Imagine Him and Xavi: ‘Superstar’ Desperate to Join Tottenham on Deadline Day

Having signed Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, Tottenham Hotspur should push ahead with a move for Savinho before the transfer window closes.

Although Ange Postecoglou ended Spurs’ 17-year trophy drought by winning the Europa League last season, the club’s poor Premier League form saw the Australian sacked in the summer. In his place, the Lilywhites appointed Thomas Frank, who proved himself to be a tactically astute manager during his time with Brentford.

The Dane has, at the time of writing, lost just one of his three Premier League games in charge of Tottenham. Prior to their 1-0 defeat against Bournemouth, Frank guided Spurs to a 3-0 win over Burnley and an impressive 2-0 victory against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, having made three major additions to his squad in the market.

Not including any players who signed for Spurs having spent time at the club on loan last term, Tottenham have, this summer, recruited Joao Pahlinha on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich and drafted in creative outlets Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons from West Ham and RB Leipzig respectively.

The addition of Simons in particular for Tottenham, who remain in the market for further additions, was crucial. The Dutchman will offer much-needed creativity alongside Kudus in the absence of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski, who will both be absent due to injury for some time.

For much of the window, Tottenham have been pursuing a deal for Savinho of Manchester City. The Brazilian winger has impressed many since moving to the Premier League last summer and Frank, evidently, wants the 21-year-old as part of his long-term plans.

Even with the talent they have recruited this summer, Tottenham should continue with their efforts to sign the wide player until the window slams shut on the 1st September.

Savinho ‘Desperate’ For Spurs Move, Club Should Keep Pushing

Despite his young age, Savinho is already a brilliant player, having been a part of the Brazilian national team since 2024. The attacker recorded 10 assists in his debut Premier League season, but given City have signed Rayan Cherki to bolster their already well-stocked attacking ranks, it is unclear whether Savinho has a clear place in the team.

City are, evidently, reluctant to sell Savinho, but the Brazilian is reportedly “desperate” to move to Tottenham. Frank has shown, both with Brentford and in his early reign with Tottenham so far, that he is willing to change his tactics on a weekly basis.

As such, having Savinho, who has been called a “superstar,” as an option along with the likes of Simons and Kudus would mean that, in theory, Frank could have a consistent source of attacking brilliance on the pitch and be especially potent in attack if the trio played together. Spurs are expected to return to a position within the top six this season and adding Savinho to their squad would certainly make that goal easier to attain.
