Eagles inflict defeat on our 10 men - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

We suffered another home Premier League defeat on Thursday night as Crystal Palace left N17 with maximum points after Micky van de Ven’s first-half red card changed the course of the game.

Dominic Solanke had fired us into a 34th-minute lead to give us a huge lift on what was an important game in our fight to move away from the drop zone, only for our Dutch defender – skipper on the night – to be given a straight red after pulling back Palace’s Ismaila Sarr inside the area when through on goal.

Not only did we lose a man but we lost the lead too, Sarr converting the subsequent penalty and, by the time the interval came, we were 3-1 down. Two goals in first-half stoppage time consigned us to defeat – Jorgen Strand Larsen putting the Eagles in front before Sarr added his second of the game, leaving us a mountain to climb which we were unable to scale.

Igor Tudor made four changes in his third game in charge with Souza coming in for his first start in our colours – he was in the team along with Kevin Danso, Pape Matar Sarr and Mathys Tel, with Conor Gallagher, Radu Dragusin, Yves Bissouma and Xavi Simons making way. The visitors had our former player Brennan Johnson among their substitutes and he came on in the second half.

There were only 48 seconds on the clock when a ball into our box fell to Adam Wharton and his effort from 12 yards out needed a smart save from Guglielmo Vicario. Our first big chance came on 15 minutes as Tel did well to move infield off the left flank and hit a right-foot shot which Dean Henderson saved, gathering at the second attempt.

While the football wasn’t free-flowing, both sides were having plenty of attacks even if neither goalkeeper was really being worked. Palace did have the ball in the net just on the half-hour mark after Evann Guessand played a square ball across for Ismaila Sarr, whose shot deflected off Pedro Porro and looped over Vicario. Fortunately, Sarr was marginally offside and it was ruled out by VAR. That was the start of a wild spell in the game in the lead up to half-time. First, we opened the scoring in the 34th minute after excellent work from Archie Gray, who beat two players near the goal-line before drilling the ball into the six-yard box for Solanke to guide it home.

Just four minutes later though, the game turned against us. Ismaila Sarr got in behind our defence on the edge of the area and was pulled back by van de Ven as he moved into the box. Referee Andrew Madley not only pointed to the spot but brandished the red card to van de Ven, with Sarr taking the penalty himself and sending Vicario the wrong way. As the half entered eight minutes of stoppage time, Palace took the lead when Wharton slipped in Strand Larsen and his low shot went through the legs of Vicario and into the back of the net. It got even worse with Sarr scoring his second of the game in the seventh added minute, latching onto Wharton’s pass and getting there before Vicario to roll the ball home.

There was an almost an immediate response at the start of the second period, Danso forcing Henderson into a save with his back-post header from a corner inside the first minute before Tel and Gray both saw efforts blocked. Joao Palhinha then curled wide as we continued to press for a way back into the game, with Palace happy to sit back and defend their two-goal advantage.

Henderson was there again to deny us in the 68th minute, keeping out Solanke’s low angled drive with his legs after excellent wing play from Tel, while at the other end, Strand Larsen wasn’t far wide with a left-foot curler. In the final minute, Jaydee Canvot headed just wide from a Daichi Kamada corner, while Tel’s glancing header which drifted just wide from Xavi Simons’ free-kick was the last action of a disappointing night.

Report: Spurs 1-3 Palace - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Joy turned to despair in the space of six minutes as Crystal Palace ran out 3-1 winners in the Premier League at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night.

Dominic Solanke provided the finish to Archie Gray's great work down the right to put us 1-0 up with 34 minutes on the clock.

It all changed though on 40 minutes. Micky van de Ven pulled back Ismaïla Sarr as he went through on goal and referee Andrew Madeley pointed to the penalty spot and brandished a red card. Sarr slotted home the penalty and it was suddenly 1-1 and we were down to 10 men.

Palace quickly took advantage of the situation and goals from Jorgen Strand Larsen (45+1) and Sarr's second (45+7) saw the visitors 3-1 up by half-time. That's how it stayed.

Gugliemo Vicario nominated for Premier League's Save of the Month award for February - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Guglielmo Vicario's brilliance between the sticks has been recognised by the Premier League.

As part of the latest set of monthly awards, the league has shortlisted our number one for the Save of the Month award in recognition of his stunning stop which denied Manchester City's Rayan Cherki in February's 2-2 draw.

In a difficult first half against the Citizens, 'Vic' produced an instinctive reflex save to flick Cherki's angled effort away from his goal at almost point-blank range.

An award he won back in May, 2025, it is a prize the Italian has been almost perennially nominated for since he played his first Premier League minutes back in August, 2023, demonstrating his incredible shot-stopping abilities.

Watch - Vicario's stunning save against Manchester City

As usual, Guglielmo has competition for the prize with Manchester City's Gianluigi Donnarumma, Wolverhampton Wanderers' Jose Sa, Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez, Arsenal's David Raya and Everton's Jordan Pickford all nominated as well.

However, as always, you can play your part in helping our number one to win the prize by voting for him on the Premier League's voting page.

The Daly Brief | Spurs vs Crystal Palace, Premier League - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

"Both Spurs and Crystal Palace are without crucial defenders through suspension tonight, so how will they line up? Meanwhile, has Mathys Tel earned himself a start after impressing at Craven Cottage?"

Rob Daly, official club commentator, presenter and pundit

Who comes into defence for the Eagles?

Maxence Lacroix will miss the game in N17 after his sending off in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at Manchester United. The Frenchmen is a huge loss, especially to a team adapting to life without Marc Guehi, now at Manchester City. “We always have to make changes to our back three since Marc left,” explained Head Coach Oliver Glasner. "There is no consistency in the back three." Lacroix is also a miss for his set-piece threat, having scored in his last two games. With Jefferson Lerma out too, Morocco international Chadi Riad, recently back from an ACL injury, could come in to play alongside Chris Richards and Jaydee Canvot.

How will Palace cover for Mateta's absence up front?

A knee injury keeps Jean-Philippe Mateta out for Palace right now, but the club bolstered their attacking options in January. Jørgen Strand Larsen has scored against Spurs for Wolves previously - and the tall, powerful striker already has a couple of Palace goals to his name. The Norwegian is looking to build an understanding with 11-goal forward Ismaïla Sarr, who Oliver Glasner says is having a fantastic season. “Ismaïla is very important for us with the way he's playing, he always gets into finishing positions and scoring goals, and Jørgen is the more physical player in the middle.” Ivory Coast international forward Evan Guessand has already scored in the Premier League and Conference League since joining on loan from Aston Villa, while Brennan Johnson, set for a warm reception tonight, is looking for his first Palace goal.

Has Mathys Tel earned a start?

Coming up to the hour mark at Craven Cottage, at 2-0 down, Igor Tudor made a triple change that invigorated Spurs. Richarlison scored the equaliser, Pape Matar Sarr added energy, while Mathys Tel really caught the eye. The Frenchman hung out to the left side of Spurs’ attack, demanded to get on the ball and drove at Fulham’s defence with purpose. Archie Gray may have got the assist for the goal back, supplying a superb cross for Spurs’ number nine, but Tel’s direct running up-field and into the box really made it happen. His fight and character, along with work on the ball, may get him into the XI.

Will Danso and Richarlison come in tonight?

Djed Spence’s calf issue kept him out on Sunday, but left-back Souza also had an enterprising cameo at Craven Cottage, seen bolting up the pitch to join attacks, get to the byline, and find a team-mate. Radu Dragusin has now started the last three league games, and given he’s only recently back from his ACL, you wonder if Kevin Danso will partner Micky van de Ven in defence having returned from a toe ligament injury. Danso was arguably Spurs’ outstanding player in the late-December win at Selhurst Park, and Tudor is happy to have him and other big characters back like Pedro Porro and Richarlison. “Of course they give something and of course we need that, Pedro also, when Kevin comes inside, personality and quality, so it changes… this is the key also to have the players who can give this to the team.” While a 4-4-2 formation was used at Fulham, the Head Coach insisted Spurs’ run of form right now is, 'not about system. System is not important at this moment', highlighting the need for fight and confidence.

Dominic Solanke's scorpion kick stunner up for Premier League Goal of the Month award - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Out of the first half of the campaign through injury, Dom was back with a bang last month as just his second Premier League start of the season brought about a contender for Goal of the Season, let alone Goal of the Month.

Coming in our 2-2 draw with Manchester City at the start of February, the forward showed incredible skill inside the box to score what he described as 'one of the best goals' he's ever scored.

Winner of our Goal of the Month award as voted for by our fans, the move was started and created by January arrival Conor Gallagher, who retrieved the ball back in midfield before breaking to the byline.

Once there, the midfielder clipped the ball into the area for our number 19. With the ball slightly behind him, Dom somehow managed to get his right foot to the ball and hook it over his own head and then the outstretched arms of goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to see us add another ridiculous goal to our collection for 2025/26.

Martin Ho named February’s WSL Manager of the Month - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Martin Ho has been named the Barclays Women’s Super League Manager of the Month for February.

Having collected an important six points last month in the WSL, where we scored nine goals across three games, Martin has claimed the monthly award for the first time in his career and becomes just our second Head Coach to pick up the award in England’s top flight.

Joining us in the summer from SK Brann, Martin has enjoyed a tremendous first campaign in north London to date and, last month, his side showed plenty of quality in the forward areas and resilience to bounce back from any setbacks.

Beginning the month with a London derby trip to West Ham United, we came from behind to earn a 2-1 win over the Hammers at Chigwell Construction Stadium and, despite suffering defeat at home to Chelsea, we responded in fantastic fashion at Villa Park.

A sensational performance in the Midlands saw us hit seven goals against Aston Villa as we ran out 7-3 winners – the second-highest goalscoring match in WSL history – and continues to solidify our spot in the top five of the current standings.

Speaking about winning the award for the first time in his career, Martin told us: “I’m thankful for everyone that voted, but credit to all the staff and players because they are the ones that enable you to be in this position, so it’s not just an accolade and honour for me, it’s for all the staff and players around me. They deserve a lot of credit – it’s a collective effort.

“We’ve definitely taken steps in the right direction and we are working towards where we want to be and where we want to go. It’s seven months into what we’re building here, but it doesn’t just come from me – it comes from everyone. I’m just glad we are working towards the ambitions and goals we have set and hopefully there’s a lot more to come.”

We return to Barclays Women’s Super League action on Sunday 15 March after the current international break as we take on Everton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (11.55am UK) and Martin is looking forward to being back in N17 to build on the positive momentum from last month.

“It’s a wonderful occasion for fans to collectively connect and create an atmosphere,” he added. “I’m really excited for that game and, after this international break, we want everyone back fit and healthy so we can continue to push forward and build momentum like we did in February.”

Hunt’s Australia progress to Asian Cup quarter-finals - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Clare Hunt started and helped preserve a clean for Australia as they progressed to the quarter-final of the Women’s Asian Cup with a 4-0 win over Iran on Thursday morning.

The defender maintained her place in the starting XI and played 73 minutes on the Gold Coast before being replaced by Steph Catley for the final quarter of the game.

An impressive first half performance from the Matildas saw them head into the break with a three-goal advantage – Amy Sayer, Mary Fowler and Alanna Kennedy on the scoresheet – before Kennedy grabbed her second of the match in the second period to round off an excellent win on home soil.

Australia move into the last eight after two wins from two in Group A alongside South Korea, who have also picked up maximum points in their first two fixtures after beating Philippines 3-0 earlier this morning.

Clare’s nation still has one more group fixture to play though, as they take on South Korea to determine who finishes top of the group on Sunday (8 March).

Toko Koga and Maika Hamano is next up in Japan’s second match in Group C against India – a victory would also see our Japanese duo progress to the quarter-final.

Making the most of March: A crunch London derby with Palace

@SpursOfficial

Thu 05 March 2026, 11:15| Tottenham Hotspur

All eyes turn to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night as we take on Crystal Palace looking for the all-important three points to turn fortunes around in the Premier League (kick-off 8pm UK).

In pursuit of our first league win this calendar year, we face the side that brought our last top-flight success when we came away with a 1-0 win at Selhurst Park thanks to Archie Gray's first senior goal back on 28 December.

That victory in south London meant we have won six of our last eight league matches against Palace which also extends to 16 of our previous 21 such fixtures. We fell to a 2-0 defeat in this exact encounter in May last term but had previously won nine consecutive home league games between 2015/16 and 2023/24.

Currently sitting two places and six points ahead of us in 14th, Oliver Glasner's side ended a nine-game winless streak with a 1-0 win over Brighton last month but have since lost to Burnley and Manchester United either side of 1-0 victory over bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers in recent weeks.

Watch | Match Preview: Spurs vs Crystal Palace

January signing Conor Gallagher will be keen to make an impact against his former side and can take confidence from his record in this fixture. The midfielder, who netted eight goals in 34 league appearances during his loan spell in 2021/22, has scored more Premier League goals against the Eagles than any other opponent (four) as he looks to get off the mark in Lilywhite.

Here are some other headline stats, courtesy of Opta, ahead of the London derby...

We've only been beaten once in our last 17 Premier League home matches in the month of March (W13 D3).

We've won six and drawn one of our last seven Premier League home matches in the month of March.

The first match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace on 3 April, 2019.

This is Crystal Palace’s third consecutive Premier League meeting with Spurs while above them in the table. They’d only been above Spurs in two of their previous 22 against them (excluding games on MD1) since their return to the top-flight in 2013.

This will be the eighth Premier League game played on a Thursday this season, while the previous seven have seen three 1-1 draws and four 0-0 draws. The goals/game average of 0.86 on Thursdays in 2025/26 is the lowest on any day of the week in a Premier League season to see more than one match played.

We have lost six of their last seven home league London derbies (W1), including four of our five this season. Those four defeats are already the most home London derby losses in a single league campaign.

Crystal Palace have failed to win any of their last six Premier League games played on a Thursday (D4 L2), drawing each of the last three.

Palace have lost just one of their last nine away London derby matches in the Premier League (W5 D3), going down 1-0 at Arsenal in October.
