A new report in Germany has shed light on the chances of Luka Vuskovic being prematurely recalled by Tottenham Hotspur on the back of his sensational start to his loan spell at Hamburg.

Such has been the centre-back’s impact at HSV that Luka Vuskovic has been named in WhoScored’s Team of the Season so far among Europe’s top five leagues.

It is not hard to understand why, as Vuskovic has been on a league of his own in terms of duels won and ball progression, particularly among centre-backs under 23 years of age.

The 18-year-old has been so good that there have been reports suggesting Tottenham could recall the defender from his loan spell to boost their options at centre-back.

Tottenham can only recall Luka Vuskovic in case of an emergency

A report in SHZ reflects on the teenager’s outstanding performances in Germany and says that he has already established himself as one of HSV’s key players.

It is explained that the only ‘small flaw’ in Vuskovic’s growing love affair in Hamburg is the existence of a clause that allows Tottenham Hotspur to recall him.

However, the outlet explains that Tottenham can only recall the centre-back in case there is an injury crisis at the club.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Hamburg have put several safeguards in the loan agreement, which requires two of Spurs’ central defenders to pick up injuries for the recall clause to become active.

Those have to be ‘serious injuries’, with a simple strain not enough for the clause to be activated.

Spurs can only recall Vuskovic during a specific time period

Additionally, SHZ say that these injuries have to happen by the start of the January window for Tottenham to be able to recall the Croat.

The clause expires in the middle of January, after which Tottenham cannot recall the young centre-back, while the Bundesliga club would also be owed financial compensation if Spurs decide to terminate his loan spell prematurely.

The publication adds that the relationship between Tottenham and Hamburg are ‘exemplary’ and the North London club are not considering recalling the defender at the moment.
