Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on their seventh summer signing of the transfer window after Roberto De Zerbi gave his green light to the deal, according to reports.
Spurs have already brought in Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Martin Dubravka, Jan Paul van Hecke, Mateus Fernandes, and Sandro Tonali this summer, as they look to rebuild their squad following their second consecutive 17th-placed finish in the Premier League.
All attention has now turned towards bringing in forward additions to help add more goals, and De Zerbi has made his decision on which player the club should be going all out for to do just that.
De Zerbi Green Lights Savinho Deal
According to TEAMtalk, Spurs are closing in on an agreement with Man City to sign forward Savinho.
The Brazilian, who has been described as 'outrageous', has found regular first-team football hard to come by at the Etihad Stadium and is now set to depart, less than 12 months after signing a new long-term contract at the club.
City are open to his exit after just one goal last season, and Spurs are ready to revisit their interest from last summer, where they had a £60m bid rejected. Now, they are closing in on an agreement for a similar price, with the winger already committing to joining them should a deal be struck.
De Zerbi had been given a host of forward options to choose from, with Tottenham ready to advance on a deal for any of them. And the Italian has now made his decision and picked the 22-year-old ahead of the likes of AC Milan star Rafael Leao as the next piece of his jigsaw.
De Zerbi has been heavily involved in the decision to prioritise a move for Savinho, with his age, profile, availability, and price all factors that have been considered.
Savinho Move Now Inevitable
Savinho's Man City career started brightly, but he quickly found himself battling with some established international stars for game time, and it hasn't worked out for him.
Tottenham are able to offer him a much clearer pathway to regular first-team football, and in De Zerbi they have a manager who strongly believes he can be the difference maker in their squad, rather than just another option.
All parties are working hard towards getting a deal over the line now, and it seems a matter of when, not if, this deal will be completed, in a major boost to the north London side.
