Tottenham Hotspur are “in talks” with Atalanta about a deal for their star forward Ademola Lookman ahead of the transfer deadline, according to TBR Football.

Despite ending their 17-year trophy drought by winning the Europa League, Ange Postecoglou was sacked by Spurs for their poor Premier League form. In his place, the Lilywhites appointed Thomas Frank, formerly of Brentford, and have made three major additions for the Dane.

Not including any permanent additions who had spent time at the club on loan in the previous season, Spurs have recruited creative outlets Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons from West Ham and RB Leipzig respectively, having also signed Joao Palhinha on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich.

All three could prove to be crucial players for Spurs, with Simons offering the club further creative depth in the aftermath of both James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski suffering injuries. With Champions League football on their calendar, Tottenham will have a busy schedule across the campaign and as such, it is understandable as to why Spurs are seeking further additions ahead of the deadline.

Now, reports have indicated that Spurs could push forward with a move for this sensational attacker.

Spurs Pushing For Lookman, He’s Keen On The Move

TBR Football have reported that Ademola Lookman is “emerging as an option” for Spurs in the final stages of the transfer window. Since joining Atalanta in 2022, Lookman has developed into one of the best forwards in world football, having been named African Footballer of the Year and making the Ballon d’Or shortlist in 2024.

Lookman has been seeking a move away from Bergamo this summer, having fallen out with the hierarchy at Atalanta. Tottenham have seemingly tracked the Nigerian international for some time and are now, as per TBR Football, in talks to negotiate a potential transfer for the 27-year-old. A deal "could well happen," with a move to Spurs said to "appeal" to Lookman.

Comfortable either out wide or as a central striker, Lookman, who has been called "incredible," would be a brilliant addition for Frank’s squad. The Nigerian international is entering the prime years of his career and if Spurs are unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Savinho from Manchester City, then Lookman would represent a brilliant alternative as Spurs look to return to a top-six league finishing position at the end of the campaign.
