

In truth, we don’t know how good or ready Melia is right now, but the only way to find out is to roll the dice on him.

He’s already got significant experience in senior football, so he shouldn’t have any problem handling the physical side, and his production levels suggests he’s got the quality to match as well.

It would also re-energise the fanbase too, as could you imagine the excitement of seeing Melia’s name on the teamsheet and what he could bring?

So, if he’s fully fit again and ready to go, then even if it’s just for 20-30 minutes off the bench to begin with, why not take a gamble on Melia? It might just save Spurs’ season.

Yang Min-Hyeok: Coventry City loan struggles cast doubt over immediate Tottenham future - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Yang Min-Hyeok has struggled for minutes since joining Coventry on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

Yang arrived at Tottenham in January 2025 with high hopes, albeit as more of a project signing given his lack of exposure to top-level football.

As a result, the teenager joined Portsmouth on loan for the first half of the 2025-26 campaign, before then joining Coventry City in January.

However, minutes have been few and far between for the 19-year-old, having started just once for the Sky Blues since joining.

And with Tottenham set for another big summer of recruitment, there will be questions as to what comes next for Yang.

How has Yang Min-Hyeok fared at Coventry?

Unfortunately for Tottenham, not very well at all.

The 19-year-old has made just four appearances for Frank Lampard’s side since his winter transfer, with a total of just 101 minutes.

He’s failed to register a goal or an assist in those four games, but given his lack of gametime, that will come as no surprise.

However, the inference gained from his lack of game time is that he is still not quite ready to have an immediate impact at the highest level in the Championship, which makes it an easy decision for Spurs in the summer transfer window.

What’s next for Yang?

If Tottenham want to see him develop to his true potential, then another loan move to the lower half of the Championship is the best option.

And if Portsmouth were to be interested, then a return to Fratton Park would benefit all parties, given the familiarity from his initial time there.

Tottenham Hotspur: Joao Palhinha is already a dream Roberto De Zerbi player - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham Hotspur‘s pursuit of Roberto De Zerbi could be good news for Joao Palhinha.

Igor Tudor is on the brink of the sack after the 3-0 defeat by Nottingham Forest, and De Zerbi has seemingly emerged as Spurs’ number one choice to replace him.

The Lilywhites would prefer to install the hot-headed Italian imminently instead of waiting until the end of the season, with just one point separating them from the relegation zone.

He previously caught the eye in the Premier League during his spell in charge of Brighton, with his front-foot, high-pressing style bringing about success at the Amex.

Spurs have made De Zerbi the leading candidate, and that bodes well for Palhinha.

Why Joao Palhinha is suited to Roberto De Zerbi

It has been argued that De Zerbi would take Tottenham back to square one, but he would certainly implement an entirely different approach to Thomas Frank’s tepid football.

His teams are renowned for using the ball to bait a press before attacking in numbers. This blueprint prioritises risk over safety and, as a result, typically leads to plenty of goals.

But one criticism often levelled at the 46-year-old is the defensive aspect of his system, which can leave the centre of the pitch far too open and creates spaces for opponents.

Fortunately for Spurs, however, they already have a ready-made solution.

Indeed, Palhinha has made more tackles than any other Premier League player this season, with 96. That puts him three ahead of Everton’s James Garner, the subject of effusive praise.

Despite his stop-start campaign, the midfielder, on loan from Bayern Munich, has been one of the very few Spurs positives, even if he has not matched his past heights at Fulham.

In all competitions, the 30-year-old has made 129 tackles and 34 interceptions, while his respectable pass accuracy of 82.7 per cent has helped Spurs weather too many storms.

Should he take the job, De Zerbi would look for players able to command the midfield, and Palhinha will clearly be able to help tick this box, even if he is a little rough around the edges.

Will Palhinha stay at Tottenham?

The big question is whether Tottenham decide to keep him.

Palhinha joined with a £26million purchase option, and for several months, the club looked certain to activate that clause. However, the situation now looks to have changed.

Spurs’ woes in the Premier League and Champions League knockout may instead convince him to return to his parent club, who could then decide to sell him elsewhere.

What is clear, though, is that De Zerbi would be desperate for him to stick around.

Igor Tudor sack: How Ange Postecoglou compares to latest Tottenham manager fail - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Igor Tudor is on the verge of losing his job at Tottenham Hotspur after a horrendous spell in charge.

The Croatian arrived in North London last month with one task: steer Spurs to safety.

However, he remains winless across all five of his Premier League matches at the helm, while the recent 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest leaves the Lilywhites hovering above the drop zone.

Tottenham finished 17th last term following a poor domestic season under Ange Postecoglou, who would lose his job over the summer despite guiding his side to a Europa League triumph.

Thomas Frank replaced him, before he himself lost his job in February. With another man set to lose his job, Tottenham Hotspur News takes a look at Postecoglou’s record compared to that of Tudor.

Ange Postecoglou compared with Igor Tudor

Postecoglou arrived in North London back in 2023, before his style of play won over fans immediately, with Spurs playing the sort of front-footed football supporters dream of at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

His side would miss out on the Champions League that term, before the dismal run began. Though he backed up his promise of silverware by delivering the Europa League last May, cementing his Lilywhites legacy.

While the sample sizes are naturally completely different, given Tudor’s lack of time at the helm, the numbers are there to see – his record in charge is simply not good enough for a club of Tottenham’s size.

This is further exacerbated when his one win in charge is looked at, given the fact that the 3-2 win against Atletico Madrid turned into a result and performance that ultimately meant nothing, with Spurs resorting back to their old ways just days after against Forest.

From day one at the club, Postecoglou looked to inspire, and not once did he seem to lose the trust of his players.

Tottenham’s players do deserve a lot of the blame, given how quickly many were willing to simply not take to Tudor. However, the Croatian has to go sooner rather than later, or the Lilywhites will sleepwalk to the Championship.

Problems at Tottenham are much bigger than the man in the dugout

While the obvious criticisms around the club’s recruitment, spending and overall lack of direction ring true, the simple fact of the matter is that the players on the pitch have to take some responsibility.

Since the inception of the Premier League, Tottenham have played the role of nearly men. Even at their most recent peak under Mauricio Pochettino, the Lilywhites’ inability to get over the line and lift silverware sparked humorous reactions across the nation.

Now, Spurs sit just outside the relegation zone – something that simply should not be the case.

Tottenham have left themselves short in the transfer market; that is obvious.

But for players who will likely be hoping for moves away at the end of the season, they are hardly doing themselves any favours with their current performances, in terms of both quality and mentality.

Tudor was brought to the club having gained a firefighter reputation across different jobs, but this current Spurs squad has proven exceptionally difficult to turn back around, while certain individuals have disgraced themselves by not taking to his ideas from minute one.

The squad will likely have seen the back of a third manager in the space of a year, and everyone involved needs to take a long, hard look at themselves if they are to go on and survive.

Tottenham: Simon Jordan says it isn’t ‘heartless’ to sack Igor Tudor

Tottenham Hotspur are not “heartless” if they decide to sack interim boss Igor Tudor following the death of his father, says Simon Jordan.

The 47-year-old did not do his usual post-match media duties following Tottenham’s 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Sunday due to this tragic turn of events.

On Monday, Tottenham offered their condolences to the Croatian, whose contract runs until the end of the season.

As speculation mounts over Tudor being replaced at Tottenham, ex-Crystal Palace chairman Jordan thinks if Spurs were considering dismissing him after the Forest defeat, this difficult situation shouldn’t change that.

Tottenham told to separate Igor Tudor’s situation with club’s results

Since succeeding Thomas Frank on 13 February, Tudor has endured a wretched spell as Tottenham boss.

He is yet to win any of his five Premier League games, and Tudor suffered a 7-5 aggregate loss in the Champions League last-16 stage to Atletico Madrid.

Hundreds of millions of pounds are on the line if Tottenham get relegated, with the north London team having just seven games to save their season.

And while the optics may not look good, Jordan stressed that Tottenham have to separate the loss of Tudor’s father and how the team are doing under the former Juventus boss.

He said on talkSPORT: “If Igor Tudor decides that actually this is a welcome distraction from the tragedy that he’s just experienced in his life and he wants to manage the team and you as an owner think that actually you’ve seen all you need to see from him before the tragedy in his personal life, you’re still going to have to take a view, and all people that are sitting out there go, ‘That’s heartless’.

“It’s nothing to do with [being] heartless, it’s to do with the reality of the world that we live in. There is no point keeping somebody in a job if you were going to take him out of that job prior to the tragedy that’s in his life.

“It might even, without wanting to be overly harsh, it might even cement the thinking because you’ve got two situations.”

Can Igor Tudor turn Tottenham’s fortunes around?

Just when hopes were high of beating Forest after a draw at Champions League-chasing Liverpool and a spirited 3-2 win over Atletico, Tottenham were brought back down to earth on Sunday.

They were the better side for much of the first half against the Tricky Trees, but then fell apart after falling behind.

For the time being, there is very little evidence to suggest that Tudor can guide Tottenham to safety as they leak goals left, right, and centre.

Tottenham fans like to say they are a top-six club, but right now, that is no longer the case. Spurs are next in Premier League action on 12 April away to Sunderland.

The north London team have more than two weeks to decide whether or not Tudor is the right man to lead them against the Black Cats.

If not, Spurs need to make a change and fast.

Tottenham can’t afford to miss out on Andoni Iraola, he’s the best fit for the job - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham Hotspur should prioritise appointing Andoni Iraola as their next head coach.

Iraola has performed miracles with Bournemouth since arriving in the Premier League in June 2023, leading the club to a record top-flight points tally last season.

However, his contract is set to run down at the end of the campaign and he has not signed an extension despite holding talks with the Cherries hierarchy, leaving his future uncertain.

That has opened the door for a host of elite clubs to make their moves, and Spurs have been linked with the Spaniard. Now, they would do well to pounce first.

Tottenham are on the hunt for their next manager, and Iraola should be in pole position.

Andoni Iraola is perfect fit for Tottenham

The 43-year-old, of course, is on a shortlist of multiple candidates for the role, and in recent days, he admittedly looks to have disappeared somewhat from the frame.

Instead, Roberto De Zerbi, Mauricio Pochettino and Adi Hutter have been floated, with the latter more likely to take up the reins should Igor Tudor depart in the coming weeks.

But De Zerbi could take Tottenham back to square one and Pochettino isn’t available until at least after the World Cup, which would leave the club’s future direction uncertain for months.

It would, therefore, be sensible for Spurs to stay the course, fight tooth and nail to remain in the Premier League and then turn to Iraola to help them establish a brave new era.

A glance at how Bournemouth stack up against their top-flight peers shows the decision is a no-brainer. They excel in almost every area, while also playing attractive football.

Iraola’s side are sixth for expected goals, behind five of the so-called ‘Big Six’. Ironically, the club expected to occupy Bournemouth’s position in this metric would be Tottenham.

The Cherries are also fourth for shots on target, registering an average of 5.8 per match, and are second in the division for interceptions per game with 9.8, just shy of Chelsea’s 9.9.

A hallmark of Iraola’s style, Bournemouth win back possession in the final third 4.4 times every match, placing them fourth, behind only Arsenal, Brighton and Manchester City.

But they balance ambition with grit, too, with the Cherries making an average of 31.6 clearances per match, leaving them trailing Crystal Palace (33.3) and Sunderland (32.3).

Tottenham supporters fell in love with Ange Postecoglou’s heavy metal, front-foot style, and Iraola promises to follow in those footsteps, albeit with his own unique twist.

Spurs boost in Iraola chase

Promisingly, Spurs look to have been given a boost in their pursuit of Iraola.

Bournemouth figures would have been concerned by the confirmation that Ernesto Valverde would step down from Athletic Club in the summer, with Iraola installed as the favourite.

However, according to reports, former Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic is now the frontrunner for the role, a shock considering Iraola’s glowing reputation in Bilbao.

The stars are aligning for Tottenham, then, and they would be foolish to miss out.

Tottenham Hotspur would find themselves back at square one if they were to appoint Roberto De Zerbi.

The Telegraph reported on Monday that the Italian would be interested in taking charge over the summer, should they remain in the Premier League.

Tottenham remain locked in a relegation battle after Igor Tudor has failed to turn things around following Thomas Frank’s dismal spell at the helm.

Roberto De Zerbi is a fiery character who Tottenham don’t need

With De Zerbi mentioned as a name interested in taking charge, the former Brighton boss would be an intriguing prospect for both the right and wrong reasons.

The 46-year-old’s time in France came to an end last month, after the outspoken Italian had multiple clashes with the club’s hierarchy and players in what can now be deemed as typical De Zerbi style.

He would take over from Graham Potter at Brighton in 2022, leading the Seagulls to the Europa League, and play some of the best football that the Premier League has seen in recent years.

And quite archetypal of his managerial career, things fell apart in season two, with De Zerbi leaving Brighton for Marseille ahead of the 2024-25 season after his side finished 11th in the standings.

While his time at Shakhtar came to an end in 2022 due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and thus, won’t be majorly considered among his list of jobs, it has to be acknowledged that De Zerbi has not lasted more than three years in a specific job.

Between the years of 2018 and 2021, his Sassuolo side proved one of the most fascinating teams in Italy as the likes of Manuel Locatelli and Domenico Berardi flourished under him.

But since then, he has not helped himself when it comes to talking himself out of a job at both Brighton and Marseille – something fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have seen before with Antonio Conte.

Given his outspoken nature and the poor organisation at Spurs, De Zerbi and Tottenham would be a disastrous marriage that could explode at any time.

Roberto De Zerbi’s outspoken nature will not fix Tottenham

The North London club are in disarray, and this has been the case for years, stretching back to Mauricio Pochettino’s departure in 2019.

Since then, the likes of Jose Mourinho and the aforementioned Conte have been and gone, and not even critical comments from the success-ridden pair have been able to spark change at Tottenham – a similar attitude from De Zerbi would be even more of a disaster given the respective reputations of Conte and Mourinho.

Current boss Tudor has also been critical of the overall situation, while his side is now left with just a handful of matches to secure their Premier League survival.

Spurs as a club need a complete reset.

De Zerbi has proven himself as a fantastic coach capable of producing some beautiful football, though the lack of longevity in his career is a big red flag for a club looking to lay the foundations of a new era.

Tottenham are a mess, and it could get much worse if they were to bring in someone as outspoken and as fiery as De Zerbi.

Tottenham must fix Pedro Porro issue immediately, it’s not getting them results - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham Hotspur need to start using Pedro Porro’s strengths to their advantage under Igor Tudor.

Porro has been poor at times for Tottenham as they continue to underperform this season, with his fiery attitude often criticised by pundits.

However, regardless of his form, the Spaniard provides a huge attacking threat down the right-hand side, and his creativity is hard to replace in the team.

What hasn’t helped Porro is the fact that Tudor has used him as a centre-back, a right-back, a right wing-back, and a right midfielder.

And in Tottenham’s 3-0 loss against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, he was completely ineffective as a right-midfielder, and Tudor needs to go back to basics and play him in his favoured position.

Pedro Porro’s abilities are being wasted by Igor Tudor

Against Nottingham Forest, Porro was high on the right-hand side, with Djed Spence playing behind him.

However, both players are used to playing in different areas, and Tudor’s plan certainly didn’t have a desired effect.

According to Sofascore, Porro won 44 per cent of his ground duels and zero per cent of his aerial duels.

From an attacking standpoint, the 26-year-old only completed 27 per cent of his crosses and was dispossessed three times.

When looking at his stats throughout the season, Porro has only won 49.8 per cent of his ground duels, while his pass accuracy of 73.8 per cent is woeful.

Both of these figures indicate that he shouldn’t play as a centre-back, as he did against Crystal Palace earlier in March, and he definitely can’t be deployed at right-midfield, as we saw on Sunday.

Porro’s best form in N17 came under Ange Postecoglou as a right-back in a four-man defence, and it’s baffling to see him chucked in different positions every week.

Tottenham’s next game is an away trip to Sunderland, and given the vociferous nature of the home crowd, the Spain international could struggle if he isn’t playing in his natural role.

What did Jamie O’Hara say about Pedro Porro’s role at Tottenham?

Porro’s positioning has been a topic that has split the fanbase, but they can all agree that Tudor needs to stop overcomplicating his changes to the team.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 23 March, Jamie O’Hara couldn’t believe that Tudor asked the Spaniard to play that high up the pitch.

He said: “We’re playing Pedro Porro at right-midfield. Someone tell me how that is acceptable at Tottenham?

“To think that is going to get you results is unbelievable.”

With seven games left of the season, it’ll be interesting to see if Tudor has learnt from mistakes.

But it’s safe to say that Tottenham fans have lost all faith that their manager will do the right thing and play him as a right-back.
