Tottenham have agreed personal terms to sign a new winger in the summer transfer window, and he could be a huge upgrade on Mathys Tel.
Spurs have strengthened in a number of positions during the transfer window, bringing in a new goalkeeper alongside multiple defenders and midfielders.
Tottenham are yet to bring in reinforcements in the final third, whether that be a winger or a centre forward, and that looks set to be their next priority.
The North London club have already spent significantly, but if they want to turn from a side finishing 17th in the Premier League to European challengers, they might have to spend a little more.
Roberto De Zerbi will have wanted to have been backed in the summer market, and the board have certainly done that.
Tottenham agree terms for Tel upgrade
According to reports, Tottenham have already agreed personal terms to sign Manchester City winger Savinho in the summer transfer window.
Spurs are in the market for a new winger this summer, which is no surprise considering some of the injuries and inconsistencies of some of their current crop.
French forward Tel, for example, struggled to perform consistently for the North London club, and there's no doubt Savinho would be an upgrade on him.
Tel still has plenty of time on his side, but if Tottenham are looking for a quicker fix, then Savinho could be the right man.
Spurs could then potentially look to loan Tel out for the season, with Savinho ready to come in to make an immediate impact.
Savinho plays like Lamine Yamal
Savinho, described as 'elite', has struggled to be a guaranteed starter for Manchester City, particularly under Pep Guardiola when the Spanish manager was in charge.
That hasn't stopped the media from waxing lyrical about the Brazilian, with former Arsenal star turned Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson comparing him to Lamine Yamal.
“Savinho, oh my, what a star, he’s gonna be a superstar. He runs with the ball, but his decision-making is unbelievable.
“He reminds me a little bit of Lamine Yamal, they can dribble but their decision-making… they can run with it but they get their head up and make that right pass at the right time.”
It is certainly a big comparison for Merson to make, but an exciting one for Tottenham's supporters.
