Tottenham Hotspur‘s humiliating 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest saw plenty of moments that were not picked up the television cameras.

Igor Tudor’s place in the dugout looks precarious again after the hammering at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 22 March.

Spurs were lacklustre at both ends of the pitch, and they are now just one point above the Premier League relegation zone.

Supporters at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium started with positivity, but that was soon replaced by despair, and the players were also feeling disbelief.

Tottenham’s players in emotional reaction to Nottingham Forest defeat

Tottenham’s players did not do the fans justice on the pitch, but they were just as gutted as they were after the final whistle.

The Athletic’s Jay Harris reported that Cristian Romero dropped to the floor, Xavi Simons covered his head with his shirt, and Kevin Danso and Pape Sarr were bent over in disbelief.

It is good to see that reaction from the players, they clearly care, but they need to start performing on the pitch, otherwise, it will be good for nothing.

Club staff get pelters from Tottenham fans

It was not just the players who were subjected to an intense reaction from the supporters, it was also the club staff.

Tom Barclay claimed that Spurs analysts, sitting in the press box, were the subject of flak from disgruntled fans in N17 after the final whistle.

He stated that one fan labelled them a disgrace.

While the situation is hostile, staff should not be being abused in the stands.

Mauricio Pochettino return chants gather pace

Mauricio Pochettino is most supporters’ ideal target for the post when Tudor departs in the summer, if he does not go earlier.

In the pre-match scenes, as they welcomed the bus, they broke out in song once again for the Argentine manager, in a video shared by Chris Cowlin.

Fans could be heard chanting “Mauricio Pochettino, he’s magic, you know” as they gathered before the contest, making their feelings well known about their former boss.

A return would be the dream for the fanbase and for the board, and surely rumours will only gather more pace if the current malaise continues in North London.

He is the most logical candidate, and it would bring the ownership a lot more praise from supporters if they were to pull it off.

Tottenham new manager: Robbie Keane and others ready for rescue mission as Igor Tudor risk fails

Robbie Keane is among the favourites to become Tottenham Hotspur‘s new head coach as Igor Tudor’s spell has just gone from bad to worse.

With the fans optimistic that their side could beat relegation rivals Nottingham Forest to ease their concerns at the bottom of the table, what preceded was extraordinary.

Tottenham lost 3-0 at home to Nottingham Forest on Sunday to leave them 17th in the Premier League and one point adrift of the drop zone, and Tudor is still winless in the top flight.

It was a hugely damaging result, with boos ringing out around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at full-time as Spurs edge closer to Premier League relegation.

With Tudor now under immense pressure, Keane could be among Harry Redknapp and Tim Sherwood to take charge of Spurs until the end of the campaign.

Robbie Keane undoubtedly the favourite to replace Igor Tudor

Keane is currently excelling at Hungarian side Ferencvaros and has them second in the league after 25 matches.

He started his managerial career at Indian side ATK before moving to Maccabi Tel Aviv for the 2023-24 season and winning the league.

The 45-year-old then backed that up with another top-flight title win in May 2025 for Ferencvaros, and he is slowly building up his experience in different parts of the world before taking a big job.

Having spent the majority of his playing career at Tottenham, Keane is someone who truly understands what supporters expect from their team.

Spurs fans would have affection towards their former striker, and there would be less pressure on him to bring instant success to N17.

And it’s safe to say that he would have a lot more support than Tudor currently does.

Could Harry Redknapp make an unexpected return to Tottenham?

Someone who would certainly provide stability is Redknapp, after previously spending four years with Spurs between 2008 and 2012.

He has previously admitted that if asked by the club, he would happily step in and aim to steer the club away from the relegation zone.

However, at the age of 79, there are question marks over his methods, given the fact that he’s spent so long out of the game.

Redknapp’s last job in management was in 2017 with Birmingham City, and although it would be an unorthodox appointment, it would definitely galvanise the Tottenham fans.

What you can’t question is his loyalty to Spurs, and perhaps the same can be said about Sherwood.

Tim Sherwood would be a left-field pick for Tottenham

Sherwood finished the 2013-14 season as the interim manager of Spurs following the departure of Andre Villas-Boas.

He achieved a sixth-placed Premier League finish with a total of 69 league points.

Sherwood was sacked by Daniel Levy in May 2014, and his only other managerial experience came at Aston Villa in 2015.

Spurs need someone who can galvanise the dressing room, yet there’s no way the 57-year-old has the track record to improve the mood around N17.

It would seem improbable for him to step in with just seven games left of the season, although given how Tottenham’s board have panicked with their decisions in recent months, Sherwood’s return is certainly a possibility.

Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest: Michael Oliver questioned as Ibrahim Sangare wrongly avoids punishment - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham fell to defeat against Nottingham Forest in Sunday’s Premier League contest, but Ibrahim Sangare was lucky to avoid being sanctioned in the first half.

That is the view of former FIFA referee Keith Hackett, who exclusively told Tottenham News that referee Michael Oliver needed to do more to clamp down on some quickfire challenges.

Spurs lost the game 3-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium through Igor Jesus’ goal on the stroke of half-time, followed by strikes from Morgan Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi in the second period.

There had been a few incidents prior to that, including a couple of Tottenham penalty shouts that were rejected by Oliver.

As the dust settles on Spurs’ loss to Forest, Hackett believes the match referee should have been booking Sangare at the very least for a first-half challenge.

Ibrahim Sangare avoids booking for double challenge

Sangare challenged Djed Spence just outside the box and then went into a strong challenge on Archie Gray, which the Spurs youngster came out second best in.

Gray was in real pain afterwards and clearly struggled to shake off the knock, but Sangare had no such issues.

Stat Tottenham Nottingham Forest Possession 58.3% 41.7% Shots 14 8 Shots on Target 3 7 Corners 13 3 Saves 4 3 Yellow Cards 1 2 Red Cards 0 0

Asked if Sangare was fortunate to avoid entering Oliver’s book, Hackett said: “This was such an untidy phase of play, one in which the referee should have taken firmer action.

“By allowing the first foul to go unpunished, we witnessed a second one that should clearly have been sanctioned with a minimum yellow card.

“So the first one by Sangare stuck a straight leg into his opponent and should have resulted in a yellow card. The challenge was reckless.

“Then there was the second challenge where both men can perhaps consider themselves fortunate.”

Much to Spurs’ frustration, Sangare was booked in the second half for an innocuous challenge, which was likely down to an accumulation of challenges.

Igor Tudor without a win in 10 league games in management

Tottenham’s 3-0 loss to Forest was nothing short of embarrassing.

It begs the question of whether Igor Tudor will now be in charge for the trip to Sunderland after the international break.

Remarkably, when also factoring in his spell at Juventus, Tudor is now 10 league games without a victory.

That is the longest winless run of his career, with the Croatian overseeing just one win in seven games in all competitions in N17 – a Champions League second-leg dead-rubber versus Atletico Madrid.

Some decisions may have gone against Spurs on Sunday, but that does not excuse the players for this.

After being given the full backing of supporters, they chucked it straight back into their faces.

Tottenham Hotspur succumbed to a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday, which leaves them just above the relegation zone.

Spurs had been the better team in the first half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but it was the visitors who struck first on 22 March as Igor Jesus headed home from Nico Williams’ corner on the stroke of half-time.

Early in the second-half, they doubled that lead through Morgan Gibbs-White, and the Lilywhites could not respond before Taiwo Awoniyi scored a third.

Tottenham are just one point above the Premier League drop zone, with seven matches left to play before the campaign concludes.

Richarlison horrendous as Tottenham lack firepower

Richarlison has been mooted for a bigger role at Tottenham recently, but he did little to further his case in the defeat.

The Brazilian striker took just one shot, creating a total of 0.12 expected goals in the contest, and it was defined as a big chance missed by Sofascore, which is not good enough.

He recorded a 50 per cent pass accuracy, and that figure looks even worse as he only attempted a total of 10 passes in his 67 minutes on the pitch.

The 28-year-old had just 22 touches and lost possession 11 times, meaning that he gave the ball away 50 per cent of the time that he had it.

He recorded two carries for a total distance of 16.4m, a woeful amount as his team needed him to carry them forward.

If he carries on playing like that, he should be nowhere near the starting line-up.

Micky van de Ven struggles as Tottenham lose

Micky van de Ven struggled desperately and was worse than Richarlison in the crucial clash, and he was replaced at half-time by Lucas Bergvall.

Many observers were surprised by the change, but given his stats for the first-half, it should not be a shock.

Van de Ven recorded just one clearance, one recovery and won one aerial duel of the two that he contested, per Sofascore.

He had a total of 21 touches, losing possession four times, and he struggled to carry the ball too, with just six in the contest for a total distance of 59.6m.

The Dutch defender completed 80 per cent of his passes, which was the only slightly redeeming aspect of his display.

Spurs need him to be on top form in the run-in and that was not the case this time around.

Tottenham have a superstar in Archie Gray, he’s already on course to overtake Declan Rice

Tottenham have a superstar in Archie Gray, he’s already on course to overtake Declan Rice - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham Hotspur‘s Archie Gray has been backed to be an even better player than Arsenal’s Declan Rice.

That is according to Tottenham icon Darren Anderton, who feels the 20-year-old has more natural ability than his Arsenal counterpart.

Tottenham are currently fighting to stay in the Premier League, with Igor Tudor’s side just one point and two places above the relegation zone.

On Sunday, they host 17th-placed Nottingham Forest in a relegation six-pointer at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Amid their struggles, ex-Tottenham star Anderton thinks Gray has the potential to go right to the very top of the game.

Archie Gray vs Declan Rice

Rice is arguably the best midfielder in the Premier League right now, with the former West Ham star playing a key role in Arsenal’s push for an historic quadruple – not that we like to talk about it!

And while Gray is showing what a talent he can be, many would view Anderton’s proclamation as a bold one.

Gray joined Tottenham from Leeds United in 2024 as an 18-year-old for a whopping £40million. But for much of his time at Spurs, the midfielder has played out of position in defence.

The 20-year-old has proven his worth at centre-back and full-back but now he is finally being given a chance to shine in midfield, which is his natural position.

Indeed, against Atletico Madrid in a 3-2 Champions League win on Wednesday, Gray was arguably the best player on the pitch.

In the Premier League this season, Gray has lost the ball fewer times than Rice and the Arsenal man has committed more fouls than the Tottenham youngster. And according to Anderton, with Gray, the sky is the limit.

He told The Sun’s print edition: “Thinking about how well Archie played against Atletico and the energy he played with, he reminded me of Declan Rice.

“I actually think he could go on and be even better than Rice, who is a hell of a player but Archie has more natural ability.”

Rice does edge Gray when it comes to goals and assists, and per 90 minutes, he leads him for interceptions (1 vs 0.7), tackles (1.9 vs 0.5), clearances (2.2 vs 2.1), and big chances created (14 vs 3).

But Rice is 27, is in his peak, is at a top side competing for four trophies, and has top-class players around him. Gray, though, is only really just beginning. Think what he could achieve if he was at a team higher up the league, with first-rate teammates around him.

The England Under-21 international has a long way to go to catch up the Arsenal ace but he is certainly on an upward trajectory.

It must be remembered just how young Gray is, and just how much potential he has.

Gray has chance to make England’s World Cup squad

Anderton added that Gray has an outside shot of securing a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for this summer’s World Cup.

He pointed out that Gray has been so impressive despite Tottenham’s struggles and even if he doesn’t head to North America with the Three Lions, he will undoubtedly get an England call soon.

For now, though, Gray has been picked in the England Under-21s latest squad for their upcoming European Championship qualifiers.

Anderton added: “I think he could have a chance to go to the World Cup. It may come too soon but his maturity amongst these struggles at Spurs has been so impressive. Without a shadow of doubt, I expect him to be a future England player.

“He’s been playing out of position and he’s just 20, so he can be anything he wants to be. He’s been the one shining light during this difficult season for Tottenham.”

Newcastle pursuit to sign Dominic Solanke 'one to watch' as Eddie Howe continues striker splurge - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke amid Spurs’ Premier League relegation battle.

That is according to The Sun, with their report stating that Eddie Howe is looking for a new number nine despite spending a combined £124million on Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa last summer.

Solanke has struggled with injuries since swapping Bournemouth for Tottenham in 2024 for a fee worth up to £65m.

A return of 22 goals in 61 games in all competitions doesn’t make for bad reading but if he kept Spurs in the Premier League, that would undoubtedly be his biggest contribution at the north London team.

Igor Tudor’s side are just one point above the relegation zone ahead of facing fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest on Sunday, and now, Newcastle are reportedly considering cashing in on Tottenham’s situation.

Newcastle eye Tottenham’s Solanke as part of wider Premier League search

The Sun claims that Newcastle are weighing up a £40m swoop for Palmeiras wonderkid Allan but could face another tug-of-war with Liverpool over a transfer target.

Tottenham ace Solanke, 28, has also been credited with interest, as has Chelsea’s Liam Delap – a player the Magpies missed out on last summer.

The report adds these moves could be “ones to watch”, as the Blues may need to sell players before buying ahead of next season and Tottenham could get relegated to the Championship.

Spurs currently sit 16th in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone in what has been a dire season.

Solanke hasn’t scored many goals this season but he has scored important ones, especially in the Champions League.

He was on the scoresheet in wins over Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt, which helped Spurs progress to the last-16 of the competition.

Now that they are out of that tournament, following a 7-5 aggregate loss to Atletico Madrid, Spurs fans will hope Solanke can fire them to safety.

If that comes to pass, that is likely to end a Newcastle pursuit right off the bat.

It’s do or die for Tottenham

Tottenham fans were calling for the head of interim boss Tudor after a 5-2 loss to Atletico earlier this month.

The Croatian had lost all four of his matches in charge, as Spurs appeared to reach a new low. But a point at Liverpool and a victory over the Spanish side in the second leg has lifted the gloom, somewhat, around the club.

Now, Tottenham face their biggest game of the season against Forest in a battle between 16th and 17th in the Premier League.

On paper, Tottenham have some winnable games on the horizon, with matches against lowly Wolves, Leeds United, and out-of-form Sunderland to come.

But Spurs haven’t won in the league since beating Crystal Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park way back on 28 December.

However, a win over Forest will go a long way in assuring their survival. But, there will still be some twists and turns along the way.

Lucas Bergvall the answer for Tottenham as brilliant stats show why he must start vs Nottingham Forest - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Lucas Bergvall must be named in the starting lineup when Tottenham Hotspur face Nottingham Forest in Sunday’s Premier League clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Swedish midfielder had surgery on his ankle after coming off in the 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in January, which left him on the sidelines for two months.

Bergvall is one of the brightest prospects in the Premier League, and he has already been incredibly important for Spurs in the last 18 months.

Having excelled for Spurs as they won the Europa League under Ange Postecoglou last season, the 20-year-old has seen his development stalled due to injuries and turmoil off the field in N17, although he returned to action in Wednesday’s win over Atletico Madrid.

When Tottenham host Nottingham Forest on Sunday, Bergvall could make his first start in two months, which would be thoroughly deserved.

Lucas Bergvall must be given chance by Igor Tudor to start vs Nottingham Forest

According to Sofascore, Bergvall registered a pass accuracy of just under 90 per cent and completed 15 successful dribbles as Spurs won their first major trophy in 17 years.

A teenager at the time, the young midfielder proved how valuable he was to the side through his ability on the ball.

Bergvall’s versatility wasn’t valued by Thomas Frank this season, but Tudor could recognise his qualities as Tottenham aim to stay in the Premier League.

In the top flight this season, Bergvall has competed 70 per cent of his attempted dribbles and 60 per cent of his long balls.

From a defensive standpoint, he has won 2.22 tackles and made 1.22 clearances per 90 minutes in the Premier League, which shows how well-rounded he is.

Spurs can’t afford to lose against Forest, who will be happy to sit back and take a point at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

As the stats from the Sofascore graphic above show, Bergvall has the guile and intelligence to unlock their defence, and he could definitely boost Tottenham’s creativity from open play.

Indeed, he has completed 70 per cent of his dribbles in the Premier League this term.

Therefore, starting him over Pape Matar Sarr in midfield would be the smart move for Tudor to make.

Could Bergvall leave Tottenham in the summer?

As he has such high potential, it’s not a surprise that several other clubs around Europe would want him in their team.

David Ornstein reported on 14 February that Bergvall’s lack of football in the first half of the season led to interest from Chelsea and Aston Villa in the winter transfer window.

Spurs have always remained clear in their stance that he is not for sale, but as they won’t qualify for Champions League football next season, they may not have a choice.

A successful run of games under Tudor would reignite interest in the young midfielder, and a departure in the summer isn’t out of the question.

Who knows how many more appearances he’ll have in a Tottenham shirt, but it’s clear that if Bergvall starts at the weekend, it could increase his value in the market.

‘Mauricio Pochettino would manage Tottenham in the Championship, I’m 100% certain’ - tottenhamhotspurnews.com

Mauricio Pochettino would manage Tottenham Hotspur, even if they were relegated to the Championship, John Wenham has said.

Spurs are in genuine relegation danger, sitting 16th in the Premier League, one point above the relegation zone.

Igor Tudor’s reign as caretaker manager has not had the uplift that was required, although he has picked up two positive results, a draw against Liverpool and a win over Atletico Madrid, in his last two matches.

Pochettino is the Tottenham fans’ first-choice for their next permanent manager, and the Spurs insider does not believe that relegation would put him off the job.

What was Wenham’s crazy prediction about Pochettino’s Tottenham return?

Wenham thinks Pochettino would relish the chance to be a hero with the Tottenham supporters again, and therefore would still take the post, if the club were in the second-tier.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “I genuinely think, and it sounds crazy, he would still come if we were in the Championship and he would take great pleasure in leading us straight back up and sort of really cementing himself with hero status amongst the fan base.

“I genuinely think he would still come back, and I’m 100 per cent certain he will be our next manager.

“The ownership at the moment, this new group of owners, all the Lewis family, since they’ve ousted Daniel Levy, have got basically everything wrong.

“They need an instant win with the fans, 90 per cent of Tottenham fans’ happiest times over the last 30 years was when Mauricio was managing the club.

“It’s an easy win for everybody to bring him back, and he’s also an outstanding manager, in my opinion.”

Why is Pochettino the best candidate for Tottenham?

Pochettino is the obvious candidate, due to his previous stint in the dugout in N17.

The 54-year-old took Spurs to a Champions League final and built a super team with the likes of Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

He boasted a 54.61 win percentage, winning 160 of his 293 games in charge between May 2014 and November 2019.

Whether Wenham’s prediction is right, and he would take over a Lilywhites’ side that were not in the top-flight, remains to be seen, but it would be a brilliant move for the club.

Let’s hope that they stay up and make it a much more attractive prospect for the former Argentina international centre-back.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur‘s improved performances are likely to spare Igor Tudor from the sack.

That is according to former Aston Villa, Everton and Aberdeen CEO Keith Wyness, who has claimed that the past two results prove Spurs’ players are fighting for the interim boss.

A 1-1 draw at Liverpool, courtesy of Richarlison’s 90th-minute equaliser, set the tone, before a valiant 3-2 victory against Atletico Madrid last time out continued the mini revival.

But having been knocked out of the Champions League, Spurs’ full focus will now turn to their Premier League survival fight, with just one point separating them from the drop zone.

A crucial six-pointer against Nottingham Forest awaits on Saturday, and Wyness believes the renewed unity at the North London club bodes very well indeed.

Igor Tudor lives to fight another day at Tottenham

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wyness said: “Interesting, isn’t it? I mean, you know, 13 key injuries for Spurs, which has been the excuse up to now.

“But then this squad turned up and really fought very hard and deserved it.

“For Igor Tudor, I think it actually saved the execution. I think the fans got behind the team as well. There are a lot of signs I’m hearing that, you know, they’ve cancelled protests.

“They’re now doing whatever it did for those three seasons of relegation. They’re deciding to get behind the squad, which is the right thing to do.

“And I think Tudor is showing signs that the squad actually are performing for him. Now that’s all that the owners could ever want at this stage.

“It wasn’t his making that the situation they’re in, but they just want to see that he’s got the squad performing. It seems that as of Sunday, they are.

“So I think he’s actually escaped to fight another day.”

Tudor does appear to have bought himself time, potentially until the end of the campaign, and matchgoers have rallied around the squad by cancelling a planned protest on Sunday.

In a similar vein, Kevin Danso shared a message to Tottenham supporters after the victory against Atletico, declaring they were “all together, always” in a display of togetherness.

Not all good news for Tudor

Preparations for the showdown against Forest were dealt a slight setback after Tudor was hit with a misconduct charge from the FA for his comments after the loss to Fulham.

Spurs went down 2-1 at Craven Cottage, and post-match, the Croat controversially accused the referee, Thomas Bramall, of favouring the hosts.

“I didn’t like the referee today, too much of a home team referee,” Tudor had told the BBC post-match, while also claiming that Bramall doesn’t understand football”.

Tottenham and Tudor have been given until Monday to respond to the charge. There are no set punishments for breaches, but Spurs will likely discover the punishment next week.

Previously, Jose Mourinho was given a one-match stadium ban while managing Chelsea in 2015 due to his criticism of officiating. Tudor will certainly want to avoid a repeat.

Tottenham must brace to lose Will Lankshear as youngster dazzles for Oxford United - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are set to be handed a transfer dilemma in the form of Will Lankshear.

The young striker has impressed on loan at Oxford United in the Championship this season, showing his quality despite the club’s struggles in their bid to beat the drop.

While Lankshear was not able to add to his goal tally in the 2-0 defeat by Southampton on Saturday, he again worked relentlessly, showing the type of spirit warmly welcomed in N17.

As the summer window approaches, Spurs will have a big decision to make on his future.

Lankshear could leave on loan again or look to stay and fight for his first-team spot, but either way, Tottenham will have to convince him he has a long-term future at the club.

🚨 TOTTENHAM TRANSFER HUB 🚨

How is Will Lankshear doing at Oxford United?

Lankshear completed his move to the Kassam Stadium in August, having been sent out for regular first-team minutes after a poor spell with West Bromwich Albion last summer.

The 20-year-old had not been able to provide a single goal contribution in his 11 matches with the Baggies, but despite this, he has gone on to catch the eye at Oxford.

Indeed, he has netted nine times and registered two assists so far this campaign – an impressive return for a club fighting for their lives near the foot of the Championship.

Eight of those goals have come in league action, proving that Oxford would be in a much worse position without him. From a distance, Tottenham will certainly have taken notice.

Lankshear has bagged two goals and an assist in his last five appearances, with Matt Bloomfield’s side tasting defeat just once across that resurgent run of form.

While they were brought back down to earth with a bump after losing to Southampton, the on-loan ace was tirelessly involved throughout before being taken off after 77 minutes.

Tottenham must give Lankshear first-team chance

However, Lankshear could leave Tottenham in the summer. That is because both Middlesbrough and Wrexham are keeping tabs on him, according to Football League World.

The young frontman remains highly rated at his parent club, who he joined from Sheffield United in 2022, and he is tied down to a long-term contract set to run until 2029.

That means that Spurs are in control over his future, but they run the risk of him pushing for a permanent move if they cannot make assurances over regular first-team minutes.

He will return to North London an improved, deadlier forward, itching for his big chance. But at present, they are unlikely to provide him with the regular senior football he so craves.

Of course, that could lead to an awkward transfer summit in which a mutually beneficial parting of ways could be agreed upon, and there will be no shortage of interest.
