Liverpool now have a week to prepare for their next game as they travel to North London on Saturday evening to take on Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds are five games unbeaten after beating Brighton and Hove Albion 2-0 at Anfield on Saturday, with Hugo Ekitike scoring both goals as Liverpool kept a third clean sheet in five games.

There were some negatives to the game with Joe Gomez going off injured midway through the first half while Dominik Szoboszlai also picked up an ankle problem that forced him off on 83 minutes.

Up next for Liverpool is the busy festive period, although with the Reds out of the Carabao Cup - their schedule is not as hectic as previous seasons.

After taking on Spurs, they host Wolves at Anfield on Saturday, December 27 and then take on Leeds United at Anfield on New Year’s Day. They face Fulham away from home on January 4 before another away game in London against Arsenal on January 8.

As the Reds prepare for their upcoming games, we have rounded up the latest injury news and return dates for the player’s injured stars.

Liverpool injury news and return dates

Joe Gomez

The defender picked up a muscle injury against Brighton - and Slot has already confirmed he will not play against Tottenham next week. The Reds boss said: "If I have a player who goes off with a muscle injury like Joe, that's normally not a positive thing.

"I would not expect him to be in the squad next week [at Tottenham Hotspur]. But sometimes you get a positive surprise.

"People now maybe understand a bit better why I was always so cautious not to play him so many games. I assume many people thought, 'If you have a defender, if you have a right full-back, why don't you play him?'

Dominink Szoboszlai

Speaking about the Hungarian, Slot said: "And Dom, it was his ankle. It didn't look great when I just saw him. But he has unbelievable mentality so let's hope for the best.”

No clear update was provided on the star but he is unlikely to be out for a prolonged period.
